Name:
Amara Ana Maria Montara

Nickname:
Ana (by her mother), Swine (by her grieving father)

Age:
18 years old

Gender:
Female

Title:
Princess, she is from a Latin kingdom called Floria

Occupation:
Selective

Appearance:
656b0f401570ad19a5a903d2a76452b8.jpg

Personality:
Amara may seem like a pretty face, but she is more then that. She is independent and a strong women who does not need help or support from anyone, which is why she keeps to herself and never shares her emotions with anyone (not that she has anyone to share it with anymore). She is willing to give a helping hand to those in need but cross her and you will regret it. She has a hard time keeping her cool so she talks with a calm voice that is very soothing and relaxing to hear. Because of Amara's abusive past, she is quite shy when she meets new people and will not open up to them since she has trust issues. Amara is also wise, she spends most of her time nose deep in books. Considering the fact that she is from a Latin speaking Kingdom, she does know many other languages as well. She currently knows 5 languages and wishes to learn more. All in which she taught herself by ordering books that will help her. She is quite intelligent and quick to think up a plan or solution to a problem. She also has a few downfalls where she can be a bit stubborn and blunt to others, but she usually puts up this wall so that people won't take advantage of her.

Likes:
- Animals
-Fruits
-Her kingdom before the Queen had died
-Nature
-Gardening
-Cooking
-Being vegetarian

Dislikes:
- Her father when he is drunk
-Spiders
-Rejection
-Being Alone
-Abuse

Background:
Amara was born into a loving family. She had a mother named Ana who loved her unconditionally and a father named Sebastian. King Sebastian loved his daughter and his wife very dearly and protected them with all his heart, spoiling his two most favorite girls gifts. But, when Amara was at the age of 10 years old, her mother was pregnant at the time and caught a terrible illness where it cost both Ana and the unborn child's life. On this day, the kingdom was still and shocked to hear that their queen was gone. The kingdom that was once lively, and boosting with great people celebrating and festivities being held every day was long gone. Her father fell into great despair and it was as if all the light inside of him became nothing but darkness and he was left a hollow man. King Sebastian was led into alcoholism and tried to drink his problems away, and because of his excessive drinking, he would end up hurting his one and only daughter due to his clouded judgement, as Amara would like to put it in her words.

When her father abuses her, she says nothing because she knows that it is not his doing and it is only the alcohol making him act that way. Even when she tries to stop him, things just turn for the worst. Due to this, Amara is left traumatized because every time she tries to fall asleep, a picture is painted in her mind of her father in his drunk state of mind coming to hurt her. Her father was no longer the kind and gentle man that she had known nor the generous king that his kingdom had known before the Queen had died. The kingdom still remains beautiful, but it has know been corrupted by the King and the way that he has been grieving has also effected his ruling.

One day the kingdom is paid a visit by Amara's great aunt who is a duchess in some far away land. Her great aunt came as soon as possible when she heard that her nephew had fallen sick and refused to seek help. Now he only has a couple of months if not weeks until he dies. They talked about Amara ruling the kingdom and how she has to marry, which is why her Great Aunt thought what better way to restore this kingdom then to have a new Queen and King who love each other and will foresee that their citizens are their number one priority and their kingdom. Her father was very hesitant in letting her go since he did have a protective side and he also feared that all those things that he has done to Amara, she will tell them to anyone or seek help. Before she left that night, he threatened her to not say a word to anyone or anything or else she wouldn't see the day.

Amara later in the week agreed and her Great Aunt handed her the letter that they send out to the Selective. Now she will begin her journey in trying to find someone to lead with her after her father passes and possible love.

