    (3 Days Earlier)

    Eat....hungryyyyy

He had all these thoughts in his head. He wasn’t quite sure what they were for. But he had so many thoughts, so many words. The zombie gnawed on a piece of cloth, thinking. He did too much thinking. The others always looked at him oddly for that. Their suspicious groans were like gossiping whispers. “There he goes...the odd one...”

    People not tasty anymore....

And that was perhaps the oddest thought in his head. Other than the name that had come to him a few days earlier. Harry. That was his name. It was odd to think of it that way. He was Harry. He was human once.

“H-Haaaa-rrrrrrr-” he tried out the word in his mouth. It felt different, strange. Like a piece of taffy was wrapped around his tongue and glued to the top of his mouth.

“H-Harrr....Harry.” and he broke out in a macabre smile. His name was Harry.

    “Must...find....people. Have to....tell them....”

So Harry the zombie set out to meet the humans.

Give me your hands and feet!!

There was silence in the city, apart from the random shuffles and moans of those lost souls. Wait, no there was something else. Some one was alive, actually, three people were! Though it looked a lot like there was going to be less. . .

Please! Take all our food, our cloths, anything, you can have the place! We'- Muuffph mufff!!!

Yesssss, there were actually people in this place. Real people, not like everyone else, not like how everyone is now. It was time to go and see, time to go and hunt. . .

Suddenly, the front door of the apartment were a man was taping up a couple, EXPLODED with all the rage and power of a massive creature. It looked like a man, but it was no man, not anymore, for it's eyes went dead a long time ago. Muffled yells turned into horrified screams, as the man who had been wrapping the two up, dropped his tape in utter surprise. He backed up in a panic, trying to figure out what was happening, as the large male zombie advanced, blood oozing from his jaws. He lunged at the assaulter, toppling him over a love seat and into the clean white tiled kitchen of the apartment.

The bound couple sat in silence, which slowly changed to a sick gross wet sound of munching and gnawing and.... stopping.
A head moved up from behind the toppled couch, the zombie staring off at nothing, chewing his fresh gore. Slowly, those pale eyes turned towards the other two live beings in the room, their weeps and sobs not stopped by their gags. The thing lifted up from its fresh kill, still chewing. Still staring, covered in a fresh splatter of red from the murder. It began to move over, towards the couple, whom struggled and whaled in their bindings, trying and failing to get free and escape the coming terror.
Till one blood soaked hand reached out and tore the tape away from one of there mouths. Then there hands. The monster stood there, chewing, staring, watching as the couple fervently undid their bonds and got the hell out.

Now, why did you do that HakK???
A voice came from nowhere, causing the zombie's jaw to stop and flop open, spilling all the unknown pieces of flesh from his maw. The figure slowly looked around, stopping and looking at the fresh kill. His head tilted, staring. Then, for what could have been the first time in forever, a thought came to mind that wasn't ATtaCK or EAt.
    "GO..............................mORe...................................peoPLe"

..... and so he left the apartment building, and started to walk........... and walk.......... and walk.

Raelyn hastily gathered her things and stuffed them into a tattered brown bag. She shouldn't have stayed as long as she did, originally she had been planning to leave two days after she arrived but had allowed herself to get distracted, and now it was a week later. To the left of Raelyn a young girl who was about 16 laid on a make-shift bed sleeping soundly. The girl and Raelyn had arrived at the shelter simultaneously and although at first Raelyn was planning to kill the girl so she could have the space all to herself she had a change of heart. The girl's innocent brown eyes reminded her of her sister's and she just couldn't find it in her heart to kill her. Raelyn never stayed in one place for too long she was used to leaving, what she wasn't used to was having something to leave behind. Raelyn felt somewhat guilty she could take the girl with her but that would only slow her down and for all she knew the girl could end up getting her killed. With a sigh, Raelyn gave the girl one last look before exiting the rundown shelter.

She had three goals for today:
Number 1 don't get killed
Number 2 find something to eat
Number 3 find somewhere to sleep.

Raelyn knew she going to have a long day ahead of her when she felt the sun's burning rays, she felt as if it were burning off her skin. She was so distracted by the sun she felt scraping her leg.
"Can this day get any worse," Raelyn yelled out in frustration as she wiped the blood off her legs. Rolling her eyes she continued her journey into the city where she could find something to eat.

Valeria awoke with narrow limbs uncouthly sprawled about, her face planted down into the soft of her pillow, causing arrhythmic labored breaths. With a groan, she'd press the flat of her palm at shoulder width, pushing upwards so that she'd be sitting up. Cropped black hair was tassled about her face grotesquely, a feat she fixed with nimble fingers which quickly rearranged the strands there, so that they were instead hanging neatly along the sides of her face, parted towards the right, though the left of anyone who viewed her.

With legs swinging over the frame of her bed, she exited her room in a stride, still adorning her garments from the night prior. Bare feet pattered along the cold surface of the floor beneath, right hand lifting to press the tips of its fingers against her gently throbbing temple. Last night's sleep hadn't been even close to ideal, and she could feel lethargy laden her eyelids as if stones were tied to the tips of her lashes to pull them downward. Even with that, she remained a woman with pride on her looks, and was sure to complete her morning routine to be certain she looked at least mildly presentable.

