Cole ( apolla apolla )

Coming to the party, Ella Reed definitely expected a lot. In the sense of a lot of snobby assholes exhibiting their wealth, a lot of boring music and a lot of free alcohol, thank god. She also knew there were going to be five more people from her school, five more seniors she possibly knew but the brunette was definitely not in a mood to explore or look for them. With her luck, she would come across one of the popular bitches or her former fellows cheerleaders and catfighting was not what this girl was in a mood for at this point. The New Year’s Eve was supposed to be some sort of new beginning, right? And while Ella was not planning on making any radical changes in her life at this point nor she was desiring to make amends with all the people she ever got into conflict with. To be frank, if she actually started doing it, she would have the work cut out for her for a few months.

However, what she id not expect was meeting this charming guy, not afraid to experiment a little with her. Ella was never the girl who was afraid to follow what she wanted to do and therefore, there was no surprise she was not standing outside and getting high while the stuffy party was raging inside. Well, raging might have been quite exaggerated in this case. But Ella and her new companion threw their own little party outside, inhaling the drug and making their heads a little woozy. Those two words, anything goes, surely became a theme and Ella enjoyed the little game. She was toying with him, trying to see how far the boy was willing to go. Maybe he was even one of her classmates. Maybe he was a son of some of those oh so important people. Ella didn’t care. Not tonight.

As he called her out on wanting him to take the lead, Ella giggled. “True…I don’t have any ideas. Not just yet. I like to think I’m a free spirit. Planning shit is for suckers. I like to play things by the ear. Wanna go dancing? Get even more high? Quickie in the bathroom? Steal the booze and get out of here? I’m game for all of these…” she winked, taking another drag from the blunt, handing it back to the handsome stranger.

For hours to come, the two were together, dancing, drinking, slipping out for an occasional cigarette and making out until their lips were sore. Ella started to see the end of the party in very bright colors because she might have found someone she wanted to take home with her. Or to his place. It didn’t really matter. But he was definitely keeping up with her speed, kept her entertained, his kisses were making her feel things and her body reacted in all sorts of ways and he was not obnoxious which served him well. It had been quite some time since Ella actually met a boy she didn’t want to murder after the first ten minutes.

The midnight crawled upon them fast and before they knew it, the countdown sounded. The crowd excitedly started at ten and yelled the numbers so loudly it made Ella burst out laughing. Why, she had no idea. But she did grab another flute of bubbly from the waiter going past her and yelled the last three numbers with everyone else because fuck it. With the first fireworks cutting the night sky, she pulled the boy by her side closer into a passionate New Year’s kiss. “Happy New Year, stranger.” she hummed, deepening the kiss, ready to leave the party at this point. They exceeded all entertainment and there was nothing left for Ella to do until…

Another waiter approached them, handing over golden envelopes. The very same ones as the invitation had arrived in. Considering they both were handed one, Ella was now positive that one of her classmates was standing in front of her, she just didn’t know who he was. But at this point, the envelope was more important to her as she knew there was a condition she needed to meet. Some kind of price to pay for being able to attend this. Ripping the envelope open, Ella impatiently pulled the small note out and scanned the content very quickly. She actually needed to look again, making sure she read it correctly. “Are you…fucking…” she breathed and emptied her champagne in one go. Her good mood was gone and at this point, all she wanted to do was leave.

“I’m sorry but…I think I gotta go.” she looked up at the boy in front of her and without saying anything else, she turned on her heel and darted off, weaving through the crowd straight to the elevator. The message was still ringing in her head and she needed a place where she could make sure she forgot. And it was certainly not here. The elevator fortunately didn’t take long and came up quickly, hiding Ella from the sight of everyone as the door closed after her, taking her away from the party she should have never attended as the note basically blackmailed her. Now she had a choice to make. Either she would join the school glee club or she would be held back a year which meant no graduation. And Ella Reed did not want to do either of those.

Jax Romero

The Geek

Nicole ( Desert_Blossom Desert_Blossom )

It was safe to say that young Jackson Romero had no idea what he was doing. Why he actually approached a girl who was definitely way out of her league he couldn’t say but here he was, flirting with a beauty clad in emerald dress that hugged her figure in a way he wanted to die and was becoming almost asthmatic when looking at that waist and hips for longer than ten seconds. Way too late he realized that he should have stayed away and maybe just admire her from afar. Being a creep now sounded so much better than actually making himself embarrassed in front of her. All that was left was hoping that she was not one of his classmates because if she was, Jax would never survive the shame.

It all looked so great at the beginning. They both got into their fictional characters and he loved that the brunette decided to embrace the Bond girl. But then he had to go and try being the 007 completely, inviting her for a drink. After he just handed her one. Well, you rock, Jackson, very smooth. He could just kick himself. No wonder his father and brothers were making fun of him. He was useless. Life was not movie marathons and comicons and Jax was starting to understand that at this point.

Throughout the years, Jax had suffered all those insults and name-calling from his family and he just listened, never reacted, sometimes smiled, hoping that maybe it was a joke. He never took it seriously and continued going around being his usual goofy self. Then again, he mostly hung out in his own crowd and there, those boys and girls understood him. This party though, it was everything but not his world. Maybe thinking he could be someone else for the night was a mistake. Jax was a good actor but only when it came to impersonating his favorite characters. Apparently, he was unable to become a charming guy. He might have been naïve but he was not blind and noticed a few glitches in her mimics.

When he blurted the first drink that came to his mind, she noticed one too. But apparently, she was a good actress as well because she kept her face straight and ordered the same. Since Jax was in his role, he decided to keep it for as long as he could because the expression of a kicked puppy that was trying to push itself to his face would not going to make it for him. Though when the blue drink landed in front of him, the geek was trying to decide whether he was very brave or just incredibly stupid. Hearing her toast, Jax just chuckled and offered her a wink as the glasses clinked together and he took his first sip.

Jax almost died at that point. The drink was disgusting and burned his throat horribly. Yet, he forced it down, trying to stop himself from coughing. How he was going to drink the whole glass, he had no idea. “Maybe I just took a break for the evening. Did that ever occur to you, Candy?” he smirked, trying to take his mind off of the horrible drink. But as the night went on, Jax continued drinking it and took a few big gulps as well, in order to get rid of it faster. Which only resulted in him starting to feel the buzz and his sight became hazy. On the other hand, all that booze made him a bit looser and he forgot all his worries.

For the rest of the night, the geeky Bond spent with his Candy Kane, enjoying himself in his tipsy haze. Maybe it was a mistake to order the blue muck but at least it made him a bit bolder. When the countdown came, Jax’s bowtie was already loosened and he counted down with the crowd, holding his Bond girl close to him. The young man got himself positively drunk but maybe, just maybe, it was the reason why he became so bold as he did. With the stroke of midnight, he pulled the girl even closer, moving his hand to her neck and pressed his lips onto hers. “Happy New Year, Candy Kane.” he grinned, grabbing a glass of champagne for them both. It was probably not the smartest idea to drink more but whoever said that Jax was full of those? At least not tonight.

When another waiter found them, bringing over golden envelopes, Jax was barely able to recognize his name on top of the note inside. It took him literal years to read the note but even after the third time, he still had no idea what it said. “Fuck me…” he mumbled, looking at his beautiful company. “Give me a second, will you?” he slurred his words and beelined towards the balcony. Maybe the cold night air was going to help him clear his head and finally understand what those words meant. So far, he only understood the words scholarship and glee. But what the hell that was supposed to mean, his drunken mind was not able to tell him just yet.

Nicole St. Claire

This party was about being someone other than herself for a night, and Nicole was accomplishing that in more ways than she even knew. Not only had she adopted the persona of Candy Kane, but she was spending the night flirting with a guy that she likely wouldn't even notice if she passed him in the halls of school. The only guys Nicole ever dated were jocks. Ever since that first unfortunate night with the football captain her freshman year, Nicole had made quite a reputation for herself, which she felt the need to uphold. If she wasn't the tart that slept around with all the athletes at school, then who was she? The only reason people knew who she was was because of her infamous reputation, and even a bad reputation was better than none at all. The idea of being a nobody terrified Nicole, so she did nothing to correct the misleading rumors about her.

Tonight though, Nicole wasn't thinking about her reputation in high school, or worrying if the next jock she dates was going to try to get to third base on the first date without even buying her dinner first. No, tonight Nicole was just Candy Kane, having fun with a mysterious guy who was the opposite of her usual type. It didn't even really matter who he was because Nicole doubted she'd ever meet him again, and she almost preferred it that way. She could have one magical night with a guy who wasn't only interested in taking her home for a hookup.

After they toasted, the blue mixture of alcohol in their glasses gradually disappeared down their throats as Nicole and Bond continued to enjoy the party. While he was charming in a cute way at the beginning of the night, Nicole could tell that the young man she was with was loosening up the more he drank. It wasn't long before Nicole was also three sheets to the wind, and time seemed to fly by in a blur. She recalled trying to get Bond to dance with her, but how successful that attempt was seemed to escape her. At one point she'd flirtatiously loosened his bowtie and had taken off her shoes. Where those shoes were now, she had no idea as she walked around barefoot under her dress.

