SEVERA CAINHURST
THE SPIDER LILY

severa.jpg
Level
49

Age
29

Gender
Female

Role
Child of Cainhurst

Race
Human

PERSONAL

Sexuality

Bisexual

High Concept
The oldest of Ulfric's surviving children and Crown Princess of Blackrock, Severa rules as the kingdom's second in command and Ulfric's right hand.

Personality
"Oh, my sweet darling baby brother. If anything were to happen to you I would drown this whole castle in blood."

Beautiful, cunning and deadly - Severa encompasses everything a Cainhurst should be. Ruthless and bloodthirsty, Severa is widely known for murdering those who threaten her family or her position without a second thought, and has earned her feared moniker "The Spider Lily" for her brutal enforcement of Cainhurst supremacy. Indeed, many of the nobles of the Black Court fear her almost as much as they do Ulfric himself which is... quite the achievement. There are even whispers and rumors circulated in trusted circles that Severa may have been responsible for the "disappearance" of her older (and far madder) brother - Lucien. Her use of dark magic over the decades has rendered her susceptible to mood swings and paranoia.

While feared for her bloodthirsty reputation, many newcomers to Blackrock are surprised by Severa's rather motherly and elegant persona. She is charismatic and charming, and is as generous to her allies as she is deadly to her foes. She is loved by her servants, who she treats with respect and fondness and is a very capable politician and tactician.

Severa's true nature comes to light when she is in the company of her younger siblings. Incredibly motherly and doting, Severa's love for them is so excessive it borders on being uncomfortable for even the most hardy of onlookers. She treats them all as children, regardless of their age and gets anxious if she doesn't know where they all are at all times. While somewhat suffocating, Severa is the best Big sister one could hope for - protecting and nurturing them in a deadly environment. Only the bravest (or foolhardy) of Blackrock's enemies even contemplate bringing harm to the Cainhurst children for fear of Severa's insurmountable wrath. Her doting attitude comes from Severa's own lack of a motherly figure through her own lonely childhood, and she works tirelessly to ensure her darling younger siblings do not suffer as she did.

Backstory
Born to one of Ulfric's many faceless mistresses, Severa was the second child born to Ulfric and his very first daughter. Severa endured a lonely and isolated childhood, with most attention focused on her older brother Lucien, who was to inherit the throne upon Ulfric's passing. Regardless, Severa excelled in her studies, showing a great affinity for Dark Magic even by Cainhurst standards.
{Will finish when rest of Cainhurst siblings are created}

Hometown
Severa was born in Blackrock to one of Ulfric's mistresses.

PHYSICAL

Items & Personal Belongings

Severa wields the twin daggers Rise and Fall, both Dwarven relics of a bygone era gifted to her on her 16th birthday that reflect Severa's elegant fighting techniques. They can cut through even the strongest armor and magical defense.

Abilities
An expert of the darker magicks, Severa has a particular talent for the schools of Illusion and conjuration.

Weaknesses
Putting her siblings in peril causes Severa to lose all sense of composure and logic.

Helmfried Cainhurst
The Sorcerer of Storms

1590244170979.png

Age:
26

Gender:
Male

Role:
Cainhurst

Race:
Human

Sexuality:
Heterosexual

High Concept:
The now eldest Cainhurst son, he upholds a mysterious aura to outsiders, able to appear out of thin air just as easily as he can disappear. With a high interest in pushing the limits of magic, his true hobbies conflict with his rather lively, almost jovial nature.

Personality:
Helmfried is a man of mystery. He keeps many of his hobbies a secret, usually only indulging in them with his siblings, though he isn't one to be completely open with anyone. He tends to keep himself shut in his room for hours, sometimes even days, usually run ragged from experiments he never shares the outcome of. In the instances where he roams the halls of Blackrock, he is rather lively, sometimes causing scenes with the unfortunate souls that wander their halls, entrapping them in bizarre dances and singing dreary songs in a deep voice. He embraces the rumors calling him 'mad', finding intrigue in the different responses people have to how he behaves in more casual settings. He will typically tip servants for reporting any gossip they here back to him, and will find new ways to lightly torment those that cross him.

When it comes to his siblings, Helmfried takes on a more authoritative demeanor. He encourages them to become strong and take in all the knowledge they can, and will even aid them in their studies if they need it. A man who values knowledge above all else, Helmfried refuses to allow anyone related to him to end up uneducated. It isn't rare for him to scold his younger siblings about not taking the chance they have to learn more about Hollowvale and the rest of the world. Under the sound belied that 'a sharp mind trounces a sharp blade', if not for his position, Helmfried would dream of becoming a scholar.

In the courts of Blackrock, especially in front of his father, Helmfried's typical personality turns completely around. He is serious and quiet for the most part, speaking mostly only when spoken to. He has shown himself to be relentless in a debate, never backing down when it comes to ways to better the lives of the citizens. He has nearly shown open contempt for the downward spiral his own father is taking, but he knows how to bite his own tongue. He presents himself as a hard yet level-headed member of the Cainhurst family.

Backstory:
Cursed to the existence of being the second son, Helmfried did not get the same treatment as his older brother. For a time, he was easily forgettable when compared to his older siblings, as they excelled while he was deemed rather average for most of his life. He resented not just his siblings and father, but his own mother who allowed him to be born. He began causing mischief for the servants, trying to garner attention, even if it was mostly negative. When it came to his studies and combat practice, he put all of his energy into it. Especially combat, where he was rather lacking. The constant fear of dying at the hands of those in the castle of Blackrock always loomed over his head. However, he eventually figured out his greatest skill: magic. He began learning all he could, practicing his magic in almost all settings he could, and his outlook on life began to brighten, as he now had something he could be proud of. His hunger for knowledge grew, as did his wonder about the reaches magic could reach.

(Will update with other characters as necessary.)

Hometown:
Blackrock Castle

Items & Belongings:
In terms of weapons, Helmfried usually carries a broadsword on him, but his main weapon is a magical staff that enhances the spells he can cast, which he can conjure at will if he needs it.

Abilities:
When it comes to magic, Helmfried is normally seen as a jack of all trades, able to use almost any kind of magic he sees to a certain level, be it illusion, conjuration, necromancy, or any other school of magic. However, his own specialty lies in the realm of elemental magic, where he can conjure great blasts of fire or torrents of scalding water when he sees fit, all with a wave and snap of his finger. There are few to find that are close to him in that regard, and even fewer who can mix the skills of animancy into it, breathing life into elemental creations to make living disasters when there are no dead bodies to reanimate with his necromancy.

Level:
53

Weaknesses:
Though he indeed can handle his own, in terms of brute strength, almost anyone can outshine Helmfried, so close quarters are not his strong suit, and he will typically try to put some distance between himself and others to give him enough room for his spells. He also struggles with a fear of suffocation after an experiment went terribly wrong, so he typically tries to keep himself in more open spaces if he can help it.

Jeanne Marchant
the Perfect Servant

DPJ2o4yVAAEiEXa.jpg

Name: Jeanne Marchant
Level: 7
Age: 28
Gender: Female
Role: Servant
Race: Human
Sexuality: Heterosexual, biromantic

High Concept: A loyal servant of the royal family, particularly devoted to the younger Cainhurst children.

Personality:
Years spent serving in the halls of Blackrock have smoothed out the rough edges in Jeanne’s personality (or at least, taught her how to hide them. A noble’s flaws are eccentric. A commoner’s are dangerous.) On the face, she’s mild mannered, gentle, the consummate attendant hovering in the background with your favorite drink, ready to be called on. And Jeanne’s proud of it. She’s worked on this for years. (It’s all she has.) She’s quick, efficient, and never wastes a movement. You’ll never see her angry or miserable or anxious, only the calm face of a trained servant, and whatever you say to her, every reply is carefully crafted to appease and leave you satisfied with the conversation no matter the outcome. Is she lying? She would never. You just can’t be sure she’s telling the truth either.

(But piss her off in the right way and the truth might come cracking through. Right after her fist cracks through your skull, of course.

But it won’t come to that because she’s the perfect servant and would never harm her betters.)

With the servants, she’s a tough taskmaster, on her way to becoming head maid in another decade or so. She’s still gentle, but now with a thread of iron, and she makes sures everyone and everything is in their proper place. With the Cainhurst children, she’s one of their most loyal servants. Quick to obey, and if someone orders her to do something contrary to their will, she’ll find a way to make sure the Cainhursts get their way first.

And by herself, she’s...a young woman. An ordinary one with hopes and dreams. (Yes, even in the middle of all the magic and undead and madness, somehow, she’s still who she is.) Who desperately wishes for her family but knows it's impossible, and pours her time and soul towards her employers instead. She reads romance books snuck from the library, she listens to gossip from the other maids, she has Opinions about certain nobles. But she’d never reveal these to anyone, not even to her beloved charges. Because she’s the perfect servant after all.

Likes: Making her wards happy, seeing everything neat and tidy and in their place, romance books, chocolate, black tea, having enough free time to wander the castle gardens.
Dislikes: Negative rumors and opinions about the Cainhurst children, untidiness, laziness, lack of discipline, people pestering her about something, being questioned on her abilities.

Backstory:
Born a commoner in Dawnfall, Jeanne lived an ordinary life with her mother and brother. Until, that is, her brother died and her mother fell into a mad despair. She wrote to countless necromancers til she could find one who could revive her son, and miraculously she did, and Laurence Marchant breathed again.

Unfortunately, in her anguish, Jeanne’s mother did not consider the consequences of her actions. Her son was now just a mindless undead, and being commoners, she couldn't even pay off the necromancer. He was sold off to Castle Blackrock, and Jeanne's mother, now completely mad with grief, forced her to "accompany" him as a servant as well. Of course, they were immediately separated, and Jeanne was left alone, at thirteen, practically orphaned in an unfamiliar place.

Wasting away in misery was for nobles however, and she was forced to work, tears be damned. She channeled her love and grief into her work instead, and when she was chosen to be one of the attendants for the younger Cainhursts, she grew to genuinely love her charges. If she couldn’t have her family, she’d help this one instead. Years later, with her “babies” grown, she’s been reassigned as a senior maid but still remains thoroughly devoted to the Cainhurst children.

Hometown: Dawnfall, but she hasn’t returned in several years.

Items & Personal Belongings: An old locket with portraits of her parents and brother. Everything else is ordinary.

Abilities: Being very good at being a maid of course. Knows the castle layout like the back of her hand, including secret passages. Connected with all the servants and labourers in the castle. Excellent social skills, including subtle manipulation and knowing how to turn someone’s attention away from her.

Weaknesses: Her absolute loyalty to the Cainhursts, especially the children. Any mention of her mother or brother. Her locket. Her inability to speak bluntly and need to please people and smooth out every situation. Keeping everything to herself (one day that dam will burst. Until then, she’ll keep holding it all back.)

Klyn "Kyn" Cainhurt
"The Beguiling Son,
" or "The Runemaster,"
Level: 37

Age: 20
Gender: Male
Role: Cainhurst
Sexuality: Pansexual

High Concept: The magnetic son of the personal courts and with a personal vendetta to strive against all odds - a compelling flame that may burn others or himself.

Personality -
Klyn himself possess a wild demeanour, going against the grind of the cold stone and with a little touch of warmth— thus, resulting in a somewhat impulsive and barely to the curb type of man. He possesses perhaps what a tenth of what his other siblings do so, etiquette framed by cocky smiles and a tinge of madness that briefly glints in his hollowed eyes. He's sociable and with a persona that's certainly been developed by the courts, a charisma that overflows to make him seem likeable in anyone's company and a little relaxed, appearing to always having fun. Whilst his darling elders can contest to never backing down, Klyn likes to think he's his special brand of smart, getting underneath someone's skin and breaking them down from the inside out — secrets are usually split in good company and Klyn's curated a persona that represents just that. His need to be sociable has transcended the walls, befriending the servants and locals, glimmering with curiosity to understand the more intricate details pertaining to Hollow Vale. A shameless flirt for all— appreciating beauty and the value, which might suggest that Kyln is far more artistically driven than any other area, a liberation of his mind and expression, haunting pieces that interconnected to his child and thus, never in short supply in trying to charm someone either. There's a fire tempering in his veins and hasn't yet been squashed by his father, Kyln is more stubborn to prove the old oaf wrong. One might say even to an obsessive degree to do just that.

