In 1306 DR also known as the Year of Thunder the great god Moradin gave to the Dwarves a mighty boon known as the Thunder Blessing or The Thundering. He and the other gods of the Dwarven Pantheon would split the soul of many dwarves in two when they were to be reincarnated and most Dwarves born in that year were twins, and in the subsequent years the Dwarven birthrate was generally increased, though not to the same degree of the year of Thunder. This was seen as a great blessing by the Dwarves of the Forgotten Realms as it replenished much of their number that was lost in the many wars of the past. But to the Gold Dwarves of the Great Rift it was less well received, for unlike many of their kinsmen they stood strong for many years and maintained much of their strength. So when Moradin gave the Dwarves this blessing it caused overcrowding in the Deep Realm of the Dwarven homeland. It is now 1360 DR and the Dwarves born in the year of Thunder are mostly grown and looking to leave the overcrowded Kingdom of the Great Rift and settle new lands. Some have chosen to go aboveground and seek new Mountain Holds but many have also chosen to push further into the Underdark that the Gold Dwarves call home and exploit the wealth therein. You are of the latter group, a collection of Gold Dwarves and a possible Deep Gnome guide that seek to colonize the Underdark. You can be any class and any subrace of Dwarf (although hill dwarf is recommended) or (maybe) a Deep Gnome. Keep in mind that the Gold Dwarves are much more likely to have an Arcane Spellcaster among them than other dwarves although they still are more likely to have divine spellcasters like Clerics and Paladins.
