kassandra
Daughter of Milo and Kida
Light filtered in through the large bay windows that lined the walls, illuminating the dust particles that floated through the air. The room was quite large, with two floors and a pleasant combination of natural and synthetic light. The first floor was made up of rows upon rows of wooden bookshelves divided into several categories, each packed full of hardback books. Up a grand staircase made of marble and lined with ornate rails was the second floor. It had several study areas, with sets of tables and chairs or even couches and bean bag chairs. But, there was more to the area than seen at first glance. Tucked behind an unassuming divider in an area that most people did not venture to was the Auradon Prep Library Restricted Section, where one-of-a-kind, old, and rare books were housed and protected. And that was where Kassandra could be found.

It was dead quiet, too early for anyone to really be out and about. But the brunette daughter of Atlantis had gotten up early, intent on doing a last bit of research before leaving for the so-called quest they were tasked with. When the King and Queen had first mentioned leaving in search of some rare artifacts, Kass couldn't help but be skeptical. After all, why would the royalty of Auradon entrust such an important task to a ragtag bunch of hero and villain kids alike, many of whom didn't even get along? Nevertheless, she couldn't help but be curious, not only to find out what those artifacts were and why the King and Queen wanted them but also to learn a little bit more about the kids from the Isle that had joined them.

So, she had spent a lot of time in the library's Reference and Restricted areas in the past few weeks leading up to their trip. Her turquoise spiral-bound journal was filled almost to the brim with sticky notes and nearly illegible handwriting, a combination of all the research she had done. Kassandra had hoped that it would come in handy at some point in the future. But she knew, in the back of her mind, that she was overpreparing a bit. Whatever the case, her urge to learn and know more kept her focused. But unfortunately, one piece of knowledge still eluded her. On the corner of her table sat a worn, leatherbound stack of parchment, the same symbol that branded her hand-engraved into its cover. It was an old journal, similar to the one her father had found all those years ago. But, it was written in a different language, one she had been trying to translate for some time with little success. The only phrase she could make out was the 'Soul of Atlantis.'

The sound of an alarm pulled her from her thoughts, and Kassie glanced down at her phone, realizing she had been rifling through pages for a few hours. "Damn it, I'm running late," she muttered to herself, collecting her pens and journal into her backpack. As she stood up to leave, the old journal caught her attention again. The brunette princess stared at it for a moment, feeling drawn to the old parchment but knowing that books from the Restricted Section were not allowed to leave. In an impulsive moment, Kassandra clandestinely shoved the journal into her bag, tucking it beneath a hoodie in an attempt to hide it were anyone to stop her. Thankfully, though, the librarian barely offered her a glance on her way out, by this time used to the strange hours that she inhabited the library.

Kassandra hurried through the hallways of Auradon Prep, her backpack already packed and slung over her shoulders. She had gotten her things together the night before. But, due to the excitement and possibly anxiety instilled in her from their quest, the Atlantean couldn't get herself to sleep. So, instead, she paused at the campus coffee stand for a cup of liquid energy, savoring the bitter flavor. If nothing else went right that day, at least she had a good cup of espresso. Kass continued on to the courtyard, their designated meeting place, but quickly realized that she might be too much of an early riser. Seeing no one else around, she leaned against a nearby tree and pulled her sketchpad from her back, continuing to work on a detailed drawing of Atlantean architecture. Kassandra wouldn't admit it, especially since her parents had practically sent her away to Auradon because they didn't want to deal with her. But she truly missed home. Maybe this trip would give her a chance to return to Atlantis, if only for a bit.

Antony
Son of Maleficent
With windows covered by heavy, blackout curtains, it was no wonder the dorm room was practically pitch black. Underneath the plush, charcoal gray comforter lay the blonde man, his eyes closed and his mind tucked away into sleep. A tall glass bottle sat on the table alongside his bedside, the amber liquid it contained nearly halfway gone. Underneath the label's ornate gold-leafing were the words 'aged' and 'scotch,' clearly stating what the bottle contained. It was a detrimental habit, but it was the only way to calm his mind enough to sleep. After all, he didn't dream when he was drunk. Or rather, have a nightmare. Even though he was still fairly young, Antony had been through quite a bit in his short life. Every time he closed his eyes sober, he saw her, injured and falling to her death to the cavern below. And there was nothing he could do about it.

The digital bells of an alarm sounded from the bedside table, a reminder to wake up on time for what was happening that day. A fist shot out from underneath the comforter, barely stopping itself before it crushed into the glass screen. Tony had had to replace his phone several times in the past due to his aggression. Well, that or entice a fairy to fix it for him. Either way, it had gotten costly over the years, and was certainly representative of his temper. But, what could be expected from the son of such a notorious villain as Malificent? After a few moments, Antony threw back the comforter, and stared at the ceiling for a moment, hating the idea of waking up early. He had a slight headache, likely due to the bottle of scotch nearby. But it was nothing a few painkillers couldn't handle.

With an annoyed groan, the blonde swung his legs around and stood from the bed to stretch. He was still fairly tired still, only getting a couple hours of sleep. But it was enough to get him through the day. Antony spent a few moments getting ready, running his hands through his hair to style it. He slipped into his signature leather jacket and slung his backpack over his shoulder before heading out the door, not even bothering to say something to his roommate. To be completely honest, Tony wasn't sure he knew his roommate's name anyway. The halls were still fairly bare, with a few other students and some staff milling about. He preferred it that way, not doing well when in crowds. Hopefully, it would be too crowded on their trip.

When Antony had first heard he had been chosen to go on some quest, he had questioned the sanity of the royals in charge. After all, who would entrust a so-called villain's kid with something that important? But, the artifacts were important to the King and Queen, which meant that there was more to them than they were letting on. He wasn't quite sure what that meant. But if they wanted them, then so did he. And so, Tony kept his head down, agreed to go, all the while putting their plan in motion. Pulling him from his thoughts, Tony stepped outside into the Auradon air. It was definitely different from the smog-filled toxic sludge they breathed on the Isle, pleasant and refreshing. So much so that he barely noticed the walk from his dorm to the meeting locating in the courtyard. Kassandra was already there, with her signature sketchpad and coffee. But Antony would rather not deal with all her questions so early in the morning. Instead, he stood to the side, waiting for the others.

The previous night was pretty calm for Callista. She spent her evening on her own. At first, she thought to go and bother Antony for a while but then she reconsidered. The girl needed to clear her head before the whole quest thing started. And so the young pirate sat on the window sill for the significant part of the night, kept looking out and wondered why it was her and a few other VKs that were chosen to go on this quest. Something was telling her she should have felt honored. But the pirate in her was stronger and kept telling her that this was no honor at all. After all, if they trusted her and the three guys, they would have let them going on their own. But nah, they gave them those goodie-good chaperones to go with. Truly, thank god for Antony. He was the closest thing to family Cal had. And the whole scavenger hunt thing was going to be more bearable if he was on board as well. Cal was a difficult person, not many people found her likeable because she was extremely guarded and never let anyone closer than they deserved. Yet Antony was always there whether she needed to complain or bitch out. And truthfully, he was the only person who ever saw her shed a tear.

When Cal woke up that morning, she knew it was way too soon to be awake. Sun might have been coming up but it was still way too soon to be out of bed. She tucked herself deeper in the sheets and tried to get a bit more of the delicious sleep but that was done. She was that type. Once up, no going back to sleep. After a few tosses around and trying to prevent the sun rays entering the room. Once again, a groan left her lips. Everything was too bright. The sun, the room, even the sheets in her bed were emanating that brightness and joy that this whole place was soaked with. Kicking the comforter away, Cal sat up and rolled over to leave the bed. She was really not excited about leaving and was still not packed. Whatever, right?

It was only a while later that she returned from the bathroom. The whole place was quiet and she assumed that her roommate was still asleep. Thank god. Cal was so not in a mood to listen to that girl. Whoever she was. Cal never bothered to learn her name. Not that they really talked. But she didn’t really want to see her either. Way too righteous and, ugh, oh so good. She was all sticky with that goodness and justice and …yeah, Cal could just throw up.

Packing was easy for her, she just grabbed everything she saw fit and shoved it in a backpack. One would think she needed a bit more stuff for such a quest but well oh well, there were only so many things she actually owned. Not like the VKs were the rich kids. They could only afford so much and with her no good father slipping away with everything the Hook family ever owned, Callista was left with nothing. Bitter much? Definitely so. Cal may have been the master pretender but inside, she was extremely angry that her father didn’t like her enough to stick around. Or at least take her with him. What she understood was that he took his chance with that glitch in the barrier. But why his own daughter was not on board, that was beyond her.

