"Is that so, Princess Vava?" Freya was saying intrigued. Or at least, she made her voice sound intrigued, even interested. Even, welcoming. Not that she was any of those. She wanted that man gone. She had no real use of him. Not anymore... Or not any that she could discern on the surface, but she was a shrewd leader, and a competent businesswoman, of all things. Perhaps, some sort of negotiation could be made...

Though this was un-fortuitous timing, and very invasive, in her opinion. The wedding day itself may have been over, but Valken's were known to party for longer than the day's celebration. Oh well, it was fine. She would meet with this man, and see what he had to say. As long as no one was the wiser of it all, it would not matter. "The timeline puts him... in the city within the day... If, only you could've told me sooner..." She watched Vava's cold gaze meet hers just under her creepy hood.

"Aha.. I merely meant, that would've been nice! But I suppose magic does it's own thing, does it not? Oh ho ho.." Freya oddly, seemed to shut her trap, silenced by Vava? Not for long.

"Well, we best prepare, the man will invade - I mean.. No, that is what I mean. Our home for awhile, I'm sure. -Ah! I meant 'be an honored guest'! Yes, of course!" She clapped her hands, and many servants entered the room quickly. Freya gave them quick orders to set up several rooms for several guests, giving him a rather large, comfortable one, and they all dashed away to make the appropriate arrangements. Focusing her attention on her youngest sister, she stated, "Thank you, for this information Vava. His dropping by unannounced is... Well, it is concerning, at the very least. Your warning -even if it was short notice- is much appreciated. You.. you are.. dismissed."

Vava floating nearby, like usual, looked up at her sister hearing something most uncouth come from Freya's lips. Normally, the young girl was not one to particularly care, but this was her magic being called into question; there had to be some line drawn, right? It was fine, her elder sister seemed to back away from this line of thought, only to fumble out a few more useless words in courtly rhetoric that no one would really care about. Not that there was anyone around to really notice, besides she and.. maybe a few others, but eh whatever.

After sending the servants away to do their business, Vava got a thank you. A weird, half-arsed one, sort of, but it would do. The small girl dipped her head, then turned to float away. It wasn't like she needed a dismissal from Freya, but the words itself was enough to make the little Mesmer get gone. Sometimes she just couldn't really stand her eldest sister's company. Not that anyone would really know by looking at Vava.

It would be hours later in the middle of the day that this man would supposedly arrive...

Last night had been quite a series of events for Jackson. First, he had helped protect the Princess and Hayate from an Outlander attack and thereby earn attention from Queen Freya herself. Of course that also went with trying to prevent a scene by the orders of the queen by "arresting" Marth. However, he didn't exactly arrest him either and filled him in on what was going on in the kingdom. The man was obviously not an outlander, at least in the case of those trying to attack the celebration last night. These thoughts echoed in his mind as he was walking about the streets in leather with a noble-ish accent added to them. He was also armed with all of his weapons as well including his silver sword, his killing edge, and his Arcfire tome, something nobody in the Valken capital had seen him use. While walking he caught sight of a man rushing in his direction from afar although it didn't look as though he was running at him. However, as he got closer he in fact was running towards him and he seemed to be holding a scroll of sorts. Jackson stopped moving and the messenger shortly reached him. "Sir Jackson, I have a message for you from her majesty," he spoke before handing him an envelope with the Royal Crest on the wax stamp. Jackson took the envelope and the messenger departed whilst Jackson broke the seal and silently read the message.

Sir Jackson Pierce,

            You made some waves last night in protecting my sister and her bride during the attack last night as well as keeping the arrest of the Outlander pretender Marth quiet. I looked into your family and you were indeed a Valken noble, despite how you looked; something very valuable indeed. You demonstrated your ability both with swordplay and secrecy last night and due to this I require your assistance with a matter. You are immediately requested to come to the castle and not to speak of this to anyone. Show the guards the royal crest I have enclosed within this envelope to expedite your arrival

Regards,

Her Royal Majesty, Freya Valkyre

P.S. Burn this letter once you have finished reading its' contents. I cannot stress enough how much of a secret this must be kept.

