Robāto was walking home from school the moment when he heard that Light died. He didn't know when it happened, but when he heard that the police had his body, and that it was none other than Light Yagami... confirming Robāto's suspicions, he nearly committed suicide. One day, after school, he was sulking on his way home, when he heard a thud. It pulled him out of his stupor long enough to walk over and see what it was. A notebook. On the cover was written Desunōto which, translated to English, is Death Note. Robāto was overcome with wonder, was this a joke, or was he given the same tool as Light?!?! He decided he would wait to see. He and his mom were watching the news that night. There was a convict, accused of murder, rape, and theft, who was also caught that day. As Robāto was doing his homework, he took out his death note, and scribbled the convict's name. He would see in he morning if this was real.

Fuyuki was walking home when he got a phone call from a detective agency asking if he would work for him, they offered a large sum of money and even offered to fund his travels. Fuyuki just replied with 'I'll think about it' He didn't care about the money he just wanted a break from school life, but it seemed his top marks and his online skills coaxed companies to offer him interesting jobs, this was the third one this day. He got home and talked to his father about it, his father told him about Kira and that people like him shouldn't exist, he didn't care for his father's speeches. He went to bed early that night, to think over the phone call.

In the morning, Robāto jumped up to see if the convict had died, when he turned on his computer, and went to a news website, the first thing was that the convict had, in fact, died of a heart attack. His heart skipped a beat, I.. I have a death note.. a real.. proper death note... This... This is amazing! Instantly, he looked up criminals in all parts of the globe, and wrote as many as he could before he had to go to school, he didn't even notice the rules written on the front onside cover

When Fuyuki awoke in the morning he turned on the TV and noticed criminals were dropping like flies, he got an urgent call from the detective agency asking for him to join with an increased pay, he accepted. 'Kira has returned, it seems to have everyone startled and in a panic' He thought to himself. He called the school and said he would be taking a leave of absence for some time.
