post your characters here! Keep in mind the setting is regular D&D setting with a few mild twists that probably won't affect your character in particular. though there is one big thing i'd like to say-

the technology of each race are drastically different from one another (an example without spoiling anything is that Humans have invented trains whilst Elves generally still walk everywhere)

if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Chestervauld is an old gnome with a massive cache of knowledge at his disposal, along with a wooden hand and leg that he hand-crafted himself over many hard years of work to replace the hand and leg that he lost while working. Chestervauld is a father of 4, and grandfather of many more, all of who reside in the peaceful Gnomish village of Hindlesnibbetxanderboltfcobbledrumglindersnordt…. Actually, the name of the village doesn’t matter. There’s a book somewhere in the archives with the name of the village. A whole book devoted to just the name of the village.

From the village that Chester is from, Gnomes are always tinkering and building, making wondrous creations after years and years of constant toil. Not only is this work their jobs, but it was their passion and their talent. These gnomes were especially good at tinkering; it was in their blood. Each gnome in the village had a destiny, a purpose that only they could fulfill that tended to benefit the society by solving a problem that needed to be solved. For instance, the Great Jerardarvi Xanderbolt invented a mechanical device that was so efficient at gathering crops that there was no need for farmers anymore, since it was able to provide an adequate food supply for the entire village. These gnomes tend to develop a bad habit of speaking too fast, and Chester is definitely guilty of doing so. This occurs especially when these gnomes are excited, which is in turn usually when something is being invented or ideas are being shared.

Chester’s gnomish destiny was to invent a way to protect his village from danger. To find a means of defense against marauders and roaming bandits that would prey on the relatively defenseless gnomish inventors of his town. Unfortunately, his destiny was so unorthodox he had no one to work with. While teams of gnomes worked together to build irrigation and sewage systems, Chester was busy looking for a way to defend his village. He knew that the answer to his question could not be found in his village, so he left, and has been travelling for decades, determined not to return to his village until he found the solution to his problem.

Unfortunately for Chester, his village was destroyed by an unexplained cataclysmic event, leaving only a giant crater where the village used to be. Was this the result of a failed gnomish invention that went catastrophically wrong? Did the bandits finally find a way to raid the village, leaving nothing in their wake? Or was there something more sinister at work? No matter what the true answer to the unanswered question is, Chester’s home village is gone. Chester doesn’t know this, he travels with a light heart and benevolent smile that he spreads wherever he goes along with his helpful, tinkered contraptions.

When a creature attacks a target other than you that is within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. To do so, you must be able to see both the attacker and the target. You interpose an arm, a shield, or some other part of yourself to try to throw the attack off target.
    Rustic Hospitality:
Since you come from the ranks of the common folk, you fit in among them with ease. You can find a place to hide, rest, or recuperate among other commoners, unless you have shown yourself to be a danger to them. They will shield you from the law or anyone else searching for you, though they will not risk their lives for you.
