Fantasy City of Angels (Lore)

Angels
0134d60aedfb29126db9c46f0adb47a5.jpg

One of the most most powerful beings in the universe, an angel. They roam the skies above, watching the humans below. There are many types of angels, each ranging in power and rank. From Archangel to Guardian, each role is essential to keeping 'Heaven' at peace.

Ranks
Guardian Angel:
Not the most powerful of angels, but they are the angels who keep watch over 'special' humans. Their charges are hand picked by the Archangels and it is a Guardian's job to protect that human from harm. They are permitted to stay on Earth without the harmful effects of remaining there too long. They are also one of the few angels aloud to reveal themselves to a human, should they choose to.

Scriptorum Angeli:
These angels have the exact same power as a Guardian, except they are the ones who keep records on each human. They know every bloodline, even the ones who are slightly tainted with Nephlim blood. Usually these angels work closely with the Guardians to better ensure that the Guardian knows how to tend to his/her charge.

Seraphim:
These angels are a bit stronger than Guardians and the Scriptorum. They keep watch over both of the groups; making sure both obey the rules and do their jobs. These angels work closely with the Archangels, to observe and watch humanity. Seraphim are un-permitted to touch the surface of Earth; it is rare to see one down there unless the are hunting a rouge Guardian.

Angelus Bellator:
One of the more stronger angels, these soldiers train hard to protect Heaven and Angels from any outside dangers. They come to Earth every now and again to help a Guardian out of a rather..sticky situation with the 'other' residents on Earth, but other than that they prefer to stay in their sanctuary, protecting the Archangels. They answer only to the Archangels demands.

Angel of Death:
A very powerful angel, known to control the fate of every species, even angels. This individual spends most of their time on Earth, guiding the dead to the other side. Their power is on level with the Archangels, and as such the Archangels tend to leave this person alone, trusting that they can complete their job without instruction.

Archangels:
The most powerful angels, they are few in number* and rule over the angels. They direct and guide each and every angel in Heaven. They are known to speak to God, and translating his words into actions. The Archangels powers are to be feared, as well as their watchful gaze. They are known to strip angels of their powers and banish them to live forever as a Fallen on Earth's surface.

*Seven Archangels in total.

Fallen Angels

The Fallen Angels are very powerful beings that are cursed to roam the earth for the rest of their existence. Either through love, or hate, for humanity, they have had their wings torn off and their rightful place in heaven stripped away. They still hold great power even if they are forever beyond the light of heaven.

All Fallen, no matter what they once were, have a large scar upon their back in the form of a large V, the scar marring where their beautiful wings once stood proud before they were torn by the wrath of the Archangels. Unlike Angels, what organization and bureaucracy they once had is no-more. It truly doesn't matter if the angel was once a Guardian, the most common of all Fallen, or a Bellator, they are all merely 'Fallen' and just as hated as any other of their fellows in the eyes of their winged kin. However, that being said, there is one separate 'type' of Fallen who are noteworthy enough to be of mention, that being the Fallen Archangels. It is extraordinarily rare for an Archangel to fall, so much so that their numbers can be counted on one hand, but their strength, even after the loss of their wings, surpasses that of other Fallen.

Fallen Angels are able to posses the body of a Nephlim for 2 weeks out of the year. (The first two weeks of October.) During this time, the Nephlim is trapped within his/her body and is forced to watch whatever the Fallen uses them for. During this time, a Fallen can finally physically feel everything they do. From getting shot, to kissing a girl..the feeling is real.

A rumor floats about that in a certain book possessed and read by the Angel of Death, says that if a female descendant of a pureblood Nephlim sacrifices herself, the Fallen will become human. However, since females are rare in a pure bloodline, and she must willingly sacrifice herself..no one has been able to achieve this rumor.

Fallen Angels are unable to bear children, or reproduce at all. (Meaning they are sterile and infertile.)

A more unknown way to kill a Fallen Angel is to get your hands on one of the feathers that fell down with them when they were banished from Heaven and burn it until it is nothing but dust. Finding one of these feathers is extremely hard, as not many fall* and you're extremely lucky if the Fallen did collect what feathers fell and hid them away.

*One or two tend to fall with the Angel.

Nephlim

Nephlim are the offspring of what happens when a Fallen mates with a human. Nephlim can range in powers depending on how potent the blood is within your veins. Often a 2nd or 3rd Generation Nephlim is decently strong, nothing compared to a Fallen or Pureblood, but they can hold their own. Nephlim have the basic enhancements of strength, speed, and endurance. On top of that, they are fairly hard to kill.

Nephlim do not age and are immortal, but that doesn't mean they are not impossible to get rid of. However, nephlim are the targets of Fallen. Once a year, for the first two weeks in October, a Fallen Angel can take over a nephlim's body, should they have sworn an Oath of Fealty toward that Fallen. During this week the Fallen takes over their bodies, leaving no chance for the Nephlim to regain their bodies, they are simply trapped, watching as the Fallen controls their every action.

Pureblood Nephlim are rare these days, and any who exist have already been forced to swear an Oath of Fealty to a Fallen Angel. These Nephlim can go toe to toe with a regular Fallen Angel, but have more difficulty with the any of the ones that were once Archangels.

Nephlim are often born with a birthmark somewhere on their body that signifies them as a Nephlim. Even if their blood has been watered down after each generation, the mark remains.

