The Spectral Council has bestowed upon Dina the ability to interact with Nature's kingdom of plants. By focusing her thoughts, she can reach out and identify, speak with, and even command the plant life in her surroundings, as well as assist it with her own energy.
Through an unfortunate incident, Dina was infected by the Taint; a mysterious, dark entity that seems to be the corrupted counterpart of Nature. On one hand, this has granted Dina an array of dark powers to call upon. On the other, the Taint now seeks to turn her into one of its mindless dark servants, and will not rest until it has done so.
Dina's original talent, however, is healing. Having learned from one of the greatest healers in the Royal Houses of Healing since childhood, she has become proficient in the use of healing herbs and salves, able to make better use of them than most people.

Dina is an observer, preferring to keep a careful eye on things around her and think first, rather than to act rashly. As she was growing up, she was mostly passive and submissive, listening to others and depending on being told what to do. Somewhere through her teen years, however, that started to change. She became more rebellious, more self-aware, more outspoken - joining the Chosen only encouraged her further. She is possessed of a good heart and driven by a strong need to help others and fight against injustice.
Dina was born in the royal city of Alicante, never knowing her father, while her mother was a healer in the royal Houses of Healing. She was still only a child when she started learning about herbs and poultices, driven by the same desire to help others like her mother. This lasted until Dina was 12, when her mother decided that they were leaving the city for reasons she did not explain to her daughter.
The two lived alone in a hut outside one of the outlying villages, just within sight of the city they had left behind. Her mother found work as the village healer, with Dina working as her apprentice. Life was still good for Dina back then, if a bit lonely. But it was not to last. A mere five years later came the Great War, and all the death and devastation that accompanied it. Though the girl would never see the horror of the front lines, she saw what came later. The bloodied, the wounded, the scarred - endless masses of soldiers and civilians fleeing in the wake of the demons. Dina and her mother laboured tirelessly, treating dozens and hundreds of people that came through their village on the way to Alicante.
Eventually, the war was over. The invaders had won. And though the bulk of the demonic army seemed to have disappeared without a trace over the next few months, the fighting continued, albeit on a much smaller scale, between the loyalists of the old kingdom and the traitors who had already sided with the new self-proclaimed queen. So for Dina and her mother, nothing had changed. They continued their work, as dedicated as ever to helping those in need.
One day, while foraging for herbs in the forest, Dina came upon the gruesome scene of a recent skirmish. And among the dead she found a single survivor; an elven maiden, on the brink of death, whom she immediately brought home to her mother. It took all that Dina and her mother could muster, but the elf survived. In the weeks of her recovery the two of them became fast friends, and she revealed herself as Violet Robbins, the second-in-command of the Resistance. This prompted Dina's mother to reveal the truth of her daughter's birth - that she was a bastard child of the late King Anglimar Tenárus, and thus an heir to the throne of Asgard. Upon learning this, Violet left to inform the Resistance, promising to return for Dina soon.
Time went by. Dina's 19th birthday was just a month away when a small group of Ilhirel's soldiers attacked the village, accusing the people of assisting rebel forces. When they came to her house, Dina's mother selflessly put herself in between the soldiers and the wounded rebels, even at the cost of her own life. Dina was out in the forest gathering herbs at the time, and when she returned, it was to a slaughterhouse. The wounded rebels that her mother had been treating were slain, her mother herself lying dead in a protective position. Dina screamed, and wailed, and wept. And she was never the same after that.
She spent the next year stubbornly assisting the Resistance, continuing her work as a healer as she travelled between settlements throughout Hyerald. Carrying on the only way she knew how. And inside, like a bird in a cage, yearning for justice. She finally got her chance when she was chosen by the Spectral Council to play a pivotal role in the war that was to come.
