It had been a peaceful morning thus far, and that is how she intended it too be. Blanche had sat in her corner of the Ravenclaw table with her book munching on some bread and a glass of pumpkin juice. The blonde was happily engrossed in her book none the wiser of what could possibly happen that morning. She chose not the think to hard as it was only the first day of classes.

She peaked over to look for her sister before going back to her book with a small sigh. Not many people spoke to her anyway so she was just enjoying her reading. Sylvie on the other hand was sitting outside the Great Hall. The dark haired Slytherin was a bit afraid to go in. It was her first year well- being out as herself. This was her 7th year. After fully coming out – she was no longer Somnus but Sylvie. The girl prayed that no one would make fun of her or tease her about it. The process was hard enough already. She took a deep breath hoping everyone was in the hall already so she wouldn’t be forced to go inside.

Though boy was she wrong. A flash of a broom flew buy messing up the girl’s hair. The flash of the broom bursting its was into the Great Hall was Miriam. Already donning her Quidditch uniform flying around the hall with the biggest grin on her face. Her curly red hair bouncing behind her as always. “Never to early to join Quidditch!” She shouted as usual. Letting herself fly around the hall until she was either forced to land by a professor or crashed. Whatever came first. Probably the crashing as soon as she saw a pretty girl knowing her.

Skyler was sitting at the teacher's table quietly reading the paper and drinking some coffee. The one and only time during the day the professor wasn't super cheerful and upbeat. Well until He had his coffee that is. He barely looked up from the paper seeing the menagerie of stuff going on before him. He tucked a single strand behind his own ear. " Well, this boring is starting off with a flying success....." He joked a bit nudging Sylvester lightly. Auggie is a quietly talking to himself reading his Herbology book by his lonesome at the Ravenclaw table. Stuffing his face.
Micah was trying to practice spells muttering under his breath flicking out his wand gently with nothing happening. The Hufflepuff ended up sticking his wand into his pocket now in a huffy mood. Only thing he seemed good at was blowing stuff on accidentally. Let's hope that won't happen right now. Artemis stood up from the professor's table as she saw the host ghosts floating in and waved over to them excitedly. " HEY GUYS ! HOW WAS YOUR SUMMER!!!!!" She shouted a bit louder than she meant too waving her hands like a crazy person. Most students either loved the silly Ghoul Studies professor or they just ignored her.

Cerulean Lestrange sat alone at an empty table per usual again.

They always seemed to be looked over or ignored being only a 5th year. But this year they were the Quidditch announcer. That excited them more than usual. Trying not to bounce out of their seat in excitement.

It was a quiet morning, something that Heather aimed to remedy. She scanned the Great Hall, looking for the person she decided would undoubtedly become her new friend the moment she learned of their existence. Heather had never been all that concerned with Cerulean Lestrange. After all, Weasleys and Lestranges were born to be natural enemies... Or so she'd heard. But now that Antiope had kindly informed her of the news, duty called for friendship.

Aha!

Heather scurried across the Great Hall, snatching up an apple before she plopped down into the empty seat across from the new Quidditch announcer. And, Heather decided preemptively, Heather's new best friend.

"Good morning!"
she chirped before she bit into the apple. She swallowed it, grinning at Cerulean.
"Heard you're the new Qudditch announcer! I'm Heather, one of the beaters for Gryffindor."

She leaned forward conspiratorially,
"And future beater for the Holyhead Harpies. My great-grandma played for them, did you know? And my Aunt Corrine too. They were Chasers though,"
she rolled her eyes at that as she bounced back.
"What's your favorite position? Favorite pro team? Favorite... Broom?"

Heather noticed some of the surrounding students sending glares her way so she shrank down a little into her seat.
"Sorry, just got a wee bit excited there..."
she said quietly as she twisted the stem on her apple.

Lana Del Ray

Her tall figure was hunched, but she knew it didn't make her any less stunning, any less of a perfect being. Sure she disliked the eyes on her at all times, the lustful gazes, the way they raked over her figure. SHe knew they couldn't help it but still.

Ugh. She shivered, goosebumps running across her body, and shoved her head deeper into her book.

The outside was a random history book she had picked up and the inside was one of her comics... Just because she played the part of a nerd didn't mean she would read at the dinner table! She wasn't that bad.

