Chapter 1: A Wedding and a War

Jackson led Marth down a few more sets of stairs before arriving in the dungeons with Marth. He then signaled a nearby guard before walking up to him and speaking to him. "Sorry to bother you, but I have a prisoner for the dungeons. This comes backed by the authority of Queen Freya herself, who sent me to apprehend this outlander."

When Marth was taken down into the dungeons his face changed as if he resented Jackson. He told the guard that Marth was an Outlander and that he was put here by Queen Freya.

He began to yell "I told you I'm not an Outlander! I am Prince Marth of Altea and you will let me go this instant!"

Math began to struggle against the bonds Jackson placed upon him to make it appear that he was a prisoner, and to no avail. His bonds would not break and his shoulders slumped in defeat but he still had the face of resentment.

"When my father hears of this, there will be consequences to pay! You hear me? Consequences!!!"

The guard took a moment to loom at Marth and nodded to Jackson "Alright, if it's the queens orders then I see nothing wrong with letting you both in, just let me open the door."

The guard turned around and unlocked the door and allowed the two in before giving Jackson a key "Just make sure the cell is locked, oh and if you want to interrogate him please do so. Though I don't think you'll get much from this looney."

"How Dare you! I am not crazy! I am Prince Marth and you will let me go!"

The guard motioned for Jackson and Marth to proceed on inside.

Shy was waiting in her cell after some time had passed, presumably the party had been going quite awhile now; here, she remained, trying to figure out what she could do to escape. She could try to draw the current guard over, but before anything really came to fruition in her mind, two people came up. After the man interacted with the man there, he let them in, stating a few things, and giving the Valken man a key. Raising her eyebrow, she stood up, and walked to the front of her cell, grabbing the bars, and leaning over, watching, intrigued.

Brushing some of her long cerulean hair out of her face, she stared at the new people. With a confused look upon her face, she listened in, really reminding herself why she was good at spying. This man... was Outlander? He shouted being some sort of Prince.. Which no Outlander was, so that was already confusing, but it seemed like the man bringing him in, thought this. Freya? She thought as well? Well, this man's clothes did not match Valken exactly, but they were far far far too nice to be Outlander.

Just what was going on here? She stared, then narrowed her eyes. This man, was not Outlander. Or not any Outlander she knew. She had never seen him before, and his opulent, prissy clothes were enraging. No Outlander would ever wear anything like that. Surely, Freya understood that? She supposed he could just be wearing them to try to sneak about the capitol, but if he was caught and thrown in here... It was just a confusing situation. Shy wanted answers.

"Tragic, ain't it? And here I thought Marth was a decent fellow. Turns out he's a loon. Who would've guessed?"

A figure dressed in all red with a hood covering his head and face spoke quietly, leaning against the bars of the cell. His head shifted, indicating that he was looking at the girl in the cell.

"Even more surprising to see you behind bars. Didn't think it would be so fast. How was being forced on your knees, though? It'll leave some questionable marks, that's for sure. Heheheheheh..."

The man's low chuckle moved his body slightly as he pulled an ornate looking dagger and began flipping it in the air, catching it by the handle as if he was playing a little game with himself.

Shy turned her attention, for the mere moment, away from the confusing, yet curios scene at the entrance to the brig, involving the strange 'Outlander', the guard who was just accepting of all this, and the man who had escorted him here, to the voice she had heard; a voice seemingly addressed straight to her. Taking her hands off the bars, she stepped over, and with a tilt of her head, she said aloud, her tone one of surprise. "Kapoore?! Wait you know... OH! Now, I see. Right," she nodded. SO, that was it. He wasn't Outlander, and neither was he Valken. He was from the Outrealms. Of course, now it was obvious to her. "You said, he's a 'loon'? Why?" she asked. She did not know this 'Marth' fellow, but perhaps the redheaded man did.

Shaking her head, her eyes blinked, "Wait, furthermore, what are you doing here?" He continued to mock her, and as he asked her how she liked being on her knees, she felt a tinge within her. One of intense raging anger.

Her legendary glares came now, staring intensely at him, her eyes flashing. "Repeat that, and we'll see how funny you think it is." She tried to peer around everyone, to spot the outside. (Or could she see it from here? Hm.) Was the sun dipping, yet? Was the day coming to a close? She wanted out of here quick! He said he didn't imagine seeing her behind bars so soon, and she stated this, "Which is why, I need to get free, Kapoore. Understand me?"