What does your character think about the whole Selection?:
"I used to believe in finding a soulmate and going off to live in a perfect castle with my perfect equal, but that was my naive four year old self. That was before my life took a turn for the worst when I lost someone so dear to me and was stuck in a prison where I saw the person I cared for, grieving over their soulmate. I saw the heartache that he went through and I only fear that I will experience the same pain and grieve as he did when he lost his soulmate." -Amara

Other:
-She has nightmares of her father twice a week

Name: Lena Margot Harker
Age: Nineteen
Gender: Female
Title: Commoner; the daughter of a merchant.
Occupation: Selective!
Appearance: Lena has a very unsure demeanor about her. She is not at all confident, which is quite evident in the way that she carries herself. She often has slouched shoulders- though she tries her best to act like a lady- and has quite shaky hands, an indication to her constant nervousness. Her build is nothing more than average, as she stands at a willowy 5'7" and weighs roughly 130 pounds. Her eyes are not quite brown, and yet not quite blue or green- hazel would be the closest to accurate term to use. Her skin is pale and rather unblemished save for three prominent freckles on her left shoulder. She often keeps them covered out of some immature embarrassment that people will tease her about it as they did when she was a child. She dresses in quite simple and 'drab' colors most of the time, and does not wear much jewelry. Her hair, naturally a bit frizzy and wavy, is often pulled back- giving her already vaguely gaunt face a rather sharp look. She does, however, have a pleasant and almost infectious smile; when paired with the same sort of laugh, humor with this one can lead to serious consequences. {Using Astrid Berges Frisbey as faceclaim! c:}
Personality: Shy, nervous, cautious. Lena really needs someone that will bring her out of her shell. She is more of an observer than anything- an introvert, if you will. Considerably polite. When around others Lena is often quiet and keeps her eyes downcast; she is truly non confrontational, but she does have a strong moral compass and will speak up when she sees something that is decidedly wrong to her. She knows how to keep her lips sealed and bites her tongue when the situation is not right, however.
Likes: Sweets, animals (not pigs; horses are perhaps more graceful), cats, silence.
Dislikes: New situations, large crowds, overly confident men, nobles that look down on her.
Background: Lena was born to a lowly merchant and the daughter of a fisherman out of wedlock. This did not affect her childhood much, save for her nickname being 'bastard', though it is perhaps why Lena became so introverted and nervous in the first place. Her father died when she was fifteen when bandits attacked his traveling caravan, and she was left with her widowed mother to finish growing up. Her mother, though she had never seen the inside of a palace or even a noble's manor, had always been intent on giving her only daughter, Lena, a better life. Her only other child, a little boy called Benjamin, died of small pox when he was just five; to her, Lena was the only thing that could keep her line going. Perhaps she cared more for her daughter's happiness, however. With the last of the meager amount of coin that they have saved up from Lena's father's merchant business, her mother sent Lena to participate in perhaps the only chance for her to find a gentlemanly (and rich) suitor.
What does your character think about the whole Selection?: She is rather neutral to the idea, but is doing it for the sake of her mother. She has always wanted something better for her only daughter, and Lena accepts that and wishes to try her best to please her in the long run. She sees it as somewhat of an opportunity and is thankful for those that are holding the events. Lena is also well aware that if she loses she will have to work off the 10% that she owes the kingdom of Cardonia.

BREA RYAN TAYLOR

"SHORT QUOTE HERE"
Name: Brea
Nickname: Bree
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Title: Princess
Occupation: Selective
Personality: Brea has no problem telling the truth, and her bluntness has gotten her into trouble with her parents many times. The older she's gotten, the more she's been able to reign herself in, but when she gets angry she can't stop herself from saying what's on her mind. Her brother is usually her saving grace, especially when it comes to their parents. She's usually a fun loving, energetic girl with a slight temper problem. She hates being told what to do, although she will begrudingly listen to her parents because well, they're the King and Queen.
Likes:
+Bright colors
+Dancing
+The idea of forever
Dislikes:
-Being told what to do
-History lessons
-Feeling trapped
Background: Brea has a gypsy soul, or so she's been told. She longs to travel away from the Kingdom she's spent her whole life in, so when the opportunity came up to travel to Cardonia, she begged her parents to let her go. They were unsure at first, about sending their only daughter away. They have a son who is to take over as King after they're gone, but she is their youngest child and only daughter. Her brother, who is also very protective of his younger sister, actually encouraged them to let her go.

