Background: To say it has been a long time since the Gods abandoned Remnant as a failed experiment would be a profound understatement. Many generations have come and gone. Time crawls ever forward, and in the aeons since, the God of Light's curiosity about their creation returned. With golden eyes he observed the world from afar...and his disappointment grew to overtake his curiosity. The people there still remained divided. Harmony among them seemed as much a dream now as it had all that time ago. The discontent he felt was almost palpable. After so long, they still could not grow past their differences? Or perhaps...

Perhaps humanity simply wasn't capable of it.

A thought crossed his divine mind, a way to determine if it would be possible...as well as occupy his time.

He could create another world. Similar to the Remnant that already existed, but with distinct changes. It did not take a long period of time to create that world once he determined to do so. An experiment to further test and judge humanity. Many people on the newly made planet resembled those on the original planet, but that similarity was only skin-deep in multiple aspects. Further, he plucked numerous individuals from Remnant to drop them onto this new world. Perhaps he would find an answer to the most important question of all this way. Perhaps not. Only time will tell.

Those that were chosen awoke in familiar locations, but it wasn't the world they remembered. They retained all their memories and experiences, but it seemed time itself had turned back. For many, they recognized where they were without difficulty. The Battle of Beacon was beginning. But there was much that was different, and the architects may not be who they would expect.

Perhaps the results would be changed as well.

----------

In short, the God of Light has chosen to take individuals from the RWBY canon world of Remnant and dropped them onto a new world where things are different. The faces of bitter enemies now seemed to be allies, if not friends. Certain people they knew as friends and allies have seemed to become foes. Basically, a roleswap AU world. The God of Light has orchestrated this to see if humanity did indeed have it within themselves to stop carrying grudges, to move past hatred and envy and disgust and anger. To unite as one. If these select few could learn to be friends with those that looked like their enemies...then he would call this little experiment a success.

And any new and different experiences that come after, things that would be thought impossible on the canon world of Remnant...well, they would sate his curiosity.

----------

Character Limit: Max of 3 per person, you can have both 1 normally good character roleswapped to evil and 1 normally evil character roleswapped to good. You can also have 1 character pulled straight out of the canon as is. Preferably the canon ones are all characters on the good side but I wouldn't necessarily say no to canon villains dropped in. EXCEPT for Salem or Ozpin, I only want one version of them present in this new world. But you don't have to have three characters, you can have just one or two.

----------

Character sheet examples below.

Name:
Cinder Fall

gCP3PJv.png

Roleswap(whose role in canon does this character generally take, there are gonna be differences obviously):
Largely fills in for Ruby, has a little bit of Pyrrha as well. And by extension Team WTCH largely fills in for Team RWBY.

Powers/Abilities:
Cinder's semblance is known as Scorching Caress, which allows her to superheat objects and manipulate their shape. Skilled fighter. Got the power of the Fall Maiden at the age of 15 at random, on account of the previous one thinking of her father at the moment of death.

Weapon:
Midnight

Bio/Motivation(what makes them different from canon):
A survivor of a broken home and abusive family. When she had the power of the Maiden bestowed upon her at random, her attempt to harness that power to escape from her home went poorly. She didn't manage to escape, and the fire she unleashed burned wildly. Try as she might, it was uncontrollable. The flames ultimately consumed her home and some of the surroundings before firefighters managed to get it under control. Miraculously, however, there was only one death. Her mother. Cinder and her father both survived. Yet before she was forced to live under a different roof with her bastard of a father, a light blonde haired woman offered her a different option.

It was on account of her...unique situation with this new power that a 15 year old Cinder found herself residing at Beacon Academy. More than that, she began training, both as a huntress and with this new power. She was eager for both. More than eager!

Like canon Cinder, she wants to be strong. To be powerful. Unlike canon who only seeks power for power's sake however, she desires it to protect herself and others from helplessness. She despises feeling weak and she despises the feeling of being unable to help others when they need it. Part of this stems from the time she spent stuck in an abusive home, though she tries to move past that as best she can and simply do it out of a genuine desire to help people simply because she can.

Weaknesses:
Has a tendency to often resort to raw power to muscle her way out of problems instead of a more calculated or diplomatic approach. Explosive fiery temper.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Name:
Nora Valkyrie

5eagJgD.png

Roleswap(whose role in canon does this character generally take, there are gonna be differences obviously):
More in line with Roman Torchwick, though with some of that classic Nora flair. Has some Tyrian aspects.

Powers/Abilities:
Remarkable skill with a giant warhammer
Her semblance, High Voltage, lets her produce electricity and channel it straight into her muscles, giving her outrageous levels of strength. In addition she can absorb it from outside sources for the same purpose
General aura abilities

Weapon:
Magnhild

Bio/Motivation(what makes them different from canon):
A childhood spent having to eat rotten or moldy discarded food out of trash cans, having to steal necessities like blankets, having to call the gutters home to avoid others who would bully, harass, look down on and even attack her for those dirty things she had to do just to survive...it left a mark. It left her with one strong desire, an absolute need.

