Mr. Zero, Metropolis, Star Labs

"Hmm. Wait a moment. Perhaps you are right on that regard," said Victor, gesturing with his hand to stop what they were doing, for a moment. Appearing to be in-thought, but in truth he was thinking over what Batman had just sent him. The plus side of wearing a helmet that looked like he had a bucket on his head, was that he could receive both information inside his helmet without others being none the wise outside.

"Correct. If something went wrong, we could end up with Metropolis without any data network at all. My mistake...I hadn't factored that in...give me a second to think this..." replied Victor, as he soon got an even better idea - that would be even less brutal than what he had. Namely he got the idea by looking outside at the Daily Planet globe. Then he pointed there. "That. News. They carry small dishes on their vans and could be easily hijacked for our investigation. We could run a small test with a few of them," he replied, soon starting to look up the frequency that the Daily Planet had registered for its news network.

Soon enough, he shared the frequency with the others. "The Daily Planet planned on reporting on several kidnapping locations anyway - so, if we inserted the jammer program. Per say have it run in 0.1 second intervals - then none of them would notice the difference. While their vans move around the city, we could have the satellite keep scanning around the city..." he explained - it would work better than what even Batman had suggested. Since he had only one car for his work - while the Daily Planet had half a dozen, running around and scanning the city.

"The worst that could happen - is today' news will be experiencing some lag and perhaps some technical difficulty," replied Victor. It was less brutal than his satellite idea, and it didn't run the risk of the entire city suddenly going dark or infected. For this to work though, everybody needed to follow a 'van' - Victor for his own sake took the frequency of Batman' car. As he was certain, that Batman wouldn't want himself ousted of having proposed this idea. The Dark Knight made enough governmental organizations paranoid for his taste.

"Alright then...you alien, show me where you are hiding..." he commented.

Supergirl
STAR labs

Claire didn't care for the fact they apparently could scan her and know who she was without having to look at her but this was a good sign that STAR labs was working on this alien issue. Still it also meant that they couldn't realize that alien standing basically right next to her was here which would give them all they needed to know in her mind as to why she was here. Well whatever at least the building wasn't about to blow up because of all the computer issues.

" I'm here about the mysterious signals, i have someone who might be able to decode them" Claire said to the camera.

Batman, Batmobile, Metropolis
As Victor continued his work at Star labs, Bruce would activate the Batmobile's remote scanner. As the car roared it's way deeper into the city, it would relay information back to Mr Zero, while being combined with the information being received from the Daily Planet's news vans. Bruce appreciated that Victor didn't reveal the Batman's involvement in this plan; he knew full well that the higher ups at Star would have a field day with the Batmobile's transmitter codes. No, Victor knew better.

S.T.A.R. Labs, Metropolis
The holographic map of the city was riddled with the pulsating signals from both the Batmobile and the Daily Planet satellite dishes. Victor would quickly discover that the Batmobile's more advanced scanner actually served to amplify the range of the news vans, as well as give off a signal of it's own. As Victor had theorized, this method had indeed worked perfectly in isolating the foreign signal, removing the vast majority of the background static. The strongest source of the signal in Metropolis now emanated from underground, throughout the city's sewer systems, originating in one concentrated point deep below the city itself.

The person on the other end of the line listened to what Supergirl had to say, and was clearly suspicious with her 'traveling companion'. A loud alert sensor was triggered, illuminating the green lantern in a similar red light.

Mr. Zero, Metropolis, Star Labs

"Huh. Somebody has been updating their software - or either takes his job too seriously," he humored - indicating at the Batmobile and shrugging it off for the others as a simple better equipped news van. Even in the Private Sector, people liked to play favorite with some than others. As he soon started speaking out the information - appearing to debate with another researcher. While allowing Batman to 'listen' in to the situation - as he described it, in mediocre detail.

"Okay...nothing in the skies...skyscrapers. Nothing in the park...there goes my wet-dream....and. In the sewers? How unoriginal," he groaned - tracing his finger down to the location. Getting it down and down and down. "Huh. How deep does the Metropolis sewer system go?"

As the signal kept going down - he eventually started typing out the location and pulling up old newspaper clippings from several hundred years ago. Reading them out, for both of the researchers to hear, and Batman as well - so he knew where to check-up his own information and get a fix, on where he would need to search. "Okay. 1899. Lutherfords' plan of underground railway in Metropolis....yadda....yadda....yadda. Collapsed in on itself. So on, so on."

"Huh. Interesting," he stated, pulling the image of the underground station to the screen. Pointing out some details to the Head Researcher. "Look. Most of its very deep underground, but the schematics point - that there should be an old elevator system, that used to run down into the location. Although it was sealed up in 1902. But...I guess that is one place, where you might want to hide yourself..."

"Now-"

"UNIDENTIFIED EXTRATERRESTRIAL LIFEFORM DETECTED..."

"Well....shit....that is not good, is it?" he asked, the blaring sensor loud enough to echo through his helmet and into the Batmobile' comm itself. "Are we expecting any visitors?"