Gently tattered stockings were excusable, an unsightly face was not. It was perhaps additionally notable that she had already come up with a plan, for there was only one person as it currently stood who seemed to always be capable of lifting a majority of her sour moods. Valeria trudged over to the dining room's table, gingerly plucking a set of keys from its surface, opposite hand coming to swoop her smartphone from it as well. There was a jacket lazily slung over the back of a chair pushed into that table, from which she took with a hasty swipe, slinging her arms into the sleeves.

Just before leaving her apartment, she slipped her feet into a pair of baby pink slippers just alongside the door, a click of the lock being audible once she had gone through it. It was then that Valeria headed to her rather quickly decided location; the other's apartment was a quick trip, anyhow.

A hand rose, fingers delicately curling as to knock protruding knuckles against the solid of a door. "Eli," Valeria called out in a slightly projected voice, knocking all the while. "Are you up yet?" She'd add, eyes habitually falling to the floor as she awaited an answer. "It's me: Val." She somewhat expected that, if it wasn't Elizabeth who answered, then it was likely that her sons would on her behalf.

"Jaime, I swear to god if you don't stop fallin' behind I'm gonna leave you here."

It was an empty threat, of course. They'd gone out before sunrise to scavenge through the surrounding city. It had essentially been picked clean in the past year, but having the morning routine gave them purpose. The pair was relatively new to this base as well, and lingering around people for too long still wore on Daisy's nerves.

Not hearing a response from her friend, Daisy turned and scanned the alley they had been making their way down. It was empty. She was sure he'd just been behind her. A sudden panic gripped her chest and her trusty old machete found its way naturally into the palm of her hand as she shifted onto the balls of her feet, creeping back the way she'd come.

There wasn't much to the alleyway. That was why they had picked it to walk along back to base. There were a couple shut up back entrances to the buildings on either side, but nowhere to hide or turn off that she'd seen.

"Daze-"

Daisy yelped and spun around, the handle of her weapon jerking up on instinct to crack the owner of the voice across the face. It was Jaime, who now stumbled back from her, hands coming up to staunch the flow of black blood from what was certainly a broken nose.

"Oh, oh god, Jaime I'm sorry," she said returning the machete back to its home at her side, her nerves evaporating into concern at the sight of her friend.

Jaime groaned, bent over as the new injury dripped onto the pavement of the alley. There was a snapping noise, and he hissed as he cracked the bone of his nose back into place. It didn't actually hurt, nothing much did anymore, but it still didn't feel good.

"Short, cut... found," he said around a mouthful of bloody drainage, before spitting and pointing over his shoulder to where Daisy now noticed a door hanging off its hinges.

"Right," Daisy said, sighing. She added another "Sorry" for good measure before climbing through into what looked to be an old boutique.

---

They ran into a few more delays in the form of locked doors and collapsed floors on the way back to base. All told, the shortcut through the city block rather than around probably cost them time rather than getting them back quicker, but it was something to do at least, and they'd managed not to run into any dead while they were out.

Approaching the turn off the main road for the condo complex the survivors called home, Daisy glanced back over her shoulder and grimaced. Jaime had wiped off most of the remnants of the nose bleed along the way, but he was now sporting a bear of a bruise, blackening and purple blotches spreading themselves across the center of his face. He looked - well he usually looked terrible anyway - more terrible than usual.

Daisy sighed and unwound a handkerchief from around her wrist, turning back to try and scrub off what little blood remained on her friend's face. Jaime gave her a questioning look as she approached, but rolled his eyes as he realized what she was doing.

"Give," he said, trying to take the cloth from her, "I can-"

Daisy swatted his hand away and grabbed onto his shoulder to keep him from back away. "Uh-uh, I did this, I'll fix you up."

And hopefully their good luck, with no one in the complex freaking out and kicking them to the curb or worse, would hold.

“Uh oh, mom. It’s your girlfriend!” Apollo teased, calling out to her from the front door. “For the last time, we’re just friends.” Eli sighed, setting down a cup of instant ramen in front of Artemis. She straightened herself out a bit before going to the door.

“Hey, Val, what’s up?” Eli opened the front door, leaning on the door jamb. “It’s kind of early for a date, don’t you think?” she smiled, easily slipping in to their normal banter. She really hoped that Val wouldn’t try talking about the zombie right away. “We’re having breakfast, instant ramen, if you wanna sit down and stay awhile?”

Harry was sitting in the closet, waiting. The kind lady had locked him in there. She said she would let him out when it was safe. He did not know what safe meant, only that it had something to do with what he felt. He felt safe there. No worries about others stealing his food, less cold, less pain. Harry felt the sleeves of a soft sweater against his skin. This place was softer as well.

And it smelled nice. Not like rotting flesh or blood slick on the pavement. It smelled like warmth and home and family. Like cinnamon with apples and coffee. He missed coffee. Perhaps they had coffee there. But he wouldn’t want to intrude. He was starting to feel unsafe in the closet.

He knocked on the closet door. “Can...come...out.....yet?”

Valeria's lips split into a grin, a light amused but bashful laugh escaping her upon hearing Apollo's words, rendering itself audible through the width of the door. She retracted her hand from the door, alowing fingers to sprawl out from their formerly curled position they had taken to: arm falling to her side. Elizabeth's half-hearted retort garnered another laugh from Valeria whose tongue darted across smiling lips as if to wet them, though length etched upon them slowly but surely dwindling at the thoughts coursing within the back of her mind. When the door opened, however, a small simper made its way to her face again, with enough length to bear her white teeth. "Hey," She greeted casually in return with a pleased tone, laughing at the other making jest of her early arrival.