She flipped another page, admiring the artwork of her favorite edition of Batman, other books were stuffed in her bag haphazardly, she would've been much more careful with them if magic didn't exist.

She turned another page, ignoring her untouched plate full of food, when was that important when you were reading comics! She laughed slightly at a joke she had read hundreds of times, a sound that had been described as bell-like or angelic.

She stopped laughing her eyes flickering around to the eyes that still didn't leave her form, she sighed.

Being a half-breed sucked, especially when you couldn't control what you did very well, god she hated who she was, er, well that she couldn't take advantage of it, of course! The Veela part was great, so, so great. The only reason she didn't like the stares the mean gave her was because she hadn't found the right person yet!

She would eventually find him and... settle down... and have kids and... that was what all women wanted and she was just like them! It wouldn't be right for a Veela to be different from anybody else, if she was different well... She wasn't so it didn't matter!

ABENI BOLAJI-AGNELLO

There was a sense of sadness that made her heart ache once it was time to board the Hogwarts Express again. Leaving her family was always hard for her. Some would scoff at her, rolling their eyes for her way she acted as if she’d never see them again. After all, leaving for school was a process that had been going on since she was eleven. Surely she would be used to parting ways with them at the age of 18. Their words meant nothing to her of course. Abeni would always miss her family when it was time to return to Hogwarts.

Her homesickness had engulfed her as soon as she’d stepped foot onto the ancient land. It was always worse when she would visit her mother’s side of the family in Nigeria. She basked in the love of her cousins, in the affection of aunts and uncles, and the wisdom of elders. The way that they would all come together was an experience that she never wanted to let go. To be ripped away by the obligations of a proper education was almost cruel.

Abeni sighed wistfully amongst a group of her fellow puffs. When met with their concerned looks she only smiled. “I’m just feeling a little homesick is all.” She confessed, comfortable enough with them to reveal her vulnerability. There was never a fear of being judged while amongst her housemates. An arm was tossed over her shoulder and she was given an affectionate squeeze. Abeni was quickly reminded why she loved Hogwarts so much.

They had been so caught up on catching with each other that the time had flown by. Before they knew what had happened, there was only about 15 minutes left for lunch. They could only laugh as they scrambled to finish getting ready. Upon seeing a few more students in the same situation, they had quickly joined together. They chatted throughout their little journey and upon walking into the hall, they moved towards their table.

With curls bouncing from a slight pep in her step, Abeni made her way to the table. She took the time to greet more of her friends as she passed. It was when she reached the Gryffindor’s that she heard someone call for her. Whipping around, her light brown eyes locked on a pair of familiar green ones. Abeni’s eyes rolled but the smile never left her face.
Her steps were light as she made her way over.

“Graham! It’s good to see you again! How are you?”

;; Cerulean

Cerulean looked up from where they sat fumbling their hands as a Gryffindor pounced their way over to the table. “Morning” They peeped in return with a nod about the Quidditch announcer part. Yes: They took on the helm for that this year. They were secretly excited but were not showing it. The last thing they wanted to do was be judged for it. They reached up a ran a had through their ginger locks with a small sigh. Listening to the other student glancing up occasionally at her.

“My name is Cerulean….I will learn all the students who participates names eventually” They managed to stammer out with much hesitation. Knocking their knees together nervously. Pulling on their sweater nervously.

“ I wish you luck with that endeavor………My favorite broom model is the Firebolt and I think the keeper has a job that is not talked about much and I find it fascinating” They managed to say after a deep breath.

Talking-yeah.

That wasn’t a strong suite for Cerulean. Never would be.

The 5th year gave a meek smile.

“ it’s okay…..Just not used to talking to people” They mummured quietly.

TL;DR Hi!
tl;dr
Graham

So break was a fecking shithole.

Listen, he wasn’t the most “agreeable” of people out there, even though people tended to do what he wanted. But long stretches of time with him? Yeah. He was kinda a “feck and dump” kind of guy. Not the type of guy people really want to stick around.

Hey, it wasn’t self-pity, it was just facts. But then his ASSHOLE of a pureblood father decided to kick him out of the house over the summer. And where was he to live? Well. Hookup’s couches. A stranger’s bed here and there. A park bench a couple of sad, depressing nights.

