APPLICATION

Before anything else, keep in mind the absolute rule: This is Night City. The stories of the people are vibrant, powerful, intriguing, beautiful, and above all tragic, but in the end Night City always takes everyone and everything. There are no happy endings here. This is something that should be reflected in every character.

On that positive note, characters! This thread will be used for initial character ideas and drafts of your character sheet. Please keep ONE post here and use the discussion thread for questions/conversation. If you wish for me to review your character idea before getting into the sheet, message me directly.

You will also be sending me your character's introduction as a part of your application. Because this and the sheet are both equally important, you may choose to begin with either one, however keep in mind I will not be able to give accurate assessments without one or the other, and will only accept your application once both parts are finalized.

Be prepared to do research where necessary. As I have mentioned previously, I do not expect you to have played the game or watched the show, but I DO expect you to acquire the knowledge needed to fully integrate into the world and story.

Now, the moment you've been waiting for. The introduction will be your character recovering a random item for Nyx. The item can be literally anything, either some really important dete or literal trash, and it can be literally anywhere, from the top of a skyscraper to some Maelstrom hideout. Show me your creativity! But again, keep in mind the limits of your characters.

STATS

Your character will begin with 3 in each of the following, and you will be given 7 points to allocate. You may only allocate a max of 3 into one stat to start with. Additionally, you may reallocate one point from a stat from the initial 3. The max possible points in one stat is 20.

  • Cool - Your character's charisma interacting with people and how flashy they look in action. Additionally affects certain other traits like stealth and capacity for using specific weapons.
  • Reflexes - How fast your character is in both reacting to certain situations and analyzing potential outs. Affects your character’s skill in ranged weaponry as well.
  • Intelligence - How capable your character is problem-solving and thinking beyond what is already known. Required for netrunning and quickhacks.
  • Technical - With how tech is present in everything, technical skill is a category of its own. Affects your character's ability to fix things and rig solutions on the fly.
  • Strength - Stamina, endurance, and, well, how strong your character is, they all fall under this section.
Lastly, there is also a Capacity stat that will be calculated by percentage depending on the stats of your character and how much cyberware they have. THIS AFFECTS YOUR CHARACTER'S MENTAL STATE. The higher your Capacity is, the closer your character is to cyberpsychosis. You will be required to keep your Capacity percentage in mind when writing your character and reflecting it in how they act. Of course, you may want your character to have a different tolerance, such as more or less, so you may suggest a Capacity to me to start with. Regardless, at 100%, things will... happen.

You should assign points with this in mind. Different cyberware will be associated to different stats, and high points in the appropriate stat can alleviate capacity cost. Use your best judgement to have high points in the appropriate stat, especially if your special item is cyberware.

RULES

Regarding the character sheet, I reserve EVERY RIGHT to reject drafts for any reason I deem fit. Here is a general list of what I am looking for:
  • The code below must be used.
  • Your faceclaim should be anime/drawn.
  • Even though this is in the future and there are many things possible in this world that aren't in real life, you must still follow a logical line of explanation. This includes your character's equipment, their personality traits, backstory, everything.
  • Things must still follow the limitations of the world itself and those that you dictate for your character, and nothing should make illogical jumps simply because you think it'd be cool for your character. This, of course, means no perfect characters, but also you should actively be thinking in the shoes of your character. What would they do? What can they do?
  • ALL cyberware falls under the following categories: OS, Neural, Optical, Respiratory, Immune, Circulatory, Nervous, Skeleton, Hands, Arms, Legs, and Feet. Make sure if you wish to have multiple cyberware that there's not multiple in one category unless it makes sense, for example one on each hand.
  • Cyberware is limited to simple augmentations, like better lungs or more strength. Cyberware that affects reflexes or in general speeds up your character are not allowed for fairness.
  • You are allowed ONE "special" equipment. This can be cyberware, a custom modded weapon, or retrofitted vehicle. If you choose cyberware, be aware I will be very critical of what I allow. If you choose a weapon/vehicle, it must be based on an existing brand or model in the world. This is only a restriction for the start of the story, your character can certainly gain more over time.
