Amelia smirked as her companion played along. Being a warrior wasn't all bad. Sure, she might as well be dead, but nobody danced like the dead. The smirk faded to a dead serious facade as the Yoma broke into the household. Asteria danced majestically between their attacks. Amelia had never seen someone so graceful. There wasn't much attack power behind it, but considering how much attention she was gathering, that was alright. That was an offensive claymore's job.

One hell of a good dancer I have with me.

Amelia waited a second before jumping in though. The yoma couldn't get too suspicious. Making haggard breathes, Amelia bit her own lip, and 'coughed' up blood, disappearing from their sights completely as a disabled fighter. Good. After the claw grazed Asteria's cheek, Amelia moved. In an instant, she shoved the claymore through the yoma's skull with both hands, her scorpion tail nailing the Yoma behind it. Two kills in less than a second. With Asteria still dancing gracefully, Amelia swung at her own companion, who would be more than apt to dodge it, turning it from friendly fire to obstructing the yoma behind its vision, slicing clear through its head. And that was all the easy kills Amelia would get from that fight. It did highlight Amelia's strange comment earlier:

Amelia said:
"I'm not exactly a combat specialist."

She was much more of an assassin than a fighter. Catching off guard opponents she'd kill them either before or after they'd believed the fight was going on. The biggest problem here was that it would only work so many times before even Yoma, dumb as they were, caught on.

"You know, if we were keeping count, I would add those three to you, they clearly were too enamored to notice lil' ol' me. Number's might be annoying, but might help me find you later. I'm #37, Amelia, the Scorpion. My crest is the one that looks like a scorpion, too."

1530590555525.png
The yoma were a bit surprised, but it wasn't enough to make them flee. They had the house completely surrounded, and it was only two claymores inside. Amelia took a deep breath and raised her yoki energy enough to change her eyes.

"I know, I know, you said you didn't want me to turn, but heads up, my little scorpion tail takes a fair bit of yoki to use, and needs a bit to recharge between shots. I think we'll get out of here, but not before I hit close to my limit. Hopefully only about 50%."

Out of the corner of her eye Amelia saw a Yoma's arm out the window. Her braid shot out, piercing the wall, and a gurgling sound from the outside signaled she'd nailed its throat. Her teeth started to sharpen. There were so many more yoma to kill. On one hand, great day, on the other hand, getting pretty annoying. There was something else Amelia didn't dare say. Yoma didn't often coordinate. At least not to this extent. Yoma were predators. They would only work together for schemes that, you know, worked. Maybe one was bright and convinced the others, but considering one group had attacked civilians while others were being slaughtered, that meant it wasn't the reasoning. It meant they feared something more than the claymore. Well, whatever it was, hopefully, their leader would take care of it.

She heard a scared claymore calling out in the distance and rolled her eyes. Normally she'd love live bait, but she was a wee bit busy. Even Amelia could note a warrior around him spike in Yoki usage, so the screaming claymore was probably fine. The energy spiking felt down right vicious, and so Amelia decided she might as well finish off things here. An elongated finger pierced her shoulder pad, calling her back to reality. Amelia sliced it off, and a shot from her hair finished off the Yoma. Asteria might notice her muscles starting to bulge.

Several spear like appendages shot at Nellia as soon as she opened the door, spearing her twice through the torso, once through the right shoulder, and another in her left hip. Two golden eyes turned to gaze at its catch. The eyes were attack to a large Yoma, one bristling with thorn like spikes all over its body. Its skin was gray and weathered, more so than the usual yoma. This yoma was more than twice as tall as Melody, who was pretty tall for a human.

“Don’t interrupt me meal, worm. The small ones were supposed to deal with you lot,” the yoma growled in a scratchy male voice. Its hand was extended out towards Nellia, its finger the spears that skewered her. With its free hand, the yoma held half of a human corpse, it was dripping with fresh blood.

“Posing as the old man that sent for you lot wasn’t easy. But it seems things aren’t going our way. Hiding my Yoki was too much trouble. I’ll just kill these claymore and be off before any more are sent here.”

With that said, the Yoma flung Nellia through the wall of the building, sending her crashing into the next one over. Good thing such an average claymore was a defensive type.
After taking another bite out of the corpse in its grasp, the yoma burst up through the roof of the building, crashing down to atop it, the hole behind it.

“Which one of these worms should I eviscerate first...” the yoma scanned the village, looking for another warrior to attack.

Melody
#30

The sudden burst of Yoki from the center of the village, followed by several loud crashes instantly caught Melody’s attention. She had just stepped out of a small home, leaving two dead yoma and two frightened humans. Even she could tell this yoma that has just appeared was stronger than the rest. It had taken its time to show its face. It would be hard for the warriors to dight it with lesser yoma still scurrying about.

“What a predicament...” Melody whispered. Before leaping back atop a building. She dashed atop a couple rooftops, stopping near the center building the gray yoma squattes upon.

“Well, you sure took your time joining the fight,” Melody said to the yoma.

The yoma turned, its neck cracking. “So you’re first? Fine, I’ll be sure to tear you apart.”

Melody shot the yoma a warm smile. “I wouldn’t expect you to try anything less!”

Alexandria made quick work of the Yoma. Without a fight, her bloodlust didn't seem to consume her--but she certainly seemed to enjoy cutting through the dense flesh and bone all the same. Her ability to leave their forms in bloody, dismembered messes far exceeded his own in ease, speed, and by far and large creativity. She painted the ground with their blood and left their grotesque, flesh-filled entrails splayed across the ground like some type of new-age art. Ranks didn't matter. Alexandria far exceeded his ability to kill Yoma. And, while he personally found her annoying, it was not outside of his ability to appreciate and even admire her ability to so ruthlessly slaughter these creatures.

