Welcome to Avidale.
Avidale is a sleepy little town on the east coast that has a population of a little over 700. Not a very large town at all and in fact, it's one of those little places where it seems like everyone just happens to know everyone else. Someone's parents always knows yours, your parents know theirs, and it cycles on like that....noone remembers the last time anyone actually left the town, and even stranger noone remembers the last person to move in. Yet, time marches on here, same as it does for the rest of the globe. Technology, standards, cable TV, Internet, streaming services, the whole nine yards. So it wasn't like this town was separated from the world in any way, it just happened to be a little out of the way and so small that it hadn't been added to any maps as of yet. Though, the adults have been working on that for over 30 years of the town's 500 year history.

Here, all four seasons are in effect and the temperatures never really do dip too far into one extreme or the other with 92 degrees Fahrenheit being the hottest it's ever gotten, and about 32 degrees Fahrenheit being the coldest in the town's recorded history. A pretty temperate zone. There's a single highway that acts as both the entrance and the exit to the town with the faded words, "Welcome to Avidale!" Written on it in chipping, peeling red metallic paint with a cheery image of a smiling sun to greet new visitors, along with a matching sign on the back that reads, "We hope to see you again soon!" Written for leaving townies.

In the center of the town, sits Avidale High - Home of the Avidale Sentinels. The only league recognized sports team in the entire town, also the town's pride and joy.
It's here that the town raises future generations of town dwellers. People who would inherit their parent's houses one day or maybe even break the mold and strike out on their own and make their mark on the world some how, some way. Young teens who are happy with their life here, some desperate to get away, Some dealing with dark secrets - maybe even some related to the mysterious status of the very town itself....

This is a simple story about the light and hope of youth struggling to achieve their dreams, whatever they may be. A story of friendships forged and broken, souls linked and hearts touched or shattered within the same few instances - maybe even a few chances to watch love bloom in some of the most unlikely of places.

Highschool itself it a true battleground, a proving ground where fame and glory are just as fleeting as the memories and parties. Some rise, become popular - the stars of everyone's dreams. Others, live in the shadow, outcasted for various reasons - mainly just being themselves and not becoming a carbon copy of Barbie or Ken..or Chad. Your story here truly is your own and yes....there will be troubles, difficulties, mountains to climb on your way to true adulthood. But how you tackle those...well, that's a tale in itself now isn't it? Here, we'll see plenty of stories unfold - The populars, the middle ground, the outcasts - the problems each face and the things that shape each soul into the person they'll become in the distant future.



Growing up in a small town in usually pretty uninteresting. The same sights, the same views, the same people. It's like everyone knows each other in some way, shape or form. Maybe through parents, or friends of a friend, maybe rumors on the wind. Here in this little town of Allensdale, it's another year of highschool, another year of kids just learning and trying desperately to figure out how life works within just four short years. How will yours play out?

Basically, this RP is a Slice of Life High School RP about the daily struggles of your everyday students and a few shining stars that may rise above the others in various fashions.​

PERSONA

personality: Ivy is a wild child who marches to the beat of her own drum, regardless of the social consequences. She takes pride in her musical talent and shows it off whenever she can, and is likewise unashamed of her idiosyncrasies. She can be blunt and impolite at times, but also a faithful friend who can always be counted on to lighten the mood. She is imaginative; a daydreamer and a playful schemer at times. On the rare occasion when her upbeat personality falters, she has a very unusual way of expressing her negative feelings and can hold onto grudges just as fiercely as she holds onto friendships.

History: Ivy is an adoptee from the UK. She grew up with her adopted family: mother, father and two older sisters in Portland, Oregon. Her early years were fairly normal and uneventful up until she started 1st grade at the local public school. There, she quickly earned a reputation as an uncontrollable, angry, socially unskilled child. Other children would make fun of her offbeat mannerisms, and she wouldn't know how to react other than getting into physical fights on the playground. After her parents were called down to the school's office one too many times, they decided it was time to intervene.

Ivy started working with a therapist at age 7, and while she never recieved a clinical diagnosis of any particular disorder, it was noted that she had an extremely difficult time processing negative emotions. The schoolyard fights continued, as did the academic punishments thereof.

Meanwhile, at home, all those struggles seemed oddly absent. She got along well with her two older sisters, rarely argued with them or her adoptive parents. But the reputation of their "violent, mentally challenged" daughter followed them. The sisters started getting weird stares and rude comments in school; the parents stopped being invited to family gatherings and friendly get-togethers. Ivy became a source of shame for her family, and after a while, it grew too much for them.

When she was 12, Ivy was rehomed. Sent back up for adoption, with a warning about her difficult behavioral issues. The abandonment was devastating.

Within a few months, an older couple from this little town where we lay our scene took her in. While they are kind to her, they never seem to treat her as one of their own the way her first family did.

She's trained herself lately to smile through her emotional trauma, keep up an optimistic persona in the hopes of pleasing her peers and not becoming a pariah again. But oh, oh is it hard. Sometimes she lies awake at night wondering when this new family, this new town, will give up on her.

Personality : The best way to describe Ayden is that he's your stereotypical coax-outta-his-shell ambivert. He can be really shy and silent when in unfamiliar circumstances and company, but in his circle and territory? Quite possibly one of the most outgoing people you've met. Now Ayden is the type of kid that helps other people with very little regard for himself. Whether it be academically, socially, emotionally, or physically, he's your go-to guy. This makes him the jack-of-all-trades, which also means he doesn't have a particular strong suit. He truly believes that there will always be someone better than him in any aspect. Try convincing him otherwise, and he'll slink back into his cold shell. That extreme lack of self-love is most definitely his fatal flaw. But that's where friends come in, yes?