Once he finished reading it, Jackson tipped the letter and a crest tumbled out and into his hand. Jackson then placed the letter back into the envelope and took out his tome of Arcfire and spoke an incantation setting it alight before dropping it onto the ground and watching as it curled into a blackened remnant of what it once was. Once the fires had finished their job, Jackson stomped on the parchment causing the mess to turn into ash. Placing the crest in his pocket Jackson rushed to the castle.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jackson soon promptly arrived and the guards stopped him with crossed pole arms and a loud resounding, "HALT!" Jackson held up the crest and the guards knew immediately what it was. The queen was known to send out crests to Valkens, but never really elaborated on why except to let them in, no exceptions. The guards then saluted and one escorted him to where the queen was currently. Once he had reached the room where she was, the guard knocked on the door and spoke, "Your Majesty! Someone with a crest is here to see you!"
Emperor Radfor Alavastar
-Here comes the Boulder!-
images-137.jpg
The noontime sun was beating down overhead as the Boulder clankily made his way through the paved streets of the Valken Capitol. He had arrived at this continent after a period of almost three months sailing, with nothing but his armor, his axe, his Man-O-War ship, and the sailors that got him here. Against the wishes of pretty much everyone in his court back at Narvasen and his parents, he had decided to make the trip here to Valken personally. It was true that they had very suddenly stopped their supply of Alic-Silk, a very precious item to Narvasen at the moment; Alic-Silk was a rare magic-infused silk that was used to create some of the most powerful tomes and mage robes out there. Valken was the only country he was aware of that produced it commercially, and with the Red Sabre proving to be a bigger threat each passing day, Radfor knew that the sword alone wouldn't be able to stop them should they try to rise against the Empire; they would need mages, and mages need tomes.
But as he walked through the stone streets of the Valken Capitol, Zephyr being used as a walking stick and yet another axe attached to the back of his armor, he couldn't help but feel a tinge of doubt fill his mind. Perhaps he was too rash to go himself; maybe it was just a mistake of communication on Valkens part. The odd stares he kept getting from nearly everyone he passed wouldn't cease either, and it began to make him feel uncomfortable. He understood why they stared; its not everyday you see a giant of a man in full armor walking through the streets, with an axe even bigger than him. He tried not to focus on it as he continued up the stone paths that lead to the castle.
Eventually, he arrived at the main gate. Two armored guards with large shields awkwardly stood in front of him. One of them cleared his throat awkwardly, and the other refused to make eye contact, preferring to stare at the ground.
"Halt, uh...traveler! Um...o-only those with official business may enter the Keep."
Radfor looked down at the smaller men in front of him and raised an eyebrow; what an odd pair these two made. He could tell that they were indeed intimidated just by looking at them, and he smiled and laughed a deep, low laugh.
"Oh, you can relax, my friends. I'm not here to lay siege to your Keep or anything, hahahhahahaha!"
The two guards were obviously confused, and they looked at each other with puzzled faces. The Boulder wiped a tear from his eye; evidently his joke was much funnier to him than the guards.
"No, that's not why I am here. I have need to speak with the one you call Freya. Is she perhaps around here?"
The guards looked at each other again and one spoke quickly to the other in a low voice.
"Go and get Freya quickly! Before he eats me!"
The other guard nodded and took off into the keep, leaving the other guard nervous and alone, still not making eye contact.
"Uh...j-just wait here while we confirm this with Her Majesty. Please?"
The guard added in the last word with an embarrassed shuffle, to which the Boulder laughed again.
"Hahahahahaha! Oh, very well then. I can be patient. Let's just hope your friend doesn't take too long, then; I'm rather famished."
He licked his lips as he looked down at the guard, implying that he was seeing him as a snack. The guard visibly swallowed and took a shakey step back, which just made him laugh again, and he slapped his hand down on the shoulder of the guard, who had to try very hard not to fall over from it.
"Hahahahahahahahahahaha! Oh, you're too easy, my friend! Come now, lighten up! It was merely a jest!"
The guard coughed awkwardly and gave a very nervous laugh as he stared up at the giant of a man, saying a quick prayer to one of the Gods to grant him protection.
(And anyone else who saw him.)
Furia was inside her tactics room, plotting our various tactics for upcoming encounters with the Outlander army and their so called "General". At this point you would think the generals below her would've taken care of the Outlander scum yet they've been making fools of themselves by being beaten, by making mistakes that shouldn't have happened in the first place.