Zatara whipped onto his back with magical reflexes. He knew another fireball would be too much for his body, but he saw the sword within the suited man's grasp, and summoned it to him with a "Em ot!" It flew out of the Question's hand with extreme speed and into Zatara's, just in time to deflect a slash from the creature. Out of the corner of his eye, Zatara spotted the Phantom Stranger, someone Xanadu warned him about long ago, as a powerful and steadfast disciple of the Presence, if the Presence was even real. He hated to ask for help from anyone, but he was exhausted and on the brink of death. He reached out a free hand in the direction of the Stranger, speaking "A little help would be appreciated, here!"

Claire sighed and rolled her eyes at all this suspicion and how long it was taking. " Listen buddy you can drop the security if i wanted i could be in there but i am being nice so open up" She demanded and to show she was not joking around Claire reached out and grabbed the steel door pushing her fingers into it and tearing out a chunk. Claire didn't like doing stuff like this but sometimes it was needed and right now they were wasting time playing nice.

The Question

Vic looked at his pipe, and to his surprise watched as it was a sword. This would help out with the situation. But before Vic could use the sword on the creature it was taken away by the man in the suit.

Vic sighwd in frustration and looked at the other man. Vic noticed this man was in a robe and a hat. He didn't seem too powerful, so all Vic could do was watch as the man in the suit and the creature fight it out.

Blur Beetle

As Ted drove towards the street where thr aliens were, he saw a few crowd of ciivilians still staying, waiting for any sign of a battle. All Ted would do is sigh. He looked around for any signs if damage but didn't see anything.

But Ted needed to find out where Supergirl and the red alien had went off. Ted decided to drive further. He drove around Metropolis, and he passed STAR labs.

He looked to the side and swore he could see Supergirl and the alien near the door to STAR labs. Ted stopped the car and looked more in that area. He didn't see anything. Ted sighed and looked for the bag he had brought with.

He grabbed the goggles when he found the bag and put them on. He was able to zoom in on STAR labs. He didn't want to go in the lab though. That would only cause more trouble.

If anything did happen, Ted would go in. But for now he would watch them.

THAAL SINESTRO
S.T.A.R. Labs, Exterior, Metropolis

"Identity confirmed; Supergirl. State your business."

Sinestro noticed that the speaker identified the Kryptonian as 'Supergirl.' He never asked her what she called herself, but truthfully he just hadn't cared. However, hearing this moniker aloud made him wonder if she chose this title or if it was chosen for her. There was something unmistakably banal in its brand of reverent simplicity. It's as if someone just said "Yes, this person is a girl, but she is also 'super.' Therefore: 'Supergirl.'"

---

A little later, Sinestro watched as Supergirl tore a chunk off the door and demanded to be let in. A small, surprised smile appeared on his face.

"Now now, be gentle with their equipment. You wouldn't want to scare the poor things," he said, in a tone which suggested he was actually a little impressed by this show of force.

The Phantom Stranger.
The Stranger sighed and shook his head. Of course, he needed to directly intervene anyway. That wasn't his plan, but he supposed he would have to. Neither of them looked well-equipped and if he didn't act, one might actually die. That wouldn't be good. He was already responsible for one innocent man's death. Not this time. Maybe one of them were supposed to die. Maybe. But at this point, he couldn't care less if that was the plan. He outstretched a hand forward and a bolt of brilliant blue came out of his palm, a narrow, controlled blast of divine magic, giving an almost friendly glow as it shot forward, attempting to bifurcate the creature. He looked to The Question. Next time he would give him a gun and a sword, that always seemed to work. Next time he wouldn't rely on the magic user not being so worn out too.

Robin
Batmobile; Metropolis

Robin couldn't help but feel a little confused by Batman's long pause before elaborating on the informant, which didn't quite make sense to him. While he knew that the other one didn't always want to tell him everything, information about a simple contact didn't seem like something that would be that dangerous to know... unless Bruce just didn't trust him to keep information even that small. Dick nearly frowned. He had worked hard to prove himself trustworthy and reliable, but maybe that still hadn't been enough. It most likely hadn't been. Then again, he just had to keep trying to be patient. It would take a huge amount of time to earn trust, after all; he had known this from the beginning. He knew it wouldn't be easy, and certainly not always pleasant, yet to him, it was always worth it. He just had to keep going, even if his working relationship with Bruce was tough to develop. He still had to be there to support and help the other one, after all. But how can I really do that if-?

Robin was broken out of his conflicted thoughts by Bruce finally speaking up in response to him. The young sidekick perked up when Bruce actually was willing to share what he seemed hesitant to disclose, immediately feeling both relieved and very curious about the response. He listened intently as Batman told him that the name of the contact was Mr. Zero, which didn't exactly sound like the typical name of a scientist like the boy had been expecting, but his mentor was cut off before he could finish what he was saying. Robin suddenly gave another start when a voice boomed through the speakers of the car, which was quite startling at first, but it only a moment until he realized that it was Mr. Zero who must be speaking. While he did listen to what was being said, he felt slightly distracted by trying to figure out who this man was.

