Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreetings! GojiBean here!

Since we have a fair number of people interested, I decided to make a full on lore page for the RP!

And quick disclaimer: Maybe read it in bits rather than all at once, cause there's A LOT to unpack here.

The Saiyans

The Saiyans have proclaimed themselves the “strongest race in the universe,” and have garnered a reputation as a brutal warrior race out for blood and profit while asserting their dominance over other races purely for pleasure ( though they disguise it as a “business” venture).

The Saiyans operate off their home planet, Sadala. Their culture operates with a single-minded social and economic focus of profiteering off their strength (aka “planet brokers” to the Saiyans, “planet pirates” to other races). Their entire culture centers around both this venture, and the ideal of constantly improving themselves until they reach their “Ceiling."

The Ceiling is a point at which the Saiyan’s body seems to no longer experience Zenkai boosts despite suffering significant damage or exertion. This point is typically reached by the time the Saiyan has turned 20 years old making the first 18-20 years of their lives their “most important” years when it comes to their culture and their place in society. Their final power level when they hit their Ceiling determines what Caste they belong to and what their opportunities are in society.

Saiyan Social Hierarchy

There are 5 Caste’s in Saiyan Society: the Elite Caste, the Upper-Class Caste, the Middle-Class Caste, the Low-Class Caste, and the Sub-Class Caste.

Elite Caste – 1.4% of Saiyan Society

The Elite Caste is the premier Caste of Saiyan society. And every Saiyan with a warrior’s mentality dreams of reaching this Caste at some point in their development (regardless of whether or not there's hope to reach it). The Elite Caste of the Saiyan Race demands a minimum power level of 15,000. And from highest to lowest, this is how the Elite Caste is divided:

- Super Elite: Power Level of 25,000+
- Vanguard Elite: Power Level of 20,000-24,999
- Blitzer Elite: Power Level of 18,000-19,999
- (Standard) Elite: Power Level of 16,000-17,999
- Lower-Elite: Power Level of 15,000-15,999

Obviously the higher you are in the Caste the more clout, respect, and admiration you inspire in others around (and especially below) your own level.

The Super Elite Caste is the top of the food chain and occupy roles such as the Royal Family, important political figures such as the Grand Vizier, military higher ups, etc.

The Queen is currently the most powerful Saiyan in existence with a power level of 43,300. Her husband, the King, has a power of 39,700. The Grand Vizier, 3rd in command of the Saiyan Race, has a power around 32,600 which goes to show just how far above the rest the King and Queen truly are at the current time.

** As this is the top of the food chain, I will not be allowing anyone to play a Saiyan who begins the RP in this Caste.

Upper-Class Caste – 7.9% of Saiyan Society

The classic “nobility” level class in Saiyan Society. Those in this Caste have it made financially and are free to enter and serve in any branch of the Saiyan military and Planet Brokering efforts they want. And they can choose their own service time frame so long as they are serving for at least 100 days during the Saiyan’s 326 day year.

This Caste does not have a “division” like the Elite Caste does. However, to be recognized as a member of this Caste a Saiyan’s power must be at least 5,000.

Middle-Class Caste – 48.2% of Saiyan Society

The largest by raw percentage, and encompasses basically every non-leadership role in the military, minor political roles such as envoys, and a lot of the basic Saiyan Society professions that are found in most other sentient races like humans.

Chefs and restaurateurs, technicians and engineers, scientists, educators, military drill sergeants and the bulk of the military force (aka grunts), architects and construction workers, etc.

The Middle-Class Caste of Saiyans have power levels between 1,000-4,999.

Low-Class Caste – 36.7% of Saiyan Society

Those who live outside of major industrialized cities and in far more modest locales of mud/wood huts and self-made homes and work menial labor in small, isolated communities. All males in the Low-Class Caste are mandatory drafts in the military should the situation call for it. And they are all assigned a number for the draft.

Anyone who dodges the draft will be severely punished.

Low-Class Caste Saiyans all have a power level of at least 250, and a maximum power of 999.

Sub-Class Caste – 5.8% of Saiyan Society

This is the “homeless” or otherwise “worthless” side of Saiyan society with power levels considered to be so weak they may as well not even be Saiyans. They live anywhere that they can find peace and solitude either solo or in small tight-nit groups and away from the bulk of the rest of their race. It’s all but guaranteed they’ll be verbally or physically abused if they’re encountered. Sometimes both.