To never be left wanting for anything, ever again.

When the village she had been abandoned in was destroyed by a Grimm attack, she was saved by the kindness of another. The one other person there that ever bothered to reach out and help her...she never forgot that moment. She had never had a friend before that moment, and truth be told, hasn't really had one since. It was just her and him, a bond that could never be broken. They were as thick as thieves. His semblance kept them safe that night, letting them stay hidden from the packs of Grimm...and when those packs had all long moved on from the broken remains of the village.

The Nora that crawled out from under the home she'd hidden under and looked towards the massacre, the bodies that lined the streets? She couldn't help from wildly laughing, her bitterness towards their indifference and bullying leading her to view the slaughter as karma. It was exactly what they deserved. They all died, and only she and the one person around who showed even a hint of caring for her survived. It was meant to be. He didn't seem to agree with her laughing at the carnage, but...where else could he go? Who else could he turn to? There was no one left, she was his whole world now.

After that, the pair traveled long and far. Eventually they managed to find their way to Vale, where they have carved out a significant criminal empire. One that ensured she would never be forced to dig through the trash ever again, and gave her significant thrills to boot. The rush from getting away from pursuing cops, or better yet, crushing them into the ground? Amazing! Cops, other criminals, and even many of the civilians living there soon came to fear crossing her and her nearly completely silent enforcer.

Weaknesses:
Recklessness. Her great strength and brawling style of combat is ill suited to handle swift and slippery foes. Overreliance on her enforcer, who is the only person in the world she trusts absolutely, can be exploited.

151916124-288-k615479.jpg

Name:
Ruby Rose

Roleswap(whose role in canon does this character generally take, there are gonna be differences obviously):
Think she'd take Cinder's role as the main enforcer of the big bad(which in this case would be Ozpin)and leader of the 'evil' Team RWBY in this case. Also kind of pulled from Tyrian's personality a bit in that this Ruby doesn't mind killing or murder at all.

Powers/Abilities:
Ruby's Semblance, Petal Burst, allows her to dash with an inhuman speed in whatever direction she chooses, often leaving trails of rose petals in her wake. However, this is, of course, at the cost of Aura so Ruby can't rely on it for very long.

Weapon:

Ruby is self-admittedly obsessed when it comes to weapons, which shows in her complex design and craftsmanship of Crescent Rose, her High-Caliber Sniper-Scythe which she designed herself at Signal, as well as her eye for detail when observing other people's weapons and tools. This weapon can transform between a scythe and a sniper rifle and can fire Dust rounds in either form with massive force. Also liked the idea of her having a prosthetic metal arm which brings to mind the Grimm arm that Cinder has in the series proper.

Bio/Motivation(what makes them different from canon):

Growing up wasn't easy for Ruby Rose or her family. Having lost her mother from a young age, the young girl saw fit to continue her mother's legacy and become a huntsman like she had. But life wasn't a fairy tail and she wasn't a hunstman yet. Attacked by Grimm at a young age with her sister, the encounter would come to scar Ruby in more ways than one. Losing one of her arms in the process, it wasn't until her uncle swooped in and slew the beast that the children were saved. But the damage was done both mentally and physically. Years of training to wield Crescent Rose one handed until she got a proper prosthetic done hardened Ruby. Life wasn't going to be kind to her so why should she bother doing the same for anyone else? Taking her cloak and weapon, she left home without so much as a word.

Arriving in Vale with the intent on living life on HER terms and how SHE desired it, her escapades were nearly hindered by a group lead by Roman Torchwick. It was on that day that thief met lover of justice and if Ruby had her way it wouldn't have ended until blood was drawn. That was at least until a man calling himself Ozpin introduced himself to her once Roman and his men had been driven off. He could see Ruby's potential and the contempt burning within her and extended his hand to her. All she had to do was take it and this world? Everything wrong in it could be righted with her on top of it all.

With an offer like that...how could she refuse?

Weaknesses:
This version of Ruby tends to rely a lot more on speed+raw brute force and angry swipes to take down her opponents. This in turn can be played against her by taking advantage of her anger. In addition, while this Ruby has taken more of an effort to train herself/her artificial arm has a fair bit of strength in it/can even block swipes from most weapons, she's still more comfortabl using Crescent Rose rather than getting her own hands dirty.

"The real world can be cold! The real world can seem like it doesn't care! You want to be a hero? Then play the part and help others like every other Huntsman in history! As for me, I'll do what I do best: fight, protect, and survive! "

Name: Roman Torchwick

Roleswap(whose role in canon does this character generally take, there are gonna be differences obviously):
Taking the role of Nora, being the loud and energetic partner to Neo's Ren.

Powers/Abilities:
Never managed to unlock/discover his semblance but he's trained even harder to improve himself without needing to rely on it anyway.

Weapon:

Melodic Cudgel initially appears to be a normal cane; however, when used for combat, the base of the cane raises a reticle for aiming, while also uncovering the muzzle. It fires an unstable flare or discharge of what is possibly Dust, which creates a distinct whistling sound when airborne and explodes on impact.

