Background: Born in Springdale and lives with their father and older brother, Mark. Their mother died of cancer when they were quite young and their father hasn't really gotten over it. From an early age Rowan has been bullied for a lack of physical ability and traits that were deemed to be overly feminine, often being picked on for an assumption of gayness. Rowan's father only upheld this at home, doting on the older brother, Mark, who was a more typical sporty jock type and struggling to connect with Rowan, who the man saw as being in his words "a bit of a pansy". Rowan's father would often throw around slurs, although not directly, more out of ignorance than outright malice. Regardless, this upbringing lead to Rowan developing a lot of anxiety and a lot of fear and repression of their actual sexuality for a long time. When Lorraine started up the LGBT club Rowan didn't go at first but after a while they showed up seeking help to "deal with their condition". Over time with the group though, they managed to grow to accept themself for who they were and began on the road to becoming more confident. The LGBT club being shut down, however, came as a reminder of how little society would accept them, however, and caused a lot of damage to their budding self-confidence, with Rowan becomeing noticably more withdrawn and anxious in the aftermath. They did manage to raise up the courage to tell the group about their questioning of their gender recently, however, after a lot of soul searching over the summer prior.
Others: Deals with quite bad anxiety and imposter syndrome. Also thinks that they might have undiagnosed ADHD or Autism. Their father forbids them to recieve therapy or get tested. Returning members will know these things about them.

Environment: Low-middle to middle class family, the Young family preached that education and family are very important. To seek a well paying job so as to be happy, being parents who could only provide for their children through the means of running their small business. The Youngs are very family oriented, nothing is stronger nor does anyone love you more than your family.
Religious Beliefs: The Youngs raised their children on Christian beliefs while also having parts of their family specifically catholic. Jackie personally thinks that Catholicism is hypocritical, and even the loosest kinds of Christianity, ultimately he is not very religious, nor is he convinced whether or not there is a God. He doesn't make this open to anyone in his family besides his brother and just allows them to think what they do on his beliefs.
Political Attitude: Jackie hates politics, they are annoying to him and the fact that people call 'strong opinions' about anything politics makes him aggravated. He doesn't believe they should be one in the same, to him politics are just about who is running for senate, president, and I am sure you get the idea. He doesn't categorize himself in anything, though I would say he is liberal.

Hair: blonde with darker roots, brown when wet, either styled or messy, medium-short in length, thick but rich and soft, when maintained can run hands through it, but don't expect the same ease after just waking up or going through something like a hurricane, it's easy to get knotted and tangled in circumstances like that, he is liable to dye his hair though when and for how long he sustains the color is unpredictable
Eyes: brown, nothing amazing, they seem depth-less; however Jackie will also wear contacts so his eye color can change
Skin: Jackie has some red but predominantly yellow undertones, with his skin ranging from fair-light to tan, depending on how much sun he gets, he used to white wash but doesn't anymore, his skin is not without it's imperfections, sightings of far spaced freckles and moles here and there, though they become difficult to detect when he's tan.
Piercings: Jackie has pierced ears, although he does not always wear earrings, you may notice he only makes a habit of wearing them to events, such as art shows. Multiple points of his ears are pierced for different placements of earrings, he does not have gauges.

Future Plots: His boyfriend and he will be breaking up at some point. Sometime during the post break-up period his older brother will be flying down to check on his well being and pretty much babysit which Jackie will hate, it'll be funny I swear.
Plot Ideas: After a week or something, they get robbed, or thieves attempt to rob them but a handful if not all of the roommates are still at the apartment.

- "Blondie" is a nickname/tease he was given by earlier classmates and family members when he first died his hair blonde and decided to take it and use it as his Artist name and now signs all his work "Blondie"
- "(My) Brew" is an endearing pet-name used in place of "Dude, Bro, etc" between Jackie and his older brother, Jin.
- The tattoo Jackie has is shared, in the same spot on Jin's ankle. In case you found it confusing it means they've survived years and instances of being swatted with their mother's shoe.
-He can afford the bills, school and corresponding resources just barely, with that said he can afford instant and pre-made foods eating a cooked meal about once a week
-His brother, Jin Young, is seen to have his life together, having passed through college and on his way to be a lawyer, having a girlfriend of about 2 years, and a decent living space. His parents often compare them, and try to use it as encouraging Jackie to seek a different more bread-winning career, unhappy with his choice to change his major in art.