"No, never!" She exclaimed in return as if to say that a date being too early was simply impossible, looking passed Elizabeth's shoulder and to the two boys behind her, greeting them wordlessly with an amicable wave, eyebrows elevating to show her pleasure with seeing them again. With that her eyes reverted to parti-colored green of Elizabeth's own. "Yeah, sure!" Valeria responded to her offer, waiting for her cue to slip passed the door frame and the other woman by extension. Habitually a hand came to swipe a gather of ebony strands, pinning them behind her ear, keys around the fingers of respective hand audibly jingling as she did so. She emitted a weighted exhale, albeit as softly as possible as vision raked over the room.

"Can... come.... out.. yet...?" Came a foreign voice with unseen presence, like a bush warbler: heard without being seen. It was then that Valeria felt a sort of wrenching at her stomach, an incessant churning that she had recalled from the night prior. She took it upon herself to seat herself near Artemis, setting down her apartment keys in front of her. Sh unlocked her phone by pressing a thumb to the hollow on its back, quickly texting to Cody >> At Eli's talking about that zombie. You should come over to be apart of the discussion. Before, too, setting the phone down. Her arms folded somewhat defensively at her bosom, legs crossing one atop the other with the uppermost swinging to and fro with implied deep thoughtfulness.

Valeria's lips would purse momentarily as if waging whether or not it was worth speaking her mind, and with a sigh escaping from her once they had fallen agape, she at last had begun to. "Look, Eli, I just..." She started breathily as she spoke through an ongoing sigh, taking in a sharp inhale. "I'm really not sure how I feel about keeping a zombie around.." She addresses it now with tone mirroring the reluctance she had acknowledged. "I mean, we know how zombies act when they're just acting on instincts, can you imagine what they can do when they get their intelligence back?" She gestures an open hand to the direction the voice had come from, eyes fleetingly flickering towards it as well before reverting back to Elizabeth. Valeria allowed herself to sink into the seat, back flush against it as arms returned to their displeased fold.

"Who knows if he's trying to get on your good side to trick you?" She gave another glance towards the direction of the voice with uncertainty. Truthfully, she didn't exactly want to be introduced to him nor him to her, though it felt that the inevitable was approaching. Elizabeth was kind at heart, perhaps too much so, and her stubbornness in protection of that would likely prevail about the matter. Valeria knew this well, much to her own dismay.

Cody was a tad bit...... shook.
He'd been forced awake from a really nice dream by an incredibly dark aspect that really had no business in his head. Then, there was the phone conversation where Eli practically stated she went out and was hanging out with zombies. Yes, the monsters that had everyone crammed up in this condominium, essentially the things that ended the whole world- she was just, out there talking and supposedly made friends with one?

Regardless, he needed some air and some space. It probably wasn't the best time to go out on a 'supply run', but it gave him reason to wear his biker armor around and be armed. He didn't have a bazooka or something like that, just a old Beretta pistol he'd found on a deceased gang banger. He'd just finished cleaning the side arm and suiting up when his phone buzzed. With a heavy sigh, he reached for it, pausing a moment. " Have an open mind....... have a open mind.... benefit of the doubt "

Reading over the text from Valeria, his jaw clenched as his mouth went dry. In his honest opinion, there was no discussion to be had, there certainly was some actions though. Giving his neck a crack, the light haired lad tried to shake away all the stress that was building up and making this one of those days were you aren't supposed to get out of bed.

Leaving his room, Cody paused a moment wondering if he should bring his gun with him. It wasn't like her kids hadn't seen it before and he practiced maximum firearm safety at all times. Last thing they needed was for some one to die from another person living. A shiver ran through him at that thought, as he patted the handle of the Beretta, his other hand coiled around the keys for Monica.
You're just gonna stop by, asking if anyone wants anything specific for the run. " Oh, hey Val, what's shaken good look'in! Fancy meeting you here. Unless you two have finally moved in together?" Okay that's a bit too much buddy, let's scale it back.

With his inner monologue finished, Cody made his way to Eli's, stopping infront of her door. Standing there, arm raised, opening and closing his gloved hand a few times before giving three knocks, he lowered his leather clad arm, fidgeting with his fancy jacket. Somehow he still looked alright in his biker outfit, even if it'd gotten him thought some truly hellish times.

Daisy’s phone buzzed faintly as she decided Jaime’s face was as good it was going to get. She pulled it out from the back pocket of her jeans, replacing it with the now wadded-up handkerchief before unlocking the screen and frowning at its contents deeply.

"Shit," she swore, scrolling through the conversation that had popped up there, before tapping out a short message. The smart thing to do would be to just leave now. Things were getting uncertain, and people were getting nervous. Yes the smart thing to do would be to turn around and walk right back the way they’d come and not stop. Life was easier with less complications, with less… people.

"Shit," Daisy repeated. She cared about them. They hadn’t been here long, but these were good people. She couldn’t just walk away with clear conscience

Jaime raised a questioning eyebrow at her as she shoved the offending device back into a pocket, but she merely sighed and waved him on to the condominium.

"Come on, this is about to get awkward."

"Oh… kay?"