Now she and the other three grand Generals had to get involved because of the stupidity the others were making. Though since Furia is the only one available, the task of winning this war was on her. She looked at various tactics the outlanders have used, trying to get a sense of their pattern of attack. It would seem like....
Suddenly there was a knock on her chamber door which Furia responded with a frustrated sigh and spoke with the same frustration.
"What! What is It! It better be important!"
"Her majesty requires your presence!"
"Fine, I'm on my way."
The sounds of shuffling and paper ruffles echoed in the room and then Furia opened her door, clad in her iconic armor with sword and shield strapped to her person, she went to go see Freya.
Kneeling before her majesty Furia spoke "You requested my presence your majesty?"
She then stood up when permitted to do so and awaited Freya's answer.
Freya looked towards the guard, and afforded him a genteel smile. "Very good, let him through." When Jackson came through, she gave him a nod of acknowledgement. It was fine he was here. For now.. As long as he behaved himself, he seemed like he could be of use in this time.
This room was a council room of sorts. With a large, opulent table that appeared to be wooden, but it had intricate silver and golden designs furnishing it. Maybe it was just a mix of strong wood, and beautiful silver and gold. Only Valken people would put gold and silver directly into a wooden table to make it look better. Many seats were around the table. Freya herself, was standing, awaiting all the guests that would arrive for this... unexpected meeting.
Peering down at her subordinate, Freya spoke, "Rise Furia. He is coming. The man known as.. The Boulder," she murmured, not particularly caring for such a nickname, but it was easier to just use that. In case any wandering ears would be listening. She didn't suspect there were such ears near this particularly guarded room, but Freya was usually a cautious woman. Paranoid, some would say.
Vava was nearby, also allowed to such a meeting. The entirety of the royal family knew of this man, and his kingdom across the vast sea. It was possible for Vava to discover this kingdom, with her magic, if she hadn't been told directly. The small girl had no chair, floating in midair. A crystal ball was on the table before her, and she appeared to be looking into it, swirling her hands before it. Freya across the room gave the girl a look and rolled her eyes.
Fynrir Valkyrie
A short likeness of Lenneth suddenly appeared beside the large man out front the castle gates. Lenneth's twin sister, who was just a tad shorter, but a lot more cuter!!~ Hehe.. Probably. "Hi there, mister! Boulder-san, sir!" she purred, staring bright eye'd up at him.
"Eeee.." she whined, rubbing the side of her head. She was still suffering a hangover from the festivities last night. "OH! I'm Fynrir, in case you didn't know! Onechan... F-Freya sent me! Follow me, big boy!!" With that, the gates opened, and she lead the way inside. Leading the way all the way to the conference room chosen.
Jackson was let through and noticed Queen Freya nod to him causing him to do the same. He stood in the room near where the queen was, but not too near. If he had to guess he was called here as a bodyguard of sorts, but that was only a theory. However, his eyebrows raised at the mention of "The Boulder" who or what could earn a nickname such as that. Taking a quick look around the room, he saw that he was horribly outclassed here as he was neither royalty nor high ranking army member, he had simply earned himself an invitation based on how he protected the princess.
Isaac stood outside the conference room biding his time as he awaited the meeting to finish.  Normally retainers would be allowed to attend such a meeting but Isaac was a special case considering he was part of the Argentum family.  As such he was to simply stand outside and guard the room.  He had no interests anyways, as soon as the meeting was over he'd say his few greetings to Lady Vava, then leave to his lab, unless of course his services were required.  He kept his hands behind his back, his eyes shifting occasionally left to right along the hallway without so much as turning his head.  He'd made a note of Furia entering the room, to which he'd give a small bow to the general before returning to his former position.  As a little time passed, another figure unknown to him would also enter the room.  He seemed oddly out of place, considering the room was filled with royalties and generals.  Still if he was invited into the room, they must have some sort of good reason.  The last guest was even more out of place armed with axes and holding a hearty laughter.  He seemed like a troublesome fellow but he was being escorted by Lady Fynrir which confirmed his suspicion on whether or not he really belonged here.  Once again giving a slight bow to the princess without so much as a word he would return to remain stationary.
-Here comes the Boulder!-
images-137.jpg
The Boulder raised an eyebrow as he turned around, searching for the source of the voice that was speaking to him. Eventually, he looked down and gave a laugh.
