Abilities/powers:
Shadow Dash
Noah can dash up to 30ft in a line in any given direction at will, keeping all momentum on the x-axis (up and down momentum is not kept), which always happens in 0.2 seconds. Noah can only dash onto a solid mass, meaning that he can dash while jumping, but only onto a solid mass, and that he can't dash into the air. Noah may not dash through solid objects, but if dashing into a solid mass, Noah can choose to keep momentum equal to the speed he is travelling, essentially throwing himself directly at the mass. Noah has a pool of Will, which is the resource required to dash voluntarily. Noah's Will pool has 100 points and a passive regeneration of 5 points/s. Each feet of voluntary dashing takes up 10 points of Will. Hitting the limit of his Will pool will exhaust him significantly and cause whispers to appear.

When Noah dashes he temporarily becomes enveloped in black smoke, which trails off behind him, behaving like regular smoke, and dissapears 1 second after the dash is completed. Noah's eyesight is not affected by the smoke and his sillouette can be seen clearly in it. The smoke smells somewhat like gunpowder, but extinguishes any fire enveloped by it.

Involuntary dashes may occur if Noah is tired, excited, nervous or angry and potentially at random. Noah sometimes keeps his momentum when involuntary dashing occurs and sometimes doesn't. They don't cost Will points.

Noah can potentially attain more Will points/s or a larger Will pool given training, and possibly unlock new abilities related to Shadow Dash.

The exact source of his powers is unknown.

This is of course nothing but mechanics made to balance and explain Noah's powers. Noah doesn't have knowledge of all of the mechanics, but knows the basics.

Backstory:
Noah grew up in an average suburban household, not knowing lots about supernaturals or "superpowers", at least not the real ones. He was a very reserved child, often choosing to browse his computer and play video-games, rather than spend time with other kids. Still, Noah was a pretty normal kid with decent grades, and somehow remained unbullied throughout most of middleschool, keeping himself to a small circle of friends, all like-minded him. He was pretty satisfied with life, living as a normal teenager, until the nightmares began.

Noah started waking up to smoke in his room and dark whispers in his ears, unable to move out of fear, convinced by the seeming realness of the voices, but still, he convinced himself that they were nightmares, and nothing more. For a couple months he tried to ignore the voices, while slowly isolating himself from his friends and family, in fear of succumbing to the temptation of pleasuring the voices to go away. The whispers slowly grew darker, telling him to murder and arson, but he kept ignoring them, until he started moving rapidly in random directions at random. As soon as he experienced this, he confessed to his parents about the whispers. Noah stayed at home for a while, going through therapy and other such things, in an attempt to heal him of this curse, but none worked. After a while his parents got in contact with the Osiria Academy and he was offered a invitation. Desperate, they accepted and now Noah is on his way to Osiria Academy.

Personality:
Noah is shy and reserved, but not to the point of isolating himself. He tries to go by without people putting too much attention on him and is generally spotlight-averting. Noah, like everyone else, becomes much more open when befriended, potentially going from soft-spoken to ecstatic, and is generally a loyal friend once made. He has started having a more positive attitude towards his power, looking at it as a curse that potentially could be harnessed, despite the frequent involuntary dashes into lockers.

Additional skills:
Taekwondo
Noah trained taekwondo for 2 years in his teens, mostly because his friends did, but he still remembers some of it and is minorly capable in hand-to-hand combat. Noah is in decent shape.

Name: Siolta

Race: Marsher

Sex: Male

Age: 25

Occupation: Monk

Appearance:
Siolta is a 5 feet tall bright green marsher, but much wider than a human and with smooth skin dotted with imperfections. He has short arms and legs a bit longer, but he is very stocky, even for marshers. He has big yellow eyes, a big green mouth and red spots along the edges of his frog-ish skull, almost making up for the lack of hair. He bears a brown monk robe, alike that of the thai monks with one shoulder uncovered. He wears a rope that is tied across his body from right shoulder to the left of his waist, where on the back a giant light-brown-ish bottle gourd is bound the rope, carrying 6 gallons of water in it. On the rope he has a small pouch to the left of his waist. He carries a small woven basket with the contents for making green tea (kettle, cups, sugar and so on).