The name 'Mr. Zero' did sound familiar to him, from the times when he had been digging through the case files on the Batcave's computer at one point. He couldn't quite place it though, until he started concentrating on the other man's voice. Something about it struck a chord, and he focused on that. It was very expressive, but at the same time it had a certain chilly ring to it, and an almost robotic inflection. It was enough to sound somewhat human, but not quite human. Robin was puzzled at first, running some possibilities through his head... until one came to him. His masked eyes widened, and he couldn't help but murmur incredulously. "Wait a minute... that's-"

The boy trailed off after a moment, but it was clear enough that he had at least some idea of who the other man was. He couldn't be sure of what he had deduced, of course, but he was fairly sure that the mystery informant was that villain that had been reformed some years back, the man that had been formerly called Mister Freeze. It lined up pretty well, since on the file he had read something about a current moniker different than the previous, which was why 'Mr. Zero' had seemed familiar. Robin wasn't exactly bothered or upset by the idea of a former supervillian being used as a contact at a place such as S.T.A.R. Labs, but he did wonder what the reasoning and the full explanation would have to be. Now was not the time to ask any more questions about the situation however, so he resolved to do so later. He fell quiet as Batman began explaining to their contact where they were, and what to do. Robin listened attentively as the conversation went on, and Mr. Zero went on to scan the area. Once the scanning process actually began, he leaned forward a bit to peer at one of the small screens on the dashboard that indicated how the transmittance from the Batmobile was going, which was apparently quite well.

Soon he listened with great interest as Mr. Zero began elaborating on what location the scanners were indicating as the right location. Apparently the location was somewhere deep underground, which caused the sidekick to grimace. Usually investigating underground spaces really wasn't that pleasant, but at least they had gotten a location pinpointed. This sounded like really good progress, which was rather encouraging to hear. Just as their informant was about to say more however, suddenly a loud alarm blared through the speakers of the Batmobile. Robin flinched in surprise, bewildered by the sudden alert of an extraterrestrial being's presence. "What was that?!" He exclaimed in surprise and concern, since an extraterrestrial being could very well be one of the things responsible for the disappearances. He looked towards Batman, wondering if the other one would have any guesses as to what was going on either. Whatever it was, it certainly didn't sound like it was expected. Robin tensely hoped that whatever it was, it wasn't too dangerous, or at least something that would stay around long enough to be taken down, if it really was one of the beings responsible. If it wasn't... he was befuddled as to what it might be otherwise.

Tunnel, Gotham City

(I assume by "bifurcate", you mean splitting us apart, rather than ripping the creature in half lol. Let me know if I'm off on this.)
The creature's claws clash against the sword, the metallic clanging of claws on steel ring throughout the tunnel. Raising up another of it's sharpened arms, it was prepared to strike down on Zatara yet again, looking to overwhelm the magician. As the elder man spoke up to the mysterious being behind them, the creature responded in kind, looking back and spotting the stranger. It lets out a fearsome screech at the new commer, attempting to frighten him away. Things were already going poorly for the creature with just two combatants, it was not privy to the idea of battling three.

It's attempts to intimidate the stranger were clearly in vain, as it is surrounded by the blue aura and flung against the wall, freeing Zatara. The monstrosity thrashed around violently trying to free itself, though it's efforts were fruitless.

S.T.A.R. Labs, Metropolis
As the alarms continued to blare throughout the building, the researchers desperatley typed away at their computer stations to try and identify the potential alien lifeform. The holographic map in the center of the room switched over to a display of the outdoor security camera, showing Supergirl and a strange, unknown red creature clad in green. An aura of disbelief shook the Star labs workers as the kryptonian effortlessly tore a chunk out of the door. S.T.A.R. labs was ranked up amongst one of the most heavily secured buildings in the United States, it would take nothing less than a concentrated artillery strike to simply 'break in', and yet Supergirl made it look like nothing.

Dozens of heavily armed soldiers began pouring out of the woodwork, heading towards the doors in disciplined strides, their weaponry clearly experimental and above even military grade. Automated turrets sprang to life near the entrance, ready to vaporize anything that would step through the door.

Despite this impressive array of firepower, it was doubtful that they could truly stop the two intruders if they truly wanted inside. Before things could turn ugly, the head scientist presses a button on the panel in front of him, cutting off the alarm and activating the speaker system.

"STAND DOWN DAMMIT!... Stand down I said!" He barks. The soldiers stop their counter attack before it can get underway, and simply stand at the defensive near the entrance. The turrets go to stand by mode, ready to fire if ordered, though they will no longer blast anything in sight.

Taking a moment to gather himself, the head researcher clears his throat and addresses the two aliens outside.

"M-My apologies, Supergirl... We don't normally just let anybody who knocks inside the facility." He needed to choose his words carefully, knowing full well that they wouldn't be able to stop her if she decided to outright ignore them.

