The plot (in a nutshell) is that the world's storages of coal, oil and gas have depleted. Since green technology hasn't been properly developed at the time, governments and companies began to search for a new resource. The G.P.C.M.R. discovered what is known as "Beltrock" crystals, where some crystals are able to release a large amount of electrical energy. However, these crystals are protected by "Shaft Dwellers" - a golem-like creature that will do anything to protect their "life source". And that's where we start off, as Miners working for a company who is willing to do anything to make profits.

This looks interesting! I've been looking to get back into roleplaying, so I'll probably make a character sheet.

Joseph stood uneasily upon the platform of the colossal mechanical lift. He held his drill tightly upon his shoulder as he scanned his environment. He noticed a number of Mechatronic Suits and a few dozen miners. There was clearly more to come, else they would have been descending by now.

The blaring heat pummelled Mortar. His jumpsuit stuck to his back, offering an uncomfortable irritation. The closest freight elevator was located in Turkey, a distance from home.

Although Joseph was yet to be deployed in the mines, his protective gear and ME-X1 were heavily customised with a series of paints and totems. Obviously, the G.C.P. cared not for what their miners did to their equipment.

Joseph noticed a transport jet - teeming with rookies just like himself - heading towards the landing zone. As it descended, Mortar was struck by a fresh breeze.

Ben stood amongst the crowd of fellow miners aboard the descending jet. He had his tools on standby. As soon as the jet hit land, Ben jolted forwards and knocked into the lad standing in front of him.

The ramp to the jet slowly began to lay itself upon the hardened crust of Turkey. "So this is what the Turks call home?" He uttered. He soon began to march down the ramp, alongside his comrades. The group of men soon began to join up with those on the lift.

Jette was standing among the crowd of miners as the jet descended. Thank god I was never a claustrophobe, he thought to himself as he adjusted his darkened goggles. He was looking for the most comfortable (or least bothersome) way to hold his equipment when the jet suddenly landed, and somebody knocked into him from behind. "Watch it!", he exclaimed. They were finally in Turkey.

Like the others, Jette proceeded to the nearby lift. Even if most of the miners looked (and probably were) much stronger than him, Jette was still excited.

Joseph soon began to count the number of miners present on the elevator. What went from a few dozen must have gone to a couple hundred, at least. The Sun made looking at the ground unbearable. Mortar simply just flipped down his flash-proof visor to block it out.

Before a number of minutes, someone that appeared to be a corporate official of some kind came strutting across a platform. "Oh, dandy. I guess we get to introduce ourselves?" He sarcastically remarked. The official appeared bloated compared to the miners, with a perfect, white set of teeth. Whilst toothpaste nowadays did improve the appearance of teeth with its whitening ingredients, this was a painful kind of white.

"Greetings, miners!" The fellow stated. It was clear he was trying to gain the attention of his subordinates, but did so in such a poor fashion. "As we now, our planet is in a miserable state. That is why we have selected you as our employees!" He exclaimed, trying to make the miners feel a sense of false worth. "And it is my honour to pre-" Before the sap could even finish, the elevator soon began to descend. It's fixed timing mechanism didn't wait for speeches.

"How was that for an introduction?"

Ben began to bob above the large crowd of working class mugs. There was a mixture of nationalities presented beforehand, ranging from the Chinese to the Mexicans. Surprisingly, seeing folk of different backgrounds amongst the work force was no news to Ben.

With a single stride, Ben whipped out a cheap cigarette from an already-open pocket placed in his pocket. He pulled out a zippo lighter and began to set the end of the I'm uncultured ablaze (sort of).

Jette stifled a laugh when the lift descended. That poor jerk must've spent at least an hour memorizing that spiel of his, just to have everyone leave in the middle of it! Not that he felt bad for the guy, mind you. If anything, the rich man just saved some precious time that could be spent playing badminton, or something stupid like that.

Suddenly, Jette was assaulted by the unmistakeable smell of cigarette smoke. Some people just had no common sense, smoking on a crowded lift. Maybe the perpetrator would pay for it later, one could hope.

Even after about 15 minutes, the lift continued to descend. Jo examined the miner with a cheap brand of cigarette locked between his lips. The miners were mostly comprised of men, with a selection of women into the mix.