Long story short, he was happy to be back in the Gryffindor dorm.

Speaking of which, Graham was about to help himself to breakfast when he saw a head of curly hair. A buddy of his - something surprisingly few and far between.

Someone that actually stuck around… A little bit, at least. He wouldn’t say that she knew things about his life, but… hey, everyone likes a little bit of completely platonic companionship every now and then.

Time to do a suitable greeting for this buddy of his.

“OI! ABENI!!!!” He shouted at her, with a large enthusiastic wave and a bright smile. “GET OVER HERE, MATE!!!”

Subtlety was an art form, after all. And why use careful strokes when you achieve the exact same result by throwing the entire paintcan at the issue.

A little glare thrown at his Gryffindor buddies who were trying to give him (and her) shite. None of that, she was his buddy and that was that. It wasn’t like he wanted to feck EVERYONE at this godforsaken school…

… It’s just that he’d fecked or tried to feck the vast majority of the people at this godforsaken school. But not Abeni. Abeni was just a mate.

“How are you?”

“I’ve been doing great!” He’d been doing shite. “Had a nice and relaxing vacation, slept around a bit, y’know how it is” Threw in a wink for flavor.

Well. Slept around as in was struggling to find places to sleep. But splitting hairs, splitting hairs.

“What about you, love? How was your break?”

ABENI BOLAJI-AGNELLO

Now while Abeni didn’t know Graham to his core, she was at least aware that he was the type to say that he was fine when he really wasn’t. But the two of them were close enough for her to push whatever issues that plagued him. It truly made her sad to think about it. Abeni would love it if he opened up to her. However, she peered at his smiling face, this was also nice. It would be best if she let things happen naturally. Abeni didn’t know anyone who enjoyed someone picking at them.

“No, I don’t know how it is actually. But all that matters is that you’re being safe. I’m glad that you enjoyed yourself!” Abeni was well aware of the actions of Graham’s housemates but she was used to it by now. A little teasing didn’t bother her and she knew that they didn’t mean any harm by it. Instead of getting them the satisfaction of a reaction, Abeni softly nudged one of the people beside Graham. “Can I sit here? I’d hate to be away from Graham a moment longer.” Her tone was longing and clearly dramatic.

As soon as she was able to wiggle into the empty space and then wiggle again to avoid being squished, she looked down at the empty space in front of her. A bowl of Ogi appeared next to a plate of steaming Sfogliatella a moment later, Abeni couldn’t help the sigh that left her lips. Hogwarts really did have amazing food, of course it wasn’t the same as home cooked meal in her opinion but it would do. Abeni was quick to scoop some of the custard into her mouth. As soon as the flavors of honey and milk hit her tongue, she sighed dreamily once again.

Abeni took a few more bites before pausing. Wasn’t she doing something before the food had come? Slowly, she turned to see Graham peering down at her. The skin of her cheeks felt warm now as she gulped the spoonful down. “I…oh, right.” A sheepish smile appeared on her lips. “My vacation was amazing. I visited my family’s compound in Nigeria and got to meet with all my cousins and other family members.” There was a soft look in her eyes while she spoke.

“It was nice catching up with them. We spent most of our time outside on our land and coming up with ways to pass the time. Visiting the market was my favorite.”

Just a Kid

Noah Vela

He flipped through a page in his book. It was uninteresting but better than being surrounded by the people at the tables. He had snagged a muffin and that was all he needed for breakfast, it was better not to fill himself up, it was worse going back home if he did that, eating his fill and then having to go back was always a terrible feeling. "Great, Hogwarts... Nice."

August huffed and ignored the ache in his stomach for more food, he would puke it up if he ate a lot anyways. "Mmmm, I wish it was different."

He turned a page and his eyebrows furrowed, he had been enjoying the views of this author, very similar to his own, magic matters and not blood, but as many books did they always had to be muggle-loving filth. "Stupid Muggles..."

Oh! What his father would have done to these no good people if they were in his boots, they would be set right in moments, and just because August thought muggle-borns worthy of a place in magical society didn't mean he felt less superior than them, August was pureblood and they were always superior, Period. "Father would hate these people..."

