What do you expect from RP's?: I expect a hodge-podge of ideas mashed (or weaved) together to form a story that no one person could have made quite the same.
What do you expect from THIS RP?: I’m thinking an epic adventure with structure and intense dice rolls is about to get underway. Tell me if I’m wrong.

What kind of Experience do you have in RPing? : This is going to sound strange. I’ve watched hundreds of hours of people playing DnD, but have only played 5th Edition once. I’ve been on this site for about 2 months now and am still new to forum roleplaying. I have no experience with combat systems in forum roleplays, but I play a lot of video games so I’ll get it down eventually.

What genres of RP do you like?: Fantasy and sci-fi.
What times are you available?: I have no reliable time I can quote. I work a full time job with no schooling and varying hours.
How long on average are you on?: 2-3 hours.
How many posts a week do you think you can make?: 3-4. Estimation, of course.

Are you willing to contribute in World building? If so, in what way? : YES. I mean. Sure. I could write religions, flora, fauna, cultures, monsters. I enjoy researching new things. Fair warning, though, I’m not that creative. Nothing I create will be really “out there”, and are usually based on real life things that are tweaked a little.
Would you be willing to play a role already setup?  : Sure.

Would you be willing to play an Antagonist? : Sure, sounds fun. I prefer being comical relief/underpowered/lovable villains, but I’ll take serious villainy if the story calls for it.

Would you be willing to GM certain events?  : Hell no. Sorry if that’s a deal breaker. I’m very aware that I’m relatively new to this and need more experience before running things. Responsibility makes me queasy, yo. Ask me again in a month.

Member Tl;dr stats: On every 3 days average for 2 hours. 2-3 posts per week average. I hate holidays.

Biography

Birth Place: Maxwell

Date of Birth: Glacial 5th, 977 C.Y.A.D (Given by his adoptive mother)

Nationality: Northerner

Personality: Cecil is a contemplative, effeminate young man. Once a rough-housing boy, that side of him rarely breaks through the serenity he emanates. He is quite curious of the world and the stories it holds, which can be mistaken for naivete'. His fascination with people (more specifically their secrets) has led him far away from home as well as earning him his expansive library of tales he keeps in his head. Though his apparel and naturally stoic demeanor put off most, he enjoys the company of others, being a natural people-pleaser to a mild degree. He actively tries to maintain this demeanor, himself thinking of it as an act he performs 24/7. He will often be heard rather than seen, playing for himself; others enjoying it a positive by-product. Has a bad habit of ease-dropping. His apologies for doing so are blatantly insincere.

I hate writing personalities.

2 Positive Traits: Empathetic: Cecil can easily see both sides of a conflict. If he can't, he will actively seek to understand.

Well-spoken: Cecil has little problem speaking exactly what is on his mind in large audience or small.

2 Negative Traits: Indecisive: Cecil can become entrapped by simple decisions for minutes on end as he weighs the pros and cons of each path. Larger ones may take a great deal of time or pushing to make him decide on what is the best course of action. In this way, he is a terrible candidate for leadership, and prefers to follow.

Uncaring/Cold: Though Cecil would not call it so, he is rarely emotional. His words and facial features do not align at times.

Weaknesses: Blind: Cecil cannot see. He can only detect the world in a rough 5m radius without the aid of wind.

Feeble: Cecil is thin and lanky, not knowing the meaning of the word “physical training”. He can tire easily, and isn’t very durable.

History: Early Days

Cecil was given his name by the witch Velka and her nomadic coven of Arte performers. Whether cast away, given, or bought, Cecil never found why he’d come into her care. For much of his early childhood, he lived in darkness with only distant cheers during performances, the cool winds over him as their troupe travelled, and sweet lullabies from his adoptive mother to keep him company. He was taught all that he knows from this woman and the coven that was a loving, if eccentric extended family. He was taught the Lute at the age of 8, and later trained for a performance that would be the buzz of many small settlements along Lake Maxwell for years to come. Blind, armed with a Lute and months of training, he was pitted against an enraged papaopamus calf. Sensing subtle sounds amidst the cacophonous crowd, he eventually came to anticipate the attacker’s movements when it was most crucial. As he elegantly evaded each of the animal’s charges, he played energetic tunes with a bright smile on his face. He was dubbed “The Blind Bandit” until one performance went awry resulting in a near death experience and a felled adult papaopamus by his enraged mother.

