Camp Half-Blood
Campfire
Evening | Summer

Artemis had already set her moon high in the sky as campers filed their way to the campfire. Everyone was ready for the infamous sing-a-longs and smores. Alex was one of those campers, despite the reputation that hades kids don't care for social gatherings; much like their anti-social father. Alex took a seat on the stands, his hands in his pockets and a hood over his head. He felt the cool summer breeze tickling at him and it caused him to shiver. At least the campfire provided some sort of warmth. It was glowing a bright color showing the happiness of the campers present. He noticed that there was a seat closest to the fire, it was a bench really. He knew that's where the unclaimed children that were new to camp would sit. They would be finding out their heritage soon.

Chiron was near the fire gossiping with Amber the oracle, they seemed to be in a pleasant conversation. Then Chiron stepped forward his hooves scuffing against the stone on the ground. "If you've not been claimed sit down nearest to the fire!" he called throughout the commotion of campers socializing. Alex craned his neck up to listen and then his eyes darted back to the seat he was looking at. 'I wonder if I'll get any siblings...' he thought to himself. It would be interesting not to live in an empty cabin, though he had set it up however he liked and wasn't too fond of the idea on the other side.

He watched as campers who hadn't been claimed sat down. It seemed as though right on time symbols hovered over new camper's heads. They would get the announcement from Chiron and they would meet their siblings on their side of the stands. As usual, Aphrodite had the most children and claimed them in the most extra of ways. Though he saw no Hades children yet, he wasn't sure if he should be surprised or relieved.

Daea Nimitz
CampFire

Looking up at the moon Daea couldn't help but enjoy the feeling of there being so much moonlight. It illuminated everything and made her feel far more comfortable sitting outside. Yet the cool summer breeze made her shiver where she sat. Even bundled up as she was she still felt the cold pierce through her like a spear. Goosebumps rising on her skin she rubbed her hands together and seemed to be focusing on keeping herself warm. She looked up as Chiron spoke up, her hands no longer rubbing together. She watched the symbols dance around the unclaimed campers and wondered if she would be alone again. She enjoyed the quiet but also wanted someone else to bounce ideas off of, then again she did have everyone else around her.

Sliding off of where she was sitting she began to scoot herself across the stone floor and up next to the fire. As close as she was a normal person would feel uncomfortable but for Daea she finally felt her body warming up. The breeze was brutal and she couldn't stand the feeling any longer. "I hope this doesn't bother anyone. I cant deal with this breeze." Daea spoke up, unsure if she would be asked to take her previous seat. "I can move back though." She added praying internally that they wouldn't make her move. Though after thinking about it she slowly scooted herself a short distance back to where she was sitting originally. Now halfway between her seat and the fire she still felt warm enough not to be shivering yet didn't feel like she was breaking a tradition.

Pulling her arms into her jacket she then pulled her knees to her chest and pulled her jacket over them. Wiggling around she managing to get herself into a rather comfortable position before refocusing on what was happening around her. At this point she looked comfortable with her feet and head sticking out, only her eyes and top of her head were visible. "I didn't dress right for this. I made a grave mistake." She grumbled out, though her voice still cheery and audibly excited for what was happening. Situated and warm she slowly looked around at the others, seeing their faces made her feel even more warm. While she knew some of them she didn't know them all that well, something she was looking forward to changing.

Andrew Young
Campfire, surrounded by old and new faces

Digging his thumbnail into the other four, Andrew listened to the centaur speak, welcoming everyone and allowing the gods to claim their children, as they did every summer. Each year, a new Aphrodite kid would be claimed alongside several Apollo children. Seriously, did the guy not have ANYTHING else to do?

Aside from the bright orange light that was the campfire, there were lights of other shades popping up in a certain rhythm at the front of the crowd. Blue, orange, red, green, purple. Each one was shaped to represent the symbols of the Olympians.

"C'mon, c'mon, c'mon." He muttered to himself, scanning the sea of lights for any flower shapes, cornucopias, trees among the green lights. "Alright!" Andrew cheered when he saw one or two pop up. "Party in number four tonight!" The boy couldn't wait to show his new siblings exactly what they were capable of.

After saying this, he settled back down, dug his fingers into the dirt at his feet and watched a tiny weed crawl out from between his fingers and evolve into a golf ball sized bulb and then into a peach. Let's see if it's a good one this time. Andrew picked the fruit, raised it to his lips and bit into it almost like a piranha. "Ha! I did it!"

Luna Morris

Luna sat a further distance from the campfire more in the shadows than the others. She knew that her Cabin would again have no kids, her mother just didn't seem interested in mortal men like the goddesses of Olympus were. It was fine to be a Cabin of one, and in some small way it made Luna feel like she might matter more to her mother than other half bloods did to their parents. The campfire was thus for here little more than a chance to gaze at the stars and as always feel like her mother was watching her. The cold was no big deal Luna had taken to night strolls and had grown used to nights chill for a decent period of time, so she didn't wear any jackets or sweaters, just her t shirt and some jeans. Luna tried to filter out the boos and cheers as kids were picked and sent between Cabins. Still it was impossible to fully ignore all the noise and thus she had to pay a little attention just to see if anyone interesting came in.

Kayleigh Slater
Campfire

The gentle summer wind caressed Kayleigh's skin as she sat in the stands watching the flames flicker softly against the night sky. And despite all the excitement in the air, she felt nervousness creep up within. Normally she didn't get nervous about much of anything, but tonight she would be up, front and center with a few others. The way that she had arrived at camp left her with a bitter taste in her mouth. She had encountered a Basiik a way out from where she learned camp to be, receiving a bad bite on her hand that led to scarring. She had to be saved by a camper and spent a while unconscious fighting off the poison.

The sound of hooves against stone broke her from her thoughts and she looked up to see the centaur, Chiron, about to speak. She stood up after he did, and made her way towards the bench by the campfire. She was well aware of the eyes on her and the other people who stepped forward, so she took a deep breath and forced herself to relax, not wanting to give anyone the satisfaction of seeing her nervousness.