His dynamic with his siblings is a positive one, demonstrated through his worth to be witty and sarcastic, neverending commentary to make light of the current ongoing issues. And sometimes, that dynamic can be a frustrating one, with third eldest burning bright with his desires and stepping slightly over the line, never quite abiding a sense of self-preservation. Bravery for the stupid— and by god, is that true in some instances for parading around the castle and ahem, certain companions. He's a lot more vibrant than one might assume for being a child of the Cainhurst clan, a social butterfly who hasn't yet been clipped. He simply wishes to live travel and commit the world around him into paintings, to capture the very precious moments of life, and his siblings are frequent sources for inspiration and comfort for him to draw.

This is especially important to him, to document the very existence of his loved ones.

Backstory:
Klyn's mother was previously a travelling courtesan, a bejewelled woman of crimson hair and said to that her beauty was unrivalled, and thus, landed her herself as a mistress for the Lord Cainhurt and who knows, maybe that dramatic flair is inherently in his heritage. The third son but yet, for a time, his existence could be ignored and his antics, mostly to tormenting the servants and flaking out on his studies. There was something intriguing about the world of drawing, grabbing scraps of whatever he could to draw with, namely rocks against the dirt, pencils gifted to him by servants. He enjoyed the world of art- reading countlessly with varying techniques, he was inspired. For Kyln wasn't very studious, oh no, he blossomed into entirely the opposite direction, but soon the fear was engrained into Klyn, the subsequent trials changed him, for a fire wasn't doused - no, a fire was born to survive and thrash against the confines of Cainhurts family tradition and maddening father where insanity was commonplace. His true talents seemed to be negotiation and diplomatic of sorts, charming and endearing— drawing people in with a bewitching smile and soon found his strengths to be courts and the intricate nature of politics, how much to give and how much to take, conducting a brilliant dance with a devilish tongue. His reputation certainly proceeded him, whereas his wonderful sister dispatched enemies through a carefully placed dagger. Kyln crafted precious rumours, unsightly and using the public to be his weapon, schemes and ploys to be manipulative and yet enchanting - to unhinge a solid door, you must start with the nails.

Despite that, there does seem to be a tiny bit of contradiction in his past. An artistic mind was drawn to the complexity of the glimmering symbols, one to invoke the will of the arcane language - finding books in the library, finding those symbols was unlocking a new part to Kyln. As his pedantic nature would suggest, the perfect ability for someone who wishes to impart the world with his maddening vision and ever wanderlust for adventure, directly from the depths of his own creativity,

To string those symbols together into the magic he primarily draws from.

Hometown: Blackrock Castle

Items & Personal Belongings: Throwing knives and a rusted coin gifted to him, which he tends to play around, secretly given to him by his mother, ushered through a selective chain of servants. He does have a few prized sketchbooks, filled to the brim.

Abilities: His necromancy can be considered subpar, for the most part, but what Kyln equalizes is a wonderland of enchanting runes, particularly dark runes [shimmering glyphs], conducted by a pretentious hand to trap his enemies or bind them, when crossing over the runes. He's shown an innate ability to weave his wicked mind behind each letter and with a variety of effects, invoking the very nature of the arcane, minor with draining and a little dabbling of conjuration.

Mostly wicked beasts that he's personally drawn,

Spending his life somewhat socially, Kyln has learned to pick out the nuances in someone's body language, almost telling if you're lying or telling the truth - a very useful skill in determining someone's worth to him and his siblings, as well with a silver tongue that never quits.

Drawing - A skill that was evolved from the shaky fingertips from a boy wanting to find solace, to now a man who can call himself an artist. Klyn's drawing skills have touched the realm of realism and even conceptual, with a predisposition to abstract forms and pieces. The raw emotion that resonates with each denture of his lines and paint. It's one of the more impressive skills to be lined up with Kyln's arsenal. An instinct to reshape the world into his own dramatic mind

Weaknesses:
Obnoxious and egotistical, Kyln can himself can grab the wrong type of attention, he isn't the most physically inclined with weaponry, preferring to rely on the methods of his runes and with an accurate throw of his knives. He's also a little showy, like a peacock wanting to be admired.

- Brash: Unfortunately, strategy for long-term isn't in his repertoire. Finding quick solutions and quickly fixating on the first piece that makes a lick of sense. An odd trait for sure, when you contemplate further on his complicated existence, but he's the never one to fault in his beliefs neither.

- Knowledge: Excelling for most, but lacking in the red eyes of Kyln, knowledge is ever fleeting in his vision and hasn't taken upon himself to study to the lengths of his other siblings. He's pitiful, reciting the very basic - unless it's rumours, gossip spoken from the seductive and yet pliable lips of those he accompanies.

The Seventh Maiden
Wrath

Seldanna Penelo Valvaris

Age: 33

Gender: Female

Role: Dark Maiden

Race: Dark Elf

Base level: 62
Demon Form level: 75
PERSONAL

Sexuality:
Demi-sexual

High Concept: A Dark maiden , loyal to Ulfric and his family , she will never falter.

Personality:
Looks can be deceiving when it comes to Seldanna, but most know that above all else she's humble as well as tried and true. Of course she's also cheerful, and empathetic ,mainly to the younger Cainhurst children. But they're in shorter supply, especially considering they're mixed with her stoic upfront personality. Being vulnerable with anyone in Blackrock is a luxury few can afford.

Her time in Blackrock has been a roller coaster to say the least , a place full of colorful people in a dreary place filled with the undead and those who can control it. And thus Seldanna has borrowed attributes from a multitude of personalities. Cold and calculating , bloodthirsty in battle , it is safe to say she learned most of these traits in the rawest form from the Cainhurst family themselves.
But not without their intuition , open mindedness and protectiveness towards the residents who call Blackrock fortress home.

Her though, this is what she's most popular for is her kindness. Oftentimes people will count on this and her considerate nature whenever they need cheering up.

Nobody's perfect of course and Seldanna has plenty of less favorable characteristics too. Her stubborn nature and absoulute inability to keep her mouth shut can cause things to heat up, both personally and for others.

Fortunately her cheerfulness helps keep them in check for at least a little.

Backstory:
Born in Galomel . Seldanna came from a family of just a single mother who was an escort. The birth of Seldanna caused her mother to seek out a better life for the both of them and thus she took up work as a seamstress. It was their Seldannas mother met her soon to be husband. All was well until the birth of her sister , as Dynamics in her family began to change , a 12 year old Seldanna was soon loathed upon by her step father as being a bastard child.

First it was just her mother spending more time with her new sister , then it became Seldannas room becoming her sisters room and Seldanna sleeping on the floor , to sleeping outside. As the neglect ramped on she never felt any hatred towards her mother or step father , but apathy , she couldn't care less if they died , or vanished. But seeing her little sister so helpless and small Seldanna stuck through it all just to see her grow.

By the time she was 15 Seldanna had spent a year on her own. The trauma her neglect caused her never being fully healed Seldanna took up the same work as her mother to just barely scrape by. No amount of beatings or violence never stopped her , however that was when a true anger and resentment began to brew inside of her. All of those nights laying on another strangers bed she could think about "why me?" "I never deserved any of this."

Seldanna doesn't even remember the time she snapped , burning a house down and a few acres of surrounding land with will alone. When locals heard of the girl whose body became flames she was eventually recruited by Ulfric.

Hometown: Galomel

PHYSICAL

Seldanna is 5'5 with lime green eyes and a pale grayish complexion , her hair is down to her shoulders and cascades on her face. She trains often so her body has a very firm like feel , but soft smooth skin counteracts that toughness. Although dark maidens are said to be extremely beautiful Seldanna doesn't perceive herself as such. Who has time in a world like this to be consumed with such things?

Appearance:
bangku-an-derret.jpg

Demon form "Wrath"
pilyeon-2020-03-15-4-45-30.jpg

Normal armor attire:
06a23591ac51290fa9672e17c7d1c62252bd16a4.png

Items & Personal Belongings: Her glaive , As well as the clothes she came in with , a reminder of her old life. A pendant with a picture of her mother and little sister , which she keeps by her nightstand.

Abilities: Seldanna has mastered the artistry that is channeling blood magic. especially through her glaive. Her offensiveness relies on extremely fast attacks while applying blood marks to rend her foes and incapacitate them. She can intertwine her fire abilities into her blood magic by making it combustible. she can also light a candle with her fingers which she thinks is a cool trick.

Weaknesses: her prowess in combat is unwavering , however she lacks in any magic that isn't fire or blood , and cant use either in long ranged combat. In an everyday setting Seldanna fears the day she will be no longer useful to ulfric and his children and thus she has become stubborn and sometimes non compliant , pushing herself to the max to prove her worthiness.

Lucian Octavian Cainhurst
"The Star Speaker" or "The Celestial Envoy"
6e8d98f9b2c5efe5fcf8351c0fc35d3d.jpgc7ab81afbb0bcf36defc4523cf7c7b92.jpg
Level: 38
Age: 18
Gender: "Does this really matter?" (Non-Practicing male. Born male, but only really goes on holidays)
Role: Cainhurst Sibling
Race: Human

PERSONAL
Sexuality:
Demiromantic/ demisexual
High Concept: Less physical than his siblings, the healer and fortuneteller of the bunch. Aloof, but sweet and kind. One of the baby Cainhursts along with Noire, but wise beyond his years.
Personality: Intelligent and wise, Lucian is more likely to be found reading or advising, or tagging along anywhere as a powerful healer. Softer hearted than his siblings, he makes up for it in brilliant strategy and his 'sight'. Despite being night and day different, he is practically glued to Klyn's side. Lucian can usually be found trying to dissuade him from getting in trouble. More of the "rebellious" one. Not really, as he wouldn't have survived. But tends to have a lighter color scheme, and be a bit kinder. Sneaks out of the house sometimes to deliver food and handmade clothes to the people (has bribed some of the guards in future vision to let him do this, Klyn is the only sibling who is in on it). Lucian does not speak often, and is often thinking. He can be quite eccentric, never walking and only floating above the ground. Never seen using doors, just kinda appears and dissapears as he pleases. He isn't as into dark magic as his siblings are, his magic is Gray Magic. Inbetween Dark and Light, not necessarily evil or good.

Likes: Siblings, reading (there is a library in the Fortress, used almost exclusively by him), birds, animals in general, knitting, sewing, hunting on occasion. His familiar, magic in general., monsters and creatures of folklore. Loves folk stories, and learning anything he can. The night sky.

Dislikes: Anyone messing with his siblings, having to fight, getting yelled at, anyone messing with his stuff, gimmick fortune tellers. People disregarding his warnings, or misinterpreting them. Bright daylight.

Backstory: Born at midnight to one of Ulfric's cycling cast of mistresses, Lucian was the first child to show some. . peculiarities. They say he was born blessed, though some would say corrupted by the Dark Blood. Born with stars in his eyes, quite literally. Full midnight eyes, pools of the night sky, full sclera. He was a sickly child, but he made up for it in intelligence.

On the night of Lucian's 7th birthday, he awoke at midnight in a vision. He sleepwalked up to the observatory, a tall tower used occasionally by mages and astronomers. When he stepped out onto the balcony, a figure of starlight came down and gave him a wrapped set of cards. Twenty two golden cards, who all joyously spoke to him as soon as he held them. The figure spent all night teaching him about his new powers. How he could bend the world around him, change gravity, heal others, and when the stars were right, even tell the future. The cards would help him, talk to him. They filled his head with knowledge far beyond his years, beyond what any normal person could know. He stayed there until morning, when a rather frantic Severa found him, his eyes now glowing with a golden light. He was gifted his trademark mask a few weeks later as a late birthday present.

Since then, Lucian has been a watchful figure, helping with the healers and advising his family on what to do. He gained a habit of floating instead of walking, never using doors. Lucian just kind of appears and dissapears as he wishes, which can give people quite a fright.

Lucian was always the soft one, and Luna's death hit him hard. He had suggested her name, and he saw much of himself in her. Kind and loving, but she was a sickly child like he was. He saw visions and hallucinations like she did, but never as often, or as frightening. He stayed up many nights comforting her. Pleading to her namesake moon and the stars, to please help his sister. But his healing magic didn't help her visions and her nightmares. He was with her the night she died, he swore to the celestial bodies above. He didn't leave his observatory for weeks after that, pleading and praying to the moon for something. To see her spirit, to talk to her. For something, anything.