Recent Years:

Cecil was banned from such dangerous performances, and instead was tutored in the elemental artes by his mother and other spiritually inclined uncles and aunts. He learned how to become in-tune with spirit energy. In his teen years, he grew to love the noise of the wind especially, which he still insists sounds like music to his ears. Its constant and familiar whistling became his way of seeing the world. He traded his previous attraction for danger and excitement for a love of the world he could now experience and the stories it held. He collected the stories of travelers, history, and fables alike by way of mouth as they travelled. He learned of great tragedies, comedies, and all in between. He worked them into songs both hopeful and sorrowful, resonating greatly with the sorrowful ones despite having such an ideal upbringing. When his informal training was complete at the age of 16, he set out alone to see what life could offer him. He’s come and gone with the occasional soul coming to recognize him as his previous alias, since which he’s abandoned with fervent embarrassment.

Occupation: Travelling bard. He’s an unknown musician who is rarely recognized for his current or previous performances.

Life Skills: Self Sufficient (money wise), talented at various instruments, and very knowledgeable of verbally passed tales and their ambiguous morals.

Material Possessions

Clothing and Attire: Dawns loose black robes made with fashion and presentation in mind as well as being comfortable to travel in. Underneath are common underclothes. They offer little protection.

Personal Items:

 • -      Black crown with a precious jewel in its center adorned the man’s eyes . While the expensive metal was purchased to increase his mystique, the onyx is a memento from his adoptive mother, who always had a fixation on jewelry and may have passed that onto her son.
 • -       Lute.
 • -       Weighty trick dagger with a projectile blade on chain.

As long as the redirection is simply away from the user and not redirected towards another target. If this were a higher level I would allow that ability as I have a similar arte in another character.

Arte level 2

Name of Arte: Unworldly Eclipse

Type: FLD

Description: The field is encapsulated by thick black smog that reduces sight to 3m radius. Weakens Fire, Lightning, and Light elemental ATK artes by -1. Grants Dark ATKs +1.

Elemental: Dark

Price: 10 Token points

Cost: 12 SE

Weakening all those artes is a bit so let's leave it. The reduction of sight however should have a more precise effect. I would suggest, following the activation of this arte, that all players can only target a max (1) target. and all EVA dice are disabled.

Arte level 3

Name of Arte: Unnamed Song

Type: FLD

Description: The field is surrounded by a whimsical wind carrying a strange song that is somehow familiar to all who hear it. Reminds and emboldens allies’ personal resolves for fighting. Grants 3d4 spirit energy to each listener.

Elemental: Wind

Price: 15 Token points

Cost: 18 SE

Re-powering SE to all allies is a bit tricky to balance. Either all allies gain 1d4 HP or all allies gain +2 SE. You see I do not want to give out more SE than you can dish out as a player. This arte requires 18SE so in an equivalent exchange +2 SE would re-energize 9 allied players. Of course, this arte can be used several times in combat. So I think 1 of those 2 options is good.

(NOTE: I cant think of a more fitting result/buff for Arte level 3^. I’d be appreciative of suggestions.)

Arte level 4

Name of Arte: Unto Darkness

Type: SEAL

Description: The user’s shadow materializes and extends toward the target in a snake like tendril. Roll a 1d6. 3 or higher results in the target becoming enveloped in darkness, all senses becoming suppressed. 2 or lower results in only 1 random natural sense suppressed, decided by a d5 in this order: Sight, Hearing, Smell, Taste, Touch. All results last until battle is over, or user is defeated.

Elemental: Dark

Price: 20 Token points

Cost: 24 SE

Rather than using a dice to determine which random sense is suppressed, I will leave the choice up to you. If the targe is fully enveloped they would not be able to react properly unless the SEAL is broken by the appropriate artes. Therefore in the interest of fairness, when the target is attacked and loses HP the seal effect is broken otherwise, opponent beatdown would be easy.  Also, SEAL can be broken by artes of HEAL / SPT or EHM

Arte level 5

Name of Arte: Unbiased Punishment

Type: FLD

Description: A great storm forms overhead. Four tornadoes hone in on the sources of the most spiritual energy. Those targets engulfed will have 10 of their SE stolen. The tornadoes will coalesce into a maelstrom that will ravage the field scaling with how much SE was stolen in total.