"Right, although since he is more well dressed, he might know some important information," Jackson took the key to the cell. "All right in you go!" He led Marth into the cell and then placed him against the wall before letting go. However, before he stepped back he whispered, "I'm going to wait to tell you what is going on until that guard isn't paying attention anymore." Shutting the door, he then leaned on the bars and spoke, "Ok then, what is your story "Prince" Marth?"

But That Didn't Solve All Of Their problems, even in her human form Skadi still looked out of place. And with the current events that wasn't good. "I guess I'm a little rusty,"

Ludwig smiled at Freya's comment, "That's too flattering of you, but my back says otherwise," he said, chuckling a little at his own joke before looking at the two brides kissing. A small sniffle could be heard from Freya as she looked at her sister. A warm smile spread across Ludwig's face, Freya looked more of a mother than a sister. He reckoned he would do the same when his sons gets married.

"I always knew when on of your siblings would get married I would be there. I was there at your parents wedding," he said while looking up at the newlyweds, clapping his hands in celebration. "I expected it to be you or Freyr, but it doesn't matter though. I was around your age when I got married," he continued, feeling good to see the ceremony of his best friends daughters wedding. Though it saddened him that the king wasn't here...

Freya chuckled, still enjoying the sight of the two women. Finally, she turned her attention to the older man. After all, the party was getting underway, and that meant Lenneth most likely wanted to indulge herself with her new wife: for once. That girl never indulged in anything. She earned it, in Freya's mind. So, yes, no matter all the strange oddities about Freya, that some people were probably trying to decipher, she did legitimately care for her younger sister's happiness. That was not debatable.

She retorted, "Well, if that's the case, then you hold yourself well. You'd hardly know that you were an old man with the cliche back pains, from looking at you, Ludwig." He dropped that he had been there when her parents had gotten married. Frankly, that had surprised her. "Really, now? I did not know that. Hmmm. Would you mind telling a nosy - I mean - curious daughter, about her parents's wedding?" She seemed generally interested, with her eyes twinkling, and an inquisitive smirk upon her lips; shifting, holding a position for a strong, confident woman, listening to an intriguing story from a familial friend.

She chuckled lightly, and shook her head, "Careful, Ludwig. If I marry, it will be for love, of course. Like Princess Lenneth." She nodded at her own statement. "Yes, that is what I practically dictate, in my kingdom. That all Valkyries must marry for love. None of this political-marriage nonsense that our kingdom was once known for." She held up a finger, "Ah! Speaking of which. Would you mind telling me about your marriage, as well? I had a curious thought."

Coin snickered, revealing herself in his home, after opening a window from the outside, letting in the cooler air. The blonde girl landed within the home beside the boy. "Hehe.. Hey, there kid," she teased, standing, eyes glinting. With a wink, she walked over to him, peeking down at his book. "Found ya. Surprised to see me here? Wellll, you never told me who you were! Which was rude, by the way! So... who are you, 'Mr. Thief'?"

Well this certainly was weird, Marth half expected the dungeon to be empty of prisoners but surprisingly there were two people here, a man and a woman, the woman seemed to be in a dress like she was at the party but was taken down here. From what he could see from the man before being placed in the cell, he wore all red and seemed like he knew Marth but how? Whatever the case Marth was thrown into the cell and the door was shut and locked, with Jackson 'Questioning' him.

"I ain't tell you jack, so you'll just have to try and beat out of me! Shit for brains!"

The guard outside the door laughed "If that's the case I'll leave you to it Jackson! Show that outlander Valken hospitality while I have to go to the restroom."

And the guard could be heard walking away, and all there was was silence from the other side of the door.

When that happened Marth sighed and his face went back to normal and he looked at Jackson.

"I think he's gone now, oh and sorry for insulting you, just had to play the part."

Coin was busying herself, by meandering about his room -currently. Investigating whatever she could observe, touch, or look at. With the intention to search out the rest of his home, seeing just how profitable he was in his endeavors. He spoke up, and she nearly dropped some knickknack, in shock. Placing it back, she looked over at him, incredulously. "Nu-uh! Did you just insinuate?.. That I? Me? Coin Sarlatan is a...? Could be a..?" She shook her head, waving a finger. "Nu-uh! No way! Coin is far too respectful to stoop to such.. unsavory acts! I'm more of an opportunist! Taking my chances, and benefiting the end results!" She bowed extravagantly, as if she was introducing herself. "Coin does not steal, she merely 'plucks' her earnings! I'm no Thief, I'm a Blade of Fortune!"