After she applied one last layer of her ruby red lipstick, Cal puckered her lips at the mirror reflection and was ready to go. Slamming the door after her, not caring at all whether she woke the goodie-2-shoes up or nah, she strutted down the hall, carrying the backpack in her left hand. For a moment, she considered to put on her signature eyepatch, the one she didn’t need at all but liked to wear it to let everyone know who she was, but then decided against it. Her outfit was great as it was already. Screaming the bad bitch.

Getting her usual cup of coffee on her way, black and bitter like her soul, Cal sipped the dark liquid, hoping someone would bring breakfast. Though something was telling her that it was not happening. But hey, girl could hope, right? And with those hopes up, the pirate walked to the courtyard seeing she was not the first one to arrive. Unfortunately, not the last one either so it meant waiting. Her dark brown orbs examined who was out there and seeing Kass, she immediately flicked her gaze away. Thank god Antony was there so naturally, her steps led to her friend. “What’s the chance we could take off on our own, Tony? Collect the pieces and…well…” she winked at him mischievously, knowing very well he would know what she meant. Cal threw her backpack on the ground and stretched her neck until she heard a series of loud cracks. “Where the hell is everyone anyway?”

Rhys Rider

How you doin'?
Name's Rhys.

mood: goofy as always
location: courtyard

When Rhys finally woke up, his room was already empty. His roommate Roman was gone, possibly some of his morning routines or whatever. Rhys would never understand how the man really woke up so early every morning, danced his ass off and then went to class. Mostly… WHY? Young Rider, on the other hand, would sleep through his life if he could. And parents would bust his ass for missing school.

Last night, Rhys sneaked back to his room late. A piece of paper with a few numbers in a line was lying on his bed stand. “Oh well, Anita...Alicia...Amanda...whatever your name was. You were juuust...lovely….” he muttered under his breath and the small piece of paper flew to the trash bin. Poor girl was never going to hear from him again. He could be an asshole like that and there were way too many people to agree that the boy needed a proper beating. Well, there you have it. After all, he was his father’s son alright. And Flynn was more than proud, rest assured. Rapunzel? Not so much. But to punish her son for his shenanigans, she would have to catch him first and with husband who only supported that in their son…well, there was parenting done right for sure. At least their younger Finn was turning to be more like her.

After a longer while Rhys spent in bed, not willing to leave it just yet, he realized what day it was. He was all curious about the quest with villain kids they were supposed to launch today. Well, there was only one girl among the bunch of those bad kids which Rhys had called a waste of potential back then when the King and Queen brought these guys in. Had he been a ruler, he would definitely be wiser. Girls! This place needed more girls!

When he knew he couldn’t stay in bed any longer, Rhys jumped up and started getting ready with a nice long hot shower. He got dressed and ruffled his hair in the typical messy nest he usually wore. The very similar to what his dad used to have back in his old days. A few splashes of cologne and Rhys clicked his tongue and pointed a two-finger gun at himself in the mirror. As far as he was concerned, he was slaying it. And just like that, he walked out of his room, extra pep in his step, whistling like he had no worry in this world. And yet…wait. Rolling his eyes, Rhys returned to the room. He needed to pack. Duh!

Not that it took too long, he just got whatever he could lay his hands on, pushed it in the backpack, even packed a toothbrush! He was being responsible young adult, after all. Now he was ready to leave. Flashing one last look at the room, he was satisfied to double check and left.

The messy-haired boy was well on his way to the courtyard when something hit his nose. Pastry. Chocolate. Mmm, okay, scones!. His lips curled in a smile and just in case, he patted his pockets for a spare change. But even if he had some, it was not there anymore. But the tray was out there, in front of the bakery. Mr. Baker (he didn’t know his name, okay?!) just put them out there to cool a little. That was his cue. Young man just fixed the backpack on his shoulders, rubbed his hands together and darted forward, snatching one of those deliciously hot scones right from the tray. “Hey! Rider!” the voice from the bakery sounded. “I told you the last time! You’re going to regret this!” the baker yelled after him but Rhys was already turning the corner, laughing as he went.

But he stopped laughing really fast when he heard dull thuds after him. One look over his shoulder and he knew. The baker kept his promise and let his two great danes after him. Rhys stuck the scone between his teeth, sped up, and as he reached the nearest wall, he lunged himself up, pulling his body over the wall in an attempt to lose the dogs. Not that it calmed him down. He ran for his life, not even looking back to see if the danes were still hunting him. Really not worth it if you asked him. And the boy only slowed down once he hit the courtyard, teeth sank deep in his scone. “Mownin!” he waved as everyone there and removed the pastry from his mouth. “Yeah, morning, everyone!” he grinned, still slightly panting. “Bad guys, hi! Looking vicious!” he smirked at Cal and Tony as he walked towards Kassandra. “Kass, my lovely, don’t you look beautiful as ever! Are you ready? Want a scone? Got it fresh from the bakery, just for you.”

Britta

Four separate alarms went off before Britta was finally pulled out of dreamland and back into the world of the conscious. The redhead groggily began rubbing the sleep from her eyes as she slowly stretched in bed, taking a moment to ease into being awake before shutting off her phone. The melodic chime of the saving alarm signaled that this was her emergency, backup-backup, last call alarm. The one she had set to remind her to leave the dorm at this time so she wouldn’t be late. As Britta’s brain began functioning again, this realization sunk in and her blue eyes widened as she shot out of bed.

“Holy fairies I’m late!” She cursed, starting to do eight different things at once to get ready, rather than one at a time. Britta hopped around her room trying to put on one shoe, while looking for the other, while brushing her teeth, while combing her hair - wait, she didn’t have that many hands, did she? Oh well, no time to question her multitasking skills now!

The Princess of Arendelle threw on the rest of her clothes, regretting putting her shoes (or rather shoe) on first as she struggled to pull her bike shorts over her foot apparel and up to hide beneath her dress. Sure, maybe a dress wasn’t the most practical choice of outfit for an adventure, but if her mom and aunt could save Arendelle (the first time) in dresses, she could manage to do a quest in one. Besides, she liked the freedom of movement they provided and she had added an element of modesty with her shorts hidden beneath. (And honestly, when was Britta that practical anyways?) Now, just to find one more shoe and finish brushing her hair- where did that brush go- and she’d be ready for this grand adventure she and the other students would be going on! Hooray!

For as late as she was running now, Britta would have been worse off if she hadn’t been packed since the day they found out about the quest. Her backpack was prepped and filled with the assortment of things the young woman imagined she’d need, and was just sitting on her desk waiting for her. She’d even laid out her outfit the night before, giddy with excitement and wanting this morning to go smoothly. Though for as proactive as she had been, and thank goodness she was, Britta still let out a squeal and another of her curses as she glanced at the clock.

“Jiminy Crickets!” Where was Kassandra when she needed her? Her old roommate had always kept her on time, but ever since Auradon had been trying to match VKs with hero children as much as possible, she hadn’t even seen her new roommate in a few weeks. Maybe she was avoiding her? Britta stopped for a moment to ponder the awful thought before shrugging it off. Nah, she was probably just being dramatic. How could her roommate not like her? She’d brought the dark, brooding girl sweets almost everyday and made her a glittery poster to welcome her to the dorm... How could she be mad at that?! Oh well!

Finally Britta was ready, and she flew out the door of her room... only to fly immediately back in. Almost forgot her bag! Grabbing her backpack and swinging it over her shoulder, Britta left in a flurry once again! Both excited and worried about being late, Britta made haste across the campus to where she was supposed to meet the others. A couple of pit stops derailed her momentarily on the way, but as she reached the group her cheeks were flushed from running (more like skipping) the entire way.

“Hey guys!” Britta greeted, smiling but breathless. “Sorry I’m a little late. I wanted to be the first here, and I set like a hundred alarms, but I must not have heard them. I mean I was having this awesome dream with flying bagels and chipmunks that could talk and this super dreamy prince who- actually my dream isn’t important!” The cheerful princess chirped, getting lost in her excited chatter. “What is important is today and that we’re all here! Well almost all here! At least I’m not the last to show up, I was sure I would be...” Suddenly a thought occurred to Britta as she remembered the reason for one of her pit stops on the way over.