Suddenly everyone was counting down to the New Year, and Nicole's stomach fluttered nervously as they drew closer to zero, hoping that her New Years kiss would come from the man who now held her close. Confetti exploded around them as the New Year was rung in, and Nicole raised her eyes to Bond's as he pulled her even closer to him. His hand found her neck as his lips pressed against hers, and Nicole shut her eyes as she returned the kiss. It didn't last long, and was over before she wanted it to be, but when she opened her eyes slowly once more he was grinning at her and wishing her a Happy New Year. Or rather, wishing Candy Kane a Happy New Year.

Her lips tingling a little from the kiss, or maybe the copious amounts of alcohol she'd consumed that evening, Nicole was tempted to tell this perfect stranger her name. Maybe she didn't want this to be just a one night event... She smiled, taking the champagne he offered her. "Happy New Year 007." She replied, raising the glass to her lips. Before she could contemplate revealing her identity any further, a server came by, handing each of them a golden envelope much like their invitation.

Confused, Nicole accepted the envelope, but didn't immediately make any move to open it, deciding to finish her champagne first. Bond, however, opened his immediately. Curious, Nicole tried to catch the name that was written on his letter, but she couldn't quite read it in her intoxicated state. She did hear Bond utter "Fuck me", and her smile faltered a little as his gaze turned to her. Give me a second, will you? Before Nicole could even open her mouth to ask what was wrong, she suddenly found herself alone in a sea of people as Bond made his way to the balcony.

Nicole just stood there for a moment, trying to replay the events from the last few minutes in her head to find out what she'd done wrong. One minute he was kissing her, and the next she was standing there looking entirely out of place amongst the celebrating couples. A wave of disappointment washed over her, amplified by the alcohol, and Nicole blinked away a few tears of rejection. Stumbling over to the staircase, Nicole sat down on one of the bottom stairs, and ripped open her own envelope to distract herself from her self pity. The brunette's head spun though as she tried to make sense of the envelope. It said something about Glee Club and consequences if she didn't join. Though she couldn't make complete sense of the letter, if Bond's had been anything like hers, she could see why he ran away now. Fuck this!

CJ Barron

When the blonde suggested they explore the party, CJ was happy to go on a little adventure with her. Sure, he would have been just as happy to find a closet like he suggested, but when the young woman kicked off her heels and started running down a hallway, the bad boy's grin widened devilishly. Champagne bottle still in hand, CJ was quick to follow after the woman in lavender, running after her. Even without her heels on, the young man could easily outrun her if he'd wanted, but the game of chase was much more fun, and he intentionally let her take the lead. She'd mentioned that they could just see what stuck out to them, and he was curious what might catch this girl's eye. It wasn't hard to tell that she was rather innocent, at least compared to himself, but CJ found that intriguing. And tempting. Part of him wanted to corrupt this pretty little flower, while the other part of him saw her as a bit of a unicorn. It wasn't often that he met someone who wasn't from his own world. And she most certainly wasn't.

CJ was happy to play the game of cat and mouse with his blonde companion, catching up to her when he wanted, and letting her run away again when it suited him. They wandered through the back halls of the Plaza Hotel for a while, losing track of time. Unfortunately CJ wasn't successful in convincing the damsel to slip into one of the closets with him for some fun, but the blush on her face when he invited her every now and then was almost as satisfying. Almost. The troublemaker was successful though in convincing the blonde to share the bottle of stolen champagne, and he popped the cork once they'd found a quiet corner to sit in. Foam from the shaken bottle sprayed everywhere, and CJ offered the girl an apologetic look. "Sorry, I swear that never happens..." He winked jokingly.

Taking a long swig, CJ passed the bottle over to the young woman. "Now, you can't stop drinking until I get to ten..." He challenged her with a smirk. He began counting at a normal pace, before eventually slowing as he got to "...seven... eight....... nine........." CJ watched as more of the champagne disappeared from the bottle, pleased to see that the girl was catching up. He couldn't help but notice earlier that she wasn't quite as tipsy as him, and he wanted to give her a chance to get on his level of fun. Satisfied that she'd had a fair share, CJ finally called out, "Ten!" He laughed as he took the bottle back from Cassandra and finished the rest off himself.

"Come on, let's keep this party going," He said, hiccuping a little as he stumbled getting up. CJ reached out his hand to the beauty, pulling her up from her seat on the ground. "We don't want to miss the countdown." He added, taking off once more down the hallway, this time with Cass in tow. His running was sloppy and he tripped every now and then, but his laughter filled the hallways, not caring about his reckless behavior. The two exited the hallway, landing them back out on the upper floor overlooking the ballroom as the guests finished the count down to New Years. "Three... Two.. One! Happy New Years!" CJ chanted along with everyone else.

As the confetti shot out over the ballroom below, CJ pulled Cassandra in for a kiss, his lips crashing against hers as he haphazardly caught her against him. He mumbled an apology against her mouth, but didn't pull away. The innocent girl's lips were so soft and so sweet from the champagne. Yes, CJ was drunk, but not too drunk that he didn't notice a spark when he kissed his Cinderella. Realizing he might be a little too overbearing though for the girl, CJ finally broke the kiss and let her go a little. "Look at that, you didn't turn into a pumpkin." He joked before being tapped on the shoulder by a server.

CJ spun around, expecting to be in trouble for something, and ready for a fight, but instead was simply given a golden envelope while the blonde also received one. "What the fuck..." CJ murmured as he tore his open. "What the fuck?!" He repeated again, even louder once he actually read what the envelope said.

Maybe it was the tiny bit of champagne already coursing through her veins, or maybe it was her brother's words echoing in her head, or maybe it was the newfound companion she'd found, but Cassie was actually looking forward to doing something out of the ordinary for herself. If only Cole could see her now, running down the hallway without her shoes, giggling like a child running free of their parents in a department store. From behind her, her new friend's grin widened and he took off after her, still clutching the champagne bottle he'd snagged. She had no idea how many turns she made or even where they ended up in the upstairs of the mansion, but with CJ behind her she didn't slow down. The adrenaline was pumping through her veins at their little game of chase, and she realized sometime during it that she was having a blast.

At some point she did finally slow down and they started to walk the hallways, looking at the pictures and the decor. He did try to get her to go into more than one closet he found, but she just shook her head every time, still unable to wipe the grin from her face. Finding a quiet corner, Cassie sank down against the wall and he plopped down beside her, eliciting another set of giggles from the blonde. He started to unwrap the paper from the top of the bottle, and then successfully popped the cork, spewing champagne foam all over them. Cassie's jaw dropped and she lifted her hands as though that would stop the spray, but it definitely didn't. Looking over at CJ, his apologetic look and wink made her laugh even harder. "Sure, whatever you say." Rolling her eyes, she lowered her hands and accepted the bottle when he handed it over. Lifting it to her lips, she decided to take on his challenge, even if he used it to his advantage during his count.

When he finally called out ten, she lowered the bottle, reaching up to wipe her mouth from where some of the champagne had escaped. Her head was definitely buzzing now, and she leaned against him as she lifted the mostly empty bottle. "You don't play fair!" She dropped the bottle, huffing slightly as they sat there for a few more minutes. Then he was saying they needed to keep the party going, and she nearly fell over as he stumbled to his feet, reaching his hand out to her. She took his hand and he pulled her up, making her head spin, especially as he took off running. She laughed the entire way back to the balcony they'd started on, just as the countdown started. "Oh!" She turned to face him, chanting along with everyone else as the new year approached. A confetti gun went off below, but before Cassie could even turn her head, CJ pulled her in for a kiss, nearly making her heart stop right then and there.

Her hands found his chest, gripping his shirt slightly as he apologized against her mouth. She shook her head, silently telling him not to be sorry. She kissed him back, tasting the champagne on his lips... or was that her own she tasted? She didn't know anymore, her head was spinning in the best way possible. When he pulled away, a soft whimper left her lips, and she was tempted to pull him back in for more. But his statement had her laughing instead, just as a server tapped him on the shoulder. Cassie sobered up almost instantly, afraid they were in trouble. But he just handed them each an envelope. Glancing over at CJ, Cassie looked down at hers, fumbling with it to tear it open. Dropping the fancy envelope on the floor, she bent down to pick it up, CJ's second exclamation startling her as she straightened. "What does it say?" She asked, fearful as she looked down at the words on the paper.

Glee club?? Oh, no, she was dead. The blood drained from her face as she read the letter a few times, before lowering it and looking over at CJ. She assumed his said the same thing, but just to be sure, she leaned over and skimmed his. The letters swam a little bit but she did see that his was the same as hers. Looking back at her own, she started shaking her head. "I can't. I can't!" Crumbling the letter some in her hands without really meaning to, she blew out a sharp breath. "I... I have to go." She needed to find Cole. Still clutching her shoes in her hands, she took off like a shot, descending the stairs to merge with the crowd as she tried to find her brother.