That moment of silent flattery aside, Somnus broke his stance and darted over to Alexandria. Doing this broke the area of effect and allowed two Yoma in the distance to slowly begin to regain control of themselves, but it was about time they actually started to work as more than independent killers. She had cut through the immediate Yoma, so there were none for him to really target on the way. He arrived with her retrieving her dirks. His eyes still showed the distinct silver shine of a Claymore. Something he notably didn't have last time she laid eyes on him.

"In the center of town, there's a hazy signature of a unique Yoma. A warrior I haven't met has already engaged it. I'd wager that it's more dangerous than any of these... pests," he told Alexandria, staring her down with his Silver eyes--albeit they lost none of their icy gaze. He still held that control. "Let's pair up so that you can cut these down and we can fight something a little more interesting," he suggested. There were still plenty of frozen Yoma, but together, they could make quick work of them, then rush off to help. This ran the risk of Alexandria running off to fight the other Yoma--as Somnus thought about it--but it was a risk he was willing to take.

In any case, he wasn't continuing this battle without at least one partner. He killed everything slower. His ability alone wasn't nearly as useful. He couldn't even make use of his other skills. Acting as bait--while useful in saving lives--made him far less useful to everyone else on the battlefield. In fact, most of the surviving villagers were likely those saved due to the Yoma avoiding his field. He chose the tactic because Melody said to save as many villagers as possible. Hindsight was 20/20 and he wasn't going to make that same mistake again.

#45 Nellia, the bleeding stone

Now, Nellia expected something bad when she opened that door, maybe to gag a little, but being speared 4 times was not exactly only her list of things she'd want to have happen on a day to day basis. and being tossed away through the air like a piece of trash, even less so. Who would want that to happen? nobody! Not even tougher defensive types would care for this on a good day(though it could be their "thing" but she ain't the girl to judge).

Still, she was surprised, she was thrown rather far, as she contemplated healing herself she looked towards where she was landing just in the moment that she collided into the window of a building, landing on a table, cracking it in two, bouncing off and out a window on the other side. She would have landed upon the ground had another house not had been nearby, but breaking through a wall was not going to be easy, as such turning her skin to iron once more she splintered the wall and landed unceremoniously upon a screeching pair of Yoma, splattering the things into a bloody mess as she skidded across the floor for abit more with the horrendous sound of steel on steel piercing the occupants ears.

"HOOOOOOOOOOO BOY THAT HURT!" shouted Nellia as she pulled piece of wood out of her slowly healing wounds, suddenly perking up from a rather painful looking fall. It was around then she found, she wasn't alone anymore!! And found it hard to stand, damn hip wound. Looking to her newly found fellows she gave a small wave, flipping over from her face down position to look at them, and wiggle a bit more their way. "Hi! sorry I'm late, you wouldn't IMAGINE how annoying that marsh is!" she tried to ignore the pain and the.. tingly feeling of using yoki.

"Call me Nell, I'm number 45. Defensive type." the woman(?) stated as she proped herself up on her arms, one still holding onto her sword. "So you two having fun or what?

#39 Asteria

The two Warriors were beginning to strain from the combat against the Yoma. Luckily Amelia’s quick hair attacks and her own defensive skills were starting to turn the tide as the Yoma fell. Asteria let go of her mist letting it fade when there were only two Yoma left standing injured in the room.

Suddenly a huge burst of Yoki hit the center of the town. She instinctively turned her head to look at the source, as did the two Yoma. Aestria felt her spirit waver at the larger Yoki energy, feeling for the first time that her chances of survival were extremely low now, with this new threat. The Yoma seemed to sense her fear, and turned back with smiles of daggers. One of the monsters took a single step forward before the wall of the human home exploded and a Warrior landed on them. The Warrior's weight and speed turned the Yoma into smears on the human home… it was if they had been made of steal or stone.

The Warrior popped up and introduced themselves as Nell #45. “Uuuhh… hello? I’m number 39, Asteria. Are you ok?” Asteria felt the other few remaining Yoma surrounding the home begin to retreat. Perhaps the sight of a metal flying Warrior and the bodies of several of their own dead at the hands of herself and Amelia were too much to keep their hungers for battle going any longer.

The larger Yoki aura was starting to move…

“Amelia, you’re the highest number. A much larger Yoki just appeared. It’s moving right now, what should we do… actually wait.” Asteria turned back towards number #45. “You came crashing in the same direction as the larger Yoki?”

Alexandria's blades sliced, diced, minced, and butchered the yoma that surrounded the dark haired claymore. The death of each yoma soothed Alexandria's soul, a past time that even wood carving can't even beat. Their organs, muscles, bodily fluids and bone were scattered everywhere in the range of Somnus. Not only did she enjoy her self, but went into a state of bliss. Alexandria was in an eligant T stands with dirks in each of her hands as she basked in her delight; until the 'man' interrupted her. The look she gave him left no doubt that he had interupted something very important to her.

Somnus explained to Alexandria what he had felt, an unique signature towards the center of the town. She looked into his icy silver eyes and then towards the center of town. A tall grotesque yoma stood tall on a building with dozens of quill-like appendages sticking out of it. Though it was not the only thing on top of a building, Alexandria could see the upper half of Melody on a different building. "I believe you mean that delicious hunk of meat on that building over there." She said and pointed towards the large yoma. "I think I overheard you talking to Melody earlier. Didn't you say you were useless against large yoma such as that, and you have had a problem with these pest." She spoke bluntly with a deeper raspy voice. "I don't know what you can do against that thing except die, and I would rather you stay alive." She tilted her head to the left and tried to sound cheery and caring.