"We're willing to cooperate of course, though your... Traveling companion will at the very least need to identify himself." He continues nervously.

Batman, Batmobile, Metropolis
Batman studied Victor's findings with great interest. The signal was originating from deep underneath Metropolis. This was clearly a coordinated effort, utilizing guerrilla tactics. Whoever was behind these efforts very clearly wanted to go unnoticed. Were they preparing for something? What was their end goal? The Dark Knight was determined to find out, and now he knew where to start looking.

Bruce momentarily looked over to Robin as he put the pieces together. He was hardly surprised, Dick had shown promising deductive skills before he even started training. He still had a long way to go, but Bruce was proud of him in a way.

As the alarm sounded, Batman focused his attention back onto the road.

"Mr Zero, are you alright? Is Star under attack? We can divert our course and be there in two minutes."

THAAL SINESTRO
S.T.A.R. Labs, Exterior, Metropolis

Sinestro confidentially sauntered up to the camera with a sly smile; with straightened shoulders and his hands clasped behind his back. He had a thin green aura around him as he levitated about a foot off the ground, appearing to walk on air. Condescendingly, he leaned forward to be eye level with the camera.

"My name is Thaal Sinestro. I am a Green Lantern," he said, gesturing to the symbol on his chest.

"We are an elite army created to police the universe, and I am the greatest of our number. One of our own has gone missing on your world. His last known location was this city. I understand you may have information that will assist me, and that I may be able to assist you with this current crisis of yours. You need only cooperate."

He lowered himself to the ground, and dropped most of the smug posturing to appear more serious. The green aura disappeared.

"In the interests of both your world and the greater good, it would be most economical to... defer to my supervision until the danger has passed. I can assure that with your cooperation, no more harm will come to you or your expensive, metal doors."

He looked straight at Supergirl, hoping she'll back up his words. "After all, we only want to help."

Mr. Zero, Metropolis, Star Labs

"So...we got Supergirl with a basically an inter-galactic cop that looks like a demon and has the name to go for it. Anybody else find this situation weird or is it just me?" asked Victor from the other researchers.

He had mostly heard about this 'Supergirl' from TV. From what he understood, she was a rather hard-hitter when it came to things. Plus, it also meant that Batman might have to go silent - since Supergirl might be one with good enough ears to hear through helmet' internal speakers.

"Let's hope they are friendly at least..." he muttered to himself, adding the declaration to Batman, indicating that they were fine but did get some strange visitors. That required some silence from Batman.

Supergirl
STAR labs

Claire could hear the people and machines moving about through the building and for a moment thought that this was going to go south and she would lose what she wanted, help, but then they realized that against here their men and defenses were nothing. Claire assumed Sinestro would likely have been fine as well, she didn't know what he could so aside from that green aura and flying but if he kept the peace on other more advanced worlds then he had to be able to deal with stuff like this. Still it seemed that STAR labs had seen reason and was willing to open up once Sinestro introduced herself when in truth she had hopped that her coming with him might just let him pass, but well that had been a mistake.

" Yeah he is here because aliens, other aliens might be involved and one of his number has gone silent so yeah you mind opening up?" She said her tone showing she was getting slightly annoyed, not angry just having wished that they could have started working on this sooner.

(Huge post guys, sorry for getting carried away lol. I'll keep it shorter and sweeter in the future.)

Batman, Batmobile, Metropolis
Supergirl? She was at Star labs? Not only that, but she was apparently not alone. This was an unexpected turn of events. Regardless, Bruce was no fool; he cut the feed immediately. Supergirl would likely have no trouble listening in to their conversation if his research about her was correct... His research was rarely ever wrong. He would keep the audio line open in case Victor needed to descretely relay information, though the audio line coming from the Batmobile would be cut off for now.

More so than Supergirl, this newcomer worried the Dark Knight. An 'intergalactic cop that looks like a demon', as Victor put it. He was an unknown, and Batman didn't like unknowns. For now, the duo would steer clear of Star labs, and head towards the signal.

"We're heading to the source of the signal, I don't believe we're needed at Star labs. We need to follow up on this lead before it goes cold." Bruce addressed Robin.

Another feed hailed the Batmobile from back in Gotham, in the Batcave.

"Master Bruce, Master Dick, I have looked over the readings Mr.Zero has deciphered from the Batmobile's scanner. I am sending you the optimal route through the city now." Alfred would speak through the comm.

"Thanks Alfred, we're on our way." Bruce responds simply.

Kicking in the afterburner, the Batmobile roars through the city double time, effortlessly weaving through the little traffic there was along their route. Before too long, the duo would find themselves reaching the very outskirts of the city. It was pretty well deserted around here, save for the odd country folk heading to Smallville.