He had culture they had none, that's how it went! Though he wished that culture didn't include incest, particularly in his parent's case, he refused to elaborate on how closely related they were, just that he was glad that he didn't end up with any unfortunate traits, at least that he knew of. "Ugh... Disgusting people."

Much to August's dismay his habit of muttering that had caused him much pain had come back full force at Hogwarts and he had been whispering about politics loud enough for anyone near him to hear him rambling.

Many things he would keep private always slipped out and it absolutely mortified min. He slapped a hand over her mouth and looked around wildly to see if anyone had heard him and his mutterings.

Wright woke up late. He'd gotten used to sleeping in over the break, a habit he'd have to break again... Probably for the last time. It had been a nice break; a quiet one spent with his siblings at their London house. Far, far away from their mother. They'd made their rounds, of course. The Carrows always did. Small parties with the elite, both Pureblood and just plain famous. Wright managed to be amicable enough around his mother when those occasions arose, but it was getting more difficult as the years wore on, as he grew older and acknowledged just how terrible his parents had been to them before the death of Larch Carrow gained Wright and his younger siblings their freedom.

Somedays, he just wanted to disappear, dissolve into the Muggle world, never to be seen again.

Maybe one day, he could live that dream. For now, he needed to take care of Nico and Antiope. And Augustus, Wright added mentally when he heard a familiar muttering from somewhere in the hall.

Wright rounded the corner, his hands dug into his pants' pockets. He tilted his head as he approached, cautious and quiet.
"You might want to quiet down a little, August. These halls carry."

Once upon a time, such blatant Muggle hatred might've been tolerated in the halls of Hogwarts. That time had passed. And Wright, admittedly, worried for the younger boy. Wright watched August with a faint ache in his chest. Would he have been better off as a Carrow?

He dismissed the thought immediately. There was no point in speculation. And besides, it wasn't like Wright or his siblings were any more adjusted than August, no matter what the rest of the world assumed of them.

"taking care of the kids again"

Anastasia was an early bird for the most part. Before her roommates could have woken up, she was oftentimes already out of the room to work on her own things before moving onto the breakfast table. It was a habit that she had gotten since her first year and most of her roommates had gotten used to her lack of presence in their shared room— not out of malice or dislike for them, but one out of a need to always be moving.

The morning didn't bring as much stress as the latter parts of the day does. As much as she loved the little pranks and general demeanor of the other students, it was nice to finally be able to get some peace and quiet every now and then. The full moon had been relatively recent as well— fresh wounds and wrapped bandages a great reminder of it. For all of lycanthropy does, it apparently only wants to bring pain to its victims. Not even a shred of better regeneration or better vigor. It was a plague. It was a pain.

Still, when she entered the Great Hall, Anastasia placed a smile back on her face and strode towards the Slytherin table, sat down and began to eat. Slowly, the Great Hall began to fill up with other students. She had half a mind to head towards classes as well until she spotted some of her friends filing in. Conversations filled the place. Anastasia and some of her friends had gotten to Hogwarts ahead of most but they enjoyed catching up again over breakfast.

Anastasia was about to suggest that they should leave for classes when she noticed someone duck under the table. There was a feeling inside her gut that she knew who this was. As discreetly as she can, she peeked underneath the table.
"What trouble did you get into this time, Vi?"
She questioned, a joke at the tip of her tongue that she swallowed. Viola had some trouble differentiating jokes from serious fliting— something she had learned the hard way.

She let out a small sigh.
"Have you eaten at the very least?"

Viola sat firmly underneath the Slytherin table, she had messed up again. You might ask her, 'what have you done this time?' Well it was a prank. One she hadn't meant to do alright, she was prepping for a different one! She didn't mean to spill spell resistant baby oil all over the 4th floor stairs! She didn't mean to but she'd still get punished anyways!

She paused leaning against Ana's leg, "I did an oopsie..." She whispered, "Avoid the one set of stairs on the fourth floor with the trick step." She added so her friend wouldn't fall into the same trap as her, her legs were soaked completely through with oil, that was the reason she was hiding because she had slipped down the stairs herself and it would be easy to point out that she had no reason to be there so early in the morning.