After that, Lucian spoke only when he needed to, and he learned how to knit and sew. Around when he became 14, he started sneaking out of the house at night. Lucian would give handmade clothes and food to the poor, and tell futures. He used his healing as much as he could to help people, curing things that were deemed terminal, something he couldn't do for Luna. Comforting families, either assuring that their loved one had much longer to live, or breaking the hard truth. The Angel of The Hollow, the people call him. He would bribe the guards to let him out at night, Klyn being the only sibling that knew. Because Klyn would sneak out too, though usually to cause trouble.

In court, his reputation grew as the All-Knowing Cainhurst. You could not make a factual mistake around him, he was a walking library. He had long ago memorized all of the books in the castle, and he had knowledge far beyond that. He doesn't speak often, he doesn't need to.

Hometown: Blackrock Fortress

PHYSICAL
Appearance:
Lucian is quite opposite to the rest of his siblings: a pure albino. His eyes are pools of the midnight sky, stars and all which give off a golden glow. Lucian always wears a mask to cover this, as it can get annoying for others. About 5' 6", 165 lbs. Lean and wiry, and prefers a lighter color scheme. The white sheep of the family, you could say. Less of a twink than the ref.

Items & Personal Belongings: His seeing eye familiar, cards, and walking stick. His mask. A crescent moon shaped necklace, with a moonstone. In memory of Luna.

Abilities: Lucian has almost an encyclopedic knowledge of most things, gained from a life holed up inside the library and his twenty two friends. Lucian is something called a Astrologian. This is an incredibly rare form of Arcane specialty, also known as "Astromancy" one a Mage could try to train for his whole life and not even manage to scratch the surface. It can only be learned by one blessed with a very rare form of magical signature, one that allows the Mage to attune to the very cosmos. Even Ulfric himself cannot do this. An Astrolgian's power is one over fate. An Astrolgian uses the movements of the stars and special Arcane cards (Basically Tarot) to see...not into the future exactly, but see the possibilities of fate. While still considered Dark Magic, Astromancy is actually a combination of Dark and Light. There's some other fun little things an Astrologian can do, mess with gravity, use the atherial energies to heal and bless his allies. That sort of thing. he would have a deck of Golden cards, gifted to him whoever trained him in this rare and mysterious art. On clear nights, he can travel to the Blackrock Observatory, and there with the guidance of the stars, he can see the Cosmos itself.

Lucian is a healer mainly, a healer and advisor to the rest.

Weaknesses: Due to his reliance on his cards, he is extremely protective of them. He has them with him at all times, and gets a bit unhinged without his chorus of 22 voices in his head constantly. He spaces out often, due to listening or talking to his cards. They sometimes speak through him, which can frighten people. Which, he tends to do already, since he never touches the ground or uses doors. Just kind of appears behind you and disappears just as quickly. Some servants(especially the newer ones) believe he is a ghost, or doesn't truly exist. Lucian plays along, granted they have never seen him eat or touch objects(like with the floor, he kinda floats instead of holding things. He still picks them up, just never leaves any traces. And he does eat, just not much. Severa is trying to get him to eat more).

Lucian isn't physically the strongest, being a bit of a sick child (the first of the "Cainhurst Runts", the children who are a bit more corrupted by their father's Dark Blood).

ASHERAH "ash" SORRELL
THE SECOND MAIDEN, LUST

U9WKY0e.png

BASIC
Age
95

Gender
Female

Role
Dark Maiden

Race
Half-dragon, half-human

Level
Base Form - 70 ; Lust Form - 79

PERSONAL
Sexuality

Pansexual, Demiromantic

High Concept
One of the older Dark Maidens with an unwavering sense of allegiance and whose heart sits on the edge of a void.

Personality
Asherah is a favored Dark Maidens due to her elegance, amiability, and somewhat flirtatious image. Though she enjoys her alone time and would prefer the company of alcohol a bit more than a living being, she would never push away a good conversation or physical company. Teasing remarks are not uncommon to those that are friendly with her, and she is the type to play along with jokes if they're amusing enough. She is, arguably, one of the more approachable Dark Maidens, too. Many seek her out for comfort, whether physical or emotional. There is an obvious facade with which she communicates though, as if she spent years perfecting the role of the "caregiver."

When it comes to her role as a Dark Maiden, Asherah does not let anyone or anything stop her from performing her duties. She is the type to end her enemies swiftly, finding prolonged pain meaningless and cruel. As such, she may even be considered merciful when compared to her colleagues. Asherah is also sacrificial in nature. There is zero hesitation within her if she needs to use her body as a barrier. Perhaps her only flaw as a monster warrior is her weakness for children. She gets particularly bothered when they are caught in the crossfire. and her personality tends to change a bit during these occasions.

Aside from the mask she perfected and her job as a Dark Maiden, there is a noticeable emptiness about her when she's studied closely. Her eyes are often dull and without any shine when she's not making jokes or conversation, and there's a certain sadness in the way she carries herself. Some have asked what ails her, but even she doesn't know. There is a void within her heart and a constant tickle in her head, like a fight to retrieve her memories. She tries to ease it by drowning herself with work, sleeping around, and even playing the harp or singing when she has free time.

Backstory
Born in the secluded settlement of Grimthorne, Asherah led a difficult life from the very beginning. She's the product of an experimentation as both parents needed money and a certain dark mage wanted to create an entirely different race. Her birth sparked a series of rumors and controversies, but her parents ignored the harsh words and cared for their only daughter. However, her grandparents wanted nothing more than to cast out the abomination that appeared "human" enough but possessed elf-like qualities. It was around the age of six when she began to understand how cruel the world really was.

An accident with her unknown powers led to both her father and mother being killed. They believed Asherah to be a cursed monster that would bring the ruthless undead to their homes, without realizing that she was merely of dragon blood. This led her enraged grandparents to physically retaliate against her, even going as far as leaving her mangled body at the edge of the Dread Waste. They had hoped she'd be eaten, but the young girl survived and thrived with the help of a mage that found her.

For nearly a decade she spent her time honing her skills and learning how to survive in Hollowvale. Alone once again after her teacher had died, Asherah set out to find purpose and found herself in Vinistead where she fell in love with a man who went by "Sorrell." Sorrell came with one daughter of his own, born a year ago during his wife's labor. Both she and the widow were enamored with one another though. However, their happiness was cut short when a group of undead attacked Sorrell and his daughter, causing Asherah to momentarily go berserk.

The memory of that time is faint, having been so many decades ago. She numbs herself by serving the Cainhurst family dutifully and the only remnants of her past are the five golden earrings she has on her left ear, each representing a lost loved one. Unfortunately, her memories for why they are there became unclear after the Dead Maiden ritual. She only knows they're important.

Hometown
Grimthorne

PHYSICAL
Appearance

Asherah is known as one of the most beautiful servants in the House of Cainhurst. She appears to be around her mid-twenties, however, those familiar with her know that she is much, much older. A bit taller than most women, Asherah stands at 5'8" and weighs around 140 lbs in muscle. Though strong, there is a softness about her body that makes her seem delicate upon first glance. Her slightly tanned skin is also covered with intricate tattoos. Her hair is as black as a raven's feathers, falling down to her waist in waves or a loose braid. With eyes the color of rubies underneath the rising sun, she is capable of shaking some men, and women, by merely looking at them.
If she were to wear basic armor.
hKXyvpP.png

Asherah’s demon form, Lust, and the only form she can fly in.
1OSwsKH.png

Items & Personal Belongings
Five golden earrings on her left ear. An old scarf that is stitched with stars that she keeps tied around her left wrist. Everything else is ordinary.

Abilities
Aside from the general strength and prowess granted to her by being a Dark Maiden, Asherah is well-versed in hand-to-hand combat, though she may pick up a sword or two if she chooses. She is a cryokinetic that is capable of manipulating and producing ice to a certain extent. Her dragon blood also grants her predatory senses, such as enhanced sight, hearing, and even smell; it also makes her skin a bit more durable than a normal human's.

Weaknesses
Asherah shows some weakness in long range combat, merely because her abilities rely on being physically near her opponents. She also has a soft spot for children, which makes her extremely protective over the Cainhurst siblings since she watched them grow up. As such, her actions may seem erratic or uncharacteristic if one of them were to face danger on her watch.

FUN FACTS
- When it gets too hot, Asherah's skin will break out in scales and begin to itch. To combat this during the summer, she is constantly using the tiniest amount of her abilities to cool herself off.
- Asherah sings and plays the harp.
- She says “Hello, Darling” to many people when greeting them.
- Collects shiny things.
- Is the only one of her kind, making her extra lonely.

Mattias Vorpaleon
113f1dcc4a21f6eb7d3aa46c6f09a0db.jpg
BASIC INFORMATION

Age
:
35

Gender:
Male

Role: Bloodguard

Race: Human (werewolf)

PERSONAL

Sexuality:
Asexual/Bi-Romantic

High Concept: A skilled fighter who managed to become one of the Cainhurt children's combat tutors.

Personality: Living a hard, unforgiving life has left Mattias with a rough, tough, and at times prickly exterior. His face seems
forever frozen in an unimpressed scowl, smiling so rarely that many believe him incapable of the act. However this doesn't
mean Mattias is some misanthropic bastard no matter what he'll try to make others believe. The veteran warrior is very
protective of others and is sensitive to other people's woes (though he kinda sucks at showing it). For all his grumbling
Mattias genuinely cares about the remaining Cainhurst siblings, hoping to instill within them the skills necessary
to survive in this cruel world. He sees each death of the previous siblings as a personal failing forever banded
on his soul.

Though Mattias bows his head to Ulfric he feels nothing but poisonous contempt for him and prays
old age or a blade ends the old man soon because the warrior fears that his madness will bring the
kingdom to ruin. Another thing Mattias fears/loathes is his lycanthropy, more specifically that his
curse will one day make him kill someone he cares about.

Romance is a subject that Mattias isn't well versed in, often becoming flustered when someone flirts
with him.

Backstory: The first thing Mattias remembers are the sounds of creaky wagon carts, smells of strong herbs, and sights of roaring bonfires. The warrior
was one of the Vorpaleon; a nomadic group that traveled around southern Hollowvale offering their services to the people the lived there. What was that
service? Simple, slaying any monsters that they're asked to from hags to cockatrices to trolls to the occasional Abyss Undead. For a fee of course. The
Vorpaleons started off several decades ago as a family of professional monster slayers that traveled the lands for work. Over time individuals
who shared a desire to protect the innocent from these beasts joined the band of warriors thus forming the close-knit and deadly group known
today. Unfortunately work was becoming scarce in Aether due to the Church of Light, so the Vorpaleons soon found their way to Hollowvale.
Luckily for them the Kingdom was a fertile breeding ground of natures most vile creatures. And for about forty years or so the Vorpaleons
continued their work, eventually sticking around Southern Hollowvale as that was their services seemed to be needed the most.

Then on a cold, fall morning Mattias Vorpaleon came into this world. Born to descendants of the original Vorpaleon family the man
had quite the pedigree to live up to. Once he could pick up a sword Mattias was trained vigorously by his parents to fight with
both the ferocity and grace the family was known for. He killed his first monster with assistance at age nine, first solo kill was around
age eleven. Through the years Mattias greatly improved his skills, both in sword play and magic, showing that he was more
than worthy of his lineage. Then it all came crashing down. The Vorpaleons were making their way close to the edges of
The Wastes when they were beset by a horde of Abyss Undead. They all fought valiantly, but the corpses numbers proved
too great for them to handle. In the end the group was forced to separate in order to have a chance that any of them
would survive. Mattias never saw his family again.

For a year Mattias lived as a lone vagrant. He still killed monsters
for coin but now he was in constant fear. Fear that someone would find out about his curse, that he'd kill an innocent
while trapped in a frenzied blood rage. One day his luck turned around. On the outskirts of Vinestead Mattias
came across a platoon of soldiers having trouble against a rogue necromancer and his small horde of undead
minions. Without thinking he leapt to their aid and assisted them in defeating the spell caster. Impressed by
his skill one of the soldiers, a captain, asked Mattias if he wanted to join their company. At first the teen
declined however the captain proved to be a very persistent woman and eventually convinced him to
join.
Over the next few years Mattias worked diligently as a soldier, rising up the ranks and eventually becoming a Blood Guard
stationed in Blackrock Castle. There he would eventually earn the right the become one of the Cainhurst children's combat
tutors. It was a job Mattias wasn't very pleased with as he felt like a glorified babysitter looking after the king's brats (though
he'd never dare speak his displeasure out loud). In spite of his beast efforts Mattias grew like teaching and even began to
care about the royal siblings. He mourned whenever a child died during one of Ulfric's damnable tests, feeling like he's
lost a sibling himself. After the death of the fifth one Mattias seriously considered cutting his losses and leaving the
Blood Guard behind, but in the end found he couldn't leave the remaining children behind. And so he stayed,
hoping that he won't lose anymore students to their insane father.