The Sub-Class Caste have power levels of 249 or below.

The Saiyan Zenkai

The Zenkai is a genetic trait unique to the Saiyan Race and is a process where the Saiyan’s body reacts to various extreme circumstances and undergoes a natural period of rapid improvement and adaptation during and after recovering from any and all negative effects on the body of said experience.

For example: Let's say the Saiyan’s body is hit with a powerful Ki blast from an enemy with 2x their power level which tears a hole through their torso at the shoulder. Upon healing, their body will learn from the experience and their muscles and skin will grow slightly denser to protect against such a happening again from enemies with a power 2x that of the Saiyan’s own.

Another example: When the Saiyan pushes their body to and past the brink of total exhaustion (to the point they literally can’t move a single part of their body save maybe blinking their eyes), the Saiyan’s body will acclimate to that level of exertion which results in a large stamina increase.

It is to be noted that the Saiyan’s body only learns from the specific circumstances of each instance. Let’s use the first example with the 2x power differential and the hole through the shoulder. Upon healing and adapting to that specific circumstance, this will not enable the Saiyan’s body to withstand greater levels of power being used against them. An enemy with a simple 2.25x their power is an entirely different experience that their body is not ready for. And thus even after healing from the 2x hole through the shoulder, an enemy with 2.25x their power would be able to blast a hole through that exact same shoulder with little to no difficulty because the Saiyan's body hasn't acclimated to that kind of differential.

The greatest benefit by far for the Saiyans as a result of the Zenkai, both personally and culturally, is a drastic increase in power upon being fully healed from the experience. The exact amount varies by individual. But it is very common for a Saiyan’s power to increase by a minimum of 50% of its previous maximum level. Lower increases have been recorded, but are comparatively rare.

Zenaki Boost according to Dice Roll rules for the RP: (Roll Dice With Friends)

1: 20%
2: 25%
3: 35%
4-10: 50%
11-15: 75%
16-17: 100%
18: 150%
19: 200%
20: 300%

For example: If a Saiyan with a power level of 12,000 experiences a Zenkai, they’re all but guaranteed to experience a power boost raising their maximum to at least 18,000. A below 50% increase is exceedingly rare and, if it becomes publicly known, the Saiyan is labeled a genetic failure and they’re all but assured to be delegated to menial labor and never see battle again.

Though it is exceedingly rare, extreme Zenkai boosts doubling or even tripling the Saiyan’s max power have been observed in the past. Many of the Saiyans who’ve experienced this level of increase were of the Elite class. And as such it’s now an ingrained cultural belief that Zenkai boosts of this level are something only the most Elite of Elite can ever experience.

Other Races

Other playable races in the RP include (but are not limited to) the following:

- Earthling (aka humans)
- Frost Demons (*)
- Namekians
- Yardrat
- Whatever alien race you create

The Frost Demon is a unique situation as they are always in the "fourth" form that we see from Frieza in the original lore where he has white skin and purple accents on his head, shoulders, stomach, forearms, and shins. As Frieza was a mutant and a prodigy, he was an exception for his race instead of the standard.

For the sake of fairness, we're going to put the Frost Demons at an "average" power level of around 20,000 with a +/- 10,000 option for a max of 30,000 to start. They're meant to be a powerful race. But not like Frieza. So I think this is a fair starting point given how rare Saiyans with equivalent or greater power levels are in their society.

When it comes to power gains after a fight, Frost Demons gain a fair amount of strength. Though nothing like a Saiyan Zenkai.

In more extreme situations where a Frost Demon is truly pushed beyond their limits, they will gain between a 4%-7.5% increase from their previous maximum output once fully healed from the experience. For most battles where they're pushed to their limit but not beyond it, they will have a more modest increase between 1.5%-3%.

A similar level is going to be set for Namekians who are also a powerful race when talking about their Warrior Clan. We will set the "average" power for their race's Warrior Clan at 8,000 with a +/- 6,000 option for a maximum power of 14,000 to start the RP.

Namekians are not unique in this, but they are one of the first races which come to mind regarding how they increase in power compared to other races. A common method for Namekians to increase their power is to do Mental Training. Extreme meditation where they concentrate so fully that they trick their bodies into thinking they're living the experience which leads to gains without harm to the body like other races have to endure. The only thing about this method of training is that the gains come more slowly than races which increase their powers through battle.