Melodic Cudgel is shown to be capable of firing at least two types of projectiles: one with a red flare, and one with a white flare. Its explosive capabilities are enough to detonate Dust crystals. The weapon is also capable of blowing large holes in the pavement.

Melodic Cudgel is also capable of firing multiple shots in quick succession, displaying a high capacity for ammunition. Its handle can also be used to grapple opponents, disarm them, or lower their defenses. The handle is also attached to a tether and can be fired over long distances to reel in a fleeing target. The body of Melodic Cudgel is also very flexible, as seen in "No Brakes", when Roman bends it to a significant degree, but it returns to normal.

Bio/Motivation(what makes them different from canon):

Growing up, Roman was a child with mixed reactions. Some thought the boy mouthed off too much to his elders while others couldn't resist how charismatic he seemed to be. Whether it was talking someone into doing a chore he didn't want to do or talking his way out of a potential grounding, life was good.

But then he met Neo.

She was different from everyone else he'd met up to this point. She was nice enough but didn't say much. Others might have judged her for that but you know what he thought of that? They were jerks who'd never realize a person's true potential if they wrote them off as easily as that. While he obviously didn't practice what he preached, Roman was a firm believer in that for some, actions spoke louder than words ever could. His friendship with Neo and the hjinks they got up to were proof enough of that. Whenever anyone tried giving her a hard time, he'd be there. Whenever someone tried bullying her, he'd be there. The two were a perfect duo in his own words and nothing would tear them apart.

When Mount Glenn fell, the things Roman saw....Pushing aside the disgust of the inhuman acts he'd seen, he moved through the streets desperate to find out whether or not his friend and her family were alright. These creatures were horrific and anything that strayed in their path was as good as dead. Unless you were a huntsman and as he heard the cries and pleads of mercy to the beasts who simply couldn't comprehend such a request, it was painfully clear: Roman was not that. It'd taken him some time, far longer than he would have liked, to avoid being detected and most likely consumed by the beasts that festered into the community like a boil that'd finally given up and burst. Once the opportunity came to to run, he took it! Running all the way to Neo's house, his face froze in terror.

The door had been smashed to pieces, not in a desperate attempt to escape, but the efforts of something clawing it's way inside. "Neo...!" Roman called out, taking great care to avoid being too loud lest he alert one of the wandering Grimm. There was no response and the nightmare scenario he came to fear was starting to become more and more real. "No, no..." He muttered under his breath. He was Roman Torchwick, the village's poster child, this couldn't be happening! Taking the plunge and moving into the house whether there was still a Grimm in there or not, he gagged. What he'd seen, well, he'd never forget it til the day he died. The place had been absolutely demolished and Neo's parents...

The less said about that the better.

Making his way over to his friend, Roman settled down beside her and wrapped his arms around her. "I'm here now." Was all he said and it's all he'd say until the rescue team found them. The two were placed into foster care and truth be told, Roman hated it. The atmosphere had completely changed. No longer were folks hanging on his every word, to them he was just a scarred child from a community that was simply...no more. But in the end he supposed it didn't matter what they thought, he was still alive and breathing and here for Neo whenever she needed it. If somebody wanted them it'd have to be a package deal, no exceptions.

Wherever life took them, he'd continue on with her at his side and he at hers.

Weaknesses:

Although he'd make a joke out of it or laugh at it if you told him as such, he can be pretty cocky and this often leads to underestimating opponents. Leading them to get the edge on him in one way or another. Also, he's at somewhat of a disadvantage given his 'lack' of a semblance but he doesn't let that stop him!

Roleswap(whose role in canon does this character generally take, there are gonna be differences obviously):
; )

Powers/Abilities:

: )

Weapon:

Hush can act as a shield, being used against Yang Xiao Long's attack with Ember Celica, protecting both Neo and Roman Torchwick, who was also behind Hush's protective material. Hush itself is either very strong or very well-protected with Aura, as it has repeatedly been able to block Yang's explosive shells.

Hush is elaborately decorated in lace fabric of multiple colors; these being mostly pink and white (in the middle) as well as red and brown (at the edges). Hush is translucent enough to make out the shape and color of the wielder as she stands behind it.

The shaft of Hush serves at the sheath for a long cylindrical blade, which can be drawn out by Hush's curved handle. This has been seen twice, both times utilized to finish off downed opponents. The end of Hush has a hole through which this blade can come out.

Bio/Motivation(what makes them different from canon):
>: (

Weaknesses:

Someone opening her umbrella when it's windy.

Name:
Eve Taurus

Roleswap(whose role in canon does this character generally take, there are gonna be differences obviously):
Character-wise mostly parallels Blake with some personality overlap with Yang. As far as a direct chessboard switcharoo goes ihnfc but could fulfil a similar role to Raven (unpredictable morally complex but not necessarily evil loner living on the fringe with a band of hardened followers and a big weeb sword)

Powers/Abilities:
Highly skilled and efficient combatant capable of absolutely obliterating foes of a lower caliber and engaging multiple huntsmen/huntresses at once. Her semblance allows her to absorb enemy attacks and channel their energy back through her sword, with the potential for massively concentrated slices with high offensive potential if she lets the effect accumulate over time.

