The Channeling

Round 2 - Stage 1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first wave was dealt quickly and Dina is making progress with the bridge. So far so good, but more crystal enemies are emerging.

"How do you like my Azshari?" asks the Taint in Dina's mind, probably in a petty attempt to divert her attention.

OOC: Enemy 1, Enemy 2, Enemy 3, and Enemy 4 have spawned some distance from the fellowship.

The bridge is now at 7 feet.

Both Meric and Henvei immediately engage with arrow and fire, but fall short of glory. The place is pitch black aside of the glowing crystals scattered around and the hounds are moving fast. It's no big surprise.

Violet loosens her second arrow, but this one isn't as lucky as the previous one. She misses.

The Channeling

Round 2 - Stage 2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All four of the Azshari manage to get up close and personal, and attack the fellowship. One engages Meric who is forced to defend himself with a sword, another lunges for Laurolf, while the remaining two run straight for Dina.

OOC: Enemy 1 attacks Meric with a score of 4. Enemy 2 attacks Laurolf with a score of 3. Enemy 2 and Enemy 3 attack Dina with a score of 2 each.

[dice]4239[/dice]

Meric and Laurolf meet their attackers readily and repel them - though the dwarf just barely. Meanwhile Tharos and Xenthriss intercept the two beasts that were heading for Dina, effectively reducing them to rubble.

The girl is able to safely continue channeling.

Dina's concentration reduces slightly for a split moment as she is distracted by the Taints words. She manages to keep the bridge growing steadily for 5 more feet. Dina doesn't concern herself with whatever the Taint is talking about trusting her compatriots will keep her safe.

The Channeling

Round 3 - Stage 1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A third wave of enemies pours out of the crystal fissure.

OOC: Enemy 1, Enemy 2, Enemy 3 and Enemy 4 have spawned some distance from the fellowship.

The bridge is now at 12 feet.

Meric and Violet launch another couple of arrows in an attempt to lessen their numbers. One arrow misses its mark completely, the other one barely.

The Channeling

Round 3 - Stage 2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All four of the Azshari manage to reach the group and begin attacking. One goes for Xenthriss, one for Silverlane, and two try to slip past them and get to Dina.

OOC: Enemy 1 attacks Xenthriss with a score of 1, Enemy 2 attacks Silverlane with a score of 4, while Enemies 3 and 4 attack Dina with a score of 3.

[dice]4360[/dice]

Xenthriss easily dispatches the Azshari that dared attempt an attack on him, crushing it to pieces with a single blow. Silverlane had a bit more trouble defending himself, though - he destroys the crystal hound but only barely avoiding injury.

As for the two Azshari that headed for Dina...

Meric stands in the way of the first, cutting it apart with grace. The second Azshari dodges Laurolf's axe however, and is just about to jump on poor Dina when Feyn appears out of nowhere and tears its head off with her drakkar scimitar with a perfectly positioned blow.

That accounts for all of the enemies, leaving the girl free to channel in peace.

The Channeling

Round 4 - Stage 1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Slowly but surely, Dina increases her hold over the dark power. She begins feeling herself more in tune with the flow inside the crystals. Even her heartbeat slowly synchronizes with the pulsating purple glow. Suddenly, the twin crystals increase even more beyond her standard channeling success, startling even her.

The Taint echoes with panic and dismay, increasing its efforts in desperation. A second fissure ruptures at the other side of the gates, and crystal hounds begin pouring out of it too. There's half a dozen of them now, threatening to overwhelm the fellowship once they reach it.

OOC: Enemies 1-3 spawned from the first crystal fissure, and Enemies 4-6 from the second one.

The bridge is increased by a bonus of 10 feet, making it a 27 feet total. From now on, each growth is twice as powerful.

Meric and Violet are equally unsuccessful in their attempts as well.

The Channeling

Round 4 - Stage 2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All six of the Azshari reach the fellowship. They disperse; two lunge for Meric, one for Feyn, one for Tharos and two head for Dina.

"Protect the girl at all costs!" Meric manages a shout before he is forced to defend himself against his attackers.

