Name: Nori Jay

zd9ZCpB.png

"You can ask the families of all those who died if I am wasting my talent."

Gender: F

Age: 25

Role: Captain

Appearance:

Standing at a rather imposing 6'1", Nori is a tall lithe character that carriers herself with a certain determination in her step. Those who view her at a glance can tell that she is sure of her purpose through the heavy, but precise steps and stern look on her face. While she may come off as weak, given her thin frame and baggy clothes, she is anything but. Her numerous years of military service have helped her cultivate a functionally strong body. She has red hair that is currently kept in a pony tail. While she was active duty, she kept it shaved down however the scene change to her new role and her new ship has given her a bit more freedom with it. She typically wears darker colors that help contrast with her naturally pale skin. Nori has eyes that shine with an intense amber color that are constantly scouting her surroundings.

Even though she has more freedom with this new assignment, Nori still is spotted wearing only what can be practical. Her jacket is function more than fashion, her pants are typically a pair of tights or black military pants, and she is always in a pair of combat boots. Off ship she carries little besides her weapons.

She wears standard military combat armor on ground missions and a captains suit in the skies.

Personality:

{Determined}{Burnt out}{Depressed}

Nori used to view herself as a product of her upbringing. She was cold, calculating, and completely detached from the situation around the galaxy at large. She paid attention, but otherwise, she did not care about the plight of those outside her circle. Nori was unwilling to listen and to learn and she did not have a desire to help those in true need. From a young age she had the military life drilled into her. Whereas other kids were able to play, she had to learn. She spent countless hours in simulations, learning from past commanders mistakes and learning how to fight. Eventually, she was enrolled into military academies and prep schools and spent the better part of her childhood and teenage years in this rigid structure.

Ever since taking command of the Traveler, she tends to breathe a little easier knowing she is free from the expectations that were thrust upon her shoulders. She is allowing herself to be more open with those around her and she is allowing herself to feel the emotions she was taught to bury deep inside. While she is far from the person she wants to be, she is closer to it then ever before. Her crew will find her awkward at times, stern at others, but they will see that she is true to her word and authentic as can be.

History:

{Young Graduate}{Ship Captain}{Command Failure}{Loss of life}

The young Nori never had a childhood. In the beginning of her memory, there is only books, simulations, and nary a ray of sun. Born to a pair of decorated fleet captains, whose marriage and goal for childreen was to further increase their standing, Nori's fate was decided for her early on. She does not remember having any friends, any pleasant memories, though she does remember she had no time to play. Nori indeed grew up in the shadow of her parents expectation, and she was also deeply entrenched in the life. With any sense of what life was malformed, Nori would be the perfect student and the perfect soldier. Soon, she grew up enough to take on bigger and more involved simulations and even deployed with her family on numerous occasions. Explosions replaced her movies, gunfire replaced her music, and the stars replaced her art.

Nori was hungry for this life. She wanted to become a captain like her parents. She wanted to become famous for her bravery and for her skill. She wanted to be feared and respected. She began to take on more and more challenges, more so than any other kid before her. Her dedication paid off as she was selected to begin training at the academy as the youngest student ever drafted.

Only here did Nori learn the truth of her existence. Her fellow students introduced her to more. She experienced the beauty of the world in the parks around the academy, she learned how everything can change when the right song was played, and she learned how important having friends and experiences with them was. While this was never something that distracted her from her studies, it was something that helped open her eyes to how different she was from her new friends. They all had stories about visiting far off worlds and exploring marvelous places and all Nori had was fleet battles in space. Eventually, she would graduate from the academy at the young age of 19, almost four years ahead of the rest, and begin her military career. She was assigned to the USS Interloper, a cruiser assigned to the Core World Patrol fleet. Here she served as a second in command, and assisted the ship as it hunted pirates, smugglers, and vermin of the sort