Weapon:
Wilt and Blush

Bio/Motivation(what makes them different from canon):
Her story could've been the story of any faunus. A painful and tormented childhood as part of a labor force in the fringe regions where people were connected less and corporations could get away with more. The story landed her in the same position so many of her people found themselves in: a scarred, broken youth with so much rage and nothing to direct it at. In that sense, the White Fang changed everything. She was freed, given a focus and direction for all the things she felt so passionately about; and, more than that, she was part of something. A community. People respected her. It was something she couldn't wrap her head around at first, but the more she felt it the more she wanted it, and the more she distinguished herself the more respect she got. She started to associate one with the other, the cause with the glory, but while her perspective was warped her end goal remained the same: To create a world where no child would ever have to be branded like an animal, have to be held down and made feel that searing pain and terror, have to hide their face in shame every day of their lives because some human, somewhere had made them a monster, for no reason, ever again.

The problem was she was no politician. She wasn't even much of a leader, there being a certain social finesse to the whole thing she lacked. She was a cutting instrument, full of righteous fury and brawn and not much else. It was only when she first donned the iconic mask of a Grimm and started truly showcasing her talents on protection missions that darker, smarter minds at play in the White Fang began to see her potential as a figurehead, a symbol of violence their oppressed people could rally around, the faunus's vengeance given form. Her goal was never the same as theirs, but in her frustration and desperation to be recognised, admired, loved, even, she let herself believe it was. Things were changing. The humans were sitting up and taking notice. Those few months, she thought, were probably as close as she ever came to being happy. Really happy. When her people saw that mask, it gave them hope, made them feel less afraid. She was their hero.

Then people started getting killed. It was a matter of self-defence at first-- It always was-- and she didn't lose too much sleep over that. It was the first time the organisation were branded terrorists on the news that her stomach really dropped, and the first notes of doubt started to chime in her head. In hindsight, she should've left a long time before she did. She had plenty of opportunities. It wasn't as if anyone there could really stop her— Except one. She'd gotten to know someone during her time with the White Fang. A kindred spirit, kind of, except so much more than that; Someone who'd seen how ugly she could be, inside and out, and who actually... loved her. When they were together, away from everybody else, was the only time she felt safe. She hated herself for how cowardly it was, how selfish, but she didn't run sooner not because she thought she could change anything, but because she was afraid. Afraid of losing it. Afraid that with her scars, with how much hate was inside her, she might never find it again. She didn't want to be alone.

So she stayed. And things got worse and worse until she couldn't bear it anymore, and when it finally became evident the White Fang were going down a path she could no longer follow, she ran. When the time came, she never said goodbye, couldn't even bring herself to confront her; she just disappeared one night, taking a significant number of loyalists with her.

Weaknesses:
Bullheaded and overconfident in her abilities, yet emotionally weak and unstable. Obsessive. Hero complex.

Name: Blake Belladonna

(alternative theme that doesn't fit Blake's aesthetic but I keep playing while I write her posts)

sWvqixG.png

Roleswap(whose role in canon does this character generally take, there are gonna be differences obviously):
Adam Taurus, the right hand of Sienna's fully radicalized Fang

Powers/Abilities:
Shadow Dash; can shift places in the blink of an eye, leaving an insubstantial copy of herself in her place that can seem to take simple actions. Can enhance her semblance with dust to weaponize the clones.

Weapon:
Gambol Shroud

Bio/Motivation(what makes them different from canon):
Blake was born not just into oppression, but fighting against it. Ghira Belladonna was her father, and the leader of the White Fang, and so from the moment she could understand words, she was inundated with the truth of the world despite her parents attempt to shield her from it; the faunus were imprisoned and downtrodden in this world, and humanity were their jailers. While almost every child thought the best of her parents, Ghira and Kali really were wonderful people, and seeing them being shut down, sneered at, and even attacked as they tried to lead the White Fang in peaceful revolution was disheartening and infuriating in equal measure. She joined protests from the young age of eight, and as the White Fang drifted closer towards true radicalization, she joined in raids and protected caravans, and any other number of missions to help her kind and family. She found a kindred spirit there, someone else who used their strength to protect and truly fight for the faunus, and she felt like she was finally making a difference instead of just holding up a sign and shouting herself hoarse... except every time she came back, her parents scolded her, and begged her not to do it again. Their words started to take root in her heart. Was what she was doing any worse than the humans? She'd never seriously hurt any of them, which was far more than she could say of their oppressors, the thought of Eve's scars one that always lit a miserable fire in her gut. Yet if her parents thought that this really was the way to peace...

Those thoughts died after yet another attack on them, for the crime of peacefully trying to pass *near* a human town, ended with her father's aura not just shattering like in another life, but going straight through his chest.

