Ember, Lilith

Ruby and Lilith

Night. A time where it was her favorite time, she looked at her assignments and yawned. She checked the time and it was already past 4 AM, she rubbed her eyes softly, the sound of writing still audible. But soon the purple-haired lady dozed off, her head falling into her assignments.

Dreams rarely occurred to Ray, since they were always something she hated; something that would never happen. But this one felt different. Everywhere she walked was like cold ice, but everywhere she looked there was no light. She searched for something, however she flinched when her foot touched water. She wanted to yelp but no sound came out. She looked into the water, there was only a blurry reflection of herself. Chills ran up her spine when she heard footsteps behind her, she was too late to look at who it was as she pushed into the water head first. She screamed with every ounce of her body. Flailing helplessly against the dark water which felt as if it only wanted to strangle her throat.

When she opened her eyes again she was out of the water, somewhere else. Far away from where she was. It was the slums. A small little girl with messy dark hair appeared in front of her with rags for clothes and her glass blue eyes were hollow and dead. The girl passed right through Ray's body which made her flinch.

The girl looked at a beautiful woman with ruby red eyes and black hair just like night, she smiled at her and walked hand-in-hand. Before Ray could process anything she fell into the water again, this time it felt deeper more darker, her breath running out once again. She clutched her face, screaming. Even if she didn't hear it, she could feel her voice grow hoarse. She closed her eyes, wishing this was done. Wishing everything was over. She then felt the darkness go away, then the scene changed. A young lady... her. It was herself. It was like watching a mirror however she moved away just like a shadow. she looked at her hands, she didn't know when however when she looked in front of her again there was a mirror, and her hair grew longer, her clothes different.

Horror was all she felt. Who was she? This wasn't her. It wasn't. Just when she seemed to lose all understanding the lady from the last flashback appeared.

"I'm so sorry Lilith... I meant to tell you sooner, please. Don't go." she whispered, as her eyes glimmered with tears.

"You were the one who lied."

"You were the one who lied."

Ray instantly felt her voice match another woman's perhaps... the girl she was in. They had similar voices, however the girls was much more angrier. Words coming out which didn't belong in Ray's mouth flowed like a river, as if she had once said these exact words. But she had never seen either of the two ladies.

"I know... but I promise you, I will always, always love you." she sobbed. Her ruby eyes looking passionately into Ray's glassy eyes and somehow, she could truly relate with these words.

"You don't love me." she whispered, she was startled this time it was only her voice or maybe it was her imagination since they were too much in sync. The woman's image shattered and she took a step back and that's when she fell again.

She opened her eyes as fast as she could, and she gasped for air. She was still in the same place as yesterday, right asleep on her assignments. Sweat slicking her forehead. She felt a sudden wave of nausea overtake her. She ran to the bathroom, getting ready to vomit but nothing came out. She wanted to scream and cry. But she held it in. Her muscles felt weak.

She locked the bathroom. Holding back a sob. No one has ever mentioned love. She hated it. Hated it. She covered her mouth trying to make herself disappear in a ball. She wished she could be like a shadow. She could follow someone bright, but watch from afar. Maybe be loved... who knows. She was already like one but she pushed people away. Liars. She quickly got out of the bathroom. She changed her clothes a bit, but remained with her boots. She grabbed her pack and looked at the time she looked around for her roomate, Ember, before she left the room.

Atrioch

Laying on his couch, Slav looked up. A loose smile laced his lips as he gazed at the ceiling. His roommate, Chris, had just went to bed, so he got up and went to the balcony and sat on one of the beach chairs. Laying back as the early fall breeze blew across his face, his eyes on the heavens. Tonight was an unusually clear night, and he smiled as he tried to find the constellations his mother had taught him so many years back. He was lulled slowly to sleep by the sound of falling leaves and the occasional dog. His eyes slowly shut as he fell into a deep sleep.

Leaves rustled in the faint moonlight, and quieter footsteps weaved through the shadows. Dark cloak flapping, a lone figure hurried through the silent street of the small city. Weaving through allies, stepping over the occasional drunk, and under archways, this person strode with determination. A beam of light from a nearby lamp post casted a pale glow on the face... a face of a young man. His eyes hard but full of excitement, his lips pulled in an expectant smirk. But soon the glow was gone as he once again dove into the shadows, hiding next to a barrel as a lone guard passed by. A careful ear would have heard a minute sizzle, like that of a thin break of electricity. Turning the corner, the young man grabbed onto the top of a carriage. Some wealthy son was enjoying the pleasures of life, leaving his carriage vulnerable hoodlums, but for our man it was just a step-ladder onto the roof. Jumping from roof to roof, the careful ear once again would hear a quiet sizzle, as if he was using lightning to charge his jumps. Traversing via roof, the man reached his destination quickly. It was a old building, in need of repairs. But inside was something else. Jumping over the fence into the expansive garden, he nearly whistled at the neat cobble stone pathways and pruned rose bushes. It showed that it was not an abandoned building, but a thriving lab of magic. A small consciousness piked up. Looking around, it realized it wasn't were it was suppose to be. Somehow it knew what the building was, but before it could process further it was sucked back into the man's perspective. Pulling a rope from an astral bag at his hip, he looped it, and then tossed it up onto one of the weathered stone gargoyles. Then with superhuman agility, he climbed up the building, totally ignoring the rope. Tapping the window closest to the gargoyle, the glass started to melt, and soon there was no more glass. Unfortunately this approached also caused the wooden frame to smolder, but a quick spray over of some liquid immediately cooled the area. Then climbing all the way to the roof, the young man went to the front of the building, before discreetly opening a topmost window, which connected to the attic. Once in, the small conscious could feel the glee emanating from the figure. Rifting through boxes, the man put different items into his bag, and once he cleared out all he wanted, he stopped before a tall rectangular object covered in silk. Pulling off the sheet, it was a solid piece of silver. And the reflection... it wasn't the young man, but... the conciseness suddenly became bigger. "Vlad..." it said softly, remembering himself. The reached out, and reflection Vlad put out his hand too. The consciousness --Vlad-- felt a sudden immursion of emotions. Those emotions turned into static colors, scents, textures, sounds, and tastes. All those tiny particules of information started to surge and form shapes. Those shapes moved. And soon a whole life was played before Vlad's eyes. It was his... and yet it wasn't. It felt familiar, but odd. There was something else... a source of power, that he could see, smell, feel, hear, and taste, and yet was out of reach.