Each meditation training exercise they go through, regardless of how extreme it is in their minds, will yield a rough 0.5% increase after a full week of the process.

However, Namekians are also capable of improving at a slightly greater, though still modest, rate through battle and recovery from said battle. The average gain after a major battle which pushes them to and beyond their limits is between 1.5%-3%.

Yardratians are a relatively weak species when it comes to raw strength. The "average" power level for a Yardrat is only around 1,500. But they make up for it with a host of unique techniques which include the Instant Transmission and Forced Spirit Fission which can separate Ki not naturally attained from its owner. Due to their use of Instant Transmission traveling at the speed of light, whether over short or long distance, they are an incredibly troublesome opponent to deal with in a fight.

Yardratians increase in power very slowly compared to other races and rely far more on their various and unique techniques than their physical prowess to help win the day. A Yardratian will be lucky to see a 1% increase in their maximum power after a major battle. But they increase in proficiency of their techniques at a far greater rate than any other race as an evolutionary consequence. A few solid battles will see them completely master even the most difficult concepts and techniques regardless of where said techniques originated from or what they were originally meant for.

Earthlings are the weakest race by far with an average power level of only 5 for their species. There are very few extreme exceptions to this rule, and they generally have powers in the low hundreds. As such the Earth, and Earthlings by proxy, are ignored by most other sentient races in the universe. Even the Saiyans don't consider Earth worth conquering at the present time. Though with the human's rapid advancements in technology and space travel in recent decades, that may yet change. And Earthlings are aware of this potential reality and are working hard to make sure they're ready for any encounters.

What Earthlings lack in power they make up for with tenacity and cunning, as well as technology which can help them hold their own against enemies many times stronger than themselves. With blasters and other weapons capable of generating laser-like Ki blasts with relative Power Levels ranging in the thousands, a team of well-coordinated humans with power levels of only 300 could take down a Saiyan with a power of 3,000 provided their weaponry is calibrated appropriately.

However, technology has its limits. And the stronger the Ki blasts are the faster the weapon heats up and degrades over time due to metal fatigue under those temperatures and that kind of stress from the kick-back of that level of power.

Finally, Androids.

Any race can have an Android variant as it's simply that race modified with mechanical additions such as a metal skeleton, organs, power source, etc. Depending on the skill of their creator, an Android of any race could still bear children or experience pain through a complex system of pain receptors in their programming.

And finally, if you wish to create your own alien race to play, please consult with me about the specifics of said race such as what their basic appearance is like, what their physiological limitations would be, what kind of energy techniques they specialize in, their race's "average" power level, how much power they gain, etc.

Please be prepared to negotiate with me on these statistics as I need to make sure they're balanced and fit within the lore and rules I've already set.

Thanks!

Modified Dragonball Elements

* The Dragonballs

The Dragonballs are the same as they are in the original lore with one major exception: They will only ever grant a single wish no matter where they are found (as Namekians of the Dragon Clan growing up on worlds other than Namek can still create the balls on that world). There is no increasing the number of wishes. Period.

Also, the creator of the balls determines what the limitations of the set are. So if they set the limits to only revive someone from death once, then that's it. That set of Dragon Balls won't ever bring a person back more than once. If they design the balls to not artificially increase the power of the wish maker, they won't grant power increases. Etc.

* Sensing Ki

Sensing Ki in the original lore allowed individuals to sense, with near perfect accuracy, just how strong their enemies (and allies) were compared to themselves, as well as exactly where they were in the world/galaxy/universe. I always found that kind of pinpoint accuracy as to the where to be incredibly (almost too) convenient. So I'm omitting the ability to sense where your enemy is. But you can still sense just how strong they are provided you have mastered the ability.

Learning to sense Ki is going to be a long and drawn out process rather than an instant-learn like Vegeta had after battling everyone on Earth and then learning it off-screen for no reason at all except PLOT! And when I say a "long and drawn out process," I mean it will take months IC to learn how to do it well. Mastering it will take even longer.