The Batmobile's fierce and powerful engine begins to go docile, as the vehicle comes to a stop near the edge of a hillside, where the old long abandoned elevator shaft sits as a semi popular tourist attraction; though it was vacant at the current time of day. The elevator shaft led to the long abandoned and forgotten Metropolis underground railway project; shut down in 1902 due to several cave ins, and over one hundred and seventy five worker deaths. There was a long standing rumor among horror junkies and naive teenagers that the place was haunted. It was not ghosts that Bruce was after however; there was something very real down there, and it was responsible for the disappearances of nearly four dozen people from both Metropolis and Gotham over the last three days.

The top doors of the Batmobile peer open, as the Dark Knight steps outside.

"This elevator shaft will lead us to the source of the signal. Keep close, we still don't know exactly what is waiting for us down there." Bruce lectures, before heading towards the shaft. The Batmobile itself would go into lockdown the moment the two vigilante's left.

S.T.A.R. Labs, Metropolis
The damaged door to STAR labs slowly opens as the two aliens would be greeted by dozens of armed soldiers, ready to fire upon them at a moments notice. Claire's superhearing would pick up the soldier's elevated heartbeats; they were obviously terrified of the prospect of actually having to fight the duo, despite their disciplined demeanor. The automated turrets followed the alien's movement, though they did not open fire.

A man of small stature in a lab coat quickly approached Sinestro; he was clearly no soldier.

"Hold still, please..." He stutters meekly.

Holding out his hand, a scanning device attached to his wrist began to collect readings from the supposed 'green lantern'. Everything went smoothly until the scanner tried to get a reading on his ring... The scan failed with a low beep. The man turns back to the head scientist with a confused look.

"The scan uhm... F-failed, sir." The technology in STAR labs was beyond state of the art. Most of the experimental technology housed here delved into theoretical science, and was ahead of the general public by a decade at the very least. However even with the best technology humanity had to offer, this ring far surpassed it. The scanner trying to understand the ring was the equivalent of a caveman trying to understand theoretical physics.

The head scientist merely sighed in annoyance, before waving the man off.

"Yes, yes. I think given the circumstances, we can let them through regardless." The researchers at STAR didn't like to be shown up, and these aliens were giving them a much needed lesson in humility.

The soldiers clear a path for the two to enter, before the head scientist speaks up yet again.

"Now... How can we be of assistance? Specifically, I mean." Super hearing was not required to pick up the frustration in his voice.

Robin
Batmobile; Metropolis

Needless to say, Robin's eyes were wide as Mr. Zero relayed what kind of alien they were exactly dealing with. It turned out to be two aliens, one with an unknown identity, which sounded rather concerning. The boy couldn't help but be surprised and then quite curious about the abrupt arrival of Supergirl, especially when something else with her. Even though they weren't given much information about what the other alien was, Robin's imagination began to run wild with the phrase 'intergalactic cop that looks like a demon'. All sorts of images came to mind right away, even though all of them were a bit exaggerated. He was most interested by the fact that this mysterious alien was described as an 'intergalactic cop', which was both bizarre and intriguing. Could there be other intergalactic policemen that were wandering the galaxy at large? Robin certainly wished he could be at STAR Labs to see whatever was happening unfold, even though their presence there might not help things that much. He kept pondering all of these things though, until Batman spoke up and broke through his thoughts.

The young sidekick turned his head to look towards his mentor as the other one explained that they were going to follow the lead rather than go to the lab. Despite the boy's avid curiosity, he saw the sense in this. The disappearing persons case did take full priority after all, and it sounded like they had a really good lead. Robin nodded in agreement with his partner, speaking up in affirmation. "Agreed." He listened as a communication from Alfred came through, and the quickest route was outlined for them. Dick grinned appreciatively upon hearing this, soon cheerfully chiming in with his own words of thanks. "Yeah, thanks Alfred; you're the best." As the Batmobile winded its way out of the city, Robin allowed himself to once again stare out his car window, at everything that was flying by outside. It was interesting to see glimpses of residential areas as they traveled down the quiet and rather peaceful route, though even those areas appeared to still have rather impressive looking houses. He was enthralled by what he saw, and almost wished that maybe some other time they could visit the city again, and he could get a better view of it.

He watched as the buildings grew scarcer and scarcer as they came to the city outskirts. It was pretty nice to see countryside, which he felt like he very rarely saw. After living in an urban environment for so long, it was just refreshing to see grassy hillsides and sparsely populated areas for a change. Robin sat straight up in his seat as the Batmobile slowly eased to a halt once they reached the abandoned elevator shaft. Once the engine died down to a quiet purr and the doors of the Batmobile opened slightly, Robin jumped out of his side of the vehicle. He took a moment to stretch out his arms and legs after sitting in the car for that amount of time, and then glanced towards Batman as the other one stepped out of the car and started giving instructions. The boy listened attentively, and then nodded gravely once his partner finished. "Got it."

After giving this serious affirmation, he started heading to the shaft beside his mentor. Once getting close to it, he paused for a moment, one hand poised near the grappling hook attached to his belt in case the way to get down the shaft just wasn't safe, if there even was a way anymore. Robin let Batman get a look down there first if he liked, before creeping forward to peek down into the dark depths of the shaft himself. The place was a little eerie, which made it a pretty fitting place for whatever was hiding down there.