It wasn't much longer before she had been claimed. She'd overheard others speaking about it, but to witness it happening was startling. She looked left and right down the line of people seeing the various symbols appearing over her head, even a trident somewhere to her left. She looked up above her own head to see the symbol of an owl above her head. She wondered whether she should be happy about who her mother was, or disappointed. She would have to decide at another time.

Edeir LaVey, Campfire

Edeir was pissed.

Oh sure, the summer night was nice, slightly chilly, blah, blah, blah, but who even cared? The biggest crime in all of existence was taking place and no one was even batting an eye.

They were all sitting around, being forced against their will to have to welcome some stupid nobodies and act as though they were all excited about it. He knew this was a farce because when he’d been first introduced to his apparent brothers and sisters they acted as though he was interesting for all of five minutes before they started buzzing, “I wonder if we’ll get anyone else at the campfire tonight!”

Anyone else. As though he wasn’t enough. Fucking preposterous.

Worse yet, he apparently didn’t merit any sort of introduction because “you were claimed two years ago so you’re old hat and no one cares” as the horse man, Chiron had told him. Not in those exact words, but it might have well has been. So there Edeir was, sulking angrily, watching the camp ooh and ahh over the fresher meat getting claimed, having a little guide book on what the hell it means to be a demigod handed to them on a silver platter.

The blond was getting sick of the happy energy. He thought to maybe try slipping away, however he spotted an older looking girl with black hair seated far away from the fire. It looked as though she was disappearing into the shadows. Thinking he’d have to take it upon himself to get attention, he walked over to the teen and sat down next to her without asking.

Such a great night for a campfire. It’s so boring I could die. Edeir LaVey, cabin 10, and you are?”

Hektor Baal
Son of Zues
Missing for 2 years. Shroud burned.

The crest of Half Blood Hill had always been a welcome sight after a quest out into the world, the safety offered by the godly barrier offering relief to those scrambling away from the monsters who liked to ambush new demigods. Laying eyes on the magic barrier for the first time in over two years was nearly cathartic for Hektor Baal, the lost half blood who’d marched his best friends to their deaths.
A failure by his father’s standards, Hektor wasn’t sure how he would face Chiron or Dionysis with the news of Orra and Jasper’s deaths. Two worn camp bracelets with a variety of beads were tied snugly around Hektor’s left wrist, the closest he could manage to dragging their bodies home, still ashamed he’d never given them a proper burial.

Abandonment had never been in the cards, survival had pushed Hektor into dropping his ethics in the name of making it home. He was loyal but far from foolish enough to think they would resent him for wanting to live, he had at least left them payment for Charon, hoping both would achieve Elysium for their sacrifice and service to the Gods.
Frequent sacrifices and prayers had been the main reason Hektor had made it home in one piece, begging forgiveness from Ares and Iris, he was still left without the ability to send Iris messages as punishment.
A sea journey he’d never speak of again took place with some borrowed help that would certainly cost him in the long run. Every small quest he undertook on his mission back around the world had required more debts than he cared to admit, it was almost disturbing how close to loan sharks some of the Gods could be.

Worn boots carried him up to the top of the hill above the familiar valley where he finally laid eyes on the camp, gently lit by the high moon. The big house was the first thing he noticed, so much smaller than he’d remembered years before, many things had been, the growth spurt he’d gone through during his time abroad would be obvious to anyone who might recognize him through the stubble and torn traveling clothes. A healing split across the bridge of his nose remained from his unfortunate landing in Nantucket, an icy welcome from local monsters had nearly ended his disastrous journey. Instead, he’d managed to turn three bizarre mud creatures into dust after a vicious attack along the docks.

Turning his head slightly to look down at the young man walking with him, Hektor did his best to take a deep breath and force his tone to be calm and even. A chance meeting a few miles back had brought Hektor and the unclaimed demigod together, hearing the sounds of foliage snapping rapidly off to the left of the farm road he’d been following.
Every instinct had told him something large and nasty was tearing through the forest in hot pursuit of what could very likely be a demigod. Pausing as the noise grew closer and focusing on a break in the trees helped him spot a small form rushing ahead of the commotion and felt his stomach drop.
Hektor hadn’t realized he’d been running until he crashed through the treeline after the young man, sliding to an unsteady stop as the hideous form of a Drakaina whirled around to hiss at him.
Rage surged through Hektor once the beast turned to lunge at him, years of training and a burning need for survival had the son of Zeus raising his broken spear into the hair and summoning a white-hot blast of lightning, disintegrating the snake woman in a shower of sulfurous dust. An act that would both eliminate immediate danger and bring Hektor to his knees for a moment, winded by the huge drain on his system. Years without nectar and ambrosia had left him needing to recover in real-time, adrenaline providing enough of a bandaid to have him standing after a few moments.
The pair wouldn’t have enough time to become properly introduced, despite the show of power from Hektor, they had still been decent walk from guaranteed safety. Enough time for Hektor to give them a loose enough explanation of where they were going and just what had been chasing Blair back in the woods.

“You’re safe here, nothing can get through the barrier” Hektor said, his deep voice barely above a whisper as he allowed himself to relax. A campfire raged off to the right, reflecting different colors within the amphitheater to show the overall mood in the camp, fairly positive it would seem.
Seeing Blair dart off for a moment, Hektor watched the young man come rushing back with a heavy branch that filled him with immediate gratitude, too proud to search for one on the own but smart enough to accept the help.

“Thank you” Hektor said quickly, glad to have the first seemingly free help he’d been offered in years. Another wave of bitter feelings pushed through Hektor as he started down the hill, knowing Chiron would be among the campers, unwilling to speak to Mr. D first. Deep down he wanted the others to see he’d dragged the stupid hamer back across the ocean, he’d returned from the other side of the world where the gods powers seemed to stop.
Causing a scene hadn’t quite been at the forefront of his mind, though Hektor was short of clear thoughts or patience how that he was back within the safety of the camp.
Marching forward into the crowded amphitheatre, Hektor was greeted with dozens of new faces mixed in with the old. Realizing now he was quite literally arriving back on the first night of camp, he faltered in his steps as he watched a few demigods being claimed.

“Thats Chiron, activities director. He’ll take care of you” Hektor said, his voice flat now as he struggled to process the painful familiarity of the campfire. Still expecting to see Jasper and Orra sitting among the crowd, though he knew they were still laying graveless back on the island. Shaking away the intrusive thoughts, Hektor waited until Chiron had finished speaking before skirting the group to approach the centaur.