----

They reached Elizabeth’s floor a little bit after Cody, finding him there just having knocked on her door. Daisy hadn’t responded to any of Jaime’s questioning prods as to what the deal was, and he’d left his own phone behind when they’d gone out that morning so he couldn’t look for himself. He was used to going along with whatever his friend said they were doing, but he had to admit this was starting to make him nervous.

"Hey, Hintton," Daisy greeted, keeping her voice carefully nonchalant as the two approached from down the hallway, "Had the same idea as us to check out that crazy conversation, huh? What'd you reckon the odds are she's pulling our legs?"

Harry is less of a threat than most of the people we hang out with.” Elizabeth emphasized his name, giving the other woman a hard glare. “He’s made no threatening moves, shows no sign of malicious intent- Val, he can barely speak, how could he be plotting my demise? He has the psyche-” Eli tapped the side of her head for emphasis. “-of someone who has never had anyone care about them. No matter what you say, I can’t just toss him back outside.” she shook her head, turning back to the boiling pot of water.

Apollo got up again to answer the door. “Hey, Daisy, Jaime, Cody.” he spoke, his tone flat and somewhat annoyed. The door opened wider and he let them inside. “They’re already talking, feel free to join in on the argument.”

-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-

He remembered having a friend. Hakk was very big, very strong. He was odd too, but he could protect them from the other zombies. He missed Hakk. There was something on his face, water maybe. Harry put a hand to his cheek. “Crying.” he whispered, drawing his knees up to his chest. “Sad.”

He was sad, drowning in sorrow. Despite not being very “intelligent”, he could hear very well. They wanted him to go away. Eli wanted him to stay. He was causing so much trouble, he should go-

WHY CAN’T YOU DO ANYTHING RIGHT?!!! YOU’RE THE WORST SON I COULD EVER HAVE! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!!!

Harry cried quietly into his sweater, trying to block out the conversation outside.

Hey Hintton

Cody blinked away, realizing he was hyper focused on what was going on. Seemed like there was quite the 'discussion' being had on the other side of the door. Turning his head and placing his baby blues on Daisy and Jaime, he gave a half-hearted smile, not his usually high spirited grin or mischievous smirk. Waving at them, he let out yet another huff of air nodding.

" Yea, those texts really got to me. Val just mentioned she was at Eli's about to talk with her and.... seems like they are. I seriously hope she was just joking, but y'know Eli..." Blinking and turning to the door opening, Cody arched a brow at Apollo taking his attitude as teenage angst and let the others in before entering. The smell of ramen took him back to his college days as he allowed a dreamy smile to slip onto his lips. Taking a moment to look around, the leather clad man ran a hand through his hair, scratching at an eyebrow. " SO..... Eli, Val, Apollo, Artimis- Hi hello, I see everyone is talking already about the subject in question...." Nodding slowly he crossed his arms, trying real hard to dance around the very subject at hand. He side glanced at Daisy, then Jaime, taking a double take on Jaime since he looked to have a broken nose? Shaking that away for later, he looked to Eli uncrossing his arms. " How can you know all this information?"

Their lost angels.gif
Mom... dad...

Clara watched in horror as her parents bodies were torn apart by someone.

No. Not someone. Something.

Though the creature crouched in front of her appeared to be human, there was something off about them Clara couldn't quite place. It wasn't until a car light passed by that she realized the horror of what was now eating her parents. A zombie.

But no, it couldn't be, she knew they weren't real. There was no science that a rotting corpse could move, no way their limbs could still support them. And yet this was exactly what she was looking at. Something that shouldn't be real. The creature's milky eyes met hers. Slowly, it stood, bit of her parents flesh falling from its mouth. Clara refused to look down, she didn't want to see the state of her parents.

The zombie took a step towards her, then another. Clara couldn't move. No matter how much she begged her feet to move they remained firmly glued to the floor.

Now the zombie was just inches from her face. It moaned, reaching up to grab her shoulders. A single tear rolled down Clara's face as she bid goodbye to her loved ones. The zombie pulled her closer before finally digging it's teeth into her shoulders. Clara let out a blood curdling scream.

And then she woke up.

The dreams weren't always that bad. Though the good ones had gotten few and far in between. Clara wiped the sweat from her brow before rising from her bed. Of course, not a day went by that she didn't think of that day. The day she realized zombies were real and her parents were never going to be coming back. In reality, Clara hadn't stuck around once she had figured it out. She had ran to her room, packed a few things and gotten the hell out of her house. It was then she had realized how fast everything had spread. Luckily, Clara found some people who wanted to start again, and she was all for helping rebuild a normal life.

Then of course, they realized not all zombies were bad. And though she still couldn't wrap her head around the information, Clara trusted that some zombies were, in fact, harmless. Which is why she now found herself leaving the comfort of her apartment, and making her way to Eli's. She'd read the text messages earlier, but hadn't known what to say. What could you say in that moment?

Clara couldn't stop the tug of curiosity at the corner of her brain though. Her mind began wandering at the possibilities. If there were good zombies... could that mean they could return back to normal quicker? But how could a zombie be good- how did they fight their instincts? Clara shook the intrusive thoughts from her head as she approached the home. Her knuckles hovered slightly over the door. Would it be okay to knock? She wasn't particularly close with anyone yet.

"It's fine Clara..." She mumbled to herself before rapping her knuckles against the door.