She grew up in the shadow of her elder brother, but that was okay with her, because it gave her more freedoms that he didn't have. She was still required to attend lessons and learn, say, how to ride a horse-- but she had alot more free time than he did. She discovered her love for reading, and being able to travel to another place or even another world without leaving her room. But that doesn't mean she stays holed up in her room all the time-- she loves being outside. Riding her horse or even just walking, she loves exploring the woods and grounds near her home.

What does your character think about the whole Selection?: While she is a little bit of a romantic, and she does long to travel, she is a little anxious about being so far away. But she's also excited and cant wait to meet new people.

Personality: Evelyn is a very sweet and charming individual. Evelyn stands up for what she believes is right, and she will do anything to help someone if they need it. Her positive personality makes people feel warm and welcome, and she loves to make others laugh. She can be stubborn at times and follows her heart for a lot of things. Evelyn has a lot of great characteristics but there are a few that may be considered not so great. She tends to have a temper. Sure she has patience when she isn't being confronted harshly but if one starts yelling at her, its fair game. Loving is hard for Evie, for all her life she thought that no one was around to actually care and love for her. Trusting is another issue that she has with people, but she works hard and makes an effort.
Likes:
Writing (poetry especially)
reading
laughing
Singing.
Dislikes:
Rejection
Being Alone
Nighttime
ignorant people

Background: Evelyn was abandoned as a young child by her parents. The typical leave your child on the front steps of an orphanage in the pouring rain type of abandonment, but Evelyn never let it get to her. As she grew up being rejected by countless families, she became comfortable with the fact that she would be alone forever. Evelyn never was angry with her parents, she just wanted to understand why. Just like she wanted to understand why she wasn't good enough to be adopted. Evelyn spent most of her time in the orphanage helping out with the other children and in the kitchen often. She was a child of the orphanage up until the age of 18, when she became non adoptable as an adult. But Evelyn found herself unable to leave the only home that she ever knew and decided to become employed as one of the staff.
What does your character think about the whole Selection?: She really isn't sure about the whole process....but she isn't opposed to it.
What does your character feel about having freedom in finding/selecting a soulmate?: It might be easy to find someone here, but she feels as though she really doesn't deserve to have one.

Name: Erym Demitrius Scarborough
sprouhtt sprouhtt

Age (18-25): 23 - 13/Feb
Gender: Male
Title: Prince
Occupation: Selective - Second in line to Adwindon, the Northern Kingdom - notorious for its nautical trade and technological achievements.

Appearance (Realistic please): ERYM.jpg

Personality: Erym is a calm, focused young man - who likes nothing better than to think about complex things, in great detail, over long periods of time. Publically he will smile, charm, and compliment anyone to their heart's content. Internally he will be far away in his books, in his notes or his lecture halls - debating anything from politics, economics, philosophy, psychology, geography, medicine to literature. His general disinterest in the human condition does not make him immune to social needs - and he tends to sniff out anyone even remotely interesting within any gilded hall before the first toasts ring. He is not interested in ruling in his brother's place - but has a vested interest in seeing his country spared any conflict possible - as he truly believes that war undermines the development needed to ensure the prosperity of the human race.

Likes: Art, Reading, Music, Harpsichord, Politics, Science, Economics, Boats, Scarves, Whiskey, and Cooking

Dislikes: War, Chaos, Stupidity, Sport, Running, Popularity contests, People who like Popularity Contests, Animals, Beer, and Mud

Background: As the spare of the throne, Erym has had to work just a little bit harder than his elder brother in order to receive the same amount of acclaim - at least that's what everyone would think. Within the family, it is no secret that he is by far in away the smarter, wiser, politer and more innovative of the two. His disinterest in rule seemed to calm his father into the conviction that Erym's brother should retain his right to rule, while Erym would continue to do the actual work in the background. As it is, Erym promised to travel to other countries, negotiate trade deals, oversee development of their fleet and keep the peace - while his brother would remain and play king.

