Estrael. A nation in its death throes. Once the proudest and most powerful of the kingdoms of man, it is in the state of collapse, kept alive only by inertia. The noble houses of the kingdom are at each others throats, seeing the chaotic state as a time to settle old debts and to expand their land. Bandits plague the kingdom, peasants and vagabonds driven to murderous and thieving acts, preying on the weak out of neccisity and desperation. Monsters prowl the woods and the untamed wilderness, eager to strike back at the now crumbling civilization that had once brought them to the brink of extinction.

And then there is your ilk.

Sellswords.

Little more than vultures, feasting upon the bloated corpse of the Estraelen Empire. Where others suffer, you prosper. Wherever there is work to be done, dirty, bloody, work, you are there, grimly doing what must be done.

There is no honor in your line of work. You serve no master, no god beyond that of copper, silver, and gold. You will do anything, take any job, for a price.

What is your story, mercenary?

Hello all, and welcome to Coin and Blood! A low fantasy world set in the crumbling and decayed Estraelen Empire, in which you take the role of a mercenary captain, commanding your motley crew of underlings not for some grand ideal or mission, but in pursuit of the next paycheck! This takes heavy inspiration from games such as Dark Souls, Battle Brothers, and just a tad bit of Warhammer Fantasy to spice things up. The narrative will be cruel, mean, and just downright unfair at some points, forcing you to make sacrifices and hard decisions. Remember, your job is to get paid, not to right every wrong you see. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an @ or a mention!

[ ]-Mercenary- You are a hardened sellsword, veteran of many campaigns. After a particularly brutal contract against a bandit warlord, you find yourself in command of the remnants of your warband, on account of you being the only commanding officer left alive.

Starts with average equipment for your company, a modest amount of supplies, and three other mercenaries.

[ ]-Peasants Militia- You are a commander of a local militia garrison. The hamlet you were stationed in were assualted by bandits. Though you were able to fight them off, the village was sacked and many people were killed. After escorting the remainder of the village populace to a safer location, you gave the remaining militiamen under your command a choice. Leave, and stay here with their families, or join you, and become a sellsword. Whether out of a desire to provide for their families, revenge, or wanderlust, some of the militia opted to remain with you.

Starts with very poor equipment for your company, a modest amount of supplies, and nine militiamen.

[ ]-Wandering Knight- You are a Hedge Knight, sworn in service to no lord, earning a meager living strong arming peasants and terrorizing brigands. After a particularly vicious fight leaves you battered and bloodied, you begin to wonder if there are some other, more well paying, avenues...

Starts with very good equipment, no supplies beyond that for yourself, and no other companions. You start out slightly wounded.

[ ]-Houndmaster: A expert dogbreeder, you became tired of your safe and comfortable life licking the boots of nobles and being forced to give up your precious dogs, you opted o leave and find fortune and fame alongside a number of your viciously protective pets.

Starts with average average equipment, no supplies beyond that for yourself and your hounds, and three war dogs.

Oh, this is open to anybody, right?
