The plot of this roleplay will follow the twelve Children of Project Minor Inherit. The project began before they were even born, with their birth-givers subjected to experimentation and treatment that resulted in their abilities. The plot will essentially involve them fighting the other 11 Arcana after a brief training period (emphasis on brief). In essence, they are responsible for saving the world.

In the 22nd Century, biomedical engineering has led to the development of a host of bionic limbs and some organs. Most diseases have been resolved or cured, though outbreaks are common as vaccination rates remain surprisingly low (despite threat of legal consequences).

Social media and technology that can access the Internet still exist in this future. Holographs are more common, used in place of projectors and many desktop screens. Retina implants are becoming more popular, though only people who can afford the implant surgery are able to own them. Generally, most people own some form of a smart-link watch, which operates much like the 2022 smart watch or cellphone. however, it can project holographs and make for on-the-go computer use fairly easy.

The Internet is a controlled environment, though finally ad-free. It is a resource, as opposed to a catch-all for anything online. It is filled with 1,000s of databases containing mostly accurate, peer-reviewed evidence, statistics, and other sources. There are databases for music, art, science, mathematics, etc. However, ther are still entertainment sites such as social media, news outlets, etc. This is called the Web. Both the Web and the Internet are accessed interchangeably, as they are essentially the same thing but serve as different catch-alls for different subjects.

Prior to the first Arcana attack, most governments still operated on a national level, though international relations had improved immensely over the past century or so. The United Nations went through a redesign, of sorts, and became a more fair governing body with its own set of laws and ways of electing officials. All countries, big and small, were represented by the U.N. and while not everyone enjoyed the repercussions of this and the U.N.'s stricter moral code, wars began to be quickly resolved and squashed out.

After the Arcana attacks, the United Nations posed as a greater governing body. It was able to bring the world back together and oversee the redevelopment of the major countries affected, including the United States. Of course, there are whispers of collusion and corruption, especially after the Fair Conscription trial and the budget for El Paso Nuevo. By and large, however, the U.N. remains respectable, formidable even. They are the lighthouse in the storm that has been the past fifty years.

Most countries suffered minor injuries from the Arcana, though Central America and the surrounding areas faced intense destruction. A new lake was created by one of the Arcana, cutting a giant hole into the coast of Guatemala. Besides this, Texas and its surrounding states were reduced to rubble, while Panama an Costa Rica are still being investigated for nuclear radiation. People have moved back into Mexico, Guatemala, and other countries in that region, but rebuilding costs money and many of these countries have been left without adequate aid. El Paso Nuevo is unique not only for its safety precautions, but also for its funding. It is a fully re-made city, while many other places affected by the Arcana are only recently rebuilding major buildings.

By and large, most ordinary folk believe the Arcana to be aliens. In fact, the U.N. prefers to call them extraterrestrials, as on paper they do not know what the Arcana are. Of course, a whole lot of digging through to the underground labs of El Paso Nuevo will reveal the United Nations and SNCR know a lot more. In fact, SNCR knows when the Arcana will strike again, as they have discovered through Waite every instance in recorded history where they have struck, and then some.

Of course, thereโ€™s a lot more to reveal about the Arcana, what they are and where they come from, but please allow me the pleasure of building suspense for you all. All will be revealed in due time!

The appearance of Arcana vary greatly. Truly, they wouldnโ€™t be considered the same species if it werenโ€™t for the fact that they have appeared and attacked humanity around the same time.

Typically, Arcana have three main elements in common: durability, regeneration, and massive size. This is not to say that an Arcana cannot he small, but most have the height and width that towers many skyscrapers. Additionally, they come in various sizes, shapes, etc. Some can even look unnatural, almost object-like. Arcana do not come in one-size-fits-all format, and this only serves to make destroying them more difficult.

Furthermore, the Arcana have varied abilities, specifically more powerful versions of the ones held by our cast. Of course, the other eleven Arcana to be revealed will provide a different set of abilities, but all the same, they are a heterogenous group.

WAITE.


A group of mystery higher-ups conglomerated independently of the United Nations. They are responsible for bringing the origins of the Arcana to S.N.C.R. As a result, they oversee SNCR, despite the two organizations butting heads frequently. The United Nations, however, adores Waite and works frequently .