As a young boy, he was quiet, brilliant and a bit of a hermit. The social aspects that pervade the regency, however, inevitably caught up with him and he reluctantly took to social schooling. His teachers managed to convince him that all social interaction could be viewed as hypercomplex versions of his favourite strategy games - wherein no two players ever had the same pieces, and the rules constantly changed. They taught him the tools to use when moving about these waters, and he very quickly proved a natural - reading people and situations with a level of skill that bordered on prodigious. Outside of academics, however, he was hopeless - having horrible depth perception and hand-eye coordination. His night blindness also leaves him slightly fumbling in the dark. It has led to him hating the outdoors, and physical activity in general.

While he travelled, he always took with him at least two or three tutors - retired professors and other experts in various fields, gifts in lieu the racehorses and villas his brother tended to ask for, with which he would spend evenings conversing. Over time he has managed to develop a vast reference network and very rarely cannot add to or refine a conversation or debate. In order to keep his mind sharp, he has taken to learning foreign languages, composing music for the harpsichord and drawing the wonders he had seen on his travels from memory.

This need to be informed and refine his understanding of the world has led to him having a rather clinical view of the world, very rarely experiencing awe or wonder anymore. This has demurred his nature somewhat and makes it hard for him to sympathise and empathise with other people. Secretly he worries that he would not be able to find anyone interesting at the selection - and/or not be valiant enough to draw the attention of someone who was interesting enough to draw his attention in turn.

What does your character think about the whole Selection?: He finds it a necessity and is willing to spend his life with another, should that individual secure peace. He worries however at being able to maintain a charming personality over such a long period and hopes to find someone who shares his ideals, so as to perhaps make it easier for him to empathise with and understand them.

What does your character feel about having freedom in finding/selecting a soulmate?: He would love to find someone who understands him, but it comes secondary to his country and the safety and prosperity of his people.

Name: Rickert Adalric Emir
sprouhtt sprouhtt

Age (18-25): 22 - 1/Jul
Gender: Male
Title: Prince
Occupation: Selective - Crown Prince of Gallant - A Southern kingdom known for its vast armies and excellent soldiers - as well as its long summers and brisk short winters.

Appearance (Realistic please):

dc6a6406272df582030fc80cebf78cfa.jpg

Personality: Rickert is a charming young man, first in line for his throne. From a young age he has studied and experienced combat and arms - and as such is well versed in war and its destructive capacities. He won't speak much of war, even though he realises that perhaps - that is the only thing he knows how to speak of. He will instead remain quiet, and listen attentively to whatever someone else is saying. He makes up for his quiet by being especially gracious and valiant in a variety of sports and dancing - where he shows his confidence and determined nature. He is not eager to take his place as King and would prefer that his father rule for as long as possible - so that he can remain in the field.

Likes: Horses, sports, jousting, fencing, dancing, listening, being useful, listening to singing or poetry

Dislikes: Talking about war, negative people, quiet people, salads, oppression of the weak

Background: Rickert was born to glorious celebration and fanfare - as the queen and king, who had been trying to conceive for many years welcomed him into the world, along with the entirety of his future realm. His life started with feasts, and celebrations always seemed to remain - whether it was because of a birthday, a holiday, a victory on the battlefield, or the remembrance of the glorious dead. He was never shielded from the reality that was his life, and his future - war would be his trade. His country, which spanned great swathes of the Southern Realms - had money, power, resources, and land. Land that was perfect for growing and living. While they never turned away stragglers, nor refused to share their wealth - it seemed that other countries would always try and capture some part of their country - or the country of their allies. The price of flourishing was constant vigil and preparations.

Since his eighteenth birthday, he was part of the royal army - where he worked from the lowest positions possible, slowly moving up in rank - refusing any promotions until he believed that he was ready for the responsibility. This has made him popular among his peers, among the war effort, among the citizens and most of all - his father, who never ceased to show how proud he was of his brilliant boy.

He has come to the meeting now, not to consolidate the power of his country - but to find love. He did not have the free time to court and meet anyone his parents would approve of - so he decided that he would take this opportunity to find love under the guise of building international relations. Neither of his parents fell for it but wished him all the luck and love in the world before he left.