Lurching up, Vlad was breathing heavy. "Holy shit, reincarnation is real!" An excited, and maybe slightly mad, smile formed on his face and endless possibilities danced in side his mind.

Dustin was fighting to stay awake, his head nodded and his eyes slid in and out of focus, but he wasn't done the chapter yet...he had to finish for the module quiz tomorrow...but he also had to get up for the early shift at the clinic in the morning before classes...Ugh, it was only the first week, how was he going to survive this?
Those were the final thoughts before his mind was pulled away from consciousness. His head slumped onto the open book and sleep dragged him into darkness.

Dustin has the sensation of falling...he felt weightless, the s crisp smell of a frozen wind. The sun was blinding as he hurtled away from it, towards the dark shadows between the mountains. Then something blotted it out, a shape, large and feathered, with great antlers tracing curved patterns against the light. He reached out to it, felt his hand close on soft, thick fur. The larger shape fell past him and he felt the pull as he held on. There was a saddle there, on the creature's back and it's curve felt familiar, like it was crafted just for him.

One sharp move and great wings unfurled on either side of him. There was a great bellow as the monster pulled up. Gravity surged and Dustin couldn't help but laugh as they defied it, he and this strange but wonderous beast. Peryton. He didn't know that word but, somehow he knew that was the type of animal it was.

Dustin glaned over the peryton's shoulder, down at the snowy landscape below. At first he thought it was the mountains by his home in winter, but the buildings, carved stone in strange styled and glittering rooftops, coned and odd. It seemed familiar and yet completely alien.
They flew lower and Dustin waved to someone on the ground, standing on the steps of one of the grandest structures. Her white hair fluttered in the cold morning breeze. Dustin grinned, even as he wondered who this girl was. He acted as if this place was his, and he knew everything and everyone in it.

Then the scene changed. The light began to fade into a sickly dark red. Shadows bloomed out of the corners of his vision. There was a stabbing pain in his chest, he saw the peryton falling. It wings stretched out above it, feathers trickling like rain from its body.

Dustin awoke with a cry. There were tears in his eyes and they spattered the page of his open book as he started. He rubbed his face frantically, but the horrible feeling of failure...that stayed.

Dustin finished his clinic shift just in time for the cafeteria to open for breakfast. The smell of freshly-made coffee revived him somewhat, but he still had the feeling he looked like death warmed over. He was not ready for the test...but at least there was coffee.
He helped himself to a mug before anything else, and then sat on a bench outside the door, staring into it, thinking back to that strange dream that seemed to cling to his mind. The feelings still swirled around him too, refusing to let him forget, no matter how much he wanted to...

Ember had drunk one too many drinks that night and passed out in her bed, as she nodded off she found herself in a picturesque mountain range surrounded by volcanos. She saw a redhead girl that looked an awful lot like her soaring through the air on the back of the coolest dragon Ember had ever seen. He was Red and had shiny scales and he was breathing fire as he glided through the sky. The dragon and the girl on it's back looked very familiar as Ember felt a wave of deja vu. The dragon swooped down towards the ground and landed gracefully on the stone and the girl proceeded to climb off it's back. "Thanks for the ride Blaze, It was so much fun!" the girl said to the Dragon. "Of course Cymbeline, I always have fun riding with you." The Dragon responded to the girl, smiling back at her. "Cymbeline? Why does that name sound so familiar?" Ember thought to herself. The dream then shifted and Ember found herself standing in front of a mirror, however the reflection staring back at her was not her own but the girl that was riding on the back of the dragon, her past self, Cymbeline. The reflection in the mirror then spoke, her voice rung out "It is time to wake up dear and unleash your fire." Ember jolted awake, searching the area for her roommate Ray, after finding the room empty she heads down to the cafeteria to get a cup of coffee before her upcoming exam. She entered the cafeteria and got herself a cup of coffee, the voice and words from the dream still echoing in her head, she brushed them off and in an attempt to drown them out, she took a nip of Peanut Butter Skrewball Whiskey out of her pocket and dumped it in her coffee before quickly shoving it back in her pocket before anyone could see. She saw her fellow veterinary classmate Dustin sitting alone on a bench with his own coffee and decided to join him. She walked over and took a seat next to Dustin on the bench, took a sip of her spiked coffee, and said "Hey Dustin, I am NOT ready for that test today, what about you?" and she gave him a smile.

~Arthur~
Mentions: Juniper, Charcoal_Lilly50 Charcoal_Lilly50

Arthur closed the door to his room, letting out a big sigh. It had been quite a day. He had the opportunity to make a new friend and spend more time with one he hadn't seen in a while. Arthur made his way to his bed, taking off his shoes one after another before climbing into bed. He didn't bother getting under the blanket or putting on pajamas. The excitement of this morning had finally worn off, leaving him exhausted. Not a few minutes later, Arthur fell asleep.

Arthur felt himself awaken, his eyes opening and expecting to see the wall or ceiling of his room, but instead found himself looking up at a metal ceiling. Sitting up and looking around, Arthur could hardly believe that he was seeing what looked like the inside of a ship. He had been on plenty of ships and even large boats before, but none like this. At least, not that he could remember. It all felt so familiar. He felt like he belonged. Arthur felt sluggish and stiff, moving very slowly up and out of the bed and making his way to the door. Once he was out into the hallway, he looked to his left and right to try to take in his surroundings but found everything to be a blur.

Before he knew it, he was standing on the deck of a ship that was somehow flying through the air. Arthur could feel and taste the cold fresh air. The moment of serenity and absolute freedom was short-lived, as he noticed a man standing at the very front of the ship right near the edge, staring ahead. Arthur felt a familiar feeling that drew him to walk toward the stranger. One step after another, each movement still accompanied by the feeling of trudging through great resistance. When he got close enough to the man that he could shout over the deafening gusts of wind he just now realized were present, Arthur spoke. "Are you me?! You?!" He couldn't get his words or thoughts right, he wanted to ask the man if he was Arthur, or if Arthur were him. His words felt jumbled and despite his shouting, no sound came from his own lips.