Hometown: Crowheaven

PHYSICAL

Items & Personal Belongings
:

Arcane Focus: A red crystal that floats in Mattias' right hand which serves as a medium he can cast spells through. One of
the few mementos he kept when he left home.

Blood Guard Uniform: Issued upon obtaining the rank

Rozen: The name of Mattias' trusty sword which saw him through many battles

Abilities: Mattias is an adept swordsman and a decent mage that specializes in wind and lighting magic. His fighting style involves a mix
of nimble swordplay while keeping an opponent on their toes with random magic attacks. Rarely does Mattias rush in blind against an enemy
preferring to out smart and out maneuver an opponent.

Weaknesses: Silver is Mattias' kryptonite. Just touching the stuff leaves painful burns that take weeks, sometimes months, to heal and can be fatal
if exposed for too long. For all his skill Mattias is no match for any of the Dark Maidens, something he knows and is surprisingly unbothered by. When
it comes to raw, magical power the tutor is outmatched by a lot of studied mages.

Noire Cainhurst
The Troubled Tactician

vyyqw1ZyWJ5mg4FM5_T0ClWdo8OTSrvgQ-IMyZVb263-akkN3_79NgcjbZovUfS-WzZrqS3gDG60DReFg10ZBTudu7BAVHP6EH6P1dDnio2vCEJuquXwrLl91kvCljnPxAknAtMQ

Level 22 | 15 Years Old | Female | Human

Sexuality: Bisexual

High Concept: The youngest of the Cainhurst siblings, Noire is an anxious person but is not to be underestimated.

Personality:
It’s no secret that Noire is known to be the most anxious person ever. A seemingly pathetic and dependent kind of woman, Noire may surprise you with her extensive knowledge as a scholar in academics and in the ways of magic. Not only able to solve complex puzzles but experiment with her own type of magic as well. She’s quite observant and frequently uses her skills to plan ahead. Her skill set allows her to be adaptable in any situation and be resourceful when needed. She’s also a caring person who knows the right words to say. That is, when she could get them out. Noire often second-guesses her decisions and isn’t very confident in her own abilities. She’s soft-spoken and would rather follow the leader than lead herself. The little girl is kind of a downer and is pretty weak, in terms of brute and emotional strength. But when the situation calls for it, Noire is capable of handling herself and ready to unleash her full potential.

With her siblings, Noire cares for them deeply and depends on them. She enjoys their company and supports their endeavors. Considering they’re older than her, Noire trusts their judgment to a certain degree and many of their personalities rub off on her. She feels like she could be as confident as she wants to be around her family, rather than her normal, nervous personality. If anything terrible would happen to them, she’ll do anything it takes to solve the problem. She claims that one day, she'll be the assertive leader she dreams of.

Backstory:
Being born as the official runt of the Cainhurst siblings, it’s surprising how much attention she was given as a child. Many of the recent Cainhurst offspring were either stillborn or very sickly to live. Compared to them, Noire was the sole survivor and was made sure she was protected at all costs. Servants, and even guards, had to ensure Noire’s safety. She couldn’t meet any stranger and the only friends she had were her siblings. It wasn’t too bad though, as she loved her siblings’ company and frequently studied anything she could. She excelled in her studies but nothing too significant in physical activities.

While she received praise and love, Noire takes any criticism of her ability to heart. Being surrounded by her family, it affected her socializing ability and inability to be very confident around strangers. Harsh judgment from strangers and overprotection of her life made Noire the most emotional and anxious Cainhurst of the siblings.

Hometown: Blackrock

Items & Personal Belongings:
Noire has developed her own weapon, the MorphInk. An ink-like construct of dark magic with the potential to morph into any kind of weapon. So far, the MorphInk can morph into a broadsword, a scythe, and a whip. She owns a zombie cat named Zippy, a necromanced cat created with the guidance of her elder siblings.

Abilities:
Noire often plays mind games and uses trickster-style strategies as a way to make up for her lack of strength. Unknowingly, Noire works best when the odds are stacked against her. Noire is well versed in almost all kinds of magic, using them for whichever situation calls for them. However, the type of dark magic she excels at are: illusions, dark concussive blasts, and enhancement magic.

Weaknesses:
With regard to brute strength, Noire lacks it. She’s very anxious and second-guesses her actions so it can be easy to influence her.

Name: Shizuka Gozen
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Role: Noble
Race: Oni

PERSONAL
Sexuality:
Heterosexual
High Concept: Heir to an oni tribe scorned as a runt that relies on magic and manipulation rather than brute strength.
Personality: Being unable to keep up physically with his own kind has forced Shizuka to be on the lookout for danger to the point of paranoia and he is only able to feel truly safe when in complete control either through his magical prowess or more subtle manipulations. As a consequence of his trust issues Shizuka rarely considers another person a friend instead of temporary allies preferring to instead dote on his favourite chimeras.

His desire to compensate for his initial weakness takes the form of perfectionism leading him to obsessively work to improve his creations and the augmentations to his own body.

Backstory: The Gozen tribe were once the so called scourge of Hinokah roaming the land being driven away from wherever they settled out of fear of their great strength and powerful elemental magic and occasionally raiding settlements. Eventually the Hinokah raised armies to wipe them out entirely forcing the tribe to flee to Hollowvale and swear loyalty to Ulfic Cainhurst in exchange for being allowed to settle around Dawnfall and use their experience fighting Hinokah to help guard the border.

Less than a year after their arrival in Hollowvale Shizuka was born to the tribe chieftain, hoped to be a symbol of their new prosperity the unusually small and sickly child was declared a bad omen by those in the tribe that felt that they had disgraced themselves by bending the knee to a human for safety. As time passed it became apparent that the child would be all but crippled, Shizuka instead turned his efforts to learning magic and immersed himself in disciplines that the oni had previously not encountered taking a particular interest in the use of alchemy and physical augmentation magic to create chimeras crafting ever more powerful beasts as tools to accomplish feats he could not.

The straightforward nature of many of the oni left Shizuka under no illusions as to what his fellows thought of him and he often took refuge in the more polite high society of Dawnfall, quickly finding the nobility far more cutthroat than his own people he was initially dismayed but realised this was a game he could play and he learned to play it well.

As his magical skill grew he turned his attention from experimenting with beasts to improving his own dysfunctional body, via a combination of enchantments specifically created for his body and direct transplantation of some internal organs Shizuka was at last able to overcome his disabilities.

While he at last had the strength he once lacked Shizuka was still the black sheep among the oni and was distrusted for the scheming ways he had picked up from the other races. To take advantage of his skills and improve the tribe's standing in Hollowvale Shizuka was sent to Blackrock as their emissary within the Hollow King's court.

Lord Sepulcher X of Dreadmoor
The Tenth Sepulcher

gOGE2E5.png

Name:
Sepulcher X of Dreadmoor
(Sep)

Level:
42

Age:
33

Gender:
Male

Role:
Dark Court Noble

Race:
Human

Sexuality:
Heterosexual

High Concept:
The tenth successor of the Sepulcher lineage and an influential Dark Court noble, Sepulcher is responsible for a fraction of the kingdom's skeletal army production.

Personality:
Unlike his father before him, Sep sports a vastly contrasting look on life in Hollowvale. Rather than trying to keep the tradition, Sep has always been adventurous in his own rights, albeit counterproductive due to being confined to his family's estate since a young age. As a result, Sep is estranged to the common etiquette and the likes, sparing his address of others. Sep is a researcher, like his father and forefathers before him. He judges the pros and cons, tactful of where to insert himself, but can be sporadic at times. He has a knack for cynical statements, while keeping a down-to-earth attitude towards others - viewing everyone as equals.

Sep dislikes bureaucratic and political intrigues within the court, preferring to defer from the talks and rather return to his work. Manipulative individuals tend to find themselves running in circles of his nonsensical counter-queries and distracting social games. A little method he picked up in the Dark Court, one that he abuses to keep others from asking him favors. On the other hand, Sep is also a straight-forward person, dealing everything in absolutes, rather than a pending consideration. A hypocrite and a teasing individual, but Sep takes his work and the welfare of his Hollowvale residents very serious, especially the Cainhurst family's will. Rather than "submitting" in fear, Sep sees the Cainhurst's employment of his family's service as an opportunity to continue his family's legacy, and to continue practicing his necromancy - a strictly business relationship.

Behind his bony mask and intimidating attire, the man actually enjoy botany and walking his undead dog on the cold northern shore. Sep is first and foremost a seeker of knowledge, so anything that can be studied will peak his interests. The man is also very talkative when one unfortunately stumbles upon his favorite subjects.

Backstory:
The Sepulcher family has always been the sole supplier of weaker, but mass-produced undead army for Hollowvale since the Vampire Invasion some two hundred years past. Their specialty? Skeleton soldiers. Easier to conjure, mass-produced, albeit mostly serving as fodders, but they do their job nice and well for two whole centuries. The Sepulcher lineage has a distinct naming of their next of kin by numbers rather than names. As such, the tenth successor of the Sepulcher lineage now holds an "X" mark on his mask. No matter who they served in the past, by what methods they derive, or to whomever their blades may descend, they would be known and seen simply as the "Sepulcher". Such was the tradition of the Sepulchers, an ode to their profound symbolic beliefs that all men are the same, it is actions that speaks for them, rather than deceitful expressions. Despite his menacing apparel, the current Sep is very much human in physiques, though the only time one would see his face is when he pass. Like his father Sepulcher IX and his forefathers before him, Sep now carries the burden of his family's responsibilities.

Sep had to learn of his family's work, particularly the mastery of basic and advanced necromancy as he came of age. But rather than extending their research to other fields, the Sepulchers were keen on their traditions with skeletal undeads rather than those that retains their flesh. And like that of their unorthodox practice of necromancy, Sep became increasingly at odds with his father as he turned twenty. Sep despised the intrigues of the court, despite his father's wishes to put him there. Eventually, he learnt to take on a facade to smile, but never bend. Even when his father passed, Sep still held onto his own look on things since he came of age. Rather than dancing to the minuets given unto them at court, Sep just wanted to retire from the Dark Court and immerse in his studies, perhaps travel even. But even an influential or distinguished noble in the Dark Court must abide by their sworn fealty and oath to the Cainhurst family.

Where he found himself a prisoner of the court, Sep turned to his research. Hopefully, something worthwhile of his meticulous work with necromancy will earn him a furlough for the rest of his life. Or something worth his intrigues. Make no mistakes, Sep still owe his allegiances to the Cainhursts, and will carry out his duties to the letter.

Hometown:
Dreadmoor

Appearance:
Bone mask, horned hood, dark armor and robes, accompanied by a pair of glowing cerulean eyes. A skull pendant that glows upon his chest. These are the trademarks of the Tenth Sepulcher.
74gWXku.png

Items & Personal Belongings:
+ [Solomon] - Sepulcher's great sword
+ [Salient] - a grimoire that can be used to reflect visions of Sepulcher's undeads, allowing him to see what they see.
+ Journal that contains research notes.

Abilities:
Sepulcher particularly excels in skeletal studies and advanced reanimation of corpses. Alteration and modification of an undead's body gives him a creative array of offensive and defensive choices to utilize on the field. Aside from alteration and conjuration magic, Sepulcher is also a decent sword user. Not the best, but not the worst.

Weaknesses:
Despite his studious ways, Sepulcher suffers from overclocking himself with different trains of thoughts. As such, he can be absent-minded at times and very vulnerable to even the slightest distraction - especially when he is commanding legions of skeleton soldiers.
Sepulcher can't swim, in addition to a certain fear of being eaten by a giant sea monster.

Name: Derwin Shaw (known to many as the Bloodwing, or, less commonly nowadays, "Derwin of the Wastes")

Level: Derwin: 50; Athena: 35

Age: 37

Gender: Male

Role: Captain of the Bloodguards

Race: Human

Sexuality: heterosexual

High Concept: A wyvern rider of extreme martial and magical skill; beloved by the masses, he is highly competent, a dedicated knight, unyielding and merciless on the battlefield, but fairly easygoing and personable to talk to otherwise.

