Eliza is a very friendly and loving girl who values friendships very highly, she's a very loyal individual as she will help anyone that needs it. Though she could easily be classed as a coward as she is very reluctant to face huge dangers, such as Titans. She's extremely gentle and wouldn't willingly hurt anyone and does cry easily, especially in regards to her extreme monophobia (fear of being alone) and SAD (Separation anxiety disorder). However, despite her gentle and timid nature, Eliza isn't to be underestimated. Anybody who hurts any of her friends will feel the tiny girl's wrath, one example including when she once jumped on the back of one of her brother's bullies and biting him on the ear, only to immediately beg for forgiveness while in floods of tears. She can be a capable fighter, despite it being against her nature and will stand by her comrades in battle, probably shaking all over and on the verge of keeling over in fear, but still willing to help. She will take on a Titan when necessary, just don't expect her to be the one to lead an attack. Despite being blind in one eye, Eliza is still a capable -albeit reluctant- fighter and is quick on her feet. Her small size and quick and nimble speed makes her ideal for missions that require more stealth than brawn. It also makes it more difficult for Titans to grab hold of her as her small size and light weight makes pretty fast when using her Vertical Manoeuvring Gear. Eliza has a habit of rocking back and forth on the spot when anxious as well as chewing on her fingers.

Background:


Eliza's life was simple until she was ten, but when Wall Maria was breached that's when her life was thrown into disarray and uncertainty. Both her father, Jackson and brother Phil were lost to the Titans and both Eliza and her mother were left without a home. They were able to get another house, which was smaller than their last one but it was still enough for them. Eliza's mother started drinking heavily after losing her husband and son, which had an effect on Eliza, who struggled to cope with any kinda change and found all of these extreme changes hard to cope with. It didn't help when her mother eventually got a new partner, Richard (or "Dick" as Eliza called him) which only made Eliza's life more difficult. Dick was the cause of the injury to Eliza's eye as well as her blindness. Dick was an unpredictable and violent man towards Eliza, causing her extreme anxiety. The origin of her monophobia and SAD was from when both Dick and her mother left one night and didn't come back for several days, and it was not the only time they did that and sometimes it was longer. Eliza found herself in the Survey Corps after being forced into it by both her mother and step-father, since they both felt that Eliza should "earn her keep" and "do something with her life" and Eliza didn't feel like she had much of a choice than to simply do what she was told. While finding military life difficult to begin with, she eventually managed to pass all of her tests and graduate.
