  • When Fighting, each character will distribute one attack to an opponent.
  • Each character then rolls two 10-sided dice.
    • One for the attack
      • Add +1 if your Offense is higher than your defense
    • One for defense
      • Add +1 if your defense is higher than your offense
    • If your Physical ability is higher than both offense and defense, pick a roll to add +1 to per turn
  • If an attack beats a defense, the defender takes 1 hit
    • if tied, the higher rank between Offense and Defense stats wins.
      • If still a tie, the higher physical ability wins
        • If still a tie, nothing happens
  • After a number of rounds equal to your mana quantity+2, roll a 4-sided die
  • If you roll equal to or over your mana control you take a hit.
  • If a character takes 3 hits they become knocked out.
    • If both teams are knocked out within the same round, roll a 6-sided die.
      • Higher Score stands up a moment longer - if a tie, the higher team luck stat wins.
        • If still a tie, congratulations. You draw.

So I do have a character concept. Big bruiser who’s mostly just here for the fights. Has an axe and is probably going to punch his opponent in the face if he gets the chance.

So probably high physical and attack, medium-ish defense, low mana.

Speaking of which, how do the combat rules look without any testing?

For reference, each letter grade will have a number from 1-5, and you'll have X amount of points to assign. Since we went PvP, There's a bit more to try and balance it.

No worries! Also, I think the combat rules look good for now! Once we test them out, and if they don’t work we can always change them or adjust them.

So is the mana hit thing supposed to sort of simulate exhaustion?
Pretty much, yeh. I tried to make the stats matter in some way.

Indeed. Could do some tests before the IC or make sure the first few fights are vs NPCs. Or both!

Suppose I should specify all school combats will be mock battles (phantom form)

Outside of there, well... we'll see 😈

I changed the combat rules slightly

FROM
  • After a number of rounds equal to your mana quantity+2, roll a 6-sided die
    • If you roll under your mana control you take a hit.
TO
  • After a number of rounds equal to your mana quantity+2, roll a 4-sided die
    • If you roll equal to or over your mana control you take a hit.

I realized that if my character had 0 or 1 Mana control, he'd never fail - meaning a higher stat was a hinderance there. Also it's equal to, so even if you have an A (4) in mana control, you may start to feel exhausted.

Sounds fair

Character Thread is up! Would love to know what you think of my character :D

Also, I think I'll do the rolls for everyone per post, since we can't roll dice that I can see. So like

Player post -> GM Roll -> GM post with occurrences