Personality: He is the embodiment of a chivalrous, dedicated knight. Highly loyal, he rarely questions orders even if he has personal doubts about them; he believes it is not the role of a knight to do so. As captain of the Bloodguards, his top priority is the safety of the Cainhurst royals, which he considers his life's purpose.

Though he is merciless in battle, he is a fairly easygoing person to talk to in a casual setting. He enjoys easy banter, a nice conversation over drinks (though never to excess), and helping others when he can.

He is a chivalrous person with a personal code of ethics he tries his best to adhere to at all times and in all things. It includes things such as helping the needy, always being respectful (especially to women), treating others as he wants to be treated, and, especially, doing one's duty, no matter the personal cost.

Training and personal fitness are very important to him. Even off duty, he can often be found at the training grounds keeping his skills sharp.

He has a strong affinity for animals. They tend to flock to him without him having to do anything special, and he has a soft spot for strays.

Highly dedicated to his wyvern, Athena. He spends every waking moment with her that he is able to. The bond between Derwin and his mount is stronger than the one he shares with his own family and friends.

He would never say so out loud, nor complain, but he is secretly becoming increasingly worried about the King's erratic and overly cruel behavior of late. This would not stop him from carrying out any order the King or his other superiors gave, though it may keep him up at night depending on what he is forced to do.

Backstory:

Derwin was born to a middle class farmer in the suburbs of Crowhaven. His father's line has lived in Hollowvale since ancient times. His parents learned of his propensity for magic early on; at the age of 8, he was already not only helping on the farm, but also casting reincarnation magic to create servants to help maintain it. The farm's productivity increased dramatically as a result. Derwin did not particularly like reanimating corpses, but he enjoyed the simple life on the farm, and he especially enjoyed working with and riding horses. When he was 16, his mother and father insisted he leave the farm for Blackrock to enlist for knighthood. He had the skill for it, and, dedicated to the royal family as they were, they told him it was his duty to use his natural gifts for the betterment of his country. Besides that, as a knight, he would have far more opportunity for a decent life doing work for the royal family than he would if he remained a simple farmer. Derwin did not want to go at first, preferring to live a simple life as a farmer like his father and grandfather and great grandfather before him, but he was eventually forced to bow to his family's wishes.

When he arrived at Blackrock, he was enlisted as a recruit and shipped off to the Western town of Dawnfall, where he worked as a squire to older, more experienced knights tasked with guarding the border. Given his history on a farm, he proved an able rider without any training at all. He was a quick learner, rapidly picking up the basics of sword, axe, bow, and spear. He had a particular liking for fighting with a sword and that has since been his weapon of choice, though he is capable of using just about anything as a weapon effectively. It was also clear early on in his career that Derwin had a strong skill with magic. He could use very basic reincarnation magic as he'd done at home, but as he learned more, he quickly came to prefer using fire magic more than any other. He found hurling fireballs from the back of a fast moving horse to be very effective in combat, precluding the need to bring a bow and arrow. He could also use it in less conventional ways: causing eruptions of earth under enemies' feet, heating enemies' armor to cook them inside of it, or creating walls of flame to protect allies or limit an opposing force's options for approach.

He was officially knighted by King Ulfric in his 20th year and he was stationed in a sizeable outpost fort just outside the Dread Wastes, an assignment feared by all. He was responsible for protecting travelers in the area, as well as keeping the undead hordes and unholy creatures native to the Wastes from causing trouble for people outside of it. He manned this station for 6 years. In his 22nd year, he had distinguished himself enough that he was put in charge of the fort, and of military operations around and about the Wastes in general. It was a great honor as he thought of it, but one no one in their right mind envied him for. In these early years of his military service, he became known as "Derwin of the Wastes." At the time, it was a name used as much or more for mocking him than for honoring him.

At some point during his time in the Wastes, he received reports from a scout that there was a convoy of treasure hunters caught deep in the swamp, surrounded by undead zombies and fearsome monsters. He quickly gathered a group of 20 seasoned knights and made his way into the mire where reports had placed the unfortunate adventurers. It is unclear what happened during this encounter, but when Derwin returned from the expedition, none of the men he left with were alive. Derwin was down an eye, blood gushing from the socket where it had once been, and he was riding a wicked-looking blood-red dragon bareback instead of the horse he left on. When asked what happened, Derwin would simply say the mission had been accomplished at great cost, though he never told anyone exactly what occurred nor how he met his new companion, whom he called Athena. On the back of a flying dragon, Derwin's already proficient combat capabilities were multiplied many times over; he became a nearly invincible force of nature. His enemies came to fear the heavy sound of a wyvern's wings or the piercing screech of its cry in the air, knowing that a rain of magical fire would soon follow. To hear the harbingers of Commander Shaw's approach was to know with certainty that you were going to die, no questions asked.

When word of Derwin's new combat capabilities reached Blackrock, he was monitored closely. His talents, as the higher-ups saw it, were now wasted where he was. It was decided he was of more use closer to home. So it was that, in his 26th year, Derwin was recalled from the Wastes and initiated into the Bloodguard, the most elite soldiers in all of Hollowvale. His duty became the safety of the royal family, one he considered an honor and carried out with surpassing skill and dedication. Over the next ten years, he constantly distinguished himself as an unyielding servant of the Cainhursts, both as a shield to protect the royal family and as one of the strongest and most feared weapons at their disposal to carry out their will throughout the kingdom. In Derwin's 34th year, the former captain of the Bloodguard passed away and, it having been no secret that she preferred Derwin to succeed her despite his young age, the Dragon Rider was officially recognized by the king as the new Captain of the Bloodguard and gifted with the sacred blade of his former captain, Gurgurant, a symbol of his office and of the trust that the Cainhursts place in his abilities.

Since returning to Blackrock, Derwin's frequent flights to and from Blackrock over the city of Crowhaven have caught the imagination of the common masses. He is known to them as Bloodwing, a nickname they coined themselves for Athena's crimson color, and he is romanticized as a symbol of a perfect knighthood. The tale of a common son of a farmer from Crowhaven rising to captain of Blackrock's most elite knights, as well as his friendly demeanor with everyone no matter their station and his wyvern partner's gentle disposition and love of attention, has caused his popularity all across Hollowvale to skyrocket.

Hometown: Crowhaven

Items and Personal Belongings:

The Sacred Sword Gurgurant. A massive, magical greatsword of supernatural strength and durability. Enhances Derwin's already frightening magical capabilities when in his possession. Presented to Derwin when he was promoted to Captain of the Bloodguards.

1590475012037.png

Athena: Not a possession, per se, but his wyvern is named Athena. He flies her into battle, or really just to anywhere he wants to go. She is as deadly in battle as any weapon, with razor sharp claws and fangs capable of tearing armor, and animalistic instincts for killing and maiming that make her a force to be reckoned with, rider or no. Claws and fangs are highly poisonous; a mere scratch to unprotected skin can cause death within hours if not treated quickly and effectively. Like her rider, she is gentle and personable outside of battle. She enjoys attention, love, and adoration from anywhere she can get it. As dedicated to and protective of Derwin as he is of her.

Abilities:

Derwin is skilled with all weapons commonly used in warfare, including but not limited to: sword, axe, bow, lance, mace, etc.. That said, his personal weapon of preference is the blade, specifically the longsword or the greatsword, which are large and long enough to use effectively from dragonback, and that is what he will use in a fight if all other things are equal and he has a choice.

He has an uncommon talent for magic, honed by years of training, study, and service. He can reanimate corpses on a basic level, and can use most forms of magic to a sufficient degree. He is knowledgeable enough that he can recognize what other mages are doing just by watching them cast, usually. His main specialty is generating heat and fire with magic, which he uses to great effect both on and off his mount.

He is an incredible rider. He was renowned among new recruits for his prowess on horseback before he met Athena. From atop his wyvern, this skill serves him well. He can scout from on high without being easily detected if no one is looking up. He can attack from on high, launching fireballs or arrows at enemies, or even just dropping heavy stones from high up onto large clumps of enemy groups, all without risking serious counterattack from anyone but ranged attackers such as bowmen or other mages. He is incredibly maneuverable, making him difficult to hit despite Athena's large size. He can quickly swoop in and attack with a swipe of his greatsword, or even rescue an ally in trouble, then retreat from danger in the blink of an eye.

Athena herself is as deadly, or probably even more deadly, than Derwin with his blade; if she gets her jaws on an enemy, she can devour them mid-flight in a few bites, armor or no, and retreat back in the air to safety from counterattack as she does so. Her claws and jaws are strong enough to rend through most types of armor easily. She secretes venom from her jaws and claws so that even if one suffers merely a scratch, they will be dead in short order without immediate medical attention. She does not even have to use these, however; her heavy weight and large size mean that she can just smash into enemies at high speed from the air, and they will likely be crushed to death before they even know what is happening.

Defensively, Athena has scaly skin that serves as extremely tough natural armor. Most attacks, with a few notable exceptions, will bounce off of her with minimal damage, unless they hit the right spot, a relatively difficult feat on a fast moving dragon in mid-air.

Weaknesses:

Derwin and Athena are weak to any attack that can reliably reach and hit them. Arrows and other magic users are particularly troublesome for them, as arrows can injure Athena's wings to the point that she cannot fly or attack, and magic is capable of piercing her tough hide where most ordinary weapons would simply bounce off.

Derwin is an amazing flier, but he is not perfect. If he were knocked off Athena while high up and hit the ground from a very great height, he would risk grave injury or death with relatively little recourse. He is also much more vulnerable to most forms of attack than his dragon is; an arrow or sword or spear that would bounce off of Athena has a much higher chance of hurting Derwin himself if his armor does not protect him adequately.

Athena is very sturdy, with a hide that protects her from most sharp objects, but certain small areas of her underbelly, as well as her limb joints, wings, eyes and the inside of her nose and ears, are vulnerable if an archer is able to hit them (difficult, but possible if lucky or exceptionally skilled or firing as part of a large volley). Magical attacks, as noted, are also very effective no matter where they hit, as Athena's tough hide provides her no defense against it. The duo's only hope is to dodge magical attacks and destroy their source before the damage they cause becomes unmanageable.

If Derwin is not mounted on Athena, though far from helpless, he is a lot more vulnerable to attack than when he is with his companion. Similarly, Athena, though still highly dangerous, is not as effective in combat when separated from Derwin; neither wyvern nor rider are as capable alone as the two are together.

The pair is also limited indoors or in tight, cramped quarters where Athena cannot move well due to her larger size.

Albert Crow
Cainhurst Head Steward
1590451648465.png
Age: Unknown, rumored to be more than a century.

Gender: Male

Role: Spymaster(Secretly), Ulfric's Personal Butler, Cainhurst Head Steward

Race: Human

PERSONAL

Sexuality:
Asexual

High Concept: The Shadow of Cainhurst, loyal to the family to the end.

Personality: Albert is someone hard to read, you never know what he is feeling nor his intentions. A perfectionist who always does things elegantly and usually in secret. He doesn't like being in the spotlight and would prefer to be the hands behind the curtains. He does his best to maintain order in the castle and ensure the children maintain the pride of the Cainhurst. Logical, rational, and realistic. A ruthless pragmatic who never let emotions dictate his actions. Alred does things his own way and he would never budge if it is something detrimental to the family.

Albert likes doing his job, as simple as that. Those who dare obstruct him are dealt with appropriately. As the House Steward, he values order and is pretty much unsatisfied when something is in disarray. He appreciates diligence and scorn laziness. He dislikes people who do not do their job properly and put their all to it.

Backstory:
Ulfric's personal butler, the Head Steward of Blackrock, somebody who seems insignificant to the outside in the grand scheme of things if not for the fact that he is always by Ulfric's side but he is much more than what meets the eye. He has stood by the Cainhurst Patriarch since the beginning and shed much blood, sweat, and tears to help the Cainhurst Family achieve its current position. Albert has always acted as the Cainhurst shadow, operating secretly in the dark to dispatch threats externally and internally, maintain and expand the intelligence network of the family, and ensure that internal matters of the family are running smoothly. But nobody knows much or any at all of his secret sides aside from Ulfric and his personal circle.

Albert as the Main Steward has vetted all of Ulfric's mistress and took care of his children. He taught them everything about politics, being a noble, and seldomly magic. He is impartial to all the children and only wishes for the most capable to succeed Ulfric and take on the mantle as the family head.