Cole had had a pretty good feeling about the masquerade party, but it was nothing compared to what he felt with his new female friend here. She was fun and exciting, ready to have a good time and Cole was as well. Though he didn't know who she truly was, he could tell that even behind the mask and outside of this party, she was someone he'd want to hang out with. He had no issue with the party drugs and the pot, and hell, if they helped the two of them have an even better time then he was definitely all for it. He wanted to reach over and tear her mask off so that he could see her face, but that wouldn't be a fair thing to do. There was also the option of taking off his own mask, but then where would the fun in that be? And besides, if things kept going the way they were going, then maybe he'd get to see behind her mask after all at the end of the night.

His grin widened when she said she didn't have any ideas, but called herself a free spirit. The rest of her statement actually had him laughing, then looking thoughtful but playful as he peered down at her. "I think I'd be down for any and all of the above." He took the blunt from her, taking another deep drag before he wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer. The weed was definitely making him looser, and they were together for the next few hours, dancing and having fun out on the balcony. And even on the dance floor. He was sure his lips were swollen but in the best way possible, and he never wanted to stop kissing the girl before him. Midnight approached quickly, and Cole realized somewhere in his mind that he hadn't seen Cassie all night. He wondered briefly if she'd found someone to entertain, or if she'd fled the party.

The countdown started, distracting him as the crowd started shouting the numbers. He pulled Ella closer to him again, shouting along with the others while the beautiful brunette laughed. She pulled him in for a new years kiss and he happily returned it. "Happy new years, beautiful." He murmured against her lips, wrapping both of his arms around her as his tongue darted out to trace her bottom lip. He was ready to invite her back to his place when a waiter approached them, handing over two envelopes, one for each of them. Confused, Cole glanced over at Ella before he tore open his own, reading his at the same time she read hers. All of the sudden the good buzz he felt was gone as he read the message twice, lowering the letter and looking over at Ella as everyone celebrated around them.

"No, wait-" He started to reach for her but she was gone before he could, disappearing into the crowd. He did try to go after her, but she was gone, and he groaned as he realized he'd lost her. "Fuck!" A few people turned to stare at him but he just rolled his eyes and started walking off. Someone bumped into him and he was ready to throw hands when he turned around and realized it was his sister. "Jesus, Cassie, you almost got punched." He muttered, his eyes widening with surprise when he saw the envelope in her hands, too. Fuck, that's right. They all had a condition to meet. "Glee club?" He asked, and she just nodded. "Fuck this. Come on, we should go." Linking his arm in hers, he turned and they started for the door to leave. He was pissed.

It sounded incredibly well to go to the New Year’s Eve party to the Plaza Hotel and enjoy oneself for one night, to feel like royalty or something. Ella knew there was a condition to that and despite fearing for what it might be, she still put her fairy tale dress on and went to have fun. Instead of launching the New Year with a bang, quite literally in her case, with some friends of hers, she was playing high society with the New York snobs and several of her classmates but who they were, she had no idea. There was a suspicion eating at her that the boy who spend the whole night with her was one of them but the damned masks concealed everything. And when she was ready to hint him about leaving together, the damned envelopes came and Ella never really got a chance to do anything before the huge wave of rage washed over her.

It was the first day back at school and Ella was standing at her locker, glaring at the despised golden envelope and her lips were so thin they were only visible because of the dark purple lipstick covering them. “Somebody’s gonna pay for this…” she growled before packing the envelope in the back pocket of her jean shorts and grabbed her bag. This had to be some kind of revenge of nerds on her or else, she had no idea. What else was she supposed to do? Like, damn! She left the cheer squad, distanced herself from the popular clique and even led an open war against some of them and yet, everyone still saw her as the bad guy. Not that she cared very much but why the hell was this happening? What was she supposed to do in a glee club?

Taking a deep breath in, Ella held it there for a moment before exhaling sharply. She wanted a cigarette. Or something stronger even to keep her mood contained. This was definitely some bullshit and she was going to figure out who did this to her because whoever thought this was a good idea, they totally fucked her over.

One might wonder why she was actually going there if she hated the idea so much. Oh, well, the answer to that was simple. She was basically forced. You know how there was a condition to that fucking party? Well, Ella’s was that either she joined the glee club and helped to revive it and bring it to its former glory, or she would be held back a year and not graduate with her class since her grades got much worse since her sudden rebellion. Naturally, Ella wanted to get out of this place as fast as possible so her steps were now leading towards the music room. But somebody was definitely going to pay for this.

The room was still empty when she arrived. “Great…” she mumbled and walked to the back plopping down on one of the chairs as she kicked her booted legs up on the other. Pulling the hat she was wearing a bit more to her face, there was a tiny little hope in her that people wouldn’t recognize her. Yeah, Ella, good luck with that.

The party offered Jackson Romero a unique option. To become someone else. Someone that was not the trembling nerd and a weakling in the Romero tradition of strong soldier men. He could have chosen to be anyone. Fucking Bruce Wayne even. And yet, he remained his old goofy self. Even though he got to pretend to be the agent with a license to kill and got his very own Bond girl in form of the emerald-clad Candy Kane, it was very much clear to everyone, to Jax and even to Candy that he was not that confident strong man but rather a boy who was wearing shoes way too big for him.

However, the blue motorcycle certainly took the edge of things and Jax found himself getting a bit loose, having fun, drinking and maybe even becoming confident. Or at least a bit more confident, as much as his geeky brain allowed him. He even pulled his Bond girl in a kiss, even though, admittedly, it was not a very long one. Poor Jax panicked and ended the kiss before it could even begin properly. Hey, cut him some slack, he never really had a girlfriend. How was he supposed to know what to do with a girl who looked like his New Year’s companion?

Yet the real shock only came after the kiss in form of the golden envelope Jax was now cradling in his lap. Sitting in an empty classroom, he was conflicted about his next steps. Naturally, there was a condition to attending the party and Jackson understood that before he went. But this just seemed confusing. He was sure there were people who would immediately jumped after the opportunity and yet, he kept staring at those words in the envelope. Scholarship. Glee club. His condition was that if he joined the singing and dancing club, he would be offered a scholarship for a school of his selection. But wasn’t this just too good to be true? And what would happen if he didn’t go? Wasn’t this selling your soul to the devil really?

In the end, Jax looked up and knew he had a decision to make. All those questions very only excuses really. The real fear was the one of his father finding out that he was in the club where they sang pop songs and danced as one. And then, it was the real reason why Jax actually got up and walked to the music room, very much determined. It was time his father stopped determining his fate and after all, it was a scholarship, a means to become independent in the end. That was what brought Jax to the room.

“Hey there!” he called at the dark girl sitting in the back who only eyed him and popped a pink bubble. “Or not.” Jax mumbled to himself and took his own seat in a safe distance from the embodiment of murderess. “When is this supposed to start?” he risked one more question, looking around whether someone else was coming. And then it hit him. Everyone here had to be the person from the party. Candy Kane was coming too! And even the idea of finding out who she was immediately colored his ears red.

Nicole St. Claire

By the time the clock was chiming midnight, Nicole had completely forgotten that there were strings attached to that golden invite to the gala. She’d gotten so caught up in pretending to be a Bond girl, her new mysterious companion, and drinking that the second golden letter hit her with a wake up call she was not ready for. Glee club was apparently in her future, much to her chagrin. Though Bond had asked her to just give him a minute, Nicole never saw him again that night. Irritated by the ultimatum and being deserted by her midnight kiss, she found consolation in the arms of another guy. Or rather, less consolation and more like a free ride home from a stranger she never planned to see again. She would, however, be seeing Bond again in Glee Club, at least she would if his letter was like hers.

Thanks to the copious amounts of alcohol consumed, the gala was pretty much a blur to Nicole the next morning. The few days left of winter break before school resumed were spent deciding whether or not to join the dorky club, or face the consequences. Ultimately, Nicole convinced herself that she could survive one semester of singing and dancing in order to escape high school without seriously damaging her reputation any further. Though being in glee club surely wasn’t going to help her popularity or standing with the cheer squad. Ugh.

The first day back at school came far too soon, and while Nicole put on a good show for her friends and fellow cheerleaders, she felt sick to her stomach all day. The longer she could go without anyone finding out about her new club, the better. Though it was only a matter of time before glee would conflict with cheerleading... And then there would be hell to pay, Nicole was sure of it.

Glancing at her reflection in the girls bathroom mirror, Nicole let out an unsteady breath as she added a fresh layer of red lipstick. She really couldn’t care about dressing up for whatever unfortunate group of students she’d be stuck with, but primping in the mirror was an excuse to delay the inevitable a little longer. Though not long enough. Eventually Nicole found herself approaching the door to the music room. After glancing to make sure no one of importance would see her, she quickly entered before she could change her mind.

“As if this couldn’t get any worse…” These were the first words to escape Nicole’s freshly painted pout as her gaze landed on Ella in the back of the classroom. The cheerleader just stood at the front of the room for a moment, processing the fucking odds that not only would she forcefully be in a club she didn’t like, but that she’d also have to spend a semester with Ella Reed. “So much for being an “individual” and too good for clubs… or is it too bad for clubs? You were going for that whole rebellious thing right?” Nicole mocked, taking a seat atop one of the desks in the front of the classroom rather than get any closer to her old friend.

