history... Born the elder twin, Duncan spent his whole life with his sister, Fiona. Not that he minded. He loved the fact that he had someone who automatically understood what was going through his head, even if they didn't have the same interests. Fiona was always there for him and he was always there for her. It was as simple as that. It was perfect. It was all he needed and all he searched for until they agreed to go to different universities. His sister went to DU while he enrolled at WDU. He knew instantly that he'd found the place he was meant to be.
While he wasn't the most academically inclined student, he did well in any class that had a hands on aspect, which led him to his major of engineering. He was using his hands to create something and make it stable. He appreciated that and it's unique way of creativeness. When he wasn't in class, he was out, playing sports, practicing archery, and just exploring. And if he wasn't in class or out of his dorm, he was glued to his phone, talking to his sister who he barely saw. The adjustment was hard for them both, but while Fiona seemed to flourish at her new school, Duncan did struggle in some ways.
He'd never gone so long without his other half. At first it almost felt like he was missing half of his body, the girl wasn't by his side like she normally was. He felt off for a while. He'd been her elder brother, even if they were twins. He was the one who looked out for her and made sure everything they did was safe for her and wouldn't put her in a disadvantage or uncomfortable situation. It was a role he'd taken on automatically, while looking to Nonna when he wasn't sure what to do. After a while, however, he began to get used to the separation, finally beginning to stretch his wings and become his own man.
And take flight he did. He was everywhere, trying everything. At first he didn't know what he wanted to do, but that didn't matter, not to Duncan Prince. No, he had a whole new world to explore and things to try and he was all for it. So when at the end of his second year and his sister called him crying, he just about snapped. He'd never stopped being a protective older brother. No he'd just toned it down, almost pausing it. The second he'd heard her voice, he was angry and it took everything in him to not immediately go to break the boy who hurt her in half. Instead he drove straight to her dorm and took care of his sister. Because she was what mattered. And if before they left, he keyed and messed with the engine of the boy's car, well. Who would know that it was him.
Now, as junior year begins, he's keeping a close eye on Fiona as she tries to reassure him that she's better now and doesn't need him hovering over her shoulder to make sure she's okay. He's not too sure he believes her just yet, but he knows that having his sister back by his side is one of the best things that could ever happen.