10 SE, -1 HP to all inside. Lasts 2 posts.

20 SE, -1 HP to all inside. Lasts 3 posts.

30 SE, -2 HP to all inside. Lasts 4 posts.

40 SE, -2 HP to all inside. Lasts 5 posts.

Elemental: Wind

Price: 25 Token points

Cost: 30 SE

Again, we can't have SE gains and usage be out of balance. 30 SE would be the total allowable maximum.

(NOTE: Regarding this class I want to create, I think it’d work best if I could drop one element in favor for more powerful artes the Savant specializes in to fit the theme, OR more fitting would be to control one element at will out of combat. A.K.A ripping off Avatar Last Air Bender. I didn’t want to overstep my bounds by changing how a custom class works before asking.)

The arte levels are a way to relate how to react to them, having more powerful artes would not work here, since it would mean they would be more powerful than the artes of all other characters approved lists.

In the world of Elegos, all supernatural ability requires the use of Spirit Energy. Control of an element, even outside of combat means, would still mean that SE needs to be expended.

So to have someone use SE in the way that the Avatar did, would mean that they have a HUGE amount of reserves, in which case every little action would be measured in some way in the RP. Or that the whole concept of limitations would be removed, sort of like Avatar, where bending literally had no limit. I am only hard ass like this because the previous incarnation someone also wanted the same thing but with the element of ICE and it annoyed the hell out of me because the use started slipping into combat. So for now I will allow the 'control of element' as part of your 'ability' but if it becomes out of hand or not in the best interests of the RP I will ask to remove it.

You are not being hardass by any means. I expected to overstep bounds and fumble with the system. As long as you can tolerate that and continue to educate me on how this works, I'll gladly work with it.

I'll address things here and have edits in 8 hours when I awake.

Thaaaank you for the ideas on Artes levels 2, 3 and 4. Definitely going with those suggestions. About 5, I guess I'll just change it to a giant maelstrum with the already listed result for simplicty's sake.

When I proposed stronger artes for the Savant's focused element, I did not mean adding a level 6 or 7 arte. That'd be OP and unprecedented in the system. I meant rather that all artes with Wind would be stronger than if a non Savant were to use them. I guess that wouldnt work anyway sense we're using low numbers. I'll drop the whole Airbender spin and just keep that useless Lightning element.

OKAY. I gotta go. Ready for review @Shin Positron Laser.

Im unsure, but will that level 5 arte hurt the user as well? Could I add that Wind Savants are immune to it, because I'm pretty sure Cecil will kill himself first time it's used. That'd be pretty hilarious though so it could go either way.

Level 6+ artes do exist. I simply have not incorporated them here. YET. The previous incarnation had those levels available after the veteran players that were still with me showed a great understand of how the system worked. I gave them the ability to have more powerful artes and more freedom of creation.

OKAY.

Artes should never hurt the user unless that is what you as a player want it to do. I know for a previous character I had that is what happened. It's good for progressive character development. But yes immunity is fine.

CS approved!

@Shin Positron Laser My Level 2 Arte is in needs of a nerf. Sense Leila's Level 5 reduces dice, my Level 2 shouldn't be more powerful than that. The main function of this is to force people to hone in on only 1 person anyways. (Albert cough cough that would be amazing synergy with his chara). Proposal~ Major change underlined.

Arte level 2

Name of Arte: Unworldly Shroud

Type: FLD

Description: The field is encapsulated by thick black smog, reducing line of sight. Forces all within to target a maximum of 1 target. Reduces 2 EVA Dice from those within. Weakens Fire, Lightning, and Light elemental ATK artes by -1. Grants Dark ATKs +1.

Elemental: Dark

Price: 10 Token points

Cost: 12 SE

I understand where you are coming from. However if you recall, field artes cancel other field artes. So because yours is a level 2 anything higher can cancel it out. Either npc or characters artes. But thats fine with me if that is what you desire. In fact if I may suggest can it be revised that it weakens only 2 elements and powers up 1. And now that think about it,I assume that the boosts a reduction should affect atk artes.

I guesssss if I take into consideration that it's a low level FLD. It's so weird how the balance for artes is reversed as contrast to other things.

High Level FLD Arte = Low Effect but high priority.

Low Level FLD Arte = High Effect and low priority.

I'll keep that in mind. I made the edits for your suggestion and made it clear the Dark boost is for ATK Artes.
