The hype train has reached its final destination. Months of whispers, then talk, led to a frenzy. All this for one game—Eleos: The Price of Salvation. The buzz was inescapable. Now, it was time for the game to prove it was worth the hype.

A few clicks. The game’s website glowed on a computer monitor. It glowed on millions of screens. Be it due to word of mouth, social media, or simply dedicated fans, the servers were struggling to deal with everyone viewing it. When the purchases start rolling in, the site only stays online through some miracle. Or a sound temporary investment, in more realistic terms.

With a few more clicks, one more copy of the game was exchanged. And after a few hours of downloading, another player would join the horde that had descended.

Nobody really cares about a game’s lore. Let’s read it anyways.

“Projections show Elea is approaching a limit on how much human life it can sustain…”

“Elea is running out of resources…”

    “Humans have reached a ceiling…”

Humanity is out of space. So they went to space to get more.

The Origin program, launched in 2087, aimed to colonize a nearby exoplanet seen as the best possible place for new life—a planet that at first glance could almost be mistaken for the homeworld. 42 Pausanias e. It was given the name Eleos.

Origin 1 and 2 went smoothly…mostly. The dozens of satellites that had arrived before mapped out the safest areas for them to observe. But then came the issue of the unsafe areas.

Eleos had conditions too good for life to not form. And so it did. Creatures evolved to be not dissimilar from Elea’s animals. However, in a phenomenon comparable to the Carboniferous period, Eleos has a high percentage of oxygen in its atmosphere, producing much larger life as a result. These larger lifeforms were also far stronger. This meant that some areas simply could not be controlled for extended periods of time by the minimal combat power of the many researchers and few soldiers that had been sent to take mankind’s first steps. Some pioneers learned this the hard way, with bases built in risky areas being abandoned or cut off from the grid.

And so its next steps would be steadier. However, only so much military power could be dedicated towards another planet. Tensions back home were rising, and homeland defense was more important than the future of a species.

Origin 1 had some soldiers. Origin 2 had more. Origin 3 would need mercenaries. So they were hired. The contracts were absurd, the task assigned alien (quite literally). But it was a job.

    It’s your job.

So from the moons the backup came, teleported from Elea onto the almost uninhabitable, scarred surface of the tiny natural satellite dubbed Janus and shuttled down to the planet, with little but the equipment on their backs and the guns in their hands.

It’s you (and your team (and the Federation)) against the world. And the world is against you. Welcome to Eleos. Your new home. Best of luck, explorer.
    Overview

Hello! This is a second, much more fleshed out attempt at an old RP idea that boils down to “some Dudes™ play an anime VR shooter and that’s about it,” in a similar setting to a certain terrible anime and its infinitely better spinoff. This is far less serious than either of those. This is not an intense, narrative, plot-driven RP. This is about the characters. What do they want, what do they do? Get sidetracked, I beg of you.