Jaime tugged at Daisy's elbow as Apollo welcomed them into the home. "Joking?" he questioned quietly, but she only waved him off again and followed Cody inside, not surprised to find Val there already. They hadn't been in anyone else's place before now, but the layout was familiar. All the units must have been constructed in similar fashion.

Daisy paused momentarily in the doorway, eyes flickering around taking stock of who was present. She didn't see Val turning into a problem, her friendship with Eli would hopefully make things easier. Cody on the other hand, more of a wildcard. She'd have to keep an eye on him.

Taking a deep breath to steel her for whatever was about to happen, Daisy strode into the home. "Mornin' Quentin, care to explain?"

Jaime hung back by the doorway. There was an air of tension about the room he really didn't like the feel of, and that along with Daisy's uncharacteristic evasiveness was really getting to him. He really wished someone would tell him what the hell was going on.

He jumped as a knock sounded from the other side of the door. Just how many people were going to crowd in here? It had to be something serious, and serious things were never anything good.

This is why you’re always getting left behind, Chris

He stared at the message, hands starting to shake. “Yeah, I am always getting left behind...” he smiled, shoving his phone back into his pocket. It’s okay, I deserve it. I deserve to be left behind. To make up for all the things I’ve done, I should be left behind. Chris picked up the package of Oreos. May as well bring these over for the peace talks. Hopefully zombies like Oreos.

He stopped outside Eli’s apartment, seeing Clara already there. “Oh, hey. You here for the-” he gestured to the door. “-y’know?”

Aeris Aeris

-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-

Apollo opened the door to let two more people inside.

Eli looked around, growing more frustrated. They all wanted answers, they all wanted an explanation. “How do I know this? He’s been here for the past two days. Like I said, he’s had plenty of opportunity to do something horrible. But he says “please” and “thank you”, and he never complains about anything.” her gaze hardened towards the people crowded in her home. “It took me two days to make him feel safe here. Here, the safest place in the apocalypse, and it took two days. You know what that means?” Eli stood up from her chair, marching off to her bedroom.

She opened the door, taking forceful steps towards the closet. Eli unlocked it and opened it. She took Harry’s arm and pulled him up and out of the closet.

“It means that all of you should say hello.”

Harry heard Eli coming towards the closet, looking up. The door opened, and Eli pulled him out into the room. There were people, so many people and- Harry sniffed the air carefully, smelling something different. There was another zombie, a young man in the corner with an intimidating lady. But Harry wouldn’t say anything. If they accepted him there, he was probably hiding. “H-H-Hello.” the zombie waved shyly.

“I-I’m H-Ha-Harry.”

Valeria's folded arms would have tightened against her chest with dismay as Elizabeth continued her defense of a zombie of all things. A tooth came to pin the corner of her lower lip beneath its edge, gnawing at the skin there with deep thoughtfulness and increasingly stirring anxieties. There was a zombie in this apartment right now, and she was currently attempting to defend her adoption of it... welcoming it into her household. Maybe the chaos of this whole apocalypse situation was getting to her, maybe it was creating a festering loneliness and madness within her that lead her to doing something like this. Was that a preposterous conclusion to come to?

Valeria tore a piece of skin from her lip, chewing it absentmindedly. They'd part, taking in a sharp breath as if preparing to speak, though interrupted by the set of knocks that had rung at the wood of the door. With that, Valeria allowed her lips to seal, and they'd purse at that point, with anticipation of the shock to come from the conversation about to be had. She was never one for confrontations, especially with Eli, though this one couldn't be avoided. If she could prevent it, she couldn't allow this zombie's presence, but.... there was a stomach churning feeling that she'd not be able to convince the other into thinking with a bit more sense. Her empathetic nature was getting the best of her now.

Cody, at least, seemed to be on her side as well, making a defense for her own argument, to which she added upon. "Yeah, I mean, like..." Eyes drifted away with brief thought before coming back to meet Elizabeth's. "We're not really sure how long they can fight off their instincts, or how long that willpower can even last." Legs uncrossed, only to cross again with the opposing leg on top of the other, folded arms adjusting in position slightly though remained pressed firmly against her chest. Even having retorted in this way, the two of them, Elizabeth remained firm. "You're trusting him because he has manners?" Valeria asked with apparent shock to confirm, her eyebrows elevating a bit.

With an intention to prove that she was right, and this zombie's trustworthiness, she made a guest out of him with a physical invitation of an opening door to allow his new presence. With a bashful demeanor, he stepped out in stumbles. Valeria's gaze hesitantly moved towards him, doing so in a set of uncertain flickers before she mustered up the courage to stare at him. He was extremely fair with vivid green eyes to contrast, the blueish undertones in his complexion visible from the surface of his skin. Valeria took in a sharp inhale through her nostrils now, eyes momentarily shifting to Elizabeth with disbelief. "This cannot be happening right now..." She thought to herself, looking the zombie—Harry, apparently—up and down with mildly judgmental gaze.

As if to relieve herself from the stress this sight was bringing to her, she looked to Daisy with a silent plead for her to knock some sense into Eli. "We're just being introduced to.." A pause as she stifled a snarky remark. "That zombie Eli mentioned bringing home." Lips curled for but a moment with disapproval, eyes turning back to Harry as he gestured towards him with an open hand which would tuck itself back into the cradle of her arm shortly thereafter. "Harry, apparently."