    Personality: Somewhere between prickly and fond of jokes, Arii is one of those people you don't realize is there until they say something either extremely inappropriate for the situation, or fairly funny. They do their best to do well in school, but they're quite easily distracted, and are often regarded as a pain in the classroom. Either way, though, they get good grades—if just because their anxiety demands it.

    That being said, they're very open about their identity, having a grand selection of pride paraphernalia. They're quite new in town and just haven't gotten the general consensus around "the queers".

    Background:
    Tl;dr: Born in Pennsylvania, ended up in Virginia after an Incident with their bio parents (who they don't remember all too well) and traveling, eventually ended up with Jet and Platinum after a few homes that they... didn't quite have the emotional stability to handle, and the two were so goddamn persistent that they caved.

    A couple of years after that, they moved to Springfield because the situation in Virginia was getting dicey on more than one side.

Background: Through relentless skill and a competitive spirit on the soccer field, an easygoing and energetic personality, and charming good looks, it didn't take long for Jamie to become known as one of the high school's popular kids. With a circle of friends that include other popular students, Jamie nestled himself neatly in the general population.

He'd enrolled alongside his childhood friend, Kate Bellamy, who was his complete opposite: simple, unsociable, and only focusing on her academics. Unbeknownst to him, she harbored an unrequited love for him for several years. In those years, with steady encouragement from her friends, she accumulated the courage to confess. Eventually, she did, meeting him after school and on the verge of a nervous breakdown. To her absolute pleasure, he accepted her feelings.

On the surface, it's plain and simple love story in the middle of a standardized school. And if that's the case, then Jamie would know he's done a good job of masking his feelings; how his eyes drifted to other male members of the soccer team rather than the female cheerleaders; how, even after accepting Kate's feelings, and trying his hardest to convince himself that he was "normal," those other thoughts never went away.

"I am not like them," he'd keep telling himself, smacking the top of his head. He'd kissed Kate, and she was trembling with happiness; why couldn't he feel the same way?

It was then he caught wind of the Cartography Club's true nature. He figured that, by joining them in their little escapades, he could compare himself between the others and finalize the "fact" that he isn't gay, based solely on how "different" he is from them. But no matter how much he tries to convince himself, the uncertainty never goes away.

[Background] Born to a loving family, Aaliyah grew up with a safe space away from bigots within her community. She was a big fan of Lorraine Carter's LGBTQ+ support group, as she loved the idea of helping other queer people feel as loved as she did. While it was still active, Aaliyah and her family were one of the main contributors to the support group's campaign to stay alive, and Liya was one of the most let-down people once it shut down. In spite of its shutdown, however, Liya began the Cartography Club; a boring-looking club used as a guise for the undercover LGBTQ+ support group she leads.

Background:
Derrion was born and partially raised in Atlanta until his parents moved him and his older sister Jiana (nicknamed Ji) to Buffalo, NY. Making a long story short, Ji came out to her parents as bisexual and they sent her back to Georgia to live with their aunt until she went to college in Alabama. Upon entering high school, Derrion realized he wasn’t straight, but he didn’t immediately come out to his parents. He told his sister, and she suggested he come live with her. In the summer right after his sophomore year, he packed his things. Ji came up to get him, causing a large argument with their parents where Derrion told his parents he wasn’t straight. After many hurtful words, he and his sister made the trip back to Ji’s apartment where he now resides. Ji works at a local bar and is enrolled in college half-time. She depends on Derrion to cook and maintain the place for her after he gets home from school. Surprisingly, he’s really good at it. He’s even made a hobby of cooking.