It wasn’t until she sat down that Nicole even realized there was someone else in the room. She glanced at the boy, deciding he must be some kind of nerd or geek based on his shirt. “You here cuz you got a ticket, Wolverine? Or cuz you want to be here?” Nicole asked, leaning back on the desk and crossing one leg over the other. “Though I have to warn you, if you’re here for something cute like making friends, watch out for that one. The word friend doesn’t mean much to her.” She added as if Ella wasn’t there.

The thought that this guy could be Bond didn’t even cross Nicole’s mind. Though her New Years Eve fling was admittedly not high on her priority list of concerns right now. Nicole honestly hadn’t given too much thought as to who might end up in glee with her, but now she was praying that someone she knew would be walk through that door. Anyone! Well, anyone she liked.

CJ Barron

Just when CJ was starting to think that the stuffy gala wasn’t so bad, largely thanks to the copious champagne and a lavender clad blonde… someone had to go and ruin all the fun. The golden letter delivered by the server to both he and his companion was an immediate buzz kill and an almost as immediate cock block. Before the troublemaker could comprehend what was happening, his little Cinderella had made her escape and he was left with nothing but a foul mood for company.

The fucking glee club. The fucking bastards that were trying to hand out ultimatums. The fucking audacity of it all! Didn’t they know who they were inviting in the first place? As if CJ would give a damn about consequences! This party was a joke, and the threat of being sent to Juvie if he didn’t comply was a joke. He’d show them.

There was no point in sticking around the lame gala anymore, so CJ helped himself to a few more bottles of champagne as he made his way to the door. A server almost tried to prevent the teen from leaving while carrying half a dozen bottles of booze. Almost being the key word. The moment the server started towards CJ, the young man just barked like a dog, offering a growl to seal the deal, and the startled man servant backed off immediately. Laughing at the perplexed look on the man’s face, CJ left the hotel once and for all without looking back. Screw all those stuffed excuses for people.

CJ’s fuck it all and screw them mentality carried on through the rest of winter break and into the start of school. Even as the clock ticked closer and closer to the hour he was expected to show up for Glee Club, CJ didn’t sweat it. He wasn’t going to show up, and that was that. Besides, he had a long standing appointment with his fellow potheads under the school bleachers at that time, which he intended to keep. If anything, he was doing the rest of the club a favor. He wasn’t going to win any points with judges. So if the point of this ultimatum was to bring the club back to glory, then he was only helping their chances by not showing up.

Rather than heading to the music room like Ella, Jax, and Nicole, CJ strode off in the opposite direction. The only high note he was going to be hitting today would be from a freshly rolled joint with his name on it.

Cassie normally loved the first day of school. Call her a geek, call her a nerd, call her whatever you wanted but to her, the first day of school was almost like a fresh start. Of course, she still had her older brother around, the one that everybody knew. No matter where he went, Cole fit in like he was made to be there whereas Cassie usually stuck out like a sore thumb. Sometimes, Cassie didn't feel like she had her own identity. She was always Cole's sister, Vivian's cousin, someone's something and she hated it. Why couldn't people just remember her as Cassie? She was important too, damnit. But this was senior year. Wasn't this supposed to be the best year of your life?

Maybe the reason she'd actually had a good time at the party was because behind the mask, she wasn't Cole's sister or somebody elses something. She'd been able to be herself, or a version of herself that she wanted to be. And the guy she'd spent the night with, drinking bubbly champagne from the bottle and running around the house like it was theirs... it still brought a smile to her face. But today, he wasn't on her mind as classes came to an end and she realized she had to make her way to the glee club classroom. Her feet felt like lead as she made her way to her locker, grabbing everything she needed for the night, one book at a time. Painstakingly slowly, trying to distract herself. Glee club meant performing, and Cassie was not good onstage. Why had they even picked her for this?

When she couldn't justify spending any more time at her locker, she sighed and shut it, turning around. With her bag slung over her shoulder, she hugged herself as she headed for the classroom they'd been told to go to. Inhaling deeply once she arrived, she stepped into the doorway just in time to hear the comment the brunette up front made about the one in the back. Already sensing a bad time, Cassie tried to ignore the flush on her face as she took a few more steps inside. She'd made it about three steps before a loud voice from behind her nearly caused her to jump out of her skin. Whirling around, she glared at her brother, watching as he laughed and strolled into the classroom like he owned the place. "Jesus christ, Cole." She muttered, finding a nearby seat and slinking into it.

A few minutes passed before a man walked into the room, and Cassie recognized him as the drama teacher, yet another class she'd tried to avoid. With a bright smile on his face, he looked around, mouthing numbers as he counted everyone. "I count five of you. There should be six. It looks like we are missing... Mr. CJ Barron." He frowned, his eyes landing on Cassie, who happened to be closest to the door. "Would you be a doll, dear, and go fetch him? Hopefully he hasn't left yet. Thank you." With no other option in sight, Cassie snatched her bag up and left the room, feeling somewhat relieved to be out of there. The only problem was she had to go back. With a groan, she sighed, realizing she didn't even have any idea who she was looking for.

Most of the students had left by now or were leaving, so the blonde made her way out back, finding a group of students standing by the door. Hating herself for her social anxiety, she crept up to the crowd, clutching the strap of her bag. They noticed her after a moment and turned to look at her. "Can we help you?" One of them asked, and Cassie went red in the face.

"CJ Barron." Cassie mumbled. "Do... do you know him?"

"Oh, god, that guy? Hangs out under the bleachers." One of the girls scoffed, turning around, and Cassie knew their conversation was over. Huffing slightly, she headed in that direction, hoping to god he was the only one there. But of course, there were a few people under the bleachers. The smell of pot was strong, and Cassie wrinkled her nose as she walked through the cloud. She stopped by someone standing by themselves, taking a wild guess as she glanced at him. "Are you CJ?"

If there was one thing Coleson Blake hated more than just about anything, it was feeling as though he'd been used. The invite to the party had been surprising enough, especially when his own sister got one as well. He had heard of the parties, of course, and knew that it was rare for people to know who was who considering the masks and all. But knowing Cassie would be there, he hoped the girl could let loose and have some fun, like he planned to. And he definitely had. The bombshell brunette he'd smoked with and kissed like there was no tomorrow, the girl he hadn't been able to get out of his mind since then.

Though he was very angry come midnight when he got the second letter, eventually his anger ebbed away and he realized that he should have gotten the girls name. At the very least, because now the party was definitely over and he didn't have a clue who she was. Once Cassie had found him and he realized she'd gotten the same message he did, his anger had made him want to leave. And so they had walked right out of the party. But the girl he'd spent so much time with, she'd already fled, so even if he'd gone looking for her he doubted he would have found her. Which sucked, because Cole could tell they'd had a connection, but what the hell else could he have done?

Looking at the letter later on when he'd gotten home, he read it a few more times, trying to figure out any kind of loophole. He wasn't a singer, for fucks sake. He was a football player, a baseball player. Hell, he could practically play any sport that was out there and enjoyed most of them, whether it was watching or playing. His letter specifically told him that if he didn't go, he wouldn't graduate and would be forced to repeat senior year. Okay first of all, fuck becoming a super senior and becoming the laughing stock of the school. Second of all, he knew he had people looking at him for scholarships, and they wouldn't touch him again if he failed his senior year. Fuck. He really had no choice in the matter.

Now it was the first day of school, which Cole already didn't look forward to. But he went, as he was supposed to, and suffered through all of his bullshit classes that he just loved oh so much. When the end of the day came around, he definitely didn't make his way to the music room right away. Instead, he headed outside to hang out with some friends for a little bit, doubting he'd get in trouble for being a little late. What sucked was that Rachel invited him over, but he had to decline and then come up with an excuse as to why. Throwing Cassie under the bus, he told Rachel he had to wait around for her, but that he'd text her later if he could come.

Eventually he made his way back inside, heading for the music room. He spotted a familiar blonde head walking inside and grinned, sneaking up on his sister as she took a few steps inside the classroom. "CASSIE!" He shouted suddenly, causing her to jump and turn around to fix a glare on him. He laughed as she muttered something under his breath and he made his way to a seat, plopping down into it. Looking around, he realized that there weren't that many of them, and the other two women in the room were both brunettes. Well, fuck, that didn't help to narrow that down. There was also another guy in the room, but Cole didn't look at him for long.

A few minutes later, the drama teacher walked in and Cole about died when he sent Cassie to find the no show. "Have fun!" He called after his sister, chuckling under his breath.

"Are you done, Mr. Blake?" The teacher asked, clearly unamused.

"Probably not, but go ahead, continue."

