Claudia hates silence more than anything else. If there’s other people around, she’ll talk to them. If there’s no one, she’ll talk to herself. She’s the kind of person to laugh at her own jokes. She loves having attention, relishing the spotlight, being able to play the role of the entertainer. But even as the designated clown, she’s chill. Her celebrations are muted at best and her anger seemingly doesn’t exist.

Seemingly. Underneath that persona is a validation desperate train wreck. Claudia needs to be successful, to be appreciated. She absolutely has to be fun. Else she’s just a waste of time. She reacts poorly to criticism, though it doesn’t show. The anger goes deeper than this layer. It goes deep, deep, deep down. Nice and buried, where it’ll never come out. Never.

    Backstory
What propels someone to make a living off the internet? What kind of person, knowing the million to one odds of any kind of success, the hours of labor and dedication, the way the online world works, would throw their entire life into that gamble?

Being able to play with house money helps.

Claudia loved making others happy. Still does. Her childhood was a cheerful time. As her mothers’ only child, she was the centerpiece of her own little world. Her parents, Harper and Levi, spoiled her, but she wasn’t the spoiled rotten type. A bit airheaded, but a good kid. The higher the peak, the lower the valley.

Her parents both got offered major promotions. More money, more work. They agonized over the decision, spending sleepless nights trying to decide what was better for them, for their precious Claudia.

They both took their opportunities. They got their raises, their extra benefits. They were spending more time at the office. Far, far more time. Longer hours met overtime. Long after Claudia had gone to bed. Long before she had woken up.

The child didn’t know why, but her beloved moms were all but gone. Sure, they bought her more gifts. Better vacations. The three moved into a bigger house. Claudia had freedom her friends envied. It wasn’t enough. The girl who could have anything couldn’t get what she wanted. So poetic it hurts.

If her life was a movie, then it would have ended around here. Her parents would have realized what was happening, gotten a different position, or even retired, and there would be a nauseatingly wholesome scene of the family back together. But there was no fairytale ending. They knew what was happening, of course, but neither tried to stop it. It made sense objectively, because the economy was the economy, but to Claudia? Nothing was right. So her teen years marched on like this, trampling her mentally as they usually do. She picked up video games around this point of her life.

As we all know, therapists aren’t real. Claudia was well set for a successful career. She could go to any college. But she became a streamer. Unsuccessful start, naturally. But she kept trying. From the start, she had her VTuber avatar, fully rigged. Money might not buy happiness, but it got people to work. Upper crust privilege didn’t hurt as much here. (The irony did.)

Every little thing was a milestone, a sign of growth. A follow, a donation, a sub. All unnecessary, yet she cherished each like a win of the lottery. Her community was small, but growing. Claudia wanted more. The internet was buzzing about a hot new game, and Claudia saw an opportunity of her own. So, she purchased a copy of Eleos.

    Appearance Desc
Claudia often jokes that this is the reason why she’s a VTuber. She’s plain. Brown hair, and though her eye color is an odd pink, her face on the whole is unremarkable. She often wears loose fitting clothes and has terrible posture.

Picky is the best word to describe Sonora.

Particular about everything, nothing goes unscrutinized under Sonora's watch. Nothing gets past them, and if something is wrong, they make sure everybody in the vicinity knows. Via yelling.

They have a very short temper, especially when it comes to handling other people. Humans are so... human. They make so many mistakes, it's irritating. NPCs in games can be even worse, but when it comes to enemies, that's really the best thing about them. No one is ever right until they do what Sonora wants.

But, along with their anger management issues and their perfectionism, they also have a lot of connections. Someway or another, they know a guy who knows a guy who has a cousin that knows a girl that knows how to get to you. Comes with being a pretty popular speedrunner, of course.

    Backstory

Being picky can lead to your downfall.

Being picky about the way someone's driving can lead to your death.

After an unfortunate accident involving grabbing the wheel of the car from the backseat, Sonora was landed in the hospital, and got to leave with minimal injuries. Their accompaniment, however, didn't get to leave at all.

Of course, this was totally, definitely, not at all Sonora's fault. But, coerced by some friends, they were convinced to do something about their anger and exactitude. And, well, instead of going to a professional or something dumb like that, they took to gaming.

Gaming didn't really help in lessening anything, but it did take their mind off of everything else. Now, instead of being meticulous about what everyone outside was doing, they were being meticulous about what everything in the game was doing. Though it did lead to many, many electronics being broken, it also lead to something beautiful.