As much as Nori thought herself trained and ready, she couldn't grasp just how much she did not know. There was a human component that could not be taught in a simulation. Where her commander was able to lead effectively and professionally, Nori struggled. She could not emphasize with the plights of her crew, she did not understand the complex nature of their lives and only saw things through the lens of her rigid life. The longer she spent under the wing of this captain, the more his style of leadership rub off on her. To some this assignment was on purpose, to expose Nori to the one thing she lacked while also helping the captain where he struggled. The two made the Interloper a feared anti-pirate ship over the next four years and this led to a massive bounty being placed against its hull. It was this bounty that would eventually claim the ship, and most of her crew. On a routine mission they were ambushed by a small fleet, 3 cruisers and numerous smaller crafts emerged from an asteroid belt and began their attack. Nori was in command as the ships captain was off duty. While she commanded the ship well, disabling 2 of the cruisers and destroying numerous other ships, it was still too much and they were forced to abandon ship. The captain forced Nori to the escape pod, disabled the safeties' on the ships engine, and overloaded the core. The resulting explosion took out the disabled pirate cruisers and damaged the third. In total, 314 sailors lost their lives in the attack. While she did everything right, and fought better than she had any right to, that kind of death toll follows one through the rest of their career.

While she was cleared of any negligence, and was commended for her command, the toll of those who died weighed on her mind. As did her guilt that she survived and the captain did not. It was her command that let the ship die, it was her decisions that caused her crew to die, and it should have been her that stayed behind to finish the fight. She was offered her own command not long later. The fleet was impressed enough with her skills, with her training, and with the results she could deliver. She would have had her choice of fleet ships from cruisers on upward. Instead, in a move that caught the admiralty and her parent's by surprise, she chose the Traveler and its new mission.

Speculation is she is looking for redemption.

Equipment:

Any item they carry and any cybernetics they have implanted.

Name: Titus Carolos Mariano
F8268CE6-CDD2-4886-A3CB-7CCD1F38EC8C.png
"I am tormented with an everlasting itch for things remote. I love to sail forbidden seas, and land on barbarous coasts."

Gender: M

Age: 29

Appearance:
Titus Mariano is tall and lean with a muscular build, standing approximately 6 feet tall. He has chiseled facial features with a strong jawline and piercing brown eyes that convey intelligence and focus. His complexion is slightly tanned as a result of his frequent travels across the galaxy and exposure to various suns. His brown hair is cut short and is usually styled in a neat and tidy manner. He always keep his face clean shaven. He wears the standard uniform of an imperial starship officer, featuring a form-fitting tunic that accentuates his athletic build.

History:
{Skilled Tactician}{Versatile}{War Crime}{Demotion}
Titus Mariano was born in the year 2980 on the planet Vellum, where his parents had settled after leaving their homeland on Earth. Titus grew up amid the scorching deserts and the harsh living conditions that Vellum offered, but he never let it dampen his spirits. He was a curious child who was always keen on exploring the world around him. His father, a Starfleet captain, had instilled in him a strong sense of duty and discipline, while his mother, a botanist, had nurtured his love for nature.

As a teenager, Titus knew he wanted to serve in the fleet and become an officer like his father. He excelled in academic and physical training and was eventually selected to attend the Academy on Lyri. There, he underwent rigorous training and simulation programs to prepare himself for his future role. Titus proved to be an exceptional student, and his superiors recognized his potential. After graduation, Titus was assigned to various ships and stations throughout the galaxy, gaining experience and building his reputation. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and received various commendations for his bravery and skill in difficult situations. However, Titus never lost sight of his ultimate goal, to serve on one of the most advanced ships in the fleet. Eventually, his wish was granted when he was reassigned and qualified as the Tactical Action Officer on board USS Cerberus, the latest and most advanced Deamhan Class starship in the Imperial Starfleet at the time.

Titus faced many challenges during his time on the Cerberus. The ship was constantly on the frontlines, engaged in battles against numerous hostile forces that threatened the stability of the Empire. The conditions were harsh, and the crew had to work long hours under intense pressure. Titus had to make split-second decisions that could mean the difference between victory and defeat, and the safety of the ship and its crew depended on his expertise.

However, the hardest challenge Titus ever had to face was a moral one. The Cerberus was in pursuit of a group of notorious space pirates who had been terrorising Imperial convoys. The pirates were heavily armed and refused to surrender despite the Cerberus' superior firepower. After a long and intense battle, the pirate ship finally suffered a catastrophic failure and was left drifting in space, defenceless and with its crew signalling to surrender. Despite the circumstances, Titus received an order to fire upon the ship. He was hesitant at first, but his superior officer insisted that the pirates were a threat to the Empire and had to be eliminated. In a moment of indecision, Titus followed through with the order and executed a war crime. It was later found out that the pirates held numerous civilians taken on board as hostage, one of which was the daughter of a member of the Imperial Senate.