“Chiron” Hektor said, his voice brittle now, uncertain of what more he could do than pull the war hammer from his belt and hold the weapon up in what could easily be a plea for approval. The old centaur looked surprised but not overly shocked, understanding as there had been quite a few instances of missing demigods and children returning from the dead over the years.

“Hektor, where?-” Chiron began, stopping short when he saw the two camp necklaces wrapped around the son of Zeus’ wrist. Quickly looking up to lock his dark brown eyes onto Hektor’s own, littered with broken capillaries and truly completing the overall haunted appearance of Hektor.
It was clear neither wanted to discuss things in the open, Hektor was half hoping he hadn’t completely sold himself out by not waiting for Chiron up at the big house.
The weapon began glowing brightly as Hektor held it out, gently turning into a shower of golden light that floated upwards. No reward would follow this quest, Hektor had promised away any gratitude from Ares in exchange for survival on the route home. Though he wasn’t always sure the gods influence had been with him, he’d been offered more breaks than he’d thought possible during his exhausting travels across Africa.
Watching it completely vanish up into the heavens felt hollow, he’d been dragging the hammer around for two years and actually using it in a few more extreme situations, the power in it was far too much.

“I’m going to rest” Hektor said curtly, walking away from the centaur before he completely crumbled into nothing, certain his form wouldn’t even stay solid at this point. Desperate to get back to his cabin and actually lay down in a safe place, Hektor paused off long enough to grab some nectar and ambrosia before continuing on. Eating a square of ambrosia that offered nothing in the way of flavor, a hasty sip of nectar tasting like water. He wasn’t sure he deserved to be rewarded with how anticlimactic things had been after so much struggle, though he hadn’t burned up after eating his small ration. A warmth did begin pushing through his body once the food took hold, a burst of energy that carried him right back to his surprisingly empty cabin. Hektor had been certain Zeus hadn’t bent to Hera’s jealousy but the dusty cabin told him no one had been in, short of whomever had removed his things once he’d been assumed dead.
Sitting down on the bunk he’d used in years past, Hektor looked down at the two faded bracelets tied around his wrist and finally loosened them, wanting to return the beads to their respective cabins. It was important for those who had been close to Orra and Jasper to receive closure.

Giving in and laying back against the soft mattress, Hektor was far from ready to shut his eyes and pass out. He’d dreamed of coming home for years, even finding himself taunted by the odd dream of waking up back in his cabin, though strangely he would never be able to open the door. Intrusive thoughts running unchecked once more, Hektor sat up and realized he wasn’t going to be able to be alone with his thoughts just yet.
Hektor would quickly learn to be careful what he wished for as a bright red light startled him backwards, the form of Ares violently manifesting a few feet from Hektor.

“You paid the ferryman”

The voice pressed in on his senses and nearly buckled the demigod, Hektor could only nod as he grit his teeth. Slowly the pressure released leaving Hektor feeling entirely too mortal if a voice could subdue him, quickly he reminded himself the God could have lashed out or refused him.

“Your debt is clear” The god said, spinning the retrieved hammer in one hand, vanishing into smoke and leaving Hektor to really grasp the statement. A cleared debt from Ares was almost too good to believe, certain the war god would have kept him anxious for kicks. Mercy had never been one of his strong suits and Hektor greatly doubted the god would remember forgiving his debt. He was firmly on the radar of the Olympians now, quite aware the confines of the camp wouldn’t serve to protect him for any impending quests sent his way.
Taking a shaky breath once he was certain the cabin was empty once more, a quick search of the room reminded him his things were likely long since thrown out or stored up at the big house. At least he’d be able to visit the camp store in the morning and gather some essentials, the few items still jammed into his backpack were old, worn and likely frowned upon within the camp borders.

Blair could feel his heart racing faster with every crunch or snap of twigs as him and the man he had met earlier moved quickly along the path. He had introduced himself as Hektor. Hektor was pretty cool. He was also a demigod on his way to Camp Half-Blood. What are the odds of that? That was about all he knew… Blair had a million questions he asked, but just to name a few:

“What’s camp Half-Blood like?”

“Busy, you're going to be a little overwhelmed but pay attention in your training.”

“Will they have dinner ready when we get there?”

“They'll feed you. The plates are magic, it's pretty cool.”

“If you’re a demigod, who’s your mom or dad?”

“Zeus.”

“Do they serve mac and cheese?”

“They serve just about anything you want. Everything is pretty lean so don't expect anything too fun and fattening.”

Every instinct had told him something large and nasty was tearing through the forest in hot pursuit of what could very likely be a demigod. Pausing as the noise grew closer and focusing on a break in the trees helped him spot a small form rushing ahead of the commotion and felt his stomach drop.

The only thing that stopped him from rapid firing his gob is that it assumed since they were being pursued by a monster it wouldn’t be a good time. Since he got to the so called ‘Maine-land’ A woman had been stalking him. At first he thought she wanted something from him, but after deciding to ask he realized she wanted his life. That wasn’t something he was willing to part with just yet so he ran. Fast forward a week or two and he was still trying to shake her. On his last leg of the journey he got a bit turned around, but because of it, he ran into Hektor.

Hektor hadn’t realized he’d been running until he crashed through the treeline after the young man, sliding to an unsteady stop as the hideous form of a Drakaina whirled around to hiss at him.

Blair could feel his heart lunge into his throat when he saw the all too familiar form of the Drakaina appear in front of them. His hands fumbled for his spear on his back until he saw Hector react much faster than humanly possible to her monstrous form. The older teen raised his broken weapon skyward.

Rage surged through Hektor once the beast turned to lunge at him, years of training and a burning need for survival had the son of Zeus raising his broken spear into the hair and summoning a white hot blast of lightning, disintegrating the snake woman in a shower of sulfurous dust. An act that would both eliminate immediate danger and bring Hektor to his knees for a moment, winded by the huge drain on his system. Years without nectar and ambrosia had left him needing to recover in real time, adrenaline providing enough of a bandaid to have him standing after a few moments.