Charlotte grew up being homeschooled and often participated in gymnastics, dance, and cheer where she met her friend Ashton. Her parents doubted the public schooling system and couldn’t afford private school. She wasn’t a bad student and did well under her stay-at-home mothers teaching. However around high school, Charlotte started to notice she hardly had friends to rely on outside of hobbies. She wanted to meet new people and try doing public school. This led to about a year worth of begging to at least let her give it a try. When her parents relented and finally allowed her to go, she stumbled across the cartography club. She had heard some rumors and got invited by Ash and honestly before hearing about the club, she never really gave her sexuality a thought before. She liked men and women but it was never something she yearned for in that type of manner. Curiosity got the best of her and she joined.

Background: Blair was born and grew up in LA. She is the middle child of four, with a brother a couple years older who really takes after their father and a pair of identical twins (one boy and one girl) five years younger who constantly get pampered by their parents. Blair on the other hand was often neglected and ignored. Her father is a devout Catholic minister with her mother being the daughter of a wealthy businessman and bringing a lot of money to the family. As such her parents raised their children in a very conservative environment. Over her childhood, Blair grew a bit of a rebellious streak, often lashing out in a bid for attention. Her parents often responded to her outbursts with stricter discipline and harsher rules, leading to a bit of a rift between them and her and causing her to resent both them and also her siblings, who were noticeably favoured over her. Around puberty, Blair began exhibiting what were seen as homosexual tendencies and her parents panicked. They decided that it would be a good idea to try and curb her homosexuality by sending her to a Catholic all-girls private boarding school. Blair spent the next couple of years there and it was there that she really discovered the horror genre and the Goth subculture, forging the beginnings of her persona. Her time at that school ended however when she was caught making out with another girl in one of the dorm rooms. Her family quickly decided to pull her out of that school and saw a need to take drastic measures. Thus, her father took a position across the country as the head priest in a small town in rural America in order to try and teach her a lesson and knock her out of her sinful, liberal ways.

Personality: Briallen is the kind of girl who laughs freely and covers up pain and discomfort with teasing jokes even if they have to be a bit self-deprecating. She seems quite confident on the surface, but its all for show. 'Fake it til you make it'. Rarely would Briallen be willing to stand up for herself, not that many would be interested on trying to pick on the tall, athletic young woman. At least, no one said rumors to her face.
Background: The daughter of a Marine, Briallen never had a chance to settle in one location for very long. It created a very lonely childhood for her, one that she filled with dance until she was old enough to begin participating in sports. She learned very quickly that she could make friends quite quickly through the comradery of a sport team, and she thoroughly enjoyed the praise she would garner if she surpassed expectations. Now that her father has finally left the military to become a civilian engineer, Briallen has been given the chance to enjoy a bit of permanence in a place that she only vaguely remembered from her childhood. After going through a try-out period to join the volleyball team, Briallen overheard some of the other girls talking about a cartography club. She was a bit curious since it didn't sound like they were talking about any club she had heard about before. She'd give it a try, after all, what was the worst that could happen? If it didn't strike her fancy then she could just quit, and it was an opportunity to maybe make some new friends.

Background:
Ashton grew up in a single mother household with his father leaving pretty early on. He has two older sisters who used to play dress up with him when he was younger. He didn’t mind it; he sort of embraced it a little in elementary school. His mother didn’t mind it at first, it was cute seeing the siblings have fun and she assumed he’d grow out of it. But he never really did and she, scared he was gay and/or trans, shut it down and shamed him from crossdressing more and more as he got older. For a little while, he stopped and shut himself in for a little bit.
He ended up joining a cheerleading team, using the guise that he would be surrounded by a bunch of girls and would possibly be getting a girlfriend. He thought he could crossdress a little but he was wrong about that (aside from occasional natural makeup). Ironically that was where he found out he was gay and realized he was fishing in the wrong pond. However he did genuinely enjoy cheering and hanging out with girls in the team and stayed because of it. He met Charlotte there and he grew somewhat close to her and disclosed to her he was gay and like to crossdress after a few years with her. She was happy to lend him any of her oversized clothes that he hid from his family. He joined Lorraine’s club and was disheartened when it came to an end. When Liya made a new club he happily joined and once Charlotte revealed she was coming to public school, he invited her to join as well.