Mr. Quinton, or Mr. Q as he was known around school, sighed and turned his attention to everybody else. "Well, there are six of you this year, and you all know why you're here. For glee club!" He grinned, clasping his hands together. "While we wait for Miss Blake to get back with our missing person, why don't we start with an exercise I like to use in drama class? Come on, come on. Everybody to the stage, chop chop!" He gestured to the makeshift stage at the front of the class. "We're going to pair off, so pick a partner and get to know them. Ask them questions, find out who they are. And then in a few minutes, hopefully our other two will be back, and then you'll get to introduce your partner to the class."

The room was empty for quite some time before the first person appeared and Ella realized that maybe it was for the best that she was there alone. She kinda liked it more. The guy who came in seemed like a ray of fucking sunshine, oh so happy that he came. That bright smile on his face revealed his pearly whites and his eyes were so cheerful that Ella was immediately reminded of her old squad. What was his deal? Who was this happy to come here? Definitely not Miss Reed.

The boy greeted her with joy in his voice and Ella just looked at him, blew a large pink bubble and popped it. There, she acknowledged him, right? One might think that Ella’s attitude was all wrong and yes, they would not be too far from the truth. But in her high school career, she had already ridden a roller coaster of everything. She came here as the rich girl and quite honestly, a real mean bitch, then she joined the cheer squad to make her feel like she belonged somewhere but while she stayed with the girls for most of her high school time, she never really found what she was looking for. Meanwhile, the situation at home was getting more and more obnoxious and Ella left the squad, found her own little group to share a cigarette or a blunt with but most of the time, she was a lone wolf.

The guy in his ridiculous shirt spoke to her again but Ella just shrugged, not knowing when the teacher was supposed to come in. Though she was hoping any second now because the sooner the came, the sooner they all could finish this and get out of here. But if Ella thought the Xmen guy was weird, then she had no idea what was coming next. Steps were heard outside of the classroom, getting closer and closer only to become the embodiment of what Ella hated the most. A cheerleader. “As if this couldn’t get any worse.” Nicole uttered instead of greeting and Ella and the latter groaned in annoyance. “Always a pleasure, Nicole…” she spoke dryly but Nicole went on and pried which riled Ella up immediately. Well, she never said her fuse was long.

“Do your sorority bitches even know you’re here? Or is the sisterhood thick as thieves only when it comes to “cool” stuff? I can’t imagine her royal head bitch if she knew you were here, hm, Nic? How about that? Or are you going to keep this a secret from them too?” Ella spoke in her fake sweet tone but Nicole turned her attention to the boy in there, bestowing her torment upon him as well.

“Unbelievable…” Ella murmured under her breath but then Nicole went on and jabbed at Ella again and that was that proverbial last straw. Ella let her feet down and was ready to slap the living jesus out of the girl. And she would have but then another member came in and Ella froze. But Nicole was in for a severe beating this semester, Ella promised that to herself.

Two more people walked in, the Blake siblings. Ella remembered Cole back from her cheerleading days and Cassie was also not unfamiliar to her. But before they anyone had a chance to say more than a simple hi, Mr. Q appeared and launched this session with such enthusiasm Ella wanted to throw up. He did a quick count and to Ella’s great joy, he uttered a name she knew all to well. CJ Barron. Now that was someone she would LOVE to see in here and it would be at least one friendly face. Ella was ready to volunteer but Mr. Q already sent Cassie and announced and exercise to the rest of them. A rather demented one if you asked the brunette.

“And what if we already know some people here are stuck up backstabbing bitches with questionable reputation and manners of a horse?” she asked, offering Nicole a fake smile.

“Two things, Miss Reed. First, language. And second, hop on the stage and find a partner.” Mr. Q smiled at her and Ella stood up with a huff. Before she knew it, only Cole was left as the geeky guy she wanted to grab was already speaking to Nicole.

“Coleson.” she drawled. “Long time no see, right? So? Tell me something I don’t know about you, hm?” Ella asked, popping another bubble. “Besides that this is retarded, that much is obvious.”

If Jax was ever out of his element, it was now. He was not exactly antisocial but being thrown into social situations where he had no idea what to do, what to say, where to put his hands. Especially when there were people he either didn’t know at all or they were way too intimidating. And the girl in the room definitely fell into the latter category. Jax tried a soft polite greeting but didn’t get a lot in return and she didn’t even answer his next question so he decided to keep his distance and see who was going to enter next. Then again, she was a brunette so what if…what if she was…? No. No, that couldn’t be. Or could it?

Another brunette entered the room and Jax knew he was screwed. His party companion was a brunette and now there were two. How was he ever going to figure out who Candy Kane was? Then again, did he want to know? Based on his performance, maybe he should just stick to his old ways and not try to find her. Definitely not after what that Blue Motorcycle did to him. From what he remembered, she was gorgeous, smart, funny and he had the best time with her. And she knew how to handle herself unlike Jax who usually stuttered like an idiot.

But there was no time for him to say anything because the two started to go back and forth and apparently, weren’t best of friends. Jackson felt his skin crawl over the cattiness and it seemed claws were about to come out. Seriously, girls were sometimes so much worse than guys. But then the prettier brunette turned her attention to him and Jackson’s face went red. “Uh, I…got…a ticket? Or…yeah, no, I got a ticket.” he stuttered and wanted to kick himself. Though one thing amazed him even more. “You watch X-men?” he asked and immediately regretted his question. What kind of dumb thing to ask was that? You watch X-men? Yeah, he wanted to shoot himself.

Thank god other people came in as well and Cassie was one of them. Jax’s puppy crush. She never really returned his feelings but also, Jax never confessed to her so there was that. But as the blonde entered the room, he perked up and was happier than happy that he finally had someone to talk to. What a luck! Though when her brother walked in right after her, Jackson shrunk in his seat. It fricking figured that this place was going to have a stabby girl in the back, a cheerleader and a jock. Once again, the guy was screwed. Especially after Mr. Q sent Cassie away three seconds after her came into class.

The exercise they were supposed to do now was tricky. He needed a pair. And damn, Cassie just left. It meant he needed to choose someone from the other three. Definitely not the emo parade in the back, she was too frightening. And Jackson had enough interactions with jocks in the hallways so there was no way he was going for Cole. With his face and ears beetroot red, he turned to Nicole. “You wanna….umm, you know…wanna pair up?” he asked, tucking his hands deep into his pockets as he stood up. “I’m Jackson. Jax for friends. You can call me Jax if you want. Or don’t have to, Jackson is fine too. So, up to you really. Or whatever else…you know…uh…” Damnit, Jackson, get it together! “Anyway, hi. What’s your name?”

Nicole St. Claire

Just when Nicole thought glee club couldn’t get any worse, she found the last person she wanted to spend a semester with seated in the back. Ella was quick to reply to Nicole’s less than cordial greeting, and Nicole just laughed a little. “You pretend you don’t care about what people think of you, but you can’t honestly tell me that you’re not keeping your participation in this club a secret too.” She countered, before addressing the nerd in the room, nicknaming him Wolverine, which elicited an excited You watch X men? “I’ve seen one or two of the movies on dates, but I don’t watch X men…” Nicole replied, not about to give this guy the impression she’s a comic book nerd like him.

Ella looked ready to slap Nicole for her next jab, which made the cheerleader grin loftily, but the appearance of the Blake siblings interrupted the cattiness. Cole was a sight for sore eyes, and at least someone Nicole knew and was on good terms with. He was also one of the few decent jocks she’d had a fling with before deciding they’d be better just as friends. There was no time to even say anything to Cole though before the Glee instructor arrived and gave them their first assignment. Cassie was sent to find the stoner kid, while Ella thought she’d be cute by sending some veiled insults at Nicole in front of the club.

“Wow, glad you know yourself so well Ella. Is that the opening paragraph of your autobiography?” Nicole shot back, noting the irony that Ella’s attempt at an insult pretty much described the emo brunette. At least in Nicole’s opinion it did. The glee club teacher then intervened before the insults could continue any further, and the cheerleader smirked at Mr. Q’s reprimand of Ella, enjoying her ex “friend’s” displeasure. “The latter goes for you too Miss St. Clair,” Mr. Q added.

The brunette’s obvious choice to partner up with was Coleson, but before Nicole could hop off the desk she was sitting on, Wolverine intervened. Nicole raised a delicate eyebrow as Jax stumbled over his words and turned red in the face, before finally asking her to pair up with him. Blue eyes flicked over to Coleson, who had subsequently been snatched up by Ella, before returning to the nerd as he stood and stuffed his hands in his pockets. Sighing, Nicole shrugged one shoulder at the inevitable, but remained where she was. She could get to know the bashful guy from right where she was, there was no reason to have him awkwardly stumbling onto the stage with her.

I’m Jackson. Jax for friends. You can call me Jax if you want. Or don’t have to. Jackson is fine too. So, up to you really. Or whatever else… you know… uh… Nicole just blinked incredulously at Jax as he sputtered out an introduction, remaining silent as what should have been a simple intro stretched into what seemed like forever. Perhaps Nicole would have found it cute if she were in a better mood, but glee club and Ella had decidedly soured her afternoon. “Mhmm…” She just hummed, once Jax stopped talking. Only for him to then ask Nicole what her name was.