The humans who did it were defeated and fled, and her father lived, barely. Yet as she held her dad's hand as the caravan's doctor worked desperately to save his life, the hot tears in her eyes mixing with his blood on the ground, she realized something; the humans didn't deserve to flee after what they'd done. They were a danger to any faunus who'd ever come through this place again. There would be no reasoning, and next time there might not be two White Fang enforcers their to protect the innocent. So in the dead of night, as her parent's and much of the caravan slept, she slipped away, back towards the town. When the humans awoke, the leader of their raiding party was propped up against the town hall, his blood across the wall behind him in three parallel red lines. A far more grim warning of what happened when you attacked those under the White Fang's protection.

That might have been the end of it. As she slipped away from the town and her adrenaline and anger faded, what she'd done had Blake's stomach nearing a roil. The guilt threatened to eat her alive, and halfway back to the caravan she'd resolved to admit her crime to her parents, do everything she could to make it right and show them that this wasn't her. Yet when she reached the edges of the caravan, someone was there waiting for her; Seinna Khan, her father's equal in White Fang leadership, the human's watch in her hands with a knowing smile on her face. The scolding Blake expected didn't come. In fact, Sienna approved; her parents had taken the wrong tract, and Blake had proven to her that the young faunus was ready to truly do the work the faunus needed, to not just scrape by and survive, but thrive.

Her work began in earnest then. She joined Sienna's inner circle, taking her closest friends with her, and eventually becoming more than that with one of them. Yet every job she took, her parents grew more and more distant, desperate to find a way to convince her daughter that this wasn't the way, yet unable to watch as she rebuffed their every advance . And somehow, even the one closest to her started questioning her, questioning Sienna, questioning everything that the White Fang had started to stand for; This was no longer a fight for equality. How her family couldn't see that, she didn't understand. They'd be given 'equality' in two separate wars, and the downward drift always started again. No, the faunus were ever going to be free of prejudice, free to live outside of menagerie without fearing for their lives or dignity, free to just live, then this was a fight for dominance. No matter what it took. No matter who left her. No matter who Sienna told her to work with. Even after the White Fang schism occurred, and they took on a new name, she knew where she stood. At Sienna's side, right hand of the high leader of the newly christened Shadow Fang. Let Eve and her father be cowards. They abandoned her, but Sienna and her allies had not

She wold get her justice. For her, and for every Faunus, whether they wanted her to or not

Weaknesses:
quick to abandon a fight that goes south or an ally not pulling their weight. Soft hearted towards faunus, distrusting of even the most loyal humans.

Name: Neopolitan

tumblr_pjh1xrHWgo1vydei2o2_1280.png

Roleswap(whose role in canon does this character generally take, there are gonna be differences obviously):
Lie Ren, quiet member of secondary protag team

Powers/Abilities:
Overactive imagination: Neo can create illusionary constructs of hardened light, not strong enough to overly effect the real world but capable of creating disguises and fakes of herself.

Weapon:
Hush

Bio/Motivation(what makes them different from canon):

Neopolitan was always a quiet girl, yet there was a time where she still spoke. She was the daughter of a couple that had taken Vale up in its Mount Glenn initiative, and it was there that she met Roman. The pair formed an instantaneous bond, the fast talking, a bit full of himself Roman happy to have someone who didn't mind the sound of his voice and the fact that in even the least prudent situations it didn't have an off switch, and the quiet, nonconfrontational Neo glad to have a friend who stood up for her with words when she couldn't. The pair had a mischevious streak that got them in trouble more than once, but for few years life was slow, peaceful, and happy.

Then Mount Glenn fell.

What happened during it, Roman assured her for weeks after, wasn't her fault, but she knew that wasn't the case. The room her family had secluded themselves in wasn't sturdy, but the grimm seemed content to pass it by as the ransacked the settlement, unaware of the human prey so close by. Right up until the moment Neo tried to ask her dad a question, quiet as can be, and the sound of clawed feet scraping by the door suddenly came to a halt. Neo's semblance was the only reason she survived, but in her panic and inexperience she only covered herself, and she could only watch in horror as her parents blood scattered over her invisible form as they screamed for her to stay silent. When the grimm finally left, it was hours until Roman found her, and it was almost a day that they spent huddled up, hiding under her semblance, until the rescue teams from Vale finally reached their building. The pair ended up in foster care together, and Neo didn't talk as much anymore.

Eventually, she stopped talking altogether

Even then, Roman stayed by her side, her voice and her only living tie to their past life. While life wasn't easy, they got each other through it with laughs and jabs, and a shared dream; Join Beacon academy, and make sure no one suffered what they did.

...Well, at least that was her dream, and to this day she's not sure whether its Roman's too, or if he was just coming along for the ride.