"I would love for you to explain how you do this, and also grow to be able to help real claymores with actual skill with the sword." Alexandria said and walked past Somnus; she put her dirks away and grabbed her claymore. "I've found something more interesting that our fearless leader may need help with. Either hold these Yoma until us ladies finish off that big bad beast, or kill them and join us. Your choice, but please don't die. She rushed off and cut down the few frozen yoma in her way. She jumped up onto a building with an offset of 90 degrees from Melody of the beast. She pushed her claymore an inch into the buildings roof and rested her hands on the guards.

'Hey big boy. Do you think you can handle two of use ladies?" Alexandria taunted.

Asteria said:
“Amelia, you’re the highest number. A much larger Yoki just appeared. It’s moving right now, what should we do… actually wait.” Asteria turned back towards number #45. “You came crashing in the same direction as the larger Yoki?”

"Tch, didn't I tell you numbers were annoying. Don't you DARE mention my number again."

Amelia threw her sword at the last standing yoma as the rest started to flee. Kneeling on one knee, she ragged breaths steamed through her fanged teeth, her distorted face looking enraged. She breathed as slowly as she could before a few rapid ones came out. Coming down after going too hard was always annoying. One of these days Amelia was going to say screw it and go all the way. Then again, that would be one more yoma in the world, and that'd be a disgrace. Amelia first had to cut down their numbers. That was going to be her mark in the world. She wasn't a hero, all the big ones could stay alive for all she cared, but when she left the world, there WOULD be less.

She looked over to their newest addition to their family. Well, she seemed durable. Amelia could see 4 holes in her clothes, a splattered Yoma to her back, and she was still standing? She was friendly too. As Nellia talked, Amelia's face slowly reverted, letting her smile. Her eyes were still yellow, however.

"Oh, I know! I've still got muck in my boots. Still wondering how I'm going to get it out. Like Grimillin is the worst. So many marshes. Well, nice to meetcha. I'm Amelia. Well... hate to say those yoma got away, but we'll hunt them down later. Whoever's here normally will probably figure it out. Looks like we got a bigger fish to fry. Didn't want to mention it earlier, but all these yoma gotta have a leader. Wouldn't make sense otherwise. We didn't run into them. Normally I'm more interested in the small fry, but wouldn't you say it'd be rude not to fight him after all this? I mean, they've gone to such lengths to host this little party for us. Asteria, can you find out where their leader is, and lead us there? I still suck at sensing. Nellia was it? I love the, uh... Here, take a hair ribbon!"

Amelia reached into her abundance of hair decorations and handed her a small ribbon.

"So, will you be ready to go, champ? Three warriors are better than two! And something tells me whatever that berserker I felt earlier is probably going to join us. Wonder if that screaming claymore got done in? Going to guess so. Meh. And our leader whoever it is. Five total, maybe six, which is overkill methinks. Anyways, Imma go see if I can't steal a bar of soap, and I'll be good to go."

Amelia quickly ducked to through the rooms in the home, and came back wielding her sword, ready to follow where Asteria would dictate, her eyes finally back to normal.

Melody
#30

Melody glanced at the other warrior, Alexandria, who arrived to assist her. She did well to make an effort to surround the opponent.

“I’ll take your arrival to mean that the rest of the regular Yoma are wiped out. Hopefully the others arrive s- “ Melody was interrupted by the slash of the Yoma, who had dashed forward with impressive speed to attack Melody while she spoke.

“Die Claymore!” The Yoma growled.

Melody wasn’t totally unprepared however. She had drawn her sword and brought it in front of her just in time to save herself from a potentially lethal strike. The leathery gray Yoma lept backwards away from Melody, sticking its hand out towards Alexandria. Its wrinkly gray fingers shot forward at high speed, still in midair. If Alexandria was prepared, she could easily dodge them.

#45 Nellia

Nellia was about to answer Asteria's question when she spotted Amelia's ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS BRAID! Asteria's hair was that bad either~! But then Amelia gave her a ribbon! Oh gods above she was over the moon. "OH!?" she suddenly came back to earth, shaking her head slightly. "Uhh yea I just came form the main building in the center of town, thing said it was poseing as the old dude who sent for us... I mean, he said that before he tossed me away like wet trash but, yea know, defensive type and all that." the woman slowly began to stand up once again, tucking away the hair ribbon for safe keeping.

"Oh! i can lead you guys to! I mean I JUST got tossed her from there, so that makes it rather easy." her veins bulged from the swift recovery, but quickly subsided as the holes closed. She seemed quite happy to meet some of her new comrades, and being useful right out the gate was a plus! Even if she was.. pushing her limit to how many times she can reliably use that iron skin of hers...

"hey when this is over can I comb your hair? I'm so jealous of both of you~! So small and cute, and you have such a beautiful braid! Ugh.... I hate mine so much...." showing only one of the few feminine things about her Nellia began walking out of the place and pointed towards the direction she was tossed from. "That way, in the center of town is our foe, big boy, last i saw was antoher stronger looking claymore there so thats good. At least it'll be busy for awhile till we get there right?" she smiled to the two in her earnest way, a type of sweetness that made you think the author was going to kill the girl off without a second thought.

Or in such a horrible way you wont forget it for weeks.

Either way, she awaited her compatriots before leading the charge!

"...help real claymores with actual skill with the sword..."

Oh this bitch. This bitch done it. This entire god-damned mission was just shit-on-Somnus. And, he fucking called it! He literally asked for a contingency plan from their 'leader' if this exact thing were to happen and she gave jack shit.

Fuck them. Fuck all of them.