MORE TO BE ADDED IF ONE WISHES TO BE PART OF HIS BACKSTORY.

Hometown: Unknown, likely from outside Hollowvale.

PHYSICAL

Items & Personal Belongings:

Pandora's Cane - A special relic that could act as a magical staff and has the ability to transform into a sword for melee combat.

Red Valkyrie - Albert's most powerful and special marionette, a dwarven relic armor baptized with the blood and flesh of all enemies he deemed 'worthy' in the past. A true masterpiece as he would call it. Aside from the ability to act independently, it can also merge with Albert when necessary.

Pandora's Amulet - A spatial storage amulet that he usually stores his marionettes and other items in.

Abilities: An expert in multiple kinds of magic, he specializes in Blood, Shadow, and more so in Thread. His ability to manipulate physical and spiritual threads allowed him to practice a special kind of necromancy which he calls 'Marionette Necromancy' where he controls living, dead, or inanimate things like a marionette. Blackrock is always full of his marionettes, from maids to animals. You wouldn't know that the maid you just met in the hallway or the cat that jumped off a railing were just puppets under his control. Albert is also a decent fighter.

Level: Albert, 50; Red Valkyrie, 60

Weaknesses: Absolute loyalty to the family, something beneficial or dangerous for both him and the family members.

LADY LUCREZIA
THE FIRST MAIDEN | THE BLACK RAVEN
(wip)

Level

72

Age
110

Gender
Female

Role
Dark Maiden

Race
Elf

PERSONAL

Sexuality

Heterosexual

High Concept
The commander of the Dark Maidens and Ulfric's oldest servant.

Personality
"Try to pretend like you understand what's important."
Beautiful and Brilliant, Lucrezia is a popular figure among the influential of the Black Court. She's charming, with a mean streak of humor suited to the twists and turns of Hollowvale's political system. To those she has no interest in she tends to be cold, apathetic and dismissive. To prove oneself of interest to the First Maiden is to show rare uniqueness after all. She believes herself to be the strongest in Hollowvale, which is possibly true, and can sometimes be slow to take threats to her own safety seriously. Usually because she's too busy laughing. She does however take insults towards her Master incredibly seriously and considers it a personal affront that any inferior creature would dare even contemplate such an act - crushing them with extreme prejudice.

Lucrezia has served Ulfric so long that she is not afraid to voice her true opinion to him if she feels it is required. The pair have even argued on occasion, which is not something one usually dares to even conceive of doing with the Dark Lord. Like her master, Lucrezia values strength above all else - believing she has the right to lead and guide the weak who are incapable of doing it themselves. She works hard, often to the point of falling asleep at her desk in her office during rare quiet moments. Focused and thoughtful, Lucrezia approaches problems with a calm and level head - a useful trait amongst her more hot-headed sisters.

The First Maiden has several hobbies outside of what one would expect from such a individual including a rather surprising love for cooking. She even developed a rather surprisingly fond friendship with the head chef of Blackrock, the the pair have created several dishes together. She fondly recalls the time she arrived in the Castle kitchen for the first time and the Head Chef immediately believed he had displeased his lords, quickly grabbing one of the larger carving knifes and attempting to slit his own throat before Lucrezia stopped him. He never finds the story particularly funny.

Backstory
Lucrezia, also known as the Black Raven or The Harbinger, is Ulfric's right hand and founder of the Dark Maidens. The Dark Lord's oldest and strongest servant, Lucrezia is renowned for her incredible magical strength and brilliance. Shrouded by countless rumors that are absurd, but hard to refute.

Standing by Ulfric's side since the end of the Vampire Wars, Lucrezia played an instrumental role in the unification of Hollowvale and the creation of an independent government. Hailing from an Elvish village far to the West, Lucrezia was only a child when she was saved from the burning wreckage of her family home by Ulfric himself. Sensing her innate magical ability, he took Lucrezia under his wing and was quickly impressed by his new student's hunger for knowledge.

The Dark Lord's most trusted Agent, Lucrezia is adept at many roles. She has spent years as a competent and respected dignitary to other tribes, cities and the Dwarves of Magruhdul - but has also served as Ulfric's chief enforcer and Inquisitor - rooting out those who would dare trifle with her Master; Though she sometimes mourns she doesn't really get to "cut loose" like she used to like in the good old days.

Lucrezia's main role - and a cherished one at that - is one of a Sorceress and scientist. She values knowledge above all else and is willing to sacrifice anyone and everyone in the need of pursuit of it. Well informed prisoners of the Cainhurst's fear becoming part of Lucrezia's experiments most of all, with nightmarish tales whispered of the terrible things that happen within her laboratories deep inside the castle's catacombs. None ever return. Her experiments have enjoyed great success - discovering new forms of Undead, weaponry and more ethereal secrets of the Arcane.

Her greatest work however, is perhaps the formation of the Dark Maidens. The ultimate physical embodiment of what dark magic can achieve: the Maidens. Lucrezia - not to balk from responsibility or ask from others what she was not prepared to do herself, performed the ritual on herself first; becoming the first Maiden and elevating her already impressive power to truly demonic levels. Albeit at the great cost of her Soul - which Lucrezia didn't seem to mind at all - Impressed with the results, Ulfric immediately demanded more of these powerful servants, and the Order of Dark Maidens was born.

A somewhat rare sight in the halls of Blackrock due to her demanding schedule, Lucrezia spends as much time in her laboratory as she can - though she always makes time for her fellow Dark Maidens, who she views as family and the Cainhurst children, of whom she sometimes acts as a advisor when requested.

Hometown
Blackrock, though she was born to the far west.

PHYSICAL

Demon Form
"Pride"

Level 80

1379043442604.jpg

Abilities
The strongest of the Maidens and Chief enforcer, the raw magical strength of Lucrezia is quite extraordinary - perhaps almost as great at the Dark Lord himself.
While a master of several schools of magic and a formidable opponent from any possible range or direction, her true strength is that of all Maidens: the ability to undergo a radical transformation into a stronger demonic form. Hers is simply named "Pride."
An echo of the Angels that have long abandoned Aether, Lucrezia's Demon form shines resplendently in golden armor. She often laments she is unable to find a worthy adversary to use her true power against, and hasn't had a need to use her full strength since the Unification war.

Weaknesses
Truly an aspect of Pride, Lucrezia tends to underestimate those who she has dismissed as unworthy of her time - and in Ulfric's own words "Tends to play with her food too much."

Character Sheet
BASIC INFORMATION
Name:

Clarisse Laxei
Level:
30
Age:
21?
At least fifty five, as she was a young child when the vampires lost the war and perished, but hasn't seemed to age since she was twenty-one.
Gender:
Female
Role:
Nuisance Aspiring noble?
Race:
Dhampir (Half-vampire)

<3

PERSONAL
Sexuality:

Pansexual Demiromantic
High Concept:
A Dhampir trying to climb the social ladder despite her heritage.
Personality:
It could be said that Clarisse's defining feature is fear. The memory of the Vampire war has not yet completely faded and so a girl with fangs and a need to drink blood would be looked at with suspicion wherever she went - and worse. Beneath the smugness of her facade, there lurks trauma that leaves her waking up in the night gasping for breath.
She doesn't trust easily, and in fact, will go out of her way to avoid a situation where she must rely on others, with her strongest distaste being centred towards romantic relationships. Her first relationship turned out to be with an aspiring vampire slayer trying to get close to her and ever since, she's held a strong wariness, bordering on fear to the whole concept. Making it even worse, she didn't have a good relationship with her mother and as a mother is meant to be one who loves unconditionally, Clarisse ended up telling herself that the reason she was rejected by her mother and has yet to have a successful romantic relationship is simply that - who could love a halfbreed monster like her?

A self-loathing streak a mile wide is hidden behind a polite, demure facade. She plays sweet and innocent, dressing in pastel fabrics and smiling in a way that doesn't show her fangs - if one doesn't look too closely, her pointed ears could lead someone to believe she's an elf (in fact, her mother was, so it's not entirely untrue) until they catch a glimpse of her fangs, and this is a misconception that she doesn't mind, and will even encourage. However, if someone realises what she really is, or the half of it at least, she won't deny it.

With her avoidance of romantic relationships and close friendships, Clarisse is quite touch starved and has a tendency to be clingy. She finds it fun to flirt with people despite her feelings around emotional intimacy, physical intimacy is always a fun diversion. As time has dragged on and she's grown more and more bitter, she started to find it fun to intentionally lead people on and break their hearts.
She has no issue lying or manipulating others into doing what she wants, especially when it involves flirting with them and convincing them that they have a connection, so can't they just do one teensy favour for her?~
She's not necessarily hungry for power in and of itself, but she does want to be safe, and she sees the easiest way to do that as gaining power. And the easiest way she can see to do that is getting close to the Cainhurst's. She's actually very keen on learning new things and can also be fascinated by some new show of magic or a book that she has yet to read, but so far her desire to learn is taking a backseat to her need for power. She does, however, try to take time to read when she can and writes in neat cursive.
Backstory:
She hardly remembers the war. She was too young to be involved and the vampire lord's bastard daughter was kept sequestered away in small quarters in one of the larger human cities, hidden right under the enemy's nose. The fall of the vampires came, and her mother - an elven sorceress - insisted that the young girl remain inside, where her discomfort in sunlight and sharp teeth couldn't be noticed, making excuses to all who knew she had a daughter - "Oh, she's sickly, the healer's say it's not good for her to be outside too much."

Their relationship was always strained, her mother always resenting being saddled with the halfbreed, and it only got worse as the power vampires were known for simply failed to manifest. Clarisse never seemed especially stronger or faster than any other child her age, despite how she complained of burning hunger even after eating, a hunger that could only be sated by blood. In some ways, Clarisse was more like a vampire, in others... She was weaker even than an elven child.
Her mother's claims of her being sickly weren't as baseless as first thought.

She spent a lot of time as a child ill, feverish or the opposite, dead cold with her heartbeat slowed right down and shivering as if her very bones had been frozen over.
That didn't change until the day she "died".

People had been going missing, the sorceress stealing them away to sate her daughter's appetite and she couldn't get away with it forever, and when Clarisse was only nineteen, her mother left one ay and simply didn't come back. It took a few days for her to get up the courage to leave the four walls she had known her whole life. There was some trial and error, the young dhampir not quite realising at first that she didn't need to drain her victim's dry, but after a few weeks, everything seemed to be going her way. Indeed, three years down the line, she had a reputation as a sweet, if a bit naive girl who still spent most of her time inside, but was always polite to any neighbours she happened to bump into.

That's where the wannabe vampire hunter came in. A year or two younger than her, he remembered even less of the war than she, but he knew that if he could bring in a vampire's head he would be praised, and so he tried to get close to her. She hadn't even had a friend her own age before, much less someone who complimented her and brought her pretty gifts. It was easy enough to trick her into giving him her wholehearted trust - and her heart.
Luckily for her, he had been so determined to surprise those he knew with her head, he hadn't even done his research right, using an ordinary sword when he tried to kill her - a strike that missed the mark, but still struck deep, not slicing through her neck but biting deep into her chest.
She should have bled out.
She would have bled out if she were human.

But she lived, in a way. Her heart stopped, that's true, but she got up, wound closing and the sting of betrayal running deep - that's when she discovered the two vampire talents she does have. A healing factor and the power of suggestion. As he came in for a second strike, she begged for him to stop and for a moment, the suggestion took hold and he froze. Without hanging around to see how long it lasted, she fled.
Since then, she hasn't been as sickly, but she seems to be more vampiric than before. Her skin grew colder, her pulse was even slower than before and her appetite for blood increased while she gained a low tolerance for regular sustenance. She can eat some normal food, but too much makes her ill, and certain tastes now seem overpowering as her sense of smell, taste, sight and hearing have grown stronger.

She didn't know where to go - even Hollowvale, the supposed home of all darker creatures had turned on the vampires, but with little choice, she headed to Crowhaven. Her forebears had been hurt by the 'people' closest to them in nature, but it certainly seemed after there than in the lands claimed by the Light. On her journey to get to Hollowvale, she found herself in more skirmishes and only grew to distrust people even more. Even in Crowhaven, she doesn't feel entirely safe, and after a few decades of simply laying low, she's trying to find her way into the court, trying to make friends with nobles and form bonds that could help her in her ambitions to secure a position of safety for herself - no matter who she has to drag down along the way.
Hometown:
Was born outside Hollowvale but came to settle in Crowhaven - never really considered herself to have much of a home where she came from anyway.

