Plot
It's been thirty years.
Thirty years since the former Digidestined won. Life has gone on since then, with Digimon slowly but surely becoming a normal part of life. Soon there were people being born and growing up completely unaware of a life before Digimon. Before the sudden increase and explosion of technology that came with Digimon living side by side with humans. Since the old Digidestineds retired and went to live their lives as normally as they could. Peace has settled over the world and while Digimon has brought both new progress and new conflict, the world is as it always has been. Growing and developing and at conflict with itself. But things are better than they could be. You are one of the people who have grown up without knowing a life before the Digimon. Only a high schooler you live a fairly normal life in the small seaside town of Halram, California. You have a Digimon partner who is there for you all the time. And you are a member of the Computer Club at your school, usually using the club to relax or mess around or play computer games. Some of you take it more seriously than others and build your own games to play or for competition, but life is fairly average.
Things are about to change. There is a storm on the horizon. Problems, errors, cropping up in various places, that you are blissfully unaware of. But it won't stay that way forever. Soon you're normal life will change and you'll be dragged into the middle of the storm as others before you had. But what is happening and are you even capable of handling the trouble that is coming your way?
You don't have long to worry about it. It begins soon. Whether you're ready or not.
Technology
Technology exists in more advance forms. Holograms exist, robots that help around the house in more personal ways (not humanoid robots. those don't exist. at least for the people of the small town), computers have been compacted to fit in wristwatches or small phone-like devices that will open up keyboards/larger screens for typing and reading. Information travels super fast but some places they do lag behind. The Computer Club have "old-school computers" physical computers but still have higher processing powers than any computers now. I am a bit loose with what is around and isn't. If you'd like to know if something exists you can ask and I'll be fine with people mentioning various technologies existing as long as they aren't too wild or wouldn't be freely accessible to high schoolers or people of lower income.
Digivices & Crests
You'll get digivices not too far into entering the Digital World. They take the form of a smartphone but can only work as a digivice. They have information about Digimon after encountering them and show where each other device is located and have a basic map of the Digital World. They also allow for Digivolving. For normal evolving from weaker forms they work as normal and when using the crest they must have already scanned the crest in question and process that information to evolve the Digimon further. The crests after being scanned the first time will be absorbed into the device allowing for easy access to evolution but come at a risk (which will be explain in the ERRORs & Corruption section).
For evolution that require specifics like Armor and DNA, an item must be scanned into the device as well. Relics of the armor egg exist in the world and if found and scanned to completion they will allow the ability to perform that evolution. They aren't as difficult to find as one might imagine, but they have similar risks to the crests. For DNA, the Digimon in question must either be met and scanned or "parts" of it. With the current state of the Digital World, access to remains of Digimon are easier. Note remains in this case are more like fossils and not corpses. You won't need to be scanning dead Digimon into your digivice.
Crests work as they did previously, but they aren't around at the start of the adventure. Each person must still express their crest in question but as time goes on, it will require less and less from the person. If someone shows the opposite of their crest, it may result in either preventing a Digimon from evolving or in worse case scenario a dark evolution.
ERRORs & Corruption
First spread as rumors in the real world, Digimon and technology are acting out of the norm. Some have change in personality or lose the ability to do certain things. Technology is shutting down, not working or giving wildly different results as if they are corrupted or broken. Certain places in the world may look like there is a "glitch" in reality but all areas are either unaccessible or vanish as quickly as they appear. No one in Halram are aware of these things outside of rumors and moderate problems with technology but if anything is amiss it is being kept from the main group.
Once in the Digital World these problems become more obvious. Parts of the world are corrupted and entering them will cause the digivices to malfunction preventing evolution or attacks and may even cause a Digimon's essence to be altered and may also alter the Digidestined, although the effects of that is currently unknown. Too many uses of the Digivice in corrupted zones will permanently alter the device even outside of these areas.
ERRORs are corrupted pieces of data that may at first glance appear to be Digimon but aren't. What they truly are is unknown at this time. They can be destroyed.

♠ The Digital World is being slowly corrupted but the why and how is unknown. This is the main driving plot.
