At the foot of the High Mountains of Ashor lies the hibernal city of Elior, former home of the Goddess' Light. The wen, which serves as life's sole setting for most of its inhabitants, appears as a conglomeration of wood and stone seemingly forgotten by the world outside its walls. Yet those who call Elior home know better than to believe in its obscurity - for the negligence of Men cannot dictate the actions of what humanity cannot own. The people of Elior are not alone in their isolation, and some monsters are closer than they'd like to think.

Amidst the chaos wrought by human folly festers an evil with neither face nor form. Elior's citizens know it only as The Plague - a foul contagion which seeps into the soul and turns humans into something not. No one knows its origin, but there are those who point their fingers at an ancient cult and practices so dark and so grim they were outlawed centuries ago. It is dread that shadows the confirmation of these fears. What the people do know, however, is that The Plague knows no favorites. There is no discrimination among its victims. Old and young, man and woman, rich and poor - no demographic has been spared its influence.

Those infected by The Plague show no symptoms until the last stage - the reforming - is near. Blackened nails and sclera are the first to appear, then body tremors. At this stage the victims can still be considered human, and killing them is no different than ending a normal person's life. Once the contamination progresses, once the body bends and twists and stretches until "human" is no longer an adjective, however, disposing of the infected can no longer be left to normal denizens. The "specialists" must be called in.

An eclectic group of individuals, these "specialists" claim no unified name. They are a group of executioners brought together for the sole purpose of eliminating the infected. Their reasoning are diverse and there are those who can scarcely be called human, but they all share one common trait: they're fatally adept at what they do.

PLOT
The surface-level premise of this RP is pretty straight forward: your characters will either be one of the so-called "specialists" responsible for hunting down and disposing of the infected, or a normal citizen trying to survive among the chaos. There will be an overarching plot at work, however, so expect the unexpected. Not everything has been revealed.

CATCH A GLIMPSE
Kletos Migdahl
... Kletos' shoulder cracked against the wall as he stumbled, the pounding of his heart drowning the rush of pain in a cacophony of sensation matched only by the throbbing of his skull. His breath was a shallow entity, rattling in the corridors of his lungs; with each inhale, the taste of blood in his mouth threatened to turn his stomach. He was a fool, beaten and sore and without a drop of alcohol to his name. If he'd known his plan would backfire so drastically, he wouldn't have gone alone. If he'd known the metallic tang of blood his blood would be the last thing to touch his tongue, he'd have brought his flask of prized whiskey. At least his end would have been more tolerable then...