“Do you guys think these other worlds have chocolate there?” She asked seriously, despite the ridiculousness of her inquiry. “Well, I wasn’t sure so to be safe I’m bringing a lot of chocolate just in case.” She added, her smile returning as she looked around at the group. Antony and Cal didn’t seem to be thrilled to be there but they were probably just not morning people. At least Kass and Rhys didn’t look as glum. Hopefully the other three got here soon!

Lewis

Lewis had been dreading this day ever since he’d learned that he would be amongst eight students sent on a quest to retrieve magic artifacts. He’d been up for hours already, unable to sleep as his mind played out different scenarios of how the quest would turn out. None of them ended in success. The idea of four VKs teaming up with four heroes’ kids was a recipe for disaster. The Auradon dwellers may have been living in a fairytale, but adding those from the Isle of the Lost pretty much ensured there would be no happy ending. What a shock this would be to the perfect goodie goods. Maybe the heroes’ disappointed expressions when they failed the quest would make this hopeless expedition worthwhile.

There was no sense of urgency as Lewis got ready, packed and made his way across campus. If he was holding the others up, he didn’t care. If anything, he was doing them a favor by postponing what was surely going to be a regrettable experience. Even knowing that some of the people he tolerated the most were going to be on the quest with him was little consolation.

Antony and Beckett were his friends, though he’d never admit that, but Lewis wasn’t convinced their presence would be enough to offset the presence of the others. Sure he didn’t know Britta or Rhys well, but he wasn’t holding his breath that they weren’t going to annoy the hell out of him. Plus he already had bad blood with Gemma and Cal, admittedly more with the latter, though it was complicated since he’d known her since childhood on the Isle of Lost. And then there was Kassandra, the one original Auradon student that he actually didn’t mind.

As Lewis casually strode towards the group that had begun to gather, he let out a slow breath. No turning back now, though as much as he didn’t want to go on the quest, he had never considered not participating. He didn’t want to give the monarch any reason to think the VKs should be sent back to the island. Lewis strongly believed he and his family never belonged on the island in the first place, but now he never wanted to go back. Even if it meant working with the freakishly happy girl who was going on about chocolate.

“And here I was afraid we’d be caught looking like idiots without any chocolate...” Lewis said sarcastically. “Hope you brought some marshmallows and graham crackers too. I heard that Earth only barters in s’mores.” He added, smirking a little at the worried expression that flitted across Britta’s face for a moment before she realized he was joking. He rolled his eyes when she looked even more disappointed that Earth didn’t use s’mores as currency. This was going to be a long quest.

Moving past Britta, Lewis walked over to Antony, “Morning.” He greeted, purposefully leaving off the “good” part. He then glanced at Cal, nodding at her simply. As the saying went, keep your “friends” close and enemies closer, and that was how their relationship (or lack there of) had always been. If not for their mutual friends Antony and Beckett, he likely would avoid Hook’s daughter as much as possible. But the Isle of Lost had a way of bonding people through shared misery.

Arianna had been up for hours, or so it felt like. A quick glance at the clock told her she was just hitting the two hour mark. Looking back in the mirror, she leaned forward to apply her eyeliner, not caring how long it took as long as it was perfect. When her wing was sharp enough to cut, she recapped the eyeliner, finished with some mascara, and then tucked both tubes into the side of her bag for easy access later. No way was she stepping foot out of her dorm looking like she just rolled out of bed. She'd straightened her hair the night before, so all she needed this morning was a quick touch up, and then the flatiron was going in its heat-proof pouch and into her bag as well. She'd been advised to cut down her bags, and she had, from five to one. It had been quite a feat, but her backpack was stuffed full now, and once she got dressed she'd be ready to go.

Truthfully, she didn't even remember where the King and Queen said they'd be going first. If they'd even said. Arianna had tuned out at some point after hearing her name called, and not hearing Peter's. He was her best friend here in Auradon, and the person who grounded her more often than not. He was also the go-between for her and other people, because not many people knew how to handle Arianna and her tantrums, as Peter called them. She didn't mean to act that way, it just happened. Especially if she thought someone was trying to come between her friendship with him. She'd even toyed with the thought of having feelings for him, but he'd made it clear they were just friends. Best friends, but just friends all the same.

But now she'd be without him, probably with a bunch of people she didn't like, or who didn't like her. Wrinkling her nose, she zipped her bookbag shut once more, having to fight with it to do so. Once she straightened, she flipped her hair over her shoulder and turned to her closet. The sheer curtains did little to hide the sunlight, but Arianna just threw herself in the closet, looking for the perfect outfit. It took longer than it did to do her eyeliner, but finally she emerged, completely dressed and pretty much ready to go. After doing a quick onceover of the room, she eyed her roommates still sleeping figure as she flung her bag over her shoulder. Lucky. She thought, sighing as she left the shared room to head to the meeting point.

On the way, she stopped and grabbed a double vanilla expresso, which was still piping hot when she reached the hodgepodge group. "Fantastic." She muttered, doing a quick study of the group to see who she wanted to interact with. If anyone. Definitely not Lewis, Callista, or Tony. Rhys was also a negative, and even though Ari had been up for a while, she wasn't awake enough to deal with Britta's energy. Her feet started walking her towards Kass, stopping a few feet in front of the girl, peering onto the sketchpad in her hands. "How's your research coming?" Though she sounded disinterested, Kass was the closest thing she had to a friend here, and from the little she knew, Ari wanted Kass to be able to find the answers she wanted.

Somewhere in Beckett's sleeping mind, he heard his alarm going off, he just wasn't prepared enough to turn it off. He didn't seem to care, even as his door crept open and a dark shadow slipped into the room. It was still beeping, right there on the pillow beside his head, but his eyes didn't even flutter. He continued to snore lightly, the shadow creeping further into the room before it straightened, towering over him. At the last minute, his eyes shot open and he reached out, grabbing the wrist of the intruder and yanking them forward, onto the bed. Pulling their arm behind their back, he continued to ignore the annoying alarm, more concerned with who was trying to kill him.

"Jesus, man, let go!" He knew he recognized the voice, but it took him a minute to recognize who it actually was. When he blinked a few times and his roommates face came into view, he visibly relaxed, a grin appearing on his lips. "Jesus, Beckett, I was just trying to get you to shut your fucking alarm off and get up." Floyd muttered, wrenching himself out of Beckett's grip now that Beckett had loosened it. Looking down at the alarm in question, Beckett reached for the phone and easily shut the noise off, leaving the two of them alone in the dark and quiet.

"Get out of my bed, unless you wanna stick around. Have some fun, maybe." Beckett grinned, knowing that he himself wasn't gay, and neither was Floyd. But Floyd had grown up in Auradon, whereas Beckett had grown up on the isle. Their senses of humor were quite different, and as he suspected, Floyd hurried to get up and leave the room. Throwing back his comforter, Beckett revealed the toned body underneath, covered in only a pair of boxers. He yawned as he pulled on some clothes, grabbing his backpack from where he'd thrown it on the floor the night before. He didn't have an expansive list of what to pack, but he figured some clothes and a few other necessities would be good.

Leaving the dorm, he tucked his phone into his pocket as he headed for the meeting place, still yawning when he got there. "Morning, bitches." He rested an arm on Callista's shoulders as he approached, throwing a smirk in her direction. "Someone got up on the right side of the bed this morning." Winking, he dropped his arm and greeted Lewis and Tony with a nod. "Am I last? Probably. When are we leaving? Where are we going first? Fuck, I don't remember anything." He laughed as he glanced around at the rest of the group, seeing who all was coming. "What a fantastic group we have here."

It was insane to think how long Atlantis had survived, hidden away from the rest of the world. What had once been a powerful and fearsome empire had crumbled under its own hubris. leading to the death of many Atlanteans and a flood trapping the city beneath the ocean's surface. Kass, of course, had not been born yet at that time. She had grown up in the underground depths of the city, where it existed to that day. But her mother passed on stories from her grandfather of that era, despite his attempts to destroy written history and force everyone to forget. Luckily, however, her father's arrival in Atlantis had brought the truth to light. Her pencil danced across the page, creating the smooth curves and intricate Atlantean designs that the architecture in the city possessed. There was a certain elegance to it, a contrast of soft and harsh representative of the city's people. It was something Kassandra had admired for as long as she could remember.

