Chemical Attraction-
part one.

Akushū’s (悪臭) name literally translates to ‘bad odours’ in Kanji-Japanese but despite this, the skunk is far from odorous and (if you are allowed close enough) in fact smells like sweet peaches and honey-suckle blossom. However, Akushū’s priorities lay not in her wondrous aroma but elsewhere in her underworld criminal business. Akushū’s residence in the awfully crowded, dangerous urban world of Chikara City is unpeaceful to say the least but it is what she lives for. Mentioning Akushū’s name is forbidden in almost all of Chikara’s top villain organisations as most believe it brings bad luck… The skunk has quite the reputation for being a stealthy cat burglar, hosting notorious heists, involvement in out public hacking and distributing an illicit drug nicknamed ‘Honey’.

You will never see her face: it is covered in a tight, and seemingly permanent gas-mask with glowing eyes that shrink and enlarge when emotions are shown. She has small ears that poke out of the top of the mask and slick dreadlocks make up what seem to be her hair. Akushū’s tail is large, unkempt and hands round behind her and the fur is made up of trillions of tiny fibre optic strands; black in colour with the middle set a translucent. Akushū’s most disarming fact is that she is only three feet, four inches tall. She was not a creature that was born.

The dark, acidic rain from the city’s clouds irritated Akushū, the water made her slick and uncomfortable in her loose leather attire and the focus on the black and white night-vision binoculars was slightly distorted. The neon signs and brilliant billboards of Chikara City beamed electric excitement. The cyberskunk held herself composed however… What was inside the laboratory was incredibly valuable, worth the irritation yet not worth the risk of failure. She breathed heavily through her mask, her heart was the most real of her design and it was exhilarated. Akushū kept herself poised, crouching on the rooftop, allowing the rain to roll off her slick mask. She was only armed with her tail, a few smoke and gas bombs tied to her belt as well as a make-shift lockpick and some rope with a metal grapnel on the end. A low growl emitted from her throat as she threw the hooked rope across from one building to another, swinging with swift movement. Luckily, the laboratory was in a position of low security however that was not a reason to not be cautious. The skunk discarded the night-vis goggles and grasped at the rope with gloved hands and climbed down onto the roof disappearing in darkness.

Akushū had planned this mission out; there were rumours of there being a giant, valuable beast held captive in the laboratory. However, it was not her mission to save it, far from… Instead Akushū’s plan was that she was going to sell it on the black market and get true (not moral) currency. Seemingly there was little to no surveillance around the rooftop and the entryway was a garbage chute nonchalantly left open by some staff member. The skunk had hit the jackpot as she scampered on all fours to slide herself into the unknown black and down into the lab itself. Unbeknownst to the fact that Akushū had just made the worst mistake of her short, unstable life…

Chemical Attraction

Within the lab was a scientist seeming to be documenting his latest findings of the experiment, having discovered that the creature could communicate through audible means. They naturally had to to decipher the meaning from each noise but they were documented and would require testing against theories to come. As of now, the experiment was kept within a seemingly glass terrarium of sorts with vents mounted high above the creature and allowed a 'cave' of sorts as a place to sleep. The chimpanzee smiles at the special creature and rests a hand against the glass, enjoying how simple minded it seemed to be, "You are going to make us a fortune, when all tests are done and the high-risers get a good look at you."

The creature within its habitat glances over to the white coated monkey but pays him little mind for she was more interested in taking care of her home. Her dishes had been filled and she had already been put into the 'work room' earlier, she was made to move rocks from one side to the other with no real objective. She had also been made to run on a rough belt while fixed into one place, it let her get some exercise in for sure but it seemed ineffective for whatever reasoning they wanted her to do so. With the plants trimmed to her satisfaction and the entrance to her home cleaned from debris, there was little else to do but rest for the night.

Akushū did not realise the chute was a straight drop down, perhaps her unprofessionalism was apparent through excitement? She wanted to see this 'almighty scientific breakthrough' too eagerly, she forgot to look down before jumping in. It was obvious she was scared, while falling, the frantic screech of metal against steel-toe shoe caps and slippery glove against steel as she tried to steady herself made her cringe. Under her mask, Akushū felt her skin glow red with anxiety and she clutched her tail bracing to land and however it seemed never-ending and the drop became a slope, becoming more narrow as she slipped down... It was not even a garbage chute, but ventilation pipework! Akushū swore loudly, her voice echoing through the metal tunnels. The place was a maze, how amateur of her! To not even bring a map or building plans was disastrous! Akushū swore again, this time under her breath as she positioned herself into a crawling position. Slowly but surely, the skunk took it upon herself to improvise, noticing in the distance there was shards of white light.

Being confined brought back terrible memories for Akushū... Those times where one thing she did not need to dwell on right now as reaching the vent hatchet revealed that she was looking down straight onto the human in a lab coat... He was scrawling eligible things down on some paper and before she knew it and the sound of a door opening and closing he was out of sight. It was almost impossible to see what else was in there but she could not stand to be so squished so the skunk lifted the vent's flap and dived down.