Backstory:
Siolta comes from a small fishing village, one of the few remaining, in The Shallows. His childhood withstood of fishing and hunting without any real luxuries, as the marshers don’t have any trade-routes set up, nor a lot of resources. As is traditional in marsher culture, Siolta didn’t have a close bond with either of his parents during his childhood. Siolta remained in the village until he was involved in a hunting accident, which resulted in one of his close friends getting killed. Siolta isolated himself after incident, blaming himself for not being more aware. This let him to train his “watersense”, an ability attained by training water wild magic, that allows you to sense movement within water, one which the best marsher hunters rely on. Using his freetime on nothing but training his watersense, to the point of completely isolating himself from anyone when not hunting, he became very proficient in water magic and hunting with a spear, putting him in the spot as the best hunter in his village.

Despite the praise from other hunters and his undeniable skill, Siolta remained unappeased about his ability. Now having found somewhat peace with himself, he continued training in hunting for a couple years with very little progress, until he decided to seek out a mentor and try to find peace with himself. He traveled through Terra Aestas along rivers, encountering the cities surrounding them, asking for guidance from townsfolk, with no results. One day, he encountered a temple besides the river and the rest is history.

Siolta has now trained in the temple for a couple of years and has improved his water magic so much as to be able to bend water use it as a weapon, even more so than his spear, as he is capable of cooling it to ice when needed.

Personality:
Serious when the situation calls for it, but normally pretty amiable, as his monk years have lightened him up significantly. Still, he’s alert to a point of paranoia when in an environment he isn’t used to and can be found clutching his spear out of reflex. Courageous and confident if needed, but otherwise pretty timid and avoidant of confrontation.

Skills:
Spear use
Siolta is proficient with a spear and can hold his own with one in terms of combat. He is very precise when attacking, but lacks in blocking and generally relies on dodging attacks when fighting with a spear. He has a hard time using any spear that isn’t extremely light-weight like the traditional bone one he has brought with him from his village.

Water Magic
Siolta can move, propel and change the temperature of water. He can heat it to a little below boiling temperature and cool it to 0 degrees celsius. He can’t make water appear and carries around a giant calabash bottle gourd filled with approximately 6 gallons (23 litres) of water which he uses when needed. He typically uses water in combination with martial arts, often using the water as an extension of his hands, propelling it like a fist in front of and around his arms and hands. If intent is lethal and his opponent isn’t armored he will cool the water to ice after he’s propelled it, effectively firing bolts of ice at his opponent.

Hand-to-Hand combat
Siolta is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, or rather water-to-hand combat, as it is a required skill when taught how to waterbend in the way of the flowing fist. He knows an equivalent to taekwondo, with focus on attacking and avoiding attacks.

Frog-ish
As a marsher, Siolta is capable of leaping roughly 30 ft (9 meters) in lengtht and 20 ft (6 meters) in height. He is also capable of swimming about 12 mph (19 kph). His build is very stocky, leading him to be much more durable than the average human.

Allies:
Kurt Angler, a fisherman whom Siolta met and made friends with while fishing on his way to the temple. He is located along the riverside in one of the bigger cities and runs the biggest fishing business in town. The two of them collaborated and Kurt developed a very weak watersense after some training with Siolta.

Aris, one of Siolta’s only real friends from his village, during his time training. Alis would participate in nearly every hunt Siolta went on, typically just admiring him, but he also was one of the people to encourage Siolta to travel in an attempt to find a deeper meaning with life and a mentor to teach him waterbending.

Albert Onchovi, one of the monks to tutor Siolta and a great friend to him. Albert taught Siolta how to propel and manipulate water when not in water. He’s a great believer in new talent and can be found in towns near the temple, trying to find a potential student, typically inviting them for green tea if successful.

Enemies:
Loro, the previous ‘best’ hunter in Siolta’s marsher village. He dislikes watersense and uses it sparingly, while instead being incredibly good at spotting movements with his eyes. He is arguably better with a spear than Siolta, and is annoyed that Siolta took the spotlight from him for couple of years.

Carl Cornell, a human monk which Albert taught before Siolta, but stopped mentoring, as Siolta had more potential. He is angry at Siolta for ruining the bond between him and Albert, despite accepting that Siolta was a more skilled waterbender.

Nim Alder, a human thief who attempted to pickpocket Siolta, which resulted in Siolta exposing him in front of the guards, leading to him being arrested and punished, leading to him losing all land which resulted in his family having to live under very poor conditions. He is determined to get his revenge if he ever meets Siolta again.