They grew an infamous fanbase on the internet through their precision. Raising up in subscribers, they were only encouraged to yell and scream at their electronics.

After so much good press, their next victim was to be the hottest and newest MMO: Eleos: The Price of Salvation.

Unfortunately, they can't do it alone.

    Appearance Desc

They look a bit like a nerd with barely combed brown hair. Round glasses rest on a tanned, anxious face. They don't hold themselves up very high, usually keeping their body close.

upon first meeting hana, one might notice how detached she is from others. she seems not entirely present in the conversation and it's as if there's a certain level of disinterest, but that's hardly the case. distant as hana appears, she is starved for any sort of human interaction; she is a depressed girl desperate for connections with others, but she struggles greatly with communicating.

once she is more comfortable around others her personality will start to shine through, even if only a little bit. hana is a very bright, gentle person. she doesn't smile as much as she used to, but when she does it is almost always genuine. she's very understanding and patient with others, always happy to lend an ear to anyone who needs to talk. hana is a loyal friend, almost to a fault, and she would do anything for her loved ones.

despite her typically gentle demeanor and desperation to make connections with people, hana can be incredibly cold to anyone that has wronged her and hardly gives them the time of day. she doesn't appreciate being lied to, manipulated, or treated poorly in general. once someone has hurt her or anyone she cares about, there is very little chance they will ever get in her good graces again. hana may not seem the type to hold grudges, but she will take those feelings to her grave; she is not someone who forgives easily.
    Backstory
hana found out about eleos when the teaser trailers were released. it looked interesting and she continued to follow news on the game while she worked through a lot of personal shit, it was a needed distraction. eventually, her excitement for the game led to her pre-ordering a copy of eleos. she started playing it the day it officially launched and to her genuine surprise, her mother joined not long after.

    -- -- --

hana's childhood was relatively normal. she had loving parents and lived in a good neighborhood, went to a fantastic school, and had lots of friends; hana was someone that people were drawn to, someone who was frequently at the center of attention. she was happy.

myung and tae were always showering hana with love, they made sure she never felt alone and had a habit of spoiling her- tae especially. of course, hana adored both of her parents, but she was a daddy's girl through and through; hana and her father had an unbreakable bond. tae was the person she went to for just about everything, save for some of the more feminine issues she eventually had to deal with.

time passed, hana got older, changed schools, and made new friends all while her parents' relationship got rockier with each passing week. what started as small tiffs escalated into full-blown arguments. they tried their best to keep it quiet enough so they didn't disturb hana, they didn't want her to worry, but she knew better.

hana could hear each argument they had and although this wasn't every single day it was enough that it started to affect her as well. at first, she would listen to them. she didn't always understand what it was they were fighting about, but she was curious as to why her parents were so upset with each other. after a while, hana would just put headphones on and try to tune it all out. that's when she found her love for video games; they became a welcome distraction from the stress of her home life.

when hana wasn't out with friends or spending time with her father, she would be playing video games. she didn't have any specific preference for the types of games she played, anything that distracted her was enough. her parents' fights didn't seem to lessen, if anything they got worse, but at least she had something to help her forget all of that for a while.

hana returned home one night to find her parents already arguing. they stopped the minute they saw her, and greeted her like they always did with a hug and a kiss on the cheek before hana excused herself to her room to start her schoolwork. the night continued like any other, they had dinner, etc. the fighting didn't start until a couple of hours later. hana had been tuning it out for the most part, but something about this fight was different.

hana left her room to see what was going on and all she saw was her father leaving the house without a word; the silence that followed was deafening. she told herself they would figure it out, that they had to. tae would come home and he and myung could talk, it would be... somewhat okay?

unfortunately, that never happened. tae didn't return that night, nor did he return the next day. instead, officers showed up at their home and informed them that he had been killed in a car accident.

the months following that were some of the worst of hana's life. she shut herself in her room, she was skipping weeks of school and barely ate, and she wouldn't talk to anyone. not even her mother. after a while, hana was able to process some of her grief, but by the time she had done that the relationship between her and her mother was beyond repair.

four years have passed since then and their relationship hasn't changed in the slightest. with myung constantly working and hana worrying about her own schooling and work, they are basically two strangers living in the same home. at least, that's how it was until out of the blue myung reached out and began trying to reconnect with her.