Then she scoffed, straightening herself, and pursing her lips together. "Also, you may hardly speak, you're very rude, breaking into a royal Castle on the day of a Princess's wedding! How crude!"

Still staying in the same place as he was in when the guard left, Jackson started, "It's no problem, makes it seem genuine. Now where to begin? Our religion is based off two powerful individuals, brothers, who clashed, until one was able to teach the other compassion, and the value of human life. He then married and their bloodline is the current ruling bloodline. Soon, if I can still remember my studies, we began to prioritize power and wealth and it caused some people to be left behind, namely the outlanders. The civil war was started when the outlanders wanted the same privileges that the Valkens currently possess; wealth and their way of life. The Valkens did not want to negotiate so they fought back and it's been going on ever since. Personally, I think this all could have been avoided with simple negotiation, but wishing for something does not mean it will come to pass. That's how this whole conflict is happening and why the queen lumps all the outlanders together.

The hooded man wiggled his finger in front of her and gave her a low tsk, tsk.

"Now, now, love. No need to be so hostile; though I do like 'em a little feisty."

He took the dagger he was throwing up in the air and put it back into its sheath, a small grin crawling onto his covered face.

"Kapoore? Never heard of him. Heheh."

He laughed quietly as he walked over to the front of the cage and pulled a pick from his pocket. It only took a minute and the door was open. He swung the cell door forward, staring at his pick.

"Hm. The locks they make here aren't very ideal, are they?"

He shrugged as he put the pick back into his pocket and held his hand out for Shy to take.

"Come on then, sweetheart."

Jackson had left Marth to go and talk to the queen to tell her that Marth was imprisoned. Although what he was not going to tell her was that he knew the true reason for why this all started. Exiting the stairwell he managed to find the queen in the main hall finishing up. Briskly walking up to her, he whispered, "The outlander has been imprisoned, he is currently down in the dungeons. He still thinks that he is from another country as well also."

Freya turned slightly from conversing with the older man: Ludwig, whom she was currently enjoying the current presence of. Their conversation was fun, and making her currently forget the questioning thoughts she had of his wedding, and wife. Even if that question she asked regarding it, hung in the air, crackling with some fierce intrigue. Focusing on the man who came over to her. She regarded him with some wariness. He had shown a slight bit of disloyalty, questioning her previous orders, but it seemed like he was following them now. Wisely. She nodded, releasing a soft sigh. Smiling to Jackson, she praised him, "Well, that's good to hear. Good work, Sir Jackson. I appreciate it. Huh? Is he keeping up that fantasy? Very well. He can continue to spout that nonsense in his cell. At least, until he comes to his senses, and wants to reveal us his truth he is hiding. Good."

The party at this point, was continuing, well into the evening, many many guests at this point were quite inebriated, and the entire thing was growing more raucous, loud, boisterous and wild. That was to be expected. Valken nobles often drank heavily, and acted out with unruly, and basically undisciplined behavior. The parties could often get rather risque and hot. Not something Freya personally involved herself in, but she did not stop her citizens from enjoying even some carnal pleasures. She watched as a shorter, purple haired girl rushed over to the wedded brides.

"LEN-LEN!!!" she called, a redness glowing on her face, wine glass in one hand, with red liquid sloshing around, as she rushed over. Leaping forward, she wrapped her arms around Hayate's neck, hanging off of her. "Gosh! You're so lucky!! Look how pretty your wife is!" she purred. Fynrir hung there, wine glass splashing its liquid out and around. "So so so lucky!" she squealed, nuzzling against Hayate right in front of Lenneth. The other woman staring with a bit of what could possibly be Lenneth being annoyed? A rarity. "Teehee! I'm so jelly!"

"F-Fynrir..." she murmured, but trailing off.

"very well then, In the meantime, I think I'll have that drink now," A smile appeared on his face before he turned to go pick up a glass of red wine. Holding up the glass in his right hand with his middle, pointer fingers, and thumb he swirled it around before smelling the liquid. His nose was greeted with a rich aroma of grapes and alcohol as he proceeded to drink. A grin appeared as he examined it further while thinking to himself, ~I missed this.~ His parents were off somewhere else probably enjoying themselves.