The room had an uncomfortable bright white light and looked rather small. Human sized equipment, the scent of coffee and a lot of paperwork was cluttered around the room and did not pique her interest in the slightest... Akushū sighed, walking over to lock the door from the inside. This place will do, to set up camp. She thought before turning around to actually see the glass enclosure housing HER prize. From the vent's angle, it looked like a small room, but to Akushū’s astonishment there was a whole other, albeit simple, world behind her housing the creature she desired so dearly...

Akushu was incredibly fortunate that the chimpanzee was lost in his own thoughts and had not noticed her clumsy approach from the ventilation shaft. He was eager to try getting some rest before conducting more experiments with the creature that had been engineered with great success tomorrow! There were so many tests that had to be done yet, to see where this creature's limits were and what value it would have outside of being a science marvel! However, there were security cameras that would notice her and it was only a matter of time before security would see someone in the lab that didn't belong there.

On the outside of the glass enclosure is a metal panel with numbers to be pushed, no doubt a code used to unlock the door from the outside. There are also what appear to be pads for the creature to put its first four paws on, likely for making health checks easier for the lab technicians. From within the enclosure there is no way for her to escape on her own; no handles, buttons or even a tunnel linking to the ventilation system and thus ensured that the scientists could retrieve her whenever they wished. There is a collar hanging near the food and water dish door, this is how they equip her for control before allowing her to come out.

The creature had come to notice the newcomer with ease but it did not panic or rush with eagerness, it simply approached to where a small door was. A way of filling the water and food dishes, maybe this new person had a treat for her or wanted her outside of the enclosure for some reason. Her head tilts slightly in curiousness before those large eyes blink and the antennae twitch a little as she tries to detect any new pheromones. She was large, huge by comparison to the skunk cyberpunk, towering well above her even while standing on four of her six limbs and still in a casual stance. Her curiosity grows as the skunk anthro moves to lock the door from the inside, making her wonder to why this newcomer didn't want anyone else to join them, she didn't want to hurt anyone.

Akushū eyes widened with crazed greed and she dropped her mask onto the floor. The creature itself was a radiating blue colour, had somewhat reptilian features that seemed to match with that of some sort of insect. The only problem was that it was locked, locked inside its glass paneled home. The buttons looked impossible to unlock too, it seemed there was special code that needed to be entered before being able to let the creature out; if they even did that. Akushū scanned the inside enclosure; it was tidy and clean however a little small for the extremely tall creature. A nag of pity tugged at her heart.
"Poor thing..." She spoke in a deep voice, before shrugging, it was probably correct that the creature couldn't hear or understand. She couldn't help but think of the wage this creature would bring though and excitement swelled deep in her gut.

The scientist was approaching again as there was a commotion at the door. Akushū swiftly scampered toward a rather large locker and held to door shut, just in time for the scientist to unlock the door again. Those locks are crap if they don't even keep people out... She thought, with one eye focusing through a small gap. The cyberskunk-punk placed her gas mask back over her head and fumbled for a smoke bomb which was attached to her belt, bracing for it to be released if the human held any sudden suspicions. The scientist sneezed loudly and Akushū nearly rolled out her bomb! She relaxed though as it was probably from the her own perfume.

It appeared that the human was going to interact with creature in its glass prison. Akushū kept herself composed; she was not scared just didn't want to blow her cover, she could only just make out the creature from the gap in the locker and was curious to see their relationship and whether the creature was hostile or not...

The scientist was different from the usual handler, he looked strange with big ears, small eyes that where not proportionate. He breathed heavily and was rather plump... His intentions where not clear as it looked as if he was, like Akushū, not meant to be there...

As the skunk suddenly leaves from visiting her and hides away for some reason, she tilts her head a little before thinking that a game was to be played. But, she couldn't play this game while still in her enclosure and couldn't come out without the collar on, it was the rule. She remains standing at to where the little door was and watches the strange female with interest, her large hands from the second pair of limbs raise up to press on the glass wall some. A small couple of clicks from her mandibles is given as to see if the skunk would come over with some encouragement, she wasn't going to hurt the newcomer.

To her surprise, displaying this as her head raises up and she moves to the main exit door of her home, she chirps in response to seeing this particular human coming for a visit. She recognized this man as the 'Queen' or 'Ruler' to the 'colony' and he always had a treat for her to enjoy, she wanted him to see the new skunk visitor too. Maybe once he let her out then he could show the newcomer that she didn't have to hide from anyone here, maybe she'd stay as a enclosure partner? She did get lonely sometimes since she wasn't given much interaction other than running tests, getting treats or walks from time to time.

NPC - COMPANY PRESIDENT

The human was the company's president and came down every so often to check on his investment's progress, no sense in selling stock in something that had nothing to show for it. He takes notice of the experiment's excitement and he can't help but to chuckle, "Calm down girl, you'll get your treat.", he picks up the collar that hangs from the outside and taps to the feeding door, "Come on...you know the rules." He smiles as the creature responds appropriately by coming to the door and sitting down, "Good girl.", he opens the door and slips the collar around the neck's base, clicking the ends together for it to lock. One of his hands comes from behind his back and pets over her head, "I'm almost sad that you can't stay forever.", he smirks at the thought of how much money he was going to earn for just a prototype. Once the collar is fastened, he gestures to the door of the terrarium and smiles as it follows the command, he presses the code to release the experiment.