hana didn't know what to make of it, after being absent from her life for so many years, her reaching out took her by complete surprise. although still angry about what happened to tae, a part of her is glad myung reached out; having lost one parent already, hana was scared that she was going to eventually lose her mother entirely. sure, they hardly spoke the past four years, but at the very least they acknowledged each other's existence... occasionally. this was a chance to start again and no matter how angry she might be, hana wasn't about to squander it.

myung ended up purchasing a copy of the game hana had been excited about, an MMO called eleos: the price of salvation. she didn't even know her mother had noticed her interest in the game, or maybe she saw the bill when hana preordered it. regardless of how myung found out, perhaps this could help mend their relationship in some way. while hana would have preferred going out for coffee or something, this was a good first step.
    Appearance Desc

hana is, by society's standards, a beautiful girl with her very petite and slender frame, straight jet-black hair, a rather pale complexion, and deep brown eyes.
truthfully, she despises her appearance as she sees herself as very plain and boring to look at. despite this hatred for herself, hana still takes great care of the way she appears to others.

    Personality

For the majority of Myung's life, she was raised with high expectations and standards of keeping utterly professional. Having lived through the harsh reprimands as a child, it molded her into a woman with an always sharp glare and cutthroat tone of voice. The professional act has ingrained in her so much that, while it makes for a scary boss at her job, does not fit anywhere else—she realizes that, yet has no idea how to fix that. She can be strict with the quotas and harsh enough that her co-workers dare not to make a mistake in her presence, but otherwise...? Myung does not know how to express any other emotion.

Outside of work, her persona is awkward and quiet. The softest she acts is when she's with her family, but even then she has trouble showing how much she truly cares about them. Myung is used to shouldering all her burdens to herself, which has resulted in lashing out to others when they don't deserve it, and having a notable aura when she's truly upset. Even if she feels remorse, it's not like she knows how to apologize... no matter how extensive the damage is...

    Backstory

    tl;dr
Myung is a strict section manager at her office job. She married a man named Tae and had a child, Hana. Years later, Tae and Myung got in a nasty argument because of her rising toxicity and anger issues. Tae left the house in his car, but got caught in an accident. His death shook the family, causing Hana to shut herself in and Myung to blame herself for everything. Myung's guilt was so great that she could not bear reconnecting with her daughter, and Hana herself grew distant as well.

Only recently, Myung was diagnosed with a terminal cancer. Faced with destined mortality, she reflected on her life. Desperately wanting to fix what mistakes she can, Myung forcefully reconnected with Hana, and is trying her hardest to rekindle their old, loving relationship. Hana is eagerly looking forward to a new video game, and what better way to fondle a relationship than by playing with them?

    +++

Myung does not play video games. The last time she touched one, the best graphics were 8-bit pixels, and used a big and janky console. Rather than video games having any sort of role to play in life, Myung was raised to be the working member of society you'd find anywhere in South Korea. Aside from her family's high expectations that set her path onward, her life up to adulthood was fairly straightforward.

Her efforts landed her in a high-end office job, where she donned a no-nonsense demeanor and strictly performed her every duty and more. She'd eventually rise the ranks and be promoted as her section's manager.

But while all of this is simple on paper, Myung's mentality has been a constant battlefield. With her teachings being to steel herself and be on top of everything, showing no "weakness," she never learned what to do when she did not need to put on the act. At school, she never knew how to befriend others, least of all keep up a conversation or cooperate in group assignments. It was a repeating cycle of pushing others away, and only keeping herself company with working harder and harder.

She realized full well how her attitude affected others, but it wasn't like she could apologize. The only apologies she knew were formal business ones, reserved for higher-ups.

The only one who seemed to understand was her to-be husband, Tae Seong-hun. Possibly the most patient man she'd ever had the pleasure of meeting. He was a co-worker who joined around the same time she did, and though she initially pushed him away like everyone else, it was his persistent optimism that chipped away at her exterior. Eventually, he became the one person she knew how to open up to in private.

After they married, they had a daughter, Hana, whom she loved dearly.

As fate would have it, though, it was his patience that enabled conflict. Myung was not used to people sticking by her side for so long. It fostered insecurities, anxiety, you name it. Each time she vented to Tae, it gradually became worse and worse. He would become a target instead of the listener. As time went on, Myung's toxicity only got worse and worse.

It all came to a head one day when Tae's patience finally broke. It was the biggest argument they'd ever had, and ended when Tae wordlessly walked out their house and drove off. When he did not return, Myung angrily assumed he'd left to stay at some family's house for the night.

