Back from the Dead
Nox Hill has always been one of the smaller cities in California, a kind of micro-culture of various different cultures and beliefs. The one thing that has connected all these different people living in this city is a belief in the supernatural. Since as far back as it’s founding in the late nineteenth century, Nox Hill has always been known for unexplainable things happening, strange creatures moving among the shadows at night. It is know just known that weird things are par for the course in Nox Hill.
Flash forward to modern day and a new generation of youths are living in Nox Hill, ones who the supernatural seems drawn to. Initially it was just seeing something out of the corner of your eye, to then hearing whispers, until the youths come face to face with the creatures. However these creatures reveal themselves to be sapient and sentient, lost travelers from another world. They are Digimon.
Now certain youths in Nox Hill find a bond between them and a Digimon, the two beings connected. These human/Digimon teams now work together to fight off the more wild Digimon appearing in Nox Hill, unaware of their role in a greater war. For Nox Hill is a gateway, one protected by the Order Monstrum Dominus, a secret society going back centuries. Will these new Digimon teams be anything more than pawns in some grander scheme?
So I love Digimon roleplays, but haven’t run one in like ten years. I figured that if I was going to run one, I’d have to do something different with it, so I thought why not urban fantasy. In this world Digimon have been around for centuries, but have begun to cross over more with the rise of digital technology on Earth. Secret societies exist related to Digimon, groups that the players will encounter pretty quickly.
Speaking of the players, I would like them to play as teenagers living in Nox Hill who encounter a Digimon, forming a bond with it, soon afterwards getting a Digivice. Each character will have one Digimon partner, who I’m pretty open on, for things like X-Antibody, though I do ask they start at rookie level.
I’m open for player input on the setting, especially with fleshing out Nox Hill, and the secret history of humans and Digimon once we reach that point in the story. I’m also open to a wide variety of backgrounds for the characters, as long as it could reasonably exist in our own world.
So if you have any interest in this idea, please let me know here, and maybe mention a character concept and Digimon partner you would like. As for me I was thinking the son of the park ranger for the state park next to Nox Hill, with his partner being Gazimon (X-Antibody).