Footsteps approaching her spot near the tree caught the brunette's attention, and she briefly raised her golden brown eyes to find Antony had arrived. Despite her questions and general curiosity, he had remained rather standoffish. She would have absolutely loved to get inside his head, but held back as she didn't want to completely drive him away. Callista arrived shortly after, much to Kassandra's annoyance. They never really liked one another as their personalities clashed. Taking a sip from his cup, the brunette dropped her gaze to her sketchpad again, adding some shadows to give the drawing dimension. So far, it had been a rather peaceful morning, only the sounds of the morning birds and idle chatter filling the air. However, that was cut short by a familiar peppy tone.

Kass glanced up as she heard him approach, a smirk playing on the corners of her lips. This was going to be good."Rhys, I always forget how much of a morning person you are," she answered, sarcasm very clear in her tone. "I suppose I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Not quite sure what they're thinking, sending this rag tag bunch on such an important trip. But hey, I guess that's why I'm not in charge." Kassandra briefly glanced at the scone he held, tilting her head at the clear bitemarks pressed into the pastry. Her grin widened a bit as she looked back up at him and responded, "Rhys, I have known you long enough to not trust where your mouth has been. So, I'm going to have to pass."

Britta and Lewis arrived next, bantering about Earth's use of chocolate and whatnot. It was always interesting seeing how VKs interacted with hero's kids, especially though that truly embodied 'good' as the red head did. "I'm sure they have plenty of chocolate, Brit. But it doesn't hurt to always have more," Kass responded, despite Lewis's snarky comments. It was clear as Ari and Beckett rounded out their groups that the natural cliques had already started to form. The princesses and prince of Auradon had gathered while the VKs had formed their own small group. The Atlantean couldn't help but find them fascinating, wondering what their stories were and how they ended up on the Isle and back. While she had pulled a little bit out of Lewis, the other three weren't so easy to comprehend. Nevertheless, as someone who craved the truth, she was certainly going to keep trying.

"Things are going about as well as they can," Kass replied to Ari, shrugging a shoulder as nonchalantly as she could muster. While she was still having trouble reading the journal, she had done some research on the so-called missing artifacts they were after in addition to their supposed locations. For most of them, however, she couldn't quite figure out what was so special about the hunks of junks. What was it about those particular pieces that made Auradon leadership crave them so badly? Now that everyone had arrived, Kass realized that she wasn't quite sure where they were going or how they would get there. "Does anyone-" she began to ask, but a sharp breeze caught the pages of her sketchpad, flipping them to the end where there was a city skyline sketch that wasn't her. "What the-" Her words were cut off by the page erupting in a blinding light. In the split second, the light was gone and, instead of standing in Auradon, they were on a city street corner. "Where the hell are we?"

To be completely honest, Antony was surprised that Kassandra hadn't talked to him. She was always so curious about his life and his 'story' as she called it. He had gotten used to and strangely sometimes looked forward to rejecting her probing questions, seeing the disappointment on her face. Nevertheless, she kept her nose in her sketchpad and didn't approach the VK. Who knows, maybe she had finally given up on him, like everyone else in Auradon had. After all, who could ever care about the son of such a vicious murderer, as they called his deceased mother? The thought made the cynical man chuckle lowly as he placed a cigarette between his lips, lighting it. Taking a deep inhale of the breakfast cancer stick, Tony savored the bitter burning that settled into his lungs before exhaling the smoke into the otherwise clean air above his head. If he was going to get through this trip, he was going to need a lot of alcohol and nicotine.

Footsteps approached, and Tony turned his head to find a familiar face heading in his direction. Cal was one of his closest friends, having met as kids and practically grown up together on the Isle. Neither one of them had had parental supervision, so they were the closest thing to family that each other had anymore. "Morning, Cal," he said, offering her a signature charming grin. Antony couldn't help but tilt his head curiously at her words, wondering truly what the possibility of that was. At the end of the day, he knew that the artifacts were important, that there was more to them than some silly museum pieces to add to the wealthy's collection. "On our own, like old times," the blonde man responded, pulling another drag from his cigarette. "As much as I would love to leave these 'golden children' behind, we might actually need them. We'll have to wait and see."

The arrival of Britta and Lewis made their group a little bigger, almost everyone arriving. Good, the sooner they could leave and get this over with, the better. Britta was sweet and innocent in a blatantly naive way. While Antony normally despised anything to do with royalty, princes and princesses included, she was a little different. She truly believed in the good in the world, and didn't seem to be able to hurt a fly even if she wanted to. He would never admit it, but somewhere deep down, he had a bit of a soft spot for her. Hearing her interaction with Lewis caused a smirk to turn up the corners of his lips. "Morning, Lewis," Tony greeted as the Wonderland native joined their little group, "Not a fan of s'mores, I take it?" The teasing tone dripped from his words, representative of the type of relationship he and Lewis had. While they bantered and bickered, each knew that the other had their back.

Finally, Beckett arrived and it seemed as though their little group was all ready to go. "I honestly don't even remember. Was there a schedule we were given? It would be just like this place to give us an itinerary and plan every--" Antony began to say, annoyed by the idea of them being so controlled. But he was cut off by a blinding light, surprising him and causing him to drop his cigarette to the ground. "What the hell?" The light was gone as soon as it arrived, and the peaceful sounds of birds chirping and idle chatter were replaced by car engines, honking, and footsteps clattering against cement. Tony had never seen a city before outside of the college at Auradon. The Moors were more village like in nature too. But this was a true, industrialized city. "Well, looks like we aren't in Kansas anymore," he stated, glancing around in an attempt to find out where they were. Forest green eyes landed on a sign and Antony smirked. "Welcome to Seattle, everyone."

This quest seemed to be tailor-made for Callista Hook. And the rulers of Auradon were wither naïve, stupid or both if they deemed wise to send a pirate to collect valuable magical items. Not that Cal would ever protest. She had come to Auradon with a certain goal and she still waited for the right opportunity to destroy this peaceful saccharine world. With Tony by her side, it was going to be a piece of cake, once she found her father’s compass. And though she and Tony had different views and reasons for destruction of Auradon, well, Cal didn’t really mind. At least they were not clashing over the reign. Tony wanted to see them in ruins and Cal? She wanted to own them, have them firmly gripped in the palm of her hand so they would be at her mercy. After all those years on the Isle, she deserved a little…compensation.

But for now, alas, she needed to play along. When asking Tony if they could take off on their own, she was joking. Mostly. A part of her meant it. All they really needed was the list of places where to go, right? But hearing Tony’s answer to that, all Cal could do was groan. “When did we get to this point, Antonio?” she shook her head in pure disbelief. “VKs actually needing these sugar people? Jesus, that’s like an instant diabetes.” she grumbled. As if to confirm her words, Britta appeared and Cal exhaled. “What are the chances she’s too tired to ta…” Cal didn’t even finish her question when Britta launched her rapid fire of words and the pirate just returned to her coffee to fill her mouth with hot liquid. It wouldn’t serve her well to bitch right away. Yes, even a girl like Callista had already learned a thing or two about behavior after spending a year in Auradon.

As Lewis joined them, he and Cal just exchanged nods. At this point, it kind of felt like the two basically tolerated each other, considering they were the minority here. Four VKs against the rest of the Sugar Land. And Cal always knew where her roots were. Only when something landed on her shoulders, Cal actually acknowledged Beckett’s arrival. One more guy that hung out with the crowd and honestly, Cal was not exactly the fondest of him but since he hung out with Tony and Tony hung out with Cal, it all just made them this weird crowd of misfits. As the son of Ursula spoke to her, she just flashed him a grimace. “Pleasure as always, Octo-boy. Now take that tentacle off me before I cut you.” Cal chirped in the most fake of voices.

As Beckett started to ask about the details of the quest, Callista just shrugged. “Who the hell cares? One of them totally has everything memorized, just follow them. Means less work for us.” Cal pointed at the Auradon kids. And just as Tony started to talk, the were blinded by bright light, swept away by the gust of wind. And all of a sudden, the group found themselves in the middle of the street that was quite different than anything Callista saw in her life before. Instinctively, she kept herself close to Tony just in case something was going to go down and it was her friend who informed them where they were. Seattle. Cal couldn’t say she ever heard about that one. But apparently, the item they were supposed to find was here so, no point in standing around. The sooner they found it, the sooner Cal could snatch it and figure out how to use it in her favor. “Okay, sugar kids! Where to?” she asked, setting her hands on her hips, tilting her head inquisitively. “At least one of you has to have an idea so…enlighten me. I’m all ears.”

Rhys Rider

How you doin'?
Name's Rhys.