Jo held his drill as if it were a chain gun. He began to think about when they G.P.C. would hurry it up with their 'Auto Cannon' ME-X1 addons.

After another agonising 5 minutes, the lift came to a halt. The miners soon began to pile out of the lift. A supervisor was pointing in a direction in which the couple hundred would go in. After reaching that certain point, the miners were halved and halved again, into much smaller groups by the supervisors. Jo was placed in the third row along 49 others. The most notable ones was a man who appeared to have an attitude, and a rather weedy lad with tinted goggles bandaged around his face.

A number of minutes later, one of the leading officials came up to the group, stating "This will be your new family now."

The long ride down for Ben bothered him not one bit. He still managed to fall in with the rest of the miners he had been stuck.

After hearing the news about his new "family", Ben then decidedly to cleverly return with "So, if one of us screws another, would that been considered incest now?" A chuckle was emitted from the crowd, but the supervisor was hardly impressed.

Jette could already tell that he wasn't going to like the Englishman (judging by his accent) at all. "If by 'screwing', you mean 'drilling into', then it probably wouldn't.", he quietly muttered, his annoyance at the smart-ass question palpable.

On the bright side (heh), it was dim enough that Jette could take off his goggles. They were feeling a bit tight around his head anyway, so he took them off for a brief moment, just to adjust them.

The Supervisor had pointed the 50 man group towards a a small station. This was still part of the 'processing' procedures, in which a group of miners would be assigned to their working stations for the rest of their mining career.

As Jo placed the entirety of his right arm on what appeared to be a sowing machine, a duo of metallic locks held his arm in place. Although Jo couldn't see the process occurring, he knew what was going on. When the locks released their hardened grip from his arm, he noticed a badge sewn onto his right sleeve. Upon was a pair of pick axes - fashioned like a Jolly Rodger - with the words "Cavern Hotel - Section 2-5" embedded just beneath.

Those who who had finished with processing were directed to what appeared to be a train. It accompanied a drill situated onto the very end, with a plough hiding beneath it. Behind the mutilated beast were a dozen carts with chairs placed within, followed by a dozen cargo containers. Looked like this train was heading to C-Hotel.

After Benny Boy had seated himself in one of the chairs, he could catch a whiff of cheap whiskey. A couple scans of the interior and he noticed one of the boys brough some of their booze along. As Ben always says, "Never leave home without it".

After finishing up the processing part and becoming a company product, it was now time for Ben to board the midnight train. Unfortunately, there was nothing midnight about it, since it was just only 2 o'clock. Then again, the cheap Rolex knockoff could simply be broken.

Jette didn't really mind the processing, although the "locking your arm in place" part was a little overkill in his opinion. As soon as it was over, he made his way to the train.

Once inside, Jette briefly put down his equipment. His arm was getting tired, and he needed to adjust his goggles again, anyways. "I swear, something is wrong with these things." He uttered to himself as he readjusted them.

Jo glared over to that Miner sat next to him. He placed his helmet upon his lap, the sweat ran down onto his jumpsuit. He held his helmet up to his head. A finger of his signalled the flash-proof visor located just above the brow. A cough was used to acquire the attention of the fellow rookie. "The visor might be a bit better." Jo had noted.

Sweat was still rich upon Mortar's back. Even with the top layer of his jumpsuit folded into a compact position about his waist, the lack of air conditioning didn't help a bit.

The carriage jolted, and Jo head-butted the Miner on his right on the cheek. "Damn trains.." Were the words that left his breathe.

Ben winced. However, the distraction of a fine, cheap cigarette was enough to keep his attention away from the forming bruise on his left cheek. He placed his "Rocky Junior" by his feet to free his arms.

He stuck his feet out, with arms folded. He glared over at one of the few female Miners around. "A rare sight, I'd say." The same Miner gave him a middle finger, to which he gladly returned with two. He chuckled lightly.

The chair he had placed himself upon was questionably hot, stirring up an unwelcomed itch. He continued to focus his attention on his cigarette.

"Yeah, I'll probably end up using a visor, eventually." Jette replied to the miner sitting next to him, "Thing is, though, I actually need these goggles for medical purposes. Name's Jette, by the way."

