Plot: Sometime in the future, a viral outbreak turned large portions of the population into zombies. Many survivors either found refuge in bunkers or fight for survival against the zombies. Scientists tried to find a cure and experimented on zombies and even took freshly infected people and tried to prevent them from becoming zombies. But after cybernetically enhancing freshly infected people in hopes to at least mechanically stop the degradation of the brain, the scientists just ended up creating intelligent zombie cyborgs that while still able to think like humans, still have the hunger for human flesh. Eventually the scientists are killed by the cyborgs and the cyborgs go out in search for flesh and for parts to further upgrade themselves.
To prevent the cyborgs from randomly just upgrading themselves ad infinitum, I'd make a character that acts as an upgrade station.