To Rhys, this whole thing was just louds of fun. He got to travel around countries with his friends and there was no school. Plus, if they hunted down all artifacts, they would be praised and maybe he could squeeze some extra credit out of it. Hey, that was the sweetest deal…like ever! The only disadvantage? This early waking up. Seriously. Who does that? Definitely not Rhys Rider. If they wanted an early bird, his roommate was the perfect choice. Not that Rhys was going to trade places, not in a million years. But whoever was in charge, Rhys was all ready to have a little chat with them to explain early mornings were not good for mind and that they should be able to sleep at least until…nine? Ten? Yeah, ten sounded pretty good to him. At least he managed to snatch some breakfast on his way to the courtyard. Though if it was up to him and had the means, he would have taken more of those little baked pieces of chocolate goodness. Preferably the whole tray. But even this guy knew not to temp fate. Those grate danes looked like they meant serious business.

Smiling wide, he arrived with that scone between his teeth and headed straight to Kass. “I am very much of a morning person, my lovely Kassandra, but this ain’t no morning. Morning in Rhysland starts no later than ten o’clock. Anything earlier than that is a pure crime and should be punishable by death.” Rhys explained with the index finger of his left hand raised high as if it was a vital lesson for Kass to learn. When she rejected his scone with that smartassy comment of hers, Rhys grinned and sent her an air kiss. “Your loss.” he shrugged and took a rather large bite, chewing thoughtfully. It was possibly the best scone he had ever eaten. Fresh, fluffy, soft, the chocolate was still hot from the oven and not ever Rhys’ run for bare life cooled it. Just pure heaven right there.

As Britta arrived, Rhys moved a little to see everyone, even the VKs standing in a good distance from him and the girls. Cliquey af if you asked him but whatever. But before he managed to call something out to the “bad kids”, Britta started her little rant on…everything. But what got Rhys’ attention was a mention of chocolate. Kass ensured her there was going to be plenty of that in other worlds and Rhys just casually hung his arm around Britta’s shoulders. “And if not, I got you. Wanna bite?” he winked and offered the scone. Don’t judge him, he earned it and was proud he did. Moreover, getting it was basically a trial by combat, okay? He held out that piece of pastry to Britta just as Ari arrived, ignoring everyone except Kass. “Morning to you too, sunshine.” Rhys called out to the blonde, knowing she was probably going to be annoyed even with that.

Rhys was still holding Britta and filtered everything out for a moment as he took another bite from his scone when it happened. Kass was doing something over there but he was not paying attention enough to know what and suddenly, they were not in Auradon anymore. Swallowing his latest bite, Rhys let go of Britta and turned around in one place to see what world that was. Yet, he did not really recognize it. And after Tony welcoming them in Seattle, well…it didn’t help. Rhys had no idea what Seattle was or which world it was in. After Callista’s question, he lifted his arms in a defensive gesture. “Don’t look at me, pirate princess, I’m here to keep you entertained, not the brains.” he laughed and looked at Kass who most likely knew what to do next. At least in his book. That girl was the smartest cookie in the jar to Rhys.

Britta

Britta moved over towards Kass and Rhys as the former assured her that wherever they were going likely had chocolate. The redhead's cheeks flushed ever so slightly when her childhood friend and most recently ordained crush, Rhys, hung his arm over her shoulder. She glanced over at him, blue eyes brightening when he offered her some scone. At least someone else had their priorities straight this morning too! Sweets and pastries were one of Britta's weaknesses, so she couldn't resist taking Rhys up on his offer. "Thanks!" She beamed, breaking off a small piece of the scone to have a taste. The morning may have gotten off to a rough start, but it was already taking a turn for the better.

As Ari and Beckett rounded off the group, questions about where they were going began to arise. Britta had no idea where they were supposed to go or how they were getting there, so she was more interested in the piece of scone she'd taken. Just as she raised the pastry to her mouth, a blinding flash of light was expelled from Kass's sketch book, encompassing the group. Britta let out a startled gasp, and dropped her scone just as the motley crew was transported to a new world. As the light faded in the Auradon courtyard, the only evidence that anyone had just been standing in that very spot was Tony's cigarette and a piece of scone lying forgotten in the grass.

The unexpected transportation had caused Britta to instinctively grab on tightly to Rhys, but as she regained her senses, she was quick to release the young man. The sounds of cars, horns, and people were overwhelming and Britta stood a little dazed as she tried to get her bearings. Rhys released her shoulder as he looked around, and Britta glanced over at Tony when he announced that they were in a place called Seattle. "Seattle? What land is-...?" Britta began to ask, adding to the group of inquiries being formed, before trailing off when a new sound amongst the city noise's caught her attention. Floating on the wind, it sounded like someone was singing a melody that almost seemed familiar.

Turning away from the group as she looked for the source of the singing, Britta only half heard Cal and Rhys's comments about who should know what to do next. Consumed by curiosity, Britta started to walk away from the group's chatter so she could hear the song better. It was so faint amongst the sounds of the city, and the words were indiscernible. Nonetheless, Britta felt compelled to listen and discover the meaning. Enraptured by the song, the redhead lost all sense of awareness, and stepped out into the street despite the bright red "do not walk" symbol above her head.

The sudden blaring sound of a car horn and screeching brakes brought Britta back to reality, and she glanced over just in time to see the headlights of a large car about to hit her. Britta's eyes widened as she realized there was no escaping her premature demise, and she reflexively shut them tight and braced for the crushing impact that... never came.

When there were no sounds of crashing or screams, and the expected sensation of pain never came, Britta chanced opening her eyes, only to find herself sitting on the sidewalk with Lewis suddenly standing over her with an annoyed, and somewhat exhausted, expression on his face. "What... how...?" Britta breathed out, glancing around in confusion. One second she'd been in the middle of the street, marked for dead, and the next she was back safely on the curb. The car that was certain to hit her moments ago was now continuing on its way down the street, with no harm done. Britta's heart was still pounding in her chest, and she could only just sit there for a moment and thank her lucky stars she was still alive. "Holy frogger..."

Lewis

Lewis glared a little as Tony teased him about the s'mores, though he was not truly mad. "Wouldn't know. I've never had one, but I don't intend to find out..." He replied with a shrug. "Who knows, they could be poisoned and turn people good..." The young man added with a joking smirk. When Beckett arrived Lewis’s smirk turned into a grin. “Well, finally the party can start now. Better late than never!” If the VKs had to work with the Auradon kids on this quest, at least Tony and Beckett would be around. The goodie goods even made Cal seem more preferable to have around.

Lewis looked around at the group as questions about where they were going began to arise. He’d only half listened at the meeting where they were told about this quest. Surely one of the Auradon kids would have paid attention, though it was appearing as though that may not have been the case. Kassandra began talking and Lewis glanced her way, hoping she’d have some sort of plan, only to have to shield his eyes as a light exploded from her sketch book.

When Lewis reopened his eyes, he looked around at the new world they’d been transported to. The gloomy gray chaos of the city was reminiscent of the Isle of the Lost, but a far cry from bright and Sunny Auradon. Tony made quick work of discovering that they were now in a place called Seattle, though that only answered the “where” question. The questions of “what” they were supposed to do now and “how” they were supposed to do it still remained.

Lewis looked over at Cal when she commented that the Auradon kids should know how to proceed, agreeing with her sentiment. The prince didn’t seem to have any answers, claiming that he was only along for entertainment purposes. “Great, the council sent a clown to help...” Lewis grumbled with an eye roll. “Well if we need to distract a group of kids we know who to call...” He added sarcastically.

Turning his attention towards Kassandra, Ari and Britta, Lewis hoped one of the girls would have some insight. Kassandra and Ari stood together, taking in their surroundings, but Britta was off in her own world already, walking away from the group. “Ugh, does she know something we don’t?” Lewis asked the others, nodding towards the redhead.

Just as Lewis was about to be pleasantly surprised that Britta had the answers for once, the seemingly ditsy girl walked right into oncoming traffic. Perhaps Lewis had been spending too much time with the hero kids and they were starting to run off on him, because his instincts kicked in as a car was about to flatten the Princess, and he jumped into action. Focusing his energy on the powers he usually used to aid him in thievery or vandalism, Lewis snapped his fingers and brought time to a sudden stop.

Everything around Lewis froze, including his group of companions, Britta and the car inches from hitting her. His abilities only allowed him to freeze time for a few moments, so as tempting as it was to use this opportunity to fuck with his friends and the Auradon kids, Lewis had to stay focussed and act quick. Running over to Britta, he grabbed her backpack and yanked her backwards towards him and the safety of the sidewalk. While Lewis’s action of saving her was noble, Lewis was still no Prince Charming, and instead of catching Britta, he just let her fall back onto the ground.

