Cradle of Humanity, birthplace of the United Earth Federation and battleground between the invading Tha’Kar and humans, this planet was once a thriving jewel in the crown of the UEF. Now it is a blasted ruin, large swathes of the planet have been scoured by the coming of the Tha’Kar. The humans who live on Earth now live in cities that are more or less fortified like the medieval kingdoms of history.

North America
This continent has seen some significant damage from the Tha’Kar invasion. Ground zero for this continent was New York, where an immense swarm dropped from orbit after the destruction of the Bastion orbital command and control station and flooded the streets of New York City, then flowed out to consume the entire state and most of the neighboring states. The UEF, their defenses completely overwhelmed in the close quarters abandoned most of New York and its neighboring states and fell back to a second line which has since been built up with armored walls, turret emplacements, energy shields and massed garrisons of troops and armored vehicles. This line exists along the old state borders of Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and the remaining states in the north east. It is believed that there were massive losses of life in the states isolated, but the invasion was so fast there was little that could be done to evacuate or reinforce those states. To date, there have been no reports or signs of human life in any of the lost states. For all intents and purposes, the only living creatures there are Tha’Kar.

Central and South America
With the Tha’Kar invasion, many countries in South America received a massive influx of European refugees. These survivors quickly overwhelmed the aid services of Brazil, Argentina and Venezuela, requiring many of them to be sent further across the continent to Peru, Bolivia and Chile. Since the initial invasion, UEF relief work has resulted in several new cities being constructed for the surviving Europeans and, thanks to this influx of a western workforce, many of the South American countries have experienced a huge upsurge in productivity, industrial and technical advancements, as well as a general increase in the quality of life for all citizens.
Today, South America stands as a new powerhouse of technical and industrial industry, powered by displaced and righteously angry Europeans who want their homelands back.

Europe
Europe, the seat of western civilization, bore the heaviest brunt of the Tha’Kar invasion. Every settlement in every country in Europe was overwhelmed. The Tha’Kar landfall was in the old Czech Republic, with spurs quickly branching out from there. Resistance to the initial landfall was fierce, the defenders selling every inch of ground, every minute of time, with the lives of hundreds of thousands of soldiers’ lives. As a result, most European countries managed to evacuate a significant proportion of their populations, south into Africa or west to North and South America. The final fortress of defense against the Tha’Kar was Great Britain, ever the stoic defender against aggressors across the English Channel. But yet, despite that brave stand, the last British soldier defending his homeland lost his life only five weeks after the Tha’Kar landed in central Europe.
Since then, Europe has basically become a no-go area. Tha’Kar numbers in this continent are estimated to be in the billions with several Kings and Queens still vying for supremacy over their rivals among the ancient monuments of London, Paris, Madrid, Berlin, Rome and Warsaw.

Asia
While most of the continents of Europe and Northern Asia, were lost, other areas such as North America and South East Asia managed to be spared from any sort of of Remnants of the Alien scourge. Much of the western side of China and Russia was lost as the Tha’Kar overwhelmed Europe, along with many of the smaller landlocked Asian nations. It was the combination of Russian and Chinese industries, supported by Japanese technology that shored up the new western border, while much of northern India was utterly destroyed. The loss of life in India was significant, almost two thirds of the population was lost before the survivors were able to escape.

Africa
Africa, along with South America, received a large number of European refugees, but was more able to accommodate them. However, there wasn’t as much advancement in technology, since the close proximity to the Tha’Kar across the Straits of Gibraltar meant that most industry was turned to military purposes to defend the northern defensive lines. Today, the shorelines of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt are armored defense lines, ten miles deep, studded with trenches, bunkers, artillery emplacements, forward airfields and command and control structures. Every inch is hardened to resist even bombardment from the orbiting Space Navy ships and this has been necessary, since the Space Navy has been called upon repeatedly to assist in repelling Tha’Kar incursions across the narrow stretch of sea from southern Spain.

Australia
Australia and the islands and archipelagoes of Polynesia to its north suffered almost no ill effects from the coming of the Tha’Kar, other than an eventual influx of refugees from elsewhere in the world. These refugees had to be rigorously screened before they could enter, since Australia still maintained strict border regulations about what could and could not enter the country due to its rare and unique indigenous fauna and flora. This rigid adherence to policy drew international condemnation onto the Australian authorities, but regardless they stuck to their guns and continued their screening, despite the humanitarian crisis. Since the initial rocky start, Australia has become more stable, creating vast floating cities off-shore with the assistance of the Russians, Chinese and Japanese.

Antarctica
Antarctica, being the least populous and most inimical to life has had little interaction with humans or the Tha’Kar, though there are rumors that a small spur of the initial Tha’Kar invasion did make landfall there. Evidence to support this is almost non-existent and even orbital surveillance has failed to show any Tha’Kar presence. If there are any living Tha’Kar on Antarctica, then it is either well-camouflaged or underground.
