Appearance:
On most days, Wick wears a red/black flannel jacket over his cozy grey hoodie. He wears white tennis shoes and skinny jeans which tend to emphasize his slouch. His frameless glasses is a slight detail to show how sensitive he is to things, even if it’s just the frame of his lenses. Wick paints his nails black which is a pinpoint for Ned to call him a queer. He has a very lanky body type despite being an appropriate height of 5’7” but it’s very noticeable that he’s underweight. He has little freckles that adorn his cheeks which is pleasing to his sister when he smiles, they especially work well for his dark tan skin. So he’s been hit on for his cute looks but his social anxiety quickly sends interests away.
Backstory:
It was when he was 12 he was told that his father was put on “government surveillance”. The officers told him that his dad was going to be away from home for awhile. Wick asked his mom, “did Dad do a bad thing? What’s happening?” She simply replied, with tears in her eyes, “your dad’s being very strong for us. He’s protecting a lot of people, so we have to be strong too, ok?” A comforting thought though was that they were going to visit him on the weekends, so eventually the whole mystery that was his father’s predicament washed away. But he was quickly reminded as time went on.
Their dad made a crazy amount of income which lasted till Wick was 14, but things have changed now and the family was running low on cash. Carmen started working part time so social services wouldn’t be involved. Wick, on the other hand, was left behind in the confusion, not being told anything or explained why this was happening. He tried to be therapeutic, when Carmen and Mom got home, he’d smiled wide and stutter out an “how was your day?” It was enough for his mother, but not for Carmen. She grew pessimistic and depressed and even told Wick off with his “therapy”. Saying, “Can we stop pretending that things are gonna get better? Can you do that for me, Wick?” He told her otherwise, that things WERE going to get better, it was only a matter of time. She ignored him. Then, one day, social services arrived.
Wick was so confused, weren’t they doing well? Was it not enough? Against their will, Wick and Carmen were put in the car. Their mom was screaming out, fighting back, saying that she would make a stable income and that she could care for them, she just needed more time. They didn’t listen, and the car drove off. Wick wept and wept, he yelled at the driver, telling them to turn around but it fell on deaf ears. They tried to calm him down, saying that they were just going to a foster home until his mom could care for them. But Carmen had enough. She forced open the door mid-drive and ran off as the car came to a sudden stop. Wick called her to come back but she ran far, far out of sight.
The next thing he knew, they were driving to the hospital after a certain accident. He was reunited with his mom, you can imagine the relief they felt as they held each other close in tears. Carmen was not there for the reunion, though. Wick asked and asked and was getting real sick of this everything’s-going-to-be-okay bullshit. Finally, the doctor came out and explained what happened. Seeking refuge, she had climbed a building next to power plant. Before officials could reach her, a monster had crept behind her and attacked, causing her to fall 15 feet right into the power plant. Officials were investigating this phenomenon as monsters rarely attacked suburban towns, but that's beside the point. Carmen was fine, she miraculously survived somehow and they were more than welcome to visit her. And that’s when Wick met Robert Anderson.
They went inside to visit her, and there by her bedside was a strange man. Carmen introduced him to her family saying that he was a good friend. Wick was very confused, Carmen looked so happy for someone who almost died. In fact, she looked happier than she ever had been in her life, who was this man? His mom was just as confused as he was but after a private chat she was practically overjoyed that this man existed. You’d think if it was such good news that Wick wouldn’t be left in the dark like this, but he was. Robert had a silver tongue when it came to officials and social services decided that he was right and that a different approach was needed. Several months later, it was decided. There was place Carmen could go. Wick couldn’t describe it, it sounded like paradise. It was like a boarding school, or something. It gave Carmen everything she needed and she could come home whenever she’d like. Mom didn’t need to worry about her and with a little help with employment (thanks to Robert) she could afford to keep Wick.
But Wick wasn’t happy, Carmen could bask in all the glory and forget everything he did for her but he still had to deal with REAL life. Somehow Robert replaced him and now everyone was treating HIM as if he needed therapy. He didn’t need this kind of attention, after all it wasn’t like they were going to tell him anything even if he asked who the FUCK was Robert. But he wouldn’t complain, he wouldn’t vent, he’ll play along in the fantasy if that’s what makes them happy. He’ll let that hate brew so he can remember where all the pain started, stupid Robert.