The man turned around as if he had indeed heard the shouting. Arthur couldn't make out his features, but he felt like he was looking into a mirror. "I am you," the man responded. For some reason, Arthur couldn't help but be angry at the response. This man wasn't him. He was him. "I am not you!" Arthur tried shouting back defiantly. He fought to move closer to the man but felt himself becoming more and more constricted in his movement. Over and over he shouted silently as his vision blurred further into blackness. "I am not you! I'm not you! I'M NOT YOU!"

Arthur gasped awake, his eyes snapping open as the words left his mouth, though not nearly as loud as he thought they might be, "I'm not you." He looked around, slightly frantic as he realized he had fallen off his bed and moved partially underneath it in his sleep, his blanket wrapped around him in such a way that his arms were stuck against him caught in place and his legs were crammed underneath his bed. When Arthur had fully awoken, he let out a big sigh, almost relieved to be back in his room. He was almost convinced that he had returned from another world. Arthur laughed a little at the relief before untangling himself and getting up from the floor.

He fell back into his bed, letting out another big sigh while he stared at the ceiling. Arthur went for his phone, checking the time and being oddly surprised at how early it was despite him feeling so refreshed and awake. This was definitely one he would have to tell Juniper about. No matter how crazy he might sound.

"Ohmygod." Dutin started at the voice. His coffee sloshed dangerously but by some miracle, not a drop spilled. He had been so caught up in his own thoughts he hadn't even noticed his classmate sit down beside him. He stared at her in surprise: surprised she had chosen to sit beside him, and surprised she was actually talling to him. It took a while before her words began to make sense to him.

"Oh, yeah! No, yeah, I'm totally screwed." Dustin laughed. "Who makes a quiz the first week? Our prof is a monster."
He smiled through his fatigue.
"Sorry, I'm Dustin. I've seen you in class but I didn't get your name. And I'm sorry for spacing out before, I just had...weird dreams last night."
Maybe that was oversharing to a complete stranger, but Dustin felt compelled to tell her.

Character: Quintin
Location: On top the main Cafeteria Fridge in the Kitchen
Timing: Midnight to Morning
Interactions: None... yet

Did you ever have that dream that felt like it should have been real to you, but wasn't? Like a movie playing your life before your eyes except it wasn't your life yet it felt like it should have been. The darkly lit caverns the long oblique resonance of light off strange and foreign vegetation, the howls of wolfs whose fir looked to be made from vaporized shadows exuding off their forms with graceful ominous howls serenading the night. The gust of wind of a bat like dragon flapping like a hallucination as it passed on by. All of this was of a tired mind playing a fantasy no? Yet Quintin felt like it was all there the shadows of the underground world he currently walked... felt so a part of his souls. He could hear all life around him... knew what it was, how it functioned.

Than the feeling of rot, and dread started to creep into the land, and into Quintin's head as he turned around to someone he had never seen before... and almost strangely made him feel like he was looking... at... a past life. The figure draped in shadows simply stood there as all life around was devoured, set a flame, removed forever from the worlds. Uncontrollably crimson tears started to run down his cheeks emotions he had never felt before overtaking him into overlord as he tried to yell for it all to stop, but no words would escape his mouth, and as everything was burned to the ground eroded from history the shadow walked up to him, his eyes the only seeable part of his faces crying those same tears as it spoke.

"All dreams must come to a end someday... so to must this nightmare of mine past to you... you know so little now... but will have to travel so far to regain my strength to keep both this life, and your last safe," Quintin was confused by all of this yet as the shadow spoke a name resurfaced to his memory... Alivar. Before anything else could be said a monstrosity of a being appeared behind the shadow lugging a disease looking abomination of a weapon bringing it down to cut the shadows head clean....

"AHH," Quintin jumped to life as the nightmare ceased, and he returned to the waking world. Breathing heavily as his heart beated louder than a drum he took in his surroundings.. why did everything look so far away from him... especially the ground... oh.

"Ah... okay... slept on the fridge again,"
he chuckled having a moment of sanity as his brain reprocessed the dream still clear as day. His head hurting trying to forgot the dream, but his mind refused to let it go. Was that all real? Was it a past life? It was hard to say at the moment as he sat up on the fridge his feet dangling in front of the doors to the food preserver.

She found herself on a dirt road underneath a light that seemed to buzz louder than the night. Two fences traveled along side the path, creating a barrier for the half grown farm land waiting behind it. The sky was pitch black, nothing but a subtle rumble of thunder whispered back to her. Nothing could be seen beyond the void, nothing besides what the road lamp granted her.
Alvara blinked, feeling as though she had been stuck in thought for ages, only now realizing where she was. The pressure in the air was heavy, it was too thick and sticky. She opened her mouth to call out-

"They brought me back?" A voice murmured, lacing the air around her. A paused followed.
"What a sinister way to punish me. Perhaps hell wasn't good enough."

Alvara felt her body tense up, like the very blood steaming in her body had gripped and tightened. She tried to choke, to cry, but silence followed.
"This world... it's interesting. Luscious is the wind that blows lightly. But when it picks up speed, they point and they cry. They die."

Thunder rumbled.

"I suppose that's fitting for us."

It rumbled again, louder. Deep in the clouds light furled, tapping the sky dully before vanishing again.

"I had the chance to show you the world you came from, and yet, something about this place seemed better... But, in some ways, I guess that's a lie. Do you want to know the real reason you're here and not there?"

A sudden shriek lifted into the air, howling towards the sky, causing the Earth to tremble. It took a few moments before Alvara realized what they were.
Sirens.

Suddenly the sky lit up in a flash, lightning pouring down from the sky to light up the world below. Ahead loomed a wall of wind, bigger than a god, taller than a world. Its shadow echoed with each burst of light in the sky, inching nearer. There would be no running.
A whisper tickled her ear,

"Because you don't deserve it."

Alvara whipped around, her heart pounding in her throat. Before her stood a woman twice her size, gleaming down at her with hatred that tasted like blood in her mouth. But there was no questioning it. This woman was herself.
The wind began picking up around them, and before long the silence was interrupted by a thousand winds that sounded like a thousand screams whistling in the air. It rooted up the fences and tore away the light. But before the wind could tear her limbs and eat her sight, the two joined together in painful, reeking spite.