The Suspicious Natural Circumstances Response Committee technically began long before the Arcana made itself known. At least, known to the rest of the world. Director Ino and his team forged bonds in college, particularly over forensic anthropology and genetics. Famously in his school days, Ino was known for his obsession with drawings found on a cave deep in a Guatemalan glade, found by his long-time second-in-command, Hoogstra. In particular, he found himself obsessed with the strange nature of the โ€˜godโ€™ depicted, as it wasnโ€™t indicative of Mayan or any other indigenous group of Central America. That and his surpassed understanding of artificial life caught the attention of Waite. Somewhere along the way, Waite and Ino became connected, and Ino set off on an expedition with his team. An expedition Waite told him not to go on, but it appeared that the cogs were set in motion. The Goldberg Machine leading to Calamity began, and Ino was there to ensure everything went as it should.

However, one could say SNCR caused the Sixth Spread. At least, they tried to.

SNCR began after their expedition, officiated by the United Nations, much to their chagrin. The U.N. saw no other option, considering ancient celestial bodies were not exactly their forte.

Director Ino may have also blackmailed his teamโ€™s way into powerโ€ฆ

As a result, much of SNCR is shrouded in mystery, with information revealed as needed and only to those with clearance.

The man where it all begins. An enigma to many, including his own family. Determined and set on his path. Not the type to yell or scream, but always shifty. His eyes casually speak of more judgement than many find capable of passing to a criminal. People call him a mad scientist, others worship his feet like a god.

Project Minor Inherit.


The origins of Project MI is long and laborious. Truthfully, Project MI begins before the first attack. It starts with the MIs, Inoโ€™s first project and attempt at defending against the Arcana. For now, though, we shall focus on the aftermath of the first attacks.

Which resulted in bodies. Eleven, semi-intact bodies of extraterrestrials that almost murdered humanity. Culled the earth. Bodies that Director Ino was dribbling at the mouth to ge to investigate. He had tried mimicking them, creating something derivative, but he had been unsuccessful. Now, he had the chance to fix his mistake.

Director Ino has never revealed why he and his wife decided to have her consume the heart of The Fool. When asked, he simply chuckles and sus, โ€œI was grasping at strawโ€ but truly, he isnโ€™t that careless.

Director Ino and his wife, who also worked for SNCR, knew exactly what they were doing.

The reasoning is just a bitโ€ฆ complicated. Deranged may be a better word for it.

They knew of the results, or at least guessed at them, and the chance success was too good to pass up. When nothing appeared off with his wife, his team set to collecting a list of subjects to consume the hearts of the others. The resulting pool of expecting birthers were offered a large sum and a pen to sign the papers. The advertised experiment was for a treatment to help โ€˜improve the health and chance of survival amongst newborns.โ€™ Of course, this was a lie, but when the birthers were given the chance at a monthly stipend for the duration of their pregnancies with a promise of even more money should the pregnancy come to term, the suspicious smoothies they were given did not cause too much upset. To put it simply, they were easily fooled, but how could they not be? A government official offering them money for an experiment that was supposed to help their babies survive? How awful could that be?

The story is easy to follow from there. When the trial began, The Fool was the only one whose abilities had shown. After the trial, The Lovers showed their abilities around age 2-12, as did The Tower and The Hermit. Ages 12-20 brought the abilities of The High Priestess, The Moon, and The Devil. Finally, The Hanged Man and The World found their abilities between 19-22. Of course, exceptions applied, as the science behind consuming Arcana hearts is fairly new, but Director Inoโ€™s careful tracking of their yearly progress has shown his methods to be productive.

Guns - SNCR has worked specially with militaries across the globe to create a wide arsenal of guns. The most commonly used is the photon gun, which shoots a length of light energy. It is solar-powered and easy to use. There is also a version of the photon gun akin to the Paris Gun of the WWI. Both will be used, though the Paris Gun is usually used by those within a MI

Suits - All Children will wear a plugsuit, in the event that they have to use an MI (ex). Additionally, the suits provide defense against a wide variety of attacks and strength levels of attacks. Lastly, they act as a magnifier and conductor for the Childrenโ€™s abilities.

MIs - The MIs are the most impressive advancement that SNCR has made, besides Project MI. Initially, the large, humanoid machines known as the MIs were meant to be the first line of defense against the Arcana when they attacked 44 years ago. They were mildly successful, though ultimately most users died. The MIs are finicky, and it requires the machine and the user to bond to yield satisfactory results. The MIs are the best place to be in the event of an attack, though, as they provide an almost impenetrable barrier between the Arcana and the user.
Though, it is best not to question how they workโ€ฆ youโ€™ll only get Inoโ€™s signature stare.