Another knock. The more people to join this conversation, the more chaos that would stem from it, Valeria presumed. She had stiffened in preperation to get up and let the next person in, though Apollo was quick to get there before her, allowing [Valeria] to slump into the soft of the seat again.

He’s been here for the past two days...

Cody's head tilted forward slightly, his jaw clenching hard to silence an outburst. His ice blue eyes took in the room in a quick sweep, counting the people who where there, obstacles, one exit, with people in it. One black gloved hand wrapped around the handle of his pistol while he entered a sort of survival mode. Those eyes of his, usually lax and jovial- darted left and right, trying to determine where it could be. Was Eli and her kids infected? Was it messing with her mental functions? Was that even feasible?
A quick exhale was removed through his nostrils as he forced himself to remain calm.

...It means that all of you should say hello...

It felt like his heart attempted to escape through his throat, as the leather clad male tensed every wound fiber of muscle he owned. Cody dialed in on a strangers face, young, pale, sick. He could be a human with a cold or maybe doesn't leave the basement much. For a moment, he forgets what had been happening, the iron grip he held the handgun handle flickering. Of course he wanted to believe; the idea that these things could come back from the hell they were put in. The fact still remained; he'd seen them tear everything he ever cared about to shreds more times then he'd witness any give up a meal.

As it spoke, Cody managed to turn away, showing his left profile to the room. His hand remained firmly attached to the pistol at his right hip, while he tried to process everything and remain rational. It became more difficult, once the stranger managed a strained pronunciation of a name, maybe something Eli made up. Slowly, those light blue lenses moved back to the creature, forcing himself to look at it. He tried to see someone, maybe a college student, a manager at Mcdonalds, some tech nerd- anything.

... but all he could see, was a
monster.

Jaime had stopped listening to the conversation as soon as Harry had entered the room, dragged along by Eli. He’d frozen as soon as he’d laid eyes on the other. Something instinctual or intrinsic finally answering the question of what had everyone on edge. Somehow, they were the same. Had Daisy known there were more? Why hadn't she said anything? What was going to happen to them now that their existence was coming out? No one was outright attacking each other, that was a good thing. All these thoughts and more raced through his fragmented brain, one more than any other:

He wasn’t the only one. He wasn’t alone.

Jaime stepped forward, ready to say... something, he wasn’t entirely sure what, but was stopped by a sharp look from Daisy.

"Look, we all recognize this is a weird situation. There’s no guide to what’s possible or not here." she said, looking back to Valeria and the others, her right hand resting nervously on her trusty weapon. “What we do know is Elizabeth. You can’t really think she’d put us, not to mention her kids, in danger, can you? Nothing’s impossible, right?”

She knew the truth would have to come out eventually, but she wasn’t ready for everyone to know what Jaime was. Not until she knew for certain this wasn’t going to go south.

“I-it’s not,” Jaime spoke up, “Not impossible…” he trailed off, Daisy’s icy glare silencing whatever else he had been about to try and say.

Clara smiled, thanking Apollo as he opened the door for them. She paused momentarily before entering, turning back to look at Chris.

"Yep yep! Isn't this exciting?" Her eyes burned with curiosity, any nervousness she had felt now completely gone.

Once inside though, Clara dropped her smile. The room was much fuller than she had anticipated, and, there was no denying the tension in the air as everyone anxiously waited to meet the zombie. She listened to the small argument that was taking place between Eli and, well, everyone else. Clara understood the concerns, she really did. But if he had been here for two days and not done anything, it could mean he was more human than they were giving him credit for.

As if on cue, Eli pulled the zombie out of the closet, asking everyone to say hello. Only, no one did. The group looked among each other, talking to everyone but the zombie.

Clara wanted to be scared. She wanted to be terrified , after all, this was the same kind of creature that killed her parents.

But he wasn't the same. Clara could understood that almost immediately. He was just as scared as everyone else, maybe more so actually. He waved shyly, introducing himself as Harry. Clara noted that his eyes had locked onto someone else in the room, Jaime specifically.

Clara waited a couple seconds, giving someone a chance to walk up to Harry and say hello. She had seen Jaime briefly begin to walk forwards only to halt in his footsteps. She waited a couple more seconds before deciding to take matters into her own hands. After all, he'd been here for two days and done nothing. Eli wouldn't have put her family in danger if there was none to begin with.

"Hello Harry!" Clara walked forward, reaching her hand out to shake," I'm Clara, it's nice to meet you!"

Interactions: Walliver Walliver (Harry and Chris)

Hurt pain afraid. Harry could hardly breathe with the emotion wafting off the blonde one -Cody, his name was Cody. Cody has his hand on his gun. Harry knew, he knew what that meant. Gun meant pain fear dark sad Hakk blood pain hurt. Harry tugged on Eli’s arm. “Not safe.” he whispered, trying to hide behind her. Eli was warm safe human motherly protect defend safe. She wouldn’t let them hurt him, right?

Fear monster bad NO bad monster zombie BAD. The emotions from Cody filled the room, attacking his senses. “Not safe.” he said a little louder. Even with a fellow zombie in the room, Harry was afraid of the man with the gun. He was afraid.

And then she approached him. The small one, non-threatening. She held her hand out, for him to shake probably. He reached out and touched her hand. “It is nice...to m-meet y-you....Clara.” he said softly, doing his best to be brave. He looked to Eli for reassurance, and she nodded. He was still afraid, but he would be brave. Or at least try.