She didn't want to tell Ana but she had to or she wouldn't give her anything, but she was still thankful that her friend wouldn't ask to many questions and would pass her food while she hid, it was a pain to have to go to the kitchens for a snack when breakfast was going on!

"Nope! Haven't eaten yet, major hungry right now, pass a muffin, a chocolate one." ...She probably wouldn't give her a dessert muffin because of her 'health' or something but it was worth trying.

Royal & The Serpent

The ham sandwiches that she had set aside to eat were now covered in green liquid, she huffed, miffed that she had dropped one of the crystal vials so stupidly, mostly in part at being too into her work and so easily spooked.

Selene sighed and jabbed her wand at the sandwich wordlessly cleaning the chemicals out of the bread, while there was most definitely residue from her work still in there, it didn't matter much, magical healthcare was useful like that.

Selene sighed and turned back the burner under one of the bottles, she was making concentrated calming drought, put it in pills and hopefully candy in the future, for kids and herself when she needed to sneak in potions.

Calming drought was the first step in her solid potions experiment. Then the headache removing potion, which was also the hangover potion and the only reason she could teach.

Really this was an effort that would make her rich once she perfected it, it was a wonder no one had really capitalized on this, sure she'd heard a few instances of solid potions but they were highly useless ones.

She of course in her absolute genius, and that wasn't bragging, decide to capitalize on this opportunity. It would do good for the world and was useful for her too.

She chomped down on her sandwich as she watched a concentrated drop of the potion fall into the tiny vial that would be the essence of 3 full potions itself, this ould take quite a few hours and would likely fail just like the rest of her attempts.

TL;DR Pleasant small talk
tl;dr
Graham

Graham looked at his lil buddy. Weird. Surely she’d heard of his… proclivities with sleeping around. Oh well, probably was trying to avoid talk of his escapades. Fair play on her end.

He scooched over, nudging the person next to him to give them space.

“As the lady requests.” he said with no small amount of irony and sarcasm laced into his voice. The redhead gave another little glare at one of his housemates who looked at them knowingly. Oh, the reputation of being a manwhore sometimes sucked dick, but it was good at keeping most other people far far away.

… Sorry that was a bit heavy. Here’s a fact about space!

There’s a wave with a single crest which travels for long, long distances due to self-reinforcement. It’s called a soliton.

Anyways his buddy was now talking to him about her own break. And honestly? It was a vibe. Beneath all the bluster and the bravado that Graham tended to put on, he did have a couple of morals.

Groundbreaking, he knew, but he wasn’t a complete and total bellend, you know?

One of those morals was that he absolutely valued family - both those in blood and those in spirit - with the highest regard. Perhaps this was why they were friends, at the end of the day

It was just a shame that his family didn’t want anything to do with him.

“Sounds absolutely fantastic Family’s a blessing and a curse.” He said with a small smile that maybe could’ve been something just a little bit vulnerable. It was gone in a blink of the eye. It was those small glimpses of humanity that usually managed to turn people to this rather bombastic personality. The small hints of something underneath when he was trying to seduce and romance.

And, it’s what probably also helped his friendships with people struggle along when he said absolutely stupid shit like what came out of his mouth next.

“Oh really now? What was the market like, love?” He said, a larger grin pulling at his lips. Wide, like the sun. “Meet anyone special?”

He asked that with a little pop of the p in special. The slightest hint of a wolf-like grin and a batting of his eyelashes. Just a little bit overboard to distract from the softer statements of before.

Listen, emotional vulnerability was scary. Especially in the house of Gryffindor where he was supposed to be brave and.. Well. Lad-like.

" Look out! Coming through!" Miriam shouted as she continued flying around the Great Hall. Easily landing onto a table grabbing her broom with a large grin. Scanning the room lightly winking at a few girls that she saw. Well she was never one to shy away from a pretty face. That was Miriam for you.

Stepping off the table not even caring about which one and plopping down holding her broom in her lap. Tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. Running her hand across her firebolt broom with a big grin on her face. Glancing up at the folks who were unfortunately sitting at the table too giving a wiry smile. " Hello " She replied softly going back to just getting some food.

Humming lightly to herself as she piled up some food onto her plate. Before glancing around to see if she noticed anybody she knew. It would be nice to not eat alone ya know. Kicking her feet lightly under the table out of boredom.