The consequences of his actions were severe. Titus was court-martialed and demoted to the rank of Lieutenant. He was discharged from the Cerberus and reassigned to a much less prestigious ship. Titus was devastated by the loss of his reputation and the damage he had done to his career. He spent years trying to make amends for his mistake, but the shadow of the war crime followed him wherever he went.

Despite the hardship he faced, Titus never lost his love for serving in the fleet. He continued to work towards redemption and earned the respect of his peers and superiors for his dedication and perseverance.

Titus was just recently reassigned as the new pilot to the USS Traveller, the most successful frigate in the Imperial Starfleet, famous for punching above her weight and once took down a pirate cruiser. Although the ship herself is no longer state-of-the-art, Titus nonetheless was excited to serve on the Traveller and help protect the citizens of the Vexx Empire. He knew that the galaxy was in chaos and likely on the brink of another war, and he was ready to do his part in defending the Empire.

Personality:
{Driven}{Loyal}{Courageous}
Titus Mariano is a driven and disciplined individual who is deeply committed to the ideals of duty and service. He has a strong sense of loyalty to his family and his homeland, which have shaped his worldview and motivated him to pursue a career in Starfleet. Titus is also a curious and adventurous person who enjoys exploring new environments and experiencing new things.

As an officer, Titus is highly skilled and competent, with a strong focus on both academic and physical training. He is reliable, hardworking, and consistently performs at a high level, earning him the recognition and respect of his superiors and peers. Titus is also a courageous and resourceful leader who is able to make quick and decisive decisions in high-pressure situations.

However, Titus is also a complex individual who has faced difficult moral challenges in his career. Although he initially followed orders to commit a war crime, he later realised the gravity of his actions and spent years trying to make amends. This shows that Titus is not only a responsible officer, but also a person of integrity who is willing to take responsibility for his mistakes and work to correct them.

Overall, Titus Mariano is a versatile and well-rounded officer who possesses a range of skills and traits that make him an valuable asset to any ship.

Full Name: Ix Ter Ziddie
  • Crew Name: Ziddie
6c593d1aae7e5feab82552b6f7186d0d.jpg

Gender: Male

Age: 23
Homeworld: Lusit
Role: Marine

Appearance: Ziddie does not look very different from your average Empire marine. He is of sturdy build, a man with a capable physique. His red hair is normally kept short and combed, but it may appear messy at times if there are no officers to demand proper dress code wherever he is stationed. Ziddie has brown eyes and flat facial features.

Personality: This marine is incredibly quiet, and notably anti-social. He does not get along with his contemporaries, and will rarely go out of his way to speak with anyone. He has a quick temper, as someone who is easy to annoy. Ziddie is slightly obsessive, if not outright manic with his personal belongings and with how he thinks the world should work. He may feel constant stress due to keeping his thoughts bottled within himself. Ziddie suffers from a terrible addiction to cigarettes.

History: Ziddie hails from Lusit, a small moon of one of the outer worlds. It was a simple, quiet place, away from the bureaucracy and happenings of the Vexx Empire, despite being an official territory of the Empire, of course. When he was younger, Ziddie was part of Lusit's local militia, which had formed because of a lack of official Empire presence, and the moon was in need of protection. When the Empire did come to find out about this, the militia was absorbed into the Empire's actual marine corps, and Ziddie has been a marine ever since. Only now, however, has he actually been drafted to a real mission outside of Lusit's solar system. He has come long and far to be stationed on the Traveler.

Equipment:

  • Laser Pistol
  • Portable Communication and Scan Device
  • Standard Issue Marine Combat Vest
  • Magnetic Boots

Arthur August Edele-Merode III
Arthur August.png

Gender: Male
Age: 66
Role: Navigation/Communications Specialist (NavComm Spec.)