Personality
Ratt is best described as...fiesty. His reputation serves him well, usually describing him as an incredibly rude young man who gets into fist fights enough to consider it a hobby. Ratt is snarky and temperamental, making it particularly hard to like him. Ratt's lack of education was focused instead in his cleverness with comebacks.
"Respect is earned, not given" could almost be an accurate description of befriending Ratt, however it's more along the lines of, "My willingness to suffer your presence is earned, not given". He's defensive immediately upon introduction, which makes it not only difficult, but tiring to try to befriend him. However, once you (somehow) surpass the label of acquaintance into some smidgen of friendship, Ratt can prove to be extremely protective. Don't be mistaken, he will absolutely be cruel to your face - but he'll be willing to fight anyone who talks badly about you. That being said, he doesn't particularly have friends around the school. Surely there's more reasoning to his aggressive temperament than simply being an asshole though, right?

Career
Ratt has taken up the incredibly honorble job of a restaurant mascot - one directly across the street from a certain creamery, which Ratt hates. It's a wonder the disgusting restaurant is still open, much less gets service. His job consists of entertaining children, which he hates, while he wears an oversized, creepy rat mascot (his boss will insist it's a mouse, but Ratt will insist otherwise). The mascot's head is all too big and its beady little eyes are just a bit uncomfortably small, all topped off with a checkered bowtie roughly the size of a ten month old baby. Ratt enjoys his days curbstomping very resilient children who cling onto him and occasionally spitting into the pizza of a bitchy mom, or catching a garbage-feasting rodent - his best catch so far was a raccoon who was fighting an opossum over a can of olives. The opossum got away, but Ratt brought the raccoon inside to scare kids away (and to feed greasy pizza).


Pets
Pixie and Pansy, two female rats he found in the Pizza Parlor's kitchen stuck in a bag of moldy cheese. Ratt would later find out Pansy wasn't a female, leading to Ratt being a grandfather at the ripe old age of 18 years and 43 days.


Appearance
Other than his height, Ratt sticks out like a sore thumb in most environments. This can be blamed on his affinity towards spikes, leather jackets, fishnets, and various other iconic punkrock imagery. His hair is a slightly overgrown, shaven look - in the most obnoxiously bright green dye he could find. Ratt's nose is permanently crooked, and you're rest assured to find him with some hello kitty bandaids (especially keroppi) and numerous bruises. The unhygienic boy is also missing two teeth, which he lost in a fight with a football player. He claims he won, but don't believe him.

Relationships
Ratt doesn't talk to much of his family anymore, unless he's trying to squeeze some extra cash from them under the guise of trying to better himself. Having a more negative than positive reputation at school, students nor teachers care much for him. He isn't likely to pick someone out of a crowd to bully, but actually interacting with him pretty often ends in bad relationships. That being said, most students haven't actually *talked* to him.
Otherwise, Ratt doesn't know much of anyone, besides one specific student who he absolutely can't stand.

Jeremy was born to his Japanese mother, Jiang Xin and his American father, Captain Kyle Hunter. When Jeremy was only two years old his father passed away. His mom said it was in a work accident. Three years later his mother re-married to another American named Larry Smith. Jiang did not take her new husband’s last name in honor of Kyle’s memory. His uncle, Kim Xin, would sometimes talk about Kyle’s passing but each time the events of Kyle’s passing were slightly different. To do this day, Jeremy still does not know exactly what happened to his real father but he is determined to find out.

Page 2:
It was sleeting the day they caught him. He had thought no one had seen him, but there was a witness. There was always a witness. He had spent six months in juvi, which is exactly where is republican step-dad had wanted him. The family freak quietly removed and hidden away out of public eye, and out of the scrutinizing view of other conservative families that were watching. Jeremy did his time suffering the abuses and slights of his fellow peers. His mom had told him there was talk in the family about conversion therapy immediately after Jeremy got out of juvi but they would not accept anyone under 18. However, Jiang had always supported her son’s preferences and soon she divorced her lawyer husband. Since Larry had connections to the local judge, he was able to get rid of his wife and her son for only $15,000 a year stipend while Larry lived in the luxury of a six figure income (what an asshole).