AVON
Mentions: Quintin Azurian Dream Azurian Dream

Avon found himself surrounded by fog, an endless ocean of pea soup. He had been wandering around for awhile, long having suspect it was a dream. Of course he had to dream about an endless maze of fog, and not something interesting like a bloody crime scene or a distant land far, far away. Instead he was like he usually was anyways, locked alone with his thoughts.
A shiver ripped through his spine as a cold drop of water plopped on his head. Avon looked up, confused, reaching up to touch his hair before another one found its way to his nose. It happened in a moments notice, the sudden downpour of water droplets. Avon felt himself stumble back as the water began to rise above his feet before looking back up and feeling his heart thump. Each water drop held an image, and that image formed a misty man in front of him. He was reading a book, smiling and whistling away. When he finally noticed Avon, his eyes gleamed in a sudden burst of excitement.
"Look at you! What a sturdy young man," He cooed, "With eyes dark and grim and a heart full of shallow pieces. Righty then, why couldn't I have started off in your shoes? I'd have had more to write about."
Avon was at a loss for words. What the hell was this?
"But there's no time to lose," The man went on, "I've got so much to teach myself!"
Something beneath the water gripped Avon's ankles and tore him down into the water, his scream following with it. Instead of a body of water, however, Avon found himself falling straight out of the sky. Below him were lands and mountains deviated by element, and shockingly, he somehow knew each area by heart.
“'Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage.' Anais Nin. Tell me, me, how courageous are you feeling?” The man was falling along side him, although in a sitting posture, as though he had done this a million times before.
Avon looked over at him, feeling his heart pound and his stomach burn. For the first time in a long time, he cracked a smile. This had been the most exhilarating thing he had been through in a while.
"You tell me." Avon replied. The man laughed before they cascaded into an ocean below. The water seemed to trail at Avons finger tips, slithering around his body, reminding him of familiar memories.
"This world is a book full of memories," The man continued, somehow echoing his thoughts clearly through the deep waters, "It needs you to wake up and pick up that pen again. Won't you do it again, me?"
That question repeated itself in his mind over and over,
until Avon opened his eyes and breathed again.
__________________________________________________________________________

He was hungry. The last thing he needed to deal with after waking up from a great dream was the reality of people, but there one was - dangling his legs over the shared fridge with milk in it. Avon rolled his eyes and walked to the fridge, glaring up at the man with pure disinterest. "Hey. Move." He mumbled.

Ember laughed in return. "Haha, you're good. I had a pretty weird dream last night too, which is why I added a little something stronger than coffee in my coffee" She gave him a nervous smile. "Same though, I am very much also screwed. Oh, I'm Ember by the way, maybe we could study together sometime." She wrote her number down on a piece of paper and handed it to him.
As she handed him the piece of paper, an image flashed in her mind of Cymbeline, the red-haired girl from her dream riding on the back of Blaze, the red dragon from her dream and a boy, the name Orion comes to mind, who looks a lot like Dustin on the back of an angelic looking pure white dragon, who she vaguely recalls being named Celeste. She shook the image from her mind before coming back to the present situation.

Dustin smiled back when she mentioned the spiked drink. "My lips are sealed."
He blinked in surprise, and a little disbelief when Ember began writing her phone number down on a piece of paper.
"You want to study with me? I mean, Yeah! Of course! I think I'll need all the help I can get!"
He reached out to take the paper and his fingers brushed hers for a split second. In that moment a vision came flooding into his head:
A warm breeze, the gentle glow of firelight on white scales and...the face of a girl, one that looked like Ember, but different somehow. He had the same feeling he did when he had dreamed that night.

Dustin nearly recoiled from the touch. He looked at Ember in a moment's discountenance, his emotions for one moment plain as day on his face.
What in the world was that?
When he looked at Ember again he felt a sense of familiarity, like they had been friends for a long time. He couldn't explain it, but somehow, he felt more himself than he would normally around someone he had just met.

"Hey, did you eat yet? You wanna grab something before class?"
He rose slowly and thumbed at the cafeteria door.
"At the very least, I need a comfort bagel before I bomb this test."

Ember felt comfortable around Dustin and he felt easy to talk to. "No, I haven't eaten yet. That sounds nice, I'd love to grab something with you. Dustin felt his cheeks warm under the compliments.
"One thing I do have is a good sense of direction. I'll walk you to class no problem," he beamed.
Her laugh, when he heard it, raised his spirits a little, and the dark feelings from the dream began to subside. The subtle, icy feeling of not belonging, a secret feeling that had camped in his mind since he first arrived here...that started to leave too, and for the first time, Dustin began to believe that being away from home might not be so bad...

The cafeteria was just getting started, Dustin grabbed a tray for Ember before taking one himself. He found more coffee, a giant chocolate chip cookie and...his beloved bagels. Toasted to perfection in one of the old toasters propped up on a table at the back. Now all he needed was the cream cheese, and that was...in the fridge.

Legs. Dustin's prize seemed guarded by a pair of them, grey-jean covered and lanky, that dangled in front of the fridge doors. There was already another student trying to get them out of the way.
Dustin pressed his lips as he glanced back at Ember, trying to hide a smile. He tried a more friendly tone:
"Hey buddy," He called up to the owner of the legs.
"Rough night?"
His bagel was visible on the tray in his hands, cooling quickly and very much in need of the topping this stranger unwittingly barred it from.

As Quintin was clearing his head a new voice of disinterest popped up gaining Quintin's ire for the unsettling haunting dream. The culinary master in the works looked down at a rather scruffy individual slung with arm tattoos' clearly the type that probably wasn't use to being pushed back. Quintin in his short height though was very use to dealing with the like as he was about to give the man a piece of his mind, but the words that came out of his mouth did not match the ones he intended to use.