Appearance:
Arthur carries himself like a distinguished, wise, older gentleman in his late forties, early fifties. He has short cut, lighter grey hair and a nicely styled beard and is most often seen wearing a set of glasses. He appears like he works out often with a toned physique, even for his age, although very few have seen him work out. Standing at about 1m80 (5 '11), Arthur is very handsome and often the aim of many eyes on the ship he works on. When not in the uniform of his station, Arthur can often be seen wearing a shirt, a vest and dress pants. He has a personalized set of Mag boots that are meant to bridge the gap between MAG and dress shoes that he wears to official, non-military events.

Personality:
{Connector} - {Empathetic} - {Mentor}

By trade and by birth, Arthur is entirely designed around making connections with other people, looking after them, improving them and connecting them with others who will benefit from their presence. All in all, Arthur is looking to create an ecosystem around him that will benefit and enhance itself, and by extension, the ship they all live on.

While a lot of his time is spent at work, much of his down time is done in the presence of others. Either in a semi-professional manner as some sort of therapist-slash-guidance counselor or hanging out with friends and allies, generating or trading favors, building bridges and laying connections that will benefit him in the long run.

As an extension of his own hobbies, Arthur has developed a healthy curiosity into the lives and secrets of others, often using his skills to learn information to use later on when necessary. While it hasn’t gotten him into any real trouble, he has been spotted a few times in sections of the ship that his station doesn’t allow him access to.

History:
{Vat Grown} - {Omniglot} - {Neutral} - {Hacker}

As a baby, Arthur August was the result of carefully sequenced genes, high levels of genetic modifications and vast leaps in the field of biological manipulation by the Edele-Merode family. Perfectly tailored and designed to the dreams of the Edele-Merodes, Arthur’s life began quick and fast with early schooling at high levels, tightly controlled schedules and play-dates with carefully selected scions of other families and businesses. He followed along with every step from his parents’ choice of his friends to his schooling and how he spent his free time.

While there were some hick-ups during his teenage years involving an unsanctioned girlfriend and a little too much alcohol at a party one time, Arthur lived a full but busy life. He graduated with top marks from high school, top marks from a University specialized in producing the empire’s greatest diplomats and top marks from the officer academy for the empire’s future leaders.

It was only after his first tour as a diplomat’s aide/Comms Spec. that Arthur deviated from the path set before him. A series of missions gone wrong, way outside his purview as a diplomat but happening on his ship, gave Arthur a new appreciation for making some choices for himself. As a hobby, he began learning how to manipulate machines and systems, beginning with opening and closing his cabin door without a ‘key’ and quickly evolving into unsanctioned visits to the ship’s personal files and data storage.

During his second tour, he convinced his superiors that as a Comms Spec he should be able to do more than just talk and funding and time was allotted to him to learn more as a hacker and how to apply his newfound passion to his station as a Comms Spec. While never officially graduated, Arthur spent the last month of his second tour and the entire third tour as a Cyber Warfare Spec. instead.

Having found himself a way forward that was not a part of his carefully planned route to success and fame for the Edele-Merode family, Arthur began leaning away from the plan more and more and personal decisions were being made on a more regular basis. Decisions and choices of this nature varied anywhere from a more personalized wardrobe to the installation of a full-body hive of cybernetics, managed by a VI, in order to facilitate his job as a diplomat even more, but also to halt the inevitable decay of his naturally engineered appearance.

Over the years of service, Arthur had forged many connections, with grunt and officer alike, on the ships he’d served on and when the opportunity for another tour arose, he chose the Traveller. He volunteered, choosing something a little more diplomatic in nature for his latest tour.

Personal Effects:
  • Multiple sets of reading glasses (fake)
  • Personal PCS Device (with unsanctioned upgrades): A PCS with several extra features and programmes installed on it for personal use with extra layers of personalized protection. It includes a set of tools to measure and maintain the hive as well as a variety of hacking tools and backdoors into general systems on most Empire ships.
Equipment:
  • Official PCS Device
  • Official Mag Boots
  • ‘Scorch’ Laser Pistol
  • Subcutaneous hive of nanobots for personal appearance manipulation (VI-enhanced): A preprogrammed set of nanobots that help maintain an attractive and (more) youthful appearance of the host they are implanted into to facilitate social situations and connections. They are run by a VI 'queen' who carries most of the programming for the hive.