BOOM

The clearing lit up like Times Square for not even a second and was followed by a loud clap of thunder. Blair was blinded and made deaf as he instinctively raised his hands to his ears. By the time he had covered them the sound was long gone, leaving only a slight ringing that quickly subsided. All he could do was stare in awe at him and think, ‘I think his dad might really be Zeus.’

The pair wouldn’t have enough time to become properly introduced, despite the show of power from Hektor, they had still been decent walk from guaranteed safety. Enough time for Hektor to give them a loose enough explanation of where they were going and just what had been chasing Blair back in the woods.

-----------------------------------------------

Now he just had more questions.

The two were worse for wear but Blair was mostly concerned about Hektor. As he had thought, Hektor was pretty cool, but even cool guys had their limits. He could tell he was doing his best to keep going strong. As they were just about to cross the property line Blair darted off and grabbed a large, gnarled branch. “Here!” Blair yelled as he ran back to Hektor, “This might help.” He wished he could do more but he didn’t have anything useful on him other than his spear and his Mythomagic collection, but that last part was extremely subjective.

As Blair and Hektor came to campfire he could feel everyone staring at them, or rather, staring at Hektor. There was a lot of shouting and pointing. He could hear one of the campers yell, “Your alive?!” in a tone that suggested they were either relieved or disappointed. He really wished he knew which.

The campers began to get more rowdy as a… centaur approached them (maybe is was Chiron? He had his card in Mythomagic). Hecktor confirmed this for him before the two had a short conversation. Blair could feel his stomach twisting into all sorts of anxious knots from being apart of something he felt like he had no reason to be. He decided to duck away and stand somewhat away from everyone behind the benches, not realizing he should have been sitting with the other unclaimed campers. He saw a girl with black hair somewhat near him away from the hubbub too. He raised his hand to wave at her but he decided against it last minute, instead running his hand through his crazed hair (courtesy of Hektor’s light show earlier).

He looked around at everyone, trying to calm his nerves. Despite them all being demigods, they looked pretty normal. A few stood out to him that had unnaturally stunning looks (which he quickly ignored when they started laughing at him for staring), but mostly everyone else he couldn’t tell who their mom or dad was. Some of the campers had gusts of wind turning them beautiful (or rather, more beautiful) or a grey owl appearing above their head like fireworks. Was that how claiming worked? He thought maybe the gods, or rather a god, would actually appear and be like, “Blair. I am your father.” But maybe they were too busy. What if he had a sickle or something appear above his head? Did it mean he was a communist? Did they have pamphlet guide that told you?

Blair was honestly at a loss for who his dad could be. He didn’t think anything about him screamed exceptional, unless he was just exceptionally unexceptional. Was there a god for that? A large part of him wondered if he even belonged here to begin with. What if all was a huge misunderstanding and he was just a normie that knew too much? What would they do to him? He could vividly imagine everyone suddenly turning and putting on stylish black sunglasses as someone pulled out one of the Neuralyzers from Men in Black and said, “Nice try, Slick. But not slick enough” in a perfect Will Smith impersonation before zapping his memory. That wouldn’t be too bad if they just returned him home and everything he saw just seemed like a really weird dream.

But what if they didn’t? What if he became an amnesiac hobo in New York City-

Blair pinched himself. Now was not the time for his ADHD. He forced himself to pay attention to what was happening, despite the fact his mind kept wanting to drift back into fighting stray cats for a moldy half-eaten sandwich.

He saw a blue-greenish glow radiate onto the people around him. Strangely enough was slightly warped as if the light was coming through water. A couple campers turned around and started staring at him with astonishment. He was starting to feel the knots in his stomach again when he realized they were actually looking above him. A slight improvement. He looked above and saw a trident gleaming as it slowly dissipated. Blair looked back down at the other campers, giving a slight unsure smile. He knew a trident was the symbol of Poseidon but maybe it was a mistake? They quickly turned away and began to whisper to themselves.

This was fine.

Luna was surprised when anyone came up to her as well it was almost an unspoken rule to stick with your cabin. it was a kind of annoying thing that kept so many from mixing in a casual manner especially during meals where the most chatting could be done. Well it wasn't like there was any point in Luna defending that rule she was an only child as Nyx so rarely bothered to interact with mortals and most didn't survive the encounter when she did. Luna could say the same of those like the big three as they rarely had kids, well kids that made it here as Luna was convinced Zeus and Poseidon had more kids than were present. It was generally only Hades that kept it in his pants and even that wasn't absolute which actually soured a lot of the old myths about him and his wife for Luna. Still that had little do to with now as a child of Aphrodite came over. Now there was a goddess that had a lot of affairs, so many she tended to have the most incoming kids, though rarely others beat her out. So why someone with so many new siblings to meet would come over to someone who was in truth a complete oddity was beyond her. Still Luna would at least be polite as her mother didn't really have any grudges so the camp tended to be neutral towards her and thus this likely wasn't some complex plot one could expect from a social butterfly of the 10th cabin.

" Luna Morris Cabin 21 Nyx" she explained throing in who her mother was as many tended to forget cabins after the 20th.

Ria Ramirez
Ria was a bit late to the campfire. She was testing out a spell before this… and let’s just say Cabin 20 now needs a new coffee table. Many demigods were already singing songs and enjoying themselves as Ria arrived. Trying not to be too obvious, she walked relatively quickly past everyone to make her way up the steps, but before she could, she tripped over something huddled up on the floor.

Ria dropped like a sack of potatoes and looked back at the red-headed girl curled up on the floor with burning eyes. It took a second before it registered that she just walked into Daea, the Hephaestus girl she was supposed to be showing around. Trying to cover up the fall, Ria resituated herself so that she sat next to Daea on the floor. “What in Hades are you doing down here?” she questioned with a furrowed brow.

She noticed that campers began making a commotion when a worn Hektor came into camp. "What in Zeus’s name? Is that Hektor? Praise the gods he’s still alive, but where were the other two?" Ria knew Hektor and the trio when she first came to camp 4 years ago. They were the heroes of camp back then and always seemed to be on some kind of quest. But something didn’t feel right in her stomach now as she saw him exchange words with Chiron and head towards the cabins. But despite this uneasy feeling, Ria refocused on her attention on Daea and the newly claimed demigods.

