Other Depressing things to think on

That's the dumbest fucking shit I've ever heard. I'm getting really sick of that stupid meme.

Stephen Hawking said it himself. If you think about it, it's unnerving. If they have the technology to arrive on earth they have the ability to overcome anything and everything we throw at them. Not to mention all the possible disease they'll bring that we'll have no natural immunity to. Remember all the Native Americans that died due to smallpox and such?

Stepehen Hawking is smart and all but it's still just a stupid fucking meme. If they have the technology to arrive on earth, they have the technology to easily get around their solar system, and manipulate it to their own ends. Why the fuck would you go to another solar system when you can reforge your own in your own image? If you can expend the energy to get a big invasion fleet (or just one really big rock) to another solar system, you got the energy to start out mining every asteroid in your solar system, and then you got the energy to render the planetary bodies into easily useable minerals, then you got the energy cover your birth star in a dyson swarm, build a matrioshka brain, whatever the fuck you want to do. And even before then you'd have the energy to build colony ships or whatever to do the same in the stars surrounding your star, which could follow the same path as your own culture.

Why the hell would such a culture say "Hey, y'know those apes on sol 3? Let's fuck'm." when they can upload their brains into a hyper-advanced mega-pornography super-duper lovey god game simulation? Or have a giggle making a star-sized effigy of their equivalent of a penis? Or make some art using stellar nebula as a canvas?

Also it's fucking stupid to assume their diseases would totally infect us with no engineering required. It'd take some genetic engineering or something for some octopus disease to affect us, how the fuck would Giglanganjurian smallpox make the jump when it's designed to infect silicon creatures with quadruple-strand DNA?

Alien Invasions are fucking stupid, realistically. If you say otherwise you drank the kool-aid.

You, I have said this many times already but I like you. In a perfectly normal and not creepy way.

Only reason I could see for invading us is if we had a rare mineral that doesn't exist anywhere else.
Which we don't.
So you're right.

Rare minerals would also be a stupid reason because if you can design and build a ship that can go across the galaxy and be expected to be able to come back (Which implies you have a fucking great industry compared to what we have here on earth), you can probably figure out a way to artificially synthesize that material, or even make a better alternative on your own terms.

Unless they can't because they don't have it in the first place.
But again, other than that, I can't see anything wrong with your reasoning in the least.

If they don't have it, they probably don't know about it. If they don't know about it, going across the galaxy would be a snipe hunt that they don't even know exists.

Why would they invade then? :p

Like how we scan for things, and we discovered a planet that is a giant diamond.
They could scan our planet and find element Xygconecyxtc due to the radiation it's letting out.
But since they don't know the exact details of its construction, they can't duplicate it.

Even then, what fucking properties would this element have to have to justify a, I dunno, anywhere from 4 LY to 100,000 light-year trip?

is ANY hypothetical mega-material worth anywhere from 8 years-200,000 years, minimum, to wait for?

Ur kidding rite
They have super hyper warp, silly. They can be there in a matter of hours.