Robin kept a hand near his belt and reached to grab a flashlight as he gazed downward. Once having unattached the flashlight from his belt, he flicked the switch on it so that the beam came on, though he made sure to keep the power low. He flashed the beam only a little ways down the elevator shaft, to try to see where it would be safest to start climbing. He was careful not to shine the beam very far down, for the last thing he wanted to do was to alert whatever might be down there. He glimpsed a frayed rope, which seemed to be about as weak and fragile as a few simple threads. Otherwise there seemed to be a couple usable footholds in the dilapidated walls. After inspecting the top part of the shaft the best he could, Robin switched off the flashlight and placed it back into a compartment on his belt, speaking up with a rueful assessment of the situation as he did so. "Looks like it's gonna be a pretty long climb down."

THAAL SINESTRO
S.T.A.R. Labs, Metropolis

Sinestro put a firm hand on the head researcher's right shoulder and walked him deeper into the lab, subtly exerting his authority. He expected that Supergirl would be walking behind them.

"Firstly, every weapon currently trained on me or 'Supergirl' must be diverted immediately. The illusion that you could stand against us weakens you, and this pretense that your little guns are any kind of threat insults us."

He glanced over at the soldiers for a moment. "And frankly, my jurisdiction supersedes yours. I outrank you, and you will regard me as your superior officer until I say otherwise. I retain the freedom to mobilize you to complete smaller tasks in this city if I see fit to do so."

Before Sinestro began his next point, they had found themselves in a room with more researchers. Sinestro noticed a man in some strange armor (Mr. Zero), but did not comment on him.

"Secondly," he began, addressing the head researcher once more. "We will be given complete access to your data and theories thus far concerning the disappearances and related phenomena. We will know if you hold anything back. Remember, it's very rude to lie." He looked the head researcher dead in the eyes when he said that last sentence.

"So," he said, taking his hand off the head researcher's shoulder, looking around the room, and suddenly assuming a friendlier demeanor. "Show me what you have so far."

The Question

Vic watched as the creature got pinned against the wall. Vic starred walking closer to the creature. It doesn't seem lie it would surrender. The men who were able to defeat the creature would need to put it somewhere. Vic thought.

As he walked even more, he went up to the man in the suit. "Who are you?" Vic asked, curious. Vic had a feeling he has seen this man before. Maybe somewhere on television or something. Vic then looked back at the creature.

Blue Beetle

Ted waited and watched as the aliens walked into the building. Ted decided he needed to get his way into the lab. If something was happening, he couldn't take a chance. He got what he needed out of tbe bag and ealked out of his car.

He would try to slowly go to the lab while also trying to hide so nobody would find him. As his grip on his gun got tighter, he got even more closer to the building.

Supergirl
STAR labs

Claire did follow, but when Sinestro started talking she didn't exactly like what he said, or at least how he said it. She was willing to let them keep their guns on her and worth with them not command them, after all they had come to ask STAR for help. Sinestro might be part of law enforcement, but earth didn't recognize his claim, whoever he worked for had no authority over the citizens of earth. Thus she didn't like him saying he was in charge viewing this as a foreigner more or less bossing around people that weren't under his jurisdiction. She let Sinestro finish his half veiled threats about them keeping anything secret but she really would need to have a word with him about all this.

" They aren't military this is a private facility Sinestro, and earth hasn't recognized your claims so remember anything someone does is not because you order it" Claire said firmly to the other alien she believed in freedom and while if Sinestro had actual authority this would be a different story he right now was not " You are a guest on this world, not let worry get you agitated" She finished assuming he was acting like this because he was worried for his friend.

Batman
Elevator Shaft, Metropolis Outskirts

Batman looked down the elevator shaft with a stern glare, the light from Robin's flashlight illuminating the pitch darkness. To say that it was in poor repair would be the understatement of the century, even for a worksite shut down over one hundred years ago. Bruce had his doubts that it looked much better even when it was still an active worksite; judging by the reports, the multiple cave ins and worker fatalities were due to appalling work conditions, as well as sheer negligence from the overseers of the project. It didn't take a genius to figure out that the elevator was definitely not going to work, and regardless Bruce would not trust it's stability even if it did.

Even if the flashlight was shining at full power, it would likely still be impossible to see the bottom. Glancing over to Dick, Bruce smirks when he mentions climbing down. Now, for anybody who has been around Bruce for any length of time, they would know that a smirk like that meant he was about to do something dangerous.

Without a word, the Dark Knight activated his night vision and jumped into the elevator shaft, disappearing into the darkness in the blink of an eye. His cape trailed behind him, as he freefell down into the deep, gaining more and more speed by the second. The armored plating on his wrist gauntlet parts, as his wrist mounted grappling hook launches skywards, latching onto a sturdy rock in the side of the shaft, slowing down his fall considerably.