Blair froze. Not really like a graceful, majestic deer in headlights. More like a possum caught in someone’s trash can. He turned around to see there was some 6’1” roguishly handsome (or perhaps handsomely roguish) guy behind him she could have been referring to instead but it was just darkness. Maybe there was indeed someone else but his eyes weren’t adjusted in the slightest.

Blair turned back to the girl standing by campfire, “Yes, I am a kid of Poseidon-“ He stopped himself, very aware of how stupid that sounded. He walked over to her, lightly scratching his cheek. Shouting over a distance was even stupider, not to mention rude.

“I’m sorry; this is all really new to me.” He reached out his hand to the blonde girl, giving a warm smile “I’m Blair, Blair Howard. Also as in the Blair Witch Project. My mom’s a really big fan of the movie. What’s your name?”

He studied her, wondering who her parent was. She looked nice so he didn’t think it was one of the darker gods, unless she was very good at causing misconceptions.

Talking to Ria- iZie_b00 iZie_b00

Rocking back and forth in tune with the campers singing she couldn't help but hum it under her own breath. With the new campers having been claimed Daea took the opportunity to get even closer to the fire. Her time scooting however ended up putting her unknowingly into the path of a walking Ria. Feeling something impact her side Daea let out a "Ermph" as she felt someone cascade over her before seeing Ria take a seat next to her. The feeling boggled Daea for a moment as she wondered if Ria fell against her or was just trying to get her attention while sitting down. Her mind went to Ria taking a seat next to her rather than thinking the girl walked into her. "Hey Ria." Daea said with a smile as she pulled her jacket down to make it easier for the other girl to hear her.

"Its cold out, I never do that well in the cold. I didn't think it would be as breezy as it was and I didn't want to just get up and leave." Daea said with a smile as she pushed her arms out and back into her jacket sleeves. She seemed to be focused on Ria up until the commotion started. Looking over to the two walking into the camp she stared for a long moment before looking to Ria as she spoke up, partially answering the questions she had in her head. "Whos Hektor? I never saw him around before... Other two? If they aren't there that means they probably aren't coming back." Daea said realizing she was rather cold in her assessment "Sorry, I do hope they come back Ria." Daea spoke up.

Her eyes followed Hektor as he walked through the camp, trying to gather what she could from the persons gait. "He looks worn down... I mean, I cant imagine him being all that well. When did they leave? Why did they leave?" Daea began to ask as she turned her attention back to Ria. "You seem a little uneasy. Is this something bad?" She continued on before realizing she was starting to ask too many questions.

The cold night air felt amazing on the teen's warm skin. He was sitting by the campfire and making small talk with those around him. It was an amazing night, one that Jeremy would remember for a long time. He'd been at camp for years now and hadn't really made many friends. Hard to make friends when you were always sleeping. Everyone seemed to be in good moods and was having a great time. Then the earthquake started.

What else could it be other than an earthquake? The ground started shaking violently. Jeremy would have stood up and started running but he would have fallen flat on his face. People started screaming. What was going on? Things went from bad to worse quickly. The ground itself cracked open. It was as if Hades itself was opening up to swallow all of them. A dark red light spilled from the crack. People finally made it to their feet and began running in various directions. Away from the gigantic split in the earth. The red light felt like it was consuming everything else around it. A dark red liquid then bubbled up from the cracks, spilling out over the ground.

The shaking got worse. This was it. This was how they were all going to die. Just when it seemed like the rumbling couldn't get any worse without the planet exploding something began rising out of the crack. It was massive. Bigger than anything he'd ever seen. Monolithic. If this was a monster they were surely all dead. It blocked out the moon and cast a shadow across the entire camp. Jeremy looked up at the thing in terror. It was easily fifty feet tall. The shaking finally stopped. Jeremy stood to his feet and nearly ran when he looked at the object one more time. It was brown and...Flaky? "Wait..." The son of Hypnos looked down to the liquid that had come up. Not lava. It was...Sauce? He squinted his eyes while looking up at the object. "It's...A mozzarella stick!" The fried cheese began tumbling forward. Jeremy had no chance, nowhere to run. He would be crushed. "Come to think of it...I'm kind of hungry."

The camper woke with a yelp. He had been sleeping on one of the benches but had shifted in his sleep and fallen off. Thankfully his face broke the fall and he groaned loudly. The groan was soon followed by a loud growling from his stomach. "Gh...Do they have any food here?" Jeremy pushed himself off the ground and dusted himself off. His body had become quite resilient over the years to his shenanigans. It was pretty normal for him to get a few scrapes and bumps from falling asleep. The teen was wearing a simple black t shirt and jeans. He loved the cool weather and seemed to never wear a sweater. When he was asleep his body heated up anyway.

The teen's eyes scanned the people around him. No one he recognized. How did he even get here? It was all hazy. Man he was tired, too. Jeremy stretched his back and raised his fists above his head as a loud yawn erupted from him. He briefly thought about just going back to sleep but his stomach growled in disagreement. 'Alright. Food first, then I'm going back to sleep.' The teen looked around once more and laid his eyes on two people that seemed like they might have food. Really they were just the closest to him but he had a hunch about these things.

The pair was a blonde haired girl and another guy with nearly as much hair as him. Jeremy didn't stop to think if he would be interrupting their conversation or that they didn't even know who he was. His stomach was telling him where to go. The search of food, that was all that mattered. He walked up right next to the both of them and asked "Do either of you have any food on you?"

"Nyx. Night goddess or something, right? I can tell she's not the goddess of conversation, that's for sure." Luna seemed aloof; and aloof wasn't that kind of disposition that allowed people to make friends. He was slightly regretting he decided to make nice with the social outcast, especially when there was some drama going on with some older, kind of handsome looking guy and some scrawny, newly claimed kid of Poseidon. It was hard to hear the details since the gossip wasn't carrying to the fringes of the campfire.

He figured Luna looked about the same age as the older guy that ducked away and thought she might be able to fill him in where eavesdropping failed. "Do you know anything about brunette and brooding? Friends maybe?"