“Not safe.” Harry had whispered to her, tugging on her arm. And she knew he could sense something was off. He had some odd sort of power to him, able to sense minuscule changes in emotion. No doubt the anxiety in the room was starting to get to him. But when she looked to where his eyes were, she saw something else. She saw Cody, hand on his gun, and she understood. But she would not let it stand.

As Harry introduced himself, Eli walked over to Cody. “I’d appreciated if you took your hand off that gun.” she said quietly, venom in her voice. “You know I’d never risk the safety of one of my own.” her head tilted over to Harry.

Chris was at a loss for- anything really. He set the package of Oreos down before taking his place, sitting on top of the kitchen counter. He would be fine as long as he kept his feet off the floor. He’d be fine. He had a vantage point. Kick off and get on top of the cabinets if something happened. It looked like something was about to happen anyway.

Chris shot Cody a look that said ‘just do what she says, man. none of us wanna watch Eli kill you’. Which, she probably would. The zombie guy didn’t seem that bad. Seemed rather polite for a flesh eating monster.

His sight was locked on Harry now, on the zombie, the thing amidst a solid group of prey. Someone, Clara, moved up to it, offering her self to it. Cody tensed and began drawing his gun, snapping out of his survival mode with Eli's advance. The black leather clade male blinked, once or twice, as if waking up from a dream. Or a nightmare.
" I thought I knew you Eli. I really did...." His hand managed to release his weapon, slowly snapping it back into the holster. Those eyes of his moved across everyone in the room, his people, his new family. He met Chris's look with one of a killer. Both of monster and man. Because that was his history. One he hoped never to have use for again.

Regardless, this wasn't a fight, he didn't know why, but it didn't hold the same feeling.
Finally, he rested his gaze on Eli- his own lenses void of emotions now. "..... but maybe I was wrong"

The blond turned away now, to exit the apartment. He was done with the day. Done with people, pretty done with life. All he wanted was to go to his Monica and ride into the sunset. Or maybe just somewhere that made sense. Either way, he proceeded to leave, hoping no one got in his way or tried to stop him. It just wasn't worth it at this point- at least in his tired, troubled brain. One brain that wasn't going to be a meal to the new denizen of the group.

Valeria's gaze flickered back to Daisy as she spoke: she made a fair point, though it hardly lessened the former's preexisting anxieties which had spawned as an interminably stirring whirlpool at her stomach. Her attention shifted to Jaime, her already tensed brows further lowering with apparent intensified confusion at what he had muttered. She was rather puzzled on the apparent nonchalant being shared between a few of the present persons, seemingly unable to see the potential dangers the current predicament could bring. To Valeria, such consequences were more likely than anything else, and that was what made her heart fall into an arrhythmic syncopation with uncertainty.

Harry, meanwhile, was putting on a convincingly bashful act as he started towards them in clumsy steps, his body language tense and as hesitant as Valeria's own current innermost apprehensions. With brows still laden by tension, Valeria's lips pursed as she watched the display, shifting in her seat a bit as her crossed leg began to swing absentmindedly.

Upon Elizabeth having mentioned Cody's drawn gun, Valeria's eyes blew wide with shock in a flinch. "Hey, let's not jump to that quite yet?!" She said suddenly with intention of defusing Cody's clearly instigated hunch. She had straightened in her seat, jerking forward a bit, though relaxed into the soft of it once he had returned the weapon to its rightful holster; a small, weighted breath escaped from her nostrils now. She threw her hands up with implied defeat as Cody spun on his heel to exit the vicinity now. "Hey, Cody, no-" She called out, beckoning him back with a curve of the fingers. She intently stared at him as if to wordlessly request him to stay, him being the only person entirely on her side despite his aggression.

With eyes glancing back to Elizabeth, Valeria took in a breath through agape lips, though held it momentarily as they tightened into a purse again. "So," She started now with a shrug. "What are your plans for him?" And although she had indirectly addressed him, she hadn't yet turned her gaze back toward him as though not wishing to yet acknowledge his presence again. It brought both despair and dismay unto her, one that she didn't feel quite ready to face. "I mean, you've had to have though of a way to take care of him right?" Valeria now gestures to him with an open hand, though it tucks itself back under her bicep as arms return to their defensive fold. "Keep him in check?" She added, implying her prevailing suspicion about his descent back into a zombie's typical, more animalistic nature.

He wasn’t alone… but... if zombies could be good... he'd killed them. He'd killed people. They were the same as he was. He was no better than them - no, he was worse than them. He'd killed, no, he'd murdered them. They were the same as him, felt the same things he felt, and he’d gunned them down like the monsters everyone thought they were. What he thought they were. What people would think he was if they knew the truth.

The room suddenly was feeling extremely small, and Jaime was feeling very… other. Daisy had always made a point to treat him just like everyone else. But he wasn’t. He wasn’t even like this new Harry, polite and careful. He really was a monster. He needed to get out of here, but he found he couldn’t move. Everyone’s emotions were keyed up and they swirled in the air around them all like a storm of glass shards, a heavy net locking him in place.

Daisy couldn’t believe their good fortune of no one taking any real notice of Jaime’s comment to the conversation. Her paranoia had thought for sure that would have blown it, but she guessed without context it would just be an odd thing to say, of which there was plenty going around.