<3

PHYSICAL
Appearance:

1590541401600.png
(Image isn't perfect, but it's close enough)
Her hair is actually a very pale blonde, but one could be forgiven for mistaking it for silver, as it's almost white in tone, mostly straight but with the slightest curl at the bottom, where it hits the small of her back. It's usually kept in a waterfall braid, but in more casual settings she leaves it loose or just ties it back so it doesn't fall in her face. Her eyes are usually a very pale shade of violet, wide and somewhat glassy and doll-like, but when she's angry or deprived of blood they can turn blood red.
She's always been small and slight and that's unlikely to change now as she no longer grows - unfortunate for her as she's just barely an inch over five feet tall and abysmal at walking in heels.
She almost always wears pastel colours, pink and purple being her favourites, always just a bit too sheer or short or low cut (not that there's even anything to reveal as she is pretty much flat-chested) to be technically appropriate.
Items & Personal Belongings:
Notebooks - a small array of small books filled with cursive notations, mainly just things she found interesting enough to want to remember, though some hold plans
Trophies - Some might accuse her of being sentimental if they found the small treasure trove of love letters and trinkets Clarisse has in her possession, when in fact, it's quite the opposite. The way some people will give away their heart is pretty amusing to her and she keeps these trophies as a reminder of the hearts she won - and destroyed.
Abilities:
Healing factor - She can heal most injuries, though she cannot regenerate limbs, so if her head gets lopped off, that's it. She can reattach say, a hand or leg if the limb in question is returned to her, however. She can't heal wounds made by fire, and the more serious the injury the longer it takes for her to be up to full health. If she hasn't drunk enough blood she'll struggle to heal in a timely manner, if at all and the longer a wound takes to heal the more likely it is to scar.
Suggestion - Using her voice she can compel others to do things, or believe something that isn't true. It works best on addled minds, hence why her usual hunting method is to find a (preferably good looking) drunk stranger at a bar, seduce them away from other people, bite them (among other things) and then convince them that they were never bitten, it was just a normal night. Someone sober would be less susceptible to it, and someone with a strong mind or conviction may not even falter at all. Overuse quickly drains her and can make her feel queasy or drowsy.
Smooth tongue - A master of lies and flattery, she's very good at getting what she wants
Immortality (?) - She doesn't seem to age and even when people around her have colds and the like, she seems immune though she doesn't know whether this will last forever and she'll just live until killed or whether she is actually on some kind of clock. She is actually ageing, just very slowly - providing no one kills her she'll live about twice as long as an elf.
Strength boost - For a few hours after drinking blood, her strength is boosted to above-average human levels, as well as her speed. She doesn't always seem to know her own strength because of this, as she's usually fairly frail.
Weaknesses:
Fire - Vampires are weak to fire, and this is a weakness that she also holds
Light magic - She's not good at combat in general, but light magic seems to be extra effective against her
Sunlight won't kill her, but exposure gives her a headache and her skin burns easily. She can't easily use her power of suggestion in the sunlight.
Astraphobia - fear of storms
Difficulty relying on others means she often ends up alone
Lack of combat experience - Hand to hand combat is not her forte, and she has little talent for magic, meaning in a fight her best bet is... well, using someone else as a human shield.

Elazer Cainhurst
MS20160427_icon.jpg
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Role: Cainhurst Child
Race: Human
Level: 38

PERSONAL
Sexuality:
Pansexual

High Concept:
A uniquely skilled necromancer newly returned from a year long excursion into the Dread Wastes,
with the only thing keeping it from being considered a complete failure is the amazing prize that he's returned with.

Personality:
A man with apparently boundless energy, it would seem that Elazer's mind quite simply moves no less than ten paces ahead of the rest him, and everyone else. One moment Elazer will be speaking of the fundamentals of preserving a corpse for necromantic application, and the next he will have somehow accidentally lit the drapes on fire in his haste to grab a candle to use as an example of the basic principles of ecto-decomposition. Despite this exceptionally odd behavior, it would seem that Elazer is a true genius in the field of necromancy, expanding upon his peers work by being one of the first to use ectoplasm as a stabilizing compound between the flesh and foreign elements, examples being stitches or alloys.

Backstory:
Born from the coupling between Ulfric and a rather infamous necromancer by the name of Miryam Lordvina, it would seem that Elazer was practically destined for greatness in the field of necromancy, which the boy proved by mastering the basics of necromancy which normally take a year in less than a week. Acting quickly, it was decided that Elazer would be tutored by a number of the most renowned necromancers which included many notable peoples from across Hollowvale, the most outstanding of which being none other than his own mother, not that the boy had any of her true identity. So, the boy would spend almost every waking hour learning from the best necromantic minds the Cainhurst family could collect together, from ancient hags to battle hardened trolls, yet the boys favorite tutor was none other than Miryam Lordvina, who had begun perfecting the art of creating the Stitched with Elazer's aid.

Over the years, they would grow close, with Elazer viewing her almost like the mother who had never abandoned him. Yet this happiness would prove to be short lived. On the evening of his eighteenth birthday, just before what Elazer had thought would be a night spent finally finishing his teacher's greatest creation, Miryam would reveal to the young man that she was his birth mother, and that she could no longer stand by while her child was used and manipulated by his father. Elazer, not knowing how to react to such a revelation after years spent being told that his mother had abandoned them, lashed out uncontrollably, taking control of the mostly completed abomination and using it to slam Miryam into a number of highly unstable liquids and pieces of dangerous machinery, leading into a chain reaction that caused a large explosion which left Miryam dead and Elazer missing his left eye. Only a select few people know that those were the true events of that night, with many, even a majority of Elazer's own siblings, believing that it was simply a laboratory mishap. A few short years later, Elazer would find himself placed as the leader of an expedition into the Dread Wastes to try and find the source of the Abyss Undead, no matter the cost.

Armed with nothing but the tools of his trade and a simple sword in a scabbard, while accompanied by a single Dark Maiden and at best half a contingent of Bloodguard, Elazer felt largely certain that this would end up being a catastrophic failure, with the only positive being that he did want to see the Abyss Undead himself. And so, they sallied forward, only to disappear almost without a trace for an entire year, and was largely written off as dead by many who knew and cared for him. But now he is returning with a prize wheeled behind him and an idea stabbing into his skull like a hot poker.
Hometown: Blackrock Fortress

PHYSICAL
Items & Personal Belongings:

Due the the loss of his eye in the explosion that killed his mother, it has been replaced with a dwarven auto eye that has been custom outfitted for magnification and spectral observation. Outside of this rather inseparable mechanical object, the only other things Elazer has are a set of multiple scalpels, blades, and needles that were a gift from one of his old mentors, as well as a chipped and almost completely destroyed longsword.
Abilities:
A protege in the art of necromancy, Elazer is able to summon a vast horde of the undead with a fair bit of ease, and is a skilled "Necro-scientist", one who pushes on the edges of what is possible in the realm of necromancy. And last but not least, Elazer is actually an excellent medic and surgeon, from his years of practice on the dead.
Weaknesses:
Elazer is unskilled in the ways of actual combat, proving to be almost completely useless when faced with actually defending himself. Besides this, due to his pride as a "Necro-scientist", Elazer largely refuses to use normal undead, preferring to create an abomination. This pride is easily resolved, however, when faced with the possibility of death. Finally, Elazer is, without a doubt, not a people person, being a complete recluse when given the option, and due to his high skill in necromancy, it makes him rather paranoid. Plus, spending an entire year of his life in the middle of a massive murder swamp certainly didn't help with his already questionable mental state.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name:
Arkoth Von Urastar
Level: 44
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Role: Bloodguard
Race: Human

PERSONAL
Sexuality:
Bisexual
High Concept: Ambitious Gloryhound
Personality:
"Heheheheheeee, this is gonna be such fun!"
"Oh, please, is that all? I've seen skeletons with less predictable attacks!"

Brash, reckless, and with a somewhat childish sense of humor, Arkoth comes off as puzzling to many who encounter him. He is rather Diligent, and works hard to achieve his goals, but that, coupled with his intelligence and foresight, are pretty much all the positives one can list about him. He is utterly heedless of any perceived dangers, and "fear" doesn't seem to be word in his vocabularly, which is more often than not a detriment rather than an advantage. That being said, he is fairly friendly to those he encounters, and he's not particularly picky when it comes to making friends. Lastly, he is theatrical and over-the-top, and while he can be serious if he absolutely needs to be, it is something he avoids like the plague. He delights watching those not close to him confused, puzzled, and alarmed-it makes him feel better.

His moral values, too, are fickle, and nearly non-existent. There's very few things he won't do-In fact, he has an additional incentive to do the things he's not supposed to.

Backstory: It is often said that some men are born and fate smiles on them. They are born rich, powerful, amidst a family that can provide them with the best tutors they could ever hope to have. That they are born with an eye-catching visage, or a talent for sciences, magic, or social interaction. That they are born as a fulfillment of a great prophecy, they are chosen as the hero to defeat the dark lord.

Such stories always amused Arkoth. Born a noble bastard himself to a rather corrupt noble, it seems that fate had the exact opposite approach to him. Though legitimate, his siblings treated him no better than a commoner, often times even worse. His biological mother had been killed in a mysterious "accident", and to his new one, he was but a constant reminder of the husband's infidelity. His early childhood was nothing but continuous strife and abuse from all sides. Still, he persevered. It was not stoicism that allowed him to triumph, however, no. He simply learned to laugh at the absurdity of the world, at how needlessly...cruel it was. The comments of his siblings about how jarring it was for him to respond in such a manner only gave him more incentive to do it.

Despite this, he had not given up, unlike what it seemed-far from it. He trained as often as he could, hoping to one day be able to escape Vinistead and his suffocating home. He slowly but surely grew. Although his raw power was nowhere near what some of his siblings possessed, he realized that the talent he possessed was for foresight, for prediction-for even the most powerful of blows mean nothing if they strike air, even the most potent of bolts deal no damage if their casting is interrupted, and the biggest of undead hordes mean nothing if their master is dead. Tot his end he honed his fighting style to be able to predict and outwit his opponent as effectively as possible. His talents were noticed, and he was chosen to hold some small rank in the army. Now with access to proper training grounds and free from the constant abuse, he truly thrived, quickly growing in power and reputation. In addition, he had gained wealth, which he used to commission a custom enchanted item of considerable power. A deck of magical cards. However, his bizarre mannerisms were never gone, and this caused comrades and superiors alike to treat him with some contempt.

His break finally arrived years later, when he played a critical role in dismantling an uprising against Ulfric before it had gained much traction. For this, he caught the court's attention, and chosen as a bloodguard of Blackrock. Eager to ascend further, Arkoth now seeks another opportunity to improve his station...And finding some mates and distractions along the way doesn't hurt, either.

Items & Personal Belongings: He possesses a considerable amount of alcohol and other such substances amongst his possessions-they help him maintain his good mood.
He is armed with an enchanted double-bladed scimitar, which, on his command, folds onto itself to form a normal scimitar.
Has an enchanted deck of cards which is the main source of his magic, and fighting style. The regular cards created by it double as throwing weapons akin to enchanted throwing knives, but some empowered cards have different effects depending on their engraved runes. It is also capable of "copying" abilities cast near it with enough exposure, and stores them all as runes, from which more card designs can be made

Abilities: Physically, he is a well trained hybrid fighter. He does possess some strength and endurance, and so doesn't need to constantly rely on agility unlike many combatants of similar bulk. That being said, he is still rather agile, and uses that effectively by changing up his fighting style to confuse the opponent. His intuition and foresight have been honed extensively, and he is able to predict most opponent's moves to some degree, which allows him to counter effectively.

Magically, although his raw necromantic and magical prowess is somewhat limited, his true magic comes from his deck, and it is a rather intriguing one at that-he uses his cards as vessels for imprinting several different abilities and powers.. In addition, although he can make a vast repertoire of unique cards, he can channel the deck's copied designs to make abilities with similar themes as those he's encountered. It should be noted that although the theme is similar, the power level is not-using a design copied by someone with considerably more strength will not mimic the power level, merely the theme. Even with this limitation, he is afforded great versatility.