Luna chuckled " Protogenos actually they came from Chaos before the titans and gods" Luna explained there was a bit of pride in her voice as she spoke of those she was related to despite them all being horrors that drove people mad with a look if they wanted. Still it was something to be very different from the others still she was a bit cautious as it seemed that Edir might be looking to start some gossip or something.

Luna actually had to think on who the guy Edir was referring to was, so many faces came and went from the camp and she tended to just stay summers so she would forget those she wasn't super close to. Still after a moment of thinking something clicked a name and face fell into place and a goodbye. Still she did wonder what made Edir think they might be friends maybe he mistook her enjoyment of her mother's night to brooding. Still judging by the fact Hektor was alone Luna could guess things were not good.

" His name is Hektor a son of Zeus, i forgot him because he and his companions were gone for 2 years. Judging from them being missing something bad happened" Luna said with a sigh death was all to common on quests " It happens all to often on quests that someone doesn't come back, so i guess he has a right to brood" She finished with a shrug " i don't really know him i have just been her for awhile it is nice to get away from cities and such i can really see my mother's night " She finished trying in a way to explain her distance and immersion in darkness, though to her it wasn't dark she could see just fine even in pitch black.

He was walking over to her?! She was already pretty hyped up on campfire song adrenaline and didn't know what else to expect, but she couldn't help but feel excited when the new kid with a cute smile headed her way.

Bonnie wrinkled her nose in a smile of her own. “Heya Blair, Blair Howard. Never seen the movie before in my life. Maybe we can watch it later,” she said with a wink, more playfully than flirtatiously. “I’m Bonnie Kaplan.” Her free hand ignored Blair's extended one and instead moved upward to pat down his slightly frazzled hair. Bonnie was never one for formalities. “I’m a daughter of Ap--”

She was interrupted when the guy who was literally a foot taller than Bonnie came up to them and asked for food. He was tall, but attractive in that sleepy way when you first wake up- the way they only do in movies... Gods, she love-hated how everyone looked so damn hot at this camp.

“Urm… No food-food at the moment” She rustled in her pockets before holding up a few golden cubes. “I have some ambrosia. Though you probably shouldn’t eat it unless you’re injured. Risk of dying and all that- especially if you eat too much.” Bonnie proudly smiled. These were one of the few things where she knew exactly what she was talking about.

Ria Ramirez
Ria caught herself unconsciously biting the bed of her thumb in thought. She very badly wanted to know the ins and outs of all the camp gossip... for educational purposes of course. Perhaps she might be able to coax some information out of her mother when she got back to the cabin. It was a miracle that Hektor came back alive. Sort of. Ria was still trying to convince herself he wasn’t a ghost. But Daea was probably spot on about the other's unfortunate fates. That was the most depressing fact of being a half-blood. You had a short lifespan.

Daea’s questions weren’t helping with Ria’s state either. They mildly irritated her, but she couldn’t blame her. She herself would’ve been highly curious as well, so Ria gave her the condensed version. “He’s Zeus’s son. He and two others went on some quest two years ago and no one’s heard from them since. Everyone assumed they died.”

Old, blurry memories of the trio in camp flashed in her mind before Ria refocused her eyes on the flickering flames, trying to block out the thought of their deaths.
“Nothing too bad. Probably… I do hope they bring some smores out soon… Or start a game of Capture the Flag. Those are fun every now and then.” Ria’s demeanor perked up at the thought of smores. Mmm… Delicious chewiness covered in chocolate. Her mouth was watering.

As Bonnie Winked the smile slipped away from his face as an air siren started to go off in his head. He didn’t hear her introduce herself because his mind was just kept repeating, “WARNING. GIRL. CUTE GIRL. GIRL MIGHT LIKE YOU??” When she patted his head instead of shaking his hand his mind quickened in its mantra, “WNBAIUHNGKNJHGFCI.CUTJEGURIKLS.YGS64ILJNFMITHFLIKE,NYOU?:/” Blair could feel his face becoming as hot as the campfire, and probably the same color.

“Do either of you have any food on you?”

Blair jumped, not expecting anyone else to join the conversation. He felt as if he’d been caught doing something shady or secretive. Was talking to… this girl (he’d have to try to figure out her name later, it’d be too awkward to ask) shady? He needed to get it together. He just got here and he was already a mess. At the very least maybe the guy that had approached them could be the perfect way to calm himself down.

The new guy in their conversation looked tired (wow, very descriptive). Who would his godly parent be? Blair had just gotten introduced to the game of ‘Guess their Godly Parent!' and he sucked at it. Instead of continuing to stare at the poor guy in confusion, he listened to what the blonde girl (maybe her name was Debora?) had to say. Blair’s eyebrows furrowed when she mentioned Ambrosia; definitely wanting to ask more about that later.

“Um,” Blair cracked out, his voice much higher than usual. He cleared his throat before continuing, “I mean, sorry I don’t have any on me. Maybe we could help you look?” Come to think of it, he was rather hungry himself. He’d completely forgotten about it in the middle of all the excitement. His eyes were already scanning the campers, seeing if any of them might have some smores or by chance even steak and marshmallows (his personal favorite campfire treat) but everyone seemed pretty empty handed, until he saw another man sitting in the dirt with what he thought was a round sweet potato? It could have been a rock too, but he couldn’t tell with the lighting.

“I think that guy has something,” Blair announced, squinting at brunette, “Not sure what it is, but maybe it’s edible?”

The night went on, as usual, the campfire had songs, smores and the morale of the camp seemed high. Soon the fire faded and the horn sounded for bed. All was normal in Camp Half-Blood and the new campers were adjusting to their new life.

-Two Weeks Later-

Alex felt a strange feeling in his gut, his father wasn't answering his Iris Messages and his dreams seemed to filled with chaos and sadness. He wasn't sure what was going on and he wasn't sure that he liked it too much either. Sighing as he got out of bed he set to brushing his hair and teeth, getting ready for the day. He walked out the front door and grit his teeth at the sunlight. It was dark in the Hades cabin and the sight of light shining right in his face harmed his fragile senses. He laughed at that, fragile senses. His stomach growled and he headed closer to the Pavilion for breakfast.

Something seemed off in the air even in camp and it weighed down on Alex like the summer humidity.

