dangerous title card 2.0.png

The Yutani-Kandel Corporate Monocity, Southwest of Vladivostok, Russia. The clock has just ticked over to the year 2050, and what's left of the world is trying build itself back up after years of consumption following the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus led to vast socio-economic collapse and a period of martial law.
The United Nations has had to rely on several megacorporations to survive. This has given them a veritable carte blanche to operate as they will, tearing apart once stable societies and small local governments. The Yutani-Kandel Biotechnology Firm has taken hold of most of the Asian continent, plastering their name on anything and everything, entire countries are now borderless and chaotic without so much as a hope outside of the daily meal for employees. More than 20 Million people clutter the streets of the YK Monocity in southern Russia most of them working for the golden giant, cornered into compliance, or to choose death. Recent shortages of food and water, even among the employed, have forced sections of the population to face the Sea-Wastes in search of a better place to live, or risk the famine of the home they once knew.

The game is simple, survive, with much attention being paid to cybernetic modification, black market trade, and street warfare. Under the boot of the monolithic YK industrial complex, the city is your home, enemy, and ally. You, the players, can adopt a diverse collection of character archetypes, ranging from hardwired mercenaries with psycholinked weapons and boosted reflexes, to Armani-wearing street moguls who make and break lives with the stroke of a pen. Any persona existing in this strange and broken environment can be yours to command. Your job is to survive, either barely, by the straps of your boots, or large, and by means only dreamt of by lesser people.

I am very interested and would love to rehash a character that I had used in a cyberpunk RP ages ago, if approved :)

i do have a char concept in mind of a cyborg mercenary who goes through things with nothing but his bare hands and his ridiculously augmented body.
That oughta fit in just fine.
Mercenary work is pretty common, since as long as there are two people left on the planet, someone is going to want someone dead.
There are a few groups that work in concert, either freelancing or in teams for larger targets, but typically they only deal with elephantine prey.

I think you'll find that the power structures at play are far more aggressive than you might think >8)
When those at the top find dissent or threat to their systems, it would be ill-advised of them to simply let it be.
The logical extreme, of course, is the active hunting down and elimination of threat cells before they can take root.

yeah, but they underestimate the fact that they rely entierly on the proletariate to survive. the wheels of history are turned by the masses, and while those on top the wheel may think they get a cushy ride, they will eventually wound up crushed into the ground as soon as the people realize that they are the ones who controll the direction.

[agrees while subtly implying the existence of a loose plotline involving corporate espionage, ruthless mercenary backstabbing, and global domination]

This... smells like Shadowrun. Though I saw no mention of the fantasy races. Still, I could be interested. I'm just curious on what the central story is that will keep all the PCs on the same page. Like, how are you planning to put all the characters under the same banner? Or is it just going to be a free-for-all in self-appreciating narratives?

So, without going into any spoilers, I essentially have a set of loose dot-connects that will outline the plot. Basically a series of equally applicable events, targets, and/or, goals, that will work to give the players mutual interests throughout the story, as well as progress the plot toward various fun and exciting climaxes.
The remainder of the content will be much more freeform and allow for PCs to develop, move around, and interact in largely unforeseen ways.

(also, believe it or not, you're not the first person to relate this to shadowrun, something that afaik is totally unintentional, or at least pathologically subconscious.)

alright. Well, I'm leaning towards some kinda shady, gang member type of character. Probably involved in drugs and arms dealing. maybe even has some connects to illegal cybernetic mods on the black market. Not as a surgeon, mind you. Just a middleman. Would that be something you could work in? I'll hafta give the character some real thought. This is just a very bare bones idea for now.

And yeah, Shadowrun pretty much set the pace for the cyberpunk corporatocracy genre back in the early 90s.

DEFINITELY a strong archetype for the setting.
So theres a few things thatll get more coverage in the actual threads, but one big setting is going to be a nightclub run by an elderly gentleman who basically runs the place as a safehouse for mercs on his good side. theres also a fella in cybernetics circles who in basically legendary for supplying some of the highest quality prosthetic merch on the black market. theres an active red light district with all the sleaze and foul people to go along with it.
basically a carte blanch for the type of character you just described.
theres way more information than i even have written down at the moment, so if you have any direct questions def. let me know and ill fill you in.

That is also why I sniffed it out.

Yes, I am still here, I just got a little wrapped up in life unpleasantness and RP drama that kept me away from RP for a couple days. May I DM you laters?

I first played it on Sega Genesis, and I currently have all three available "modern" editions on Steam. But I've never played it on TT. Admittedly, I don't really know ppl irl that are into roleplaying.