The cheerleader’s freckled nose scrunched for a moment as her brow furrowed upon hearing that Jax didn’t know who she was. Nicole didn’t know whether to be offended by his ignorance, or thankful for it. Most guys at school were well aware of who Nicole was and her loose reputation, and tried to take advantage of it, but she has a blank slate with Jax. Softening her expression some, and deciding not to ostracize the awkward nerd, Nicole leaned forward some, resting her elbow on her knee, and let out another sigh. “I’m Nicole…” She replied, before adding, “…and I’m a senior here, my favorite color is green, I love milkshakes and sparkles, hate the glee club and all I want to be when I grow up is far away from this town.” Figuring that she might as well move this get-to-know-you along, Nicole offered the stereo typical information about herself, since it would have probably taken Jax 15 more minutes to ask. “And what about you Wolverine? What should I know about you?” The brunette inquired, poking his chest with her finger to emphasize “you” and see just how dark red he could get.

CJ Barron

The group of stoners reunited under the bleachers as if they hadn’t just been separated for a couple weeks for Winter break. Jokes and insults were passed around with a few joints as the ragtag group made quick work of getting high as kites. The only benefit of school, in CJ’s opinion, was that his outcast friends were all in one place. Though these guys weren’t friends in the conventional sense. None of them would take a bullet for each other, but they’d happily give their last ounce of weed if needed.

Taking a long pull of the hand rolled joint, CJ kept the smoke in his lungs for a moment, before slowly blowing the smoke out into a large plume. That really hit the spot, and CJ could feel his worries easing as the high started really settling in. Unfortunately, when the cloud of smoke cleared, it revealed that a new person had joined the smoking circle and a flustered Cassie stood facing CJ. For a moment, the rebel thought he was just so stoned that he was seeing things and he chuckled a little that his mind would conjure his old tutor. What had she been up to lately, he wondered?

However, when Cass was still standing in front of him after a few moments, CJ realized that she wasn’t a figment of his imagination and that she’d spoken to him. CJ come on… Though he’d initially noted the flustered expression on her face, he picked up a bit of frustration in her voice and he cocked an eyebrow. “What are you talking about? Come where?” He asked, almost certain his tutoring sessions with the blonde had ended last semester. “I’m not in the mood for having numbers and facts thrown at me today…” He said waving his hand to dismiss her. He accepted the joint that had made its way back around the circle, and he inhaled the drug before slowly blowing the smoke out in Cassie’s direction, hoping it might make the goodie good flee.

When she didn’t though CJ lazily sighed and hung his head. “Unless you’re here to get high with us, probably best to run along. Didn’t your parents ever teach you it’s rude to kill people’s buzz?” He said a bit rudely before his scowl grew into a grin as his attempt to startle her gave way to his high. He didn’t really have anything against the girl except maybe thinking she was too innocent for her own good, but he also was feeling the stink eye from his pals for being the reason Cassie was here. “You’re not gonna tattle on us are you? That wouldn’t be very friendly if you…” CJ said, babbling out his thoughts as they came to him regardless of any of Cassie’s replies to his previously posed questions.

Cassie couldn't believe that she, of all people Mr. Quinton could have chosen, was sent to get CJ and bring him to glee club. Cassie and CJ had a bit of a rocky history. Nothing extreme, but she'd tutored him the year before and it had become painfully obvious that he wasn't interested in doing that well. He was okay with doing the bare minimum to pass, something Cassie didn't and could never understand. She'd still tried her hardest when it came to tutoring him, but he'd done a pretty good job of dicking around. She still remembered how flustered she would get when he'd shoot a flirty comment her way, trying to get them back on task and then by that time she'd done all the work for him.

And then one day he'd just stopping coming. Cassie waited for him in the library until Mrs. Pritchard said she had to close the place down, and Cassie had just gathered her books and left. She'd even gone out and gotten him something. She was going to give it to him at the end of tutoring that day. It wasn't anything special, just a little charm she'd happened to find at a local thrift store. It had reminded her of him, and even though she doubted he'd ever wear it, she was going to make a little joke about it signaling the end of their tutoring time together. But as she'd taken it off the table in the library and stuffed it back into her pocket, she'd realized how stupid it sounded. Now that charm was stuck in the side pocket of her bookbag, where she'd never bothered to take it out again.

The smell of marijuana smoke was heavy under the bleachers, and it only got heavier the closer she got to CJ. Her stomach flip-flopped but she forced herself to shove the feeling aside, coughing a little bit as the smoke traveled into her nose and caused her eyes to water some. Waving her hand in front of her face, she took a half step back, crossing her arms over her chest as she tried to get him to come on. Instead of moving, though, he just cocked a brow in her direction and asked what she was talking about. Rolling her eyes, Cassie huffed and looked back down at the stoner. On her walk here, Cassie had realized exactly what was going on, and part of the reason she was so nervous now was because she knew exactly who she'd been with at the masquerade. Whether or not he'd figured it out, though, she didn't know.

When he said he wasn't in the mood for numbers and facts, she tilted her head in confusion, realizing a moment later that he thought she meant he needed to come to tutoring. "No, not to tutoring." She told him, her tone insistent as she didn't move, even when he waved his hand to dismiss her. Wrinkling her nose when he spoke again, she rolled her eyes when his scowl turned into a grin. He even went on to ask if she was going to tattle, and she felt her cheeks growing warm. "I'm here to take you to glee club." She told him, glancing over at a few of his friends as she said it. "You know. The letter we all got in the mail? After the masquerade?" She was pretty much giving herself away now, but if he still didn't get it that was on him. "Now are you coming, or is your greatest passion in life going to be smoking under these bleachers until you're thirty?"

Blake was already not a fan of this glee club, but he knew it was something he had to suck it up and deal with. He could fake it, right? Make it through, graduate, and be so fucking done with all of this. He was already having fun throwing out his sarcastic comments and teasing his sister, who'd just been sent to fetch the school reject. Rolling his eyes as Mr. Q asked if he was done, Blake sent another funny comment his way before Mr. Q announced what they were going to be doing until Cassie got back with CJ. Or without was more likely in Blake's opinion. Why had he sent Cassie? One of the other girls probably could have done a better job of convincing him to come back, especially the bubble-gum popping former cheerleader in the back.

Outright laughing when said former cheerleader made her comment about backstabbing bitches, he glanced behind him to catch her sending an obviously fake smile in Nicole's direction. Shifting his face to look at Nicole, he felt his grin fade some, remembering the rumors going around school about the two of them. They'd actually never slept together, as someone had interrupted them and killed the mood. Blake's anger had gotten the best of him and he'd smashed his nose in, and since then there was nothing between him and Nicole. But that didn't stop the rumor mill, and even though Blake had tried to tell people it didn't happen, but people would believe what they wanted. So eventually he'd just given up on trying to stop them.

Now here they were, back together again, only for glee club instead of an almost hookup. Figuring he'd team up with her for the assignment Mr. Q had laid on them, he stood from his seat but the kid with the wolverine t-shirt got to her first. He quirked a brow in Jax's direction before he just shrugged and turned to look at the remaining girl in the room. The brunette with an attitude. Smirking slightly, he nodded towards the stage and headed that way, turning and acknowledging her with a lift of his chin when she uttered his name. "It's definitely been a long time, Ella." He looked thoughtful for a moment at her question, though his eyes landed back on her when she popped her bubble, making her second comment that brought another grin to his face.

"You're such a sourpuss." He told her, though his tone was teasing. He looked around and spotted a couple chairs nearby, so he went to grab two of them, setting one down for her and then straddling the other one. "So, something about me you don't know..." He crossed his arms over the back of the chair, tapping his fingers thoughtfully as he tried to think of something interesting. "God, I always suck at this shit." He told her, his eyes landing back on her. "Why don't you go first? Tell me something about you." He grinned, leaning forward as he watched her chew her gum. "Favorite flavor of gum? Favorite position in bed? I'm down for any little tidbit of information." He laughed, straightening some in the seat as he looked at the other two. "How do you think they're doing?"

Once she left the cheer squad, Ella really hoped she was done with them. That band of harpies was sucking energy right out of her and it was extremely exhausting to keep up the good mood for the cheer every single day. Initially, she had joined the squad because it was supposed to make you feel like you had another family at school. Same uniforms, almost identical hairstyles, reserved table in the cafeteria, vip tickets for all parties and sisters for life. So they said. But it took Ella way too long to figure out that they were not a family but a nest of vipers. Looking back at her cheer days, she even wondered how she didn’t see it earlier. Cheerleaders here were nothing but a group of extreme bullies who terrorized people in the worst way possible. With smiles and sweet talk offered in the face while scheming behind one back. And Ella couldn’t take it anymore, so she left. Not even this supposed sisterhood gave her what she was truly looking for.

Meeting Nicole in the glee club was just a cherry on top of the whole milkshake of fucked up. Fucking figures. It was canon that Nicole was not going to keep her trap shut and started right of the bat. Ella returned every insult and much more. And yet, it seemed like Nicole had no idea when to stop. Insults kept piling up and continued to do so even when the teacher entered the class. He was one of those smiling types, always in a good mood, just getting on your nerves practically all the time. He felt that maybe he could make something out of this ragtag group. Oh, honey. Good luck!