As the Batman neared the bottom, he detaches the cord from the grappling hook, utilizing his cape's lightweight flexibility to brace his landing.

Touching the muddy ground below with a surprising amount of grace, Bruce cautiously studies his surroundings. He was in total darkness, it would have been impossible to see around him without his cowl's night vision.

S.T.A.R. Labs
Metropolis

The head researcher was clearly annoyed by the lantern's assertion of authority over him. Despite the alien's words, the soldiers would not simply obey his wishes. Supergirl's own words only served to bolster the man's confidence.

"Now listen here, we are willing to cooperate, but we do not recognize the authority of an extra terrestrial organization, much less take orders from such an organization..." He protests, before taking a deep sigh. By the looks of him, this man had clearly had enough of being pushed around. He gestures to the armored man that Sinestro had gazed at momentarily.

"So if we're done beating our respective chests, I suggest you speak to Mr.Zero. He has been our leading expert on this case, if anybody can point you in the right direction, he would be the one."

THAAL SINESTRO
S.T.A.R. Labs, Metropolis

Sinestro did not turn around to face Supergirl when she criticized him, and when he responded to her he concealed his irritation. "Very well, but I'm not the one who broke their door." He said this nicely, like it was a joke between friends. He controlled his heart rate, as many good Green Lanterns had taught themselves to do.

A few moments earlier Sinestro wondered if Supergirl had the potential to be a long-term ally, but it was now clear her utility was limited. She was useful for now, but for how long? And when would she become a threat? Thaal committed to memory that he would need to research known Kryptonian weaknesses when he next had the chance. He recalled that there was a really straightforward one mentioned in the Oan archives, but he didn't remember what it was.

Next, he listened to the head researcher speak. Sinestro used this time to memorize his face, and the name on his name tag. The face of the first human to defy him.

"I was only joking, or course," said Sinestro. "You musn't take my light teasing so seriously." His words were obviously insincere, but Sinestro didn't care. He pretended to shrug off the whole matter. Peace for now because the situation demanded it, but bones are fragile. They could always be broken later.

"So," said Sinestro with a forced smile and feigned joviality, turning toward the armored man. "Mr. Zero, is it? What can you tell me?"

The Phantom Stranger

The Stranger walked up to the insect, shaking his head, "If you had difficulties with this, I shudder to think what a proper demon might do to you." He held out his hand and brilliant blue lights surrounded the creature and in a flash, it was gone, leaving behind only faint glowing blue embers. He turned to face the two men, "I am merely a stranger. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm nothing to truly be concerned with. However I did expect more from the man who bears the mantle of The Question and of course who could forget the great Zatara. Though I suppose Xanadu might have let a few lessons slip."

He looked to magician then back to The Question, "Perhaps the better question would be, why was it attacking you? What provoked it? I can safely say that normal people don't get attacked by demonic creatures in tunnels." He asked the two, looking between either one, his hands now in his pockets. He looked every bit like a 40s detective, maybe the attire was making him sound like one? The clothes did make the man after all. In his case though, this had a bit of a more literal meaning. Turns out being bound to a piece of holy clothing could really change a man.

Robin
Elevator Shaft; Metropolis Outskirts

Robin nearly had to do a double take when Batman looked over at him and very unexpectedly smirked. The boy was always a bit taken aback by these surprising kinds of moments; he couldn't help but be. Inwardly though, he felt a little delighted whenever such risks were taken, as that was usually when things were at their most exciting and thrilling. He watched Batman jumped down into the elevator shaft, still a bit shocked for a moment or two, before a grin gradually lit up his entire face. It wasn't long before he heard the telltale sound of a grappling hook firing and then promptly attaching to stone a few seconds later. He quickly grabbed his own grappling hook from off of his belt, letting out a cheer as he did so. "Sounds good to me!" Descending quickly in such a way sounded much more appealing than tediously trying to climb, anyway.

Robin reached up to adjust his mask in order to turn on night vision for himself as well. He let himself get adjusted to the change in vision for a moment, before taking a breath and leaping into the shaft with an enthusiastic whoop. After having taken the plunge, the young sidekick's actions were at first quite similar to those of his mentor. Once he had fallen quite a ways, he fired the grappling hook that he clenched in one hand, though it quickly became a two handed grip once the hook attached to what appeared to be a solid stone part of the structure. His little yellow cape fluttered behind him as he fell, but unfortunately it wouldn't prove to be as much help with his landing as Batman's would be for him. Instead of letting himself fall to the ground once the grappling line began getting a bit taut, he instead dug his boots into one of the walls once he had gotten far down enough. He continued sliding downwards that way until he was abruptly stopped by one of the wooden boards that lined the shaft.