He walked over to the Hades table and sat down, soon his food was brought out to him. Pancakes, fruit, and lean bacon. He stood up and sacrificed a slice of bacon and a whole pancake to the fire. "To the gods, and my father, Hades, just answer my calls once, I know you're busy though." he sighed. Sitting back down he started to eat.

Chiron came into the pavilion in his wheelchair and parked at the head table. He had a bit of a glint in his eyes. Alex wondered what the teacher had to say and what was going on in his mind. His mind wandered back to his brother, wondering how his quest was going and if he was going to sit alone at this table forever.

Chiron cleared his voice, "Once every camper has situated, I have an announcement to make." his voice washed across the pavilion.

Finn was sitting down on the beach, watching the sun rise, the colors of the sky glittering as the stars began to disappear. He had a meal set out in front of him, well not so much as a meal but a toasted ham sandwich and an apple he picked up from a shelter nearby. His quest was over, and he was almost back to camp. The quest he went on was a pretty simple one, it seemed, but in reality finding a hellhound that's terrorizing a town a few states off. Because of his lack of motivation to do much, however, he never got his drivers license and had to deal with late busses and trains a lot. And, of course, he wasn't given any money so he had to scrape pennies from the floor of the arcades and casinos.

He bit into the sandwich, and winced. His tooth ached as he bit into the hard bread of the sandwich. Whatever, he continued eating, bearing through the pain. He kind of missed his brother. They aren't quite close yet, but they do have that brotherly relationship already. He has trust issues, so it's a little hard letting him in. As he finished his food, the bottom tip of the sun was already showing, and the beautiful colors of the sky started to fade blue. He grabbed his back and threw it over him, and walked the remaining couple of miles to camp. When he arrived, he avoided eye contact with passing campers and went to the pavilion. He headed to the table, and sat next to Alex. "'Sup mate?" He asked, smiling. He wasn't brought any food, just a goblet with coffee in it. He sipped away, waiting for an answer.

Daea Nimitz

Rolling back and forth in her bed Daea had managed to go the entire night without waking up. Though when morning finally came she found herself on the floor of her cabin, curled up tightly like a sausage in her blankets. Rolling on the floor she pushed her arms out and let out a long yawn as she stretched, arching her back before pushing herself up and onto her feet. Looking at the mass of blankets trailing off her bed she gathered them up before pushing them back onto her bed. Getting dressed and making sure her hair wasn't sticking out everywhere Daea pushed open the door to her cabin.

The rush of cool morning air hit her but having been prepared for it she didn't wince at all. Going over and joining the others at the table she plopped down and waited as food was brought to her. The pancakes, bacon, sausage and other goodies immediately hit her nose making her take a deep breath "I love breakfast." Daea spoke up looking to Alex and Finn. Picking up her fork she immediately set to eating the food. She ate rather quickly yet didn't create any bit of a mess. When she finished she turned her attention to her hot chocolate and began to sip on it, cupping the warm glass in her hands. "Oh, morning also." she chirped out before hearing Chiron speaking up. Turning her attention towards him she sat her hot chocolate back down on the table.

Jeremy never heard anything that was said after blondie pulled out the cubes. Before she could tell him that it would be a bad idea he plucked them out of her hand and popped them into his mouth. He smiled happily at the taste and then yawned loudly. "Mm...Thanks. You guys are nice. I'm gonna go sleep." The teen turned to make his way down the hill and walk back towards his cabin. He never made it. The sleepyhead clonked out of consciousness while descending the hill and rolled all the way down to the bottom without waking up. The people that knew of Jeremy knew it was best to just leave him where he lie and ignore him. He would eventually wake up. Probably.

____

The weeks passed by rather quickly. Jeremy spent the majority of his time sleeping as usual. He hopped from dream to dream when he got bored at night but for the most part he was content just doing random things in his dreams. Truthfully it was scary how much the son of Hypnos knew about some of the campers. You learned a lot about people by just silently watching their dreams go by. What they're afraid of, who they're crushing on, he knew many things that could terrify people.

The morning light creeping into the cabin illuminated the pillow. And Jeremy's feet. It was a weird tic of his that he somehow always managed to turn himself 180 degrees around and rest his head where his feet should be. This also meant that he was closer to the sun. That wasn't what woke him up though. The usual alarm is what made the sleepyhead rouse from the bed. His stomach growling violently. The teen groaned and tried to fight it but knew it was a losing battle. He sat up in his bed and stretched causing him to yawn. "Alright, alright I hear ya. We'll go grab some breakfast but then I am coming right back here and..." His voice started to trail off and he had laid back down. His stomach gurgled again and he groaned, making his way to the dining pavilion.

Jeremy preferred to get his own plate at meals. The other people never put enough on his. He piled it high with scrambled eggs, smoked sausage, regular sausage, pancakes, waffles, pretty much everything. The son of Hypnos never offered food to his father, no doubt he was asleep anyway. "Wish I was asleep right now..." The sleepyhead sat down at his designated bench. Cabin of one. Seems like dad wasn't getting out much anymore. The teen began eating his food when his head got impossibly heavy. Perhaps it was his father taking revenge for not making an offering.

Either way Jeremy had fallen asleep and was now face first in his eggs, drowning in them.

As usual, Scarlett was seated at the Muses table with her guitar, her fingers strumming the strings as she played music for the kids surrounding her. She had already finished her breakfast and now was practicing telling a new tale about pirates and adventures. She took after her mother, that was for certain. Her imagination ran wild with stories of brave adventurers, beasts of legend, and testing if love could really conquer all. A smile curled on her lips as the song ended and she was praised by the children nearby though none of them were seated at her table. The Muses were very picky about their chosen lovers, so there were few children who were born of their union.

Looking around, she noted a boy that was seated by himself at the table for Hades house. A smile curled on her lips as she gave him a wave, her smile turning into a welcoming grin. The redhead hated being alone, so she could only imagine how it must have felt for the poor kid. She glanced around then shook her head. "Hey, you should join me for the little gig I'm throwing by the lake later tonight," she offered before turning her attention to Chiron. Blue eyes focused on him, and she leaned forward on her guitar. What could this announcement be, she wondered.