* Gravity Training

Gravity Training was a big thing in the original lore. And it makes sense that there would be technology that can artificially enhance or manipulate the gravity within a given space for races who think to try. However, as this is incredibly easy to abuse I'm going to be adding a few stipulations to Gravity Training. And they are as follows:

Gravity Training is going to be very incremental. You'll start at 1.1x your home world's gravity during your first few rounds of training. Once you get used to that you'll move up to 1.2x gravity which will basically feel exactly the same as the 1.1x increase did. But because it puts that much more strain on your skeleton, muscles, blood, veins, organs, etc, it takes longer to acclimate to this level than it did to the 1.1x level. And you'll need to take more frequent rests off that gravity floor before you become acclimated.

The reason for this is because of the laws of nature and physics. In nature our bodies are built a certain way. And our structure naturally has physical limitations. Elephants, for example, would not be able to walk without the kind of tree trunk-like legs and feet they have. Structurally speaking any other kind of ankle/foot joint would cause their legs and ankles to crumble and they'd break their feet and fall to the ground after taking a single step. And they'd never get up again.

So the idea that any race, even the Saiyans, could jump from normal gravity to 5x, let alone 10x the gravity they're used to is beyond ridiculous. The moment you increased the gravity that much your body would literally all crumble and fall to the ground and turn into a puddle of blood and gore.

In short, you'd be dead long before all your bits hit the ground and went splat. Sorry for the visual, but it's true.

So gravity training will be incremental in the way described. And it will be limited to 10x your race's home world gravity before it becomes impossible to withstand anything further no matter how high your Power Level rises. The energy contained within your body does not magically harden your bones, muscles, veins/arteries, etc so that they can defy the laws of physics.

Also, once you adapt to train in 10x gravity, the gains from it would be no different than training at normal gravity before you ever started. Any "major" gains would be during your body's acclimation time. But once acclimated, it doesn't factor into your gains anymore.

Removed Dragonball Elements

* Power Multipliers

Techniques like the Kaio-Ken which multiply the user's power are going to be forbidden in this RP. They're far too easily abused, and they just don't make sense for the same reason gravity training doesn't make sense beyond extreme incremental increases. Your body is only designed to hold so much power at once before it literally tears itself apart and explodes like a balloon which has been pumped full of too much air.

So no power multipliers.

Your most powerful techniques will hit with your current maximum power level's output. Period.

* Insta-kill techniques

Techniques like the Destructo Disc which were capable of slicing through any enemy despite the power level differential (until Cell) will not be allowed. You can have disc-based Ki attacks which are capable of cutting your enemies, sure. But they won't be able to cut them in twine unless your power is at least 2x that of the target like most other Ki blasts need to be 2x the level of the enemy to blast a hole through them.

* The Solar Flare

This technique was used far too easily in the source material as a get-out-of-jail free card by the heroes and villains (Cell) alike. So this technique will not exist in the RP.

* The Hyperbolic Time Chamber

This, and anything like it, will not be part of the RP. Not only is it too easy to abuse. It's a narrative nightmare and can very easily make things far more complicated than they need to be.

So it's gone.

* Known Dragonball Characters

Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Krillin, Androids 17/18, Cell, etc. None of them exist within this RP. So please do not reference them at any time.

* Anger-fueled power boosts

The old saying "anger makes you stronger" is 100% false and originated in a time before modern science uncovered the reasons why people appear to get stronger when angry: adrenaline.

Adrenaline is not anger. It's a chemical released by our bodies during the fight/flight response. And the full extent of its scientific and chemical effects on our bodies is not a true "addition" of strength so much as an unlocking of the true strength our bodies possess.

But what do you think your Power Level is? It's your true maximum Ki output. It's not an arbitrary number. It's the genuine maximum output of Ki your body possesses. So whether you're happy, indifferent, sad, or angry, your power will not be boosted at any time beyond your current maximum.

I always found anger-fueled power boosts to be a convenient plot device that gave the heroes too many easy outs from bad situations. And that's not gonna fly here. So just keep it in mind that whenever your character has a rage moment, you're not turning into Rage Vegeta after Beerus slapped Bulma.

Cheers!

PT 2. Transformations

So, this is the big one everyone's probably been curious about. And I apologize for how long it took me to add this in. I had to make 100% certain I was satisfied for both the short and long term effects these mechanics would have on the RP and the characters involved.

So, without further delay, let's get into that ever-so-popular ability of characters in the DB universe... The Ability to Transform.

The Oozaru Form

The Oozaru remains unchanged from its source material counterpart in terms of how it looks and what it can do (mouth blast).