"Hahaha! Oh, I almost didn't see you there, lassie! Just be careful next time; I might step on you on accident!"
The girl was very sprightly, which suited him just fine. She told him to follow her, and seeing that she seemed to know where to go, he picked up a pace behind her. It was odd how she called him 'Boulder-san' though. Back in Narvasen, he was known as 'The Boulder' because of his frequency to crush his enemies with little to no resistance; his reputation must proceed him somehow. Still, he paid no mind to it as he kept his sights on the girl in front of him as she led him through the labyrinth of a castle.
Eventually, she brought him to a room with a fancy dressed man standing outside of it, his arms crossed over his chest. He looked like he didn't want to be there, but he only glanced once towards The Boulder before resuming his thousand yard stare ahead. The Boulder shrugged, pushing the large wooden doors open. It was an extravagant room, with an ornate circular table taking up most of its space. Inside were a multitude of people, but the one that caught his eye instantly was the young girl floating in pace. The Boulders eyes widened, and he was struck with an immediate want to question her how she was able to do such a thing; he had always kept a certain respect and fascination towards magic users, and loved to learn all he could about something he would more than likely never be able to do himself.
But he held himself back as his eyes scanned the rest of the room. There was a boy who looked rather out of place compared to the other armor clad women in the room, one of which was dressed in the armor usual to that of a Wyvern Rider. Radfor gave that one a curt nod; the Wyverns in Narvasen were more like Drakes and a little harder to tame, but he respected anyone who had the will and courage to battle on the back of a dragon. Then there was the silver armored woman, with flowing blonde hair. Radfor might've given her a whistle if he hadn't remembered that he was here on business. He cleared his throat and stepped forward, Zephyr still in his hand.
"So! Which one of you is in charge around here? That Freya lass is, right? Is she here or have I dropped by at an unwelcome time?"
At the front of the doorway leading into the conference room, the spritely girl noticed something odd. "Eh?" she squeaked out, tilting her head, shifting purple locks, before going inside. "Isaac-kun! What'cha doin' out here, silly bun?" She looked around the hall. "It's super boring out here! Come inside! I'm sure Vava misses you! What's the point of being a retainer if you just sit out here?" Did he really not think he could join? With a giggle and a smile at him, she lead the way inside.
Freya Valkyrie
Kiyahdx.jpg
Freya was not thrilled with this day's events. The blonde woman merely wanted to be out, partying with the rest of Valken, who had remained partying from the marriage yesterday. Instead, this lame, stupid business came up, and her mood had soured. In walked a large man, lead behind Lenneth's twin sister. He was large, intense, impressive and intimidating. Well, not intimidating to her, but she knew most would not wish to stand beside him if they could avoid it. She couldn't deny that presence. With a momentary glance to the corner, where Vava was, she vaguely wondered how her little eerie sister had become the way she had. If not for her unusual magic, they never would've known of this sudden meeting.
"Heh.. Is that anyway to speak to your Queen?" she asked forth. Freya, honestly, still thought of her mother as 'the Queen', but since most else thought she was, the blonde merely ran with it. "You come by, and are met with our hospitality, but that's your tone?" she inquired, stepping forth. "I am Freya, and I rule Valken, state your business here." Also, sure, he may not think of her as his Queen, what with that stupid pride of his, but she certainly did. Valken was the only true land.
Jackson was waiting for "the boulder" or whoever this person was to arrive when as if his thoughts manifested, the mystery man suddenly surfaced. He surfaced with Fynrir as well, someone who Jackson remembered as being very flirty and giggly. Although he also noticed Freya's sour mood when addressing him; perhaps she wanted to participate in the festivities more? Jackson wanted to continue to celebrate as well, though not as in excess as most Valkens due to not acting like one for a very long time. Until then, he simply remained silent until someone called on him.
Radfor had to blink a couple of times to be sure that this was what he was looking at. The tiny, silver clad blonde woman turned to him and told him that she was in charge. Really? With a name like Freya, Radfor was expecting a much more...bigger woman, with some sort of bronze armor and a large golden spear. And she seemed so young for a Queen...and where was her King, for that matter? Perhaps she had not taken a suitor yet? He sighed and shook his head, sitting down in one of the many chairs around the circular table, using Zephyr as support. However, her tone was very stern, not matching her cutesy demeanor. Radfor laughed from his seat.