"Any one of you dunces can swing a sword real hard, honey," he replied to Alexandria right before she rushed off. This was a newer side of Somnus. Unfortunately, not one the others would get to see since they all darted off to the larger Yoma seemingly. This side of Somnus, however, was far more willing to take those risks. In a brief moment, he completely deactivated Somnolence and in doing so, slowly allowed the remaining Yoma to begin regaining their freedom. All of their muscles began to twitch. The paralysis on them faded, slowly but surely, leaving more of a fatigue and sluggishness.

The deactivation of his signature ability was for another. Another feat of raw control. He let his Yoki course through him, opening it up bit by bit to empower him with the key difference that it poured into his muscles constantly, regenerating and rejuvenating them. This was how a Defensive Type like himself could cover their weaknesses. He wasn't shy about this, either. He let every ounce of his Yoki that he could seethe through him until he felt his eyes begin to shift again. Before they could take on their Golden Hue, he refused it. A complete and total stop of the release of his Yoki. Not that he couldn't, but that wouldn't: these girls didn't deserve that from him.

No tricks this time. By his count, eleven Yoma left, and he was livid. A whole new man from the one playing damsel in distress earlier. If he had to fight like they did without any help, he'd do it--and he'd do it with under ten percent of his Yoki. With that mentality, he rushed forward at the most nearby Yoma. Its reactions were still sluggish, but it tried to defend itself. A raised arm and flexed body tried to stop the swing of his sword. It made a difference, too. Even with his new focus on offense, cutting through a body that was prepared and even trying to block was a whole different feat than a completely helpless Yoma. It worked, still. A quick, clean slice right through the body of the Yoma, splattering his previously clean armor with blood. He grinned watching it work. There was definitely joy to take out of this, albeit not as much as Alexandria did.

He still had a point to make. The other Yoma reacted to this fresh assault fairly quickly, either grouping together or backing up. They left him ten against one, but that was fine. Just fine. He'd make due. Right? Another lunge forward at a set of two. A quick, horizontal slash following the momentum; something he saw Alexandria do as she left. Wasn't mimicry the best form of flattery? Unfortunately, his effort was far from perfect. The follow-through of his slash was lackluster, managing to cut through the forearm of one of the Yoma. However, he didn't have much practice controlling this strength and speed, resulting in him stumbling forward. The second Yoma was just as quick to take advantage of this, attempting to slash a claw straight through his back. It penetrated his armor enough to let the deep, ravenous claws sink into his flesh.

Pain was something he rarely felt. It sent a shot of adrenaline straight through his body. His breathing became shallow and fast; his heart pumped even faster and harder. His whole body became alive. Easily acting the fastest since this encounter started, he rolled over onto his back, ripping the claw from the Yoma out of him, then plunged his sword through it. It was easier this time. Far easier. The first Yoma followed through with an attack, but Somnus was able to heave his sword up and through the Yoma it was in, causing the Yoma dashing forward to impale itself. With one dead and the other scrambling on his sword, he kicked it off its blade and rushed to his feet fast enough to decapitate it.

The other Yoma flocked around him, but this was getting easier. A lot easier. At this rate, eight would be...

And, then it hit him. All at once. His entire body tensed and before he even realized it, he vomited a thick, green mucous and what little food he had before the mission. His head throbbed. The wound in his back was already healing, but the rest of his body was in this intense, stomach-turning state. He nearly blacked out, but he at least had practice at preventing that. Everything had gotten easier because he lost his control. That brief spurt of adrenaline from his back pushed him past his hard-set threshold of instantaneous Yoki usage. He let anger get the best of him.

He fell to one knee trying to regain control, already past the worst of it just by not passing out. He held onto his sword with both hands and began withdrawing his Yoki back into his core. That temporary boost he had was gone entirely, now left sick in ten different ways with an ego in more pieces than the Yoma Alexandria diced. This was yet another moment the Yoma took as weakness. An opening. Two of them ready to jump him for a killing blow only for Somnus to lift his head, revealing his icy blue eyes, and reactivating his Somnolence. His Yoki was still, silent, and frozen once more--and so were the Yoma.

He looked at a claw just a few inches away from his face, and a spiky appendage from an elbow from another aimed right at his shoulder to impale him. Through his dark hair, he saw the exact mess he let things become. "Fuck me..." he muttered. Effectively back to square one. He couldn't move and neither could they. The only difference now was their numbers and his nausea.

"Nope, our strong man has a few stragglers to deal with." Alexandria said with a deep cheerful voice not meant for a lady. "I'm not so sure about the surrounding areas. I'm sure he will be able to find any still hiding." Despite Melody's failed attempt to finsih her sentence, Alexandria was able to finish her sentence before she needed to act. She twirled to her right and successfully dodged the spear-like fingers. Half-way through her twirl a dirk was let loose towards the beasts armpit to severe the artery there and limit the function of its arm. At the end of her twirl, her claymore was coming down upon the extended appendages. A simultaneous attack would prove whether this yoma was experienced or not.

Yoki perception was not a strong suite for Alexandria, but there was a weird spite filled aura that peaked for a few moments behind her. Though it only lasted for a moment, Alexandria smirked. She knew it was Somnus and it seemed that her words had gotten the better of him. Her womanly intuition told her that he was going to let his pride get in way, if not now but in the future.

#39 Asteria
Asteria visibly flinched back from Amelia's angry response to the mention of her ranking. She hadn't even said the Amelia's exact number... was her ranking a major point of contention with her? Number 37 certainly wasn't high... perhaps her (possibly) friend's low ranking hurt her pride? Then again Amelia had clearly pushed herself with her Yoki, perhaps it was simply the Yoma side getting the best of her temper briefly? Thankfully after a few moments Amelia recovered her control; her face returning to normal and muscles ceasing their spasms. Back to normal; the braided Claymore and short haired Claymore began conversing happily. Asteria's cheeks went into a jealous pout when she saw Amelia give the new arrival a hair ribbon... guess number 37 just did that with everyone...

