Name: Nam Miyoung

Nicknames: Mina, Nami

Age: 17 years old

Gender: Cisgender Female

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Height: 5 ft 6 in or 167 cm

Weight: 127 lbs or 57 kg

Hair: A natural black color. She typically ties up her hair in a high ponytail.

Any distinguishing marks?: Other than her baby face, Miyoung has a small mole right underneath her right eye

Personality:

Miyoung is probably one of the most hardworking girls on the planet. She always chases perfection in her dancing, and in her everyday life, even though she knows perfection doesn’t exist in this world. It doesn’t stop her from trying to be the best dancer, or the best anything for that matter, she could be. Once she decides to do something, she follows through with that decision until the very end. No matter how difficult the challenge can be, Miyoung faces it head on, and puts in 120% effort to get through it. She is stubborn and never gives up hope that she will succeed in the world even if she is of poor status.

It’s very clear that she hates the rich social class, for a number of reasons she doesn’t want to say. She expressed her hatred whenever she could. Ironically, she knows her place in this divided town and would never say anything bad about them to their face. No matter how ticked off she was, she always knew the time and place to release her anger. It would probably be the end for her if she did something to them, plus who knows what they could do to her mother. Miyoung cares for her mother deeply, since she is the only family Miyoung has left.

Miyoung is very loyal towards the people she cares about. She’ll stand up for them and try to help out whenever she could. Of course, within reason. She still has her morals and would never do anything to get herself in too deep of a hole. She is a very skeptical person. Miyoung takes everything with a grain of salt. It’s a little difficult to gain her trust, but she is generally nice and polite to everyone. Once you gain her trust, you must not break it, unless you want to lose her friendship entirely. She can hold a grudge and if you betray her trust somehow, she’ll never forgive or forget it.

Background:

Miyoung has lived most of her life in the slums of Moonsoong. That’s right, most. She grew up in the slums, but up until she was six years old, she lived in the rich neighborhoods with her parents, and her older siblings. It all started when her father, Jung Youngjae, fell in love with her mother, Nam Sunmi. Whereas Youngjae lived amongst the rich social class, Sunmi came from a poor family. Obviously, their love for each other was rejected by the rich boy’s parents. Long story short, the two happy lovers eventually married. Not long afterwards, Sunmi gave birth to Miyoung’s older brother Jaemin, and then three years later gave birth to Miyoung’s older sister, Sunhwa. Seven years after that, Miyoung was born into this world.

Despite the large age gap between her and her siblings, Miyoung constantly played with Jaemin and Sunhwa. She stuck to their side like glue. She was always a very happy child, even though she was constantly compared to her older siblings by her peers. She wasn’t as beautiful as Sunhwa, nor as intelligent as Jaemin, but she didn’t care. She spent her days happily with her family, and that’s all that mattered to her. Tragically, not long after turning six years old, her father got into a terrible traffic accident and passed away in the crash. Having lost the sole reason why Sunmi and the children were able to stay in the rich area in that car crash, Sunmi and her three children were kicked out of their homes and forced to live in the slums of the town. Without Youngjae, Sunmi reverted back to her original social status and her peers no longer accepted her or her children to walk amongst them freely.

Since she was still only a child, Miyoung easily transitioned into her new social environment. As long as she still had her family, that’s all that mattered. For Jaemin and Sunhwa, the transition was not as easy. The two were the talk of the area. They excelled in beauty and brains. It was easy to tell just by looking that they were in a whole different level. It was like they belonged in the elites. They had grown accustomed to their old, fancy life, unable to suddenly transition into a world where they barely had any money.

For the next three years, Sunmi worked as hard as she could to provide for her three children. Growing into their mid to late teenage years, Jaemin and Sunhwa became even more elite than before. So much so that Youngjae’s brother noticed them and wanted to take them out of the slums and into high society where they belonged. The two were too good to stay in the slums, he said. Other than her cute looks, she was an average girl, that got average grades. Her uncle barely even paid any attention to her during his visit. That night Jaemin and Sunhwa lied to Miyoung about them not going with their uncle. The two left the next morning, not long after Miyoung went to school. They didn’t bring anything with them, when they left. When Miyoung got home, everything she knew her siblings owned were still right there where they left them, untouched. Framed photos, homemade knick knacks, their clothes, everything was still there. They didn’t want to bring anything that reminded them of the family they abandoned or their life in the slums.

Devastated, Miyoung took to the streets, spending her afternoons walking around the slums. She didn’t want to go back to the apartment that still had remnants of the memories of her older siblings. One day, she had come across some street dancers. At first glance, she became mesmerized by their intricate movements. The group was there every day, and once she was done with school, Miyoung would go watch them. When she gathered enough courage, she walked up to the group and asked them if they could teach her how to dance like them. At first, they patronized her since she was only a nine year old girl, but the group eventually agreed to teach her. Wanting to try it out, she told her mother that day she was going to learn to dance and that she didn’t need to pay a dime. When her older siblings were still there, Miyoung has asked her mother if she could learn ballet, but Sunmi refused because they just couldn’t afford it. Miyoung wasn’t asking for permission because no matter what she was going to learn how to dance one way or another. She just thought she was obligated to at least tell her mother what she’s going to be doing. Sunmi reluctantly agreed to let her young daughter learn from the street dancers.

As she grew up, Miyoung learned all she could from the group of dancers. She had turned into magnificent dancer herself even though she didn’t get formal lessons from a class. And that’s Miyoung became the dancer girl you see today. Sadly enough, a few years ago, her mother became very sick and was hospitalized immediately. She was diagnosed with Leukemia. Although she wanted her mother to get better, they didn’t have enough money to pay for the treatments to cure her. The next day Miyoung finds out through the doctor and nurses that her mother was transferred to a better hospital and that all expenses were already paid for. While visiting her mother at the new hospital where she will be staying from now on, Miyoung investigated the mysterious person that paid for her mother's treatment. It turns out it was her older siblings that paid the expenses. It has been years since Miyoung last saw them, but from what she heard from the nurses gossip. Sunhwa was married and already had a child, while Jaemin was a successful businessman. He had taken over their father's company. To this day, Miyoung has never seen or even heard her siblings visit their sick mother. She only knew of the payments that they would send to the hospital.