"Bold words for a fish in a net," just like that the workd seemed to suddenly swirl into a acid trip showing that same shadowy man from his dream standing over a man who had been snatched up by some strange net like plant holding some rather tightly down to the ground. The shadowy man chulked clearly in response to something tough the man had said upon his arrival as if this was in no way a dire scenario... wait no he knew what the plant was... A Snatcher Bramble. They caught their prey by tripping them into their main body, and than slowly arose from the ground to than start covering them in their nectar. For it to devour a human it took 12 days... this man had clearly only been there for a few minutes as the main body had yet to escape the dirt covered ground.

"Alright Maestor of the pen let use get you out of this... I doubt the rest would be happy if I let a guardian of water be koed by the local flora," the shadowy man chuckled amused as he pulled out a knife.

From there reality thankfully came back as Quintin's jarring experience caused him to lightly rub his temple. His ire now fully gone thanks to that little trip as he clapped his face to get his sense straight yet now there was strangely a name in his brain that he had never heard before. He looked back at the scruffy guys with a confused raised eyebrow as he questioned aloud in uncertainty.

"Delmore?" Before Quintin could try to figure out why the hell this guy suddenly felt so familiar with it being clear he had just met him in pure rudeness. Another voice chimed in asking if he had a rather rough night.

"If only that were the gist of it," Quintin mumbled knocking his leg on the fridge lower door a sign that Avon had clearly missed notifying the students that the fridge was temporarily down, and that all refrigerated good could be found in cooler containers at the end of the line with labels.

"Apparently their was a minor power outage no one knows how, but it messed with a few select devices. thankfully the repairs are minor, but they wont be done till tomorrow," Quintin mumbled still trying to figure out what the that flashback had been.

Darkness settled on the forest floor. Leaves fell, singing a song of gratitude to the trees that bore them from their infancy. They fell to the ground, their dying song lulling the trees into their hibernation. The leaves ended their short lives to support the next spring, where the new leaflets will sing the awakening song. Somehow Chris knew all this. He heard the trees sighing their farewells to their leaves, as they sleepily prepared for the winter. It was... sad. But peaceful. It was natural. Death came to nurture life. Whether it be the leaves that feed the trees or the old deer that became the sustenance for the wolf pups. Nature was but a circle, and without death, there couldn't be life, as there couldn't be death without life. Walking to an ancient oak, Chris felt its years sing out. The harshness of the winters it survived, the sweetness of the springs, the songs of fall, and the happy dancing in the summer. A sad smile spread across the young man's face. The tree was weak and knew it wouldn't survive the winter, but it sang not songs of sorrow, but of peace, contentment, and memories of its triumphs. Of the future that it bore with the acorns that it had spread across the forest with the help of the ever-busy squirrels. Pulling away from the tree, Chris turned to a small tree that stood next to the elder tree. Kneeling down, he stroked one of the tiny branches with the tenderness one would see a parent touch a young child. It sang a song of anticipation with hints of trepidation, but the other trees sang with it, encouraging it to stretch its roots deep into the warm ground. To prepare for the storms that would come. Standing up, Chris knew it was a dream, but it felt like he had come home. He felt someone take his hands, as the wind blurred by, and time blasted by, year by year, as the old tree fell, and the young tree grew tall. After many years the corpse of the elder tree disappeared, but the young tree absorbed its elder's flesh to grow strong and mighty, becoming a giant and elder of the forest. Many animals rested in its branches, rested under its cool shade, ate of its tender acorns, and lived in its stout trunk. It too sang to the young trees, encouraging them to grow and become strong. Chris felt peace flood his body as suddenly he opened his eyes. he sat on the stump of the elder tree. Looking the forest was gone. Stumps, the graves of strong souls that grew and gave with little want in return. He saw a lone sapling, and jumping off the stump he kneeled down. The young thing was scared of the storms to come. Singing in the language of the trees, Chris started to comfort the little one. Suddenly another voice joined in. A younger one, but one that felt as if it was Chris' as well. Looking into the soul of the tree, he saw, another time, another place, a young boy, kneeling down and singing. They looked in each other's eyes.

"Come, the forest needs us again."

"I will come, I will come and sing to the saplings again. I will save the forest that loved us."

The smell of sweat, dust, and earth was in the air. Heavy was the pickax on his shoulder. Shackles on his feet, shuffling towards the caves. Tiredness wafted through his soul, acceptance of his fate sealed within his spirit. Step, step, step, step. Into the darkness of the mine. The smell of metal filled his nose, a tired smile spread across his face. This was his home. Deep within the earth, the metals were born. Where his soul was restored. Not allowed to use his magic, he used the pickax of a normal man. He didn't mind, as long as he touched the metal that he felt was his flesh and his bone, he was happy. Happiness was elusive. He felt it when he hugged his wife in bed. He felt it when he watched his children sleep in the early morning. He felt it when he saw the metal sing deep in the caves. The clanging of pickaxes was music to his ears. It soothed his tired soul. It gave him the strength to face the overseers. The evil that had spread across the lands. But today was different. Today he couldn't shake off the feeling that something terrible had happened. Walking towards the light with the rest of the men, he smelt smoke. He felt hot metal. Picking up his pace, he snapped the restraints off of him and the men around him with a shake of his hand. Horror was upon the land as building burned and people screamed. Running to his home, he stopped. Nothing but smoked wood and charred bodies were left. Falling to his knees, his soul broken, his spirit unsealed. Anger coursed through him. He cried his rage out to the world, and the metal rose to his call. Stakes, pickaxes, and raw ore swirled around him. Swords joined their number, and the overseers attacked him. Bloody carnage followed. Standing at the front of the mines, with blood-soaked clothes, and metal wings on his back, he raised his arm. He was now the enemy of the overseers. Of the darkness that had settled across the lands. A mirror appeared before him, and there stood a young man, with a startled but enraged look on his face.

"We are needed. Let us rise, and shake off our rust. Let us fight for those who never had the chance."