Amelia left to find soap in the human home and Nell explained the stronger Yoma's location. Asteria closed her eyes to focus on the flows of Yoki in the area. She was able to ignore and control the threatening blush at being called “ small and cute” with such earnestness. Luckily she was used to be called such from other Warriors.

Within the swirling flows of Yoki she sensed two Warriors attacking the stronger Yoma. She felt the faint coldness of the male Warrior's Yoki surrounded by the flames of Yoki from several un-moving Yoma. The coldness suddenly vanished and was replaced with a weak flicker of flame. The Yoma began moving and the male Warrior seemed to be fighting ten or so Yoma alone in the more traditional style of Claymore slaying... he didn't last very long. His Yoki seemed to twist and curl in rejection inside his own body; he soon fell back to his normal technique. Still surrounded with slightly less Yoma, two extremely close to him.

Asteria opened her eyes. If number 37 didn't want to enforce her rank then fine. “You two should go help slay the stronger Yoma with the other Warriors. Number 45 can lead you there Amelia. One of the weaker Warriors is in trouble I believe. I can sense where they are at, and will rejoin you both afterwards.” Asteria took off into the small town as fast as she was able without tapping into her Yoki deeply. Her current reserves were good considering the previous battle, however her arms and legs were growing fatigued and the headache from the Misty Sword still hurt a little.

Asteria reached the location of the battle between the mud head and Yoma. The mud-head appeared moments from death. Number 39 reached inside herself and brought her Yoki to 35%. She felt her face distort into a monstrous mockery of her normally “cute” features, and her eyes burn with the Claymore's trademark demonic golden hue. The fatigue and headache vanished; Asteria easily cut down the frozen Yoma surrounding the failed Claymore. The task took about ten seconds with her enhanced speed and strength. Once finished, she looked at the downed male; exhausted, wounded, and next to what was likely his own vomit.

Normally for another Warrior she would stay with one so injured... but the mud-head was still a human-like-thing she certainly didn't want to stand around alone with. Plus it was simply impractical to deactivate her Yoki with a battle nearby. The need for combat was calling her... she needed to prove her worth... needed to help the other Warriors... needed to kill... need to dance and cut and slay... her purpose was calling her... her reason for existing. Asteria raised her bloody sword and pointed it at the kneeling mud head, speaking through a mouth filled with dagger teeth. “Stay. We will kill last Yoma.” With that she leaped away to rejoin the real Warriors.

Sick may he be, Somnus was still himself. He felt the surge of Yoki rush at him. He met this one. He locked on to her signature earlier. She was using a third of her Yoki or better. She wanted to help now? Now!?

Now, there was a rationale part of Somnus here. He was ill, physically. He was weakened, sure. But, he wasn't done. He knew he wasn't. None of the Yoma around him could move. He could kill them once he got over this... god-awful feeling the Organization put him through. Now, internally, he knew that him killing them now would have just wasted time. He was all-to aware that the most logical, strategical choice was to kill them off as soon as possible and regroup. If anything, he could hunt down any stragglers; his skill set was prime for that.

The issue is that there was still the irrational part of Somnus. These girls looked down on him. Ignored him. Left him to play with these beasts instead of treating him like a member of the team. It wasn't until he was in some actual level of danger that one of them even considered turning around for him. At least Alexandria came when he called, but she left as soon as he pointed out the new Yoma. The ones around him now weren't even threats. Regardless of how long it took, he could have cut them down. Not in seconds like some of them, but he could have.

This was another boiling point, but this time, Somnus was very well-aware of his limits. Asteria was fast, but Somnus had virtually no ground to cover. All he had to do was release his Yoki and he did. He turned over to look at her on her way and outstretched his blade before she arrived. He was still ill. He felt it. He wanted to vomit again. But, the thing about the toxins coursing through his veins was that they were already being filtered out and as long as he didn't go past his beautiful ten percent mark, there would be no more.

So it was Asteria that first saw the bright, golden eyes of the dark-haired Claymore. It was Asteria that first, above all others, felt his cold Yoki. His Somnolence was still active, if possible even stronger and now forcing these Yoma even more still. That wasn't point. They weren't the target of Somnolence. It was Asteria. Right as she arrived to cut down those surrounding him, he poured his frigid Yoki into her. Like breeze of cold, Arctic air being breathing down the very back of the soul, Somnolence in all of its veracity was forced into her. At 35%, she could easily overpower it, sure; in fact, with her Yoki Control, she could probably fight it off. Somnus didn't want to stop her. That wasn't his goal.

He wanted to surprise her. Targeting an ally was a forbidden thing among the Claymore, but Somnolence wasn't entirely offensive. All it did was disrupt the flow of Yoki, and if anything, might make her first attack miss. Again, that wasn't the point. It was message. A message to stop. His golden eyes were just as ferocious as any of theirs and unlike the icy blue or even cold silver before, these ones burned with that familiar aura they all knew. The strength of a demon. The heart of a witch.

If she stopped, once she stopped, she could see that he was still ill. His body wavered under the stress of using his Yoki. In fact, just a moment after the burst he used on her, he faded back to his blue eyes and the burning aura he had dissipated. The advantage of only ever being able to use so much of his Yoki meant his Yoki stamina was still intact; it was his physical body itself that was hurt. Poisoned.