A mere second after Britta’s butt hit the sidewalk, time resumed its forward march and the car slid past them. The driver let up off the brakes when they realized nothing was actually in the road anymore, and everything continues on without incident. Lewis let out a tired breath, worn out from using his powers, and glanced down at Britta annoyed. “What the fuck? We’re here for two minutes and you already need a babysitter.” He chastised her before he rejoined the group with a shake of his head.

It was irritating that he had to risk his reputation as a VK to help the Auradon girl. The last thing he wanted was for anyone to think he was going soft. But it would be even more irritating if the girl died and they had to deal with that mess on top of the quest they were on.

“Okay, so, does anyone have any idea of what we’re supposed to do? Any tingly sensations or premonitions or whatever shit all you heroes get to help out?” Lewis asked, trying to speed up things. He looked from Tony and Beckett to Cal, to Kass and Ari, to Rhys, and finally to Britta. An audible groan escapes him when Britta’s hand was the only one raised. The girl had gotten up and rejoined the group again. Rubbing his forehead as a headache began growing, Lewis listened as Britta started babbling on about hearing voices. Was it too late to back out of this adventure?

If Arianna were being honest with herself, she was nervous and filled with anxiety at the thought of leaving Auradon. Leaving Peter behind was also on her mind, because he was one of the few people who actually tolerated her presence because he liked having her around, and not because they felt sorry for her or whatever. Peter always made sure people were nice to her, and now she was going to be without him, on a quest to god knows where looking for god knows what. For a girl who liked and wanted attention, she didn't always go about getting it the best way, and once she saw the ragtag group of Auradon kids and VK's gathered by the gate, she knew things were not going to go smoothly the entire time.

Ignoring everyone but Kass, Arianna squashed down her insecurities and brought up the first safe topic she could think of: Kassandra's research. Though far from stupid, Arianna was no genius, not like Kass. But hearing that the research was going decently, she felt herself relax some, nodding as she reached up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. She'd heard Rhys's good morning sunshine comment, and she shot him a glare just as Kass started to ask if anyone... well, she never got a chance to finish as a blinding light filled the clearing, blinding Ari and the others but only for a second. When the light faded, they were in a city, on a busy street corner, and Arianna was horribly confused.

Tony found the sign first that told them they were in Seattle, but that didn't help much. Where the hell was that? And now what the hell were they supposed to do? Ari spun in a slow circle, looking at the tall buildings and busy streets, already feeling overwhelmed. She was forced to squash her fear again as she lowered her head to look at the others, spotting a familiar redhead just as she stepped into the street. "Brit-" Time froze before Ari could even get the word out, and when it resumed, Britta was on the ground but safe from the oncoming car. Blowing out a sharp breath, Ari turned her head to look at her and Lewis. Though Britta wasn't Ari's favorite person, the blonde still didn't want to see her run over.

"Jesus." Shaking her head, she lifted her gaze back to Lewis as he spoke, shaking her head in response to his question. When Ari noticed movement, she slid her gaze over to Britta, who was raising her hand. "Oh, my god. Are you telling me we have to follow the voices in your head, Britta?" Arianna cut the girl off as she started explaining what she heard, a loud groan following her words. Ari glanced around at the others in their group, noticing a couple looks of doubt, some of interest, and even some looks of boredom. With a slight eye roll, Arianna turned back to Britta, eyeing her carefully. "Fine. Lead the way. But for the love of god, can you not get run over? Please?"

Beckett wasn't exactly thrilled about being up so early or joining forces with the Auradon kids to play "find the treasure", but he was excited about the potential to increase his own power. Even though he couldn't remember where they were supposed to go or what they were looking for, they were going after magical artifacts, for god's sake. The king and queen had given them a warning, back at the assembly thing, stating that the kids weren't supposed to use the artifacts for their own gain. The instructions to bring the artifacts back to Auradon were explicit enough, but Beckett just didn't believe that they really expected them to do exactly that. If they did, they were dumber than he'd originally thought. He marveled at that for a few moments before he grinned over at Lewis in response to his words about the party beginning.

Beckett's gaze had just flicked over to Kass when the light appeared, blinding them all and even causing a small groan to tumble from Beckett's lips. When the light cleared a few seconds later, he looked around, taking a few steps away from the group to examine their surroundings. He completely missed Britta walking into the street, though he did hear the car horn and the screeching of brakes. He'd been in the process of turning around when Lewis froze time, though it started up again a short time later and Beckett was able to turn around completely. "What the hell was that?" He walked closer to the group again, looking down at Britta on the ground. His gaze flicked to Lewis as he reapproached, the redhead following suite not long after.

And of course, she was the one who claimed to hear voices in her head. Beckett reached up to run his fingers through his hair, blowing out a breath he hadn't been aware he was even holding. Arianna pretty much voiced his thoughts, and even though he wasn't crazy about the blonde and her attitude, he had to admit that they were on the same page for once. But if they were gonna find these damn artifacts, then maybe following Britta's voices was exactly what they had to do. "Seconded." He muttered in response to Ari telling her not to get run over as the group slowly started to move away from the street corner.

Beckett realized that the king and queen had really done a number on them by sending them on this quest. They were in an unknown area, a whole different world even, and they had no idea what to do, where to go, or anything. In fact, a surge of anger flowed through him as he realized just how not set up they were for this quest. No wonder they'd sent them, he realized. They wanted to see if they could survive, and if not, what was the big deal? It was just a couple of VK's and maybe even some kids from Auradon who wouldn't be missed. He grimaced as he moved closer to the VK nearest him, which just happened to be Cal. "Do you think they set us up?" He whispered to her, the anger still resonating on his face.

The bright light was rather debilitating for a moment and it took a moment for the Atlantean princess' golden eyes to adjust. Once they finally did, however, she was immediately taken aback by the sights and sounds of their new location. Vehicles were traveling rapidly in either direction, and several people milled about on the streets, a few of which shot the group of students dirty looks for practically blocking the entire sidewalk. Across from them was a large lit-up sign that read 'Public Market.' Something was familiar about the area as if she had seen pictures of it before in books but couldn't quite put her finger on it. Antony spoke up then, nodding his head towards a large sign that ready 'Seattle' and it all clicked in her brain. They were on Earth, from her father's original realm before he moved to Atlantis. She remembered the pictures he had shown her as a child, talking about his grandfather and that side of her family. She never had the chance to meet any of them, despite how much she had wanted to.

"We're on Earth, a different realm," Kass stated, slipping her sketchpad back into her backpack as she looked around. It was different than she had imagined, more modern and industrialized than her father's photos had portrayed. Her excitement was clear on her features, but it faltered when she turned to look at the others and found that they weren't as enthused, some even rather confused. And it dawned on her how unprepared they were for this type of quest. Where were they supposed to stay, what were they supposed to eat, and how were they supposed to pay for any of it? She was fairly certain that merchants would look at them like they were crazy if they tried to pay with Auradon money. "Guys, we need to come up with a pl-" Kassandra began, turning back to her cohort. But she was cut off by Lewis, nodding towards Britta who seemed to be wandering around in search of something. It was clear, however, that she didn't see the cars headed in her direction. "Britta!"

And then, in an instant, Britta was on the ground with Lewis nearby her, the car zooming past none the wiser. Kass could feel her heart racing with adrenaline, fear shooting through her veins like ice. She raced over to her friend, kneeling on the ground alongside her, immediately looking for injuries. Finding nothing pressing, she let out a breath she hadn't realized she had been holding. The princess turned her attention to Lewis and offered him a smile, "Thank you." With the group safely back on the sidewalk, their mission to understand what the hell they were supposed to do continued with Britta explaining the voices in her head. While it sounded farfetched, it seemed as though nothing about their trip would qualify as 'normal.' Kassandra made a mental note of that but otherwise nodded. "Ari's right. If you have the insight, you should lead the way, Britta. But yeah... please be a little more aware of your surroundings."

Son of Maleficent
To be completely honest, Antony was rather surprised they had changed realms so quickly. He had expected it to happen at some point but thought it would be more along the lines of Wonderland or Neverland. Seattle was certainly not on that list. He only knew about Earth briefly, listening to his mother tell stories of other lands where villains under the guise of heroes destroying something good. The area was far different from the Isle, where everything was dilapidated and broken down with little signs of hope, but also not similar to the regal luxury that was Aurdon. No, it was somewhere in between, and Tony wasn't quite sure if that was a good or a bad thing. While it slightly threw a wrench in his plans, not knowing much about the world he was in, he knew that he and his friends were adaptable, resourceful, and cunning. Despite the circumstances, they could still prevail.

