Do i make characters on threads like these?

I'm guessing this is an odd question so let me explain. Would I make a character on a thread like this? and if so is there a 'way' I should be doing that? Or is it a 'to preference' type of thing, again a slightly stupid question but I'm new and would rather not get in trouble for doing something wrong.

You create characters in a thread. Basically, the rp owner, aka GM, would create a character thread. This thread is just a regular thread, except it’s used only for characters. The GM would type up a template for you to use, and you’d have to fill it out. The template usually includes appearance, personality, name, etc, but it’s format depends on the
Gm’s preference. In a nutshell, yes, you create characters in a thread.