He tested his weight on it, then retracted the grappling hook from where it had been attached to before. After he had retracted the grappling hook, the boy peered down below him, which was a height that he could easily handle jumping from, and so he soon made a leap to the ground below. He managed to land on his feet with a faint grunt, having landed not too far behind Batman. Robin attached his grappling hook back to his belt, immediately looking up afterwards in order to survey the area. He couldn't see anything that much yet, even with night vision. It was uncomfortable to try to get adjusted to the cold, clammy environment, but he forced himself to do it. Once having fully regained his bearings, Robin stepped beside his partner, wordlessly and tensely waiting for the signal to move forward to investigate whatever might lie ahead in the darkness before them.

Mr. Zero, Metropolis, Star Labs

Compared to the other people in the room, Mr. Zero, didn't seem much affected by their entrance or direct demands. Namely cause he had dealt with a man whom utilized fear as his man weapon in the long-run. Thus he had been 'mostly' innoculated against such type of psychological warfare. When a man was close to losing everything he held dear - worrying about getting shot or beaten up, seemed like a minor detail in the long run.

Nevertheless, he understood a troublemaker when he heard one - and exercised a bit more caution than the Head Researcher. Victor didn't want to test, how far his authority was able to go. Plus, if anything got smashed then it would be on Supergirl' head - he wasn't about to start anything. Nor give this glowing green cop - any reason to start exercise police brutality.

At the time though, he knew Batman was already at the location - so, better to keep the cop waiting just a bit longer. Because he was sure, Batman didn't like anybody interrupting his catch - especially an unknown factor. Not until he got an understanding, on how this man operated in the first place.

"Well then, Officer Sinestro. For the most part, we have been scanning and trying to make head-or-tail about these strange....signals," he replied - pulling up a map of the Earth. Then pointing out the strange signals and transmissions. That seemed to come from outside of the Solar System and then suddenly boof into existence on Earth itself. Victor wanted one detail out of the way, before he started trusting this cop. "Could you tell me, if these signals seem familiar? Or this frequency? Or what device they are using, that seem to violate the laws of physics?"

He then also looked at the ring on Sinestro' hand. "Also, as a man of science - I have a question as well Officer. Without sounding rather typical and not stating it might be higher-dimensional tech. Is that ring on your finger, sometype of Quantum-Entanglement Energy-Transistor? Since your floating and I don't see any other power source around you. I am thinking your siphoning power from farther away, utilizing the laws of Quantum Entanglement?" he asked, as a form of curiosity. He was after all, not immune to studying and discovering new types of things.

Batman
Underground Railway, Metropolis Outskirts

The air felt unnaturally close down here. It was a bit unnerving, though it was far from the most terrifying place Bruce had ever ventured. It reminded Batman of the incident years back when the super criminal known as Bane had drugged him, fitted him in a straight jacket, tossed him into a coffin and buried him alive. Needless to say that was an uncomfortable situation. Even with the cowl's night vision, it was very difficult to make anything out down here.

Vague remnants of the hundred year old worksite had remained, as the unfinished railway continued onward through the tunnel. The place was littered with rubble and collapsed support beams; mental note, explosives would be a very bad idea down here. Another cave in would make things... Complicated. Bruce really didn't feel the need to share his concerns with Dick, as it would be pretty self evident this place was ready to collapse.

The radio in both of the crime fighter's earpieces would start to scratch with static.

"M... uce.... Mas... I ha..." the scattered voice of Alfred had attempted to communicate, though it was impossible to decipher what he was actually saying. Bruce grumbles.

"Radio contact is out, we're too far underground. Stay alert, we're on our own down here..." The Dark Knight says in a hushed tone, trying to draw as little attention to the duo as possible. Who knew what was down here waiting for them.

Slowly moving further into the outstretching darkness, things would remain uneventful for what seemed like a while. Batman and Robin would now be fairly deep into the tunnel, running into nothing but more rubble and ruins.

That was, until the Batman's heartbeat sensor in his cowl picked up several signals. Six irregular heartbeats were moving, though Bruce was having a difficult time with a visual. One thing was certain however; they were definitely not alone. Halting in his tracks, Batman turns to address Robin.

Before he could utter a word however, a long tongue like appendage sprung forth from the shadows at alarming speeds, before wrapping around Bruce's left arm. Before he could even fully react to the ambush, the hidden creature attempted to pull Batman into the darkness.

Whatever this creature was, it was strong. It was easily able to yank Bruce backwards away from Robin. Grunting and struggling, Batman plants his feet into the muddy ground, attempting to anchor himself. When that didn't work, Batman acted purely on instinct.

Activating the taser in his free hand, he grabs onto the tongue that had been grappling him, sending an electric current out to the creature in the dark.

With a loud, ungodly shriek, the creature releases Batman, and he is able to regain his footing, leaping back towards Robin. The electric shock would momentarily light up the room, revealing six grotesque, insect like creatures. They stood up on their hind legs, with four arms each. Each arm possessed a host of sharp claws. The tongue like thing that had grabbed Bruce appeared to be protruding from one of its hands, and it appeared to be retractable.

Taking up a combat position, the Dark Knight prepared for a fight.

"Back to back! Don't let them get behind you!" Bruce shouted.

Three of the unknown things would go after Batman, while the other three would focus on Robin.
