The origin of Chi
In the beginning the universe was barren and empty. The gods came after though no one knows how long after. They used their divine power to kick start stars, seed planets with the needed elements to create life and atmospheres, and eventually they would lay the lifeforms of the universe in the habitats they had made. The universe was in a glorious age of birth and development…yet it would not last. Eventually strife would grow between the gods and as it grew more and more intense until eventually the chief deities made the decision to abolish the very concept of divinity and in an instant all gods ceased to exist and their essences were scattered throughout the cosmos. This essence would permeate all things and humans would come to call it Chi.
The Age of Masters
Countless ages would pass after the gods ceased to be, and eventually mankind among others in the universe would learn to harness their essence. These would be the first chi masters and they would carve the world to their liking as they honed their skills. Yet eventually the pride people took in their skills would reach its peak and the question of “who was greatest” would drive the once benevolent masters into conflict. With this conflict can a shift in ideologies and the rapid polarization of the practitioners of chi until two factions emerged, The Kaio who beleived in using their power to better the world and remaining hidden and free of political power, and the Oni who believed they were the successors to the gods and it was their right to rule. The battled would grow more and more severe until the final battle at a place called the Last mountain would see the remaining masters of Chi fighting until only Kame Kaio remained.
The Era of Advancement
Forty two Decades have passed since the clash at Last mountain. With only one Chi master left the concept and practice of chi fell into the annals of myth and legend. Those few who met the Kame kaio were trained to keep their abilities hidden and only train those who would be worthy of the power and able to take the vow of secrecy. During the centuries that would pass mankind would shift its focus from the supernatural forces of the universe to the physical forces and science would grow and develop. The growth would eventually reach a point where the practice of chi manipulation would no longer even be needed. Man was flying across the globe, great structures would be erected and nations would build massive armies with power enough to compare to the chi masters of old. It is in the apex of this era that our story begins.