He tried to ignore the sweltering heat of the train, which only seemed to be magnified by the number of people in the carriage. Said carriage must have hit a bump because without warning, it jolted, causing the other miner to headbutt somebody in the cheek.

"Jette?" He replied, ignoring the fact he just bruised the Miner next to him. "Name's Jo, short for Joseph." The uncomfortable heat of the chair made Jo swivel a bit, trying to shake off an oncoming itch. "Y'Know, you're quite boney for a Miner." He declared to Jette.

After a 10 minute ride, the train jolted again. Luckily, Jo managed to prevent himself mangling the cheek of the Miner next to him. Jo began to focus his vision towards one of the windows built into the carriage wall. He thought he could make out a pair of yellow, catlike eyes. All of a sudden, a fist formed of rock punched through the single layer of glass. A number of Miners jumped up, Joseph alike. He picked up his ME-X1, holding it in the position of a Gatling gun.

Just a matter of seconds after the glass was smashed, several Shaft Dwellers had burst into the carriage.

Ben Bo replicated the swivelling movements of the man seated next to him. His jumpsuit began to stick to his chest from the sheer heat. He chuckled slightly when the Miner named 'Jo' called the other lad honey.

When the train had jolted, Benny may have accidentally hit the lass next to him in the cheek. The situation became rather awkward. He hadn't noticed the feline pair of eyes gaping through the window. Only had he noticed after the glass was smashed.

Soon after the Stoners jumped, Ben whipped Rocky Junior into his arms.

Jette didn't reply to Jo's comment about him being boney. So what if he wasn't very muscular? If anything, time and work would change that! At least Jo didn't seem to be too bad, otherwise.

When the train jolted again, Jette wasn't surprised at first, until the glass was smashed by a rocky fist. As soon as he saw the yellow eyes, he scrambled to pick up his weapon.

Azure had just wanted a job. She didn't want to deal with the bullshit of big corporations, but here she was pistol in holster, grenades at her hip, and an short fuse just waiting to be lit. She glanced around the train, feeling the testosterone in the air. Azure sighed, cracked her neck, and tied her frizzy brown hair in a ponytail that rested at the base of her head. There were too many bodies and it was too hot. As if the universe felt her misfortune, it decided to add insult to injury. Dwellers jumped the cart.

Azure reached for her pistol firing twice, the first missed, but the second landed in it's shoulder and among the chaos, she could make out an inhuman screech. "That's one way to do it I 'spose." She grimaced at the pain in her shoulder from the kickback. Good lot the weapons training was serving her.

With a quick flick if a finger, a red, dim and rather menacing light took form at the end of what seemed like a barrel. Jo proceeded to charge the beasts' ground. A gauntlet of stone could be noticed attempting to flank his position. Raising his drill in front of his face was his reaction, the force knocking him down. Joseph noticed the drill remained in good condition somehow, as if it was defying logic. What appeared to be a foot made its way to trample his person. Joseph picked himself, dashed forwards and removed a leg from its stump, leaving molten rock and tissue in between.

Orlando had arrived to the job site a little bit earlier than most and had been nursing a hangover from the night before. With that in mind, he had taken a spot in the train before collapsing into a hangover induced sleep after munching on some bread he had stashed in his suit. If anything had been learned from previous hangovers, bread was a good hangover reducer, but time was the best.

Suddenly, Orlando was jolted awake via a jolting in the train ride, "what the-?" Turning to look at the source of the jolt, several creatures had formed up outside the windows of the train. ~Crap, they're gonna break in~ Orlando thought, he stood up with a headache, although lessened from the nap he had taken and watched as the stone people had busted through the glass and were attacking him and his fellow miners. Explosives were out of the question here, they would hurt his fellow passengers more so than the stone men from the looks of things. So his only option was to rely on his pistol, still a valuable weapon for removing these "obstacles." Quickly drawing his pistol with his left hand he shot off several bursts of auto pistol fire at one of the creatures as his combat training kicked in. His left arm acted as a stabilizer so he had decided to lead with it rather than his human right arm. Like shooting a target at a range, several shots hit their target dead center in one creature's face causing it to wail an inhuman cry as it moved to cover its' face with its' hands, but the damage had been done.