The only major change is that it's not triggered solely by Blutz Waves from a full moon. Instead, it's triggered by a chemical in a gland at the base of a Saiyan's tail called Cyomioptin. Saiyans have conscious control over the release of this chemical which is why, even during full moons, they can look at the moon and not transform if they wish.

The Super Saiyan

This is it folks. The big one. The blue moon. The black swan. The rarest of the rare transformations (lol) which hasn't been seen in Saiyan society for thousands of years.

Only legends remain. And not even fully fleshed out legends. It's been so long that nobody even knows what the Super Saiyan looked like. So there is no mention of hair color, eye color, changes in stature, etc. Only myths and stories about an impossibly powerful Saiyan who broke through their limits in a way no other being has before and achieved a power beyond comprehension.

Sounds fancy. And with good reason.

I mean... LOOK at this man!!
2b0800740071600f05bcc12f29da30f8.jpg
It's as if the Gods sculpted the "perfect" being with hair matching the fire in his heart as he burns with primal fury and a lust for the blood of his most hated enemies!

And that's not far from the truth.

For the Saiyan Race in this RP, the Super Saiyan transformation is triggered by a series of complex chemical and psychological reactions. It's not simply "If I have enough power and get mad enough, I achieve this legendary form." That's bogus. And it goes against the rule in this RP that "anger" doesn't power you up. So it's not an anger/emotion thing even though an intense emotional upheaval is part of the equation. But only part.

To achieve the Super Saiyan form, a Saiyan must meet the following requirements:

1) Their maximum Power Level must be equal to, or exceed, 1 million

2) They must experience a tremendous emotional upheaval to trigger a rush of Adrenaline

3) Providing both of the above requirements are met, the Saiyan's body releases another chemical unique to their species known as Cyomioptin which is held in a gland at the base of the tail (and is also the chemical released during the Ozaru transformation)

4) The Saiyan's body must achieve and maintain a heart rate of at least 150 bpm for a minimum of 1 minute so that the chemicals have time to properly mix and spread throughout the body

5) Once the Adrenaline and Cyomioptin have spread through the entirety of the Saiyan's body, the Saiyan must (either consciously or unconsciously) attempt to trigger the Oozaru transformation

6) Once the Oozaru state is triggered, the Saiyan's body will actually begin an alternate transformation into the form we all know as the classic Super Saiyan

Now, on to the big question... How much of a power increase is the form?

The classic Super Saiyan is known to have an official power multiplier of 50x the Saiyan's base level. And for a state of being that's considered "legendary," it would seem this is a solid enough amount to expect.

And so it shall be.

The Super Saiyan shall remain unchanged from its source material counterpart save for the process of how it's triggered. And the reason it triggers earlier is because of the fact that it'll take a while before our Saiyans can reach a power level needed to unlock it. And unlocking it at 1 mil and getting a total of 50 mil is plenty for a large chunk of the RP afterwards.

So this probably raises the question... What about the other transformations for Saiyans like SS2, 3, 4, SSG, SSGSS, etc?

Well...

TAKES A DEEP BREATH

... There are none.

The Classic Super Saiyan is the only transformation in the RP for Saiyan characters.

The reason for this is because of the fact that the RP is story-centered instead of plot-centered like the source material. As well, we're not worried about satisfying marketing demands for toy sales.

The story of this RP will not demand anything greater then the classic Super Saiyan. And in all honesty I think it's fitting that this legendary form is all there is because it gives that much more significance to the form itself. With each new transformation after it, the original form became less and less needed. Especially as we got into DB Super when the form was basically not used at all except for one or two exhibition matches here and there or moments of teaching between Goku/Vegeta and the Uni 6 Saiyans.

So take heart, everyone. The classic Super Saiyan is all we need to worry about.

(Besides, when your base power increases fairly regularly, even the small gains from training can make a huge difference)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Frost Demon Transformations

Frost Demons are able to create unique "transformation" states to help regulate their power as it continues to grow throughout their lives.

In most cases, the transformations are created providing the Frost Demon reaches the following thresholds:

* 50,000
* 250,000
* 1,000,000
* 10,000,000+

In general, once the Frost Demon reaches the final threshold there are no further need for more forms as they will adjust to each one in turn as time goes on.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other Race Transformations

Other races can potentially have transformations if you wish.

Just please discuss the details with me and we can talk about it and make it part of this page!