"I w-will kill them myself," he told her, choking down his very words. Holding back the urge to emit another load of mucous and grotesque fluids from his body. "They... are mine," he added, taking claim to them. His arm trembled holding his blade, but he stood. There was no lack of resilience in his eyes. She could cut them and Hell, probably even him down where they all stood if she wanted. He had no rights to be making claims and no ability to enforce them. What he had, however, was willpower. His body may have looked like it was about to fail at any moment, but there was no fault in his eyes.

Eight pathetic Yoma surrounded him and it was his resolution to kill them. Asteria was given the chance to witness this resolve.

Amelia, the Scorpion, #37

"Comb my hair? Maybe. It'd be good to get the blood out. Aren't you adorable? Well, I'll let you lead."

Asteria threw in a few orders on the way, saying to slay the stronger yoma with Nellia. Amelia could follow that, it made sense, definitely. Amelia's normal grin grew to a wide Cheshire smile at the order of a lower rank. THAT was how the claymores should be, anyone could take charge at a moments notice. Afterall, they had one job, one mission. Eliminate Yoma.

As Asteria broke off from them, Amelia watched her friend and waved.

"Have fun! Enjoy saving the wimp! I can't sense her, but my bets were her not being in one piece."

Amelia said, without a clue that the weak warrior was, in fact, warrior. Following Nellia, Amelia easily saw her prey. It looked like it was engaging two claymores already. Why not make it three? Four when Nellia joined in, but Amelia had no hesitation as she ran in full speed at the yoma's back, stabbing straight at the base of its spine. Who cared if this thing was strong, enough claymore would cut it down easily.

Amelia was tired as hell and wasn't the fastest in the first place, but she also knew a weak point when she saw it. Honestly, there was nothing Amelia wanted more than to lay down and take a nap, but there were yoma. They had to die. Every.single.one. This one was the leader. It had brought them together. Amelia had no idea how Yoma were birthed, but she wondered if a strong one couldn't make more. Killing it would stop the possibility.

Amelia's control of her yoki was also strained, she figured using her scorpion tail again had a chance of pushing her over the edge far too easily. Still another sword was another sword.

The leathery gray yoma grunted, as Alexandria sliced of its elongated fingers. The pain didn’t stop it from leaping upwards as soon as its feet touched the ground, dodging the sneak attack from behind and only letting the dagger stab into its leg. In mid air, all the thorns all over its body shot outward, aiming to pierce anything and everything within a thirty foot radius of the yoma.

“Pathetic!” The yoma snarled. As soon as the thorns reached their maximum length, they retracted. The yoma landed back down in his original position, readying itself as its severed fingers began to regrow.

Her eyes turned golden as she prepared to strike. Her legs tensed, ready to charge. But, once again, interrupting her, was the yoma’s attack. The thorns that elongated outwards weren’t as fast as his fingers, so even Melody was able to avoid them. She was forced to cut a few out of the air, however, as they had benn nearly unavoidable. But as soon as the tborns retracted, Melody charged.

“I’ll create an opening! Be ready!” She called out, mid stride as she sprinted towards the yoma. Each of her steps shook the building’s roof.

The yoma’s gaze turned to Melody, unimpressed. “Do you not learn?”

A gray claw rose into the air, ready to gut the approaching Claymore. But, just before Melody was in range, she skidded to a halt, and slammed her claymore down into the roof beneath her, dropping her and the yoma back down into the building.

#45 Nellia

Nellia had been waiting for this! Timing was important in these battles, especially with a big ass beastie like that! Biding her time, that was more her style! Where was she in fact? Why, none other than in the building! the perfect place to set up a trap! While the big beastie was above, she would wait for the perfect opportunity and go out and cut off one of it's limbs... or.. something! Hopefully the head, but she wasn't picky.

Better to take your time and do it right than to risk it all in one strike! yep yep yep! Thats the type of girl she was! though her entrance into the building wasn't that subtle, she seemed to have been alrgely overlook by the others. Not that it mattered to her it was what i was, it's better than being called out as a boy or something, thats for certain. As she poked around for a quick access to the roof the building began to shake a tad, she had wanted to take it the stealthy approach but it seems the battle was raging above! Oh she had to be careful! She also hoped whoever that other claymore was is beign careful as well!

Hmm...?

That roof... Doesn't look like it's gonna last much longer... “I’ll create an opening! Be ready!” Huh? And opening! Oh she better get ready, but where is this opening gonna be she wondered... Maybe she should make some room before something happened tot he building- Eh!? OH SHIT THE ROOF IS WAS FALLING IN! Having only slightly managed to escape the rubble Nelliaspotted her moment, indeed, for she was in a prime position! Even though the Yoma was tough, she had the element of suprise that she was looking for!

"Heres revenge for that spearing asshole!" she barked out, rushing up as the Yoma fell and delivered a beautiful strike across it's right shoulder, fully severing the arm before she made some room to defend by moving away should the counter attack come! She looked around for the claymore who broke the roof, and any of her other compatriots and yelled out "Hows that for fucking average! Come on ladies! if I can do that show me what YOU can do!" She smiled, thought quickly put up her guard again, remembering the earlier lesson about keeping UP her guard... last thing she needs is another spearing.

#39 Asteria
Asteria reached the first Yoma and swung her sword at the static target expecting an easy kill. A terrible chill hit her, catching the small Warrior completely off guard. She swung too early completely missing her mark like a new trainee that hadn't even finished changing into a proper Warrior. Her body felt like it was being held in an icy grip; a flash of golden eyes from the male Warrior and she knew. This was his ability, but why was it affecting her too? Was it an accident? Could he not control who he targeted? Was he losing control or worst... Awakening? She had heard the whispered stories of the reasons why there were no male Warriors... it was because they Awakened too quickly.

