THE NEW LEGION

The New Legion is the largest organization in all of Verattia.

Originally named "The Legion", it was intended to be an ever-growing battalion, but was used to ensure that peace and order was kept throughout the world. During those ancient times, the Legion was both feared and respected for its might and the unbreakable unity of its troops. However, the original Legion was disbanded when the most respected Commander, Eshwald Rigivan, was felled in a hundred-year war.

In the aftermath of the war, the original Legion's troops were scattered, and purposeless, until it was reunited by several charismatic individuals within the ranks. It was in those trying times that the New Legion was founded - an imitation of the old group, and a continuation of its renowned services.

Now, the New Legion's purpose is not to ensure peace and order, rather, it is to prevent and avoid any threat to the world from getting large. Things such as wars, monster infestations, etc. are frequently monitored and handled by the New Legion's troops. However, unlike its old incarnation, the New Legion is divided, with each of Verattia's main continents housing a base of operations for the groups several divisions. The tasks that fall under them are always within their territory - a division stationed in Yislone will only act upon events that transpire in Yislone, and a division stationed in Ristafel will only act upon events that transpire there.

Still, the New Legion, like most organizations has a main headquarters - where they store various necessary and extremely valuable information and objects, and where the meetings of the several high officials are held. This is located in the isles of Iscaria, and is heavily secured.

New recruits of the organization has to pass a trial in order to be officially received as members of the group, and those that do not pass are removed. Of course, that is after they finish a three-year training course within the renowned military institutes located in Vadros.

NOTABLE GODS, GODDESSES, AND ANCIENTS

Arce, Goddess of Fate
The sister of Crea, a main goddess. She is worshiped by fortune-tellers and oracles, claiming her as the one true goddess that would lead them to the rightful future. Arce, unlike her sister, does not like to commune with the mortals, not even those are are fully devoted to her. Instead, she watches over them, and sees how they weave the threads of their destiny into either a masterpiece or a failure.

Arce is prayed upon no matter what - even if things go horribly wrong or extremely good. She is believed to "guide" those who are faithful to their true destiny.

The Four Main Gods - Cavalle, Cerpus, Xenos, and Crea
These gods are the center of Verattian religion. They were the ones who turned against the tide of chaos and ruin, and sent the unruly Ancients into the Void.

Cavalle, the God of Creation, is known for his honor and desire for order. Due to such, he has imposed several laws upon the gods that would prevent them from ever setting foot upon the mortal realm again. So far, he has sentenced two gods to be restrained in violation of these laws.

Cerpus, the God of Longevity, is known for extending the life of mortals and his great interest in magic. Most of the Caskarieth-descent see him as their patron god and would usually call upon his name when doing magic incantations. He is currently seen as the "God of Magic", despite having no relation to it.

Xenos, the God of Death and Destruction, is considered as the group's sheep by the common mortal. He is the one of the two who broke Cavalle's laws, and is now currently restrained to a form of a small orb of dark-colored energy, surrounded by chains. As such, his powers are greatly weakened. People see him as the one who gets to choose who will die and who will not, hence, he is prayed upon during dire situations.

Crea, the Goddess of Dreams and Nightmares, is the most loved of them all. More than half of the Verattian population religiously worship her and give offerings. In return, the goddess grants her faithful pleasant dreams - a relaxing escape from the stressful mortal realm. Unfortunately, she has broken one of Cavalle's laws and is subjected to an indefinite sleep.

Keres, Ancient of Ruin
Keres, along with his sister Sithes, were born or termed as twins in Verattia as their powers and influence went hand in hand with each other. Keres had the power of ruin, leading down a path of delusion and suffering upon others and themselves. When the news spread of Ancients wanting to make anew of the world, Keres, along with Sithes, expressed his judgment that an alliance forged with other gods would only bring folly and a ruinous endeavor upon Verattia, bringing another war that would yet destroy the planet once more. The Ancients saw their beliefs as a threat to their own, banishing him, along with Sithes, to the Void.

Sithes, Ancient of Pain
Sithes, along with her brother Keres, were born or termed as twins in Verattia as their powers and influence went hand in hand with each other. Sithes had the power of pain, giving those the emotion of sorrow and grief upon others and themselves. When the news spread of Ancients wanting to make anew of the world, Sithes, along with Keres, expressed how the war between gods brought about the barren lands and that she felt pain for the world of Verattia being ravaged because of their arrogance. The alliance with the gods wanting peace, would only bring suffering and that Verattia should be left alone to nurture itself without the help of gods. The Ancients saw their beliefs as a threat to their own, banishing her, along with Keres, to the Void.

Ssikari, Ancient of Seas
Ssikari is one of the dragon-shaped Ancient siblings. After his unforgivable actions during the Mid-Sea War - causing almost the entirety of the beloved kingdom of Iscaria to disappear, and casting a curse that shortened the lifespan of all mortals, he is seen as one of the most hated and most sinister Ancients in Verattian history. His name is erased from history books and replaced with vague descriptions and names. Before being sent to the Void again, during the Mid-Sea War, he created two powerful creatures from his own blood - both which are now feared at the monsters of the Mid-Sea: the Kraken, and the sea serpent, Leviathan.

REMNANTS

Remnants are the creatures left behind by the Ancients who went free during the Mid-Sea War, before they were sent back to the Void. Unlike regular Verattian creatures, Remnants are extremely powerful and do what their Ancient commands them to do. Some of these are known and feared by the average mortal, despite not knowing their true origin.

Examples of these creatures are Leviathan and the Kraken, who both seek to reclaim the seas for their "father" - Ssikari. The two Remnants plague the seas by destroying voyaging all kinds of naval transport, even fishing boats, and in rare occasions, attacking select parts of Verattian land.

Remnants are part of The New Legion's many problems, and are usually handled by veteran soldiers to avoid unnecessary loss of life.

KREILTIN

Kreiltin is a remote, tiny island located in the Mid-Sea, somewhere between the Isles of Iscaria and Ahrimia. The landscape there is filled with various kinds, deserts, swamps, forests, plains, etc. Such has caused the island to be seen as an anomaly, though the religious acknowledge it as a blessing from the gods, due to the high amount of natural resources it contains, despite its minuscule size.

Due to such, people migrate there to live a peaceful and quiet life, away from all the mess happening around the world. In fact, it was even considered as a retiring ground at one point in history. Despite being a desired location, the populace is quite small, due to the increasing fear of sea travel, and the lack of an air-based means of transport.

Even if the isle is remote, it remains to be updated to the current times. There are a few traces of the recent technology from Arenhail, and news from the others corners of the world are easily heard in several parts of the island.

The place was a tiny paradise. Unfortunately, with the sudden surge of storms occurring around the isle, the place is now in danger of being ruined.

This island is the destination of the fresh recruits from The New Legion.