Relationships : Dylan Sanchez. Inseparable best friend of Ayden. Passed away in an unfortunate accident when on a hiking trip with Ayden.

History : Ayden was born to an amazing and loving family. Being the firstborn, he was shoved into the limelight of attention and gifts and favoritism. All until his sister was born, forcing Ayden to share the spotlight. He didn't mind, after all, he was just a kid and didn't understand the concept of favoritism. In fact, when he realized that his sister was the obvious favorite child, he kinda liked it that way. While his sister gained all the attention, he could sink into the background and avoid the spotlight.

Soon enough, Ayden grew old enough for school, prompting his parents to go abroad to work for his, and soon enough, his sister's school fees. So his parents and sister head abroad as Ayden gets to stay at home, all alone. While in school, Ayden found out who he really was like. They say firstborns are supposed to be outgoing, explosive, and completely expressive; Ayden was the complete opposite. The teen was withdrawn, reserved, and completely silent. Of course, this led to the obvious consequences, such as no friends, being completely isolated all the time, and being the target of your classic high school bullies.

Soon enough, the bullying and isolation got to his head, and it seriously took a toll on his mental capabilities. It sent him nosediving down a dark rabbit hole, one that he kept secret from both his family and his superiors at school. Thankfully, last year he met one person that brought him back to life and showed him a new side of his personality, the ambivert side. This fellow friend became his one and only friend, Dylan Sanchez.

The two immediately bonded as Dylan had drawn the kid out of his shell. He relieved Ayden of a lot of his emotional burdens, enough to make him a brand new person. They'd only been friends for a year when they decided to go on a fun nature walk to celebrate a year of being besties. Little did Ayden know that a year was all that he was going to get. After an unfortunate incident, Dylan fell to his death from a high ledge, the mortifying scream of Dylan haunting Ayden forever. Now, Ayden can't get even one night of good sleep without having a night terror.

Skills: Marco loves building model Ocean liners, and has quite the collection of them. These ships are very detailed, and can actually be run and are controlled by an RC remote. Many of these models are of ships that do or once did exist, but some are of completely fictitious ships Marco has come up with on the fly.

History: Marco was born on a cold, very snowy Valentine's day in a city in Pennsylvania. Three years later, his parents had twins, a boy and a girl. After the birth of his younger siblings, Marco's parents decided to move to Avidale in hopes of it being safer and more family friendly than their old city. As time went on, Marco's family managed to fit in quite nicely, although he can't really seem to fit in all that well himself. At some point Marco decided he wants to move out west, in hopes that people there will be just a little more accepting of those who are different.

Though she doesn't have very many friends as of late, she plans on making more for her parents sake.

Literally nothing. Years of pressure from his father lead to him standing up to himself one day, only to be rendered blind in the aftermath...exactly what happened that day, he refused to say. Since then, Arin has been extremely cautious of anyone and everyone around him, struggling to learn reading braille with great difficulty. His father still in the shadows of his home always pressuring him to uphold the family name, whatever that meant.

History: Mara seems to have had a much easier life than Arin so far. Being born both blind and a woman into the Nordes family, not a whole lot was expected of her, and that's exactly why she's willing to push herself to her absolute limits to prove herself in her father's eyes always driving to be better, faster, and smarter than her brother, but also ungodly attached to him as well. Ever since the...incident, Mara had been by Arin's side, slowly guiding him through the process of his new life in the darkness and helping him adjust to his new disability.

personality: Though he has his moments Carson is usually a pretty outgoing and happy kid. Always the first to introduce himself to new people and is constantly trying to make plans with others, he hates sitting at home with nothing to do. If he cant find something to due its not unlikely to find Carson volunteering his time to help others whether that's spending time with the residents at the long term care facility or mowing a neighbors yard whatever it is Carson is always willing to help and never hesitates to jump right in.

History: Carson has lived In Avidale his whole life never venturing further than the next town over which to be fair was still a decent distance away but still. When Carson was seven he was involved in a house fire that burned his entire house down and left him without his parents. People of the town often say it was a miracle Carson made it out alive and used it as a sign that God was protecting him. Carson hated this narrative if God was being so protective why was a quarter of his body covered in burns and why were his parents gone? Still, Carson played along and let the people of the town call him Avidales' own little miracle. The only lucky part Carson saw of all of this was that his grandparents were still around so he wouldn't be stuck living with people that weren't even related to him. From then on Carson lived with his fathers' parents out on their farm just outside of town.

Life on the farm was pretty nice for Carson he had all the benefits with none of the work not through lack of trying though his grandparents simply never let him lift a finger at home. Before the fire he would come help with the chores on the farm almost daily and it was something he really enjoyed, but after....they treated him as if he was a porclin doll that already had a crack and could shatter at any moment.

At eleven Carson came out as transgender and to his relief it went over very well people were very supportive. almost to supportive at times like when people who had known him as a her for his whole life would slip up and call him by his female name then absolutely freak out and apologize relentlessly these times mad Carson laugh. Sure there were a few people that weren't very supportive but Carson never let it get to him as far as he was concerned he was a he and anyone who had a problem with it could kiss his but.