Asteria shook her head and tightened her grip on her sword. It didn't matter, not right now. She could still move and she still had to fight. Focusing on simple basic moments she took a single solid step forward. She stopped at his words however as he struggled to speak. Wait... he had used his ability against her on purpose? To stop her from slaying the Yoma? Was the failed creation truly so prideful that he had targeted an ally in the middle of battle against Yoma? Just so he could slay them himself? Her eye narrowed and she swung again. A Yoma head fell... Number 39 resumed her charge against the static targets, albeit moving much slower and with far simpler sword movements. Many Warriors were prideful; something she lacked. Normally she wouldn't have minded it, but this failed creation was trying to stop her from fulfilling their shared duty and purpose when he couldn't even do it himself!

Asteria felt her temper flare, a rare thing for the nicknamed "Cutie Claymore", but she held her angry in check and decided it was best not to near the male Warrior or the two Yoma inches from killing him. She worried if she got too close he would be able to stop her movements completely or even possibly out right attack her... she had never been required to put down a fellow Warrior before. Then again was he even a proper Warrior? If he lost control what would she do?

Asteria circled around the male and the two Yoma near him. Slaying the frozen Yoma on the peripherals of the three figures in the center. The task took much longer than she had anticipated but she was able to slay the six Yoma on the outskirts of the male's battle. Once finished she stopped and hopped back a few feet away from the two monsters and half-monster. She raised her sword at the three figures and waited in silence. Unsure if she was looking at two enemies or three.

Sir Les Paul Sir Les Paul

The yoma quickly pulled his fingers back after a part of them writhed on the ground next to Alexandria. Her dirk had embedded itself into it's thigh instead; mostly because an unknown Claymore had jumped into the fray from behind. 'Finally, we have four Claymores here.' She thought and brought her sword up to shield herself from the few spikes from the beast's back. Surprisingly, the few spikes that nailed the sturdy claymore pushed Alexendria back a few feet. This yoma was indeed a strong one, stronger than the others by numerous tiers.

"This Yoma is worthy." Alexandria muttered to herself and charged after the impressive beast. She headed their leader's order and charged towards the beast slower than she would have if it was just herself. Yellow eyes switched between the yoma and her leader, and gauged her timing with Melody's movement. Melody's sword went up and smashed down onto the roof, collapsing it beneath the two. Alexandria knew this was her chance to get up close to this trophy beast without worrying about the expanding spikes it had.

Alexandria's powerful legs shook the roof she was on with the few steps she had left from the edge. In unison her off hand grabbed another dirk as she pushed off the ledge over to the other building. The second ledge came quickly, though she was not the best at perception she already knew where the Yoma and the other three Claymores were. She leapt from the second ledge over another attacking Claymore she had not seen before; the dirk left her hand directly over the yoma. Alexandria feet landed on the wall and before gravity would take hold she pushed off with all her current might at the large beast and swung her sword at the yoma on the opposite side of the other Claymore.

Amelia, the Scorpion, #37

As Amelia stabbed, the yoma sprouted thorns like a Porcupine. Tired as she was, Amelia was unable to avoid them completely, about 4 piercing her. To a defensive warrior. no problem. To an offensive warrior? Well... a bit more. With a grunt, Amelia noticed their movement, quivering as to retract. Might as well leave a parting gift. Focusing her Yoma energy to her arm to keep it stable, she threw it forward like a javelin at the yoma. It wouldn't normally have enough force to pierce most yoma's, but the retracting thorns would likely literally drag the sword into it. It was led by the yoma's own power. Amelia aimed for the base of the thorns, the moving part, where it would likely be weakest.

Amelia waved to the rest, with several holes in her.

"Think I could use a nap. Hey, Asteria, do me a solid, make sure to take care of this, we.can't.leave.a.single.yoma.left. Hehehe."

Amelia giggled like a schoolgirl, then collapsed. The other warriors had this... she just needed a small rest.

================================================
(Flashback)

"Hmm. Your first assignment, a Yoma to the south. Just a singular one. Shouldn't be a problem to a well-trained claymore."

Amelia nodded understandingly to the black clothed man, a small grin on her face. The village was nothing special... But she wouldn't forget it soon. Wandering through it, a yoma thought it a good idea to attack her before she could attack it. Freezing, Amelia looked like a deer in the headlights as it managed to grab her with both hands.

"Hah! Got'cha. Your guts probably taste like shit, but it ain't gunna stop me."

"Oh please Mr. Yoma! I'm new! First day on the job!"

"Even bett-"

Amelia expression changed from scared to insidious as blood splashed across her eyes, and her knife in its eye. That wasn't enough for the claymore though. As soon as it had dropped, she cut at it. Again. And again. Her small grin changed to a wide cheshire smile, and then haunting laughter, blood splattering her face.

"This is what it means to be a warrior..."

In front of her, the yoma was now just a lump of flesh. An ever-shrinking lump of flesh, blood splattering the area constantly after claymore blow after claymore blow landed upon it.

"I'LL KILL'EM ALL! I'LL KILL ALL OF THEM! AHAHAHA!"

The Yoma cried out in pain, as him arm was severed. And if being sent crashing to the ground, and losing an arm wasn’t enough, a dirk sunk deep into its chest. Another screech of pain burst from its sharp toothy muzzle. It tried to get up, but a sharp pain sunk deep into its side, where one of its thorns had been trying to retract still. It had been soft, and the strike subk deep into its insides.

“No! T-this can’t be! My power was supposed to be greater than this! They lied to me-“ the yoma’s blood burgling cries were cut off, as it’s head rolled upon the ground beneath Alexandria’s feet. It’s grey and blood covered body twitched and convulsed, before falling limp.