The first task already sounded boring and Ella could just kick CJ’s ass. Apparently, he was supposed to be here to but never came. Had he been there, the choice of a partner for this exercise would have been so much easier. Ella also added her two cents, dropping another insulting comment towards Nicole but was scolded by the teacher. “Wow, glad you know yourself so well Ella. Is that the opening paragraph of your autobiography?” Nic retorted and Ella offered the fakest of the sweet smiles. “No, it’s from the school paper. They did a profile on you and want everyone to know that not only you’re a slut…”

“GIRLS! If I have to interfere one more time, you’re going to spend all January in detention.”

A strong voice coming from Mr. Q. stopped Ella’s latest insult and the wild child heaved a sigh. “Fine, fiiine. Sorry, I guess.” she threw her apology out there. To the teacher, not to Nicole, of course. But something was telling her that this war was far from over. And his threat? Weak. Ella was spending her afternoons in detention anyway.

Now she had to choose between a nerdy kid and a jock. Well, not that the choice was not clear to her immediately. Not only she didn’t want to listen to the stuttering nerd but she also knew who was Nicole’s choice. So she snatched it from her. Childish? Sue her. Cole packed a nice set of arms and a whole lot of memories of her cheer times. His name left her lips and she headed straight towards that small makeshift stage. Cole called her a sourpuss to which she just scoffed and grabbed the chair he handed her. Mimicking his way of sitting, Ella leaned closer to him, wondering what he was going to say. But he just threw the ball in her court, asking a set of questions.

“Favorite gum? Watermelon. Favorite position? Let’s find out.” she winked, popping another bubble, sending a small waft of watermelon his way so he’d know she was not lying. He then asked about the other pair which only made her groan. “She’s gonna eat that poor boy alive. That’s what they always do.” Ella shrugged and suppressed the desire to light up a cigarette. “Fucking hell… If I had known what the price to pay would be, I would have never gone to that fucking party.” she whined, resting her face on top of her folded hands. “Okay, quarterback, your turn. What’s your favorite candy?”

For a moment, Jax wondered how he got here. A part of him was glad he was chosen to join the glee club but it was that part which also told him showing up in a hallway full of jocks was a good idea so it was rather questionable. But glee club was supposed to be fun, right? A bunch of people singing together, dancing, having a good time. And they could even win some major competition. What was there not to like? And he could also make some new friends. Lord knew he needed them. So yes, he came here with an extra pep in his step, looking forward to another adventure. After all, if he managed to get through the party, he could battle the world.

And now he was sitting in the room with a jock that filled him with terror and two girls who looked like they were going to pull out their lightsabers and finish their squabble once and for all. It was like an epic catfight and Jax was sure he would never be able to think of half of those insults, like ever. No matter how hard he would try. It almost seemed like there was a special course to learn those. His eyes flickered around the room and honestly, the geek was searching for escape routes in case he had to run. Whether it was running from the battlefield or Cole Blake. The danger was definitely in the room and Jackson’s initial enthusiasm was slowly fading.

Thank god for Cassie. Though she was now gone, sent to hunt down some other dude who was supposed to join them. The realization then hit him. Cassie was also at that New Year’s Eve party! Damnit! And they never met. Instead, he spent his night with a bold brunette who--- WAIT!

Brunette, bold, outspoken, gorgeous, definitely out of his league… It was one of those angry girls! Jax almost fainted when he realized that he shared a midnight kiss with either the bad girl in the back or the pretty cheerleader close to him. But which one? Part of him wanted to find out but there was also other part which was not that much keen on it. What if it was Ella? What if Jax was making a fool of himself, pretending to be double-O agent, in front of the girl who could squash him like a bug with a heel of her heavy boots? And what if he was with Nicole? A girl who would never even look his way on a common day, a girl who was more than unamused by him and… No, no, better not think about it. They should move on and just…

Loud sound cut through the air and it took Jax a moment to realize it was Mr. Q. ending the petty conflict between the girls. He assigned them a task and they were supposed to work on it. Not to anger the teacher even more, Jax immediately moved towards Nicole, hoping she would want to make a pair with him. Damnit, Cassie, where were you? This was a perfect task for the two of them and she was forced to miss it. And Jax had to choose from three people in the room who was the least likely to hurt him.

With the worst stutter impending his speech, Jax introduced himself and went even as far as asking her for her name. Why? Why, Jax? It’s Nicole St.Claire and you know it. Everyone knows her. She is one of the most popular cheerleaders and her reputation precedes her. Why would you ask for her name? She frowned for a moment and Jax thought he fucked it up already. His mouth became dry and fingers fidgeted in front of him. But then she started to talk, giving him a small introduction, which pulled a soft laughter out of Jax. And then her finger tapped his chest, asking him about his geeky persona. And she still kept calling him Wolverine. “You know, if we’re gonna use superhero names, I’d prefer to be Spiderman.” he said, immediately regretting his words. Who does this? Seriously, could he be any dumber in interactions with girls? “Sooo…yeah, I’m Jax and I talk a lot. And right now, I wanna vanish. On scale from one to ten, how much you already hate me?”

Nicole St. Claire

Was Nicole an angel? Far from it. Was she as awful as Ella's insults made her seem? That depended on whose version of the truth one believed. And judging by the ex-cheerleader's last insult directed at Nicole, Ella's "truth" was rooted in rumors and gossip. Nicole was many things, but she wasn't actually a slut. She just let everyone else believe she was. Besides, the more she protested against the image her fellow male students had crafted for her, the more she'd seem guilty of her crimes between the sheets... or under the bleachers... or in the back of Bobby Moriarty's truck. You know, depending on whose lies one listened to. Of course, Nicole knew that when it came to Ella Reed, the crime she was really being tried for was that of being a cheerleader.

Miss Reed had made it very clear that she wanted nothing to do with the cheer squad or any of the girls she'd spent the last three years with, as if that made her better than all of them. While Ella and Nicole had never been the closest, the latter had thought they were friends and was offended by the sudden high horse Ella was riding after junior year. She trash talked cheerleaders, but had gone on to become a different kind of bitch in her own right. The only thing that made her any different now was that she didn't wear a cheer uniform and had found a new band of people to hang out with. It wasn't like Ella was off volunteering and trying to make the world a better place. She was just wearing grungier clothes and darker lipstick.

Nicole just laughed at Ella's last retort, the insult of "slut" was one that had long lost any power over the brunette long ago. She just shrugged at Mr. Q's warning, offering a placating smile, before she turned her attention to her stuttering partner. She took the lead, wanting to make this task as painless as possible and offered a quick introduction of herself. It had taken him forever just to tell her his name, so she was pretty certain it would have taken him even longer to spit out some facts. He certainly was a fidgety one, Nicole thought as she finished talking and studied him for a moment. He opened his mouth again, and the cheerleader prepared herself for another long winded sentence, but this time Jax was surprisingly succinct. You know, if we're going to use superhero names, I'd prefer to be Spiderman.

The brunette just glanced at Jax for a moment, wondering how in hell she ended up here in this situation. She'd carelessly thrown out the nickname, and here this kid was getting picky about which superhero she called him. Maybe he should have worn a Spiderman shirt if that was his favorite character. "So you like Spiderman. Gonna count that as a fact about you then." She replied simply, wondering how many things she needed to know about the nerd before the assignment was complete. Soo... yeah. I'm Jax and I talk a lot. And right now, I wanna vanish. On a scale from one to ten, how much do you already hate me?

A sigh escaped Nicole's parted lips as she leaned her head on her hand. Did she have the insults in her repertoire to tear this chatty, stammering nerd apart? Yes. Did he deserve it just because she was in a bad mood? No. Deciding to cut Jax some slack, for now, she just settled him with an impassive look. "Don't sweat it. As soon as we're out of this meeting, I'm going to push everything that happened here so far out of my mind that any embarrassing word vomit you have will disappear." She replied. "I don't hate you... yet. But you'd help yourself out if you'd just give me some facts I can use for this assignment- besides you wanting to vanish and talking a lot."

Had Nicole not been in such a sour mood thanks to glee club and Ella Reed, she might have had more time to think about the masked ball and how one of the guys in this club was 007. More specifically, how it must have been either Jax or whoever CJ was that was her mysterious date, considering she would have recognized Cole. She'd not had run-in with CJ, since the two swam in very different pools, but it would only be a matter of time before the stoner made an appearance and narrowed down the identity of the potential mystery date to one. For now though, the idea that Jax was the guy she'd kissed at midnight was the furthest thing from her mind.

CJ Barron

While CJ did not particularly care about what people thought of him, he hadn't exactly planned to tell his fellow potheads about attending the masquerade. And he for sure hadn't planned on telling them about glee club. Unfortunately, Cassie took matters into her own hands after CJ failed to realize why the nerd was there to fetch him, and outed the rebel to his gang. A few snickers and some laughs of disbelief echoed through the smoke circle, and CJ's grin returned to a scowl. He was too high to try to deny Cassie's claim that they'd been to a party and had to join glee, not able to collect his thoughts enough to come up with a sound lie about the intelligent young woman being out of her mind.