Deep within the lagoon stood a girl, standing on a boat looking out at the ocean. She felt the call of the wave with a peaceful smile on her face she walked to the end of the boat and drifted her hands through the water. It was warm and inviting, so she stripped and jumped in, letting the currents lead her. The dolphins leaped playfully, whistling at their human friend. They streaked through the reefs, watching the sharks in the deeps, and poked at the cranky octopus. They ate tiny fish and watched the whales sing their mournful songs. They played tag and hide and seek, as well as dart through the reef tunnels, trying to outmaneuver each other. The water seemed an extension of her body, as the girl flowed with the currents. The sun settled too soon, and as she sat naked on her boat letting the warm breeze dry her off, the sun seemed angry setting off fire in the clouds and water. Summoning a wave, the girl surfed back to her village. But there wasn't a village left to greet her. Only the bodies of those she called family and friends. Shock, horror, terror, and pain needled themselves deep into her soul, never to leave. Walking like a ghost, she wandered the empty streets soaked with the blood of the innocents. Fire crackled where fire was not meant to escape. A whimper was heard from one hut. Entering slowly, a puppy laid there, without it's legs, it's fur burned off. Sobbing, the girl lifted her knife, and gave mercy to the innocent creature. Her heart froze, and with a scream, the water attempted to cleanse the land, without success. Darkness had entered the land, and it wouldn't be evicted without much pain and hardship. Looking at her hands, the young girl felt her soul severed.

"Come back to me, let us avenge the innocent."

Mckenzie was quick to eat breakfast and her daily dose of matcha tea latte at the local Starbucks right near campus. She almost completely forgotten that she did have classes today since it was Tuesday, one being her Japanese class. It just that her dream was so distracting that it was hard to focus on anything else. After finishing her latte, she pulled out her cell phone and texted both Juniper and Arthur. It was the same message with a few changes depending on who she was sending it to.

Hey! I had the most badass dream and I can't wait to share it with you! Where you at right now? My first class is not for another hour and a half so I have time to meat up. I am letting Jupiter/Arthur know this too. Did you dream also? I think meeting you both probably triggered something.

After sending the two texts, she made sure her space of cleaned up before heading out to hopefully find the two.

Charity had taken her time eating breakfast in her dorm room. Normally she would eat breakfast elsewhere, but she was so shaken up, that she decided to eat breakfast in her room. Her dorm room did come with a mini fridge and pantry so there were times she preferred total quiet. She was glad her roommate always took her time running. Once she was done, she finished getting ready for the day. It would be a while before her first class. She normally took this time to work on her studio assignments, but the dream was still very fresh in her mind, so she had this intense desire to get the image of that 'Aveline' on paper. Wanting to work outside, she got her purse and other supplies before going outside. She went to one of her favorite 'outdoor studio' places in the middle of campus and sat down before drawing. She became so immersed in it that she didn't pay attention to her surroundings.

The mystery man seemed to be late riser considering how slowly he was to get off the appliance. Avon caught eyes with him, noting the irritated glint flash in the strangers eye. Avons eyes nearly rolled into the back of his head before he trailed his attention back. "I don't have time, don't bother. Move." But when he found the strangers eyes again, there was nothing there. His pupils seemed to expand, his posture stiff and distant. A creeping sense of unease road into Avon's chest. "Hey, what's wrong with you?"
There seemed to be a world spinning in the mans head. The more Avon stared, the more he got lost. Distant voices seemed to ring in his ears, outside of his mind.

"Bold words for..."
Avons body felt tight, squished, wet.
Murmurs followed, lyrics he couldnt quite catch-
"...get you out..."
"...
if I let a guardian..."

Avon felt the need to chuckle. It nearly popped out of his throat before he seized back and furrowed his brow. Avon made a quick spin towards the door. Just as he was about to turn tail, he felt his brain shudder to a stop.

"Delmore?"

He turned around slowly, just as another man approached with a thoroughly bemused tone. Words were passed, but he hardly heard them. Delmore, Delmore, Delmore- A moisty chill felt fresh on his skin, circling his body, calling him only what he heard; Delmore.
A series of gasps, curses, and squeaks shot out by a table nearby. A circle of their water bottles had fallen all over, leaking onto the table and covering the floor. If he hadn't been so frazzled, he may have thought himself brainless for wondering why the water seemed to be crawling towards him.

Avon shifted uncomfortably, frustration and confusing boiling to the brim.
"Who are you?" He asked coldly, ignoring the conversation that had begun between the two strangers.

A faint shimmer trailed across the cool rippling surface, the blue-tinged medium pulsing as if it were drawing breath. Dimmed fluorescent bulbs seemed to burn at half capacity overhead, weakly emitting immeasurable beams of light which spread unpredictably. Upon reaching the new medium, the angle shifted as that same light began to splinter and warp, their reach began to slow and sputter as each refraction dove deeper into the unknown. Daring to plunge further, those blue depths seemed to converge and wrap around it with the predatory drive to engulf and snuff out the growth, strangling the intruder before it could reach its destination. A choppy turbulence began to tear through the surface, the once gentle ripples now writhing excitedly as a shadow marred the once tranquil waters. Hastily the shade seemed to glide along rapidly approaching the end of the liquid domain, and in a sudden burst it punctured the surface, breaking through the thin veil serving as its boundary.

A shower of droplets fell against the ground while others plunged back into their blue-tinged home as a head of slick black hair lifted himself from the pool. Deep panting breaths were drawn in as Laine's body shivered gently, the burst of adrenaline slowly working its way out of his system as his form shifted over the pool's edge. A downpour of water drenched the floor beneath him as the layer of liquid rushed to leave him behind. Still forcing air into his lungs with each gasp, the youth smiled as he moved towards a nearby bench. "That might just be my best time yet." A somewhat exhausted smile graced his features as a nearby towel helped to wipe away the moisture from his body.

The sound of shuffling drew his attention to the locker room door. The rest of the team had supposedly gone home already, so there shouldn't have been anyone there. Approaching the door, he began to dry his face while pushing into the room. "Not gonna catch me off guard that easily... guys-" As the towel was lowered from his face he found himself staring not at the lockers he'd grown rather familiar with in his short time at the academy, but the sight of an ever-expanding darkness. A darkness broken up only by faint motes of light in the distance as his proclamation seemed to get drowned out in the expanding void before him.