Cal, impulsive as ever, approached the so-called 'sugar kids,' requesting their help in her own way. Tony couldn't help but chuckle, shoving his hands into the pockets of his leather jacket as he followed her to combine their groups. His eyes narrowed in on the prince of the group, and he couldn't help but roll his eyes. "At least he admits it," he answered, though there was a bit of bitterness in his voice. To be honest, he hadn't even noticed Britta wander away from the group, not until Lewis pointed it out. Her near-accident sent his heart racing, but Antony kept that to himself, not wanting to appear as though he cared too much about all the goodie-two-shoes. At Kass's mention of the redhead leading the way, following whatever voices were in her head, Tony let out an exasperated groan. "Really? We're going to be following what sounds like a mental break? Are we sure that is a good idea?"

At that point, the dragon woman's son was beginning to feel anger rush through his body like magma. It truly did seem as though they were being set up for failure, as though Aurdon royalty picked out the VK's to go on this quest for the sole purpose of watching them fall. Then, they would have a reason to send them back to the Isle. The heroes' kids were just the unfortunate souls randomly chosen to tag along, most likely only receiving a minor slap on the wrist at the end. No matter what, the VKs were never good enough and others would take every chance to make sure that they didn't succeed. But Antony would prove them wrong, take the artifacts and his fellow VKs and shove their accomplishments into the faces of those that doubted them. And he would enjoy it. "Alright, well, if she's our only option, I guess we have no choice," Antony said, annoyance clear in his tone. "Let's go."

There were a few things Cal didn’t particularly enjoy and not knowing what to do or not having an elaborate plan in advance was one of them. She never went into a fight without having one and sure, this might not be a fight but she would still prefer if they got some more detailed instructions than “go, fetch!” At this point, she had to rely on someone else, especially the Auradon princesses and that clown who called himself a prince. Cal simply had to agree with Lewis’ comment on how a clown was sent to help. No way this guy could be useful to the quest. He might as well be the backpack guy with food and water supply. Could the situation really get even worse? Apparently, it could. And the events that followed their little landing in Seattle only proved it.

The group was just standing on the pavement, trying to get used to the new surroundings. Cal might have been a pirate and all that jazz but she was never anywhere else than the Isle and Auradon. And though when she was kid, her dad told her stories about different worlds out there, this did not look like any world infamous Captain Hook had ever mentioned. None of the worlds he described had flashy lights, noisy boxes on wheels moving around faster than Cal had ever seen and crowds of people rushing somewhere as if their lives depended on it. And in all of that, the redheaded chatty princess decided to tempt her fate and stepped onto the road. Kasandra’s voice cut through the air and Cal narrowed her eyes to see what was going on when she blinked and suddenly, Britta was sitting on the ground, Lewis standing close to her. What just happened? This was just another thing Cal hated. Not knowing what was going on.

And just to put a proverbial cherry on top of this crazy milkshake of events, it was the reckless redhead who decided that she had voices in her head and that they should follow her. Cal closed her eyes and squeezed the root of her nose between the thumb and index finger, trying to stay calm. Seriously? Voices in her head? God knew she was trying and that she was trying hard this whole time in Auradon. Back on the Isle, she would be already calling the girl insane and advising her to get an appointment to examine her head. But for the sake of this whole quest, Callista decided to bite her tongue and try to be nice. And yet, this was the first trial of her determination. It was unbelievable and the young self-proclaimed pirate queen was only pleased to see that she was not alone in her disbelief. And for the first time ever, she actually agreed with the blonde obnoxious being, pleading to Britta not to get run over.

Cal was just trying to assess the whole situation when a shadow moved closer and looking up, her eyes met with Beckett’s who was asking if she thought this was a set up. Cal’s hand shot up and gripped his shirt as their backs were turned to everyone else. She pulled Beckett closer to her, her face an embodiment of thought. “It could very well be that, we should keep a close eye on them. One can never know.” she growled quietly and let go of Beckett, putting her usual smile on her face. If the redheaded chatterbox was going to get them to the artifact for real, Cal would take it. God knew if that was true and Cal even suspected that voices in Britta’s head were not something unusual but she would bite. For now. And as Antony called upon them all to go, Cal started walking in whichever way Britta pointed. “Mark my words, this won’t end well. We should be careful around then.” she muttered, adjusting her backpack on her shoulder. “We should not trust them too much.”

Rhys Rider

How you doin'?
Name's Rhys.

Young Rhys was used to being called a clown and honestly, he had built his reputation on that exactly. And while he was not the brightest tool in the shed, he was far from stupid. However, it was easier to joke around and make sure no one really knew he actually had some brains and not just an empty head than let everyone know. It might include having to work even more than he wanted and no extra work was worth it. God forbid that he would have to do more than it was absolutely necessary. The fact that he was already on this quest was more than he signed up for when going to Auradon Prep. But apparently, there was a reason why he was here since the council decided to send him here.

Many things did not surprise young Rider, simply because he was used to being that surprising element himself. It was usually him who caused people drop their jaws. So when he was suddenly taken away from Auradon and brought to a land he had no idea about, it certainly was a big deal because it had even Rhys taken aback. Yet a few seconds after realizing he was in a new land, he was back to his old self and already joking. Apparently, his comment on him being there only for entertainment did not go well with the VKs. Not that he minded. Their comments didn’t even reach his ears because he was already focused on the surroundings, trying to learn about the place a little bit.

It was the loud honking and screeching of breaks that brought his attention to Britta and when he saw the redheaded cutie walking in the way of an approaching vehicle, Rhys was ready to jump in and save her. Yet when his legs touched the ground again, Britta was sitting on the ground, looking puzzled, and there was a brooding VK kid standing close to her. Kass ran to examine Britta and check whether she was not injured but soon after, they all were back to trying to figure out what their plan was going to be. Rhys noticed Cal and Beckett huddled too close to each other, their backs turned to the rest of the group and he felt that weird crawling on his skin as if a dozen of ants marched down his arms. But Rhys then decided to throw the feeling away. After all, they were supposed to work together, not even VKs would plot some shenanigans at this point. Or would they?

Britta started to talk about how she knew where to go and that they should follow some voices in her head which did not sit exactly right with Rhys, simply because it was way too abstract for him to grasp but since it was Britta, he decided to trust her on this. Since he already saw a few grimaces around in the group, he decided to be the support guy her and walked to Britta, taking her hand, lacing their fingers together. “Here, got you. So you won’t wander away from the group again.” he winked and her and though she was still the one to lead, Rhys held her hand the whole time, determined to have her back. After all, he was the prince and he should behave accordingly, right? His mom would be proud, wouldn’t she? “So, Britta, sweetness, what’s the first stop?” he asked, smiling at her sweetly, wondering if they could also make a small pit stop. He needed to refill his snack pocket.

Britta

Britta's heart was racing as Kass ran over and checked her for injuries. She heard herself reflexively say that she was fine, no harm done, but that wasn't completely the truth. Her near run in with death left Britta shaken, the adrenaline pumping through her being the only thing preventing her from crying or going into shock. Sure, her parents and aunt, and most heroes for that matter, all had near death experiences and seemed to bounce back from them as quickly as they happened... but maybe Britta wasn't as brave as them. Because she was rattled, whether she'd admit it or not.

Doing her best to focus on the task at hand to distract her, Britta picked herself up off of the ground and rejoined the others as they discussed what they were supposed to do for this mission. Her attempts to keep a low profile after her incident with the car were quickly thwarted when she ended up being the only person with any leads. At least, she hoped the voice she was hearing was a lead. Otherwise it was pretty coincidental that the moment she arrived in a new land she started hearing a voice. Sure, she'd talk to herself sometimes back home, but this was a completely different matter.

The redhead immediately regretted mentioning she was hearing a voice though, just like she'd immediately regretted stepping into the street. Only this time it wasn't a car that was crushing her, but rather the dubious looks and disbelief of the rest of the group that they'd have to follow her lead. Britta's cheeks flushed in embarrassment upon hearing Ari's comment about following voices in her head and Tony's groan about her having a mental break was just about the nail in the coffin for the princess.

"Well, hearing voices kinda runs in the family. Aunt Elsa saved the kingdom by following a voice she heard, and no one else has any better ideas, so it's at least worth a shot." Britta replied, trying to sound more confident than she was.