Coin shook her head, trying to justify anything in her mind, like he was. The rationalizing was stretched thin with the both of them, that much was for sure. "I still think jumping into the fire -the castle that is- is quite brazen. Extremely risky. Why do that, if there's plenty of drunk guests just willing to.. depart with their lovely gems and jewels?" she questioned, clearly averting any words that could be construed as stealing.

"Oh don't worry your majesty, I can handle myself," Jackson began, "I may not look it, but I was a big boozer when I was younger and my folks gave me hell for it. It wasn't until I was older that I began to truly appreciate red wine and the like." Jackson looked around the room and noticed someone getting awfully close next to Lenneth and Hayate, "Um, who is she?"

Freya nodded. Well, enjoying oneself consuming fine wines, alcohol, mead, and the like is a good ol' fashion Valken tradition. There wasn't even any laws in place for drinking at younger ages. The youngest most Valkenians began to drink was probably around 12 to 14. They loved their mead. "Heh, well, that Sir Jackson, I'm surprised you do not know, is Lenneth's twin: Princess Fynrir! She's most likely inebriated, and possibly even jealous, if I were to hazard a guess. Hayate is a charming young woman, after all."

"I guess I'm a little rusty,"

Ludwig stood quietly as the girl when in about this and that, asking about her parents weddings, her prion on marriage, and she even asked about his wedding."My, what a load of questions that is, but this old man would gladly answer them. To start off your parents wedding was the grandest of them all, it was dazzling, spectacular. It looked like a piece of the gods realm had fallen into Valken for the day. It was a true sight to behold... good times," He told her, taking a second to remember those good memories. "My wedding on the opposite hand wasn't lavish or expensive. I married a woman from the Outlands, and because of this my noble family dishonored me, leaving me with no money. Though, the two of us still got married, in a small forest next to a stream. It was still beautiful and I will never forget that day," Ludwig finnished before snatching a cup of mead from a roaming waitress.

He took a small sip as a younger man approached to talk with Freya. The two talked about, alcohol, one of the brides twin sister. Tuning put their conversation the redish eyes of the retired general scanned the party, looking floor any familiar faces. It wasn't until he meet the gaze of a set of familiar blue eyes and some fiery red hair from across the courtyard. 'Bishop?!' Ludwig though while almost spitting out his gulp of mead. He would have never expected to see his son here, especially with a young maiden following him. A smirk appeared on Ludwig's face as he winked and gave a thumbs up to his son, causing the boy's face to turn red before he quickly walked away.

It looked like a piece of the gods realm had fallen into Valken for the day. It was a true sight to behold... good times,"

Freya turned, listening, as the older man began to answer her questions, going on a small little diatribe. His tone was pleasant, and it kept her in a good mood, even as a servant brought her a drink. She sipped lightly at the wine in the class, holding it daintily, while enjoying the company of her father's old friend. "That sounds magnificent," she praised, "Wish I could've been there." With a nod, she affirmed, "It does sound like good times. I'm a tad jealous, if I were to admit. I tried to make Lenneth's wedding grand, but I think, with the attack of the Outlanders, and the crazy way most of our people are acting currently..." she observed many of the Nobles acting out, already drunk, as the day drew on. "I think.. I might have failed in that regard, somewhat. Still, Lenneth seems happy," she noted, watching the pink-haired woman with Hayate, trying to pry Fynrir off her wife.

With a soft chuckle, she swirled the red liquid in her glass. "I guess that's a small victory."

"My wedding on the opposite hand wasn't lavish or expensive. I married a woman from the Outlands, and because of this my noble family dishonored me, leaving me with no money. Though, the two of us still got married, in a small forest next to a stream. It was still beautiful and I will never forget that day,"

Freya nodded, sometimes smaller things could be enjoyable, too. Like a modest wedding, to a modest woman... Then his words really took hold, and she froze. Prying her eyes off the wild people and event before her, the woman glared at the older man. She felt a surge of strength spark through her arm, and she nearly shattered the wine glass she was holding, but refrained at the last second. "You.. married an Outlander woman?" her tone was accusatory, and her face was fierce. "Is that what you're telling me?"