The first few nights home had been a struggle at best with Hektor barely able to sleep or settle despite consistently waking up in the empty cabin. After the third consecutive break in curfew and a less than pleasant argument between the only recently returned son of Zeus, he was more or less informed he would be staying in the big house for a few days to ensure he was stable enough to be around his fellow campers.
A few days felt like nothing compared to the long months Hektor had spent traveling alone, still preferring to eat by himself and generally avoid any interaction. Guilt had chosen to keep its comfortable place in his mind, constantly reminding him of his failure when he’d pass by the Ares or Iris cabins. Something about the camp felt wrong, nectar and ambrosia still tasteless and stale each time he consumed it.

Two weeks of going through the motions and barely interacting with anyone short of a few uncomfortable conversations that could be easily compared to an interrogation. Hektor was growing tired of going over the details of everything he’d been through during his time away. Unable to shake the bitter feelings of abandonment from the Olympians, Hektor didn’t feel any of the core details of his journey were overly necessary to share. At least the rest of the campers had given him his space, perhaps more out of disinterest than concern.

Planting himself down at the edge of the pavilion Hektor had bit into an apple and watched the rest of the group move around and interact. Knowing his distaste for the way life seemed to move on without Jasper and Orra wouldn’t be shared, he’d spent the better part of the last two weeks internalizing his outrage with the Gods. Really he could only focus on the few things he was actually able to fix, like his broken weapon and lack of worldly possessions. The camp store had indeed helped him gather a few essentials, his things found stashed away in storage among a few boxes belonging to other lost campers.
At least he wouldn’t be forced to burn shrouds or speak, knowing his own had been burned along with his friends over a year ago.

The first order of pulling himself together seemed to be the finding someone at the Hephaestus table who could fix magical weapons, certainly, anyone in the cabin would be far more capable when it came to the forge. Smithing had never been his strong suit, he’d been lucky his weapon had remained usable despite being snapped.
Once the announcements had been made and the day was actually underway, he’d head down to the forges to try his luck.

That damn alarm clock. And to think he could still be wrapped up in his dream about the harvest festival his grandparents would take him to every year. "Gods of Olympus!" He glared haughtily at his alarm clock before slamming his fist down on it and throwing on a black tank top and blue jean shorts, not putting too much effort into his appearance. Mumbling a series of swears, Andrew trudged his way up to the dining pavilion just in time for Chiron's speech. "A pleasure as always, sir." As he passed the Hypnos table on his way to his own, Andrew noticed a friend working on new moisturizer as far as Andrew could tell. "Hey, J." He walked up behind Jeremy and grasped his shoulders firmly, leaning down in his pal's ear. "Hey, Sleeping Beauty, loving the new look, but the breakfast table ain't the place." Gently, Andrew shook Jeremy. "It works better in your face, not on it. " Andrew knew it was useless to even attempt this, but the kid looked so...sad like this. Giving his friend a chance, Andy grabbed his own plate and piled it full with blueberry pancakes and a slice of ham before trudging up to the fire and offering most of his pancakes to his mom.

With her own plate piled high with chocolate chip pancakes, Monique swiped three juicy pieces of bacon into the fire before sauntering over to her table and digging into her breakfast and thinking to herself. Capture the Flag. Dammit. Another way to totally lose control with this bloodbending crap, Dad. Thanks for warning me ahead of time. In truth, Monique hated this ability, but she knew it was useful and she needed to master it...if it would keep her friends safe in battle. "Bonnie, where are you? I need you to talk me down, kid." Her little sister could always chill her out, talk her down, make sure she was good to go. What if she couldn't control it? What if she actually hurt someone by using it? Nikki's hands began to tremble as she ate, her anxiety almost hitting a high point, but she HAD to calm down. "Be cool. Be cool." She told herself, balling her fists on her shirt. Yeah. She could do this! She was ready! "I got this. Just gotta stay focused."

Luna woke to her alarm going off, without any siblings it could be hard to wake up on time if you stayed up late. Luna was one of those that did so , she tried to get to sleep in time, but she just couldn't. Really if Luna had a choice she would likely just pick to exchange nights for days, but then she would be alone in the camp, really people were missing out in her opinion. Still when the alarm range, despite being groggy Luna woke up. The Nyx cabin had been build just for her and showed how rarely they expected any Nyx children as rather and being a normal cabin with a common area and sleeping areas Luna compared it more to an apartment. It had a large circular living room with a large dome on top that was held up by dark grey granite. The dome itself provided the only light which to others would be dim as it replicated a moonless night filled with stars. The floor was covered with a thick soft carpet that while might look black was in fact a deep blue with threads of silver that glinted to Luna create a sky above and blow. Around the room there were large pillow, blankets, and a few chairs to sit and lay. Luna room was similar though it hard more personal items and a large queen sized bed. The cabin actually lacked any windows at least from the inside as there were some on the outside yet they didn't show what was happening inside. The cabin like many also held it's own bathing area which was more like a pool than a simple bath, the water somehow always warm and it too was dimly lit and made of the dark grey stone. Luna assumed most other cabins had large baths as well, mostly as they had more campers. In truth with Luna approaching her 18th year she had come to realize she would miss this place it was a second home and far better than any apartment. The cabin also had a kitchenette just a small place to make some snack instead of real meals which would require the normal sacrifice to the gods. Luna would bathe and get dressed before going out to eat not worried about missing out as magic would make sure there was enough food for everyone.

Luna would arrive a little latter than others to the pavilion looking over those assembled at their tables a semi rigid system of only dining with your cabin lest you slight your god was an unwritten rule. There were those that did break it, but they were few and far between and from the less jealous of the gods. Luna would go and get her meal several waffles before tossing one into the fire and going down to her table. The Nyx table was barely like the others, mostly because there was just her and Nyx rarely demanded the honors the big three might. Her table was just a small round one that you might find anywhere in the world, instead of a long marble affair that could hold a multitude of campers. The Table in truth looked like someone had run to a hardware store and bought a patio table it even included an umbrella in the center with only made the look more complete. Luna had been told why it had one as when they had been making the table for Nyx they had been unsure of how a child of night would react to being in day now that their powers were awakening. while Luna had not changed that much she had noticed some changes to have her dislike direct sunlight so it was a welcome addition. So with the rule sin place and Luna wanting to stay out of the sun she started eating used to being alone at meals.