Weaknesses:
Quiet (duh), cocky, and vengeful

Bio/Motivation (what makes them different from canon):
A mystery his counterpart's background may be, this world's Hazel Rainart is anything but and it isn't as melancholic. A son of a farming family hailing from an area between the city of Mistral and Kuchinashi, life was a simple one if occasionally dangerous with the wilds fraught with the Grimm. The toil he undertook day to day was hard and he cites it as the reason for his home-grown physicality and strength, making ample use of it to plow the fields and wrestle ornery livestock. His pride is further augmented by the fact he was more than able to defend the homestead, where the lesser Grimm were concerned, a duty he took seriously as he honored a promise from his early childhood. That he would defend his family but most importantly, he would always watch over his twin sister.

Gretchen was by no means lacking in comparison, a talented combatant in her own right with a sharper tongue that matched her wit. The two were unanimously considered by family and friends to be destined for something greater than the humdrum life of farming. However, Hazel had never aspired to lofty ideals, finding the simplicity of his lifestyle to suffice where his sister did not. Eager to do more than just that, she dreamt of making a difference in the world, to truly help people, and maybe see a brighter future for humanity. Their days growing up were rife with incessant sibling bickering centering on a singular topic: enrolling in one of the Academies within the Kingdoms to become a Huntsman. Hazel was adamantly against the notion, ignoring the appeals to his own rationality as he affirmed his promise anew and forbid his sibling put herself in harm's way. His was a rationalization born of fear and a desire for safety, electing to prioritize his family and own above all.

His mistake, he would owe to and appreciate fondly in his recollections, was that he'd forgotten who his sister was. In a night's time, she spirited herself away and within a fortnight, enrolled into one of the few primary combat schools that dotted the cities of Mistral at the age of 16. News reached the family and Hazel set for to retrieve his sibling, only to find it was no easy task and that Gretchen simply would not be forced to return home, as was her right to remain. Armed with only the wish that she came to no harm, Hazel reluctantly enrolled in her footsteps and it was in short order their prodigious ability was recognized. Though it bears mentioning that he was something of an outlier here, these institutions normally seeing students undertake the creation of a unique weapon by which they would be associated. His sister created her own while he created none, citing his own ability to suffice and that he hadn't intended to fully become a hunter anyway. It was seen as a waste in the eyes of the proctors there.

While his time there had done little to change his personal missive to see his sibling home, it was the beginning of the journey that saw a change in his beliefs as Gretchen once more affirmed the goal she would achieve. Done by enrolling into the academy of Beacon on the continent of Sanus, west across the seas from their homeland, much to her older twin brother's consternation. Hazel would redouble his efforts, having followed behind and joined the academy of Beacon with the basic knowledge of how their initiations worked, a goal to join the same team as her so as to at least safeguard while providing himself the opportunity to finally convince her home.

His haphazard plot went astray and he found himself placed within a team of personalities of differing backgrounds, each clashing initially. Whereas Gretchen settled into a fairly mundane, easy going composition. Something of a, pardon the lower class Mistralian speak, clusterfuck he found himself in, the resolute brother continued onward undaunted. Try as he might, though, he could never convince her, and it was then he realized amid his time spent with team WTCH that he would never be able to. The realization was a consolation in its own right as Hazel realized his own wrong, learning from the experiences and opinions of those around him, of those that suffered a great deal, of loss and misery, of disenfranchisement and worse. He'd realized that his heart was misaligned in his promise to defend only family, an epiphany that managed to pierce his stubborn skull. His sibling aspired to the ideals she never relented upon on a similar yet expanded premise as his own, to defend those who could not and to ensure nobody suffered unnecessarily.

It was not an easy thing for him to admit as much to her and it is to this day he never hears the end of it, a relentless series of assertions that he'd only blundered onto his life's calling because of her. And he is forevermore grateful for it, grateful to have met and lived with these strange souls for the better part of a year.

Raven Branwen

Canon

Powers/Abilities:

Is the independent Spring Maiden, with all the magical might that entails
Her semblance, Kindred Link, allows her to create portals to people she has a strong emotional bond with and lets her travel incredible distances instantaneously
Recognized as a exceptionally skilled warrior, quoted to be an even match for her brother. Her mere arrival was enough to make the likes of Neopolitan fear in terror
Magically imbued power to turn into a raven

Weapon:
Omen

Bio/Motivation(what makes them different from canon):

Canon adjacent version

Weaknesses:
Despite her great power and incredible skill, at heart Raven lacks the strength of character that many, including her daughter possess: the will and courage to stand up against the worst of the world's evils no matter how badly it seems the odds are stacked against them
Prideful and selfish

Name: Mercury Black

Roleswap(whose role in canon does this character generally take, there are gonna be differences obviously): Pyrrha Nikos - Childhood defined by training and combat, most technically/tactically proficient member of secondary team, coolest kid you know. In terms of attitude literally anyone else

Powers/Abilities:
Having to work around a lack of semblance has made him really good at all the other stuff.