Taking a last drag, CJ glared at the blonde as he inhaled the smoke, keeping it between clenched teeth for a few moments as he handed the blunt off to the nearest teen. Taking a few steps towards Cassie, he released the smoke like tendrils from a fire breathing dragon as he half growled. "Let's go..." He still didn't plan to go to glee club, but he now couldn't remain in the group of high, cackling hyenas who would no doubt spend the rest of the afternoon roasting him for what Cassie had revealed. Just moments ago he'd been high as a kite, enjoying his time under the bleachers... but now... now he didn't know if any amount of mary jane could solve his brooding mood.

"Fuck glee club..." He uttered, once they were far enough away from the bleachers. "That seems more your speed, but it's definitely not mine. The letter made it sound like the school wants to win, and honey, I'm a sure fire way to ensure we get last place." CJ said, glancing over at Cass. "Surely the rest of you can manage without me..." He added. The way he saw it, a bunch of invitations must have gone out, and there'd be a dozen or so people to fill the glee club up. He'd missed the part where only 6 individuals were invited to the gala and forced to join glee. Had he known though, even in his haze, he may have put two and two together to realize Cassie had been his midnight kiss.

"Can't you cover for me Cassie?" CJ sighed, turning to fully face her now as they neared the entrance of the school. "You're smart, you've got to be able to come up with some excuse to get me out of this." He said, glancing down at her. "I mean, if you can get me to be able to pass my classes, you can pretty much do anything..." CJ continued, laying it on thick as he offered her a crooked grin. "I'd owe you big time..." The bad boy reached out and played with the ends of Cassie's blonde hair that fell in front of her shoulder. "And I could think of a few ways I could pay you back..." As he gazed down at the nerd, he felt a sense of familiarity he wasn't used to. Not from when he used to flirt with her during tutoring... but something else.

Cassie was definitely not thrilled about having to be the errand girl for Mr. Q, going to fetch CJ and bring him to glee club. Obviously, the stoner didn't want to be there, so why did she have to go convince him? If he wanted to suffer whatever punishment his letter had laid out for him, that was his choice, wasn't it? But Cassie wasn't the type to go for confrontation, so she didn't say anything back to Mr. Q. But the closer she got to the bleachers where CJ was smoking with his stupid buddies, the more nervous she got. Trying to bite back her anxiety, she found him and accidentally outed him. She realized her mistake when his friends started to laugh and snicker, and CJ himself started to scowl. She wanted to turn and run, but she forced herself to stay right where she was.

CJ took another drag from the blunt in his hands, holding the smoke while Cassie held her breath. He reminded her so much of the dragon on the charm she'd bought for him in that moment that it was almost funny. Almost. "Let's go..." He started towards her and then passed her, and Cassie quickly spun on her heel to follow his path, not wanting to remain under the bleachers any longer. They walked in silence for a minute or two before he spoke, causing Cassie to look over at him. "You have no idea what's my speed." She muttered, crossing her arms and hugging herself as they walked back towards the entrance to the school. She frowned a little bit when he told her they could manage without him, though she didn't say anything, as her mind was already trying to figure out what might happen to the rest of them if he refused.

"Can't you cover for me Cassie?" She glanced up at him as he turned to face her, almost missing his words entirely. He brought up their tutoring sessions and she scoffed, rolling her eyes without thinking. "You mean those tutoring sessions you stopped coming to?" She snapped, stepping around him to head for the door. She knew she sounded bitchy, and she just hoped he wouldn't pick up on the fact that she only felt that way because she'd been hurt. When CJ said he'd owe her, she stopped and turned to look at him again, trying to ignore the shiver that she experienced when he reached out to tug on her hair. "I'm not interested in free weed, or anything else you can think of. Now come on. We need to get back." She stepped away from him, giving him another onceover before she turned and walked to the door.

She made sure he walked in first before she followed him, and then fell into step beside him as she led the way back towards where the glee club was happening. The door was closed now, but she just nudged it open and stepped back in. Mr. Q immediately greeted the pair, gesturing to the stage area where the other two pairs were. "The exercise is getting to know your partner. Since you two are last, you're paired up. Five minutes everyone!" He remained seated by the piano and Cassie just sighed, glancing at CJ again before she headed for a section of the room that wasn't super close to the others. "Can you sing, CJ?" Cassie asked suddenly, turning to look at him again, eyeing him carefully. It was honestly something she didn't know about him, and now she was curious. And somehow, it still hadn't hit her yet that the people in the room now were the only ones.

Coleson wasn't really a fan of drama, which was one reason he was grateful for the sister he had. She didn't get involved with the drama here at school or anywhere, really, since she tried to avoid people in general. He knew that being in glee club was going to be a real challenge for her, but she did have a good voice, so maybe it'd be good for her. Not if those two catty bitches kept this shit up, though. God. Sometimes the drama could be funny, but these two throwing insults back and forth was just them acting like a bunch of kids at the park. He was happy for the distraction of the group project that Mr. Q had given them, even if he thought it wasn't the best of projects.

Along with pretty much everyone else in the room, he had no idea that Ella Reed was his companion from the masquerade. Maybe if he'd put two and two together that no one else-- other than Cassie and CJ-- were coming into the room, he could have figured it out easily. But for now, he was asking Ella about her favorite flavor of gum and her favorite position in bed, both of which she answered with no qualms. He grinned as he sniffed the air, almost able to taste the watermelon himself. "Watermelon is my favorite, too." He grinned at her, leaning forward on the back of the chair some. "And I'm game. When and where?" His grin widened, just as the door to the room opened and his sister returned with the rebel. Looking at them over his shoulder as Mr. Q greeted them, he smirked at Cassie and gave CJ a quick nod before he turned back to Ella.

"They?" He echoed her word, realizing a few seconds later that she meant the cheerleaders in general. "They're not all bad." He shrugged, glancing over at the other two as she asked him about his favorite candy. "Reeses Pieces." He shot back, slowly turning his head to look at her again. "But I hate M&M's of all kinds." Dropping one of his arms to hang over the back of the chair, he sighed dramatically. "What are you hoping to gain out of this?" He lifted his other hand, gesturing around the room as he leaned back, his eyes remaining on her. "I for one would like to get the hell out of this school. But who knows? Maybe something good will come of it." He tilted his head, his eyes traveling over Ella's body shamelessly. "You still have your old cheerleading outfit?" His lips curled into a smirk as he looked up at her eyes again.

Cole ( apolla apolla ); Nicole ( Desert_Blossom Desert_Blossom )

Arguing with Nicole was like talking to a fucking banana in Ella’s book. The outcome would be exactly the same. And even if she wanted to continue the yell fest, Mr. Q stopped them from doing it, forcing them to focus on this shitty exercise which sounded like straight from the psych class. Seriously? Wasn’t glee club more about singing and dancing then circles of trust? Ella didn’t have a lot of it stored for others and the only person she fully trusted was herself. But at least she managed to score a decent partner who seemed to enjoy fun just as much as she did. Maybe if CJ had come to class on time, Ella would have gone to him and they could pretend to be talking and getting to know each other but since he decided to take his sweet time, there really weren’t many options left.

Ella and Cole got to talking and naturally, the talk turned to cheerleaders in a way. Cole’s little comment made her scoff but she refrained from saying anything else now. This whole thing started with enough drama already and while Ella was rough around the edges and had no filter, she knew it had nothing to do with the jock so why pull him in it anyway? Instead, the wild child decided to focus on the little pieces of information she was getting from him.

“Reeses are good. Have you tried the white chocolate ones though?” she asked and honestly, it felt rather great to just speak about innocent topics such as candy. The brunette couldn’t remember when was the last time she managed to do that. Sure, there was that tease of them hooking up hanging in the air and a part of Ella wanted to propose a little indecent meeting after this shit was over but she didn’t. Considering the had to stay here for the rest of the school year, she could save this snack for a bit later.

Cassie and CJ joined the room after a while and Ella gave them a onceover, meeting CJ’s eyes. A playful smirk curled her lips. She knew CJ for a while now and she knew every part of him very well. And he knew her the same way. And the best part of this deal was that they both could walk away anytime without hurting the other. The perks of a friendship with benefits.

Cole’s voice pulled her out of her lewd thoughts and she pondered over his question for a moment. “Good? Dude, look at as. Have you ever seen such a ragtag group? Most of us hate each other or don’t care. We’re supposed to win but how can we do that if we are not a team? What I want is get out of here as fast as possible but considering the people here, I don’t think it’s happening. I guess there’s just too much history. Or too little. There is no middle ground.” Ella’s sad dark gaze found the teacher at the piano who was the only one looking incredibly glad and happy and she sighed.

“My old uniform? Well…” she grinned and wanted to tell him she had burned it in a cult offering which would be a lie. “As a matter of fact, I do. No idea why, but it’s still in my closet. Why?” she asked, curiously scanning the handsome face of a boy in front of her.