Page 3:
Kim told Jiang about a safe refuge in Springdale, some 50 miles south of Riverdale, and how he thought it would be the perfect place to raise Jeremy where her son could safely explore his sexuality along with his peers. During the summer Jiang and Jeremy settled into Springdale in a small home. Jiang got a job at the local library to help pay bills and Jeremy works for the local newspaper, The Springdale Daily, delivering papers in the morning, seven days a week.


Others: It is not above Larry Smith to plant someone to keep tabs on Jiang and Jeremy. Jiang knows this and she suspects every new person she meets that they may secretly work for Larry. In fact, just last week the home next door went up for sale and sold in 24 hours. Closing is to take place in a few weeks and that worries Jiang. She wonders who would have bought the home so quickly. She asked the neighbors about it, and they said it was a cash offer and the buyers only saw the pictures of the home online, they didn’t even come out to look at the home in person. Jiang has deleted all of her social media accounts and has encouraged Jeremy to do the same. Who will the new neighbors be? And can they be trusted?

Background: Kate has always considered herself a background character; one who just so happened to be longtime friends with the ever-popular and complete opposite that was Jamie Vega. They'd met in the same kindergarten, with a then newcomer Jamie striking conversation with the shy Kate and never leaving her side since. Growing up, he was always one of the few people she felt comfortable around.

Kate generally kept quiet in school, opting to focus on reading or studies rather than being social outside of a few friends. So while others speculated on who Jamie's mystery girlfriend could be, they never suspected that that same person would be the unremarkable Kate.

If you were to ask her how it happened, how long she liked him, or what made her fall for Jamie, there'd only be one answer: she doesn't know. How was anybody to know what 'love' was supposed to be? she'd think to ask. The only hints of what it could be lied in the romance novels Kate occasionally picked up. It took years of trying to figure herself out, wondering why her eyes sometimes wondered to both guys and girls, and building up the courage to confess. However, for her first love, Jamie has been nothing but the best she could have expected. Maybe, after all, it was love?

To Kate, it was a good ending. Her loving parents, who in their own right lived and wanted a quiet, normal life, had their own views which "fit in" with the rest of Springdale. Gradually, Kate is coming to terms with her love for Jamie. What she hasn't noticed, though, is the distance that he still tries to keep from her.

They ended up living with Lorraine until the summer, and when she had to move on, they moved in with Diana.

Personality: Regina is a girl used to getting her way, and all would be better off if they didn't try to interfere in her plans. Petty, vindictive, and egotistical are all words that have been used to describe Regina. While it is true that she has friends, that doesn't mean that they are safe from her catty behavior. After all, as long as she continues to play nice with her parents and follow their plans for her life then all was going to be smooth sailing as far as repercussions went. So what if she wasn't actually happy. Money could buy happiness eventually, right? And should anyone try to out her to her family? She would find out every little thing that person held dear and make them watch them go up in flames. There were times that Regina could be genuinely nice, but they were very few and far between. There usually needed to be something in it for her.
Background: The Hayworth family has been prominent since the very start of Springdale, or at least that has been the lecture that Regina has heard time and time again regarding her family's illustrious family. That meant a great deal of pressure was on Regina's shoulders to follow in her family's footsteps. She needed to be perfect, or at least what her family considered to be perfect. She was an articulate young woman and excelled scholastically. When it came to social standing, there were few who could rival Regina's position. Yet Regina kept a secret from her family and her upper class friends. She had known since she hit puberty that she was a lesbian, and it was something that she struggled to come to terms with since she knew that her family would disown her if she were to openly embrace this part of her. They were old-fashioned, expecting her to marry an upstanding man from a prominent pedigree once she entered law school. It was while she was grappling with this situation that she joined the group, and she had remained perfectly silent when all hell had broken loose on Lorraine's group. Pretended she had nothing to do with it, and it had been difficult to disavow any involvement to her family. She needed to think of her own welfare first and foremost, though. So she was hesitant to rejoin this club when Diana followed in Lorraine's footsteps. She was confident that her reputation was enough to keep people silent on her involvement. And if not? Well, it was best for that to not even be thought of. After all, Regina had learned well from her cut-throat attorney father. Never go for the kill: go for the pain.
