Chemical Attraction-
part one.
Akushū’s (悪臭) name literally translates to ‘bad odours’ in Kanji-Japanese but despite this, the skunk is far from odorous and (if you are allowed close enough) in fact smells like sweet peaches and honey-suckle blossom. However, Akushū’s priorities lay not in her wondrous aroma but elsewhere in her underworld criminal business. Akushū’s residence in the awfully crowded, dangerous urban world of Chikara City is unpeaceful to say the least but it is what she lives for. Mentioning Akushū’s name is forbidden in almost all of Chikara’s top villain organisations as most believe it brings bad luck… The skunk has quite the reputation for being a stealthy cat burglar, hosting notorious heists, involvement in out public hacking and distributing an illicit drug nicknamed ‘Honey’.
You will never see her face: it is covered in a tight, and seemingly permanent gas-mask with glowing eyes that shrink and enlarge when emotions are shown. She has small ears that poke out of the top of the mask and slick dreadlocks make up what seem to be her hair. Akushū’s tail is large, unkempt and hands round behind her and the fur is made up of trillions of tiny fibre optic strands; black in colour with the middle set a translucent. Akushū’s most disarming fact is that she is only three feet, four inches tall. She was not a creature that was born.
The dark, acidic rain from the city’s clouds irritated Akushū, the water made her slick and uncomfortable in her loose leather attire and the focus on the black and white night-vision binoculars was slightly distorted. The neon signs and brilliant billboards of Chikara City beamed electric excitement. The cyberskunk held herself composed however… What was inside the laboratory was incredibly valuable, worth the irritation yet not worth the risk of failure. She breathed heavily through her mask, her heart was the most real of her design and it was exhilarated. Akushū kept herself poised, crouching on the rooftop, allowing the rain to roll off her slick mask. She was only armed with her tail, a few smoke and gas bombs tied to her belt as well as a make-shift lockpick and some rope with a metal grapnel on the end. A low growl emitted from her throat as she threw the hooked rope across from one building to another, swinging with swift movement. Luckily, the laboratory was in a position of low security however that was not a reason to not be cautious. The skunk discarded the night-vis goggles and grasped at the rope with gloved hands and climbed down onto the roof disappearing in darkness.
Akushū had planned this mission out; there were rumours of there being a giant, valuable beast held captive in the laboratory. However, it was not her mission to save it, far from… Instead Akushū’s plan was that she was going to sell it on the black market and get true (not moral) currency. Seemingly there was little to no surveillance around the rooftop and the entryway was a garbage chute nonchalantly left open by some staff member. The skunk had hit the jackpot as she scampered on all fours to slide herself into the unknown black and down into the lab itself. Unbeknownst to the fact that Akushū had just made the worst mistake of her short, unstable life…