The next day, though, only a few officer returned.

Tae and another driver crashed, hospitalizing one and killing the other. Her husband was the casualty.

Hana holed up in her room, silent. Myung was left with only her thoughts. If she hadn't argued so much—if she didn't push him away like everyone else—he would never have left. He would have survived... It was all her fault, this time. Her fault the only man who cared about her had died. Her fault Hana lost her father.

Myung returned to the only thing she knew could keep her mind at bay: work—stricter than ever before. Eaten away by guilt, she couldn't bring herself to have a proper talk with her daughter. The two drifted apart since then, barely speaking to each other despite living in the same house.

It has been four years since then, and nothing has gotten better nor worse.

Not until recently. Myung visited the doctor after a long period of feeling unwell. It is there she was diagnosed with a terminal cancer. They did not yet know how much time she had left.

Already, she was faced with mortality. Only then did her restless mind settle, and memories long ago flooded back. All her life, she'd only made mistakes, and buried her true feelings. Mistakes that would go forever unfixed if she continued her life as it was... There was one thing that came to mind, first: Hana.

After many years, she finally reached out to her daughter, albeit more awkwardly than how it used to be. The sudden willingness to be part of her life probably took Hana by complete surprise, but Myung did not want to waste another second. Rather than hide behind the excuse that she did not know how to start changes like this, she took it on regardless, hoping for the best...

Hana is eagerly looking forward to a new game coming out, and what better way to connect with others than playing with them? Such was Myung's logic, despite knowing nothing about video games or how this one worked. She only has one goal, after all, and not much time to waste.

    Appearance Desc

Myung learned from her mother the importance of taking care of one's body, and has stuck to those teachings routinely. She stands straight and tall with sleek, black hair falling along her back. Her skin looks perfect for her age. Her makeup is intricately applied. Myung pays special attention to her wardrobe as well, taking every factor of fashion into consideration for something as simple as a regular walk. If one wants to succeed in life, they have to look the part... or so her mother says.

Overworked, stressed out, and on the brink of breaking down every time someone talks to him, Ryo is an Introvert by nature, and has to put on a brave face every time he steps into the courtroom. It isn't that he doesn't enjoy his work- its the fact that he has to be in the center of attention every time he speaks that whittles his sanity down, bit by bit. He would rather have been a gun aficionado, and geek out over military specs, than poring over case details, but alas, his good results in school and his parents' expectations kept him from ever pursuing what he loved.

Ryo does not like being the 'face' as it were, even if he is fairly competent in it. Whenever he dabbles in games in his free time, he always maintains mic silence, or answers in short, and terse sentences, a far cry from his eloquent speech at work.

Like the ideal legal defender he aspires to be but has since realised it is impossible in the dog-eat-dog world of legal practices, Ryo tends to play defensively and supportively, backing up his teammates in anyway he can.

    Backstory
Ryo Takeshi is 32 years old, and graduated top of his class. He is considered an extremely prominent defense attorney amongst various law firms. Despite his clear ability, he currently chooses to work at Higashi Law Office, a fairly small office situated at the corner of a shopping district. He is single, and has never been in a relationship. He has a fairly okay relationship with his parents.

Ryo enjoys games for what they are- games. He likes winding down from a long week of paperwork, footwork, and work in general. He enjoys being another person entirely in a entirely different world than this one. He could be anyone he wanted to be, and he could do anything he wanted to do. To protect and serve, that was the dream, and always had been. He got into several VR milsim games, and started picking up quite a bit of knowledge on firearms, and has, ever since, been pursuing them to make up for his country's stringent gun control laws.

Eleos had been in his wishlist ever since it was announced, so when it released, he was one of the first to grab it.

    Appearance Desc

Ryo Takeshi looks like any normal Japanese office worker. Short, dark hair, slicked back in an attempt to appear neat, with tired, sullen eyes. His features are moderately good-looking, and he is a fit man- he just looks like he's always this close to slumping over.

    Personality

Johann von Kaiser is the image of noblesse oblige: dignified, refined, and eloquent. His movements are graceful, borne out of years of etiquette training. His every word flows with charm, carefully calculated to get into people's good graces. He flits about the various social circles his family dabbles in, comfortable in the sweeping dances of the ballroom, as well as the dimly lit tables of a music club. As the firstborn son of nobility, Johann bears every expectation and burden placed upon his shoulders.