What does your character think about the whole Selection?: He will spend this time trying to find someone, and thinks that this is perhaps the best place to find someone who will not only understand his position but will also allow him to help his country and - understand that time is not something he has a lot of - and agree that the best thing to do in this case, would be to embrace the present!

Being raised as the first born, some would expect a snooty, higher-than-thou attitude. Some who expects only the best, and will not settle for anything less. But that isn't Elinor. The only child to be born to the king and queen of Dál Riata, she's always lived her life in the confines of her castle. It was only her teachings from her caretaker that told her of the outside. Everything was perfect with her around, until the day she was removed.
Elinor's mother, jealous of the bond between her daughter and caretaker, banished her from the grounds. Elinor hasn't forgiven her mother, and probably never will.
Elinor had met a servant when she as 16 named Alan Stewart. Every night for a year, she would sneak off just to spend time with him. One day, a guard caught the both of them in Elinor's bedroom. Her father, furious at the servant, had banished him from the kingdom. And for that, her father would go unforgiven.
What does your character think about the whole Selection?:
Elinor loves this idea, as it allows much more freedom in who she'll spend the rest of her life with.

Alexandrine Daucourt

Age:
20

Gender:
Female

Title
Princess from a French kingdom called
Aysel

Occupation:
Selective

tumblr_mi0otdqjuB1r97zeto2_250.gif

Personality:
Alexandrine is a manipulative, cold-hearted young woman. Alex was once a young, naive woman. But after a series of events she's become manipulative, always planning one step ahead, seductive and knows exactly how to get what she wants from almost anybody. She determined and stubborn, and wills anybody to believe she doesn't care for anybody once they see past her clever act. She's calaculative and most would compare her to a snake. She'll deny that she ever truly loved anyone but deep down she may just care for you, and if she cares enough she may just give you a glimpse of herself or more. Just make sure your not a liability, or on her bad side. Because in most people's eyes, Alexandrine's always one step ahead.

Likes:
+ Anything to drink
+ Good comfort
+ Living in wealth
+ Secrets
+ Being in control
+ Art

Dislikes:
+ Not getting her way
+ People fouling her plans
+ People trying to see whom she truly is
+ Love
+ Being without wealth
+ Perfect people

Background:
Aysel is a cruel kingdom harshly set in its ways. Where there is a fine line between the rich and poor, and generally the poor consisted of families starving to death while the rich layed back and watched the show. Alexandrine was not a princess, though as a girl she dreamed to be one. She watched as a little girl as her family starved off of cat-soup (Even though her mother insisted it was chicken, too many cats had gone missing) She watched two younger sister be carried off in a stretcher, their corpses stiff and skinny. She watched the King and Queen ride by, beautiful and well fed, riding in luxury that could by them a months worth of lavish dinners. She watched the little eldest prince smile and giggle and wave at the commoners, so naive to the cruel world they indured. Alexandrine was the same way. Both were around the same age, but while Alexandrine knew of their situation, an entire family of eight cramped into one small shack, she was a dreamer. A young naive girl. She dreamed to be an actor, or a playwright. She sat on the roof and gazed at the beautiful blue, gold and marble palace. Her mother called them silly dreams but as she grew up her and her father made playwrights on the street, it was banned due to some content being offense apparently, so they did puppet shows instead. They had been doing a puppet show when it happened. And her mother was right.

She wished she'd never followed her dreams.

A small crowd had gathered at the stand, it was evening and they had made little of course, before the crowd began muttering harsh cursed words under their breath, a few young children stared in awe as the royal family rode by on one of their rare visits into the city. Alexandrine and her father hadn't noticed until their jokes no longer made the crowd laugh. When they stood the went pale as she started upon the royal family.
Eloise, The Queen herself stared down upon the young teen, her face of disgust, while she tried to hide a smile from beneath her fan. King Orlèn was not amused, his face lined and firm, but he saw how the youngest prince, Charles giggled and clapped, and how the eldest prince, Renè gazed upon her with a lovers awe. And so a gold coin was tossed to her feet.