OOC: Enemies 1 and 2 attack Meric with a score of 1 and 2. Enemy 3 attacks Feyn with a score of 2. Enemy 4 attacks Tharos with a score of 4. Enemies 5 and 6 attack Dina with scores of 1 and 3.

Meric swiftly dispatches the two crystal hounds that attacked him. Feyn as well.

At the same time, Xenthriss destroys one of the two Azshari that were heading for Dina. Henvei attempts to hit the other one but his magic misses and the girl remains threatened.

OOC: Most of the enemies have been destroyed. Tharos still needs to defend against his attacker and someone needs to move against the last remaining threat to Dina.

Tharos dispatches his attacker gracefully, and Laurolf saves Dina in the last possible moment.

Once again, the girl is able to channel undisturbed.

The Channeling

Round 5 - Stage 1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The crystal bridge looks impressive, but it is still not long enough to enable the fellowship to cross over. Knowing how close they are, the Taint launches one final attack in an attempt to overwhelm Dina's guardians.

Azshari continue pouring out of both fissures. Meric shouts in frustration: "Is there no end to these beasts?!"

OOC: Enemies 1-4 spawn from the left fissure, and Enemies 5-8 spawn from the right fissure.

The bridge is now 47 feet long out of the required 53.

Vittorio Valtieri

The Gentleman Necromancer

Valtieri hurls more charged bones at the approaching monsters. One of the scattered bones bursts in a pulse of spectral energy right in the path of an Azshari. It runs a few steps more, but each footfall cracks and breaks it further until only dust remains.

The Channeling

Round 5 - Stage 2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All enemies except the hound destroyed by Valtieri are able to approach the fellowship and attack. Tharos, Meric, Feyn, and Valtieri are each attacked by one Azshari while the remaining three run straight for Dina.

OOC: Enemy 2 attacks Tharos with a score of 2. Enemy 3 attacks Meric with a score of 4. Enemy 4 attacks Feyn with a score of 2. Enemy 5 attacks Valtieri with a score of 2.

Enemies 6, 7 and 8 attack Dina with respective scores of 3, 2 and 4.

[dice]4429[/dice]

Tharos Silverlane

The Sword of Ages

Tharos holds up his swords in a defensive X formation. He digs the heel of his boot into the ground to stabilize himself for the attack, prepared to uncross his blades in forward slashes. When the beast does strike, he manages to deflect it, knocking it back a ways with a wound of its own. The knight quickly resumes him position for combat.

[dice]4434[/dice]

The place had practically turned into a battlefield. Shards of broken crystals and rock litter the ground, and though none of the fellowship were hurt, there were some close calls.

Meric experiences one of them as the defeats his attacker but only barely - earning a scratch on the arm. Feyn dispatches her opponent with more grace, but there's still the matter of the three Azshari heading for Dina.

Laurolf and Xenthriss get in the way, battleaxe and greatsword coming down like angels of death upon the crystal hounds. Both fall, but the third one slips through. A moment of panic while it looks like the hound is about to unleash on the girl, but then it blows up in an explosion of blue fire, shattering, parts of it plunging down into the abyss.

Henvei looks most pleased with himself. "Finally." he says.

Violet is the one who kills the last dog of war, saving Valtieri from having to managing a defense with his staff. With the imminent danger removed, Dina is free to complete her channeling.

Special Event Ended

The Channeling

(the RP resumes default gameplay style)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dina's last effort pushes the bridge nearly touching the other side. "Alright, enough!" shouts Meric. "Let's go before we have to face more of them! Dina?" Carefully, the elf tries to help the girl return to reality.

http://www.rpdom.com/threads/dina-ailsa.53054/http://www.rpdom.com/threads/dina-ailsa.53054/

Dina senses Meric's call like ripples on water. She relaxes her hands and mentally cuts the connection to crystals and the Taint. It takes Dina a moment to take all the changes of the chamber in. Crystal and rock pieces all over the ground, the crystal bridge, her teammates who looked like they were in a fight. They must have been fighting whatever that was that the Taint mentioned to me. She thought as she moved across the bridge and onto the other side. She couldn't help but be proud of her work and it was apparent in the way she held herself.