Normally, people like Johann tend to have secret, twisted sides to them that bring a juicy contrast to their character. But Johann genuinely relishes in his upbringing, and it shows. He is a natural extrovert, friendly, outgoing, and generous on top of that. He enjoys using his family's vast wealth and his own ventures to fund charities, give subs to small-time streamers, and invest in crowdfunded projects that interest him. He likes making sure his friends enjoy the perks of living a life of nobility, from bringing them to a private island vacation, to buying every premium item for their characters in various online games.

But herein lies Johann’s fatal flaw: he is too kind. This leads to becoming too loose with finances, too gullible when it comes to things he really shouldn’t be spending money on. It isn’t that he’s easy to take advantage of, but that it takes little effort to get into his good graces. He also gets stumped when all his charm fails to win over someone, because when he’s giving them what they want, why wouldn’t they want to be his friend?

    Backstory

The von Kaiser family is one of prestige and military might, having participated in two World Wars, albeit on the losing side. Despite this, through cunning negotiations and well-placed investments, the von Kaiser family was able to weather the various tragedies that battered Europe. They were able to come out as one of the richest and most distinguished nobility in Western Germany.

Into this family was born Johann von Kaiser, firstborn of Frederick von Kaiser, and with a single laugh he immediately captured the hearts of the entire family. He grew up in a loving environment, pampered and cared for by the best money can offer. Not only that, both his parents insisted on actively doting on him despite their busy schedules, fostering a familial bond that helped shape Johann into the person who would eventually become known as the kindest, most generous streamer in the world.

As the Golden Fox, Johann made a name for himself through generous donations to other streamers and players, as well as clothing every avatar of his in the best premium items their respective games had to offer. He also regularly hosts raffles that give prizes like rare items or ultimate weapons, all paid for out of his own pocket. Because of this, he quickly became a favorite on the web. His parents fully support his work as a streamer, seeing it as another way of showing noblesse oblige to the masses.

Truthfully, Johann’s father was looking to invest into the VR gaming industry, which played a part in his acceptance of Johann as Golden Fox. So when Eleos was released to the public, Frederick pulled every string he could to ensure that Johann gets one of the first copies of the game. From there, Frederick hoped that by playing it, Johann could learn more about the VR industry as a whole, and whether those who developed and published Eleos were worthwhile to invest into in the future.

    Appearance Desc

With his blond hair and bright, blue eyes, Johann easily catches people’s attention. While his height is uncommon amongst German people, he more than makes up for it with his youthful countenance. Looks can be deceiving though, as beneath his gentle apperance lies lean muscles on a fit body, borne from a family-mandated regular training schedule.

Hafa is a calm and fun-filled person who values scheduled life and honors punctuality. She's collected and knows where she stands in the world, but despite this, makes too many spontaneous choices. This has allowed her many unique opportunities, and an equal amount of mishaps. So often so, she realizes almost too easily that the messes she gets into are her fault. This hasn't stopped her from doing this same thing, over and over again. Even so, she's learned how to flip her missteps into means of achieving goals and sees decisions through. Though living up to a particular standard, Hafa is lenient with even the most outlandish of people so long as there's a level of respect, even in subtle actions. Overall Hafa goes through life as it's presented to her and lives day by day.

    Backstory

Most of Hafas life was grounded in reality. most of her fun came from exploring the neighbor's houses or going outside. She didn't watch cartoons or read fiction, it seemed mediocre to her.

She started playing VR games when she worked as a babysitter. One day the children asked her to play a horror game on the family's VR headset. It went as well ask you could imagine but Hafa enjoyed the concept. She purchased her headset a little more than a year later. She won Eleos in an online raffle. Well not really it was more her cousin watching the video in a live stream. However she couldn't receive it since she was under 18 so she gave it to Hafa.

She now lives with two uncles and some cousins, in a decent-sized apartment. Besides, she works mornings as a barista for a local cafe, and her afternoon jobs change. She's gone from babysitting, to house sitting, to dog walking, and rotates weekly between them.

    Appearance Desc

Hafa grounded her style into a mash of 90's style pieces and t-shirts with her favorite graphics on the backs. She'll always wear a face mask and something over her eyes, whether it's fake glasses or a pair of shades. Her brown eyes pop to complement her brown pink-undertoned skin. And she'll mix different colors of eyeliner around her long lashes. She takes care to make sure her clothes are loose, comfy, and fit for whatever weather but has been underdressed once or twice for certain occasions.