" Where is everyone?" She mumbled to herself taking a bite of a piece of bread. Letting out a soft sigh. It would be nice to have a fun conversation before any of the boring classes.

Nathan was sitting at the end of the Slytherin table. He picked up his fork and stabbed his last piece of egg. He washed it down with some orange juice and cleaned his area up. He had a few minutes to sit around and just watch what is going on around him. He watched everyone around him either talking, shoveling food in their mouths, or both at the same time.

Nathan just watched and thought to himself quietly. He wondered which of the new kids were Mudbloods. He knew himself that being a Pureblood meant you were basically royalty. His father and mother always told him to not be friends with Mudbloods but only with Purebloods. Though Nathan recently started noticing that his Pureblooded friends were rather boring.

All they ever do is read, talk only to each other, and sleep. He wanted to mingle with the other houses but he knew if he did, he'd lose all his other friends. There is a boy at the Gryffindor table that Nathan had been eyeballing since he sat down for breakfast. The boy had blue eyes and blonde hair. He was sitting with some people, talking away. Nathan thought about going up to him but he decided not to.

It came to absolutely no surprise to Anastasia that Viola had gotten herself into some form of trouble— but she wasn't often down like this after a prank. She listened to the little troublemaker, bracing her hands against the bench and leaning back to get a more natural viewpoint of her. The others seemed to have picked up on the fact that Anastasia was speaking to someone as covertly as possible and talked amongst each other to make the scene more natural. Ah, to have such understanding friends.

"Noted."
She responded, making sure to remember it so her own friends wouldn't be subjected to the same accidental prank as Viola did.
"What exactly was this... oopsie, anwyay? You make it more obvious that you did it by hiding, you know?"
Not that her prefects seemed to have noticed her at all. And no one in her own table was snitching. Pranksters never did let snitches get away without a revenge prank. It made it funnier, in Anastasia's personal opinion. Not that she'd say it out loud.

"A chocolate muffin for breakfast? At least eat some toast... or anything else that's an actual meal before that."
Anastasia reached forward to gather a plate of different types of food ranging from ham to some toast to a sliced boiled egg.
"There. You can get your muffin afterwards."
She handed the plate under so Viola could start her breakfast.

She swore she's heard her father say those exact words before. She really was turning into her father, huh?

Sylvie was still sitting just outside the Great Hall leaning back against the wall letting out a breath. This was turning to be quite a stressful year that had barely been started. Hugging her knees against her chest as she stared out into the empty hallway. A bit relieved that there had been no stragglers that could possibly recognize her and make fun of her. Not exactly how she wanted to begin the year. But it was much easier to avoid folks than deal with unwanted attention.

But nonetheless she was proud to be herself after that rather blunderous way of announcing it last year. Just honestly a bit nervous . As it was hard enough being a descendent of Snape. People just didn't like the ole potion master/headmaster and it was hard enough with his first name still being her middle name technically. Letting out a breath.

Hoping that everyone was already in the hall not wanting to deal. Except maybe one person.....

Professor Skyler Dupont

Professor of History of Magic

Skyler was sitting at the teacher's table quietly reading the paper and drinking some coffee. The one and only time during the day the professor wasn't super cheerful and upbeat. Well until He had his coffee that is. He barely looked up from the paper seeing the menagerie of stuff going on before him. He tucked a single strand behind his own ear.

" Well, this morning is starting off with a flying success....." He joked a bit nudging Sylvester lightly trying to get him to lighten up a bit.

Before picking up the cup of coffee and taking a sip of the coffee with a small shrug with a yawn. Blue eyes searching around for their daughter just out of habit before turning back to look at him after he saw him. " How many days in do you think in, that there will be a meeting regarding Fable? Seems to happen pretty early in the year. I still can't believe she is already 15 ...... Time really goes fast huh?" He replied before realizing he was rambling.

Giving a sheepish smile. " Sorry talking a lot this morning......Still a bit nervous I guess " He replied quietly adjusting his jacket with a soft sigh. Eyes flickering from blue to purple to red real quick before letting out a breath shaking his head eyes going back to blue.

" Hopefully the nerves go away over time "