Weapon:
Talaria

Bio/Motivation(what makes them different from canon):

Anyone asking Mercury Black where he came from was likely to get a familiar spiel. "My daddy was a tournament fighter, and my mommy was a huntress who died stopping war crimes in Menagerie! Every day we'd train morning to night, and every night I'd shut my eyes and fall asleep to the sound of him telling the story of all the good she'd done for the kingdoms. My dad wanted me to fight tournaments, like him, but my dream was to be just like her, doing what's right and driving off the darkness that threatens everything! It took him a while to give up on his dream for me, but on the night of my 17th birthday we had a few beers, and, well... long story short he comes into my room with a pair of weapons just like his. He looks me in the eye, and says 'Son, you're ready! Go make your mother proud.' Then we hugged, he cried, I didn't cry but it was all very emotional stuff... And that's when I killed him."

It was a good bit, always got plenty of laughs. Except maybe from those of his peers who had genuinely tragic reasons for coming to Beacon, but hey. Some of these guys just took themselves too seriously.

But he never confirmed which parts, if any, were true. Only his team and WTCH knew the truth that those weapons on his legs weren't weapons, they were prosthetics. And when pressed, asked what his real story was?

He never answered. Just avoided the subject or blew them off altogether.

What was clear was that unlike most the big talkers amongst his classmates, his skills matched his confidence foot for foot. An incident on their first day involving who he initially saw as a potential rival for the position of class alpha-- But soon realised to be just some tool named Cardin-- trying to pick on a couple of the poor kids caught his attention, and the subsequent smack-talk followed by a whirlwind of boots that put him and his cronies on their asses with one move each cemented his reputation for the year, while also establishing first contact with the team he'd end up leading.

The girls were both solid eights and Roman was okay for a laugh when he wasn't busy being the weak link, so he mostly had no complaints.

Weaknesses:
Cocky. Thinks the world owes him something. Kind of a hipster douche. Lacks a semblance, but doesn't see that as a weakness; his combat record makes it a tough point to argue

Name:
Tyrian Callows

Canon

He's a good guy here! Well, as good as you can get anyway.

Powers/Abilities:

Tyrian's Semblance(Decades of Decay) seemingly allows him to disrupt a person's Aura. When activated, Tyrian's eyes and his arm glow purple, and if he touches someone's Aura it fades away from the area he touched, leaving the victim vulnerable to attacks. As a scorpion faunus, he also possesses a scorpion tail and the poison that comes with it. The poison itself having enough toxicity in it to melt cobblestone.

Weapon:
The Queen's Servants are a pair of folding blades attached to Tyrian's bracers, which he uses primarily for slashing attacks. The blades and armbrace resemble the pincers and carapace of a scorpion respectively, the type of Faunus Tyrian is. Although they resemble pincers, it is unknown if they are able to perform pinching attacks.

The Queen's Servants also possess a set of gun barrels underneath the plating, which Tyrian can use to fire from a distance and at close range as a surprise attack, due to the hidden design.

In its passive form, the blades fold down to the sides, with the front blades retracting into the back blades.

Bio/Motivation(what makes them different from canon):

"Get up, you freak! You can rest when I say you can!"

Words all too familiar to any faunus who was stuck under humanity's thumb. Tyrian was no exception. Having been taken away from his parents who 'worked'(putting it loosely)for the Schnee Dust Company by a couple of bored executives who sought to have a little bit of fun with the 'carnival of freaks' at their disposal. Tyrian would fight other faunus and if he won? Then his 'manager' would share some of the profits with him and in turn Tyrian could use that money to try and afford meager trinkets for his parents that other faunus simply had to go without.

If he refused? Well, the answer to that was simple.

His parents would lose their jobs and so help him, pigs would fly before they'd land another job in Vale again.

So, Tyrian accepted.

He was something of a natural at it once he got into it. Those who would come to watch would often request for him to 'use the stinger!' but if nothing else, Tyrian had made one thing clear. Punching, kicking, even thwacking with the blunt end of his tail was fine. But he refused to scratch/stab anybody with it. If used in conjunction with his semblance, it could seriously hurt and or kill someone and he didn't want that on his hands. Not when it would have made the humans smile. But as his opponents got tougher the risks became more and more clear. he couldn't hide this life from his parents forever. Even with his aura working overtime to heal him in between his scheduled fights, he still had to wear baggy clothing to try and hide the bruises.

It was strange, y'know? At first he hated it. He felt as if he was a show pony for the humans. Bet on the 'scorpion' and see if he can hustle out another win. But the more he did it, the more he genuinely got into it! The thrill, the sweat running down your body as you and your opponent fought, the fierce look in your eyes...

He loved it.

But as is the case with most things, it was bound to come to an end eventually. His parents found out about the whole thng nd confronted him on it. They refused to accept the idea that Tyrian had come around to actively enjoying the fights. The money didn't matter either. They didn't want their son to fight for human amusement, they were NOT animals.

Tyrian begrudgingly agreed to stayed home. Or he would have if his fingers hadn't been crossed. Sneaking out in the middle of the night, Tyrian met his latest opponent with that same eagerness in his eyes. The two seemed evenly matched but it was clear to the spectators that Tyrian would take the W once again. Then in the crowd, struggling to get in due to the security, he saw them: his parents. They had tracked him down here. Taking advantage of his distraction, Tyrian's opponent capitalized on it and knocked him the FUCK out.