Hayate

Hayate smiled radiantly ecstatic that the deed was done, though she would happily do it again and again and probably again. Then they would break for cake. She was worried about Shy of course but she knew the general would just scoff at her and say she didn't need any help. After Hayate saved her for what was sure to have been the twentieth time. Naturally though she was quite aware the opposite was true, she never admitted that she needed help either. But looking at her wife she remembered why she loved her so much, she never felt like she had to impress Lenneth, they were always on equal footing and they leaned on each other without fear of seeming weak or unworthy.  She was interrupted from her reverie by the interruption of Fynrir wandering up obviously a little tipsy. She was hugged and suddenly reminded of the idea that Lenneth was in fact a twin and that brought to mind interesting things. But she instanly caught the flash of Lenneth's jealousy and chastely returned the hug, managing to detach her sister-in-law in the act. "I'm the one jealous of Lenneth here," She said politely, "For having such a 'friendly' sister!"

Skadi

Skadi followed him quietly trotting back in forth like the excitable dog she was and generally looking like she had never seen nything before. "Hmmm," She muttered, "What now... I guess I should break Shy out of jail... but I'm a little tempted to leave her..." She finished as she snatched a small stick of meat and ate it in one bite, throwing the stick at the most prickish looking Valken she could see. "What do you think, oh dear," She said looking back at Bishop, "I- don't even know your name guard pup. Oops." Then she noticed the strangely familier looking man giving them a thumbs up, "Also whos that?" She asked calmly.

Fynrir Valkyrie

hYi6kym.jpg

"Te-Te!!" Fynrir purred out a nickname, still clutching to Lenneth's wife, and nuzzling her deeply. "Yew wants sum wine? *hic!* Mead? Beer? Teehee! *hic!* C'mon it's a party! Drink up!" Even after she was pushed off, her arms once again wrapped around Hayate's neck, this time facing her face to face. With red, flushed cheeks of drunkedness, she stared deeply into Hayate's eyes. "C'mon... loosen... up... Have a few... *hic!* Teehee! Just relax..." her arms squeezed the woman lightly. "It's all in good fun..." Her words got rather husky, and her eyes dropped, when she leaned upwards; those lips of hers seeking, daringly. "Just.. a little.. more *hic!*... l-let it happen, Te-Te..."

Lenneth watched, growing increasingly more agitated. Not at anything Hayate was doing, or anything like that. In truth, it was hard to even tell the woman was angry. She had such a soft, meek demeanor, that even her anger looked like she was just a normal person. She didn't broadcast it, or get red-faced, or blow up. Nothing like most people would do. Watching, Fynrir, though, was so grating. Her sister could be so pushy... So... so... Wild and untamed! Most looking on, were cheering, also drunk. Probably, couldn't even tell the difference between Lenneth and Fynrir. Though Fynrir was shorter, not dressed at all the same. Considering, Lenneth's flamboyant, elegant dress, and Fynrir's... lack of... well her outfit. Their hair color was different, too, with Lenneth's being much lighter, and Fynrir's a vivid purple. Even, their skin color was different. It was obvious they were twins, if you knew it, but they definitely had their unique differences.

Still, while Fynrir drew ever closer to Hayate, in a 'friendly' way, as her wife put it. The crowd of Nobels around cheered. Did they have no modesty, no tact? Sure, they were drunk.. but Fynrir was acting as if she was married. Maybe, in her mind, she was. Lenneth and Fynrir's twin-status might've meant more to the other girl. Her mind might've been a tad off, from her state of aroused inebriation. Though, Lenneth remembered vividly. Fynrir had always been like this. Flirtatious, silly, daring, unruly, wild, and uncivilized (surprisingly for a Royal Valkyrie).

"Fynrir!" Lenneth called, stamping her foot down at her sister's actions.

Jackson nodded at Queen Freya's observation and then turned back to see Fynrir getting VERY close. However, he was not expecting what Lenneth did afterwords to happen next. She stamped her foot down and yelled at Fynrir almost causing Jackson to drop his wine glass in astonishment. Quickly composing himself, he smirked and turned to the queen, "When I encountered her earlier today, Lenneth seemed very timid and quiet. Now that this has happened it makes me smile seeing that Lenneth has a bit of fire to her. Although, perhaps something should be done about Fynrir before it gets out of hand. What say you?"

Freya was still extremely furious finding out her father's friend had betrayed the family and married an Outlander. She would wait for his explanation on the matter. (But not wait long)! Meanwhile, Jackson's words drew her attention to the scene before them. A look came over Freya; perhaps she had been a tad wrong about Lenneth. It seemed her sister did have the capacity to show some assertiveness. She held out her arm to the man, holding him back. "Heh, let's see where this goes?" she responded mischievously, then took a swig of some wine.