Daisy watched with intense focus as Clara approached and greeted this “Harry,” on alert for if either one of them might make a move to violence. The introductions, understandably tense as they were, went off fine. Harry really did seem to be what Elizabeth had said. The implications of his existence crowded themselves into her thoughts. Jaime wasn’t just some fluke. There were more of them. Something was messing with the assumed rules of this apocalypse, and they needed to figure out what it meant for them, what it meant for their survival.

She felt a bit of her stomach unclench as Cody went to storm out. He was a good asset, a good survivalist and fighter, but that was the last thing she needed in the mix right now. She felt a lot better about her odds of reasoning with people who didn’t grab for a deadly weapon whenever they got a little jumpy. With that thought, she forced her right hand to relax by her side, stretching her fingers out from where they’d curled reflexively around the handle of her blade.

“Harry,” she said, someone other than the friendly Clara would have to talk to him eventually, “Where did you come from? Are there more of you?”

Harry opened his mouth to speak. Then closed it. Then opened again. “I-It’s a-a s-suu-sub-w-w-way st-station.” he struggled with the words. “Th-There a-are more. M-More human-ish. Th-They a-are n-not as...” he paused for a moment, trying to find the world he was looking for. “...s-socia-a-able as I-I am. One...named Hakk. He...friendly. N-Not t-ta-talkative, b-but ki-i-ind.”

But he had something else to attend to. He was a person, no matter what they said. He had thoughts. Feelings. Emotions. He turned to the woman whom Eli had told him about. “M-Miss V-Va-Valeria, I-I would a-appreciate i-if you did n-not refer to m-me as y-you would an a-animal. I m-may l-l-look and a-a-act different th-than y-you but...” he stood up just a bit taller. “...I am not a monster.”

Elizabeth wanted to strangle...at least two people in that moment. Valeria for making the stupid meeting, for hurting the fragile peace. Eli had had a plan, but it was ruined. She wanted to strangle Cody for being so close-minded. He was already her least favorite out of the group, being as prickly as he was, but this....

Yet she was beaming with pride. Harry had been practicing, reading the dictionary and a thesaurus to work on speaking again. He had worked so hard, and he stood up for himself. She wanted to shout to the world, rub it in the doubters’ faces. “See him? He can speak! He knows you’re being close-minded jerks, and he can articulate his feelings! See that?!” She was elated, looking on like the proud mother she was.

Chris was lost again.

Cody sent him a look that could kill, a look of someone who had killed. It made him shiver, the feeling of creepy-crawlies wriggling up and down his spine. But Chris stood his ground. He wanted to make friends after all.

The lanky former college student slid off the counter, moving to Harry. “I, for one, couldn’t care less. What does it matter anyway? A person is a person, so that’s that.” he said as confidently as he could.

Clara held her breath, anxiously waiting for Harry to accept.

Was this a smart idea? Absolutely not.

Did she care that the groups stares behind her were burning holes through her? Not at all. Fortunately, given her family name, Clara had grown accustomed to judgmental stares. But then Harry accepted her outstretched hand! He even said hello back! Clara bounced on the balls of her feet, gently holding Harry's hand in both of hers. "I hope we're able to be friends!" She gave his hand a gentle, reassuring squeeze before releasing it.

Clara heard Cody storm out of the house, but chose to ignore it altogether. He was the one in the group who made her nervous, and, given what Harry was, it was probably for the best if he collected his thoughts before coming back. She was, however, interested to hear more about Harry and others like him.

"If you don't mind me asking, are the others also at the subway station? Or are they scattered around?" There was so much more Clara wanted to ask Harry. How did he turn in the first place? If he was doing okay. And, more importantly, if he could eat Oreos. She had seen the bag in Chris' hand when he'd first arrived and had thought it would be a very nice gift for causing him so much stress. Instead though, Clara kept her question short and simple, deciding that the answers to her other questions would come with time.

There were more of them. A lot more of them, sounded like. Shit. What did this mean for everyone? Were people developing some kind of immunity to the virus? She didn't know anything about immunology, but if they could get these human-zoms to someone who did could this mean the end of the zombie plague? Maybe they could even be totally cured.

Daisy glanced back to Jaime, suddenly aware of how quiet and still he had gone. He looked like he was on the verge of passing out. He met her eyes for a moment, and the hurt she saw there made her stomach drop. He trusted her to lead him through whatever they faced in the apocalypse, and she had led him into whatever this was. If he thought she had deliberately kept the existence of others like him secret, he might never trust her again. She would have to figure out a way to make this right. As soon as she figured out what to do about Harry and... Hack?

The shared glance seemed to Jaime to knock him loose from whatever spell had frozen his feet in place, and he turned on a heel and practically fled the room. The tensions in there were stifling, filling up the home and leaving no room for air.

He nearly ran into Cody in the hallway, so focused was he on the need to get away from the environment inside.

"Oh, s-sorry," he said, backing up from the near-collision. He hadn't noticed that he wasn't the only one to find the apartment's environment unbearable. He didn't really know anything about Cody, but he seemed like a solid enough guy. The anger wafting off of him hinted otherwise, but it wasn't really surprising given the situation. If Jaime could find enough space to think he'd probably be angry too.

Back inside the apartment, Daisy nodded along to Clara's line of questioning. Hopefully the new guy didn't feel like they were interrogating him but, well, they were. There was so much she wanted to know.