Melody rose from the ground, and wiped the blood from her brow. Although she wasn’t wounded during the brief fight, she was fatigued nonetheless.

“Good work loves. You all made quick work of the monster far better than I expected.” Melody approached the yoma’s lifeless form, looking down on it with a slight smile on her face.

“I do hope I’ll be blessed with the chance to work with you all in the future,” Melody stated, her gaze turning to gaze upon Nellia. After discerning she was a good and average claymore who did her job well, her gaze turned to the swiss cheese of a girl laying on the ground. Her hair was bloody, and a satisfied smile lie on her face.

“By what I can sense, Asteria has taken care of the remaining Yoma. Our mission is complete.”

Melody sheathed her blade and gave Alexandria a nod of acknowledgment.

“I’ll be sure to report our success to the organization. You all should expect a increased rank for your efforts today,” Melody said with a smile.

#45 Nellia
"Woo! We did it!" shouted the woman as thing was confirmed dead. "Awwww man! Another notch on the belt for me~! Ya'll are gonna have to work harder to stay better than me now! Hahahaha!" she never seemed tired of that joke... if.. it indeed was a joke. The woman whipped the sword with a faux slash at the wall, spreading the blood upon it to clean her blade off before putting it away. "Remember to sharpen your swords after this, a sword thats taken care of takes care of you! And a dull blade is a dangerous one! Let it do it's job as well!" the boyish woman wagged her finger at the rest before looking down at Amelia.

"Oh jeeze, abit hurt aintchyea, it's okay, I'll bring yea somewhere safe and getchyea all cleaned up! that braid ain't gonna get cleaned it'self yea know!! Ooh i could go for abit to eat to, haven't eaten in awhile." nellia started to prattle before hoisting Amelia up and over her shoulder like a wet sack of potatoes.

"I wonder if theres a bakery in town that got broken in, a bit of a pastry would go fine, Ooh~! maybe I should go ask that cute little one if she wants to join~!" nellia took her time climbing the wreckage of the room before heading outside.

"Oh Asteria! Where you at? You still alive?!"

“Please! Wai-“ the monster’s plead was silenced with steel to the throat. The Yoma gurgled on its blood for a few moments before it fell backwards, sliding off Asteria’s stained blade. “That should be the last one.” The small Warrior whispered to herself contently as she searched for the Yoki flows, and found that only the other Warrior’s were left. While the others had moved to engage the stronger Yoma she had gone to slay the few remaining Yoma in the village. Her agility and perception abilities had made the task easy, and now the village was free from their plague.

Her mission accomplished, Asteria swiftly moved through the streets to rejoin her fellow Warriors. She heard a voice call out for her; a smile came to her face hearing number 45’s voice. It seemed everyone was alive and in good spirits. “I’m here!” she called back happily as she rounded the corner to rejoin the others.

Alexandria landed on her feet with a wide grin that exuded pleasure. "That my ladies, is the most satisfied I have been in a very long time." She exclaimed and her face, body and eyes returned to their normal soft appearance. She turned and faced the other Claymores and most of the faces in the building were new to her. Especially the one that was unconcious with a smile that mimiced hers. "Oh my god!" Alexandria rushed over to the unconcious claymore but #45 had beaten her to the downed woman. #45 seemed cheery but slightly negligent on the care of #37. "I don't think you should carrying her like that." Alexandria warned and followed the two new Claymores.

"Thank you, Melody. You did a good job as well." Alexandria said when she passed Melody. "Oh, please don't be so rough with her... What's your name? I'm Alexandria." She asked #45.

"Call me Nell~! I'm number 45, and this girl is tough enough to handle my handling, she'll be good at new soon enough thats for sure." Nellia laughed off her worries with a slight pat on Amelia's behind which was upon her shoulder. She however perked up again when she finally spotted Asteria the cutest little claymore~! "Heyyyy~! Looks like your all in one piece, Amelia is takeing a little nap for now, being stabbed so many times tends to make yea a tad worn out eh?" she smirked to the smaller claymore before gazing around the town for a moment.

"Alright! lets go get us some sweets, sure as hell deserve it, not like the damn organization pays us enough. come on you two, maybe we can snag some liquor to~!"

#39 (Soon to be 37) Asteria

“Umm… well ok. As long as we take them from an empty home or shop.” It was against the rules to directly take from humans, and the Organization frowned on Warriors having personnel things. But taking some food and liquor after doing this big of a job surely wouldn’t make them too angry. It wasn’t like they ate a lot anyway and with the number of dead humans, surely they would have an excess of food in the village now. Plus, Asteria had never actually had liquor before, or eaten “sweets” since she was a little girl.

Asteria hurried off into a nearby home, eager to make friends with Nell and surprise Amelia with food and drink when she woke up. The structure was barely standing from the fighting between the monsters, as she entered her sabatons landed in something wet on the rickety wooden flooring. Blood from what looked to be a human man, woman, and child huddle together in their last moments of terror. She smiled, if she found something in this home she wouldn’t be stealing; the humans couldn’t drink or eat anything anymore.

Asteria searched through the home as best she could at first finding only small bits of stale bread, however she soon found a small barrel of commoner ale in what looked to be a storage room near the kitchen. She remembered her parents often complained about the drink themselves when the peasants offered it to them. Wine was the "proper" drink and she doubted number 45 would be content with “peasant swill.” She still decided to take the small barrel into the kitchen just in case and set it down on the former family dining table.

She glared up at her last search area once she set down her plunder. The highest of the kitchen cabinets. Her face morphing with grim determination, she stood on her tippy toes and reached for the handle of the cabinets with all her might. Her fingers just an inch or two away from the wooden handle…