A lesser known way to kill a Pureblood Nephlim is to kill a female descendant from their bloodline, and since females are so rare as Nephlim, this is no easy task. The sacrifice must be completely willing to die. She must be a 2nd or 3rd generation, any lower and the sacrifice will be invalid.

Often Purebloods think they can create more Purebloods by mating with each other, but this results in a stillborn child or one that barely makes it to the age of twenty, and even so they will have no powers, but instead be completely weak.

Weaponry

Forged Of Devilcraft:

Devilcraft is hated and feared by angels because it is one of the few things that can harm them, but one of the most hated, and feared, of all forms are the weapons forged of Devilcraft. They can come in almost any shape and form, and while they cannot kill an angel, they can harm them like nothing else can, and they are lethal and fully capable of killing Nephlim or Fallen. They are difficult to make requiring the sacrifice of dozens of humans to forge, the greater the 'innocence' of the human, the more potent the weapon. The greatest of these weapons are said to corrupt their user. These weapons are highly sought after by angels so they may destroy them for the cost of creating these weapons, the loss of human life to Fallen or Nephlim is unacceptable. While these weapons are potent, their use also comes down to what moral values the potential wielder has as, understandably, not all are comfortable in using blades forged from the lives of unwillingly mortals.

Celestial Blades:

The mightiest weapons in existence are the Celestial Blades. While they are called 'Blades', they take many forms and don't, necessarily, have to be a blade. These mighty weapons are forged in Heaven with the power of the Archangels and blessed by the Angel of Death, and so, they are capable of killing any being, even angels. There are not many of these weapons because they are incredibly difficult to create and, more so, Archangels, understandably, do not want many of these blades to exist. The few that do exist are all watched and kept for by a select group of Angelus Bellator.

Powers

Each race has the same powers*, but the level at which they can manifest them is different.
Nephlim

Telepathy:
The power to talk to humans, fallens, and angels through their mind. (Self explanatory.)

Enhanced Strength:
Their strength knows no bounds. From uprooting a cedar tree, to bending metal into two pieces, its without say that a Nephlim is stronger than your adverage human.

Enhanced Stamina:
Nephlim are able to run 50mph and jump building to building effortlessly.

Enhanced Endurance:
It goes without saying that a Nephlim can survive nearly anything. From having their skin ripped off, to breaking every bone in their body. They will survive it. The only thing that can kill them is Devilcraft or beheading.

Immortal:
They age extremely slowly. (Pretty..self explanatory there.)

Mind Tricks:
Any normal Nephlim can make a human believe anything. From giving away free food, to outright dying from them, Nephlim can make them believe it is their own thought.
Pureblood Nephlim can even make humans hallucinate or make them forget certain memories.*

*Warning: These both come with great strain to the Pureblood. A normal Nephlim CANNOT do this. As with this power comes the fact that it isn't a complete forgotten memory either. The human is aware that something is missing, like a blank space or memory. The feelings are there, but the memory is not. This also does not last, the human is capable of remembering the memory through dreams. It won't be the entire memory, but as the magic fades, the more the memory comes back.

Regeneration:
Their regeneration is a lot slower than a fallen or angel's, but they can still regenerate from a fatal wound, it just may take a few hours or days depending on how bad of a wound it was.

Ways to kill a Nephlim:
Decapitation, Devilcraft, bloodline sacrifice, and Celestial Blade

Fallen Angel

Telepathy:
Able to communicate with each race in the mind. (Obviously~)

Enhanced Strength, Stamina, and Endurance:
Strong, faster, and able to with stand more than a Nephlim. (So basically more powerful.)

Mind Tricks:
For fallen angels its much easier to trick humans, and even nephlim into believing anything. They are better at alternating someone's relaity abd making them hallucinate as well as better at making people's memories disappear.*

*It is less of a strain for them to erase memories; however, if you fell as a lower ranking angel then your control over their memories is on par with a pureblood nephlim. If you fell as an Archangel, then your control over this ability would be near perfection.

Immortal:
They do not age at all. (Unlike Nephlim who age slower.)

Unfeeling:
Fallen angels are unable to feel physical pain or pleasure. No matter how extreme.

Regeneration:
Fallens regenerate from wounds fairly quickly, it just depends on how fatal that wound is if it is within seconds or minutes

How to kill a Fallen Angel:
Devilcraft, Celestial Blade, and burning one of their feathers

Guardian Angels

Telepathy:
Able to communicate with humans, fallen, and nephlim. Except their human charges can respond, unlike when the other two races speak to humans this way.

Enhanced Strength, Stamina, and Endurance:
Strong, faster, and able to with stand more. (So basically more powerful than Nephlim, but on par with Fallens.)

Mind Tricks:
Their manipulating abilities are just as powerful as a Fallen's, but they choose not to mess with a human's head unless absolutely necessary.

Flying:
They can fly.

Immortal:
Like fallens, they do not age whatsoever.

Healing:
They are able to heal any wound in a matter of minutes, depending on how deep and how big.

Sixth Sense:
Angels will always be fully aware of their human's whereabouts and if they are in danger.

Regeneration:
Angels regenerate far faster than a fallen or Nephlim. Even a fatal wound would be healed in a matter of minutes. The only way to truly wound angels is with Devilcraft.

How to kill an Angel:
Celestial Blade

*Humans are..well humans. They have no powers.
