It was possible that Johann was just taking over for Danica, but Alucard hadn’t gotten the sense that Danica intended to trade spots until Johann showed up. She might have driven them all the while to a campsite and let Johann rest if he needed it. No, Alucard couldn’t help but think that Johann was sent out by Lucia, but he would need to confirm that.
He couldn’t help but snort, briefly, “That’s your solution to all my social problems,” though he trusted her on the matter of Trevor, and he’d tried to bridge some of that. Trevor had shut them out, though. “I’m not going to run him off – Lucia might do that all on her own,” because if he didn’t see that Lucia was a vampire, he was blind.
Humans didn’t have red eyes.
Even if that didn’t startle him, that with the rest of her features would certainly give it away. Especially the fangs.
That he hadn’t taken notice of Alucard’s yet, or reacted, was good. Alucard suspected being mostly quiet had helped his own tell-tale fangs go unnoticed. Or perhaps he just considered them overlarge canines.
“He can prove himself to us,” he had that chance. “I just find the circumstances of his arrival unusual, though I suppose there is nothing usual going on right now.” And while his worries wouldn’t dissipate, he had no intentions of being mean to the other, so long as he remained cordial to the rest of the group and helped. Having someone else to clean things would be nice.
“I think we have enough now,” he said as he looked between the pile that had grown in both of their hands, “Let’s head back.” If they beat Trevor back, Sypha could start the fire however she wanted. Otherwise, he supposed he’d be amused with her attempts to start one normally. He wondered how long it might take her, or if Danica would have to intervene in starting the fire. Or Johann. On the way back, he couldn't help but ask, "How is it you are so trusting of others, but so afraid of what those in the group are going to think of you?" And how was she going to confess what she was now given the stranger.
Alucard somehow didn't think Lucia or Trevor were going to let it slide.