"Hahahahaha! Well, ain't you one heck of a lass! But I like a woman who's direct. I'll get straight to the point."
He settled in his seat, a serious look coming onto his face, making his once friendly looking green eyes seem much more intimidating.
"It's about the Alic-Silk. You've stopped sending it. And we need it. I'm here to secure it by any means neccesary."
Isaac would adjust his glasses as Fynrir mentioned his name.  He had trouble dealing with such cheerful people, especially when it was a princess, he couldn't simply show his annoyance and ignore her.  "If it's the royal family's orders, I will join the meeting." he would say in a monotone voice giving another bow to the girl.  Walking into the room along with the two, he'd proceed to sit himself beside Vava. "Princess.." he'd say as a slight greeting before putting his hands together and observed everyone in the room.
Keatii
Keatii knew she had to face the facts that the lands outside of Valken territory were dangerous to people who looked as Valken as she did.  It was dangerous before, but now with Brother Yosef gone, there wasn't anyone that was willing to trek into the Outlands for mission work.  The rest of the clergy just wanted to stay where it was safe and turn a blind eye to the people suffering there, something Keatii couldn't do.  She had seen the starving babies, and the despondent mothers who couldn't take care of their children.  She thought about them and that's when she knew that that was why she had to go.  Brother Yosef would have wanted her to continue helping, and that was exactly what she needed to do.
But first, she needed an escort.
Being a ward of the clergy, it was easy enough to gain access to the castle.  The guards knew her well enough by now.  She was the odd girl who had followed that bleeding-heart brother around.  Okay, so maybe she didn't have the best reputation around the castle, but people knew her and luckily, they were a bit charmed by her looks.  She was still sweet and kind like a lady should be, she was just a bit atypical when it came to her work.  Still, bribes of sweet breads she had made and some well placed lies about needing to meditate in the gardens always helped when she needed favors done for her.  The guards let her in easily enough.  Now the issue was finding someone who would have an audience with her.
She walked into the palace with purpose and poise, like she knew exactly what she was there for and she'd not take no for an answer.  Though, as she meandered down the hallways, it was soon becoming evident that she was lost.  She wandered for a bit before she saw a springy young girl (most likely Fynrir) bounce down the hallway, lead by a large looming man with a huge battle axe.  The man had to be twice the size of her.  That's when the thought hit her.  Maybe this large, looming man could help her on her mission.  He would be sure to intimidate anyone who tried to attack her!  It was perfect!
She followed the two at a distance, making sure she was rounding corners just as they were rounding the far corners.  It soon lead the girl to a door, which had already been shut by the time she had made it there.  From the voices coming from inside, it seemed to be a meeting of some sort.  Though some Keatii wasn't completely familiar with all the social graces of this place, she did know that when the Queen (whom's voice she could hear quite clearly) was in a meeting, there was no interrupting it.  Instead, the Manakete stood by the door, waiting for the meeting to end.  Hopefully she wouldn't be there for too long.
Freya Valkyrie
Freya stared at the large man, her face flat, revealing little else than a certain hint of placid disdain. 'Need it', is that so? A smile changed her features, showing amicability. "Ah, I see. Of course. Did you really need to come directly here for such trifling matters?" She asked, hands out in emphasis to her words, downplaying his 'need' and his statements. "If you hadn't.. noticed," she murmured, glancing around the room. There were people here not privy to this secret, but vagueness would keep them out of the loop.
"We are in a time of civil war," she went on, eyes finding the big man again. He may have been sitting now, but she remained standing. "It is a trying time, I implore you to see. The... The Outlanders, they attack our caravans at every crossroad. On every road. In every nook and cranny of our kingdom, they scurry out from like roaches. It... it is difficult to see to such meager matters. The war efforts come first, I'm sure a man.. of your stature and position understands."
Vava watched Fynrir lead people in behind her. Namely Isaac her retainer. Taking her eyes off of the magic ball for once, she looked at him. The small girl offered him the slightest of smiles, and said very softly, "Izic," her 'pet name' for him. Really it was just his name said so softly and quickly, that that's how it just came out. "Gud't'see'yew," she continued her soft-spoken, quickly stated speech. Then, she turned back to the magical swirling clouds in that ball, ignoring the others in the room for the time being. Even the large man, hardly garnered a glance from the floating purple-haired, hooded girl.