Amongst non-combat related things, he seems to possess considerable pain tolerance, a constitution that allows him to much more easily shake drink or drug, and an absolutely stunning sleight of hand, which out of combat is used for party tricks(and occasionally pickpocketing). He is also quite good at sneaking about.

Weaknesses: Many of the cards, although strong, have need of other cards to "combo" with, or some time to set up. It is easier to catch him out of position when he is attempting to fullfill these requirements as a result.

His fighting style largely revolves around planning ahead, and so, forcing him to react to something unpredictable or maintaining constant pressure on him is a good way to make him lose.

He is politically inept, and socially average-his odd mannerisms make him stand out and render him unlikely to have many allies that are not of a similar mindset.
He is reckless and extremely impulsive, to the point where many wonder if he even cares about his own wellbeing. He is also surprisingly cocky, or at least acts cocky, which, when surrounded by people stronger than you, is nothing if not a detriment.

His love of theatricality extends to combat, too.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name: Adewyn Fatri
Age: Late 20s…? Early 30s….???
Gender: Female
Role: Doctor
Race: Simic (Human presenting)

PERSONAL
Sexuality: Honestly doesn’t really get it
High Concept: The castle’s top medic, trying to forget a life she once lead

Personality: A relatively passive and pleasant individual. Adewyn prefers to quietly stand in the back, both to study the others around it and to let itself think. While not as contemplative or worrisome as they used to be, Adewyn still prefers to take an analytical approach to things- even if its analysis proves to be wrong. Oftentimes Adewyn feels the need to heal others the best way it can, a feeling that comes from some kind of instinctual pain experienced when seeing its son or the families it had torn apart.

Having recently gained an ego, the simic is relatively new to many societal concepts. It doesn’t really understand gender, or time, or names. It doesn’t understand human to human prejudice- they all taste the same to it. It merely observed life events that might shape a person’s entire ego. It can’t even tell if its current feelings are its own or someone else’s- perhaps in eating Adewyn, it’s become Adewyn.

Backstory: There was a shapeshifting beast that roamed the edges of Dead Harbour. For many years the monster stalked the forest, pouncing on poor travelers and drinking their life force- taking on their form to lure more towards them. And for many years, the beast tasted memories of the life it’d drunken. Memories of happiness, of pain, and of the sinking devastation of ending up in creature’s max. But as the beast ate more and more, it found itself feeling for these people. And as the beast ate more and more, it could feel the same happiness and pain and devastation that it’d taken from its prey.

One day, the beast had come across a couple searching for their lost child. With glee, it tore the two apart. But when the monster drank of their life essence, it could feel a deep emptiness in its chest- and water leaking from its eyes. As it looked up, it saw an unassuming child, calling for his parents.

And the monster broke.

Adewyn was the firstborn of a family of tavernkeepers. Beyond the duties a woman was usually taught, Adewyn learned how to run a business, a skill she used confidently when she eventually inherited her father’s tavern. Adewyn was kind and compassionate, though often a worrier. When her thoughts overwhelmed her, she turned to her husband, Ezreal Fatri, to bring her back to earth. The two had a son: Xerces Fatri, a charismatic boy with a love for complex systems like runes.

Hometown: Dead Harbour

PHYSICAL
yuliya-litvinova-3-37.jpg

Rather short. Her eyes are tired, and there’s a bit of age showing on her face. She still carries herself quite elegantly, though.

Items & Personal Belongings: An herbal kit and some alchemical tools for on the fly medicine making, and knives.

Abilities: Physically, Adewyn’s only strong enough to throw itself around, though its knowledge of vital points to hit is incredibly handy when needed. Adewyn is also surprisingly hardy.

Adweyn’s studies in dark magic and medicine has allowed it to create a kind of healing that uses the life essence of others- or itself- to regenerate its patients. Adewyn’s magic lends it to be supernaturally empathetic, and its own studying has given it a wealth of knowledge on the dark arts- though mostly medical. Beyond the magical, Adewyn also interests itself in herbalism and alchemy.

Adewyn also gives really good hugs.

Weaknesses: A bleeding heart. Adewyn hates suffering and would not dare allow someone to exist in pain. It’s also not very intelligent. Knowledgeable? Certainly. Smart? Eh…. Adewyn is also protecting a child. It will do anything to keep him safe.

(Tried my best as character bios arent my forte)

-Revision Done-
Name: Relatia Valeheart Strife
Level: 41
Age: 29
Gender: Female
Role: Spiteful Bloodguard
Race: Human

PERSONAL
Sexuality: Lesbian (dunno if that's allowed, but it's the only term I know of that works with me personally.)

High Concept: A spiteful Bloodguard that was passed over in the process of becoming a Dark Maiden, which the position was granted instead to Seldanna, making her quite neutrally opposive of her Dark Maiden siblings.

Backstory: A woman that was born into this world through the efforts of two unnamed people unknown to even Relatia herself, she was abandoned in the town/community of Grimthorne, where as what little hope of easy survival lay to waste. However, despite being abandoned at birth, a passerby took Relatia in, unknowing of her origins. Time had passed when she reached 7, already used to the life of scavenging, sometimes stealing from others to benefit herself. Because of this, Relatia grew up understanding the harsh world that was Hallowvale, struggling to survive however she can.

When the town came under siege one day a few years later at 17, she quickly took up arms, grabbing a random sword from one of the refuse piles scattered about, and proceeded to aid in the onslaught that was occuring near their residence. While not intuned to necromancy like most, her devastating asset was the immense, as far as being compared to the normal mortal, strength she possessed alongside her seemingly fire-proof skin. Because of it, she was versed by a novice mage on how to perform fire magic, to which gathered explosive results. With a simple fireball...she burned down 3 city blocks. From that point on, the community issued a special rule in this case: Play with fire magic well past the town.

Due to the fact the said mage wasn't advanced like some in Blackrock, Relatia had to self-teach herself how to perform the more difficult kinds of use the buring utility offered. While some of her experimentations often blew up in her face, others proved more successful in her endeavors. Four more years had passed by, and Relatia became known as the Fire Blight, which was quite less than a Dark Maiden but nonetheless terrifying all the same to those on the other end. Blackrock, upon hearing of talent in Grimthorne, purchased her services in order to further the castle's defenses. Once arrived by the orders by their decree, she quickly proved herself to be Bloodguard material, tutored in swordplay as Relatia favors the greatsword.

Her display of prowess earned her the spot, and upon hearing the stories told of Dark Maidens, she quickly set another new goal in mind; to take her place among them. However, as Relatia put forth the effort, her results were shattered when Seldanna was chosen to be the next Dark Maiden. Wounded by this, she increasingly grew angry at them, shifting at times from quite nice to flying off the handle from the restraint on her part. Currently she is seeking a way to become a Dark Maiden, by any means necessary, including killing one, however she knows in a straight up fight she can't win.

Hometown: Grimthorne

PHYSICAL
Appearance:

Fiery beserker.jpeg.jpg

Items & Personal Belongings: Crimson Red armor, Felmar (greatsword), a white scarf around her neck.
Abilities:
-Fire Magic
-Unnatural Strength
-Near Immunity to Fire in General
Weaknesses:
-A grudge against the Dark Maidens that sometimes causes her tone to really flare up, to a degree, as well as her attitude twoards them, which doesn't bode well in general due to the DM's immense power.
-Is currently inept at using more advanced forms of magic.
-Is not much of an actress, although she can fake her expressions and tone well enough.
-Fears her goals may never come true while she sits idly by

BASIC INFORMATION
Name:
Mawlock H. Alderbane
Level: 50
Age: 57
Gender: Male
Role: Dark Court Noble
Race: Human

PERSONAL
Sexuality:
Asexual, Heteroromantic

High Concept: A self-exiled scholar, devoted to Hollowvale and the Cainhurst's, on a search for the ability to bring the dead back to life

Personality: Once patient, mild, and loving, Mawlock has become a cruel, cold, ruthless, and cynical man over the years. His kinder side will shine through from time to time, but it is more often someone will get a piercing glare than a warm smile from him. He prefers not to attract attention to himself and will act extremely reserved during even the most heated disputes or interactions.

Backstory: Mawlock was born the second son of the third generation of House Alderbane, a prominent family of powerful clerics and paladins in the Church of Light. His early years were spent alongside his older brother and younger sister, learning the ways of light magic. While his brother focused on the more combative aspects in hopes of becoming a Paladin, and his sister focused on the more clerical and healing nature of light magic, Mawlock studied everything he could about light magic without bias.

Soon enough, he became a well-respected scholar of his community, while his siblings joined The Church of Light's military. Mawlock would join his brother on expeditions to bring the Church's influence to new territory, acting as a mediator. It was quite often violence would ensue, and the two brothers would execute the 'heretics' who refused to devote themselves to the Church. It wasn't long before Mawlock and his siblings went North into Hollowvale with a contingent of scholars, paladins, and clerics, all under the command of a high priest.

While heading North, they came upon a homestead, encountering a large family of dark elves. When commanded to kill them, Mawlock's brother was the first to speak up in defense of the elves. In response, the high priest branded him a heretic and traitor on the spot, claiming he had been corrupted by the filth and darkness of the land. When Mawlock's sister moved to the defense of their brother the high priest ordered them both to be executed on the spot.

A fight broke out between the group, and in the confrontation, Mawlock lost both of his siblings. Seeing the radical nature of the priest, as well as the deaths of his brother and sister, shook the young scholar. He knew if he returned with the four others who survived he, them, and their families would be executed. Still believing in the value of protecting the innocent, Mawlock took his brother's armor and his sister's pendant. The young scholar decided to stay in Hollowvale, telling the four to take the bodies of his siblings home and to come up with a cover story.

The young scholar dawned his brother's armor and his sister's pendant, and denouncing The Church of Light, before saying good-bye to his comrades. It wasn't long before Mawlock joined the court of Ulfric Cainhurst, dedicating himself to his new home and learning all he could of the dark arts in hopes of finding a way to bring his siblings back to life. Before making his climb up the political and social ladder he changed his name to Haadrick in honor of his deceased brother. For many years he welcomed the prejudice against him for remaining a student of light while embracing the freedom that darkness allowed, simply laughing and looking down in response at those he believed were limiting themselves. And on many occasions killing the most disrespectful in duels.

Understanding the need for a more long term plan than merely killing to achieve his goals, Mawlock was quick to grow his reputation and influence within the elven community in Hollowvale, becoming a business partner and friend to many and their families. As he rose the ranks within the dark court he simultaneously raised funds to cultivate vineyards, open wineries, and purchase properties. His reputation grew among the common folk as quickly as it did the nobility but in a far better and less bloody light, relatively.

Hometown: Blackrock (Originally from Oran when he lived within the boundaries of the Church of Light)

PHYSICAL
Appearance:
Mawlock has light blue eyes specked with gold
1592468822805.png

Items & Personal Belongings:
Siegfried - Paladin plate armor enchanted with dark magic resistance that once belonged to his brother
Lilith - A long sword enchanted with a vampiric effect, draining small portions of the strength and power from those cut by it and giving it to the wielder
Nora's Pendant - An amplifying medium for magic casting that belonged to his sister, gives off a purple glow when used

Abilities: Mawlock is lacking in physical strength when compared to his colleagues, and thus relies on his magical abilities to compensate. Using a dark mixture of blood magic, healing magic, and necromancy, Mawlock manipulates his own body's physical limits to make himself a more capable warrior during combat. Lacking any talent in wielding weapons, he has a profound level of skill in hand-to-hand combat. While limited physically, he is experienced in most, if not all, schools of magic, favoring the schools of light, dark, blood, fire, and storm magic, and necromancy.

Unlike most necromancers, Mawlock uses any resurrected pawns more as tools than combatants. His reliance on magic in an environment of some of the best warriors Aether has to offer has given Mawlock the drive to come up with very unorthodox ways of mixing the various schools of magic and using any undead he raises. What he lacks in experience, he makes up for with a sharp wit.

His greatest ability of all is survival. Mawlock understands the importance of living to fight another day and will not hesitate to retreat when he knows he must, using his knowledge of his opponent to adjust his strategy to gain the upper hand when he engages them again.

Weaknesses:
- Because Mawlock has delved deep into both light and dark magic, there is an internal conflict within him that causes him to occasionally doubt his own thoughts, making him reliant on others at times when making decisions
- His physical prowess relies on his magic
- Mawlock's natural weapon skills are only slightly more impressive than the blood guards
