Multiple Settings C.R.S.E- The control and regulation of supernatural entities (An SCP inspired 18+ RP sign up and character sheet)

C.R.S.E

Control and regulation of supernatural entities.

The C.R.S.E is a global shadow organization with ties to every major government on Earth but despite this there are very few who are aware of its existence. Secrecy is the strongest weapon in the C.R.S.E’s arsenal after all. The primary task of this organization is to contain and control anomalous entities, objects and locations. Where this is impossible these anomalies are destroyed with extreme prejudice. For those that don’t require such a dire response C.R.S.E contains and studies them, prying what information they can out of the supernatural. Some of what they find has been used to propel humanity forward but some of the information gleaned serves only to plunge the research into despair. At least the horrors motivate them to find new tools with which to combat them.

Although there are many C.R.S.E facilities around the world there is a dedicated headquarters for each corner of the globe. We will be based at Galahad facility (the western headquarters) which is disguised as an oil rig in the Atlantic. The entire area is a designated no fly zone and ships or aircraft that get too close are disposed of without compromise. Galahad facility is located within the Bermuda triangle and is ironically the reason behind the area’s supernatural reputation. Beneath the oil rig disguise lays a vast undersea complex that is home to the facilities research and containment areas.

All C.R.S.E facilities have a dedicated smart A.I that watches over the comings and goings with a critical eye far more capable than that of any human. These A.I, while wickedly intelligent, are still brought to heel by those who run C.R.S.E and are designed with multiple forms of failsafe to prevent the A.I from veering away from their created purpose. Of course, building these impressive artificial minds is an awfully expensive task which brings us nicely to the C.R.S.E budget. With tendrils in the pockets of so many governments I’m sure it comes as no surprise that C.R.S.E is absolutely flooded with money and as such it can operate with little fear of the expenses it requires. But with politicians to sate most of the budget is dedicated to essentials so don’t expect a hefty wage packet for your work.

Anomalies are catalogued as follows:

  • AE-X (Anomalous entity-X)
  • AL-X (Anomalous location-X)
  • AO-X (Anomalous object-X)
With thousands of each it became easier for C.R.S.E to split anomalies into subcategories and this three-part system is still used today.

There are a few types of employees that will be relevant to this plot and they are as follows:

  • Researchers- I don’t really think I need to explain this but hell, might as well. Researchers study anomalies both in captivity and in the field, providing valuable insights for C.R.S.E.

  • Field agents- Field agents are deployed in a manner of roles and are on the front line of C.R.S.E forces as they battle against the unknown. Normally used as a first response against anomalies but are also brought in to supplement security and research purposes.

  • Security forces- Trained soldiers who are dedicated to defending C.R.S.E facilities and active research sites.

  • Garys- AE-042 or “Gary prime” is an anomalous entity who has proven invaluable to C.R.S.E.Although AE-042’s full file will not be written here I can disclose the basics of this anomaly. Gary prime appears to be a white male in his mid 20’s, sporting short sandy hair and blue eyes. He is entirely catatonic and is safely contained in [REDACTED] facility. Gary Prime regularly undergoes a process in which he splits into two perfect copies of himself, but unlike AE-042 the copy is not catatonic. These copies are remarkably friendly and cooperative with little to no concern for their mortality and as such are indoctrinated by C.R.S.E for use in conditions were more valuable staff may be at risk. Unlike normal humans these copies seem to age at an accelerated rate and will reach the end of their lifespan after around a year making them ill suited to research roles. They are, to be frank, anomaly fodder. Try not to get attached to them.

  • Round table members- The name given to those who run C.R.S.E. The identities of these individuals are of course top secret and their power absolute. The secrecy surrounding the round table members is so strong that even their number is unknown.

Of course, getting employed by an organization that likes to stay out of the light is no easy task. And with the nature of the work undertaken by C.R.S.E it is important to have a steady flow of newcomers to account for the unfortunate losses inflicted by the supernatural. These employees are usually taken from military forces or government roles but there are those who stumble into this hidden world and are offered a choice. Join C.R.S.E or get sent home with an amnesiac strong enough to make you forget that your grandma had been eaten by a werewolf. The choice is yours.

Special field agents (You!)

C.R.S.E has recently began trialing an experimental new task force that takes new candidates from a much more volatile pool. Special field agents are both anomalies and field agents, a dangerous combination that was apparently opposed by a few members of the round table. Of course, not just any anomaly can become a S.F.A, they must be humanoid enough that these individuals can be deployed around the world and not instantly ruin everything C.R.S.E has worked so hard to protect. Likewise, they also must pass a series of tests to determine how dedicated they are to C.R.S.E and its core principals. They don’t have to like the job, provided they understand the consequences should they fail or break protocol.

S.F.A are still housed on site at C.R.S.E facilities but are given a degree of freedom not afforded to your average anomaly. Any specialist needs are cared for and they are even given a monthly wage that they can make purchases with through C.R.S.E. Agents that prove themselves are given even more freedoms after performance-based reviews.

I’m Foster (22M) and I’ve been around RP nation for a few years now, with roleplaying experience obtained even before that. I’ve always been fascinated with cryptids and the supernatural so something like this has always been the sort of concept I’ve wanted to take a crack at. In a similar vein to the SCP foundation the idea behind C.R.S.E is a global organization that locates, studies and contains everything and anything deemed supernatural. From werewolves to cursed amulets, U.F.Os to ghosts. They tackle it all, no matter how dangerous the threat. It’s not like anybody else can after all. With facilities in almost every country on Earth they are engaged in a never ending fight to maintain the status quo.

For the sake of the roleplay we would be playing agents employed by C.R.S.E, with a wide range of backgrounds and histories available to you. In fact you don’t even have to be human! C.R.S.E doesn’t waste its resources so from time-to-time humanoids captured by the agency are utilized as special field agents should they prove compliant enough. All agents are fitted with implants that can be remotely deployed to kill the agent in case of an emergency anyway so there is little risk of special agents going rogue. If your feeling creative you can even make up a supernatural humanoid, provided it’s nothing too crazy. Just run it past me first!

As for what I’m looking for in roleplay partners, I like people who aren’t afraid to pitch their own ideas and really want to invest themselves in expanding the background and setting of a roleplay. I’m a pretty busy guy so it helps a lot to have a team helping me with world building when I can’t commit as much time as I would like to the roleplay. For posting I’m expecting at least a few paragraphs per post minimum but there is no upper limit so if you’re the kind of person who finds themselves writing essays for the fun of it go right ahead. Spelling and grammar are a must, this is a written roleplay after all. It doesn’t need to be perfect, we all make mistakes after all, but please do make sure its clear and easy to read. Oh and this will be an 18+ roleplay, themes of violence and all that goodness so I’m really only looking for people above this age.

Anyway this is the sign up sheet for this roleplay so to apply all you have to do is send me a character profile via PM. Please don't post it here until I give it the all clear as having to turn down people who post there character on the forum isn't fun for any of us. Not that I want to be turning people away of course! That being said I will be accepting people on quality over a first come first serve basis.

If you're interested and want to ask questions about the roleplay or just chat feel free to join the discord before you make your character :)

And I'll just tag everybody who showed the original interest check any attention....