The group eventually came around to the idea of having no choice but to follow the redhead though. While they agreed to letting the voices guide them, the group also made sure to remind Britta to not get hit by a car and to pay better attention. Easy for them to say though, they weren't dealing with hearing distractingly strange singing.

Luckily, Rhys came to the rescue, showing support rather than skepticism, and even if he didn't truly believe what he said, Britta appreciated the gesture. Offering the prince a grateful smile, Britta gave his hand a small squeeze when he laced his fingers with hers. A few minutes ago, Britta would have been giddy over Rhys holding her hand, but now, she was so overwhelmed that his offer to hold onto her so she didn't get into any more trouble actually seemed appropriately functional rather than anything blush-worthy. If she was going to require a babysitter, at least Rhys would be the nicest about it.

Holding her chin up a little, Britta tried to channel her typically confident nature as she prepared to head off. Though Antony's annoyed tone when he said Let's go made her wince a little. Glancing at Kass for a moment, Britta nodded in response to her friend’s comment about being more aware of her surroundings.

Speaking of which... Britta looked around trying to figure out where they should even be going when Rhys asked her where their first stop would be. Her blue eyes scanned the area, before an idea occurred to her that caused her to light up. Glancing over at Rhys she returned his smile, relieved to have formulated some kind of plan.

"I can't really make out where the voice is coming from with all the street noise..." Britta explained, starting to make her way down the sidewalk, Rhys in tow and the rest following behind. "But I feel like if I can get away from the city noise, then I'll be able to better pinpoint what direction the singing is coming from." She continued, pointing at a ferris wheel beyond the market in the distance. "Things should be quieter at the top of that... you guys up for a quick ride?"

Britta glanced over her shoulder back at the group, preparing herself for more questionable looks. "The problem is... What do we do for money? I imagine it isn’t free. Anyone have any tricks up their sleeves?"

Lewis

Kassandra was quick to rush over to check on Britta once Lewis had her safely back on the sidewalk. Part of him almost expected the redhead to have gotten bruised from falling onto the ground, and prepared himself to be blamed for hurting her. Good deeds done by VKs were rarely recognized, and when they were, the recognition was usually overshadowed by having something they did wrong pointed out too. However, when Kass glanced up at him, she simply thanked him instead. Lewis nodded in response, offering the slightest twinge of the corner of his mouth in an attempt to smile, before returning to the rest of the group.

This whole wild goose chase of a mission was already draining to Lewis. The very thought of putting up with not just one, but four students from Auradon was enough to suck the very life out of him. On top of that now, he was even more exhausted from having to use his powers just two minutes into their adventure. This was going to be a very long day... or would it be days? The logistics of this task they were expected to complete were not very clear. What kind of fucking test was this anyways?

Understandably the group wasn't thrilled with the idea of letting the voices in Britta's head call the shots, Lewis included. If one of the Auradon kids was going to lead the charge, he assumed it was going to be Kassandra. She at least seemed like she had a sound head on her shoulders and wasn't as annoying as most hero kids. Instead though, they were stuck trailing after Kass's old roommate. The girl Lewis had always thought to be too whimsical for her own good. Or anyone else's good for that matter.

Lewis noticed Cal and Beckett conversing on the side, and glanced over at Tony. "Think we should be worried?" He asked quietly, raising an eyebrow and nodding in the direction of the two seafaring VKs. "Not that I'm against them unleashing their wrath upon this world... but I was really hoping to knock out finding these items as quickly as possible... and world domination takes time." Lewis added, only half joking.

Britta finally began leading the group to where she believed they should go, which was a ferris wheel of all places. Honestly, knowing the redhead, Lewis didn't know if he was surprised that this would be their first stop or not. And with the group's designated clown beside her, the carnival was practically complete. The matter of money was brought up, and the Princess looked to the others for a solution.

"I'd freeze time again to steal us some tickets or cash..." Lewis began, stifling a yawn for dramatic effect. "But unfortunately I already wast-... used my talents, and can't just go fucking with time every five minutes."

Sure, if he absolutely had to, in a life or death experience, Lewis might be able to freeze time again without waiting to recuperate his energy. But then the rest of the group would have to drag him around once he passed out afterwards. And he was not about to become dead weight or rely on this group for anything. Well... anything except information on what to do next.

Following the voice or voices in Britta's head did not sound like the best plan to Arianna, but at the same time, it was the only lead they had. She knew very little about this world, only from stories and books she'd read, but some of the others seemed to know more than she did which was fine with her. For once. Still, Ari hated not knowing, so she'd put on her bold face like usual. Fake it til you make it, right, mom? Thinking about her mom made her wonder if the woman even knew Ari was gone. Somehow, she doubted it. Refusing to think about her any longer, she followed the others towards the scary looking contraption.

"You want us to go up there?" Arianna craned her neck back to look at the top of the thing, narrowing her eyes. "Can't you go by yourself and just tell us what you find out when you get back?" She looked at Britta and the others, but she could already tell that plan wasn't going to work. Rolling her eyes, she hadn't even stepped towards it when Britta asked about money. "People pay to go all the way up there? What the hell kind of world is this?" Scoffing, Arianna looked around, her eyes landing on a bored looking guy around their age manning the ticket booth.

"We don't need money." Setting her back straight, she didn't even look at anyone before she started towards the booth, putting on her best smile as she reached it. The guy did a double take when he saw her, and even though she knew her hair was probably a mess, she could still work this. "Hey, so... I'm Arianna, and my friends and I were wondering if we could ride your..." She trailed off, realizing she didn't even know what the damn thing was called. "That thing." She nodded towards the ferris wheel, her attention never leaving the guy.

"It's ten dollars, ma'am." He looked at her friends, the wheel, then back at her.

"For each?" Jesus, what a rip off. Frowning, Arianna sighed and leaned against the booth, one of her fingers reaching out to gently brush against his. "We're not from around here, you see. And we've never ridden anything quite like it. We really, really want to. It's almost like a need, you know?" She bit her lip, looking at him through her lashes. He cleared his throat but still didn't look quite convinced, so Ari pouted as she slid her hand over his, wrapping her pinky finger around his. "I can come back, you know. After we get off. We can... talk more." And as though those were the magic words, he produced 8 tickets and gave them to her. She blew him a kiss and took them, before spinning on her heel and heading back to the others. "Well, what are you guys waiting for? Go on."

Beckett didn't like to be played-- he liked to be the one doing the playing. When the VK's had first been invited to Auradon, he'd felt the same way he did now: on edge. Waiting for the other shoe to drop, for the right to suddenly become wrong. Britta wanted them to go to this ferris wheel and ride to the top, so she could hear the voices better in her mind. What the fuck was that? Beckett wasn't going to let his guard down for anything, so if the Auradon kids were playing some kind of twisted game then he was determined to be ready. And apparently, Cal felt the same way.

He smirked when she grabbed his shirt and pulled him closer, his eyes traveling over her face and lips just because they were there. But before he could make a smartass comment, she spoke, reminding him of the seriousness of the situation. "Agreed." He grinned and she let him go, and he heard Antony's voice saying they should go. He followed, coming in towards the end of the group. Thankfully they reached the ferris wheel without anyone getting injured or putting themselves in danger, though he did quirk a brow at Rhys as he took Britta's hand, nudging Cal and nodding towards it.

When Britta brought up the topic of money, Beckett frowned. He didn't have an answer for that one, but probably the most surprising one in the group came up with a solution. Beckett turned his head towards Arianna as she started towards the ticket booth, stating they didn't need money. "What the hell is she going to do?" He tilted his head, then burst out laughing as he saw her lean against the booth, the guy behind it jerking upright as she did so. "Well well well, looks like blondie is good for something after all." He crossed his arms as he watched the scene unfold.

Sure enough, she returned a few moments later with eight tickets for them. "After you, princess." He smirked in her direction, and the eight of them started towards the line. When they reached the front, they had to split into two groups. He got into a car with Rhys (joy), Cal (sweet), and Kass (well, hello). Lewis, Ari, Antony and Britta got into the next one, and then they were rising from the ground, able to see the scenery all around them. Damn. That was some view. Looking at the other car, he yelled to Britta. "You hear the voices yet?" Grinning, he settled back in his seat, looking at the others in his car. "What a time to get acquainted. High off the ground, inches away from death." He nodded towards the flimsy door holding them in, lacing his fingers together and placing them behind his head.