Laine had never been afraid of the dark, but such a place should have put a sense of unease in him, and yet it didn't. Stranger still, he noticed as his body began to move, walking forward with learned diligence. While he couldn't stop this movement, he still managed to look into his surroundings. Mushrooms and other vegetation clung to the cavernous walls as each emitted a dull light in this otherwise lightless space. The sounds of slithering forms alongside his own footsteps resonated in the area around him with a dull echo. 'What is this place? No... I know this place. Don't I?' Such aberrant thoughts intruded into his mind as this place he'd never seen felt so familiar and inviting. A light burned ahead of him, pale and white, and as he chose to step forward he was standing in the maw of a cave. The landscape surrounding him was blurry save for the sky where resting was a bright full moon. "Beautiful..." A voice he didn't recognize slipped from his lips, a chilling whisper forcing itself through his throat like a breath of frigid air. Before he had time to question it the night sky seemed to creep across the moon, fragmenting it as the pieces began to realign.

The landscape seemed to shift as if consumed in shadow, the cave walls returned once more, but he could see through the darkness now. A shape entered into his view; a lithe and spindly limb of chitinous black began to stretch downwards to the floor. Soon more of these legs would stretch down to join as a bulbous and yet graceful form descended. It easily stood twice as tall as himself as eight fist-sized orbs of beady black focused upon him. It seemed as though the enormous arachnid before him had frozen. Being this close, Laine couldn't help but to notice its eyes reflecting a visage. In some, he saw himself no longer slick from the pool water he'd had mere moments ago. In others he saw a strange figure, a somewhat gaunt figure boasting a pale complexion and bone-white hair. The two largest eyes of the beast held one reflection of each figure, himself and the eerily familiar form, as the remaining six eyes began to display flashes of images. The smooth darkness was replaced by flashes of color as sound filled his mind. Distorted voices, bestial howls, and unidentifiable sounds cried out as this collage of rapid-fire information tried to construct itself inside his mind. Laine began to pull back as it felt like his mind being compressed by immeasurable pressure, his eyes wavering as he attempted to force them shut.

'... resisting" That same ghostly tone seemed to coo something as his eyes shut, and suddenly he found himself shunted from the space.

Upon opening his eyes, he found himself standing in a small cottage, a fire burning in the center with a large metal pot resting over it. Laine couldn't tell if there was a smell or not, but something was bubbling within. Sitting on either side of him were two chairs, each holding a figure. To his left was that same figure from before, but now they looked older. Their face had filled out some but they remained rather slim and now he could see as the crackling flame danced within the cold gaze of the individual. To his right was a strange figure. This one sat clad entirely in what appeared to be black silken robes. A covering of the same material seemed to obscure her face. Her form was willowy and yet almost statuesque in nature, despite having no clearly defined features to recall, there was a strange sense of familiarity to her as well. Breaking the silence, Laine spoke towards the veiled individual "Hey. Who's this shorty? I feel like-"

A burst of monochrome filled the room, draining its colors as everything seemed to grow fuzzy. The cave returned once more as he was left standing there. Directly in front of him was the white-haired figure. "Idiot..." Behind the expressionless face he could feel a heated burst of irritation beginning to cool, and yet the expression was unchanged.

A sudden tug caught Laine off guard as what appeared to be strands of thread wrapped about his form before he found himself enveloped in a tangled web of dark threads. The web began to squeeze, pulling taught as the binding stressed against Laine's form. The crushing pressure enveloped his body, but that's all it was, he was still breathing. A miasma filled the area as images began to swirl in the gaseous air, the cacophony of sounds flooding inward, only this time he was unable to close them out. The pressure began to build and stress against its confinement, a sudden force beginning to bubble up as it grew more and more restless. As the images grew more and more numerous, the sound of his own drumming heartbeat began to fill his ears, the rhythm increasing as the muscle threatened to burst from his chest. Panic, bewilderment, nausea, and pain decorated his form as its silent scream fell away.

"Who-?" A sudden silence was broken by that whispered voice as clear as day. In the brief reprieve he forced his eyes closed once more.

It wasn't long before he noticed just how tightly he'd been forcing his eyelids closed, a strange soreness eking in as his sense of touch returned. His body was quivering as the sound of his heartbeat had once more begun to drum loudly in his ears. Slowly his eyes peeled open as his body lifted into a sitting position, just like he'd remembered falling asleep, he was lying atop the comforter. It was cold, even the bead of sweat running from his brow down his back felt like freshly thawing ice. Gazing down at his hands he noticed that it wouldn't stop, no matter the willpower poured into quelling the shaking, it seemed to overwhelm him. 'That was just a dream, right?' Shakily he began to lift himself, believing that if nothing else a warm shower would make the cold go away. Even while using the wall as a brace, he found himself stumbling, the shaking stretching down to his legs. Normally, a morning run would be next on the docket, but the churning discomfort in his stomach was too restless to even consider such a thing.

The luxury of having a private dorm meant no one would see his unsightly display, but it also meant he was entirely alone. With a squeak of the shower handle, the hot water came to a stop and the steam slowly but surely was sucked away into the air-vent. After drying off and redressing, Laine found himself staring at the mirror or, more aptly, attempting to stare through the mirror. That person didn't show himself, but he could feel that writhing in the pit of his stomach intensify. The shaking had worn off along with most of the fear and left behind only questions. Questions that he had no way of answering. "Talk... I need to talk to someone. But do I even know someone I can talk about this with?" Muttering under his breath, he stepped out of his dorm room and locked it with a heavy metallic click.

Phone in hand, he took a deep breath, stabilizing himself before exiting the dorm building. Only one class today but he could skip it, especially with this itch at the back of his brain. Putting on a simple yet calm expression, he glanced between his phone and the path ahead of him, half-mindedly moving in a way to avoid running into anyone while searching online for some sort of lead. That itch told him to talk to someone, but anyone who came to mind just felt wrong. So going online seemed to be the next best way to get an answer... or more expectedly- "It could mean I'm dying!?" A muttered response of surprise to digital misinformation.

Dustin's eyes flicked between Avon and Quintin warily. It didn't look like either were that friendly in the mornings, but Quintin was kind enough to point him to his desired condiments. Then that name was spoken.
Delmore
Dustin didn't know anyone called that but somehow he knew he'd heard it before. Images came to his mind of rain, and a tall, grim figure met on the road, or at the orange lit door of a small house somewhere very far away.
The sound of water spilling onto linoleum jogged him out of his thoughts, and Dustin didn't realize he'd been frowning. He quickly said his thanks to the guy still perched on the fridge.
"Hey um, you can sit with us if you like." He wasn't sure why he offered, but he glanced at Ember in a silent ask if it was alright with her. "We're new here."