It was that evening she was invited to the palace. It would be stupid to refuse the King. She stood before the man with a hint of resentment in her eyes. He offered her a job. Make the little prince laugh, keep him happy, do whatever she must to do so. Care for him like a nanny, and live in the palace. Alexandrine wanted to refuse, she did not want to be a nanny for a spoiled fat prince, she wanted to be a playwright! But the King did not allow her the choice. Instead she was forced to bid farewell to her family in a day, grab her belongings and head back to the palace.

And so the years passed. Alexandrine grew an attachment to little Charles. She snagged treats for him, scared guests with him, went to royal parties with him, and more. Renè had become infatuated with Alexandrine as she blossomed into a young teen with him. Renè taunted and teased her like a boy would, he pranked and pushed her around. Charles was innocent, he did not see the world as it was. But Renè and Alexandrine did. Renè was a beautiful looking man, but he was ungrateful and selfish. He began to toy with women as he grew, like they were a game. And he realized the line between royalty and Alexandrine.

Renè looked at her like a pet. And she looked at him like an enemy. Toying with her became more deadly and threatening, and all she could was bite her tongue. When Alexandrine was seventeen Renè had burst into her room in the early morning hours, claiming profound love for her. When she admitted she did not love him, he slapped her in a fit of rage before storming out of her room. He must have mentioned something to his father because she was informed that evening by Renè she'd be wed to him when she came of age, choice or no. Alexandrine was enraged. So one night she snuck out of the palace, when she had finished planning and finally decided to put her plan into action. Prince Renè had gotten ill during an important dinner between monarchies to discuss trade and other such things, when he suddenly became ill and threw up all over the table in front of everyone. The family was humiliated. Renè and the King enraged that someone had poisoned the food and caused Renè to get sick. Renè suspected it was perhaps one of the visiting Prince's, the King knew better, and would make sure Alexandrine never humiliate them again.

A few days after the incident Alexandrine was informed she'd be marrying Renè early by the King himself, before he discreetly suggested she visit her family to tell them of the "great" news. But when she came into town with Renè and an entourage a seventeen year old Alexandrine discovered her shack covered in blood, her families bodies strewn about the home, slaughtered in the most gruesome way. Renè had known of the plan beforehand, and as the guards restrained an angrahed and grief-stricken Alexandrine and he said one thing;

"Never again should a peasant humiliate the Daucourt family again."

His words were cold.

His body was colder.

In a few short months after discovering her dead family, and marrying Renè she'd wrapped the family around her little finger. Alexandrine had changed completely. The Queen adored her, and had no knowledge of her dead family's killers, or that she had poisoned Renè. The people loved their new princess, Charles looked up to her like a sister and she would soon become Queen with Renè at her side. Renè was easily swayed by her charms and slick words, she directed his cruel attitude towards his own family, except for Charles, became a daughter to the Queen, a sign of hope for the people, and lastly a secret mistress to the King. So nobody suspected that two years later she would assassinate Renè in the gardens one evening. Her alibis was perfect, and she pointed the fingers at a servant girl that "wanted Renè for herself." Alexandrine played the grief-stricken widow perfectly.

Of course, she couldn't rule Aysel without a King due to the law. So when the opportunity to find a "true love" and make allies? It was a perfect move and after some hard earned persuasion from the King, Alexandrine was permitted to go for the better of the kingdom. After all, the King was getting old and Charles was just a young boy. It would all come into place.

What does your character think about the whole Selection?:
"I'm so grateful to make future allies, I think it's a lovely opportunity to get to know my allies...and my enemies."

What does your character feel about having freedom in finding/selecting a soulmate?:
"There's so many lovely gentlemen. However will I choose?"

What does your character think about the whole Selection?: "Hey, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. What if one of 'em turns out to be the one?"
What does your character feel about having freedom in finding/selecting a soulmate?: "I'm glad to have the freedom. I just hope she likes me, too."
Other: He sounds more "Brooklyn rage" than Irish. Because of this, a few of the kids at school said he "talked funny."