When he came to, a deal had been made. Tyrian's parents wouldn't talk about what had happened here and in return, they'd get to keep their jobs with no trouble. They accepted but only on one condition.

Tyrian couldn't be trusted to stay around town anymore. Whether t was because they'd been too busy to properly watch him or what, but things had gotten out of hand and they had to watch their son get the crap beaten out of him for money. But finally acknowledging their son's appetite for combat, they decided to let him enroll in Beacon. They only asked for one thing.

For him to stay out of trouble.

....Weeeeelllll....

Weaknesses:
Can 'lose' himself in the heat of battle and gets a bit too excited when fighting particularly strong opponents. Tail can be used against him if he's not careful.

Name:
Weiss Schnee

Roleswap(whose role in canon does this character generally take, there are gonna be differences obviously):
Arthur Watts-Jacques Schnee-Cinder Fall hybrid

Powers/Abilities:
Glyphs (mastered)

Weapon:
Myrtenaster

Bio/Motivation(what makes them different from canon):
Weiss was born in the lap of luxury yet grew up lonely and obedient, every minute aspect of her life dictated and controlled until she was little more than a trained doll to be paraded at public events. As the second daughter, and thus second in the line of succession, her father had little ambition for her beyond having her preened and sculpted to project the perfect outward appearance; Her own wants and needs were mere trifles. Any attempt to forge an identity of her own, treason. Her father already loathed her for neglecting to be born male, and as his company's struggles with the White Fang grew he cared less and less to exercise any sort of an effort to keep that hatred within proper constraints behind the closed doors of her family manor. She became isolated, withdrawn, and that was when the whispers in her family's circles started: There's something not quite right about that Schnee girl. So talented, but it's as if something in there's missing, like her heart's been turned to stone! She takes after the mother, most definitely. Jacques, however do you manage to keep such a dysfunctional family afloat? W͠e̕l̵ļ,͏ ͠i̵t'́s qu͡i͝te͡ a̷lr̶ig̕ḩt, Norma͜n. I͏ ̀tr̕y͝ to̷ ̶s̵te͘e̸r͘ th̴e͡m͢ awa̧y̷ fro̷m̷ ͡t̢he̶i̡r̵ ̡em͢o̶tion͘s̸ and̀ tow͞ards r͞eason͘,͜ you knów͝ ̡h̴ơw̨ wo̕men͘ ͏can ͞be. The manor was large, with plenty of hiding spots, and the more of these conversations she overheard the more they started to affect her. The less she started to enjoy hiding.

The one thing her father couldn't kill her enjoyment of was reading. Her family library was vast, its texts on huntsmen and huntresses many—the Schnee name had a noble warrior heritage, after all, and a hereditary semblance of incredible power. With her combat training beginning to pay off, she thought she might take on a new path, one difficult to deny her given the prestige that accompanied it: to become a huntress, pledge herself to the constant battle between humanity and darkness.

Her request was refused.

Her elder sister had abandoned the family and fortune, leaving Weiss in line to inherit everything. She kept honing her combat effectiveness, but she had been denied the opportunity to spread her wings and break away. Her father stopped grooming her as a parlor horse and started instilling the skills she'd need to one day run the company in his absence. She had hoped, briefly, that it might change things between them, but if anything his behavior towards her only seemed to grow more entitled and cruel.

And the girl in the high tower grew colder.

It wasn't long after that she realised things between her and her father would never change. That they weren't a result of the hatred he bore her for not being a male heir, or her perceived value to their legacy. Her father mistreated her because he was a small, petty man, of weak character and completely unable to control his irrational emotional outbursts. Unfit to be a father. Unfit to sit at the head of their company. Unfit to represent their family.

The mysterious circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Jacques Schnee were subject to intense media scrutiny for years, but no foul play was ever proven, and even the most die-hard of conspiracy theorists pointed the finger towards assassins sent by White Fang extremists or the Atlesian government. Certainly no suspicion fell on Weiss, then 17, the bereaved, tearful daughter who had only so-recently begun to connect with her father for the first time, to truly understand the man's genius. She said all the right things, gave all the right touching musical tributes and cried at all the right public events, and suddenly no one was talking about Jacques Schnee anymore. His legacy amounted to a footnote, most known for its mysterious conclusion.

They were talking about Weiss, and the whispers had changed. The Schnee girl's really come into her own. Well, she's a woman now, what do you expect. Her father wasn't much older than she was when he took over the company, was he?

As it would turn out, Weiss assumed her duties as CEO the very next year, her education and knowledge deemed sufficient to take the reigns. The mere six years since have seen her helm the SDC into one of its most profitable eras in recent memory, with Weiss's continued attention to public relations leading to her recent appointment to the Council of Atlas after a landslide election.

Weaknesses:
Total disregard for emotions, be it her own or others' towards her (has been unable to mend relations between her company and the faunus, despite many efforts). Somewhat unimpressive aura. Ultimately, and most tragically, very much her father's daughter