~~

"You ever get that feeling like you know someone, but you know you've never met them before?" Those were his first words to Ember when he chose a table to sit down at.
"This day just feels...weird."
It was all he could say. Dustin glanced back at the two men carefully, trying to place their faces but they remained just as obscure as they had at first...yet there was something about them he just couldn't shake.

"Sorry," He said with a laugh, "I probably sound nuts."

Mckenzie hadn't found Juniper or Arthur yet, which was a bummer. She hoped to find them before her first class. It wasn't a huge campus so why was she having issues finding them? Maybe she should outright call them? Hey that was a better idea than wandering around like chicken with its head cut off. Just as she was about to put her cell phone out though, she just happened to look up and see a blonde sitting on a bench drawing something. She felt a tingle go up her spine and randomly walked in her direction.

Charity was totally engrossed in her drawing of that woman from her dream last night. So much so she didn't see the shadow appear over it. When Mckenzie saw the drawing, she instantly recognized that person too. Wondering who the artist was, she spoke.

"Nice drawing."

Charity gasped, almost messing up the shading she was doing. Irritated, she looked up and made eye contact with the person in front of her. Both young women's eyes opened wide as they were both drawn into the same memory.

"It's a good thing I caught you while you're off duty, Tempest," a 22-year-old Aveline said.

"I feel the same way Aveline. Now that we're both Guardians, my free time is even more limited," 28-year-old Tempest added.

The two were walking in one of the major cities of the Lightning region that had the largest library in the region. The two had known each other for several years now.

"Since I am off duty, how about a drink? It'll be on me!" the tall robust woman said.

"Hehehe, as long as it's non-alcoholic I am game. It's too early for that and we're on limited time. Besides, I have research to do."

"You study too hard, Ave! Still I understand."

"I was going to say, you're one too talk. Unlike you, I don't work myself to the bone." Aveline laughed at the end.

"Watch it Ave or I may challenge you to a duel again." Tempest laughed as well.

The two laughed as they headed inside a tavern.

Both Charity and Mckenzie could only stare at each other in shock as the memory ended.

"Did you just, see what I see?" Mckenzie asked.

"Two women entering a . . tavern, I think. There names were Aveline and Tempest . . . ."

"Yeah, I was . . Tempest. I dreamt I was her last night."

"And I was Aveline and it was the same for me last night. I was drawing her right now. It felt all so real."

"Yeah . . . ."

The idea of past lives being a thing was crazy to Mckenzie, but at the same time, it was SO COOL! It was like with Sailor Moon when she, Endymion, and the scouts were reborn on Earth! Wanting to know who this girl was, which was weird since she felt she already knew her, Mckenzie introduces herself.

"I am Mckenzie! What's your name?"

"Charity . . ."

Charity didn't want to be rude, but she was feeling so many things right now. Disbelief was one of them, but her gut was telling her these things were true. Also a sense of dread was spreading through her body too. As happy as those two memories seemed to be, something to her that they hadn't last for long. Mckenzie didn't know what Charity was thinking, but not wanting to leave the blonde by herself, she came up with an idea.

"Hey Charity, I met two people yesterday that I also felt a connection with, and I am trying to find them. You should come with me to see if you feel something about them too since it seems we were friends in a previous life!"

"Uhh, I don't know if I want to remember more, Temp . . Mckenzie."

Charity blushed as she almost slipped up. Mckenzie noticed but didn't mind it.

"Hey no worries, it won't be for long!"

"Oh very well, let me put this up," Charity said before putting her drawing pad and shading pencils away.

The two started walking together.

"No way... there's seriously no way that could be the case, right!" Still reeling from what he'd just read online, there was no helping the fact that his already confused state had fallen for something so baseless. Glancing up, he noticed another student jog past him. For a moment, he thought that they may have heard him, but even if they had, it seemed they intended to ignore his slight outburst. Taking a breath, he managed to collect himself. Glancing back towards the dormitory, he couldn't help but feel a chill come over him, but more than that, it was like a spark of electricity had raced up his spine. What or why that is would be a problem for later, but for now, the wriggling in his stomach needed to be dealt with. Turning his attention back to the sidewalk, he quickly continued his trek onward. If nothing else, then maybe he could head to a wellness counselor? Or maybe not; they might just pass it off as a lack of sleep or high levels of stress.

The faint buzz of his phone drew his gaze as a text had come through from 'The Terrible Two', and for a moment it felt like that uneasiness in him calmed a bit. More than likely, this was another text asking where something in his room back home was or a desperate plea for help with homework, but the distraction was welcome. The faint sting of static pulled his eyes upward, and in that moment he felt the air in his lungs become heavier. Two girls, both unfamiliar to him, were walking just a few yards away. From the looks of it, they may have just gotten up from a rest, or maybe they were chatting. Regardless of that, he felt a strange sense of familiarity with them. But more than that, he felt a desire to keep his distance, as if something was trying to warn him of danger. With everything that happened last night, could the two be linked? As he thought to approach them, their bodies seemed to warp, and everything around them seemed to blur as the light seemed to concentrate on them.

The two he'd seen prior were no longer before him; instead, the figures were now clad in robes and armor. These people, whom he could only describe as fantastical, felt real to him, and that sense of bizzare familiarity grew. 'Why am I stacked up against someone as bright as them...?' That foreign voice, almost mournful, echoed in his head as he felt the sensation of his eyelids closing. A blink. In that short time, everything had returned to normal, and the uneasiness in the pit of his stomach was thrashing now. Why did he see that? How did it feel like a memory? Where had he felt this before? A flood of questions bubbled up from the sea of thoughts he was having this morning alone. But in this, only one thing felt certain. Laine needed to talk to them.

An unusual sense of nervousness was welling up inside of him, and with each step closer, it felt almost like someone was trying to pull him back from them. Sliding his phone back into his pocket, he resolved himself in spite of this. "Excuse me, ladies! I'm not trying to interrupt your morning, but... Am I the only one here experiencing a strange sense of deja vu?" He'd called out to people hundreds of times in the past, but this time it felt so naturally unnatural.
