The New World

Wont play a large part in out story but who knows maybe we will visit it for some buried or native treasure.;)

The Prentiss Archipelago

Our Playground! The Archipelago lies to the south-east of the main continent of Ariatra right in the way of most the ship routes from the old world. The Archipelago found little interest at first from the great powers because of the resource rich main continent so few colonies were set up, most of which by the Kingdom of Aretha. Soon though as more and more nations took interest, its importance as relatively safe route through to the old world was seen. More nations began settling in the area and used as ports of call for trading ships and HQ for operations against the other nations. Soon it was discovered that the archipelago had resources of its own to exploit from mining on the centre islands and plantation ion other island. Not all islands were colonized though and in the years followed and piracy grew pirate havens and attempts at independent nation began to rise and fall. Of course an uncolonised didn't mean the islands are empty as they are native tribes in many islands.

Kingdom of Aretha

Back in the days of the Ancient Thalian Empire, the dwarves of the old world were separated into tribes and considered barbarians by the Thalian Empire and other nations at the time. The Thalian empire attempted several times to conquer the tribes but the dwarves were formidable warriors who whatever differences the tribes had against each other would always band together to fight invaders. For many years the dwarves were considered the backwater of the old world, rarely playing a role in world events even after the Thalian Empire fractured and fell. In the wars that made up the Age of Fire, the dwarves remained largely unscathed, its warriors hired as mercenaries by the other nations. These mercenaries learned alot from the other nations and brought back their knowledge back to the tribes. The knowledge changed the tribes, old hatreds were put aside and unified and the Kingdom of Aretha was born descriptive the balance of power in world. The new nation still tried to remain neutral in the conflict though soon as the kingdom developed and industrialized at great speed it found its own need of resources. The decided to seek their resources elsewhere, working on ancient maps and reports from the Thalian Empire went to the sea in search of new lands leading to the famed Tria's Odyssey which kicked started the Age of Discovery. From this this young nations became a major superpower with incredible speed earning the ire of all other nations having the largest presence in the new world.

Holy Thia Empire

The Ancient Thalian Empire ruled over both the old and known new world for around 500 years before falling under the weight of a wave of nationalistic uprising which marked the age of Revolution. The age of Revolution ended with the razing of the capital of the empire, Atriarum. It said the empire ended that day broken up to the various successor states. However it was born again once more at least in spirit in the nation known as Thia where a prophet known as Salai had a vision from the heavens that the new nation were corrupt and against the word of god and called for the return for the Thalian way, Salai gained a following and civil war latter took charge of the Thia. He revived old tradition, bureaucracy and religion of the old empire bringing in a new golden age. His claims of divine guidance and cult of personality meant that even in death he still officially rules the empire even hundreds of years after his death. In truth a council of elected individual role the empire mostly drawn from the religious caste.
Thia claims a large territory in the old world and is largely self-sufficient in terms of resources though their Samphire supplies are dwindling. Because of this they did not show the same interest in the New World as other nations. However, the interest of the other nation interested them more, especially the potential change in the balance of power. Not the popular nation in the old world, they needed to something to maintain the status quo.

The East Reach Trading Company

Not all nations in the Old World are able to take advantage of the discovery of the New World, either unable to go to sea being landlocked or lacked the resources to do so or too involved in their wars to care. One such nations in the Norian Kingdom, elven lead, the kingdom has been involved in war of attrition with their neighbours like the Thia Empire for generations. Its resources are running and do not have the naval power to spare for a trip to the new world on its own and their economy suffered because of it. To combat this a group of merchants banded together forming The East Reach Trading Company to exploit the new world, they earned funding from their kings and various nobles to set up an expedition of two trading ships. The expedition was a success earning a significant amount of wealth for all involved. After further expeditions the company began to settle islands and go from growth to growth earning wealth not only from the islands but also investments from significant figures from other nations even the Holy Thia Empire. Recently it has become a major player in in the new world with resources and military to rival that of other nations even outgrowing the Norian Kingdom.
